Speaker 2 (00:24):
Let's get this, puny, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
It is The Odd Couple, our number three on the
Trash Talking Tuesday.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
You guys did a terrific job with the trash Talking.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
We are live from the tirereg dot com studios. Tireg
dot com will help you get there. They've got an
unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free row hazard protection, and
more than ten thousand recommended installers. Tirereg dot com is
the way tire by should be. As I mentioned last hour,

(01:02):
we'll have doctor David Chow, former NFL team doctor, joining
us at the bottom of the hour to talk about
Joe Burrow and whatever other injuries we might want to
discuss going on in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
So keep it like for that, But rob let's move to.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
The NBA, and I don't know if these it probably
wouldn't be right to call these developments. But there's a
lot of stuff being reported about a possible Damian Lillard
trade and it is not to the Miami Heat. Rob

(01:41):
g kind of if you can summarize all these various
reports that are out there about Damian Lillard and where
he could end.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
Up, absolutely the most prominent report comes to us courtesy
a friend of the show, Mark Spears, currently with ESPN's.

Speaker 5 (01:55):
As Hall of Fame Basketball.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
That's right, the Hall of Fame re Mark Spears, get
it right. He's reporting that the Toronto Raptors have entered
this week as the front runners to trade for Damian Lillard,
according to two high ranking NBA team executives. According to Spears,
the hope for Portland is to make a deal before

(02:19):
Media Day, which would be October two, And the reason
why the Raptors are considered the front runners is because
they could create a package featuring guys like two time
All Star Pascal Siakam.

Speaker 5 (02:33):
Just signed a big deal, didn't he.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
No, he's entering the last year of his deal, twenty
twenty two NBA Rookie the Year Scottie Barnes, and a
og Anenobi, who has been the apple of every team's
eye at the trade deadline. One thing all three of
those guys have in common. They are all wing players,
unlike what Miami has, which is headlined by a guard
Tyler Hero.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Here's the problem with that, though, If you're the Toronto Raptors,
why would you want Damian Lillard If you don't have
those players with him, You're not winning anything. With Damian
Lillard and a bunch of minor players, you're basically becoming

(03:16):
Toronto East.

Speaker 6 (03:18):
I mean Portland, Portland East. They're still trying to it's
still I hear what you're saying, but everybody can't operate
like that, that that you're not well this. You're not
gonna win the championship. You have a business. You're trying
to sell tickets. You're trying to tell people you're trying
to win. We brought a name player star. So I
I hear what you're saying. But but let me say this, Chris.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
And I'm not giving up and being Scottie Barnes to
get but let.

Speaker 5 (03:44):
Me let but let me say this.

Speaker 6 (03:46):
The reason that this hasn't happened, there's there's two reasons. A.
When he went public, he killed Portland's chance of leveraging
and getting the best deal for Miami, and b Miami
has refused this up and do what the guy wants
to be there, right, and they haven't done put the
package or the deal together to make it happen.

Speaker 5 (04:09):
If this thing doesn't happen.

Speaker 6 (04:10):
In Miami, it's gonna be because Miami, for whatever reason
Chris decided they were gonna hold on to a player
that they didn't want to give up in this uh
and this deal to make it happen. That's why this
isn't happening. It's not Portland's fault. Miami's not budget.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Yeah, I mean, there was a report the other day
Rob about pat Riley feeling like they can win the
East without Lillard.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
That's what I'm say.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
They want him, but that they're not desperate and they won't,
you know, give up the farm, so to speak, to
get him.

Speaker 6 (04:43):
But we keep talking, Chris, they're not gonna win a
championship Miami, and they'll keep doing the same thing.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
It's not.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
And I don't know that they will with him, but
I agree like they're they might obviously they've won the
East two of the last four years, but they don't
mean it's gonna happen this year, right, and are they
could they? I mean they didn't give well, it was
five games against Denver. They didn't give Denver a series,
and so I agree, I don't think they can win

(05:10):
a championship without Damian Lillard. But the notion that they
feel like Rob, that like they're not willing. Nobody's asking
for Bam and Jimmy Butler.

Speaker 6 (05:24):
Thank you, Chris, if you get the key ring, thank
you that that's on the that's on the heat, Chris,
that's absolutely on the heat. It would be one thing
if if Portland was saying we need Bam, well, then
that doesn't make sense.

Speaker 5 (05:38):
I get that.

Speaker 6 (05:39):
But if but if Bam and Jimmy aren't involved, you
gotta give to get?

Speaker 3 (05:44):
What?

Speaker 5 (05:44):
What?

Speaker 3 (05:45):
What trade?

Speaker 5 (05:45):
Is this a fans trade? Would they trade the last
four guys on the bench, Chris for like a star player?
Those are the trades that fans come up with, Rob.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
How would you feel, Uh, if Damian Lillard gets trade
to the Toronto Raptors.

Speaker 6 (06:03):
I would be all right with it because I want
Toronto to do what's in their best interest.

Speaker 5 (06:07):
You mean that's Portland.

Speaker 6 (06:09):
I'm sorry if I want Portland to do what's in
their best interest. Whatever is going to help their organization
going forward. Damien, knowingly knowing where that franchise was signed
an extension, he asked his way out, and he limited
their leverage by saying he only wants to go to Miami.

Speaker 5 (06:27):
Put them in.

Speaker 6 (06:28):
A bad spot, and if they whatever, they can do
the best deal that's out there.

Speaker 5 (06:33):
I'm with that deal. For Portland as an organization, I
just them.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
I'm with you.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Look, their responsibility is to do what's best for their fans.
And I'm not saying I want them to trade Damian
Lillard to Toronto. I don't care where they're trading. It'd
be exciting if he got to Miami. Be exciting if
he went to Boston or some you know, someplace that's
a legit contender. And and to be honest, it could

(06:59):
be exc if he ended up in Toronto if they
were able.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
To keep their top players. But Rob, people kill me
with this. The Blazers, old Dame.

Speaker 6 (07:13):
They don't owe him anything, Chris. They paid him every
dime that he got in his car. What do they
owe him, Rob?

Speaker 1 (07:19):
He's got four years left on this deal at basically
two hundred and ten, two hundred and twenty million dollars
something like that, forty five million this year, coming up
forty eight point eight the next year fifty eight point
five and then sixty three point two. All right, And

(07:40):
like you said, he signed that deal knowing they weren't contenders.

Speaker 5 (07:44):
Thank you, Chris.

Speaker 6 (07:46):
That could have been your chance right then and there
not to sign it and go decide you're gonna go
take your talents elsewhere.

Speaker 5 (07:53):
You could have done that.

Speaker 6 (07:54):
Just like I was mad, like the Harden, you know,
opting into Philadelphia. Dude, if you didn't want to be there,
don't opt in and go get a deal somewhere.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
Did that because he wanted that money.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
But I mean rob like and again what Portland Old
Dame was to treat him with respect, which they did,
and to pay him what the contract deal was, and
they they rewarded him handsomely. And the feeling people all
Dame Dame did a lot, and the Dame did he

(08:26):
played great, but that's his job.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
And he didn't do it for free. He did it
for a huge.

Speaker 6 (08:35):
Money, like for top dollars, and he didn't give a hometown.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
People talking about I get it. Be great.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
He's a star, he's a future Hall of famer. You
love to see him win a ring, but it kills me.
They owe him to send him to another team that
doesn't That makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Speaker 6 (08:58):
And for a deal, quiz that doesn't benefit them, that's
what they like. Just take whatever they offer just so
that he can get where he wants to go.

Speaker 5 (09:07):
Well, who cares what you get back in return?

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Really?

Speaker 6 (09:10):
Oh, you don't want to strip down the heat because
they're trying to win a championship. So you take the
last four guys on the end of the bench and
a draft pick and be happy.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
Is crazy because Dame is putting his interests ahead of
the Blazers and that's his right. But don't get mad
when the Blazers put their interests ahead of you. And
that's really what it boils down to. This is the business.
And look again, I love to see him go to
a contender. I'll be fine with him going to Miami,

(09:41):
but I'm not gonna cry foul if they send him
to Toronto or wherever they send them.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
He asks to be traded. Once you do that, I
mean to be honest.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
Even if you don't ask, they can trade you anywhere
they want to, you know, but you still get your
money wherever you go. And this is gonna be interesting,
Rob if he if he does go to the Raptors.
You know, I think he'll be professional in play and

(10:13):
rob the Raptors. And this is why I don't believe
like they're not. I don't think they're gonna do it without,
you know, why giving up all those guys. They probably
have to give up a piece or two of their
you know, some of their top players. But remember Messiah
eu Jerry their gim Remember he traded for Kawhi Leonard

(10:34):
when the thinking was, oh, nobody will trade for Kawhi,
right he he he's only got a year left on
his deal and it got them the only championship enfranchise.

Speaker 6 (10:44):
Is and they'll take that every time, Chris, every time
one year you help us win, We're good.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
The thing with.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
Dame Rob is I just read he's got four years
left on his deal. Now, I mean, I guess he
could theory asked to be traded from Toronto if he
were traded there, But I mean they may look at it,
and you know, you mentioned, you know, the report said
they got a lot to give up for.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
Him, which they certainly do.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
But Rob, maybe they would look at like if they
traded some of their top players for him. Maybe they're thinking, Okay,
we've got him for four years, let's build around him,
you know what I mean, Like we got the peace,
we got the assets where we can get Dame as
our hub, and then we can go out and build

(11:36):
around him.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
Maybe that's what they would be thinking. Rob. I don't know, but.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
This is interesting because they certainly don't want to bring
him back for training camp.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
But I also think Rob, they won't make a bad.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
Deal and trade him just to trade him so he's
not doesn't show up for training camp.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
I think they're fine.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
And they may just say, look, stay away and until
you know, we give you permission to be away until
we get you get a deal for you.

Speaker 3 (12:07):
But I don't know.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
They've been patient so far, and I think they'll remain
patient until they get the type of deal they want.

Speaker 5 (12:15):
No doubt. It's gonna be interesting just to see.

Speaker 6 (12:17):
But I don't think he's going to Miami pat Riley
and those guys for whatever reason. Chris, you could have
long done this and got it over with. Remember the
Nets had all summer to trade Kevin Durant.

Speaker 5 (12:32):
They didn't do it. They just they couldn't get the deal.

Speaker 6 (12:34):
And feel like equal value or enough value for Kevin Durant.

Speaker 5 (12:39):
They didn't do it, could they?

Speaker 6 (12:40):
Could you see Damien Little going back, Chris if there's
no deal, Well.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
I could see, Like I said, I could see Portland
not trading before training camp, but I don't. It'd be
hard to imagine him playing there. You know, they want
to put the ball in school Anderson's hands. But maybe
they do it, you know, and trade him at the
deadline or something like that. Yeah, that might become available

(13:08):
after December fifteenth.

Speaker 5 (13:09):
Remember that's yeah, that's a good point. It could be that, Chris, definitely, Yeah, all.

Speaker 1 (13:14):
Right, you're turned away In eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox eight seven, seven, nine, nine, six sixty three
sixty nine, What are your thoughts about Damian Lillard potentially
being traded to Toronto?

Speaker 3 (13:28):
Is that fair of the Blazers or foul? Your thoughts?

Speaker 3 (15:00):
Are your thoughts.

Speaker 6 (15:03):
All right, let's go, Chris, here we go. Let's get
started with Raphael and Cincinnati. You're on the Odd Couple,
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (15:10):
What's up?

Speaker 9 (15:11):
What's going on? The brothers of odd Couple?

Speaker 3 (15:14):
Hey, what's up?

Speaker 1 (15:15):
Man?

Speaker 9 (15:16):
What's up? Hey? If Portland it winds up, where he
goes to Toronto is definitely fair in my opinion, in
a way, just like it was fair for Dame to
be content over the years and getting them bags of
cash up in Portland. Now, I know he was playing
for the best of his ability, you know, getting it in,
putting in work, But I don't know if he was

(15:38):
necessarily focus laser focused on a championship, because my thing
is if the Dames should have been been left Portland
if he wanted to really honestly play for a ship.
I think he was just getting bags of cash. And
don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to diminish his
work in the community. Much love from the fans and
everybody around. You know, definitely a model player, are to

(16:01):
be the greatest player in Portland's history. But I think
Dame now reality is kind of smacking him in the face.
Like you said earlier, Chris, brew is just it is
a business, you know, but he ends up in Toronto.
That's just how it rose.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Man, Yeah, I mean, it's it's the truth. And look,
I mean Dame has wanted everything. He's wonted.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
He didn't want to leave.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
Okay, cool, they paid him and all that, and he's
played hard. But once you ask for trade from a
team that was not going to trade you, I mean,
I look, I was saying a year ago.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
They should trade him.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
I thought it was good for both It was in
the best interest of both parties to seek a trade
because they.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
Weren't gonna win a championship with Dame.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
And you know, I figured he might want to Ring
and Rob had he given him a list, Now, it
doesn't mean they would have traded him. Remember Kyrie did
the Calves a list and they traded him somewhere that
wasn't on his list.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
Which was Boston.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
Right, So you just can't expect a team to be
limited to trading you to one place.

Speaker 6 (17:08):
So one team is just unfair. It just it just
limits everything that they can do. You want teams to
be bidding against each other, and it might be Miami,
and Miami finally realizes there's two other teams that are serious.
We're gonna have to up the ante and you still
get to go to Miami and they get what they want.

Speaker 5 (17:26):
Chris.

Speaker 6 (17:27):
If there was other teams involved, it's simple. Andre, remember
from Dre in a minute from Massachusetts. You're on the
couple of Fox Sports Radio, Dre.

Speaker 5 (17:35):
How are you?

Speaker 8 (17:37):
What's coming on? Thanks for taking the call. I'm doing well.

Speaker 3 (17:40):
Just what do you what are you doing?

Speaker 5 (17:42):
What do you referee in basketball?

Speaker 3 (17:44):
Which you're so busy doing.

Speaker 8 (17:46):
I'm not busy doing anything.

Speaker 9 (17:48):
You know.

Speaker 8 (17:48):
At the beginning, you know, I'm active in the schools
and whatnot.

Speaker 9 (17:51):
But I've been calling.

Speaker 8 (17:52):
But it's a very popular show. So you gotta get people.
You gotta get people on.

Speaker 10 (17:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (17:58):
Yeah, it might not be a popular in terms of
Damian Lillard. You know, he's got his eyes set on
South Beach, but he's gonna be in the Frozen North
in a heartbeat if he doesn't watch it. Because Massad
eu Jerry is serious as a heartbeat. It's serious as
the heart to excuse me, in terms of getting these
deals done, and he's proven that he's willing to go
all in on these deals kind of bring star players

(18:19):
into Toronto. Because it's he has nothing to lose for Toronto.
He's trying to catch lightning in a bottle with Kawhi
if he can make a run with Toronto and change
the status quo. Because they've obviously plateaued, they've gotten rid
of Nick Nurse, they have you know, so the current
group has reached you know, they're not gonna get They're
not going to compete for a championship. We all know
that Scotty Barnes is an up and coming player ANOBI.

(18:42):
And what they're saying is this young kid who has
a lot of swagger, Grady Dick. They're saying that the
Portland Trailblazers are intrigued with bringing this kid in six '
eight shooter and he could be the piece that they
just say we're doing this deal. And so at the
end of the day, Dame, I know, you know you
kind of have your heart set, but listen. Toronto. So
it's a great international city. Drake's there, Like, you'll have
a good experience for the one or two years that

(19:04):
you're there and then you can head out of there
and go to whatever team that it is that you
want to do. But this Toronto, I think Toronto. You
know that would be my odds on favorite, because at
the end of the day, as you guys have said,
pat Riley is only gonna spend him. But he's gonna spend.
He's not coming up off that number. We just know
that that's the Heat have their way of doing things,
and Ujerie is willing to overpay to get the deal done,

(19:26):
to bring the starrn and catch flightening in the bottle.
Thanks taking the call, all right.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
Thank you, Andrea. All right, yeah, Rob, it'll be interesting again.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
I would love to see Dame with the contender and
if Toronto can keep some of their better players Siakam
and I knew Nobi, Scottie Barnes, you know, I mean,
they'll be pretty good. I certainly wouldn't pick them to
win the East, but you know, I think they'd still
be a good team.

Speaker 5 (19:59):
So we'll see.

Speaker 3 (20:01):
It'll be interesting, Rob, where Damian Lillard ends up.

Speaker 6 (20:04):
That Chris says that the time keeps ticking and it
feels like Miami's dug in and they're refusing to move.
You had a chance to upgrade. You keep going to
the finals and losing. Chris with no fire with not
enough firepower, what's the big thing with the with the Heat,
there's not enough scoring, Chris, they can't win.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
Yeah, that's why.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
Look, it might not be I mean, before these latest
reports about the Heat, you know, not wanting to give
up the farm, the talk was that Portland didn't really
want the Heat's package, right, So you know, our team's
leaking stuff to try to you know, negotiate in the press, possibly.

Speaker 5 (20:48):
To derail the trade. Yeah, derail stuff.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (20:51):
So who knows what's going on, but you know it's
about time hopefully, I mean, I shouldn't say hopefully. If
if the Blazers want to don't get the deal they want,
they want.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
To keep him for a while. We'll see.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
But it's definitely gonna be interesting to see how this
plays out, one where he gets traded to and two
you know, I assume he will report he's always been professional.
But if it's not Miami, it'll be interesting to see
how Rob Parker or how Damian Lillard handles it.

Speaker 3 (21:21):
All right.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
David Chow, longtime NFL team physician, will join us at
the bottom of the hour in a couple of moments.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
Be sure to catch live editions of the odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 5 (21:41):
Yeah, let's go to Sean in Oregon. You're on the
odd Couple Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (21:44):
What up Sean?

Speaker 10 (21:46):
Hey, thanks for taking my call. You guys, I was
listening earlier about what he had to say about Dames,
and we're just being hopeful.

Speaker 9 (21:54):
We hope we get the.

Speaker 10 (21:55):
Best deal we can for him. We get some wings,
that's what we want around here. Yeah, we're you don't
need guards now now we we found his replacement, right.

Speaker 6 (22:07):
So so you got to get Are you mad at
the organization that they did that they're holding out for
what's best for them?

Speaker 5 (22:13):
You're not right?

Speaker 10 (22:14):
No, No, I'm being thankful. I think they're finally making
some of the better decisions I ever seen them make
because they're not making knee jerk reactions or they're they're
running a business like a business now, right, Having somebody
paying somebody sixty million dollars a year. Uh, an old
guy that don't play defense? That any't goodness?

Speaker 3 (22:33):
How are the fans feeling? Importantly?

Speaker 1 (22:35):
Because you know Dame was beloved up there? Did the
fact that he asked for trade sour some people on him,
or at this point do people just respect it and
they're cool with it.

Speaker 10 (22:48):
I think we've been kind of seeing this coming for
the last couple of years, you guys, And when when
the number three and Scoot fell into our lap, we
just had we just got to do what's right for
the franchise and right for the Blazers and the fans.
And I hope Dame in his next chapter in life.
We hope everything goes well for him.

Speaker 3 (23:06):
There you go, all right? All right, you can't get
much better than that, right, No, that's what I mean.

Speaker 5 (23:11):
God them, Chris, we talked about all the time. Somebody
doesn't want to be there.

Speaker 6 (23:16):
You can't force somebody there, but you do have to
act in the right interest of their franchise.

Speaker 5 (23:22):
Just can't give away people.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
But that's just it's just not good business, do you
you know? I can't remember who it was. I think
it was one of the callers and our our friend
of the show, Chris Haynes.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
On T T N T. He has said that he.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
Believes Damian Lillard is the greatest Blazer ever.

Speaker 3 (23:45):
Where are you at on that?

Speaker 1 (23:47):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (23:47):
Do you think it might be.

Speaker 5 (23:50):
Buck Williams.

Speaker 1 (23:51):
No, I'm just I'll go for I would go with
Clyde Drexler.

Speaker 5 (23:56):
I was gonna say it's hard for him.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
I mean some people I can't say Bill Walton, even
though he led him to a championship, just because his
career was so short lived and you know, he only
played a few years in Portland obviously great years. But
Clyde Drexler rob people forget how great Clyde was.

Speaker 5 (24:14):
The Glott.

Speaker 3 (24:17):
Let them led them to the twice to the NBA Finals.

Speaker 1 (24:22):
They lost once to Michael Jordan and the Bulls and
once Isaiah Thomas and the Pistons, And so Dame hasn't
led them to a finals. Both of them are on
the top seventy five team, and you know Drexler made
five All NBA teams, So.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
Yeah, I gotta go with Drexler. And then I know
what that is.

Speaker 5 (24:43):
It's recency. I mean, I get it with Chris Haynes.

Speaker 6 (24:46):
He's cool with Dame and it's what he covered right
when he was up there.

Speaker 5 (24:51):
So I get all that, But you just can't.

Speaker 6 (24:54):
Automatically because it happened more recent, like forget about your
fe your past and what guys did and accomplished, and
and Clyde has nothing zero to be you know, feeling
bad that he lost to Michael Jordans and to the

(25:15):
to the to the to the Pistons, you know what
I mean, Like those are two iconic Chris, I say
that about Patrick Ewing all the time. Michael Jordan was
in your way, you know what I mean. Michael Jordan
was in your way, like like you could say whatever youah,
and Elijah Wan you didn't lose to Rick Smith's you

(25:35):
know what I'm talking about, Like to not win the championship,
you lost the two great guys.

Speaker 3 (25:40):
Were in the way, Yeah, no question about it.

Speaker 1 (25:43):
And and the year that when they lost to Jordan
in ninety two, These were jrectss regular season numbers rop
twenty five points, six point seven assists, six point six
rebounds a game.

Speaker 3 (25:57):
He was a he was an all around player.

Speaker 5 (25:59):
Chris.

Speaker 6 (26:00):
Remember they weren't scoring one hundred and twenty every night
back then either.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
Right right?

Speaker 1 (26:05):
That Blazers team that year averaged well, they averaged one
hundred and eleven.

Speaker 3 (26:10):
So they put it up. But you know, still not
quite what teams are doing now.

Speaker 6 (26:15):
But I'll give you this one of my all time favorite,
Pete Vessi nicknamed you know when he was the premier
basketball columnists in the country right at the New York Post.
He's a Hall of Fame basketball rid himself, Peter Vessi,
and he gave to remember when the Trail Blazer were
having a lot of trouble with people getting arrested and

(26:36):
all kinds of problems going on.

Speaker 5 (26:38):
You remember that with.

Speaker 6 (26:39):
The team, and he nicknamed them the Portland jail Blazers.

Speaker 3 (26:43):
Right. In fact, there was something recently. I just saw
it on.

Speaker 1 (26:51):
Bob Witzitt, who was one of the gms with the Blazers.
Here's a quote for him from him, on my watch,
no tree Blazer ever went to jail. See, so think
about when you gotta say that, you know what I mean,
because a.

Speaker 5 (27:08):
Lot of guys were going to jail.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
Though back then that's like me saying, you know what,
none of my kids have gone to jail, you know, as.

Speaker 3 (27:15):
A low bar. As a low bar. But uh so, yeah,
all right.

Speaker 1 (27:20):
We apparently doctor David Child not available.

Speaker 5 (27:26):
He ripped his hamstring and can't make it also.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
But yeah, so we'll take it to the more calls
if you if you want to, everyone a weigh in
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine rop interest in
talk with Phoenix. There's talk about, you know, could they
get involved with this Damian Lillard trade, not to bring

(27:51):
him to them, but you know, maybe to show up
their depth. And there was talk Ben talk that they
maybe would send DeAndre eight to Portland for Useef Nurkic
and you know, maybe a little bit more. I like
that for Portland if if Ayton is in a good

(28:12):
mood and really happy to be there with those perimeter
players that they have, that's not bad. And then look,
Aytan is better than you Sef Nurkic, There's no doubt
about that. But Nurkic is tough. You know, he's a
good player. He's not great, but he's a good player.

(28:32):
And if they get some nice role players alongside him, Rob,
you know, I wouldn't hate a deal like that to
boost Portland's debt or Phoenix's depth.

Speaker 5 (28:43):
Yeah, they need some other help though we saw that
last year.

Speaker 8 (28:46):
Chris.

Speaker 3 (28:49):
I thought they did a good job. Yeah. I thought
they did a good job in.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
Free agency, you know, considering they didn't have much money.

Speaker 3 (28:57):
It wasn't you know they what they had to work with.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
I thought they did a good job of filling out
their roster with some three and D type guys, or
at least guys that you think could play be three and.

Speaker 3 (29:09):
D guys, long athletic.

Speaker 1 (29:12):
But you know, they don't have a point guard. Really,
They're gonna have Booker and Bill handle the ball and
kind of run the offense.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
And I think they can, There's no doubt about it.

Speaker 1 (29:24):
They won't be true point guards, but those guys are capable.
They're playmakers, so I don't think that would be their downfall.

Speaker 3 (29:32):
And they're they're kind of.

Speaker 1 (29:33):
Leaning in rob to this positionless basketball, So we'll see
if it works. But it's gonna be interesting, that is
for darn sure.

Speaker 3 (29:43):
All right.

Speaker 1 (29:44):
It is the eye couple, Chris Bruce Haard, Rob Parker,
and I don't know, we'll see. Will people be talking
about the Colorado Buffalos. Of course, Dion Sanders team in
a few weeks. I'll definitely be talking about them in
a few minutes, that's for sure.

Speaker 3 (30:02):

(30:37):
one eight hundred Progressive. Colorado was blasted last week forty
two to six by tenth rated Oregon, and now Colorado
no longer a top twenty five team. However, heading into
this weekend's game home game Saturday against you are a

(31:00):
usc they are still a big story.

Speaker 3 (31:05):
And Rob g give us the numbers.

Speaker 5 (31:07):
I mean, what's the spread though, what's the spread this week?
Is it twenty?

Speaker 4 (31:10):
We'll get to that in the second, Rob. But to
piggyback off, which you said, Chris, even though it was
a blowout, they got blowed out in the.

Speaker 5 (31:17):
Words of it got blowed out. That's what they say
at the barber shop.

Speaker 3 (31:20):
That's right.

Speaker 4 (31:21):
And the game was not competitive in any kind of way.
Even still, Oregon, Colorado had just over ten million viewers
on ABC, out drawing the nail bier.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
That was Notre Dame Ohio's date.

Speaker 4 (31:36):
Two top ten teams that came down to literally the
last play of the game, Colorado Oregon.

Speaker 3 (31:41):
I drew it television wise, that's incredible.

Speaker 5 (31:43):
Yeah. But the other thing too, that game is a
night game. It was a late game. I watched the
end of that. What time did that game? Man? Ten thirty?

Speaker 3 (31:54):
Yeah, thirty eleven, So yeah, it was a later.

Speaker 5 (31:56):
Game, but still time. Yeah, that's what people love. People
love both.

Speaker 6 (32:02):
They love to see what's going on with Dion in
a good way. And you know when they was getting
trashed throttled, people wanted to see it too, Chris.

Speaker 3 (32:10):
Yeah, you know what I mean. People wanted to see
how you people want to see it reacted. What is
quote if they.

Speaker 1 (32:16):
Talked, you know, talk to him or even talk to
the other coach right during halftime or at the end
of the game, what was he gonna say?

Speaker 3 (32:25):
Was he gonna trash Dion? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (32:27):
I mean people were mocking Chedure with the watch, you know,
Like I agree that that's a good point.

Speaker 6 (32:33):
I mean I just think that life going on. Yeah,
people want to see that. Rob g the spread now
they were what was it last week?

Speaker 3 (32:39):
Twenty twenty one last week.

Speaker 5 (32:41):
I believe twenty one and a half.

Speaker 4 (32:43):
I was twenty one on that and a half on
the road at Odson, where it has had won twenty
six of twenty seven games.

Speaker 5 (32:49):
Right, so let me guess I haven't seen it.

Speaker 6 (32:53):
So they're at home this time and uh still without
one of their best players, right in Hunter, that is correct.
I'm gonna say that there are twenty point underdogs against USC. Chris,
take a number, Take a guess quick.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
I'm gonna say twenty four point underdogs.

Speaker 4 (33:12):
You're both incorrect, but not too far off. According to
Lamar Mitchell and our friends at bet MGM, the USC
Trojans are twenty one and a half point road favorite.

Speaker 9 (33:22):
Wow.

Speaker 6 (33:23):
Now now that's a lot. Oh you're talking about road right,
because remember Oregon was at home.

Speaker 3 (33:31):
What'd you say, Rob twenty one?

Speaker 6 (33:32):
I said no, I said twenty, so I was I
said twenty is twenty one and a half, Rob.

Speaker 5 (33:38):
G that is correct, and Chris said twenty four. But
I'm saying, yeah, Colorado at home.

Speaker 6 (33:46):
I mean, like you want to say to yourself, I'm
taking twenty one.

Speaker 5 (33:49):
And a half points for the home team. But I
don't know.

Speaker 6 (33:52):
Chris, I have no idea it could be a repeat.
I know USC's winning the game, Chris, that is without
doubts me. I don't know how big it is. It
gonna be ugly like we just saw. Have they've been
exposed there. Some suggest is that it would be ugly.

Speaker 5 (34:08):
Yeah, probably, you might be right. It might be the
same medicine.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
Oregon is number nine right now, USC number eight. Uh
USC oddly dropped three spots.

Speaker 5 (34:22):
But here's the thing I couldn't the Arizona State isn't
that great.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
But here here's the thing.

Speaker 1 (34:31):
I think, coming off a bad performance, even though they
beat Arizona State dropping three spots USC, I know their
defense is suspect, but they got designs ribble making the playoffs,
so they filled three spots. I don't think that's gonna

(34:51):
help Colorado, you know what I mean, Like they're gonna
come into USC is now they already We're gonna have
their antennas up because you're Colorado, You're getting all the publicity,
You've got Dion Sanders as your head coach. FS one
is going to be there. ESPN I think was there
last week for the big game against UH, Oregon or

(35:15):
Colorado State the week before FS one is gonna be
there this week like USC as great as they've been,
and even though they've got the best player in the
country in the quarterback Caleb Williams, they are going to
be looking at this like, one, we're gonna have more
eyeballs on us than any game this season and unless.

Speaker 5 (35:36):
We get to doing though.

Speaker 3 (35:40):
That right, right.

Speaker 1 (35:42):
But but two, we gotta impress the voters because they've
dropped us three spots, so we got to move up,
you know.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
So they gonna go out there, and that's the problem.

Speaker 1 (35:55):
Ron Colorado is getting everybody's best shot, even though they're not,
you know, even at this point even ranked in the
top twenty five.

Speaker 6 (36:03):
Yeah, but that but that's what happens when you do
stuff that people aren't expected and then you stick your
chest out and all that other stuff. And I'm not
mad at them, right, but that's what happens, you know
what I mean. Like people we talk about all the time,
the teams that really last year, the Jets and Giants,
nobody thought they were good. They snuck up on people, right,

(36:23):
and then when the Jets went and got Aaron Rodgers,
people were ready for the Jets, right, Okay, now they
don't have them, but they were ready. They're not going
to be like yeah yeah, so so in Colorado and
they beat TCU to open the season. I don't think
anybody could that TCU was in the championship game. They're
gonna ignore that, I don't think so.

Speaker 1 (36:43):
Right right, Colorado's still in the others receiving votes category.
So if you if you go by the votes, they
would be twenty six, twenty seven eight, twenty ninth in
the country and.

Speaker 3 (36:57):
TCU rob thirty second.

Speaker 9 (37:01):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (37:03):
But I you know, so what do you expect? I'm expecting.
I hope it's not the case. I hope it's a
good game, whether Colorado wins or not. I mean, I
don't think they're gonna win, but I just like to
see a competitive game.

Speaker 5 (37:16):
Good luck.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
But I think it'll probably be a blowout where you
at on.

Speaker 5 (37:19):
It, Yeah, I'm thinking of a blowout.

Speaker 6 (37:22):
Just I think Calep is so good Chris, he doesn't
even play the full games.

Speaker 5 (37:27):
They take him out, and I think that'll be the
case here.

Speaker 6 (37:31):
They'll just win by They'll win by at least the
three or four touchdowns.

Speaker 5 (37:34):
So I say they win by twenty eight.

Speaker 1 (37:37):
Yeah, it's gonna be exciting, and I'm sure there'll be
tons of viewers, that's for darn sure. All Right, it's
the odd couple, Chris and Rob signing off, but keep
it locked right here on Fox Sports Radio because Jason
Smith and Mike Harmon are next.

Speaker 3 (37:53):
You know what that means, fire,
