be coming up. In about twenty eight minutes. Ted Win,
NFL staff rider for the Athletic will dive in with
some takes he has about the National Football League and
week number two will do that. But Kelvin, let's do
(01:19):
this and to pull a curtain back, let people know
who don't know you do do some Dodger stuff on
Spectrum right on sports that La yeah out here. I
think this was season five and you start in twenty twenty,
usually get about fifteen to twenty pre and post games.
Get here, get to go out to the stadium, you know,
go out there and mess with the players also the fans.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
So you know, I mean the same building with him. Man.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
Shout out to my guys, No mar or Hersheiser, Jay
Harrison Junior and all the guys.

Dotre willis toon yep.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Jarry Harrison Junior is on our podcast and we have
them on the couple as well.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
So that's all good.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Just to let people know that you're around baseball and
you do baseball profession and you know baseball is my
first love.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
We all know that you know it, but you don't
find a way to bring it up to by the way,
you already know. We could be at Burger King, you
can be like, yeah, come let me get a.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
By the way, Kelvin d Ever tell you whopper is
a home run. That's it's a home run.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
Like, okay, Rob, just get the whopper. You don't have
to make it a baseball conversation. Rob, I can't help it.
But I want to say this, and that was one
thing we prought ourselves on the Odd Couple. We talked
more baseball than any other national show.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
It's a mix. You know, you're making compelling you talk
about what's happening. And this is compelling to me because
Sho hal Tani is one of the biggest stars in baseball,
if not the biggest, And tonight he had his forty
eighth home run, So now he has forty eight home runs,
forty eight steals, right on on the way to a
magical season. No one's ever had fifty and fifty and
(02:48):
he's gonna get it. Obviously, this's like two weeks to
go in the season. Okay, regular season. But Dave Roberts,
their manager, came up and said, hey, you know it
was a good chance that show Hey could pitch in
the postseason. Okay, he had the surgery.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
He's been that.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
He hasn't pitched all year. He's just been a dh
And when I heard that, it got my attention, Oh boy,
because my first reaction was.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
No, hay no, how I thought it's gonna be no hey,
no so hey.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
No hay no, how no, what are you doing? Do
not do this? There's no reason. And here's the reason why.
First of all, can you imagine putting him out there right,
not right, and maybe pitching in the postseason and something
(03:44):
going wrong and him reinjuring and he's out for next year.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Okay, that's number one.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
Number two, they got so many issues in the pitching
department that I can't see them winning a World Series
because it's just so many guys heard. So now you're
having show Hay rush back to pitch earlier than schedule.
He's not supposed to pitch all year. That was the
original diagnosis. He's gonna take the year off, get all
(04:13):
the way healthy, and be ready to go in twenty
twenty five. Now you're shorthanded. You want to rush him
back a little bit, maybe earlier, premature, and God forbid,
something happens. So I'm against it. This team doesn't have
enough pitching to win. Even if show Hay comes back,
they don't have enough pitching to win. What do you
(04:33):
I'm not saying, throw to towel and you're gonna give
it to old college.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Try right, Kelvin.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
But but don't act like he's the missing piece of
you winning the World Series. No, they're missing four missing
pieces in their rotation. They got too many injuries. Uh
you want Clayton Kershaw to be held together with popsicle
sticks and tape and glue and all that other stuff.
(04:58):
I'm just saying this way too many things not right
with the pitching. He's not the missing piece. It's like
trying to fill in the Grand Canyon. He's not big enough.
It's not worth taking this chance. I'll say this.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
For Dave Roberts to come out and say that, I
think the implication is we're only in an opportunity to
either get to a World Series, or to win a
World Series game or a World the World Series as
a whole. Meaning I don't think he's just running him
out in some Division League series. I don't think he's
running him out in some random game two, you know,
(05:36):
for no reason. I think if he's saying that, he's saying, look,
we're in a situation. We've won one hundred plus games
a bunch lose, we get to the postseason, loseds, we
lose n LCS, we lose, we lose, We've lost the
World Series.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Obviously they win.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
In twenty twenty, people want to talk smack about the
World Series title, because I say it's a shortened season,
kind of hold on to that one. I mean, listen,
y'all had the same opportunity we did with you know
what I mean. People said about the Lakers, so it
was a bubble. Well, we all were in the bubble
together and the rest of y'all popped. We didn't pop
in the bubble. So I'm looking at it the same way,
no bias, just because I'm around those guys. We all
(06:11):
have the same opportunities we won. It's not like we
had special rules only for us. So but people still
want to make fun of that World Series title. And
and to be fair, they've had so much success, they've
had been so good over the last ten years or
so that you want more wins from that, you want
another World Series title. And I think part of what
Dave Roberts is saying, Look, I acknowledge that we've been.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Great, good, too great, and we've had these opportunities.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
And look, if we get in a situation where I
need him to get it out or two and he's
looking at me and he's telling me, yo, I'm I'm healthy,
I'm the best thing would be this season. Let me
get out there I'm not saying I'm gonna give you
five innings, but I can get a couple of guys
out for you. I think he's saying, look, man, I'm
trying to win because if we win one hundred games,
I know, but I'm saying the pick a season we
(06:57):
went on the game, I'm saying, we don't do anything
in the postseason.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
Y'all. You know my job, fire, Dave Roberts.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
I understand that point a win is a win because
if Otani for some reason goes fifty to fifty and
maybe next year is forty forty, and all of a sudden,
he's forty home runs for the next eight years, but
the Dodgers don't win anything.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
What did it really matter?
Speaker 1 (07:16):
But here's but here's the thing. You had a game
plan before the season. Now all of a sudden, you
want to bring him back to maybe pitching the postseason.
This sounds desperate to me, and I understand because they
have a ton of injuries.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
But the risk isn't worth the reward.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
And that because long term, if he re injures himself
and has to miss another year, I'm just I'm giving
you the worst case scenario.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Yeah, okay, because that might not.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
It might just you have to look at the worst
case scenario because that could happen, and if he was
lost for another season as a pitcher, and then that's
two years and he might not pitch again. You know,
like that is what you don't want to have happen.
You want to make sure that when he's out there,
he's at full strength. He's the guy who's gonna be
(08:03):
a starter in your rotation, at the top of your
rotation next year, and you're gonna have him for years
to come. You don't have to rush show Hay out.
He has not pitched all year, right, This isn't This
isn't the Jacob de gram was pitching now.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Pitching for the Rangers. He's not in that situation.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
They're trying to see if this guy is okay and
have him feel good about himself going into next year
because the Grama has had all these injuries. In the
case of show, hey, I just don't want to risk it.
If I'm the Dodger, I don't listen.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Listen.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
To be fair, no one wants to risk anything. Right,
If you put Dave Roberts on the hot seat and
you said you have to answer this question I bet
you was answered me and no. If you maaning you
only can say yes or no, he would choose no. However,
leaving that crack in the door. And at the end
of the day, what do we talk about earlier Tua,
He's gonna give you that look like, hey man, I
know I've had this in my third, one, three, I'm
(09:01):
ready to play, And I think Dave Roberts just saying
if I kind of look over my shoulder and show
he gives me a look like, hey man, I'm not
putting up fifty to fifteen for no reason. I don't
want to join the team to be really good for
eight or nine years and your and never win anything.
Only if there's a moment where, hey man, we need him,
he can get a couple outs, few outs, and we
(09:22):
can continue to go moving forward and try to get
this World Series title and add on to this amazing
historic season. That crack is there, That's all I'm saying.
That's why he can leaves the crack open. Odds are
it's not gonna happen. Odds are we won't see this,
but you best believe he's leaving that crack open.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
I'm gonna say this now Bow has a baseball podcast,
a Dodger podcast.
Speaker 5 (09:43):
Bowt tell everybody the Dodgers own the Sick podcast network,
me and Ryan Berschinger and Lonzie Blagos.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Yes, yes, and so they cover the Dodge exclusively on
the on the.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
I'm crazy right for leaving that crack open.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
But I'm asking Bowl both tell everybody who's heard on
the rotation and the risk if he gets hurt?
Speaker 2 (10:02):
Why can't it risk me? What if we if they don't,
they don't pitching is what my point. I agree.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
If he was like the missing piece, I get it.
But they're missing three starters, like it's just not enough.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
It's a team bo you answer this to We were
talking about this, I think yesterday or in the last
couple of days.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
It's not like they're this.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
This season's open, right this, This baseball season is open,
and it's kind of anybody. So I think there's a
change of looking like we don't have the pitching right now,
but we find ourselves in it. You never know, and
we know more than any of the sport baseball. You
literally don't know. It's not like the Warrior seven years ago.
You can almost just hand them the championship. I think
Dave Roberts are saying, Look, I'm only gonna do this
if I'm looking at a World Series possibility. I'm sick
(10:45):
of being close and not getting a cigar. Let's go
for it. Bo, Yeah, what are you saying? I'm crazy?
Speaker 5 (10:51):
No, I think honestly if you're yeah, you've grew down
to like you need three outs to win the World
Series and Otani is looking at you like I can
get you those three outs. I think you do it.
But what I don't do is just throw him into
the fire and ask him to pitch multiple innings. I
think that's a disaster because, like Rob said, the only
starters they have right now that are healthy are Yoshinobu Yamamoto,
which is a game he just got. And Flarity. Yeah, Flarity,
(11:14):
who's a free agent, so they can use him as
much as they like everybody else. You have no idea
like Kershaw, like maybe you can't put Bobby Miller out
there in the playoffs. I Bobby Miller should not make
another start for this Dodgers team. Walker Bueller is gonna
get a sympathy start because they have to. He has
and he hasn't been good. Like Yeah, So and and
who else is injured? Everybody? Gavin Stone's hurt, Emitchian's hurt,
(11:37):
everybody's hurt. Yeah, just what I'm saying, it's great, Like
these games that they have right now, it's seven, it's
nine to seven right now, Like you have to hope
that they just hold the other team to five runs
to win the.
Speaker 6 (11:48):
Aren't you you're miss I think you're missing your point. No,
I think I agree with you. Like if if it's
do or die game seven of the World Series, hopefully
game four, and they're up three to zero and there's
just three outs left to get and there's only three
outs left to get, and that you win the title.
Speaker 5 (12:03):
Yeah, I don't get like blowout Tony's arm out. I
don't care at that point.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
Just win the World's here, And I think that's simply
my point, Robber.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
But but if you put him out there and something
goes bad and he has to miss another year or something.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
Like, that's me.
Speaker 5 (12:14):
He misses another year pitching, right, he's so right? Yeah,
but oh that's I trade that ten times out of
ten times, and there you go, and he's gonna if
he's gonna hit fifty home runs every year if the basis. Yeah, yeah,
but what makes is that he can pitch and hit.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
That's gonna make some special. He's got undred million dollars.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
And guess what, we got another World Series title in
this hypothetical situation we're creating because you're already get on
the Dodgers. No, man, he always good, but they never
win anything. Oh you only got one title in the
last ten to fifteen years. And and it's about thirty.
How great they've been this run of being great? Right
they and then they finally get one. Get off our
back and you say, man, that was a short season.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
It was COVID All right, we want to hear from
you eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven,
seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. If you're
the Dodgers, would you mess around and put show Hail
Tani on the mound when he wasn't supposed to pitch
all year? Dodgers are shorthanded. I don't think they have
enough pitching to really win a World Series. There's just
(13:12):
two many injuries, and I would be afraid is the
risk worth the reward?
Speaker 2 (13:19):
Is it? Calvin thinks it is.
Speaker 4 (13:22):
Because the scenario they're painting is we got a chance
to either get to a World Series side or win one.
That's the only reason why you even have this guy.
You would entertain this conversation. All right, Well, we want
to hear from you. Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
Speaker 1 (13:34):

bunch of percent is off, Rob, Rob Parker, Kevin Washington
with you having a conversation, Rob breaking it down. You
you believe listen show Hey Special. You can't put them
(15:45):
that's whatever. Yep, don't don't do it when you want
to go to pitch them. All year you wanted them
to be totally healthy, and now it seems like they're
rushing because of they're in this situation where they're down
some pictures. I just don't think they have enough pitching
to win to Why risk it on a team that
I don't think can win the World Series because of
the injuries? And I only I do not disagree to
(16:06):
anything you said, except for I think it's only being
set by Dave Roberts because he's in his head putting
himself in a hypothetical position where I got a chance
to say, you know, win the NLCS and go to
the World Series, or win the World Series. That's the
only imaginable time you would put o Tiny in that
situation if he gives you a look, hey man, we
need a few outs to get to the World Series
(16:28):
or to win this thing.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
I'm your man, and Ted Win from the Athletic is
coming up in about seven minutes. Per First, your phone calls,
where are you on this old tiny controversy? Should he
go in and pitch a little bit or just let
him take the whole year off to get completely healthy?
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. Let's start here,
(16:49):
Scott in Michigan. You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio.
What's up, Scott?
Speaker 10 (16:54):
Okay, Well, first of all, there's a couple of things
you guys need to think they need to think about.
I would only put them in there as if it
was Game seven or even Game four and you're up
three to nothing on the series and there's three outs
in the ninth inning, and then I'll put him in there.
But now the thing is you still you can say
go in there, but it's gonna be his decisional Tiny,
(17:14):
because he's thinking this. If I go in there and
I screw up my arm, I might not be able
to pitch anymore. There goes more money for my contract,
So Tany's going to be his decision overall because he's
got to look at himself financially future.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
Well, I got the seven hundred million yet.
Speaker 4 (17:32):
Yeah, that doesn't changed, right, seven hundred million, get the money,
and remember they gave it to him with an injury.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
Yeah, think about that.
Speaker 4 (17:40):
A great point, and usually that doesn't happen, especially with
that severity, especially one person who we expect to pitch
in hit but ultimately to Thanks for the cliche, Scott,
but ultimately, again, what I think we've learned, especially now
that he's in a Dodger uniform, you get to see
him more often, and and he's had this magical special
season where he may get fifty to fifty and he's
doing amazing things. I think I think you see all
(18:01):
that he can do. You can put him on the
outfit if you want it. Right, he's still in bases,
he can run, he hits. I think he would want
to be in this position to win, Like he strikes
me as somebody that win. So I'm saying Scott was saying,
you know, he may be apprehensive, what if I can hurt?
I think he's like, man, if we can win his
World Series, put me out there.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
I don't disagree with that, but you just gotta look
at the long term, like the Dodgers would be kicking
themselves or something bad. You always have to look at
everything and give all the scenarios because if you don't.
That's why I thought the Jets made a big mistake
last year that they didn't have a viable backup for
Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Like, you got a thirty nine year old quarterback? What
are you thinking? Right? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (18:42):
And what happened this season went right down the tubes
after the four snaps because they weren't ready prepared to
have a quarterback A man. Sean Sean from Sacramento, one
of our regulars. You're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Sean?
Speaker 11 (18:58):
Yeah? Another my cousin Kelvy and my brother's behind the boys.
How y'all fellas living today?
Speaker 2 (19:05):
What is that town?
Speaker 11 (19:07):
Hey?
Speaker 5 (19:08):
Man?
Speaker 11 (19:08):
You already know what time it is up here in
northern California. Man, I'm glad to see the Dodgers struggling
right now. Man. They'll never live down, man, They'll never
be like my giants. Man every other year for what
five or six years in a row. But what I'll say,
is this man, why would you mortgage your future for
not even a guaranteed championship this year? My man is
(19:28):
sitting on more than a half a million dollars. It's
not worth it. Man. He's coming back from They're not
gonna call it Tommy John, but he's basically coming back
from Tommy John. I can't think of any other pitchers
that will return that quickly from that kind of surgery.
And on top of that, you got to put some
of this on the people that built this team. Where
was a pitching rush during the offseason? Where was a
pitcher rush d in the trade deadline? You can't force
(19:50):
this man to get out there and try to perform. Now,
you got to get out there and get better pitching.
Speaker 7 (19:54):
Man.
Speaker 11 (19:54):
This is bad preparation, just like Rob said, Just like
the Aaron Rodgers situation. The Dodgers got a hear that.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
It's not Sean.
Speaker 4 (20:02):
You know what it is. Sean just don't want to
see the Dodgers win, That's what it is. He's like
in California. He's like, dang, if they putting it, they
putting show hay in. That means it's a world series.
Like we said, a game four, Game seven, or some
big time situation. I don't want to be out there
those giants and they won.
Speaker 5 (20:20):
What else were the Dodgers supposed to do with the deadline?
Didn't they get the best available pitcher?
Speaker 11 (20:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Yeah, I mean tell tell them, But boy, they made
their moves in the off season. They got Tyler Glass
now got hurt, right, they got him? Yeah, they signed
on Of course he wasn't gonna pitch. So there's a
lot of stuff that.
Speaker 5 (20:40):
Yeah, And I think the Bueller and Bobby Miller is
the real are the.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
Ones that really killed them. They were banking on them. Now,
the Kershaw I wasn't in. I know he's a Dodger icon,
but I wasn't like bringing him back. You know, you
got no but but bringing him back thinking he's gonna
be ready for the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
They keep doing the same thing. Yeah, I mean, listen,
what else you're gonna do? Listen?
Speaker 1 (20:59):
So we got we got. I just got a scout
of report on Kerse. I just got a scout of report.
And then and and he warmed up the other day.
They're still looking for the ball, but they think he's
gonna be Okay, I'm just saying Listen.
Speaker 4 (21:12):
My man has had some bad outings in the postseason.
He is an icon, and you know what, you know
what about they getting the postseason, He's gonna have a
magical sind like a magical moment.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
He deserves it.
Speaker 4 (21:24):
He wonderful human being. He and his wife, they do
great things for so many and all of that is good.
Whatever you say, I don't that is good, nobody. This
ain't no Lifetime Achievement award.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
We're talking about whatever we're talking about now this postseason
and the Dodgers need pitching against.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
You said that, whoever you said that.
Speaker 4 (21:44):
When curse goes out there and only gives you four,
but it's gonna be a good four inax, all right,
that's all you're gonna give you, But it's gonna be
a good.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
For inning, all right. I'll remember that, all right.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
Speaking of Spike and somebody getting ready to spike this
segment with us, said Win, and NFL staff writer at
the Athletic joins us now to have some conversations about
the NFL. Of course, you can follow him FB Underscore
film analysis on x as well when're company live from
the ti iraq dot Com studios.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
Ted, what's happening. How are you welcome to the odd couple?
Speaker 12 (22:17):
Thanks for having me on, guys, Well.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
No doubt.
Speaker 1 (22:19):
Let's start here with Tua and what this means. So
he couldn't come back before week A, what what do
you think is going to happen? Here? Will just be
a ton of evaluations to see where he is in
six weeks and then make a determination if he's going
to continue his career or maybe retire.
Speaker 12 (22:38):
Yeah, I'm not a medical expert, so it's hard to say.
And he's going to get evaluated and I'm sure, you know,
buy some of the best people, and I'm sure he
needs to get multiple opinions on how it's going to
look moving forward, because this is such a dangerous thing.
We've never seen a player kind of have that sort
of reaction where he's kind of tensing up and having
(22:59):
that fencing posture twice in a very short time period.
That's a pretty scary thing. And we know a lot
more about head injuries now, and you know, I think
he wants to come back on a field by the
same time, I think this is something that has to
be heavily scrutinized, and this decision that can't be taken
lightly because we don't want to see anything happen to
(23:21):
him that's going to affect him long term.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
Obviously, Yeah, Ted, it's been sad to see you know,
him go through this.
Speaker 4 (23:25):
Obviously very likable guy, a talented guys, have a really
you know, good overall NFL career thus far as only
twenty six years old. I'll switch gears a little bit
on you to hear Ted, what's more surprising some of
the teams that are two and zero. Maybe if you
want to look at the Saints and in dominant fashion
of what they've done it maybe on points like crazy
to go exactly, maybe it's the Bengals, the Bengals or
(23:46):
the Ravens who are zero and two give me maybe
your first couple of games, first couple of weeks, a
team or two on maybe both ends of the spectrum
that you're surprised that or kind of got to scratch
your head a little bit.
Speaker 12 (23:58):
I mean this, I think the are one of the
most surprising stories in the whole NFL. I mean people
were writing off the Saints like they could be one
of the worst teams in the league, and right now
they you know, if you're just looking at the numbers,
they're the best team. You know, a big problem. I
think I always thought Derek Carr would fit really well
in this kind of sh Shanahan's Kubiak system, but the
(24:20):
problem was his numbers dropped dramatically when he gets pressured,
and the same offensive line looked like it was gonna
be one of the worst lines in the league. But
they've done a great job of running the ball, play action,
finding ways to protect him where he doesn't have to
just straight drop back and deal with the pressures. And
to his credit, he's been very good under pressure. He's
(24:42):
been able to stand in the pocket and makes them
these big brows while while getting hit. So it just
has up to Kubiak and how they put together that
offense in New Orleans. And I think it's very surprising
that the Ravens are zero and two. I mean, they
played against Chief and you kind of expect that, you
know it's gonna be a hard game to win narrowhead,
(25:03):
but they dropped that game against the Raiders, which was
pretty huge. They were in control that game for most
of the game, and then towards the end, DeVante Adams
was making big plays, Brock Powers were making big plays,
and they're that zero to two hole that's, as we know,
it's very hard to come back from. I think eighty
percent of teams that are zero and two don't end
up making the playoffs. The Ravens have a way of
(25:25):
figuring things out, but I mean, I did not expect
them to be oh and two at this point.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
Our guest is Ted winn NFL staff Ryder for the
Athletic joining us here on the odd couple Fox Sports Radio.
Let's go to Justin Fields. Has he done enough to
be the starting quarterback of the Steelers? One touchdown and
the bigger thing, I guess no turnovers, which he's very
prone of doing.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
He hasn't.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
He hadn't lit it up, but he hasn't hurt anything.
So where where what have you seen from him?
Speaker 12 (25:57):
Yeah? And also he hasn't taken that many sacks. And
Steelers offensive line is bad, Like they are very bad
at pass blocking right now, they're kind of figuring out
the run game that they're switching to an outside zone
run game under Arthur Smith. And you can see, yes,
sometimes they they're able to block it and other times
there's a lot of inconsistencies. But they're very bad at
(26:17):
pass blocking right now, and Justin Fields has been notorious
for taking a lot of sacks, which hurts the offense
and put them out of position for field goals and
that kind of deal. But he's only taken two sacks
for the season playing under a lot of duress, so
that's that's some progress. And he's also had a maybe
four or five really beautiful throws taken away by questionable penalties.
(26:40):
So you know, I think I don't know if Russell
Wilson is going to do much better in the system.
I think you continue to ride with Justin Fields and
let them continue to make progress with this offense and
let them kind of grow together. But I just I
don't know if Russell Wilson, at this point of his career,
with this mobility just not there anymore, is going to
(27:01):
do much better behind that steelersself. It's a flying See.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
My thing is just takes a bad game by Justin
Fields to make people maybe change their mind. You know,
as long as he plays clean football and all that,
you know what I mean, you can live with them.
But it's the two turnovers then they lose a game.
I just think that they would go to Russell Wilson.
Speaker 4 (27:19):
I don't agree with that, though, Rob, because I think
there's an element of likability with Justin Fields, and I
think if the team is riding with him, team wants
to support him, they're liking him.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
Russell Wilson, he could have been a quarterback from the
start though, if they if it was all about that.
Speaker 4 (27:33):
Right, But on paper, you go, you got Russell Wilson.
He's proven, probably headed to the Hall of Fame. You're like,
all right that you know, I don't know about that.
Probably probably if you know, we'll talk about that. Well,
argue about that later, all right, Ted, Ted win with us.
I'm looking at right now a team that's kind of
flying under the radar. They didn't play necessarily great teams,
so but they are too and zero And one of
(27:54):
the issues with this team is that they didn't win
the games they were supposed to win. I'm talking about
the Chargers. There's two and on Jim Harbaugh era and
we know he just find cakes. I got a toothday,
Come all the cupcakes. That's true, but they lose to
a lot of cupcakes too. They're walking around here tooth
lists the last few years. So isn't it good to
see them win. What do you make of that Jim
Jim Harbaugh era thus far.
Speaker 12 (28:17):
I mean, Jim Harbaugh did exactly what he said he
was going to do, and this team is built in
his image. They're running the ball hard, even when they're
not getting a lot of great games on the ground,
they're still banging their head against the wall until they
pop off some runs and then they're playing great defense.
And it's just kind of funny to see. You know,
(28:38):
we all knew this was going to happen, but it's
kind of funny to see it play out. And this
is what he did in San Francisco. When he first
got their team, they didn't expect them to be good,
but then you know, he won the games he was
supposed to win against infier teams, and you know, I
don't maybe the Raiders aren't as infurious we thought they
were because they went and beat the raven.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
But you have Justin Do you have Justin Herbert?
Speaker 1 (28:59):
You really not use In that guy really like he's
gonna be You could go get gardener Menshew to furniture
store and have him hand off the ball if that's
all you're gonna do. Really, Justin Herbert is not gonna
throw the ball well.
Speaker 11 (29:12):
I mean, who's he throwing to?
Speaker 12 (29:13):
Quentin Johnson.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
I mean, you got rid of everybody. That's my point.
That's my that's my point.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
I don't understand what's the point on having him ted
if he doesn't have any weapons that gold to It
doesn't make sense to me.
Speaker 10 (29:26):
Ted.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
Let him know.
Speaker 12 (29:28):
They're rebuilding that team and they're starting off with what
they want to do. They want to be a tougher team.
I mean, Keenan Allen is old, he's hurt right now.
Mike Williams is I don't know, he's played like five
snaps the season. So I think it was the right
decision to get rid of those guys and then it's
gonna take some time to build. I think lab mcconcky's
going to be a good receiver, and you know, we'll
see how Johnston kind of develops. But I mean, it's
(29:50):
hard to argue with what they've done. They drafted Joe
Alt and he's been like a very good right tackle,
not just in terms of a rookie, he's been a
very very good I tackled borderline elite right tackle right
off the bat, and that offensive line looks a lot
better than it did last season. And you know, last year,
if Justin Herbert performed, you know, had the numbers that
(30:12):
he hit he did in these first two games, they
would have been blown out. But they won these two games.
And I like what they're doing, and I think the
passing game will get a lot better as the season progressive.
We also have to remember Herbert's hurt. I mean, he
has a hurt foot and he's not very mobile right now.
Speaker 4 (30:27):
Listen, thank you Ted Win for speaking some sense to
into Rob Parker, because listen, you got Justin Herbert.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
Now you slowly progress. Nobody's balling out.
Speaker 4 (30:34):
No quarterbacks really balling out thus far in the season,
Ted Wbman, we appreciate the NFL staff rudder at the
Athletic FB Underscore Film Analysis on X.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
We appreciate it.
Speaker 12 (30:43):
Man, Thank you so much, thanks for having me on GUSH.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
Nobody's balling out right now.
Speaker 4 (30:48):
Nobody's throwing up Peyton Manning in two thousand and eight
type numbers right now.
Speaker 2 (30:51):
Quarterback wise, everybody's working their way into it.
Speaker 4 (30:54):
I trust what Jim Harbaugh has been able to do
every step of the way, and I think the best
of Justin Herbert is you have to come in my
opinion as well, all right.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
And we also have a new feature that we're doing
on the Odd Couple where we have a last call.
Maybe you didn't get in earlier about something you wanted
to talk about, so it's last call time on the
Odd Couple. And also we'll talk about Tennessee this ten
charge the tickets so that they can give to players.
(31:26):
I cry foul on this. I don't like it at all.
We'll talk about that. It is the Odd Couple, Rob Parker,
Kelvin Washington right here on Fox Sports Radio, and you

dot com the way tire buying should be. Rob you
want to talk about this, Tennessee? Yeah, can you can
you break it down? I was I was just about
(32:35):
to do that, my brother, Yes, So, Tennessee, Tennessee, Tennessee, Tennessee, Tennessee.
Great song. That's a great song. It's a great song.
Rest out the rest of development, not the TV show
with the group.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
That's right. The TV show came after the Yeah.
Speaker 4 (32:48):
So Tennessee is preparing for a chance to pay athletes
because it basically, you know, we have the house versus
the NCAA settlement that if it approves, it go throughs
it goes through, it would sting the era of revenue sharing.
Basically where these schools Robert like, hey, you have to
give some of this money to these players, which would
be about twenty two million, but once some new deals happened,
(33:09):
it could escalate up to thirty million by twenty twenty
five twenty twenty six seasons.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
So they basically came out and kept it real. Rob.
Speaker 4 (33:17):
They were like, hey, we're gonna put a four percent
fee a fourth, but it's gonna be a four print
cent increase on your tickets and basically it's a talent
fee and it's going directly to the talent. They said,
it's going to our student athletes as part of this
new world order in college sports. So I know our
fans will embrace it. See how you put the pressure
on the fans, Like, I know y'all gonna embrace playing
a ten percent talent fee. Gu's going straight to them.
(33:40):
So it's gonna be interesting. Some people you could argue with, say, right, hey,
I want to win. I love my school and whatever
it takes to help them them to win. And you
can look at it as at least they told me,
because Rob, you know when you go to order tickets
on Ticketmaster or a flight or rent a car or
hotel and there's all these fees, you have no idea
where it's going to. Right, at least you know where
(34:02):
your feet is going on this one, Like I'm going
to hell try to build a National.
Speaker 2 (34:05):
Champions It's cool that you know, but it's still garbage.
Speaker 1 (34:08):
And I'm gonna tell you why these colleges are so cheap.
They reap all this money. All they do is make
money hand over fists. And if they wanted to control
this nil, what they could have done right is paid
the money themselves and this way they could have regulated it.
But they didn't want to do that, so they let everybody.
(34:30):
That's why it's the wild wild West because they didn't.
They were like, well, we're not gonna pay it, so
then when you open it up for other people, that's
why you have what you have. And now they want
to pass on. Where's the money you're getting from Fox
and all these other places and CBS and NBC for
all these college football games in ESPN, Why aren't you
(34:51):
using that money? And like the idea that they're gonna
continue to pile on the fans and make them pay
the freight is weridiculous. And the coaches are making million
here's the problem, Rob.
Speaker 2 (35:03):
And I gotta pay nine dollars for dyek coke. Guess
who's gonna pay fans? No, But I'm just saying this wrong.
It is wrong and I'm gonna add on to I'm
gonna add on to what's wrong what they're doing here.
Speaker 4 (35:14):
So basically, they try to compare this to when you
go to a restaurant if how many of us are here,
about five six of us right now, and you go
to some restaurants and they say, we gotta charge you
a fee because it's you know, seven eight of you,
we got to automatically charge you.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
That's what they're comparing those to. So Tennessee winning the
national championship. I'll wait, okay, so is that what we're
talking about? So if they don't win the national championship,
do I get a refund?
Speaker 2 (35:37):
Nah?
Speaker 4 (35:37):
Brothers, It's like insurance, not insurance should be in case
blank happens? Do I get my money back if blank
doesn't happen? Like the great Chris Rock always said, that's
what that's not the case.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
Look, I'm with it this again. I think this is
all week.
Speaker 4 (35:51):
The only caveat I'll say is at least they're telling you.
Speaker 2 (35:55):
That's the only caveat I'll give you. Is that.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
So whatever minute I'm gonna tell you, I'm gonna spit
in your face, ready for it?
Speaker 2 (36:00):
Is that what they're telling the fans. At least.
Speaker 4 (36:02):
What I'm saying is I'm gonna spit in your face.
Don't charge me a fee and then not tell me,
don't target me and feeing. Then it's just say a
general fee or a service fee, and I have That's
what Tenny Master is getting sued right now. I get it, like, hey, hey,
what's all.
Speaker 2 (36:17):
These fees for?
Speaker 4 (36:18):
So they should I'm I'm with you. Look, you guys
are making TV money. They're making money handle making and
endowment and people around there.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
You ever go get a fry and a hot dog
at a sporting event and how much you pay for Have?
Speaker 4 (36:31):
I got a family of five? You already know, let
me tell you. And honestly, sports have gotten carried away
by the way all sports. When a movie thirty dollars
for a tuba pop, you know what, the parking is
fifty to one hundred dollars at a preseason game, so
you got to park.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
Then I gotta get the tickets for the three or
four of us.
Speaker 4 (36:49):
You know, you and your wife, are kids, you a
couple of buddies, whatever it is, you're looking at what
at least one hundred dollars per person, at least now
we have five hundred dollars.
Speaker 2 (36:57):
That's ridiculous.
Speaker 12 (36:58):
Food.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
Don't have it earn by a jersey. You can't even
go into gift shop. You're like, Mommy, what we doing
this summer?
Speaker 4 (37:05):
We're going to U We're gonna buy the tickets now
to go to a football NFL game, right, that's our
family trip.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
They gotta relax.
Speaker 1 (37:12):
It's gotten crazy, it's outrageous, and all they keep doing
is gouging. They're going to stop the average fans from
being able to go to the ballpark because they keep
piling on.
Speaker 2 (37:23):
There's never I've never heard of a team on the take.
Speaker 1 (37:26):
The teams that ever do some ticket brids or what
the bad ones, teams that do well, they never give
a break. The only place I heard one time the Falcons.
They dropped all their concession right to two dollars for
a hot dog, two dollars for a refillable drink, and
they made boot coool money because they sold in volume.
They're not because most people will not pay for a
(37:46):
nine dollar coke.
Speaker 2 (37:47):
They just won't do.
Speaker 4 (37:48):
I remember the governor of Minnesota was proposing and I
don't remember exactly what all happened, but he was saying,
why is it if you go to McDonald's a in
an airport, if it's supposed to be eight dollars for
your meal, why is it now fifteen? I mean it's
the same McDonald I'm just in an airport in set
up on Main Street.
Speaker 2 (38:04):
And so he was saying, yeah, you know has a
govern I'm gonna get rid of that. I don't know it.
Speaker 10 (38:07):
We did it like that.
Speaker 2 (38:08):
You're terrible, all right?
Speaker 12 (38:10):
Man?
Speaker 1 (38:11):
Day two of the Odd Couple, Rob Parker Kelvin Washington. Man,
we got another busy day tomorrow Wednesday or not?
Speaker 2 (38:19):
What are we doing? No, it's up to you, Alice.
What should I do?
Speaker 10 (38:23):
Bro?
Speaker 2 (38:23):
What should we do? Who could I got for worship Wednesday? Thought?
One thing?
Speaker 4 (38:28):
Keep the cloth going. I don't believe it to shout out,
Shout out to Jesus, Shout out to uh. Chris, Jason
Smith and Mike Harmon are up next right here on
five fourth Radio
