studios tyre rech dot com. We'll hope you get there.
An unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road hazard protection
(00:50):
at over ten thousand recommended installers tyre rech dot com.
The way tire buying should be Foul affairs coming up
in about twenty eight minutes, Share or gamble from MLBJJR.
That's right dot com. Uh, we'll do that, and uh
we got baseball to get you updated. The Yankees and
(01:10):
Royals tied to to the Dodgers are in San Diego,
were about to start Game four, the Dodgers facing elimination. Uh,
so that's another game we'll keep our eye on as well.
So we still got a lot to talk about. Yeah,
they're showing. Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
For those who just joined or just hopping on and
listening to the podcast or whatever you may be listening,
we were talking about Finano Tatisse earlier and just how
he is just living up to it, putting the whole
Pedes behind him and having a great postseason thus far.
Obviously still another game to go and minimum in this
one and then maybe even more of a stretch for him.
By the way, you gotta help me. I've been since
(01:47):
we've been doing this show. You'll laugh because you know
I've been trying to order food here every single day.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
But you gotta just stop talking. Every time somebody comes.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Rob G comes in, I'm like, all right, I'm ordering.
This time comes order you. I keep saying, are you
ordering now?
Speaker 2 (02:03):
You're literally trying to help it.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
I've said it like eight times, are you ordering now? Yeah?
And then the conversation starts. Conversation I got close.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Rob G's lovely wife came in and saved the day
a couple of days ago and brought in a bunch
of food. So I was like, ah, thank god, I
don't have to so I'm gonna do that. Monsei, don't
talk to me, Alex, don't talk to me. You both robs,
don't talk to I'm ordering some freaking food. I'm starving here,
and all of y'all starting to turn into chicken legs
and turcul you know how. You're back in the old
Looney Tunes cartoons when the person turning into a leg.
(02:34):
Y'all starting to turn into one you over there, Monse
eating on a Chipotle in my face, not off from
my brother, that chip or nothing. Goodness gracious, all right,
let's turn to the NBA. The NBA will be here
before you know it. Already it's getting earlier and early.
I think the season starts on the twenty second. Remember
it was like Halloween, or it'd be like the first
day of November or something like it used to it
(02:54):
used to be Halloween. Yeah, now it's October twenty second,
and so there's a big conversation that's being had a
lot of gms.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Well, this is the one robber you have all that
like like I want you to read the quote because
because uh, this is anonymous.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
G thoughts about Bronnie, and they sounded like they asked
a bunch of Rob Parkers.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
No, no, no, they talked about real talk because these
guys aren't on well say it or no, these guys
aren't bought and paid for by Lebron or it's not.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Even read.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
ESPN's Baxter's Homes. He did a long form piece on
Bronnie James.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
You know was gonna make it. He just made his
preseason debut. A couple of days ago.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
Surveyed two dozen front office executive, coaches and scouts on
what they expect from Bronnie in his Lakers tenure. Unanimously,
they all agreed that he's not ready for the NBA.
In fact, one exec said that Bronnie James is quote
being set up for failure by Lebron and Rich Paul.
(03:58):
Another executive ads that people don't realize how far away
Brownie is and if they did, they wouldn't have done this.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
And I gotta say, I understand the history and it
a father and a son, but this isn't a way
to do it. And I don't have any kids, and
people want to help. I have a nephew, I have nieces.
I would do anything to help further their career, but
I'm not going to put them in a situation that
they're not ready for. And a lot of people don't
think about it that, oh, he could do, it's no
(04:30):
big deal. He there's a twelve man on the bench
and all this kind of stuff. But other people have
worked very hard to get into that situation. And when
you start playing with the only thing that we still
have in this world where people have to earn their
way on and it's fair, is the athletic playing field.
And what I say by that is it's the reason
(04:51):
we could have a country that's seventy percent white, but
the NFL seventy percent black. You know why, because they
don't go and pick people based on the color of
their skin. It's their athletic ability. And if you can't
compete on that level, you don't you don't get that job. Right.
It's the only play you know what I mean. Uh,
(05:11):
there are no owners who have put their sons or
their cousins or nephews on teams cause because it's.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
When we did see Doc Rivers and Austin Rivers. No
but he was a star in college.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
I mean.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
No, no, no, but he was a star. And you
know what I mean, Like, come on.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
He literally played with his dad and ain't like Austin
Reeves an All Star in NBA.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
No, no, no, Brownie played at USC and have average
five points Austin Rivers played. That's what I'm saying, Like, like,
I'm not saying that athletes haven't played even the same thing.
When Ken Griffrey junior and senior Ken Giffrey Junior was
the star. His dad was an aging player who was
(05:55):
a really good player in his day and wasn't pinch
it off the bench. It wasn't the the way around.
Bronnie's not the star. Lebron is the star. And Bronnie
is the one who most people believe is only getting
this opportunity because of his dad, because he didn't wow
anybody in college. You know, he had to call at
the West All right, Okay, So this is my point.
(06:16):
These people are right, and that this is what they
do in evaluating people, and they're telling you you put
Bronnie in this situation that he might not be ready
for and if he doesn't play well or think it's
going to be the wrath that people are going to
have on you talked about social media will be enormous
(06:37):
if we don't think.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
It, will I do? I don't think we.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
I think somehow Lebron has had the kids, whereas he's
literally the most famous sports figure in America, and we
all kind of go eh to his kids, like they're
not weird. He's not Michael Jackson ing them or that
we don't even know who they are. They're hitting the actor.
They're like, you know, some weird, mysterious kids. We've been
watching Bronnie and Bryce and then the daughter came later.
Their whole lives. It has been normal. They have a
(07:03):
normal life. They went to see Eric Canyon a couple
of miles from me. Like they've had a relatively normal
life considering your dad is the biggest sports figure in America.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
And I don't disagree.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
There's not a human alive except maybe Bronni who would
think he actually played his way into this position. I
don't think that now. Could he have yet another year
or two? Just like these gms said, I don't disagree
with that, but I also don't have a problem with
bron With Lebron James bossing up. Listen every now and
again in life you've earned something. Nepotism is not good.
(07:35):
I don't care who it is, Lebron, Nepotism good, good planet?
Are you from? No, that happens in everyone. That's not
what I said. I don't say it doesn't happen. I
said it ain't good because because you block other people
who have put in hard work. And it's the same thing.
Wait a minute, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
If I came in and the job is available here
right Chris Leeds and I go would say, oh no,
my nephew Alvin, who's never been in radio, is gonna
be my co host. There's a lot of radio people
are put in time and energy. Who say, how in
the world did Alvin Parker get the co host job
on the Oddicome But he didn't even do radio or
and we've never been already he has a podcast or
(08:17):
whatever it is.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
That's my point of it is that you would be heard.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
Other people in this building would be heard or putting time,
money and energy and blood, sweat and teals for their career.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
You cannot in the world argue there is utopian that
what's not people are all okay, I'm not.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
Saying that whether it happens or not, I'm saying whether
it's fair.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
Or that's not. But that's not what I'm saying. What
I'm saying is that's almost an impossibility.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
The scenario you laid out is almost not gonna.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
It's not likely in that this is a big position, right,
this is a big chair, and I'm fully aware of that.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
You're telling me that people haven't gotten their relative jobs.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
And you know what I'm saying is Briannie is playing
on a team that he may never even play. He
might be in the G League for the whole year.
We'll see. You didn't say he's starting, he's going to
be the next star with Anthony Davis and Lebron.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
That's a different thing.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
Or he's on a this is a two man tennis team,
you know, a doubles match, and he's gonna be playing
with him like he's just gonna be on a team
where most of the guys, the last third of a
team don't even play. Ude, I was just at Laker
Made You Meet Lakers media day. I'm literally looking at
dudes who verbatim said this. Lebron went over to him,
showed him love, dapped him up, put his arm around
(09:31):
on everybody took pictures. He got his phone, his boy
the other player on the he was taking a picture.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
He said, man, this.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
Is why I woke up this morning, because he knows
he ain't gonna be playing, probably never gonna really make
the team. And he got a chance to kick it
with Lebron on media day, be there in his Laker jersey,
and he said, this is what I woke up for.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
My point is, man, stop acting.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
Y'all killing me with the acting like player ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen,
and fifteen on a team play. And who's to say
that that player is that much better than Bronnie. They
might have gotten him a little early, meaning he maybe
he need another year.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
I think you're being way naive and this is this
is you liking Lebron so you're gonna act like guys
who played at major colleges USC who averaged five points.
Don't get the contract that Bronni got, which is a
fully guarantee, not a split contract where he might go
to the g league. So again that's his dad. These
(10:24):
are up the GMS and people who are in the league.
They watched these guys They're not saying this. If they
really believe that Bronni was a good player, they wouldn't
be saying this just to say it. They've watched him
all along. They've said that he wasn't ready yet and
that he should stay in the week and it ain't
about oh, they.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
Don't play or whatever.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
If that's the case, then Mark Cuban could put his
cousin on the Dallas Americans say he.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
Don't play his cousin. You could do that.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
He is his cousin at North Carolina because he might
People would be like George Carr saying.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Man, you listen. Wouldn't buy that.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
You're you're talking about what shouldn't be in some utopian
cold lebron James has literally carried this league for twenty years.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Michael Jordan, they.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
Had two kids, Okay, Michael Shordan owned the team.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
Why he ain't get him in? Michael Jordan, He ain't
get him in. He owned the Twhy did he get
him in? Another one?
Speaker 3 (11:23):
He do because he knows that it wasn't right with
the integrity of the game.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
He could have put his tings. Michael Jordan's worrying about
the integrity of the game. Yes, Why did he put
his two kids on? Because Michael Jordan, why is he?
I would sit in lebron. Michael Jordan probably looked at it.
Y'all ain't deserve it. Y'all play like me. Y'all ain't
as good as me. Y'all ain't nearly as good. I
wish y'all might play. I bitch you myself, nobody.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
That's what it is. This is a family thing, my son.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
It has an opportunity to get in absolutely hey, why not?
I don't understand why he wouldn't. And you gotta step
back in. Like the fifty fifth pick plays in these leagues.
This is the fifth fifth pick. It's a gamble. So
if they chose the gambling fifth pick, they got a
three or four year, fully guaranteed contract.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Can you name him?
Speaker 1 (12:06):
If I can't even name fifth exactly? If they don't
the fifth pick, no, but that's my point. I know
that they don't have a fully guaranteed contract. I'll tell
you that it's like seven million. You're actually like, does
it matter? It does matter, dude, that it's a favoritism.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
If he absolutely is he got the same deal at
another guy at the fifty fifth pick, then I would
buy it. If Broddie averaged twenty points at usc and
he would have been a fifty fifth pick, all right,
or he did something that you could look at. The
only reason he's in the NBA is because of his dad.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Everybody knows. And my point is, who cares? Am I
the only one that doesn't care?
Speaker 3 (12:44):
Yeah, you're the only one.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
He's the fifty fifth pick on a team in which
he played here locally. He's from here, Lebron for what
the Lakers have chosen to be a family oriented organization.
They honored Kobe Bryant when he was a broken down
body clearly wasn't gonna be worth the money they gave him,
and they gave him all the money. Lebron James comes here,
won a championship. They're saying, hey, if we want.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
To Leangelo Ball should have had a spot on an
NBA team because his other two brothers were in the league.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
Right, No, neither one of them is Lebron. That was
a terrible example, neither one of them. Lebron wouldn't go
to play.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
He's gonna be a twelve player.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
How did you just say Jannis ain't gonna plays his
brother is on the team.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
Simply what because Gianna's once in there, did you did he?
Is he not on the team because Jannis wants to
get in the league.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
He was drafted by the Knicks before Janni's got to Milwaukee.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
No, I said, why is he the bull? I'm asking you.
He got in the league before he could have been
in there for it. I'm half him in him with
six points his first year, Giannis is in the NBA.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
Giannis runs the bucks. Jianna said, keep my brother here.
Where is his brother?
Speaker 3 (13:54):
How did he get in the league? He got drafted
by your Who are you saying his brother?
Speaker 5 (13:59):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (13:59):
What what is your point? I guess you on the back. No,
he got dropted. Are you giving me drafted?
Speaker 6 (14:05):
What?
Speaker 2 (14:05):
What does that have to do with these in the NBA?
Speaker 3 (14:07):
Because Ronnie drafted is what I'm trying to have to
the NBA.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
Is the point You're literally in the NBA because of me? No,
he got drafted before, so now he has to have
a twelve year career because he got drafted. Now, people
get drafted, we never even seen them touch the court.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
But he got drafted before his brother had any influence.
That's my point is why is he on the team.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
You're telling me about what he did before. Why is
he on the team.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
No, I'm asking you how did he get into the No,
you're not answering what I'm not asking you. How did
he get into answer the question, how is he in there?
He got into the league.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
And if they want another big man that sit on
the bench, then Giannis said, all right, have my brother
be that spot as.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
Ken it would be his brother would be doing uh
broadcast play by play for some small college right now
if Giannis didn't want him on the team. No, he
absolutely is there. Everybody knows this. He's literally a meme
of like I'm only here because of her. He got
in the league before everybody gets drafted. You know howy
people will never actually make it.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
Any seven.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
Fourteen second round picks, fourteen gotten fully guaranteed contracts.
Speaker 3 (15:15):
Fifty four second round picks, give me fifty five and
no longer.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Fourteen second round picks for the guaranteed contract. And you
know how many also don't play five Most of them
don't play. They don't stick around y'all acting like he
stole the number ten spot or top five pick.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
Relax, absolutely, recac how many.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Guys who averaged five points on the bad USC team
get drafted.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
How many dads are Lebron, how many.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
Get drafted averaging five points in college?
Speaker 2 (15:42):
And how many dads Lebron? Boss on? Boss up?
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Lebron boss up? And if he got his son on
the team, shout out to him. I don't have a
problem with it. We see coaches bring their coaches could
be coaches, and Bill Belichick brings his son in to coach.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
We see that every year. Kyle Shanahan, Mike Shannon.
Speaker 3 (15:59):
Hold is not playing.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
What is it that to get paid just as much as.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
A play in your way on a team are not
building out?
Speaker 2 (16:07):
It's a lot about wait netitil is good?
Speaker 1 (16:10):
So it's bad or worse? There's not, So you throw
me off. Andy Weed's kid played on the Chiefs. Did
any Weeds coach?
Speaker 3 (16:15):
No, I'm asking you to Bill Belichick's kids play on
the Patreot.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
Oh they coached? Why not? Because they probably couldn't.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
Play an there you go, and Brodney can't play, but
he got on the team.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
He played enough to be in college and for most
of them to say he needed enough year.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
So five points you.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
I told you it's bad, though, then we see it
all around.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
We want to hear.
Speaker 3 (16:34):
Seventy seven ninety nine on Fox Boss.

(17:39):
Talking about Bronnie, there was a poll essentially some a
couple of dozen folks that Baxter Holmes had a chance
to talk to, and they were saying Ronnie isn't ready
and it's a disservice for him to be in the team.
I say, we know he ain't ready. I just don't
care that Bronnie and lebron got a sun in there.
I thought it was a boss move by him. You
just hate it and hate on nepotism except for the
(17:59):
fact that happens to every walk of life.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
No, it still doesn't make it right. Tim in Atlanta, Chili, Tim,
you're on the eye couple of Fox Sports. Ready, what's up? Tim?
What's up? What's up?
Speaker 6 (18:09):
I'm gonna take you two days. I'm gonna get to
my point first. Like I was telling around g you
know he's the Lakers faying he's a Kobe fan. What
you think Kobe Ryant is saying about this? He's rolling
over his grain, rolling his eyes like, are you kidding me?
Speaker 4 (18:20):
Man?
Speaker 6 (18:21):
You know, he would never go for anything like this.
He's like Jordan, if you don't earn it, you don't
deserve to be here. The second point is, you know,
let's go ahead and make Don junior Secretary of State.
He bonker joint. He's a stass. I mean, come on, man,
I mean, but is it bing right? Think about the
guy that's earning his spots, he's got a family, or
(18:43):
just try to make it for his mom, that whatever.
He could take that last spot and make a name
for himself and try to probably gonna be okay whether
he makes it to the you know, ever makes it
to the Rocks or not, because his dad is a billionaires.
So when I give that kid who's really struggling, who's
really that money can make a difference, to give him
a shot and see if he can make it improve himself.
(19:05):
So that's what I say. Man, it's not right. It's
not fair. Even if it's like a you say, a
boss move or whatever. I mean, supports should be something
that you have to iron it. And once we started
doing that, then.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
You know, Tim I honestly believe it or not, Tim,
I actually hear you. The problem is this already happens
in other ways. You know how many guys are on
teams that shouldn't be on teams based off the meritocracy
of talent.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
I don't not.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
The team because they just I just like him. He's
just my guy. I'm the coach. He's just one of
my guys. And they can't rob Parker. You been covering
that don't happen. That don't happen.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
I don't be at least no, no, no, I'm talking.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
I'm talking about a kid who every scout thanks Tim
for the call and executive.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
This is what you don't know. What I'm saying his
talent based, right, it's his talent based.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
Why are these scouts saying this? Because I'm asking you
be honest.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
I'm honest. He is not talented to be I don't
disagree with that.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
Dwayne in Atlanta, you're in the yard couple of Fox
Sports Radio because I don't want to.
Speaker 6 (20:10):
How are you give me opportunity?
Speaker 3 (20:12):
Yes, sir, but you know what, We're gonna hang up
and let Brady's kid calling okay because.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
He didn't kicking.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
Then look at Stephen Jones.
Speaker 8 (20:23):
Why do he still have his job at the Cowboys
because he is Daddy Melanchick.
Speaker 6 (20:28):
I'm glad they straighten their lives up.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
How come Stephen Jones didn't suit up for the Cowboy because.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
He doesn't play a sports Why did he bringing up
stuff that don't make sense?
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Why aren't you an astronaut? Because you are not an astronaut?
Do you ask me? They want to be coaches?
Speaker 6 (20:43):
See somebody else could have had that coaching job.
Speaker 8 (20:45):
Who deserve it better?
Speaker 2 (20:47):
It's the exact same thing. Dude.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
Give me another example, Dwayne. Dwayne, give me another example
of a kid who averaged five points in college on
a bad college team that got drafted and it got
to get Give.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
Me another name.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
I guarantee me there are some other kids average five, Dwayne,
give me one name. Just be quiet, look, Dwayne, to
guarantee you give me one name, Dwayne, and I'll gladly
say you're right.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
Can you name me one guy?
Speaker 2 (21:13):
No, because they were on Dwayne, name me one guy
in that scenariow.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
Okay, there you go, Thank you very much, Thank you
very much for the call. Because you can't name it.
You know you're not dropping the mic like you think
you're dropping the mic.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
Right, There are absolutely guys who averaged five or six
points who've been drafted in the NBA. You do know that, right,
like that happens every year there's a kid average Converse drafted.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
It literally happens.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
Moe and San Diego. You're in the couple of Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 9 (21:44):
I want to look at a couple of different examples
or reasons as to why this is not the worst thing.
Number One, basketball is merit meritocracy like all sports, but
it's also entertainment. Bronnie James is going to make the
Lakers money. He's going to sell Jersey.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
Lakers have sold out.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
They don't sell tickets because Bronny is going to be
on a team.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
Rob g.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
They got empty seats for Lakers games.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
They have empty seats.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
No, but they absolutely dominate the headline to they self,
they'll dominate the headline.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
You know what, the Lakers have empty seats and now
Browny's going to sell tickets. Not act like you don't
know the business in Stop Parker. You know that Kelvin
or the empty seats for a crypto or the empty
seats bucking.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
Business is also the notoriety team in the headline secret
that's the least the where.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
They make they make money in a million. They got
them stacked. People are waiting in line to buy tickets.
Bronnie being on a team is not going to sell it.
Speaker 2 (22:40):
If you why are we talking about it.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
That's the same reason why Jerry Jones has his cowboys
discussed all the time. You know, the other side of
the business ain't just the butts in the seats. It's
all of it. Merchandising that notoriety to hold nine. You
know that as a business man.
Speaker 7 (22:53):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker we days at seven
pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and
the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
All right, right now, it's time for file or Fair
with JR. Gamble. Come with you list, that's all right
dot Com Studio. It was a big week in the
big leagues.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
Who's A?
Speaker 2 (23:13):
Who's A?
Speaker 3 (23:18):
Is it foul?
Speaker 2 (23:19):
Or is it fair?
Speaker 7 (23:20):
And now from mlbtbro dot Com, here's JR.
Speaker 3 (23:25):
Gamble, that's rights Fowler Fair.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
Here on the okable say when we go around the
diamondscus all the biggest headlines in Major League Baseball star
this segment none other than mlbbro dot COM's very own JR.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
Gamble, Yo, yo, what's up?
Speaker 8 (23:38):
They are up postseason ball. Let's do it.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
Let's get to it, no small talk necessary. Story number
one Jr. Your start the same, you get the first crack,
every single one. MLBL Fox reporter Ken Rosendal was banned
from the Padres dugout during Game three because he wrote
his latest call for The Athletic that the none Datsis
Junior was a smiling, dancing and Machado has a history
(24:02):
of acting punkish whatever that means, jr FA or fair
say the Padres overreacted to this one when they banned
Rosenthal Fair.
Speaker 8 (24:14):
What is the name of journalism was going on here?
I mean roses Thal wrote what a lot of people
think about those guys. I would say, let's not act
like Machado hasn't had that kind of reputation. Despite his
greatness as a youth, he was often called out for
being punkish on the field, whether it be hitting catches
with his backswing or talking a bit too much. He
(24:35):
was always into something. He's matured, But come on, smile
and dancing peacock, Well, that just sounds to me like
Ken rosen Thal flexing his pen his journalistic pen vivid imagery,
but let's not act like Also, curists like Ken roses
Thal don't harbor some ill will towards tactis for that
PD suspension as well. So you can't ban national reporters though,
(24:59):
like camp this dressing with him, man the man. If
you have a problem, he's been in the game a
long time, rob g.
Speaker 4 (25:06):
The way you worded it again with foul or fair
to say the padres overreacted when they banned get Fair overreacted.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
You can't do that. If you got an issue with something,
say something to Ken Rosenthal and if he wants to
interview you and you don't want to deal with him,
say I have no comment, thank you, but I don't
want to talk to you.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
I got it.
Speaker 1 (25:25):
I don't have much ad, but I don't like the
band fair because I think you can pull him aside
and he can talk to him as man. Hey man,
I understand you. You know, might not like I was acting,
but you ain't gonna call me that. They can say
that to him face and face, but yeah, you're fair.
You can shoot him in emails. Hey man, we appreciate you.
Don't any reporters I'm not with, but yeah, I'm fair.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
He's done. He's done too he's done too much.
Speaker 4 (25:42):
All right, Bobby G and Carlo don't call me Mike.
Stan just hit a solo shot. It is now three
to two games. He had told runs in the postseason,
all right, Story number two j R. Before the playoffs started,
Tiger's manager A. J. Hinch said the club would employ
quote pitching chaos anytime Tarker Scooball wasn't on the mound on,
which basically means every pitcher they're gonna use is going
(26:03):
to be used as a starter, a reliever, and a
closer depending on situation. Even though the Tigers are up
two to one in their series Jr. Foul or fairsday,
Detroit just cannot win a World series playing that style
of baseball.
Speaker 8 (26:17):
What's happened to my great game?
Speaker 2 (26:18):
But found that is a foul ball?
Speaker 8 (26:22):
Usually history shows that you have to have two eight
type arms right to win the World series that started
at least two started. Who can give you five to
six shutout any get time the except to the mouth
and after schoopl Detroit doesn't have that guy that you
would call top fight the lead pitcher, but they do
have arms It's not like they're throwing anybody out here.
They have a lot of young arms. Picking depth has
(26:43):
not been a problem for Detroit all season. That's how
they were able to actually get the ship right after
that bat first half. So the Detroit right now appears
to be a team of destiny on the right side
of the baseball guard for the first time I don't
know how long. So it's hard to predict October. All
I can go by is what I see right now,
and then Phil it capt is up to them. DeJoy
playing as good as anybody, and they have a shot.
(27:05):
They have a shot to keep going with this pitching chaos.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
All right, I'm going file a five five understood, because yeah,
I believe they can still continue to do this. And
I'm looking at the Dodgers right now, who had a
bullpen game, and this might be the actual game they win.
Here just trying to employ different ways and this isn't
baseball as Oh look, I heard a lot of guys
complain why can't pittures go seven, eight or nine complete games?
And why can't they do that? It's just a different
(27:29):
day and age with baseball in the way in which
it is. The way they coach and manage these games.
So it is absolutely possible. And at the end, when
you have this momentum going in, you know what they
want to take or ready, whatever's working has been working.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
So I think it's file. I think they can continue
this streak.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
I say it's fair ball, and they've been doing this
in Tampa Bay forever. This is not new. This is
not something that Tigers have come up with openers, pitching,
with bullpen and all that. And guess how many chechampionships
to Tampa Bay Rays have zero? And until I see that,
I'm not buying it.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
You're about to see it. But to say new.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
So anybody who thinks that this is new and they
invented this, their kidding themselves. It's a world series though,
then mookieould another day. I'm just saying they haven't won
a World series.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
Just saying they made it. You know my theory. Get there,
you get a shot, speaking of getting their Mookie best.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
Another RBI single, Dodgers up three to nothing in a
must win game.
Speaker 3 (28:25):
JR.
Speaker 4 (28:25):
Gamble Fowler fair with the couple last one most important
question of the night.
Speaker 3 (28:31):
Wow Jr. Through two and a half games.
Speaker 4 (28:33):
MVP candidates Aaron Judge and Bobby Wood junr are a
combined one hit with ten strikeouts in this series. The
only difference is the Yankees at least got Juan Soto
and Gio Carlos Stanton to pick up the slack. So
here's the question or fair to say that unless Wit
breaks out of this slump, the Royals absolutely cannot win
this series.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
That is a.
Speaker 8 (28:57):
Foul ball only because Calvin robb O the rob traded
things have happened, and pitch is what really drives these
playoff games. Let's be honest, really good hitters off the
slump in the playoffs and sometimes really mid hitters get
Hall of Fame hot. So it's not likely that the
(29:18):
Royals will win past this series if Wit doesn't hit.
But again, they've already won a game in this series
behind solid pitching and timely hit it and that's all
you really need, in my opinion, in the playoffs, Garcia
had four hits for the Royals in that game to win.
So in they're neck and next tonight and not doing
(29:38):
anything that great, and not just Judge. So you know,
Sam is supposed to be the guy who's supposed to
help without right, he's hit in one eighty two. He
didn't even start tonight. So they definitely need with after
this series that they can win it to be the
three thirty hitter he's been. If they think they're gonna
try to win the World Series, they're not gonna do
it with with hitting in the one hundreds or the
(29:59):
low two.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
Fair. Yep, they need Bobby Witch. Junior has to play well.
I mean, the Royals, it's a nice story, but the
reason that they where they are he batted three thirty
two and raked all year.
Speaker 1 (30:14):
Or so, I'm gonna say it's fair. I'm gonna go File.
I think that is a shit. Just have a hot pitching.
If you get hot pitching, if you get somebody else
who swings at bat, uh Perez swinging at bat, things
are happening. You can have an opportunity, uh to make
some plays and he can just be a.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
Part of it.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
Maybe he does it another way, maybe, whether it be defensively,
whether it be still in some bases, something like that.
It contribute without just the bat. But I'm gonna go File.
They can still find other ways to win or shoot.
If Judge keep not showing up, you never know. All right,
there it is that's thanks JJR. I appreciate you.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
We'll do it together next week.
Speaker 8 (30:49):
Always, let's do it. That's so well, y'all.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
Shekel City.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
I don't know, No, that was a mistake, all right,
that was a mistake. Well, I was gonna maybe, I
was gonna funny. We got to baseball celebration.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
Yeah, celebrations in baseball too much or just right? Rob
Parker Kevin Washington, It is the Odd Couple, Fox Sports
Radio and Nobody get time today.
Speaker 7 (31:11):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple

Speaker 3 (31:23):
I'm not gonna lie that drop right there forever.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
If you ever want to maybe laugh, just play that
forever makes me fast laugh.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
All right.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
It is Fox Sports Radio. It's the Odd Couple. Rob
Parker Kevin Washington on the Worship Wednesday. One more time

Speaker 3 (31:54):
Dodgers up three nothing in the bottom of the second
against the Padres, and the Yankees are up three to two.
John Carlos Dan with a solo home run in the
top of the eighth to go to the bottom of
the Is it the bottom of the eighth? Yeah, bottom
of the eighth in Kansas City? Three to two Yankees.
All right, it is last call time here on the
odd couple.
Speaker 7 (32:17):
Come, it's last call, last call time on the odd couple.
Speaker 3 (32:26):
All right? And EJ from Atlanta. You're the last call
on the odd couple. What's up?
Speaker 2 (32:32):
EJ?
Speaker 6 (32:33):
What's going on?
Speaker 2 (32:34):
How you doing good?
Speaker 5 (32:37):
Tom?
Speaker 6 (32:37):
Listener?
Speaker 2 (32:38):
Two quick point, we appreciate you.
Speaker 3 (32:40):
Let me say that we appreciate you.
Speaker 8 (32:42):
All right.
Speaker 5 (32:43):
Kelvin got gotta side with Rob on this one. Got
two quick points. It's different when you're playing sports and
competing for a position. You can't equate that to somebody
that's just getting a regular job. Second point is that
you said the ninth and tenth player really not that
important and very important. It can take the spot from
somebody that's a value play. I give you a guy
(33:05):
in eighty seven eighty eight was sitting on the bench,
wasn't really playing maybe the eight to ninet tenth player,
And long behold, he goes to another team because that
spot was not really his.
Speaker 1 (33:18):
And before you know.
Speaker 5 (33:19):
That, he's three times, four times All Star and four
times second team All NBA. It's Kevin Johnson. He sat
on the bench at the Cavaliers. So you can't have
a spot being given to somebody and take it away
from a qualified player.
Speaker 2 (33:34):
EJ.
Speaker 3 (33:34):
No, I don't listen, EJ. I.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
When I say eighth nine, I'm really talking about the twelve, thirteen,
fourteen to fifteen, those last guys who all is the
street closed?
Speaker 8 (33:41):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (33:42):
Like I said, I had to. I think he will.
Speaker 1 (33:45):
I genuinely think he's gonna play the first game or two,
just so they can have that ceremonial moment where you
know everybody can see it happen. It's a great magical moment.
And then I sent it his butt down a J league.
I don't think he's going to the guy. You don't
believe that he's going to g They're gonna have the
ceremony here. I don't think he's going to the G League.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
That's why I gave him that contracts and they're gonna say,
the only way I will learn is with my play. No, no, no,
But with the coaches that are there, and Lebron can
help them and JJ Reddick and all that, and that
he'll he'll he'll learn, he'll be better here with it
with this team rather than uh.
Speaker 1 (34:20):
With the GI I think it's seven or eight games
before in the regular season before the actual G League starts.
I think he'll play in most of those, or maybe
not even literally play, but be on the bench with
the team, and then he'll go down to the G
League so they can have that moment where Lebron's gonna
throw him a pass, he'll hit a shot or something,
and then they gonna be the biggest thing smoking all
of every sports show.
Speaker 2 (34:39):
You and I go crazy. You'll be in there.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
Having a fit, and then they'll go to the G
League and they they'll pop back up.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
Towards the end of the year. That's what I think
is gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
You really gonna go Rober You know, Rob Parker's gonna
lose his mind Lebron, so you don't know what he's
playing with Bronnie and Bryce.
Speaker 2 (34:52):
Oh, that'll be the day you finally retire.
Speaker 1 (34:55):
That'll be the day Rob Parker finally gives a rob
I know I have nineteen jobs, but I'm I'm doing.
Speaker 2 (35:01):
Man, Come on minute, it's just crazy. You are retiring
when Bryce and Ronnie and Lebron are on the same.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
You already know Lebron ain't going for that. That his
kid is gonna be in the G League playing.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
Yeah, I think he will.
Speaker 1 (35:11):
I think the point was to play with him, not
that I have to have every single game with him
to look at him.
Speaker 3 (35:16):
And Bobby Wood Junior finally got his first hit.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
There we go. That was our fouler Fare conversation. Real quick,
I want to throw something at you. I have this
conversation all the time. And Monzie jump into Robs you.
Everybody does baseball over celebrate, And what I mean is
wild Card champagne going on. They got beat. Everybody's got
the goggles on nlds ailed, the champagne goggles going on,
(35:42):
CS champagne goggles.
Speaker 2 (35:43):
Going you in the world six champagne goggles.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
They gotta start separating the difference between each one, like okay,
maybe there's like we have a cigar, we just have
a good time, and we are We're about business. We're
trying to get more than this. The celebration looks the
exact same, from a wildcard win to the World Series win.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
Montia Mallian, we gotta come on now, we gotta we.
Speaker 3 (36:02):
Gotta mix it up, or even a wild card spot,
it's exact same.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
At least Ron Parker, you throw some part of your life.
Speaker 3 (36:09):
Why are you trying to hurt the champagne industry?
Speaker 2 (36:12):
What what have they done to you? Mix it up?
What have they done to you? Some sparkler girls up
in there?
Speaker 3 (36:17):
What is wrong the what is wrong with celebrating? And
you know the difference with baseball compared to some of
these other is you know how much work and games
you play, and it ain't that easy, like you can
sit there and go on and make it a player.
Speaker 2 (36:32):
Nobody walk.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
Everybody hasn't won championships, everybody hasn't been a part of
that kind of stuff. So for them it's your first taste, right.
Speaker 2 (36:42):
You're just all I'm saying, mix it up.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
Like the celebration for the wildcas, I don't know what
it is, right, And the same.
Speaker 3 (36:48):
With the Yankees, and they didn't celebrate. People go how
tacky is that? Like they think they're too big to celebrate.
Speaker 2 (36:54):
That's true, right, I ain't man at hey, this is
what we do. We've been here, we expect to win.
We have to.
Speaker 1 (36:57):
You know, is what is regular for us? It's nothing.
It's ano the date B and that was just saying
New York. So a nowther date B. You know what
I'm saying, Son.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
That's like you've been there's like you've been here before.
Speaker 1 (37:06):
B word is bun yo. All I'm saying is mixed
up the celebrations. If you fail from Mars and I
showed you a World Series, a World a wild card
clinching game, and the game seven of the World Series
with a walk off home run, it looks exact same.
That's all I'm saying. You know who ruined this? I'm
getting Wait, and what's wrong with celebration?
Speaker 2 (37:28):
Just mix it up?
Speaker 1 (37:28):
There's bring nineteen nineties, Rob Parker, you threw a better
party than that.
Speaker 3 (37:32):
Pain all over you and all. What is wrong with
celebrating a little sham pipol over you.
Speaker 1 (37:38):
I know you threw some parties and you can throw
some better parties. I'm saying, pagne, there you go. That's
me drinking this shim pain.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
Choking on at nine.
Speaker 3 (37:48):
The popping bottles left and right here.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
I don't need baby.
Speaker 1 (37:51):
Oil, rob G, I know we got ten seconds. You
feel me though, right, I'm totally with you. Mix it
up a little bit. It looks the exact same, all right.
TV song Thursday is tomorrow on the Couple, go dost.
Speaker 2 (38:03):
They can do thatkay. I don't like to live in
the moment. Huh,
