eight minutes. Tyler Dragon to find football reporter for USA today,
we'll have him in to talk some football.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
We'll have last call. We'll try to squeeze in one guy.
I gotta go. We'll do that.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
And today for people just joining us, is National Odd
Couple Day. Because on the old seventies TV show that
ran five years on ABC with Jack Klugman and Tony Randall.
The opening of the show used to say the date
of November thirteenth. On November thirteenth, Felix Unger was asked

(01:35):
to remove himself from his place of residence. That request
came from his wife, and that way it is whoever
wrote that in the guy's voice. But so a lot
of my friends, if you grew up in New York
like I did, and I know a lot of people
around the country got to see it on reruns. But
Channel eleven in New York ran it like four times
a day. It was that popular back when we were

(01:56):
growing up. And it just come off the air, and
this is the seventies and eighties, and they just kept
playing it over and over and over. And I have
so many friends, my buddies from high school, me, Ben,
Eddie and Stu and Ed Genesee. We all when we
go out together have wings or hang out all high
school for we just recite lines from the show and

(02:17):
that you know, Billy Kried is another guy who's a
big one too.

Speaker 4 (02:20):
That's a you know what, man, That's one thing. And
I don't want to make this like women versus men,
but men do that. We just can get together and
recite movies or or mind my sitcom scenes.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
And my wife just looks at me, like, what's wrong
with you?

Speaker 4 (02:35):
So and she says, this is anything original with you
because once she sees the movie she hadn't seen that's
where you got that from.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Well, that's where you got that from her, that's where
you And I.

Speaker 4 (02:44):
Was just sitting there look at sheep is like, you know,
because she thought that was a hilarious thing. I'd always
say original thing, and I always say, and that's nothing
better man, and getting with your guys sitting there talking smack.
I do that shot out to Eddie and a Spectrum
where I work in the morning. He's he's our camera
operator and he knows every Chris Rock stand upright. He
just sits there all day long. We just quote a line,

(03:05):
quote line, quote a line all day long. And that's
the best something.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
One of them on the Odd Couple is a woman
who's trying to They have a car in New York
and they're trying to get rid of it. So they
get this woman push Over Pages her nickname, and so
you know, like she's like an unattractive kind of heavyset
woman or whatever. And and Oscar is trying to sell
this call without Felix finding out, and her nickname again

(03:30):
his pushover page, and then just there's a there's a
line where she kind of pulls the clothes up because
Oscar looks at her a certain way and and he says,
and she says, I'm not that kind of a pushover,
you know, right, And so like the guys will be like, well,
just out of nowhere, I'm not.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
That kind of a push that. Man. When you have
those moments like.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
That, friends best friends like friends.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
In San Francisco, yep, you got Klay Thompson's return to
San Francisco, now the home of the Warriors, with team
in which he played so many years, so many get games.
You got four championship rings, and it was the first
time he'd come since he joined the Dallas Mavericks. Uh
And here's some of what it sounded like. Or is
this the Draymond So let me let me bring break

(04:17):
this down for you. So you and I had our
conversation about it yesterday. You were talking about the booth hold,
and I said, they're gonna boot They're gonna celebrate him,
champion him, and then they'll boot him. Later we got
exactly would you would have hoped for if you were
the NBA or a fan of the NBA.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Draymond breaks it down a little further.

Speaker 5 (04:35):
So finally, yesterday morning, I text Steph and I text
him like, hey, listen here, big dog, I need you
to be locked in whatever it is that you need
to do. If that's watched this tribute video, I said,
I'm gonna.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
Do the same. So by the time stuff coming the
game last night, he pissed. As soon as I texted,
he called me right away. So I done tried to
stir the pot a little bit, bab that's just should
So I.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
Picked Steph off because Steph was supposed to speak before
the game.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
He's like, yeah.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
I called Raymond and told him I'm not speaking. I
just need to lock in on the game. So I
ain't speaking, And I talked to Clay about it, trying
to check in with Clay on something else, and Clay
ghosted me.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
So he got this MMM.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
So basically, to paraphrase, Draymond knew he said, I'm ana
start a pot and I'm gonna let Clay Steph. You know, hey, hey, hey,
I know that's our man's and I know that was
just blast brother, but I need you to get focused,
locked in, and he he was able to kind of
tick off Steph a little bit. And I guess whatever
else happened between Stephan Clay where he ghosted him about something,
So we got the perfect scenario where honored him played

(05:39):
all those years.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
They celebrated him.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
If you saw videos, they wore those corny They wore
the Captain looking like they were on the Captain crusted
the love.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Boat, looking like they were what's his island? Yeah, skipper,
skipper and all that.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
So everybody had on their little captain hat and they
houtored him, and he got he got emotional. He didn't cry,
but you know he was excited about it. Then they
got cracking right to action. It was trash talking. He
hit a bunch of shots and it was what you
wanted a competitive coach game. Luca dropped thirty something and
then Steph just stepped on him. The last few minutes
of the game, big shot after big shot talking, big smack,

(06:15):
going to the crowd, season go crazy, and it was
exactly what you wanted and what I know you don't like.
In the NBA Cup, by the way, that Pistons game
with Eric Spostra where it went down to a timeout
in the NBA Cup. You need to jump on board
with this NBA Cup, man, And it was fascinating NBA Cup.

(06:35):
It was just that Eric Sposter had a brain fart.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
I mean, I mean, how in the world you calling
a timeout when you don't have one? And then he
said he was emotional and he was thinking about it
the game. Well, that's bad and that cost him a game.
I mean, the Pistons went on some I've never seen that, No,
and we haven't seen that and iron where coach calls
the timeout that he doesn't now.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
And especially a veteran coach you've been doing seventeen years
and has been at you know, just a great career
NBA champion with the with the you know, as he's
coached the heat and then the irony was just showing
Jalen Rose's face of shot as he was a teammate
with See Webb back when that time out. So there's
just the irony of Jalen Rose being there, happening in
Detroit and whatnot. But going back to this game, man,

(07:17):
I just love you can tell there's something there and
every breakup as you are a man of a certain era.
You remember when there were a lot of rock bands.
When there are a lot of R and B bands,
and and you know, duop bands and just groups from
the sixties, seventies and eighties. They never stay together the
whole time, right, there's always some break show.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Because the Rolling Stones are still together and still performing well.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
Not get what I'm saying, They're more than anomaly.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
Most of the breakup you get the guy who left,
he's mad, he baye, he was with his girl and
or he felt like he screwed him out of some money,
that kind of stuff, and they break up, and then.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
They had the reunion tour and everybody's happy.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
Or they do a show, or they're on some new
reality show and it's all good. We love a little drama.
I love seeing it. I do still tell there's a
little friction there. I can tell that Steph Curry is
not a very emotional guy. For the most part of me.
Something a little off right there. I don't know what's
going on. A little tension maybe kind of stuff we
talked about. I feel like Clay didn't stick with the group.

(08:16):
He didn't hang with us till the very end. You
can sense a little bit of that, but I liked it.
I liked a little drama. I liked a little beef.
They showed love and they got to it and they
were going at it, and that to me was good
to see.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
I think Clay was probably embarrassed when he really looked
at what went on last night and that he should
not have left, and that he let his emotions and
his ego, his ego get the best of him in
that there's no reason he should be wearing a Dallas
Mavericks uniform for less money, or let's just call it

(08:49):
like it is. Then he was offered and now you're
you know, people are gonna be like, oh, well he
didn't stay with the group. I think he's like Lay
Thompson is the Yoko on all of the NBA, because
she broke up the Beatles. Look up Yoko on some
of us do a lot of people don't know who
you on. She tooke up the Beatles, but she heard

(09:12):
John Lennon like she pulled up bend Yoko Laker games.
I think she's still around Yoko on. Yeah, look it up, Ryan,
I think she's still alive. But you give my point.
Clay Thompson is Yoko on I would wait, that wasn't
on my bingo car. She's ninety one ninety one.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
I mean, that's unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
And I was watching the Monday night football game when
Howard Cosel as a kid, I'm sitting there when he
announced that John had been shot. I mean, like I
still can remember, like it was yesterday, and that back
then there were no twenty four hour.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
You just had to break.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
It was just exactly and you were just watching something
and if it was a live program, they would just
tell you what the news was.

Speaker 5 (09:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (09:53):
The last one for me like that was probably nine
to eleven, where it was just like, by the way,
this just happened and you're just like, wait what because
you know, again no Twitter and no social media. My
sister called me in the room. I was in college.
I go looking at the TV. I'm like, this is crazy,
and then the boom the second one happened. Then you knew, okay,
we're under attack. But that first week that was accident.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
But yeah, I just like I think that that that
he probably realized he made a mistake last night.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
But here's the thing, I really believe that I actually
disagree and that I think he still believes. You can
just see the way he was playing. I think he
believes he's better than he is at this point and
won't let it go. Like he is a quality player
who absolutely can contribute. But I think he thinks I'm
a starter and I'm one of them ones.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
But you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
But he is, But he is. He didn't make top
seventy five. There's a lot of things about that. But
he's a part of that. No, he's a part of
that trio, and by pulling away from that, that's not
going to enhance his If he goes to Dallas, then
nothing happens there.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Do you see what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
I'm gonna give you a dample to your on point, Okay,
Michael Cooper, Michael Cooper.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
Goes anywhere else?

Speaker 4 (11:04):
You're like, all right, he was, you know, insolid, but
but he stayed with the Lakers. You get a bunch
of rings you dah da da da dah, and it
turns into like, all right, Michael Cooper is a part
of this thing.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
The showtimeline that and that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
That's where Clay is not an individual and he's on
that team.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
It ain't about him it's about Luca.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
And it's about I mean Dirk here, I am Luca,
and uh, Kyrie like like you're not like you're not,
that's not your team.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
Anything that happens there's gonna be about Luca and Kyrie,
not about you.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
So why would you go?

Speaker 4 (11:36):
Because I'm telling you Clay Thompson went from an unknown
coming out of college. So you know, obviously we know
his dad and we know you know his dad had
a great career and he's still doing radio whatnot. Obviously
you know work with him, Uh to Wow, We're like, man,
this kid can play great defender, can shoot, quiet, kind
of humble, hungry, and then it obviously becomes a splash brother.
They have an amazing run, but those injuries really got

(11:58):
Clay and his feelings of I'm better than this, and
he sat there and watch other guys shineing and.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
Other guys get paid.

Speaker 4 (12:05):
You're right, but I think man, listen, man ego was
a probably becomes comes before the fall and he's sitting
at home watching guys. He feels like he's better than
then get love, get money, get on All Star teams.
And he took that to heart and then he getting
on the bench, he wasn't playing well, and he just
felt like he was getting you a jobbed and that
I'm still one of those ones and he wasn't, and
it was hard for him, except so he wanted to

(12:27):
go somewhere.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
He felt like, I can compete.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
This team was just in the finals in the Mavericks,
and I can prove to everybody.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
You saw last night. He wanted to prove to everybody.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
And Clay just feels like he has so much left
in the tank and that I think he won't realize, man,
we had a good until two, three, five years down
the line once he retires and he's like, man, we
really had something special there. Right now, he wants to
still prove I'm one of those ones and I can
be a massive, massive piece to a winning formula, and
I don't think he can is that right now? He
can still be a cog in something, but not what

(12:57):
he thinks he is.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
A seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
Do you get the feeling that stuff?

Speaker 1 (13:06):
I mean that Klay Thompson made a mistake or he
realized he made a mistake with the ovation the love
that he got and now he's playing on the Dallas Mavericks.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Or do you think he made the right.

Speaker 1 (13:17):
Decision and breaking away one in the group that made
him famous, Like he broke away from this trio from
the Splash Brothers, this was his identity. Where are you
on Klay Thompson mistake? Or he did the right thing
branching out and is he the Yoko Ony?

Speaker 2 (13:37):
That's very fun anytime you can say yoko on.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
She's sitting somewhere like wait, somebody seven eight eight seven
said why am I getting why?

Speaker 2 (13:44):
Wait? Why am I ninety one? Why's my Instagram getting views?
Right now?

Speaker 3 (13:48):
All right?

Speaker 2 (13:48):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine.

talking about Klay Thompson's return to San Francisco Chase Center
playing with the Warriors, where he played so many years
and had so many special memories. Again, it was just

(14:56):
it was odd to see him not being a Warrior
you used to see.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
He realized it that he made a mistake.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
I really believe that deep down, he'll probably think to himself,
what was I thinking? I let my ego get in
a way I belong here, I shouldn't have on some
other team for him?

Speaker 2 (15:13):
Right like this? What was I thinking? What was I doing? Uh?

Speaker 1 (15:17):
Like you talked about yesterday, I think about Michael Jordan
and the Wizard uniform, right like it just it just
wasn't what it should have been.

Speaker 2 (15:24):
And and there're a guy.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
That's why I always say, like the Derek Jeter, Derek
Jeter could have played a couple more years on some
bad team, you know, or down in Florida where he lived,
you know what I mean, and made some more money
and have his name or whatever. He played twenty years
in the Bronx, never wore another uniform.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
He's a Yankee.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
Nobody ever saw him missing fly balls or ground balls
in some other uniform like that.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
I think that there's something to that. I know. I
love it. Man.

Speaker 4 (15:52):
You know, we didn't see Magic Johnson, you know, wasn't
a old the Blue Cleveland Cavaliers.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
Even Shaq at the end he was on eight different.

Speaker 4 (16:00):
Shaq had to relax. Jad got carried away. It was
it was just like, you know, they've shows Kobe over him. Okay, fine,
and he ended up winning a check. Once he started
being a Celtic and being a calv with lebron and
then the Phoenix Suns with Steve Nash, it was like,
all right, Shack, and he admitted that is one of
the things. He's one of the few people I think

(16:21):
we're actually does hurt his legacy just a bit in
that because you start comparing, you know, who's better Laker
or Shaq or Kobe or this, that and the other.
And I think people start to look at that portion
of his career they're.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Like, all right, man, he was like sixteen.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
Yeah, he got carried away then, and he admitted I
got crazy with the ring chasing. I wanted to go
Steve Nash look good and those Phoenix son Let me
go there. Lebron obviously was Lebron.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
Let me go there.

Speaker 4 (16:43):
Uh, you know, the Celtics look like a good squad seat,
let me go there. It was like, all right, shak,
this is Shaq. I want to remember you and the
Lakers dunking and throwing people all around.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
Not like but he goes a big part of life,
and you know that people get caught up.

Speaker 4 (16:54):
And that I refer to it as so many times
we see these classic bands, these classic groups they are
and be groups, rap groups, whatever it may be, where
somebody was feeling himself, I'm not getting enough love. Why
he get to get the solo deal, or why is
he getting all the ladies, or why is he you know,
the one everybody wants to do interview. I showed him.
I go show them and they go out. They try
to have their own solo career. It doesn't work out,

(17:15):
they feel bad. We've seen this, having a million like
washed Rintz repeat it happens, and there's a million Netflix
movies or movies about the groups that do that. They
come back together when they realize we're better as a unit.
And that's what it is. I'll tell you what. The
Warriors historically look better with Clay, but they look better
better without him right now because the version of Clay

(17:38):
Thompson unfortunately that we got the last few seasons, they
just look better without him. He was not making the shots,
he wasn't running the offense as well. He's not the defender.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
So they didn't do what they did because they didn't
like Clay wasn't performing.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
Yeah, he wasn't performing, and he wasn't just not performing.
It was that he wanted to still reap the benefits
and be seen and be played as if he was
performing injury.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
What was that twenty nineteen.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
I believe it was uh or not to Yeah, twenty nineteen.
He wanted to be seen as that guy again. And
it's like you're not that guy. However, we still want
to rock with you, but you're not that and he
just couldn't get rid of that. You know, no, no, no,
I'm still starting. No no, no, I still need to
be averaging you know, twenty a game. No no, no,
I need to be putting up twenty shots a game.
It's like, you see some of these young dudes we

(18:23):
got coming up, they can play. Andrew Wiggins is a
better version of you now, meaning both sides of the
floor can get me twenty a game, can defend long,
can rebound. He's you know, he's not a better player historically. No, no,
right now, Andrew Wiggins makes suh. You know, do you
look at some of the young players that got coming
up as well. They're young players, are playing very well,

(18:44):
and they're like do we these guys need minutes. And
he didn't take well to being on the bench. You know,
he just went out and went out bad. But when
it happened, it happened.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
It happened like it happens like you're not gonna be
great your whole time we talked about it.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
We've seen some of the all time great stumble at
the end, not look good.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
This that that's part of my my reason that I
don't want to see Mike Tyson a lout like that.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
I really don't know who was another one that's gonna happen.
Alan Iverson, Remember he still could have been playing. It
wasn't a talent thing. They were like, yo, man, if
you could just come off the bench, you'd be perfect.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
Would he would had another five years, But it was.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
He who was stopping him coming off the bench for
twenty eight minutes a game.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (19:21):
Yeah, yeah, but what but he easily could have done
that come out.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
He was going to be up the leader of that second.

Speaker 4 (19:29):
Balling another he just couldn't conform to Yay, yes you're
still skilled, but you don't fit a system right now,
So you're better off being Jamal Crawford, who that never
could really fit a system.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
Look at even after his injuries, he was he was.

Speaker 4 (19:44):
He was able to have his a poster child for like, hey,
but man, I can play well. Grayo did that. He
aged perfectly. He did with the son towards the end.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
You gotta be able to set your ego as you're
not the same guy, and Alan wouldn't do that.

Speaker 4 (20:04):
Alan Iverson was the dude on the cover of Slam magazine.
In his mind, he was like, what'd you come out to?
Who did that?

Speaker 1 (20:11):
For a while, Carmelo fauted and he could have played
a longer time, set out for a couple of years.

Speaker 4 (20:16):
Anthony right now could still come off the bench and
get somebody ate a game, if you know what I mean,
if if they really wanted to. That's one thing the
NBA will do, and you know, covering it, dude, They
will say you're done, even if you're not done, because
if they just feel you won't conform.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
Or they're not gonna fight with.

Speaker 4 (20:35):
You, they were absolutely And then you'll see guys like
Jared Dudley, you Donnas Haslim, You're like, okay, why is
he still in the league? Because they play their role,
they're great in the locker room, coaches buy into them,
and they just end up being on a team well
beyond their talent level. But because guys always say, I
need that veteran around, because I'm always gonna have young
players who need a veteran who teach them the way.

(20:56):
Keep this guy around. And then you always see guys
who are out the league. You're like, why is he up?

Speaker 2 (21:00):
To Dion.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
Waiters recently just came out and said, Dude, I still
can get Drop twenty at night. They just ain't rocking
with you, Dion. They don't want the headache and all
that stuff.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
Look at this Nicks game.

Speaker 4 (21:09):
Yeah, I'm looking at it right now. Knicks bulls ninety three,
Bulls up one ninety. We'll drop up out of twenty,
Knicks making a comeback.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
Man.

Speaker 4 (21:15):
We'll keep you updated on some scores. In fact, we
won't do it. Somebody else is getting ready to do
in just a second. Tyler Dragon on the way.

NFL reporter, also a very tired new dad. I'm sure
he just wants to get some z's every now and again.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
What's up?

Speaker 4 (21:45):
Man?

Speaker 2 (21:46):
Is that kid sleeping on what?

Speaker 7 (21:49):
He's actually sleeping through the night. But he's tough to
catch now now that he's learning how to walk. Oh yeah,
I gotta get my knees ready because he's getting quick.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
Oh this is just beginning, brother, this is just the beginning.
Well well let's start here. Though.

Speaker 1 (22:04):
We do want to find out do they know what
they're doing in Indianapolis or not? I mean, like, you
bench a quarterback, some people think he never gonna play again,
or you know, for them, because it's just so rare
that you would do something like that. And you go
with Joe Flacco for a couple of weeks and now
he's back and he's a rest quarterback for the rest

(22:24):
of the season. What's going on?

Speaker 7 (22:26):
So yeah, I do believe the Colts mismanaged Anthony Richardson
from the beginning. You drafted a roll inexperienced quarterback that
you knew he needed time to develop in the NFL.
You only give him ten NFL starts before he bench
him and it's not like the Colts have a talented

(22:47):
supporting cast around him anyway, So there's going to be
some growing pains. And yes, Anthony Richardson did have growing
pains him checking himself out of the game, which was bad.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
But the biggest thing is letting people know why you
change yourself, right.

Speaker 7 (23:04):
You can't say you know that's inexcusable, but he's still
a young player. He's going to grow from that. Maybe
bench him for a quarter, a half a game.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
Or even a game. That's what we said earlier. Yeah,
I could see that, you bet you fair.

Speaker 7 (23:18):
Yeah, but this is your franchise quarterback and he he
has shown some promising signs on the field. It's been
up and down, but you expect that when you drafted
a raw rookie quarterback that needs time to develop. And
I don't believe the Colts have given him ample time
to develop. And that's really an NFL problem. A lot
of times around the league, they look at these quarterbacks

(23:41):
and that they don't perform and meet expectations after year,
they're ready to cut them loose. And you really need
to give quarterbacks a longer time to prove themselves in
a longer time to develop.

Speaker 2 (23:52):
Now that's not go ahead.

Speaker 4 (23:53):
I was going to say, the same conversation can be
had with Caleb Williams right now, who we're reports that
some of the veterans on the team are already looking
for him to be yes the bench right now, which
is crazy because number one, they ain't doing that to him,
not him. He ain't Anthony Richardson. They're not benching him,
and especially not right now.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
We saw some glimpses some good games from him. He's
hurting himself a little hold in the ball, that's what
we see. What do you see? Also?

Speaker 4 (24:18):
That offensive line is terrible. And by the way, he's
trying to quarterbacks Chicago. They ain't got no quarterbacks ever.

Speaker 7 (24:24):
So I think what's hurdy and Caleb Williams is when
you look across the league and the rookie quarterbacks like
Jayden Daniel Sue's probably the runaway offensive rookie the year
performing at a high level and getting better each week.
Bo Knicks is getting better each week. And Caleb Williams
was the number one overall pick and you compare him
to the other rookie quarterbacks around the league and he's

(24:46):
not performing to that level. Now, Is that his fault?
Is that the Bear's fault? Is that a combination of both?
I think is the lot of the combination of both,
because you look at this Bears offense is really vanilla.
They don't run a lot of great plays at disguising
the defenses or anything. So I think the new offense

(25:06):
coordinator change, that's probably gonna do well for Caleb Williams,
but they need to upgrade their offensive attack. They have
some playmakers on the outside. I really like their s
field position players, but Caleb Williams has to be able
to deliver the ball on time and not always try
to make those hero type plays off script. Sometimes he

(25:27):
has to play in rhythm and just hit the open man.
So it's the concern for both, I think the Bears
and Caleb Williams. He has to get better, but it's
not like the Bears are helping him out with their
play calling either.

Speaker 4 (25:40):
He is Tyler Dragon USA Today NFL reporter. He is
joining the odd couple Rob Parker Kevin Washington right here
on a worship Wednesday.

Speaker 2 (25:47):
Hey, Tyler.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
The Lions Texas game Sunday night, and obviously a big
comeback by the Lions, But there's a deeper story when
you dig into the tech and they just don't score
in the second half or have struggled. They have four
games in a row no touchdowns in the second half,

(26:09):
and then they've had only a total of seven all year.
What has happened to that team? A team that some
people picked to go to the Super Bowl. I mean
they have really scuffled and the second half have not
been good for them.

Speaker 7 (26:23):
Well, one of the main reasons why they struggle is
their receiver room has been depleted. Now the good news
is Nico Collins is expected back in week eleven.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
And I thought he was coming back this Sunday original.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
Okay, they took.

Speaker 7 (26:39):
Him off by r but he was inactive in that game.
But he is expected to be on the field in
week eleven. And he was leading the league in the
received yards before he went out with injury. Was an
ir So I believe the Texans are going to be
a much better team and a much more complete offense.
They don't have more success in the second half.

Speaker 1 (26:59):
Well let me ask you two though, and I get
that no doubt. But they were up twenty one to said,
like in the first half, they look way better. They don't, right,
what was it twenty three the twenty three sixteen? Was
that the score was three six out, But you know
what I mean, like like they were they looked like
they had dominated if it weren't anything were picking the

(27:19):
end zone, you know, like they looked like they had
dominated the Lions in the first half.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
You know, without him, without some.

Speaker 1 (27:26):
Of their other players and then nothing in the second half,
and this has been a pattern.

Speaker 7 (27:31):
Well, the good news for the Texans that you have
the Dallas Cowboys up next and they.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
Don't score forty points on them.

Speaker 7 (27:38):
Something's wrong with the Dallas Cowboys. So I think at
the end of the day, the Texans will be fine.
They're in a weak division. They're going to run away
with that division. They're six and four, still first place
in the AFC South. Now, when it comes to the
upper echelon teams in AFC, like the Chiefs, like the Bills,
there is a concern there, especially with their second half struggles.

(27:59):
But win a division title, I think they're gonna do
that and they're going to be fine. Win a game
in the playoffs. I do believe that they're going to
have a tough out with the teams like the Chiefs,
teams like Bills and so on.

Speaker 4 (28:12):
Tyler, let me ask you this, when I'm looking at
a game where you got a team that's nine to
zero in the Kansaschity Chiefs going up against an eight
and two Buffalo Bills, But the Bills are favored by
two and a half in this game, and I'm interested
in your thoughts on what you're thinking.

Speaker 2 (28:26):
Yes, it did in Buffalo, but what do you make
of this?

Speaker 4 (28:29):
This is kind of one of those teams, one of
those games folks are gonna be looking at. Is this
an AFC pre Championship preview? We've seen it happen before.

Speaker 7 (28:37):
So I'm not gonna pick against the Chiefs until I
see them lose this season.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
Well please, they should have lost Tyler.

Speaker 7 (28:46):
Also, I'm not going to pick against them.

Speaker 3 (28:48):
Now.

Speaker 7 (28:48):
The Bills they're going to be without Dalton Kincaid. That's
gonna hurt Kean Coleman, the promising rickyd receiver. He's probably
not going to play for the Bills, so that's gonna
hurt Buffalo. I do believe Josh Allen is playing MVP
caliber football. Not many people are talking about him in
the MVP conversation because Lamar Jackson has played so well.
But I really do think when it's all said and

(29:12):
downe though, especially this Sunday Kansas City, they always seem
to find a way to win. Whether that's passion Mahomes
making an all script play on third down, whether that's
Travis Kelce making it play DeAndre Hopkins a new receiver,
or blocking field goal to Temple like they did last week.
So until I see the Chiefs.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
Oh please, I'm not buying that time you watched too
much football. They scored three points in the six, two
field goals in the second half.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
Man, they are down. They can't score in the red zone.

Speaker 1 (29:43):
They got a lot of issues, and I know winning
covers up all that, but let's just kid here.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
I'm not I just can't buy into the eye. How
many more championships I got to win before you go by?

Speaker 7 (29:53):
They got a lot of issues.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
Yeah, they do have issues, but anyway, let's go here.
You talked about Lamar and and we know what he
last year one the MVP only one vote away from
being an unanimous again.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
Let's give it to him now.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
But he's twenty four touchdowns and two picks. I mean,
he's he's been unbelievable.

Speaker 7 (30:12):
He looked like Superman against the Bengals last week. I
mean that play where he ran around seemed like forty
yards of normal and scrambled. There is no player on earth,
no can do that besides Lamar Jackson. I mean, just
give him the MVP right now. Like you said, Kelvin Justin,
just show that highlight and say, can anybody else on
any team do that? And the answer is no. Now,

(30:34):
they do have a big game this week against the Steelers.
Lamar Jackson has often struggled against Pittsburgh, so I want
to see how he performs against Mike Comlin and that
defensive group, especially with TJ. Wag coming around the edge.
But if he wins at Pittsburgh, I mean you could
pretty much give the h and that's AFC North to Baltimore.

(30:56):
And really, Lamar Jackson, they really don't have that many
tough opponents on their schedule. They do have to play
the Eagles, they play the Steelers again, but they can
rattle off some more wins right there, and especially if
the Chiefs lose this week the Ravens, the number one
seed is still up for grabs. If the Chiefs end

(31:16):
up losing like you think they.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
Will, ross Yes, And the last thing we want to
say is real quick, got one minute. Russell Wilson. A
lot of people you know he couldn't play washed or whatever.
He made it throw to Mike Williams. I mean, look
at some of the throws he's made downfield. He looks
good to me.

Speaker 7 (31:32):
Tyler Russell Wilson throws one of the prettiest deep balls.

Speaker 2 (31:36):
Oh that's one thing he's always done.

Speaker 7 (31:39):
I love the addition of Mike Williams. He's going to
be a legitimate deep all threat with him. We saw
that with the Commanders and the Steelers. Mike Tomlin's doing
it again. Another season above five hundreds.

Speaker 4 (31:50):
All right, then look at that fishing answer right there, mom,
Tyler Dragon. We appreciate you, brother, Thank you so much
for joining.

Uh man, the tight the Calves win again?

Speaker 2 (32:50):
What are they not?

Speaker 4 (32:51):
Thirteen and oh yeah, thirteen and oh, I mean this
ain't Lebron and Kyrie caves either. It's not like, you know,
they ever really good team, and they were good the
last season or two, but like we didn't expect them
to be world beating hills.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
Very online one because they got a baked a Baker's
dozen of what, yeah.

Speaker 4 (33:09):
That's great thirteen and oh, thirteen and oh and they
just sorry about that? Yeah, I mean you got you
gotta relax with that. But no, that's they are definitely
playing very very well. Man unexpectedly this well, you know,
you thought the thirteen games, you thought they'd be maybe
eight and five something like that.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
Ninety four.

Speaker 4 (33:27):
You gotta start considering, are they like a real deal
threat to the Celtics in the East what we kind
of thought would have a cake walk since Milwaukee didn't
want to show up and actually play and play out.

Speaker 1 (33:36):
Did they lose the Pistons yet? No, it's still a
third quarter. It's that down by eight.

Speaker 4 (33:41):
Man, if they lose the Piston, which is not bad.
I mean the Pistons playing pretty decent considering who they are.
Five and seven, all.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
Right, want to get to one is got to go?

Speaker 3 (33:52):
The five crowns?

Speaker 2 (33:53):
Is that when I'm there?

Speaker 1 (33:54):
Funny even number figure it out?

Speaker 2 (33:58):
Hit all right?

Speaker 4 (34:02):
Now, this edition of one has to go Rob Parker, Ryan,
of course Alex as well as Isaac participate as well.
Is because the greatest actor of all time, or at
least up there depending on where you stand, Denzel Washington
is going to be in the new Gladiator movie, and
folks who are excited about this is getting Rob He's

(34:23):
saying his character may even get some Oscar buzz once
the Oscar season is upon us. And then also they
just announced Ryan Cooler, the director of The Black Panther,
saying he's trying to create and find a role for
Denzel in Black Panther three. So I love me to
think about One's gotta go Denzel movies? Are you ready?

(34:46):
One has got to go? Number one? We're starting with
Man on Fire, Man on Fire, Lupeda, him and Dakota Fanning.
That was great movie. I'll see you shaking your head
over to Alex Malcolm X. Obviously he was nominated for
an Oscar gets right there doesn't Win, which is ridiculous,

(35:07):
And Malcolm X's my favorite movie all time, So clearly
I'm biased that I ain't going nowhere.

Speaker 2 (35:11):
Remember the Titans, people love that one. We're sports show.

Speaker 4 (35:14):
We're a sports show. You forgot about him? Everything ain't funny?
Rob hit that again, Number whatever. I'm on four, training Day,
training Day, and lastly, American Gangs. So those are your films.
Man on Fire, Malcolm X. Remember the Titans, Training Day,
American Gangster Ones, Gotta go.

Speaker 2 (35:34):
I will start with Isaac. I'm starting with you.

Speaker 6 (35:39):
Man on Fire, which made this observer wish his eyes
were on fire.

Speaker 2 (35:45):
What don't try to roll back in your chair like
you said something. You did, you said something crazy. You
heard me on fire? Right now?

Speaker 3 (35:52):
You heard me?

Speaker 2 (35:53):
You know what? Man, I'm about to go John Creasey
on Rotten Tomatoes. Don't I'm throwing tomato at you right now?
All right?

Speaker 3 (36:01):
Well, there's glass between us, the glass.

Speaker 2 (36:04):
That's true.

Speaker 1 (36:04):
But you know, when you consider the other movies that
you're that that he's done, be careful yeah.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
No, no, no, okay, Man on Fire.

Speaker 1 (36:12):
I'm with Isaac. That's the one I would toss out
out of those movies because what I love. The Training
Day was a real movie, Malcolm X, I agree with right.

Speaker 2 (36:23):
And what was the other one that we are?

Speaker 3 (36:25):
You got?

Speaker 2 (36:25):
Remember the Titans and you have American Gangster? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (36:27):
I mean those were all those movies were really good. Denzel,
I'm gonna throw out Man on.

Speaker 6 (36:32):
Fire, Alex, Dude, this is blasphemy. Oh my gosh, Man
on Fire. I think these two men should be Okay,
how do you take away one of his most interesting tools? No,
how about you take away the movie that you have
to be told to remember it? How about that? Remember
the Titans?

Speaker 2 (36:51):
How about No? I don't know, Alex. Remember the Titans
is a classic?

Speaker 8 (36:55):
All right?

Speaker 5 (36:55):
Ryan?

Speaker 2 (36:55):
What you got?

Speaker 3 (36:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (36:57):
I think it comes down to either Man on Fire
or American Gangster for me. And I had to look
up American Gangster to remember, uh who was in that film?

Speaker 2 (37:07):
That was a little Blastomo is too right, But that's
honest one. That's for him. I agree, And if you
have to look it up, you probably should dump that one.

Speaker 3 (37:15):
Then.

Speaker 8 (37:15):
Yeah, Unfortunately that is my choice. It appears to probably
be a better movie than Man on Fire, but I
will I'm gonna pick American Gangster.

Speaker 2 (37:22):
Why is everybody hating on Dakota?

Speaker 4 (37:24):
Yeah, but youka behat And by the way, I asked
Dakota fanning this, I did an Emmy roundtable thing and
she I asked her to say, what role most people
remember you from? And she said, I don't know. I
probably ends up being hot Man on Fire Lapite.

Speaker 2 (37:37):
Oh so excited, I went South Dakota. There you go,
rock in the shop.

Speaker 4 (37:42):
He's rolling back like he says, so don't bet you
right out to you For me, Malcolm, that is my
favorite movie, period of all time, not going away. Clearly
I love Man on Fire. And it comes down to
a couple other room. Remember the Titans, just a great movie.
Training Day slightly overrated? Yeah, slightly not his acting the
movie an American gangster as well. So I between this

(38:05):
list the one that can go Training Day? Wow, his
character can stay, the movie can go. I've said what
I've said, unbelievable, his character amazing, the movie slightly overrated, unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (38:26):
We are the odd couple because his favorite movie is
Malcolm X and mine is the Wizard of Oz.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
We can't be any more different. Don't say that again.

Speaker 1 (38:34):
Not a great movie, by the way, Wizard Oz, long
time all right tomorrow
