Alex will be here.

Speaker 5 (01:51):
Alex, you're here Thanksgiving making white. They make him work

Speaker 4 (01:56):
Unbelievable. How did you show you're not black because you're

Speaker 4 (02:13):
Okay, So, so Martin will be here twice on Thursday
on Thanksgiving with me instead of Kelvin. You'll be here Friday.
Me and Alex will be here the whole time. And
rob G of course is off and I don't know, Saga,
you're going to be here next week or you're off
for the holiday, right off for the home.

Speaker 6 (02:30):
He said, no, he ain't coming here, saying I want
to thank you on half of all of us here
on Thanksgiving for you catering for us. Thank you?

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Is that right? Does that happen?

Speaker 6 (02:38):
I can't thank you enough?

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Okay, thank you.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
Put him on the spot, Alex, all right, we'll have something,
some sweet potato pie, saying you bud every.

Speaker 7 (02:46):
One cheesecake across the streets. That's what they're saying, he said.
The streets are buzzing right now about you. You want
don't you want? Sweet potato pie?

Speaker 2 (02:55):
So good?

Speaker 7 (02:56):
That's not what I heard. I heard that you're getting
full on three course meal. All right, all right, I
ain't even gonna be here, so I'm my benefit from him.
I'm just saying that's what I heard.

Speaker 6 (03:05):
Thank you, Rob.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Okay, here we go. You're the best. Rob.

Speaker 5 (03:08):
I don't care what they say about They say you
downsize your apartment so that you could pay for this
meal here.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Next they say, I'm struggling. Now, I'm struggling, struggle. I'm
gonna struggle.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
Oh man, that's Okay, that's all right, I'll put that
extra money in the bank whatever.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Living outside your means ex all right, rob guh.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
Yesterday was a national game featuring the Spurs.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
And somebody didn't play. How about that? Robbed you?

Speaker 5 (03:36):
It's unfortunate, but yes, Victor Wembanyama Wimby.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Wait a minute? What oh it deleted that? Do not
do it?

Speaker 7 (03:46):
Gone?

Speaker 8 (03:47):
What?

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Everyone knows where catering?

Speaker 6 (03:54):
I forgot? I got you?

Speaker 9 (03:55):
Everyone knows twim look at a prop.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
To.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Everyone knows a swim.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
There's not a better tune going on other than the
other song we us hushes out.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
So don't get it, ye, don't get it tousted out
too ahead of yourself.

Speaker 5 (04:16):
There, No, but yeah, Womby did not play big national
TV game unfortunately, and even worse. Reports are that he's
gonna be gone for a hot minute because he's not
even gonna be reevaluated.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
About this CAF strain.

Speaker 7 (04:28):
For two to three weeks, which you means realistically, he
ain't playing for three to four at a minimum. So
if you're watching the Spurs game and you're looking for
that seven foot five alien running them down the court,
you might want to change the channel.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
See see here's he's an unbelievable talent.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
We all know that.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
No one.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
I'm not sitting here trying to pooh Pool Wimby. I
made a song for him. Yeah, okay, because I know
everybody knows it's Wimby next thing. But this is where
when people talk about him possibly being all time greatest
effort and all that, This is why I think it's
gonna be.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Very difficult for him, because.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
Guys his size have health issues, yes, right, like they've
all had it. He's already had blood cloths, Yep. He's
gonna have like it's always something. Yeah, it seems like
there's always something. And you know he's rail thin yep.

(05:28):
And guys that size usually have ankle and foot and
leg issues as well. And that's the disappointing thing that
that do I really think he's gonna have an eighteen
year career and be the all time leading scorer and
all that.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
I wish I could sit there and tell you that
I don't think it's gonna happen.

Speaker 7 (05:47):
No, guys like that have a shelf life. They're called
unicorns for a reason. We don't see it, and we
don't see them on the court either, because the way
he moves, the things that he can do, and and
and the challenges he presents on the on the court,
that's a parent.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
We see it.

Speaker 7 (06:06):
We know how great it can be. We saw it
with Porzingis when he first got there seventy three. He
could move, he can held the ball. I may not
like Winby, but no, no, but I know what and
it hurt all the time. He was going to be
the next Yeah, he got called the goat by his peers.
We didn't give him that name. Kevin Durant gave him
that name. Right, Like he could do those things. Winby
can do those things plus plus ten.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
Right. The way he looks Porzingis is a good but
it's a thing.

Speaker 7 (06:31):
Right, But they're gonna give you bursts of brilliance and
that's all they can have because their body's just that
frame you just can't hold. You can't, you can't do
those things on that frame. And so that's the only
thing with Wemby man, you can't. You can't deny his talent.
But when he's just not going to be able to
stay healthy at at the rate he's doing these things
at that height, and that's eyes.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
Yeah, it's us. That's the problem, uh, rob G. And
I'm not saying Weimby's on par with Manew Bowl, but
Manew Bowl was another like of course, like I'm just saying.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Sides Minute didn't move like that. No, no, no, Wemby's a
different animal.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
But I'm just saying manew Baul was hurt a lot
and couldn't stay healthy, and I think that's the disappointing part,
like this guy's he's always Wenby twenty.

Speaker 5 (07:17):
Three, twenty one, twenty one, and manew Bawl was very
healthy for the first six seasons of his career. He was,
and so he was playing eighty eighty two, seventy.

Speaker 7 (07:26):
Six, he was right there, but Minut wasn't playing as
many minutes.

Speaker 5 (07:30):
And then but after year six, drops down to seventy
were like, oh that's sorry, it's not too bad. Yeah,
then it's fifty eight, then it's thirty, then it's five.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Then he's out of the NBA. Yeah, And that's the issue.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
I remember Manew Bowl playing against Miama Mata Southern Connecticut.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
He played it.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
He played at like Fairfield, some school in Connecticut, just
some random like what school of rob G is a Fairfield?
What school did he play it? In Connecticut, manut Fairfield.
I want to say, why am I? Why am I
not sure of that?

Speaker 2 (08:03):
In college?

Speaker 4 (08:04):
Yeah, Bridgeport, Bridgeport, Okay, in Connecticut, in Connecticut, and I
remember him playing commit division to Southern Connecticut. The gym
is packed out because obviously this freak of nature is
there and whatnot. And and I just remember like an
imbouse pass where he's basically you know, and they just
loved them all into him, and he just they couldn't

(08:26):
stop him. And he was he was one of those things,
you know, one of those.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Specialty players.

Speaker 4 (08:33):
You thought, with his height, who can stop him, He's
gonna have this kind of career.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
And injuries caught up with and.

Speaker 7 (08:40):
You think about minute and the way they played at
the time. I could see why he was healthy the
first six years the temple. The pace wasn't different like this,
And so that's that's that's a good point. Like the
tempo and the pace.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
And you're asking Winby to do all this other stuff,
dribble of basketball all that time. Yeah, like it can
have it's gone to have an impact. Yes, Yeah, there's
no way about it.

Speaker 7 (09:03):
Yeah, that means it sucks, man, because he's so good
and you're literally watching things he do on the he's
doing on the court this year in particular.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
I love the way he went back at Draymond the
other night exactly?

Speaker 3 (09:14):
Is that?

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Was that?

Speaker 3 (09:14):
Not?

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Yeah, he's not scared. No, he's dude. I'd be like, what, dude,
get out of my way. He don't even see Draymond right, No, yeah,
get out of my way.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
And Draymond trying to you know, trying to rough house
up of course, make make punk them, you know, Oh,
either twenty one, I don't care.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
I'll told you all. Whatever. The he jammed right on
Draymond's face.

Speaker 7 (09:34):
Yeah, it wouldn't been out there training with monks and
all kinds of stuff. Man, he is I'm scared of
what he knows. Anyway, he knows a lot. So I
wouldn't mess with that little kid. I know, the monk thing.
I was wondering about that.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
Yeah, he shaved his head too, he did. Yeah. Yeah,
he's twenty one. He'll grow back. Yeah, Oh yeah, I
mean he already has grown back. He already got the
hair back. No, he's good, he's good.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
I want to you know, on my trip to Australia,
there was a monk in our.

Speaker 7 (10:01):
You thought about going to sit with them. No, you want,
you want, you want to gave up the chicken so
you wouldn't have been there. I'm not doing that. But
but there was a monk on the trip and he
wound up dying. He was in a room next to me.
Died on the trip. A monk in the room. Yes,
I heard a thump. No, come on, I'll tell you

(10:22):
a true story. I heard a thumb in the middle
of the night and I'm like, what was that really?

Speaker 2 (10:28):
And he was the day earlier.

Speaker 4 (10:30):
He was like sweating profusely drinking, and I was like,
what is this guy doing?

Speaker 2 (10:35):
And went to the room.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
So we the next morning, you know, the tour bus
is ready to go. He's the only one who's not there.
So they you know, they don't wait the tour bus.
You gotta go, and they went. They said, well, you
guys go if we can get them up and get
him there, we'll drive him to the location and whatever.
And then the guy showed up from the hotel, like,
you know, the monk is uh is no longer with us.

(10:56):
And then we're like, he left the trip, did he
did he go home? And no, he died last he left,
all right? Left crazy. But that was my Monk's story.
Wemby's story is it would be a shame. It would
be great to see like the potential, and we love
what we see. I'm just not convinced we're going to

(11:19):
have that pleasure. And already, you know what we just said.
He's twenty one, and look at what he's been through already.

Speaker 5 (11:26):
He's already missed forty seven out of a possible one
sixty four.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
I mean, think about that entering this season. That's like
a third, isn't it? Would you say? One almost the
thirty almost the thirty right, almost almost a third?

Speaker 5 (11:38):
Yeah, and this season he was gangbusters twenty six, thirteen
and four. He should be averaging on fifty thirty five
eighty six splits while leading the league in blocks at
twenty one.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
That's crazy, No, Rob, he wouldn't be averaging Moore. He
got that.

Speaker 7 (11:54):
He got a lot of guys that can score on
that team, so that's about right for him.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
But it just seemed like it's almost impossible to stop him.

Speaker 4 (11:59):
It is, and if he didn't want to shoot threes, like,
how could you stop him?

Speaker 2 (12:04):
Yeah, I'm just saying, like people don't like that.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
I don't know why, Like I would just feed him
until they come up with a plan.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
But maybe they just you know what I mean, and
I get it. The other players want to play too.

Speaker 7 (12:15):
Well, you just said it, though, the usage rate for
him can't be that high, right, that's another reason.

Speaker 4 (12:20):
That's not because they would wear him down exactly, no doubt,
all right, eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight
seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. Will
Wimby's body allow him to fulfill his potential? We'll continue
that conversation next with you. Eight seven seven ninety nine

(12:41):
on Fox. But you know what I'm going to say, right,
that's not we already know say it. It's the odd
couple on Fox Sports Radio, Rob Parker, Kerry Rhoades, Stick
and Stay.

Speaker 6 (13:00):
I feel like somebody named Wemby in the US of A.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
Everyone knows it's whim.

Speaker 4 (15:06):
Don't forget to Sean Tate college basketball NBA analysts coming
up in about eight minutes or so. Do we have
a chance to have people chime in? We were talking
about Wimby reaching his full potential, but also there were
people called in earlier who wanted to get in on
the Shador Sandals is going to make his first start
in the NFL. I think the pressure is on Chador

(15:29):
to play well against a bad Raiders team. A bad
out and carry against the Raiders just wouldn't look good.
The people have made excuses and all that. I don't
know what excuse you can make if he has a
bad day at the office.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
Yeah, no, I agree with you on that. Take for
sure that part of it.

Speaker 7 (15:47):
Right, This is a prime opportunity for him to go
out and shign and actually, you know, prove some of
the haters on the opposite side of that spectrum as
well wrong and so that he can play this game,
so big opportunity. If he fails, it won't look good
for him, no doubt. Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
If you want to jump in, what do you expect

(16:09):
from Shador?

Speaker 4 (16:10):
Will he light up the Raiders and people go wow
because everybody else is lit him up? Or will do
you expect him to struggle or not be able to
do that?

Speaker 2 (16:22):
And how much will that count?

Speaker 4 (16:24):
Because when Dylan is healthy, I believe they're going to
put him back in.

Speaker 7 (16:30):
Man, you're probably right, But I've seen enough of Dylan
Gabriel to know he's not an NFL quarterback really. Yeah, Well,
he can be a backup, but I don't I don't
see him being a starter of past.

Speaker 4 (16:41):
I just to me, when you have somebody and they
drafted him, obviously, in the third round. Yeah, and they
moved up to get him, like like they had an
interest in him and obviously they'd scouting him. Yeah, so
they felt like this is the guy they want and
he's not. Then okay, you know what I mean. He
hasn't lit it up. He has been really he's accurate.
He can, you know he can.

Speaker 7 (17:02):
He's got a nice short, short, termediate game, you know,
passing game attack that he can operate with under. But
as far as him being a guy that's going to
put a team over the top, no, I mean his
ceiling would be in my opinion, it would be tua
is that Is that a successful pick for them to.

Speaker 4 (17:20):
Be your only only tour for the money, I mean,
only the contract would be it.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
That's what I'm saying. I see its siling being something
something I just I don't know. I just I'm trying
to figure out.

Speaker 3 (17:32):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (17:32):
And you know there's something I get to schaduur allure
I do. I'm not kidding myself because of just Dion
and all the other stuff that went on. I mean,
like the idea that he has his number.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
Retired at Colorado, that's a lot. It's just that's too much.
I just like, like.

Speaker 4 (17:52):
I get it, you're Colorado, thanks Dion for bringing everybody,
made us a party for half a year or whatever.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
Relevant.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
But when used tot retiring people's numbers, I mean they
got to be players.

Speaker 7 (18:05):
They're like rob My numbers. Not even my number is
only honored. I'm not even retired in college yet. So
like right, yeah, and all pro and did all these
things in the league. Right, is already done? You know
that's a lot, it's premature. He had a losing record
at Colorado.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
Yeah, he played well though, No, that's that's not but
I'm not order over.

Speaker 4 (18:24):
Let's not forget that. No, but but to get your
number retired, trust me. Okay, you know what I'm saying.
I do like this should be a little bit more
than that. Yeah, some time has to pass.

Speaker 7 (18:35):
Yeah, I mean Lamar Jackson didn't get his number to
retired the year he left.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
No, that's Cordell Stewart. He's still waiting for you, still
waiting as well. Yeah, right, rob G.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
Cordell Stewart's numbers not retired.

Speaker 7 (18:47):
Wow, See wouldn't you beat That's crazy? No, I know
that's insane. Yeah, man, you know, like you said though,
his his dad brought you know, brought the goods to
Colorado for a season. Had people on the side lines
at the at the stadium field. So oh yeah, all
the right people flying in. They don't even know where
Boulder was. Didn't take us to where Dion is. We

(19:10):
haven't seen little Wayne.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
Right, it's in Boulder. Hey, you know they're three and
seven this season. Don't disrespect the Buffalo. I'm just saying, Oh,
it's funny. We don't talk about him anymore. We don't
hear anything about it.

Speaker 5 (19:24):
I saw a headline today that Dion still says he's
the right man for the job.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
What's that? What's that?

Speaker 11 (19:30):
Tombs got Martin now just saying he said he was
right man for that. I saw it today, yesterday, we
did it on the herd. He's the right man for
the job, and he's got all the belief and just
he just needs more time.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
I needs more time. Is that it all right? We
all need more time. That monk needed more time, He
sure did. Who needed the monk? Yeah? Yeah, I went
back to the month. I'm sorry about that. I'm putting
my hands up. You said you're not what you for
me here, and I'm not involved in that. Conversation.

Speaker 5 (20:02):
Hey, Robber, did you see the light just dim from
Cary's eyes the last minutes or fifteen minutes while because
we're talking, because we're talking football again.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
He's on board. He's like, man, talk.

Speaker 7 (20:13):
Something else because it's I mean, I know all those
things that we're talking about right now, and it's yeah,
it's it's it's great. It's great topics. I've been through it.
I've seen it all. But yeah, with the other stuff,
it's new in basketball, man, it's basketball.

Speaker 4 (20:26):
No, it is all right. Well, I just I don't
know what to expect. And the Raiders have been so bad.
This might is just a game where they sack should
or six times, you know what I mean, it cause
fumbles and they win a game because they need to
win desperately.

Speaker 7 (20:43):
Row, what are you expecting? It seems like you're saying
this is the this is his opportunity. Yes, but what
are you expecting him to do? Uh? Be honest, Yeah,
be honest.

Speaker 4 (20:58):
I'm gonna say a little bit better than last week
because he only hit two of his last fourteen four sixteen,
so a little bit just six six. Yeah, I think
he'll be a little bit better. I don't think he's
gonna blow out the Raiders, you know what I mean,
and some aerial tack or whatever. I don't I think
they will get to him. If he continues to hold

(21:20):
on to the football, he'll he'll get sig.

Speaker 7 (21:22):
I'm gonna go on the record right now and say
he's gonna be super accurate. He's gonna get rid of
the ball. His passing percentage is going to be higher.
He's gonna have a they're gonna win this game as well.
So I'm saying he's gonna come out and he's gonna
be how many touchdowns?

Speaker 2 (21:35):
How many interceptions? What you got? That's that's I'll.

Speaker 7 (21:40):
Say he's gonna throw He's gonna throw eight touchdown and
he may throw a pick, but his but his numbers
that will be better.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
His numbers will be around like eighteen. I can carry
going down in the limbs. And they're gonna beat the Raiders. Great.
What the Raiders win a game. I mean that they
they got your door. They can beat up on Shador.

Speaker 5 (22:00):
They're gonna win the one you're not expecting this one.
They Miles Garrett is gonna live in that backfield and
it's gonna be one of the worst games you've seen.

Speaker 2 (22:06):
But Shador is gonna end up with the win. That's
all they're gonna say.

Speaker 7 (22:08):
In fact, shadure Sanders, Lee's Browns the victory on the road,
No sad door, Sanders signs shin eighteen of twenty or
eighteen of thirty one, you know, eighteen to twenty five, Robb,
he'll be in a hell for a buck. Twenty six
one touchdown, one pick, lost a fumble, but he made
the plays when they had to have it back because
Gino Smith threw another two picks.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
Gino, My goodness, Gino's pizza. What a bad He's been
bad this year. He's been really, really bad. Sorry, rob Ge,
sorry about that. All right?

Speaker 4 (22:37):
Coming up to Shaun Tate, we're gonna do some college basketball,
uh talk some NBA as well. He's the host of
Locked on the Hawks, the Atlanta Hawks.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
Of course we'll do that and much more refers. Let's
get you caught up.

Speaker 3 (22:49):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeart Radio.

Speaker 4 (23:00):

Fox Sports Radio On Your Worship Wednesday, Rob Parker, Carry
Rhodes in for Kelvin Washington. Now, let's welcome in our
next guest to Shawn Tate, college basketball NBA analyst and
host of Locked On Hawks podcast.

Speaker 2 (23:22):
To Shawn, what's up? Say?

Speaker 4 (23:24):
What is it a postcast? I'm sorry I said podcast?
Sorry about that. Uh, I'm just assumed I didn't read it.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
To Shawn. Say hi to Kerry Rhoades, how are you?

Speaker 9 (23:36):
What up though? What's going on?

Speaker 2 (23:38):
What's up? To Shawn? How you doing? Brother?

Speaker 9 (23:40):
I'll stand and appreciate you guys for having me.

Speaker 4 (23:42):
And here we are a college basketball season, and I
will say, what is it is this year twenty six
with our Tom is on winning another national championship.

Speaker 9 (23:50):
I'm sorry, we're not quite at twenty six yet. I
guess if you want to be technical and count to
COVID year, then yes. But he had a special message
where you last night they sent one out there to elections.

Speaker 4 (24:02):
Well that's why I brought it up, as I figured
we start there with.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
Me and de Seawan.

Speaker 4 (24:06):
We've had this running thing about Tom Mizzo because when
he won a national championship in two thousand, like two
or three years against Duke right, No, yeah.

Speaker 12 (24:17):
Who against Florida Floridaida Right.

Speaker 4 (24:19):
Okay, And I was doing radio in Detroit and I
said he wouldn't he would never win another national championship.

Speaker 2 (24:26):
Did Yeah.

Speaker 4 (24:26):
That was like two or three years after that to
two thousand championship and here we are twenty twenty almost
twenty twenty six. So anyway, are they gonna win a
national championship since what they did last night?

Speaker 9 (24:39):
I don't know, but I know that they in a
good position to do so. I interviewed cam Ward on
last night after the game. He said, we're the best
team in the country. That probably obviously means nothing in November,
but after taking down two SEC teams one last night
against Kentucky and in Arkansas at the beginning of the season,
I mean, we're not even seventy four games in and
that's supposed to be the best tip diference in the country.

(25:00):
So so far, so good. We typically don't see Michigan
State looked like this until March. But they keep this
up and find a way to put the ball in
the hole. Might be having a different conversation.

Speaker 4 (25:09):
You keep always saying that, oh way too March. You
know Tom Izzel owns March. He won a championship twenty
five years ago.

Speaker 9 (25:17):
Uh huh.

Speaker 12 (25:18):
I don't get all the rest of the success now,
don't get all.

Speaker 4 (25:20):
The what other success? Sports has a short menu wins
and losses.

Speaker 9 (25:25):
I was told Rob, you gotta be in it to
no no yourself.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
What's his record? What's his record?

Speaker 4 (25:31):
What's his record against blue bloods like Tom Mizzles has
had his head handed to him.

Speaker 9 (25:36):
Well, I know he just added another win to the result.
Callumn on last night. Last time I checked, Kentucky wasn't
blue blood. I think there's still a blue blood.

Speaker 4 (25:43):
I mean, when it matters. But anyway, go ahead carry.
I'm done with Tomas.

Speaker 12 (25:47):
I don't know if this matters anymore or not, but
I will say this much though, because as many of
those we talk about final fours making the NCAA tournament,
nobody has a longer streak of doing so.

Speaker 9 (25:59):
Consistently than is on Michigan State. So you got to
be there in order to cut down the whole thing.

Speaker 4 (26:04):
No, at some point you also got to win again,
That's all what I mean.

Speaker 9 (26:08):
Come on, man, and I agree with you. The reason
why I believe that we have these conversations about mist
because they put themselves in position to be considered amongst
those top teams, top team, UH in the country, amongst
those that have that kind of pedigree to have. We
have those kinds of conversations about yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:26):
It's it's as been good for sure.

Speaker 7 (26:28):
I mean we I think we know that, but you
guys have some type of some type of being going on.
But it slippy, that's all, gotcha, gotcha, But that's let's
let's let's switch this to the NBA a little bit.
You you went to the Pistons Hawks game, I think
that was yesterday, and the Pistons came out and snapped
the Hawks five game winning streak. Seems like Duran has been,

(26:50):
you know, stepping into his all Star like, all NBA
level type of play, and he's been really consistent.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
I want to talk about the Pistons a little bit here.

Speaker 9 (26:58):
Of course. I mean listen, I mean Jalen During I
think has kind of been one of those guys that
have been a product of what Detroit has been putting
together for the last few years, which at one point
in time I thought was a little bit of concern
that they're trying to keep up and keep things as
Detroit culture by dropping certain type of guys that that,
but you also got to be able to add the

(27:18):
number to the left side of assault, call him and win.
They hadn't been able to do that. Last year they
made they took a big step, obviously, and of course
this year then during putting up you know, twenty and
t almost out there looking like Ben Wallace all over
again to a degree, so they got the ball wrong.
And then not only just winning games and you got
eleven game win streak and all that amongst the best

(27:38):
in the NBA, but the way that they're doing it
by still keeping together that coach is still playing that
old school bad boys type style of basketball. But also
you factoring in the case that some of those games
they were doing so without Kid, without Astir Thompson, obviously
without Jade and Ivy who feels like we haven't seen
him in However, exactly when you're able to do that,

(27:59):
I think that you have no choice but to tip
the cat that what Detroit has been doing so far.

Speaker 7 (28:03):
So I want to I want to kind of piggyback
with the Pistons and what they're doing. And I thought
they would take a little bit of a step back
by losing Tim Hardaway Junior and Malik Beasley. With the shooting,
how has the shooting still been shooting at a high
clip or has that declined been the problem in some
of their losses.

Speaker 9 (28:20):
It's been an issue in some but I don't think
that it's been horrible. I mean, Duncan Robinson has been
a guy that has stepped up for the Pistons, and
he's not He's not necessarily just the only one. I mean,
you look at at Dantis as well, who came up
from the G League obviously when Grand Rapids and played
some played some time at Saint John's almost looking like

(28:42):
the player that he was at Saint John. So they've
been able to add some shooting just enough to kind
of get them by. I do think obviously at some
point they're going to need to add a little bit
more to that opposing teams who are just a little
bit more on the fly as the season goes on.
But winning games this early in the year even gives
them a little bit of a buffer, I believe, for

(29:02):
when you do ultimately, like every team does, kind of
going like a three or four game losing.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
Streak, I'm not here to rip on an eleven game winning. Shoot,
you win eleven games? Here, you go, what you got?
You want to see its face?

Speaker 4 (29:17):
Lar, but that that schedule has so many cupcakes on it.
I got a toothday. Okay, I'm just gonna be honest.
It's like, okay, there's.

Speaker 2 (29:26):
Nothing but this, nothing but bad teams. Look at it.
Eight of those eleven against really bad teams. That's all
I'm saying. But anyway, let's let's move on.

Speaker 12 (29:35):
I agree with you, Rob.

Speaker 9 (29:36):
I'll just take this one letter.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
Okay.

Speaker 9 (29:38):
It's funny how there's a narrative that gets put out there.
People say those things like what Rob just say, and
then when they lose, like, well, everybody's a professional on
this level. Those games are given Sunday.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
Yeah, yeah, all right.

Speaker 4 (29:51):
Last thing, we got about a minute or so. Tell
us about the Hawks and just where where are they?
Because they started to play a little bit better, they
had their five game winn. She snapped, just where the
Hawks going home dinn or a show up to the playoffs,
going to the playoffs.

Speaker 9 (30:08):
No, I've been They're going to the playoffs. I mean,
I'll tell you what doing what they're doing without Trey Young,
I think, and then obviously fantastic a lot. I can't
really argue too much of people say, well, they play
better without Trey Young, but I know that mama ain't
giving birth to twenty five and twelve every night either
and that and still ain't and still trying to figure
out what that contract is going to be. But you know,
for such a long period of time, I believe that

(30:30):
you know, they were consistently inconsistent. That's what I would say,
just enough to leave you still hanging there. They'll beat
some teams you don't figure, they would lose some teams
that you figured that they would beat. But they're controlling
the controllables right now. Jalen Johnson has been a stud
for them, obviously, and they're getting some contribution from their
bench to kill Alexander Walker. A lot of players playing

(30:51):
in Hawks uniforms free to the first or the second
season that they're relying upon to bring some contribution. By
the way, shocker and no Kristaps Persingers for good portion
so far of the year. Whatever that's about, not really
having that center, inserting o Yeka o Congo into the lineup,
a lot of guys playing out a position, a lot
of guys stepping up, but long season.

Speaker 7 (31:11):
Ago, well, Congo has been really good too. Man, Yeah,
he's an underrated player. When he plays, he plays well.

Speaker 9 (31:19):
I agree with that. Then Zachary Reachche is another one.
They're putting a lot into him, and obviously he didn't
play on last night. Had a little bit of a
right hip confusion, I believe. But I will say this
much too, is that you know v Crazie's been coming off. Yes,
I'm playing very well also, but they've kind of got
to get some other things out under control as well.

(31:39):
They've been doing a good job that hungry Hungry Hippo
being the paint, getting out in transition, one of the
best teams in the league at doing both of those
things didn't reflect on last night, but I think it'll continue.

Speaker 2 (31:49):
All right.

Speaker 4 (31:49):
Last thing, just tell me the school the best college
basketball team.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
In the country. Ooof on the spot, on a spot,
just give me who is it? That's it? I don't
want to Houston, all right?

Speaker 4 (32:03):
Well, DeShawn always Deshaun Tate college and NBA analysts, we
appreciate that, and host of Locked on Hawks postcast, I
got it right.

Speaker 2 (32:13):
Okay, we appreciate you. Thanks, my man. We'll have you
on again. All right.

Speaker 4 (32:20):
Oh god, I just threw up in my mouth. All right,
it is the Odd Couple coming up. We're going a
little last call and Major League Baseball has a new
TV deal and I am excited.

Speaker 2 (32:31):
Did you see that?

Speaker 4 (32:33):
Oh yes, it's a big new deal and Baseball is
gonna be seen on some different platforms coming up. So
we'll talk about that and get your last call right
here on the Odd Couple, Rob Parker, Carry Rhoades. We
want to hear from you right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Stick and stay.

Speaker 6 (32:53):
Because if you couldn't get in, now's your chance in
the US.

Speaker 2 (32:56):
It's last call.

Speaker 3 (32:57):
Time on the Odd Couple. And couldn't get in all show?

Speaker 2 (33:01):
Where's your chip?

Speaker 3 (33:02):
You can on Fox? Hurry up, Robin Kelvin gotta get
out of here. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Odd Couple with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays
at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (33:24):
Man, oh man, it is the Odd Couple on a
worship Wednesday. Carry Rhodes in for Kelvin Washington. We expect
him back.

Speaker 2 (33:35):
Menyana yay. That word again.

Speaker 4 (33:39):
Menyana, menana, men many.

Speaker 2 (33:43):
I haven't been to this restaurant before.

Speaker 6 (33:45):
Do you have a menana?

Speaker 2 (33:48):
You know?

Speaker 4 (33:48):
I'm by ling right, I'm no Spanish?

Speaker 13 (33:54):
Rob?

Speaker 2 (33:55):
Hey, what did? Why did you? Rob caution? There you go, Alex, Yeah,
good one? All right? All right, Rob manyana? How do
you say it? Manyana? Man not manana? Rob G? Is

(34:17):
that right? Which one to say? Harry had it do?

Speaker 1 (34:21):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (34:22):
No, I said menana manana.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
Racist victor racist?

Speaker 6 (34:30):
We're gonna ask Rob G Rob rob racist.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
I can't ask Rob G. He speaks fluent Spanish. That's
got to be racist. All right, Let's get to the
last call, the last it's last called, last call time

(34:54):
on the odome. All right, I didn't. I didn't in Atlanta.

Speaker 4 (35:08):
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio and
you are the last call.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
What's up hiding?

Speaker 13 (35:15):
Oh yeah, I love that?

Speaker 12 (35:16):
What's up guys?

Speaker 13 (35:17):
How you guys doing great?

Speaker 2 (35:18):
You know us having fun as always?

Speaker 3 (35:21):
Love that.

Speaker 13 (35:22):
Just quick shout out to my cousins shy On for
even telling me this thing exist.

Speaker 2 (35:25):
So wow, thank you Shaye.

Speaker 9 (35:29):
What up?

Speaker 2 (35:29):
We appreciate that. Yes, what you got for?

Speaker 14 (35:32):
Of course?

Speaker 13 (35:33):
Listen man I just want to call in for the
past couple of weeks, I keep getting cold feet every
time I do. I just want to talk about how
horrible the Falcons are, because unfortunately I'm a Falcons fan, right,
and you know, every year I'm like, you know what
this might be is you know, maybe we develop the
right players this time.

Speaker 14 (35:50):
And as soon as you get a good defense.

Speaker 13 (35:52):
What happens our offense fallows apart.

Speaker 14 (35:54):
I mean, it's just I can't ever catch a break.

Speaker 13 (35:57):
And it all starts from the top with Arthur Blank. Fortunately,
you know, yeah.

Speaker 4 (36:01):
I still remember Arthur Blank and at Super Bowl when
he went down on the field. Do you remember that, Yeah,
that's what celebt he was celebrating and like, dude, go
back up.

Speaker 2 (36:10):
Still, what are you doing down here?

Speaker 7 (36:12):
No?

Speaker 14 (36:12):
Absolutely, I think as soon as the players saw that,
they're like, you know what, we can relax out.

Speaker 12 (36:16):
He's down here.

Speaker 13 (36:16):
That means you got it in the bag. No, get
your ass back.

Speaker 2 (36:19):
Sorry.

Speaker 13 (36:20):
I was told I can't curse.

Speaker 14 (36:21):
Sorry, you get your back into the suite.

Speaker 4 (36:25):
And exactly when the game is over, you have plenty
of time to come down.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
What are you doing? No doubt?

Speaker 14 (36:31):
Listen to confetti drops at the end. Anyway, everyone has
a celebration. Why come and ruin that. I don't understand. No,
you know, I'll say this, like, he's a great, you know,
a person for the community. He's very philanthropic and he
you know, does well for the community and donates a
lot of money.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
I like that.

Speaker 14 (36:47):
I like that part of him.

Speaker 3 (36:48):
You know.

Speaker 14 (36:49):
Just some people aren't meant to be owners.

Speaker 13 (36:50):
Okay, it's time to sell the team. It's time to
sell the team to someone that knows what they're doing
and doesn't hire their friends.

Speaker 4 (36:58):
Well that that's a big issue, and we appreciate the call.
Thank you so much for that. I did be upset.
The most disappointing team in the NFL this year.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
No doubt. I know I mentioned it earlier.

Speaker 4 (37:09):
So rob G, do you have the information or you
don't have it?

Speaker 2 (37:14):
Rob G's like, no, I don't have it. What you
want from me? My headphones?

Speaker 9 (37:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (37:18):
Sorry, I know.

Speaker 4 (37:19):
You're ready to go already? All right, here we go
real quick. Major League Baseball today announced a new three
year rights deal with ESPN, NBC and Netflix. So ESPN
at one point it looked like they weren't going to
be there, but the goals they go back to NBC
which had the original baseball game. The first ever baseball

(37:40):
game broadcast was on NBC back in the I think
the thirties, which is unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (37:46):
But the Netflix will get the opener.

Speaker 4 (37:49):
They're gonna have one standalone opening day game, unlike the
years going by where they have all the games that
go on. Just one game, so that'll be cool. ESPN
will have some games games. Netflix will have the home
run Derby. There's all kinds of stuff going on here,
So do you want to check that out? Major League Baseball, ESPN, NBC,
and Netflix.

Speaker 2 (38:09):
Wow. Always, thank you so much, man, pleasure always you
know it is.

Speaker 4 (38:12):
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon is coming up next.

Speaker 3 (38:15):
I never miss your radio show.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
I never hear it, so I never miss it. Did
you hear that

Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant.
