Coming up in about twenty eight minutes, Henry McKenna, Fox
Sports NFL.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
Reporter and columnists. He'll join us on the show.

Speaker 5 (01:04):
We got last call coming up in case you haven't
been able to get in at some point, and man,
let's cut you. Updated is ten nothing in the football game,
ten nothing the Chiefs over the Saints and Derek Carr
first quarter just awful, right.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
He's starting to come back.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
I think it was like thirty thirty yards or something,
three and out each of the last couple of drives,
as Steve just said moments ago, an interception.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Just not looking right.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
And remember, you know, the first little bit of the season,
We're like, man, the Saints are world beaters, the Saints
and Saints and Saints, and it's just not looking the
same right now. But I will say, as I mentioned
one hundred times, man, the Kansas City Chiefs defense is
what is It's not that the only reason they're winning,
but it's a great additive in addition to what they're

(01:54):
able to do. Right meeting when when Patrick Mahomes and
Travis Kelse are vibing, that's how to stop when Pachinko
was there.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Obviously he's out, he's injured right now.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
But like they were, what they we you know, we
see what they do offensively, their defense for the last
season and a half has been carrying them. And that's
what's scary to me is because if Patrick Mahomes doesn't
have to be what he had been five thousand yards,
forty fifty touchdowns and still win, that is scary. I'm
not gonna lie this is why they're four and oh
looking like they're on their way to being five and
zer right now and still currently the raigning champs, and

(02:24):
just a reminder of hey, we're multifaceted team and ain't
just Patrick Mahomes. Our defense already got an interception almost
a pick six. This is also what we do.

Speaker 5 (02:34):
Yeah, I mean, there's a long way to go. They
got some things to work out, and they they.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Got a lot of injuries, and Travis Kelse is been
looking good because you know who is in the building,
and shout out to ESPN. They haven't overly shown her
thus far.

Speaker 5 (02:48):
Also in the baseball games, Kansas City both teams, Kansas
City teams playing the Royals up for to one NFL.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
Yeah, big big four runs in that inning for to one.

Speaker 5 (03:00):
In the bottom of the fourth, Yankees have a man
on and two outs.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Still a lot of baseball, a lot of baseball.

Speaker 5 (03:06):
Ye, blooping the blast and you're right back in the game.
All right, Uh, let's talk.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Some day in New York. Yes with the Jets.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Man, this has been just a horrible soap proper, if
you will, starting from the injuries, starting from the I
don't you know, I'm missing out on things, and I
got the deep dark you know, retreats Aaron Rodgers and
all of that. It's like there's been so much other
things going on other than good quality football from the Jets.

(03:35):
We've got Hug Gates where you know he doesn't hug
sail out or great catch and and and everybody's making
a thing of it. We've got Gary Wilson coming out
speaking out about the offense, which looks still on their
offense is historically bad right now. And it just goes
back to the conversation I had. They put everything in
the Aaron Rodgers basket. They put everything in a MVP former,

(04:00):
multiple time MVP savior of Aaron Rodgers, and they just said, here,
do what you will have the players you want, bring
old Packers players in, bring your old offensive coordinator in,
whatever you want.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
And I get it.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Teams have done it before, Teams will do it again.
But when you do that, it better worked. And it
hasn't worked. Their offense is trash. Uh. Gary Wilson again,
their best receiver saying, yo, offense, I'm running lesser rous
than I had the last couple of seasons. Aaron's back,
We're hearing about offensive. They can't run the bus. So

(04:34):
that's the part that shot off with them. Right now,
there's still plenty of football left to be had. Maybe
they make a deal, maybe Devontae Adams comes in and
things change a bit. But it has been disappointing that
the keys to the franchise were given to Aaron Rodgers
and uh, he's done nothing with it thus far. Touchdown
for the Saints, long sixty yard bomb, the shaheed from

(04:54):
Derek Carr dere he's looking at the camera right now.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
He said, I told you, I told you.

Speaker 5 (04:59):
Three your touchdown. So they're back in that game. Yeah.
Obviously they lost that game where they couldn't get the
end zone against Denver and the kicker missed the kick right,
had the distance, he just shanked it. He missed it.
They should have won that game. They didn't win that game.
And now you couple that with the loss to Minnesota.
Now they're two and three, where at least should be

(05:20):
three and two. I mean, but it's how they look too,
you know you know what I mean. Well, but that's
what I was telling you about other teams too. On
how you look. It's not just winning or losing, because
it is about where you walk because sometimes the team
can lose and you can still say I see something there,
they just haven't been able to finish it or whatnot.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
And then you have other.

Speaker 5 (05:39):
Teams where you're where they they're playing, they're winning or
looking better, but you still look and go, oh, yes,
something's off. But in this case, the only thing they
have going for him is that there's still twelve games ago.
It's a long way to go, and this is it.
Aaron Rodgers threw three picks. He threw the ball like

(05:59):
fifty ten. Think to put the ball up like that
trying to make something happen, you could have it. He
doesn't throw to turn the ball over. That's what's so
shocking too. That's that's been his strength, one of the strengths.
It was four touchdowns to every uner, so he had
the best touchdown interception racial in the history of football.
So it's surprising on where they are and what's going

(06:23):
on you know so far, but sure you.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Think a twisted Is he the escapegoat? Is he not?

Speaker 4 (06:31):
They're not to find anybody this year. They don't have
to let this thing play out.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Davante Adams is obviously something they're gunning towards and it
looks like that could happen.

Speaker 5 (06:39):
But they need to run the football too, and there's
other things that are going on. And if you can
get Davonte Adam, anytime you could add a talent like that,
you take advantage of it too.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
It's not like he's just a random receiver coming in.
He's been He was the number one guy for for
Aaron Rodgers for years.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
So there's some rapport there too, you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
It's like you're bringing him, it'd be like all of
a sudden, you know, now he's a little older. But
if Patrick Mahomes all of a sudden got Travis Kelsey,
you know, three years ago out of the boots, like,
oh we brought him back, he'd be like yeah, or
Tyreek Hill, they brought Tyreek Hill back, you know, Travis Keill.
Patrick mahonmes would love to have Tyreek Hill back. So yeah,
you you you want to see that. But I just
it's too much Aaron Rodgers dominating the offense bringing guys in, talking.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
About and I just look at where they were though
they had.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
An exact place they were with Zack Wilson.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
No, but the come on, no, but are they not
the exact same team, Yah Wilson.

Speaker 5 (07:36):
But I get that that's where they are. But that's disappointing.
That's Zach Wilson's best of where he was and what
I'm trying to tell you there's a difference. Aaron Rodgers
has a bigger ceiling. Zach Wilson was never good. Do
you see what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
But I'm saying I brought you into make but deadly
forget about Zach Wilson.

Speaker 5 (07:53):
Yeah, but that doesn't mean that that he's gonna be
Aaron rod gonna be this bad all year.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
Zach Wilson you couldn't get but so far true, that's
with him.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
I that Hey, we got some we got some sound
from what the Jets have been going.

Speaker 6 (08:06):
Through Dales blowing my standard. I just found out I've
never thrown two picks in the first quarter before, So
that's the first. One of us costs obviously seven and
the other you know, could have cost three. So in
a game where you lose by six, you know, plays
like that are exponentially highlighted. So three turnouts for me
is definitely out of character. And I'm disappointed.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
He's right, you mentioned it. That's one of the great
things about him, he's not been a turnover machine.

Speaker 5 (08:30):
He's not a turnover machine in his career. But still
you can't the three the three picks. It's just it
costs you. And again they didn't get run out of
the building. They lost by six.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
You got to credit their defense, which has been pretty
good to really good throughout the season, keeping them in games,
keep giving them a chance. I mean, they've had some
ten games where they off their offense look terrible, yet
they've found themselves right in the game or even have
one a couple where it's like, how do we win that?
So credit to Rob Sala and his defense for keeping
them in there. But I'm hanging on to a lot

(09:02):
of football left. I'm hanging on to at DeVante Adams
type move before I completely write them off. And also,
they're in a division that they've got a shot. Hills
are better, but the Bills are three and two and
two and they're two and three.

Speaker 4 (09:21):
Yeah, I mean they're not out.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
Of so being in that division, you got a shot.

Speaker 5 (09:26):
And Miami's hurt, like Miamami the team New Wingland's no good.
They could And then this is what I'm trying to say,
is as bad as it looks now that one game
out of winning the division like that.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
Right, and that's the and if they you know, if
the defense keeps playing like this, you get at DeVante
Adams now we're talking.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Now you're cooking.

Speaker 5 (09:42):
And Rodgers plays way just better, not not hall of fame,
not hall of fame.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
Not uh just better. If he plays better, they have
a shot.

Speaker 5 (09:53):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (09:54):
I didn't have the high hopes for the Jets because
it's just a team that I followed for a long time.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
A lot of people had them in the Super.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
Yeah, I wasn't there. But I think they're gonna be better.

Speaker 5 (10:03):
I think they have a shot at the division, especially
because I'm not buying in the Buffalo and No. Two
in Miami without those things going.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
They're still the possibility. Yeah, there's the possibility from the
get right.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
And I think we've saw, you know, flashes a couple
of times from Aaron Rodgers. But some I think my
biggest issue, Rob is something isn't there camaraderie kumbai Ya
in the building more so than just simply the gameplay. Gameplay,
something seems off, Like every we were having all these
false starts and they've been you know, the cadence has

(10:34):
been fine every other place and all the other season's
like something's off. You got Rob Sailor every other minute
he's having to you know, put down put out a
fire here, put out a fire there, put out a
fire here.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
And so something seems to be off to me.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
Uh And until they fix that, I don't know that
we'll see them at their peak ability.

Speaker 4 (10:52):
Yeah, but they're right there, I mean, and.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
That's the good thing for they are right there.

Speaker 5 (10:56):
They are. The Bills got off, they looked like they
were world beaters, and now they've come down to earth.
So the Bills aren't the team that maybe we thought
they were. You know, like when they beat Jacksonville, they
look like a machine and.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
Then when we know that Jacksonville, but still and they
had won a game or two prior to that and
looking all right. So yeah, if you're the Jets, that's
the that's the that's the mark.

Speaker 7 (11:18):
You know.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
If we can beat the Bills, if we can get
in this postseason, even if we crawl in ten and
seven or something, hey we got a shot.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
You never know.

Speaker 5 (11:26):
Yeah, and they're going to be a work in progress. Obviously,
run he he won there, right they had to run
the ball.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
I don't know they were running the ball well or
first couple of games.

Speaker 5 (11:35):
Yeah, but it's it's dried up, and I think you
have to You can't be one dimensional with a forty
year old quarterback.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
That's not fair to them and also to your defense.
Keep putting us in, you know, if you have three
quick outs or he turned the ball over and now
we're right back out on the field, and that can
get tiring as well.

Speaker 4 (11:49):
No. Eight seven seven.

Speaker 5 (11:52):
Ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six
sixty three sixty nine.

Speaker 4 (11:58):
It is the.

Speaker 5 (11:59):
Telephone and on the Jets already regretting the Aaron Rodgers move.
Or is it too early to really consider that or not?

Speaker 1 (13:53):
Uh, Rob and I are having about the Jets and
whose fault is it?

Speaker 9 (13:57):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (13:57):
Do you believe they need to make some changes? Or
are They'll be fine? Just give it more time? What
do you got?

Speaker 5 (14:02):
All right, let's kick it off. Andre in Massachusetts. You're
on the odd couple of Fox Sports. Ready, what's up?

Speaker 2 (14:08):
Dright?

Speaker 10 (14:10):
Yeah, how you doing? Thanks for taking the call. Listen
when it comes to the Jet bottom line is what
we learned, and remember the Titans. Attitude reflects leadership. That's right,
Attitude reflects leadership. And so no way know, how are
you thinking about removing your franchised quarterback when that's the
number one pause, that's that's the So you cannot win
in the NFL without a quarterback and the Jets were

(14:31):
without the quarterback for timing memorial. So Aaron Rodgers is
going nowhere. This is about Robert Salad. It is your
job to find a way to get through to an
individual who is a contrarian without a cause. Aaron Rodgers
has always been the Riddler. He's always been a mystery man.
That's who he cloaks himself in all of this ridiculousness. Frankly,
you know, and you know, just the devon mentality, but

(14:54):
it comes. The coach has to find a way to
get the best out of him. That's what Matt Laford
did when he came to Ain't Bay to get Aaron
Rodgers and then the NFC Championship game. So bottom line, no,
your quarterback days, Robert solid wh I believe in and
Truck I'm backing you, But you got to find a
way to get through the Rogers and get the ship
rolled in the right direction.

Speaker 5 (15:14):
Yeah, and Dre, they're not out of the division. The
Buffalo three in two, the two and three, Like you
can't panic. You're not zero and five and they're four
and one.

Speaker 4 (15:25):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (15:25):
You know, I just think you didn't expect so much
this function so so soon.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
Yeah, but it's nothing.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
That's the issue, is what It's.

Speaker 4 (15:34):
Too much time to turn it around.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
Yeah, and that's fair point. But it's also fair to
acknowledge what's happening right now.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
And I think that's a part of It's not like, uh,
you know, let's say, hey, like the Bills, at least
they're three and two. But there's no drama, right, there's
there's all right, they lost a couple of tough games.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
All Right, we'll get back at it. But there's like
constant drama.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
And I like what Dre said, a contrarian without a cause,
Like there's always something with with Aaron?

Speaker 2 (15:57):
Who is who we got next?

Speaker 5 (15:59):
David in Texas? You're on the eye couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, David?

Speaker 7 (16:03):
Hey, what's up? Man?

Speaker 9 (16:06):
I just wanted to say Aaron Rogers and that low
and that low interceptions race because he didn't make a
lot of risky rows.

Speaker 4 (16:14):
So so how did he win for m v P
s bye bye bye bye by check off for MVP?
Ain't I'm asking you? How did he? How did he win?
How do he win four m v P s?

Speaker 9 (16:25):
I said, he, I said, that's like, that's like a popularity.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
On David. I want you to get to you. I
want you to get to your point. But I'm not
gonna do that. Roger. He stops win you.

Speaker 9 (16:40):
Win super Bowl m v P. Now you can't want a.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
Super Bowl m v P.

Speaker 4 (16:45):
When they beat the Steelers, what what do you mean
what you just said?

Speaker 9 (16:50):
Wait, wait, wait we could talk.

Speaker 4 (16:52):
Wait a minute.

Speaker 9 (16:53):
You said, don't care about this.

Speaker 5 (16:55):
You said one Steph Curry. It didn't win one until
the last one he won a m v P. What
do you talking about, David? What's your what's the larger point?
Because I want to hear I think you're going somewhere,
but I completely don't. We're not gonna act like Rodgers
wasn't putting up crazy numbers falling out. The MVP is
regular season, so you gotta act. I get what your
overall point, but regular season he was balling out. Oh,

(17:16):
come on, like like, like, listen, if he had the
larger point of I wanted more from Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
I thought that he had more Super Bowl appearances.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
I'm with that argument, But we're not gonna act like
dude wasn't putting up forty touchdowns, four interceptions, forty five
hundred yards thirteen and three seasons balling out.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
We're not gonna do that.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
We're not gonna I understand the difference between postseason and
regular season, but a regular segon.

Speaker 4 (17:39):
But you can't discount it.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
As a Lions fan, I saw it.

Speaker 5 (17:43):
Yeah, you saw all the time, Raphael Cincinnati, you're on
the odd couple Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 9 (17:49):
What's up, bro? What's up?

Speaker 2 (17:51):
Yo?

Speaker 9 (17:51):
Ya hey, Robbie. Remember what was that before the season.
I think you and Chris Brew, you know, we were
talking about the Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 7 (17:59):
What you're gonna do?

Speaker 9 (18:00):
What I called it and said about Aaron Ella. I
told you he's gonna have the worst statistical season. He's
too old. He's done, but his ego won't allow him
to admit it. Coach Sala knows that he's done, and
those players know that he's done. The arm is good
for forty year old, but he's done. He's not going
to be able to deliver the goods. And before he

(18:21):
tore his achilles, he was already I saw some of
his skills starting to decline. He can't make all the
throws like he used to. Is he going to have
like one game like, oh man, he's turning back the clock. Sure,
but by mid season, I'm gonna keep my prediction up
there in New York, the boot Birds are gonna come out.

Speaker 5 (18:38):
So you're saying, what what what? They're not going to
make the playoffs are going to be Uh that dude, Not.

Speaker 9 (18:45):
With that dude, because their defense isn't the same right
now as last year. Is a defense gonna get better
by you know, we can we twelve probably, but I
don't know. They need to.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
Run the ball.

Speaker 5 (18:55):
I the only thing is there only they're only one
game out from the Division League.

Speaker 4 (18:59):
I just can't. I can't look at it right.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
That's horrible. That is no, because they am not in
a do or die game like we had. Because they
can't run the ball, is what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
We gotta figure some now. I can't. We have a
year old.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
No, that's play calling fifty four. But that play calling
relates to him, though, Nick, that's ridiculous. Hackings giving him
the permission to do and rightfully so he's earned it.
He's Aaron Rodgers, just like Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, these
Drew Brees. These guys can make these decisions.

Speaker 8 (19:29):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
But yeah, at some point you gotta figure it out.
Because we were all screaming their praises. But all they
might have two backs, two backs first week, couple of weeks.
That's not the case right now.

Speaker 6 (19:37):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
There's a whole lot happening in sports right now. You
got the Kansas City Chiefs also the Kansas City Royals.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app Our.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
Guests now Henry McKinnon, Fox Sports, NFL reporter and columnists.
You can follow at Henry Receive McKenna on Twitter. Henry,
thank you for joining us.

Speaker 2 (20:03):
What's up? He heard the conversation there about the Chiefs
we're having.

Speaker 8 (20:08):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
Rob likes to say this, you know, he's not he's
not big on the Chiefs.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
I am something isn't right, but I give more credit
to the defensive side, saying that's what's carrying the day,
which is perfectly fine because there's three sides to three
parts to a team.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
But the offense isn't clicking.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
What have you seen four games through this season and
even some of last season, Uh, even a little bit
of the playoff run as well.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
What's what seems to be different?

Speaker 11 (20:33):
Yeah, you know what's scary is that, like this team
isn't clicking, and they're and they're you know, on the
on track.

Speaker 7 (20:40):
To be five and oh tonight, right, so we keep
it and It's like I.

Speaker 11 (20:45):
Think Kelvin has the kid with you who is saying,
you know, it's so they there's a hashtag in Kansas
City only weird games, where like the Chiefs really only
play close games, they only make it weird.

Speaker 7 (20:57):
It's always a nail bier.

Speaker 11 (21:00):
And like that's because they can afford to do that.
Because guess who's like the best fourth down quarterbacks you
know in recent memory. Obviously, you know, rivaling only Tom
Brady is Patrick Mahomes, right, Like, you know, so obviously
the defense is really good at situational football. They're excellent

(21:21):
at keeping the game within an arms reach.

Speaker 7 (21:24):
For Patrick Mahomes, who.

Speaker 11 (21:26):
Regardless of who his number one round receiver is, you know,
he figures out how to you know, convert fourth downs,
convert third downs, play truly clutch situational football, and he
just like wills his teams to victory. I say it
all the time. But like you know, for people who
watch the matrix, you know, back in the nineties, like

(21:49):
Patrick Mahomes is like neo, right, Like he just manipulates
the world around him. He just like makes things happen
to a lot of people are conspiracy theorists, and they think, oh,
the referees are you know, games and the chief savors
like no, this kind of just like taking control of
the game in a way that we really don't see
very often in a in a team sport like football.

Speaker 5 (22:11):
Let's go to Cleveland and Deshaure Watson. Uh why, I know,
what's a money thing or whatever, but I would I
would have to move on from him. It looks pretty
obvious that he's not going to regain the form that
he once had.

Speaker 4 (22:28):
He just doesn't look good to me.

Speaker 7 (22:31):
No, there's there's really no way to argue it.

Speaker 11 (22:33):
Right, Like if he were any other guy on any
other contract, he'd be benched by now. He might even
be cut by now. He's by far the worst quarterback
in the NFL, and so we've seen guys like Gardner
Minshew and other quarterbacks get benched by now. Like the

(22:54):
guys that are getting benched. I ride a quarterback stock
market every week. It monitors, you know. He's very sort
of like focused on what happened this week, not just
like who's the greatest quarterback? Like Patrick Mahomes with I
think twelve for the last two weeks, so it really
focused on how well is the guy playing right now, right,
and Deshaun Watson is very much thirty two.

Speaker 4 (23:17):
I mean, it's it's mind boggling.

Speaker 5 (23:21):
Hen we really I cannot get over like I don't
see a glimpse of what he used to be. I
don't know if it's the two years off or almost
two years off, or you know, he's not that just
doesn't feel good about himself about what he's been through,
or if it's mental. But man, if I'm the Browns,
I'd have to really consider doing something because I don't
know how fair it is to the rest of the team.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
I mean, you also add on the fact we talked
about with earlier guess that he walks off on the team.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
You know, having is just walks off on the team
early too. None of this bowls well for him.

Speaker 1 (23:52):
Rejoined right now by Henry mckenneth, Fox Sports NFL reporter
and columnists joining the show. I look at the LANSCA
right now. We spend a lot of time talking about
the UH the AFC, whether it be the Ravens.

Speaker 2 (24:04):
We talked about the Chiefs.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
We know what's going on with the Bills, even the
Bengals to an extent, I go to the other side,
the NFC. Big win for the Cowboys. They needed that
to get back on track, for them to keep themselves
in this thing. You got the forty nine ers who
keep finding ways to lose games that they should win.
Name is Kyle Shanahanyle Shanahan. Why can't he close games?
And why does he stop running the football at the

(24:26):
end of games?

Speaker 7 (24:28):
Yeah, for a guy.

Speaker 11 (24:29):
For a guy who's like, you know, somehow made himself
famous for taking running backs and making them, you know,
something out of nothing, he's also become infamous for abandoning
those guys, you know, in the moments when it counts
most obviously. You know a reference to that the Super
Bowl where you know, the Patriots came back against the

(24:51):
Falcons in that game.

Speaker 5 (24:52):
That was on that game, that game, Henry is inconceivable.
Julio Jones makes a great catch on third down, first
and ten at the twenty two. You're in field goal range,
run the ball three times, play clock down right to
the final second. You kick a field goal, you're up
by eleven, you win the Super Bowl.

Speaker 11 (25:13):
Yeah, and it's like contagious, Like think about Mike McDaniels.
Mike McDaniels, you know, the Dolphins coach. He was the
run game coordinator for the San Francisco forty nine ers,
and he goes to the Dolphins and he can't. He's
doing the same thing. He can manufacture a running back
out of nowhere, but he gets into situations where he

(25:34):
just needs to run the football and he can win games,
and he just can't help himself.

Speaker 7 (25:40):
He's got to go to the past.

Speaker 11 (25:42):
So it's something about that Shanning and coaching tree. But look,
I think, you know, we're kind of talking him down
right now, but that's because we are allowed to in
week five or.

Speaker 7 (25:53):
You know, we're right on the elbow of week six, and.

Speaker 11 (25:57):
You know, the truth is they're probably gonna end up
being the best team in the A or the NFC, because, like,
it's fun to root for the Vikings, but I'm a
little worried about Sam Darnold starting to look like the Sam.

Speaker 7 (26:09):
Donald we know. Uh.

Speaker 11 (26:11):
And then the Commanders are kind of like a little iffy,
just because I love Jayden Daniels, but he is a rookie.
And then the Detroit Lions, like, you know what happened
to the team that used to bite the kneecaps off
of guys?

Speaker 7 (26:25):
Right, Like.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
Henry, they're three and one. What what do you mean
by that?

Speaker 1 (26:29):
Now? You know, no bias, Yes I am from the area,
but I'm just saying, Henry, they're three and one.

Speaker 2 (26:34):
They look good.

Speaker 1 (26:35):
The offense is still is not quite as explosive defense
has been made.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
What's wrong with the wat kad? The Lions be the
best team in the NFC.

Speaker 7 (26:41):
Talk to me, oh man, I, like.

Speaker 11 (26:44):
I said, I think I think there is something too there.
Like it's almost intangible.

Speaker 7 (26:49):
Which is kind of my easy way out to answer this, but.

Speaker 11 (26:52):
It's real, Like I genuinely think, Like remember year one when,
like you know, this Dan Camp team like genuinely wanted to.

Speaker 7 (27:01):
Quite literally fights like he was. He made headline for
saying that his teams were going to bite the kneecaps
off of his players.

Speaker 11 (27:08):
But that's fightstiness. That's sort of like strange like level
of wanting to play for him. We all laughed at
at the beginning, but in year one it was real.

Speaker 7 (27:17):
Year two it was real.

Speaker 11 (27:19):
But I think they've had some letdowns. There is a
bit of a hangover for this team and that level
of physicality that for example, we see in the Ravens,
like that team.

Speaker 7 (27:30):
Plays fully ball, like they.

Speaker 11 (27:33):
Beat you up their defense leaves bruises and break bones.

Speaker 7 (27:37):
I don't really see that with.

Speaker 11 (27:38):
The Detroit line, and they used to do that on
the offensive line. They used to do that on their
front seven on defense. Not only is that a problem,
like sort of that intellgible, like how hard do you hit?

Speaker 7 (27:49):
But I think the other thing is Derek Goff just
like he has a.

Speaker 11 (27:52):
Lot of like two hundred yards, no touchdown, one interception
like type games. I know like that exactly know we
haven't we only can't play four games, but it just feels.

Speaker 9 (28:02):
Like, you know, he's he.

Speaker 7 (28:05):
We all know that he was sort of a system.

Speaker 11 (28:08):
Quarterback, like he's been elevated by that that run game
that they have there, and and he doesn't quite look
as confident until you we as we've seen in.

Speaker 1 (28:19):
The past, the disrespect that man just went eighteen for
eighteen and caught a touchdown pass.

Speaker 2 (28:23):
And this is how you're right of Henry.

Speaker 7 (28:25):
I know, sorry, I actually wrote last week.

Speaker 11 (28:28):
I was like, that's the closest a quarterback has ever
gone to pitching a perfect game like in baseball. Like
I was kind of like in the third quarter, I
was like, can we talk about like the perfect game,
like you know, you're not allowed to talk about pitching
a perfect game in baseball until you know whatever inning, and.

Speaker 7 (28:42):
And I was like, can we talk about it yet?
Is it allowed?

Speaker 8 (28:45):
Like?

Speaker 7 (28:45):
Am I going to drink it?

Speaker 11 (28:46):
And I almost did because he got that safety. But yeah,
he did put together a pretty good game in.

Speaker 4 (28:51):
A game all right?

Speaker 5 (28:53):
One more last, well quickly, uh Antonio Pierce. I mean,
my goodness, the wheels are coming off. And then terrible
performance this past week against Denver. Yeah, and it's just
a lot of nonsense and stuff going on there. What
do you make of Antonio Pierce? Is he has he
already crossed the line with the players.

Speaker 11 (29:12):
Yeah, I hope, I hope he gets another year.

Speaker 7 (29:15):
It's tough. It's stuff when you don't give a coach
a quarterback. I mean, like, look at what Gerrod Mayo
is dealing with right now.

Speaker 11 (29:23):
He has Drake may sitting on the bench and he's
not really allowed to use him from what it seems like.
And so I think there's a similar thing happening. But
it's even worse in the Raiders because like, at least
the Patriots have this sort of like like Joker in
their hands. But for the Raiders, it's tough because they

(29:43):
just have two guys that we all know are never
going to win a playoff game. Neither of them have
ever been to a playff game. Gardner Minshew and Aiden
O'Connell have never started in playoff games, nor probably will
they if we're being honest with ourselves. So you put
two guys like that in a roster and expect a
team to make the playoff, that's just not going to happen. So,

(30:05):
but they're gonna end up picking up the top of
the draft. I really hope that they give, you know,
Antonio Piers another year. Maybe it's with Sugar Sanders, it's
maybe it's with Quinn Yours. Maybe it's with Carson Beck.
Not sure you know which which quarterback will fall into
place for them, but they got to take a quarterback.

Speaker 7 (30:23):
They got to really think about setting that guy up.

Speaker 11 (30:26):
And sadly, you know, we're talking about DeVante Adams getting
traded within the next thirty six hours.

Speaker 7 (30:33):
Doubt one piece sort of.

Speaker 11 (30:36):
Immediately falling out of place for both Pierson whoever is going.

Speaker 7 (30:40):
To be his quarterback. But I don't know.

Speaker 11 (30:42):
I really like Piers and I would be disappointed to
see Vegas move on from him after not setting him
up for success.

Speaker 7 (30:50):
You know what I mean, Like, what did you expect
him to do with this roster?

Speaker 4 (30:53):
That's crazy?

Speaker 2 (30:55):
Thank you man, We appreciate you joining us.

Speaker 7 (30:57):
Yeah, it'd be good.

Speaker 9 (30:58):
Thank yep.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
All right, Hey, even at one win on the season,
it ain't over for one team.

Speaker 4 (33:00):
All right?

Speaker 5 (33:01):
Aaron and Los Angeles. You're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. Last call time? What's happened to Aaron?

Speaker 8 (33:07):
Hey, guys, thank you for saking my call. That are
so I'm calling to comment on Deshaun Watson. Now, I
grew up in Cleveland, lifelong born and raised, and I
grew up I came up in the eighties in the
Costar era, so I remember the quote unquote glory days
of that club. And basically ever since they came back

(33:28):
in ninety nine, I've been disappointed year after year after
year with their quarterbacks. But last year I had faith
with Joe Flacco. He actually did something that the organization
has only done once with Baker Mayfield since they came
back into the organization, which was get to the playoffs. Now,
I think that with their contract issue, they should just

(33:49):
bench Watson and try Jamis, because Watson should not get
a pass and get off the hook and be allowed
to go sit at his home and just collect one
hundred and ninety million without doing nothing.

Speaker 9 (34:01):
Bottom they paid for him.

Speaker 8 (34:03):
They should make him play out his contract on the bench.
Make that guy come to every practice, go to every
single game, and ride that bench until they have no choice.
But they have to put him in for injuries or
some other reason. But I don't think he should get
a free pass and just be allowed to just make all.

Speaker 7 (34:19):
Of his money.

Speaker 2 (34:20):
That's an interesting point he made right there.

Speaker 5 (34:22):
I Mean sometimes I hear that, but sometimes you don't
want if he's going to be a mouth content or
you just don't want him around, and then you know
it's a distraction because he's still then the reporter's got
to keep going to him.

Speaker 1 (34:34):
Jamis has three big bad games in the rows and
you go back to watch exactly do.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
You see what I'm saying? Im?

Speaker 4 (34:39):
At some point you got to get rid of people
and just moved him out.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
You're gonna cut cut it.

Speaker 4 (34:43):
You're not going to play again, ever, play again. What's
the sense of having him come in.

Speaker 1 (34:47):
Yeah, it's just an unfortunate situation, like I said, And
I just I keep going back to as well.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
Looking at all of the drama.

Speaker 1 (34:57):
Then there's continued drama, right, I just got I saw
today they opened up a ditty hot line in over twelve.
They were deceived like twelve hundred calls on the Ditty
hot line in twenty four hours. And the relevance is
I'm saying with Deshaun, and I'm not saying it's apples apples,
but I'm just saying like, there keeps being things right,
and that's going to reflect on an organization too if

(35:20):
some more damning news comes out, more information. So at
some point you just wonder if another week or two,
if they don't write this ship And as roder Woodson
said earlier.

Speaker 2 (35:30):
Walking off on the team.

Speaker 1 (35:32):
Like dude, we're all out here trying and fighting just
like you, and then walking off on the team early
and getting it kind of ignoring the coach like you know.

Speaker 4 (35:39):
You wanted to play and he just walked off like no,
we're done.

Speaker 2 (35:44):
Yeah. So it's just one of those it's a bad situation.

Speaker 1 (35:46):
For that last thing I was just gonna say is,
by the way, we're talking about the Bengals at one
and four, are they not the only team I can
think of in my life that's one and four that
if I looked at my schedule, I would not want
to play.

Speaker 2 (35:56):
I'd be like, oh, shoot, we got the Bengals, but
they're wanting four, I.

Speaker 5 (36:00):
Know, and have you Actually they have a great quarterback
who uh the defense hasn't worked for them, but obviously
when Joe Burrows in Bobb you always got a chance.

Speaker 1 (36:09):
I mean, Jamar Chase went crazy almost a couple hundred
yards a couple.

Speaker 4 (36:13):
I just don't I just don't know if their defense
is gonna be good enough.

Speaker 2 (36:15):
It's not to shoot, my defense might not be good
enough that we can either have stopped them, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 5 (36:20):
And the other problem is the division that they're renting,
you know, like that's the other part part for them.

Speaker 2 (36:25):
And you got the Steelers. Yeah, it's all you know
what I mean.

Speaker 1 (36:28):
Yeah, it's tough, which is why it would be very
difficult for them to make a postseason.

Speaker 5 (36:33):
Why tomorrow, man, we already get it. We're done trash
talking Tuesdays coming up tomorrow already. I won't be able
to talk about a lot of stuff, obviously, this Monday
night football game where the Chiefs could be five and
oh so much to do, no doubt about it. Another way,
so much radio, No we can't talk about it, No,
not at all.
