Eye Couple, my partner Rod Parker, Happy birthday, Man, Man,
man Man, Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday. Oh yeah,
thank you. And we're giving you the black version, the
black version of happy Birthday. So that's good since I'm black.
(02:34):
That works, yes for those that don't know, Yes that
is how not always, but a lot of times black
people singing happy birthday. Yes a little different staple, yeah yeah,
say but the thanks Chris appreciated. And you know what,
can I say how old you are? Yeah, you'll say it, No,
(02:56):
you can say it. I mean, I don't know if
you you know, fifty three not four. We'll be here
all day. If Lebron's count, that'd be the whole three hours,
I know it would be count to fifty five. But
double nickels, right, yeah, that's a that's a that's a
good way to look at it, the double nickel, double
(03:17):
nickel birthday. And uh, you know what, I feel great.
I have to because you know I've said this to
you before. Um, I feel great. I feel like I'm
thirty five and I have never been happier in life.
So when you add all those things together, you know
what I mean, it's like, nah, that's great. It really
(03:38):
it's birthday present you could get and you are in
really good shape. You're a young fifty five, right. Most
people say they couldn't believe it. Most people were saying
today to me, that's what I got the most. It
was like, I thought you forty five, forty something, but
don't exaggerate. That's at thirty eight thirty seven, all right,
(03:59):
maybe not, but don't look at day over fifty three.
Thank you. There you go. You saved me two years.
But no, thanks so much for the well wishes. It
was unbelievable, just a response I got on Twitter and
Instagram and just friends hit me up from all over
the country and people I've known and family members. It's
(04:20):
been great and thank you so much. And even you
know Cindy from from upstairs. Cindy helps us with getting guests.
What's her exact title, Rob G? Guest brooker. Okay, I
wanted to get it right. She brought me. Look at
this chocolate cake she brought me for my birthday. Wow,
very very nice. Cindy, thank you so much. She's the
(04:41):
sweetest thing going. And you know, Chris loves she loves
our show, and she does great work for us. And
so Cindy, thank you, and everybody who wished me a
happy birthday. Thank you. Yes, yes, so let's welcome into
the Odd Couple crew, because you know what, Chris, we
wouldn't be able to do this fine radio program without them.
Of course, Rob G is our producer. Great to have
(05:04):
Alex backa engineer. He worked his butt off during the holidays,
took a couple of days off. He's got his hair
slicked back, he's got a twinkle in his eye, a
shine in his smile. He's ready to go. And of
course also Deb Carson, who will keep us updated throughout
the show. So Deb, thanks to Deb and everybody. And
(05:26):
yes they're all on the other side of the glass.
So come on, Chris Bussan on my fifty fifth birthday,
let's kick some ask. All right, that was the best
you've ever said it. That really was good, That really
was good. And I hate to drop this on you
on your birthday. I've been telling you all season, all
NFL season, to leave Tom Brady alone. I've been telling
(05:50):
you that you've written him off all year long. I
think after Week two you said the Patriots were done.
You said Brady's done. You've been saying that for seven years.
And the athletic pole NFL players, but about a number
of things. They did a quarterback poll, so who's the
most overrated, who's the most underrated? All types of things,
(06:12):
and the first question that they asked was which quarterback
would you least least like to face in a big game?
And guess who won going away? Tom Brady could do that.
Tom Brady could do that. Tom Brady did that fifty
two percent of the NFL players. That's huge. Fifty two
(06:35):
percent said he is the quarterback they would least like
to face in a big game. And considering that we've
got a big game this weekend with the Patriots, I
think that speaks volumes. Aaron Rodgers was the runner up
at thirty two percent. Drew Brees Pat Mahomes also received votes.
But Rob, wait a minute, you left off a piece
(06:57):
of the question. And this is the way the problem
comes in. The question was which quarterback would you least
like to face if he had your defensive signals. I
was just gonna say, since it's your birthday, we would
have gave you a rim shot. But nah, we can't
do it, not even on my birthday. That's all right.
(07:17):
I knew a joke was coming. I wanted to say
trigger alert, But here we go. I'm gonna I'm gonna
stop you before you get on your high horse and
talk about what how many times have you said? Eric
Dickerson says that Eric Rodgers is the best quarterback he's
ever seen. I mean you, you always want to say
the players you go to them for to buttress your point.
(07:39):
I don't know if I use that currec I know,
what was that? Look that up, rob Gi? Did I
use it correctly to bolster your points? Buttress? Look up? Butchers?
I may I may have lucked into it and used that.
What was that? I don't know? But anyway, you know,
always backing up your points with Eric Hickerson or some
(08:00):
other players said this or that fifty two of the league.
Rob it's saying that they wouldn't want to face Tom
Brady even at his age. Yeah, but the problem is
they're living in the past. They're looking at the Tom
Brady who did win last year. No, he didn't win
last year. He didn't win. Did you want out to
(08:22):
the Super Bowl? Did they watch this year? That's not
the same tom Brady from a year ago. It's not
tom Brady's not that guy anymore. People are just doing it,
you know what they want to do. They just want
They're afraid to stand out there and say, no, tom
Brady's not that guy anymore. They're afraid to do that
because they're like, well, I'll rather play it safety and sorry.
(08:44):
The safe thing is to praise Tom Brady live in
the past, talk about the championships. He wanted the past
and then just to cover themselves. And then when Tom
Brady loses, they'll go, well, what do you expect, He's
forty one years old, and they use that as the
excuse of of why Tom Brady has faltered. Just look
at what's currently going on. We're not talking about the past.
(09:07):
We're not talking about the Cowboys who had won two
Super Bowls, two playoff games since nineteen ninety five. They
won the other day. We're talking about Tom Brady, who's
not as good as he was just a year ago.
But when he was good, he's not that good. You
act like he's completely falling off the cliff. I'll give
(09:29):
you that, he's not quite what he was last year,
but he's still very good. He's still statistically had a
season comparable, if not better than Aaron Rodgers, who's very
much in the middle of his prime. Ask Houston, who
knew England beat as Indianapolis? Who knew England beat as
Kansas City? Who knew England beat as Chicago? Who knew
(09:53):
England beat Green Bay, Minnesota? I mean, why where does
this narrative that Brady's had a horrible seat He's in
coming from easy Parker? Look at his numbers. All of
his numbers are down, and they're down going back. Brady
Brady's a numbers. Some of them date back to the
worst numbers he's had since twenty thirteen, since twenty fifteen,
(10:13):
since twenty fourteen. It's all the numbers are down numbers.
Most of his numbers he's lost better than most than
No I'm talking about Super Bowl. When I'm talking about
based on Tom Brady. He used to be able to
cover up any warts that The Patriots have their warts everywhere.
They look like the wicked Witch of the West with
(10:34):
the warts. Tom Brady's not makeup this year. He can't.
He can't even throw a ball out of bounds when
he wants one play primy times. You're gonna say that,
that's like the one hundred and seventy first time I've
heard you reference that throw, you know, many times, referencing this,
you know many times to do as referencing this. His
(10:54):
passer rating was higher than Aaron Rodgers. We're not talking
about Aaron Rodgers. Rogers, We're not talking about him. It's
just a measuring stick. That's we're talking about stick. Because
most people still view him as the best passer in
the game, including you. His completion percentage was better than
(11:14):
Aaron Rodgers. How bad could he be if he's out
dueling Aaron Rodgers? Here we go. You ready for this
year by Tom Brady? Yes, it's the worst throwing ten years.
He can't even throw the ball out of bounds. Gronk
got two passes, no three passes this year in the
red zone? Can you used to feast on Gronk? Dark
(11:35):
is falling off a lot more than Tom Brady. They
run the ball more, you know why, because Brady can't
do the same things. How they beat Chicago, how they
beat Kansas. Have you watched the end of the year
with them? They're running the football more more, but not exclusively.
They still Brady is still the straw that stirs the drink.
(11:58):
And you know it. No, I think he just can't give.
You're gonna die with this this narrative, just like you
have the last seven years. You've been saying this since
two thousand he left. Know what happened? I've die every year.
You die on the Tom Brady mountain trying to kill him.
I didn't. He's washed up saying he's done. I didn't
(12:21):
die last year at the end of the game. You
know what happened. Tom Brady was the goat goat when
he fumbled away the ball on that fumble sack, tom
Brady cost the Patriots the Super Bowl. Tom Brady missed
the past last year. Tom Brady couldn't do that. Tom
Brady can't do that anymore. That's the point. Everybody's living
(12:41):
in the past on Tom Brady. The players have spoken.
They know what they know what it's like to game
plan for Tom Brady. They know what it's like to
stare in his eyes across the other side of the field.
They know what it's like to have a lead in
the fourth quarter and you've given that guy too much
time left on the clock. They know what it's like
(13:05):
to have a bunch of receivers that run four eight
forty yard dashes and you know they can't match you athletically,
and he somehow they get open and he picks you apart.
The players have spoken, Rod Parker, just go with it.
Just go with it. Eight seven, seven ninety nine on
(13:27):
Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine.
It's your turn the way in I know. Look, it's
Rob's birthday, so take it easy on him. But I
know you guys want to go at his neck because
to say Tom Brady is washed up and done and
has no chance, no chance to win the AFC and
(13:49):
get to the Super I'm talking about the fear factor.
How could you fear Tom Brady? Now? Years gone by? Maybe,
but now after watching the record, after watching Tom play,
I'm talking about Tom Brady. He's not the same guy.
Five they were eleven. If you're acting like they barely
snuck in the playoffs with a nine and seven records,
(14:10):
they were. They lost more games on the road than
they had in since two thousand and two or something.
Guess what this game this weekend? Where's it at? It's
in Foxborough, baby, I don't want to hear about the
road right now. It is not the same Tom Brady.
We'll see come. What is that Sunday Sunday at one
(14:32):
o'clock eastern? All right, it's your turn away in eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine
six sixty three sixty nine. We're the players, right, it's
Tom Brady, the guy you least like to face in
a big game. Or is he washed up? Like Rob
Parker says, it's the akable Fox Sports Radio Worst Throwing

(15:37):
into The Odd Couple Chris Brussard and my good friend
Roy Parker. We're playing this song just for him. Is
his fifty fifth birthday and this is his favorite sitcom
of all time. That's correct, right that in The Odd Couple. Absolutely,
the Golden Girls on a TV theme song Thursday on
my Birthday will be fall perfect. It's appropriate because you're
(16:00):
a Golden Boy. Now, that's right. You could actually be
on that show. And date one of them. Hey, b Arthur,
the late great b Arthur, that's the one I would pick.
All right, that's cool, that's cool. You. I know you
had a car accident recently, and I want to tell
you when you're shopping for car insurance, consider this. Geico
(16:21):
has been saving people money on car insurance for over
seventy five years. So if you're serious about savings, it's simple.
Go to Geico dot com. After seventy five years, they
know how to save you money. We said, it's your
turn the way in it's Tom Brady finished. Could put done?
As Rob Parker says? Or are the players in the
NFL right to still fear him? Eight seven seven ninety
(16:45):
nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty
three sixty nine. Let's get to the car, all right,
Let's start with Rick and Fort Lauderdale. You're on the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Rick, Rob,
happify my brother? Thank you appreciated Rick as a fellow
double Nickel double Nickeler. Hey we still look good, brothers.
(17:06):
I can say that's it and feel good. Hey, that's it. Listen, Chris,
you need to stop this love affair with Shady Brady. Okay, wow,
all those games that you mentioned he won at home.
The coach he caught when on a short week when
the coach had the most injuries at the time. So
I don't want to hear it all the rest of
those games he won at home. Why don't you bring
(17:27):
up the fact that the reason they lost a miracle
in Miami is because Brady left points on the table
where he could even know what time. Luck was left
on the class, right, is there something wrong with winning
at home? My goodness? Is that the crime and the
sent teld you about the good football teams were able
to win on the road. They were three and five,
(17:48):
and Rick is right what happened in Miami? Tom Brady
left him out there for that to happen. If you
wouldn't cashed in. They lost in Miami because of a
flukish nobody at the end of the game. That's why
they lost. Let's let's keep it real. A sixty nine
yard you know pass like that where you're tossing it
(18:10):
all over the place. It was a fluke. And and
here's something for your your good away. Teams Rob Houston
Texans five and three on the road. Wow, how's that
working out for him. Yeah, thoughts, Now, what are you
talking about? It tells you about the Patriots and had
never lost that many road games. It's since like two
(18:31):
thousand and two or four. That's what I'm talking about.
Three on the road. I'm talking about the Patriots. That's
not how they do it. That's not the that's not
the litmus test for what's the good? Tells you about
the Patriots. Have never been that bad, at least in
a decade. It's been so long. It just tells you
that this team isn't the same. All Right. What about
Jamal and Brooklyn? You're on the odd couple? Fox Sports Radio.
(18:53):
What's up Jamal? All right, Jamal? We lost Jamal? What
about Matt in India? You're on the odd couple? Fox
Sports Radio. What's up Matt? Hey? What's going on? Gentlemen? Rob?
Happy birthday, my man. Thank you, Bud, appreciate it. A
couple of things. One, I'm going to agree with Rick
from Fort Lauderdale kind of took my thunder, but I'm
(19:13):
with him. As a lifelong Colts fan. I've been watching
Tom Brady as close as anybody, and he's done um
as far as then beating the Colts this year. He's right.
They had twelve starters injured and they're one and five. Start.
Come on, that's not really fair. It ain't fair. I'm
just it's just a fact. But you also got a
fact fight. You also got to know who was playing,
(19:35):
what the scenario is before you do that. They but
but they beat them. It's a good team they beat
I get it. They were struggling at the time, but
they still beat them. All right, Hey, Steve, thanks for
the call. Matt appreciate it. Steve in New York, you're
on the odd couple Fox Sports Radio. What's up doing,
great man? Happy birthday to Rob. Thank you, Steve. I'm
(19:57):
thirty six, so I'm one year ahead. You're right, you'll
be doing fine at fifty six. There you go. Yes,
But hey, I gotta agree with Chris. I am a
you know, an unlikely New England Patriots fan in upstate
New York, and I always you know, we hear it
every year. But I really don't believe Brady's going down
the two. He looks good to me. Um those last
two losses on the road, I had some encouragement there
(20:19):
because they really should have won the game. In Miami.
If they do, they're twelve and four. They're the number
one seed, which she already beat the number one seed.
In that Pittsburgh game, the guys were dropping balls. Julian
Edelman dropped a couple, Josh Gordon dropped the key ball
that they couldn't keep the drives going and that still
was a tight game. Hey, let me let me give
you this the real quick. Let me give this. How
many Super Bowls have the Patriots won or gone to
(20:42):
when they have to go on the road. Tell me
how many? Well, you're you're You're right, Rob, And that's
why I'll tell you my second favorite team, believe it
or not, Chiefs. I'm tempted to almost root for them
to win because I want to see the Pats beat
the Chargers and actually have to go on the road
and just do it differently for change. I actually think
they can go to Kansas City and win. They they've
(21:02):
never done it. They've never, they've never done it. And
I'm talking about when when Brady wasn't broken down and
old like he is now, they couldn't do it. They've
never They've never gone to the super Bowl when they
had to go on the road. Tom Brady could to Brady,
can't do that. I'm glad Steve Carr because I was
starting to think the callers were giving you birthday sympathy.
Stop it, and I know you don't want pity, but
(21:24):
I was like, what in the world is going? Rob's
never had this much agreement. Here we go, Kevin and Wisconsin.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, keV? Hey?
How you doing? Rob? Hey? Chris? How you doing? Good? Good? Hey?
Happy birthday? Rob appreciated keV. I had to call it
and and they said, what do you want to talk about?
(21:45):
And I had said, I agree with Robert jusul my Man.
Why I admit that public whatever, Chris whatever. People listening, well, Hey, Rob,
I enjoy Rob's take on a lot of things that
I have noticed that Chris Jwe and Colin have a
(22:07):
lot of hate for Aaron Rodgers and being fro wisconsint.
It just really gets our goat, you know, hearing you
guys always trying to make it seem like the Super
Bowl is a team sport, and Brady's had a better team,
a better coach of better GM his whole career. But
he's not a better player or challenge than Aaron Rodgers.
(22:28):
That's the I'm a big fan of Aaron Rodgers. Actually,
I just point out the facts. I'm knowing this being objective. Rob.
You know you've heard me. I've agreed with you. He
might be the best guy we've ever seen throw the
ball at that position, but he doesn't have the accomplishments
to be in the goal conversation. And this year he
was down. I've always I've always said that that he
(22:52):
needed to win two at least too much of the ball.
I've never said he was the goat. You know I haven't. Right,
We're similar, We're somewhat more similar. Did people think in
that case? Because because he's the greatest throwing the football,
but to beat the goat, you gotta win a little
bit more. Let's squeeze one more in Ron in Missouri.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's
up Ron? Hey Rob? And Hey Chris, what's up doing?
(23:15):
Happy birthday? Rob? Appreciate that, Ron. So my thing is
you keep comparing at the twenty thirteam, which is literally,
uh Brady's prime, So why do you keep comparing him
during his prime? Like that's to me like if he's
(23:36):
if he's still at the prime level, then he's still
doing good. No, but my point is, like last year,
the guy won the was a year ago he won
the MVP, and go look at his numbers. What I'm
telling you is when you look at his numbers this year,
all of them are down from a year ago. And
in the league where everybody's throwing the ball in the
(23:57):
status are inflated, Tom Brady is number fifteen, and quarterback
Waiting he's number you know what I mean. All his
numbers are way down from Tom Brady just from a
year ago. And that's my point is that he's not
the same guy as you saw last year through five
hundred yards in the Super Bowl. He's not close to
that guy. And that's why I'm telling you the Patriots
(24:19):
will lose to They will lose to the Chargers. All Right,
you heard it. I'm gonna take it easy. I'm gonna
soften up and move on. For it's your birthday, So
all right, coming up, we will get with Chris Myers,
NFL analysts for Fox Sports, and he will be at
(24:41):
the Dallas Cowboys Los Angeles Rams game this weekend. So
it'll be great to talk with him, but first let's
get to Dab Carson for the latest in sports. Dad. Welcome, gentlemen,
A pleasure to speak with you, Rob Parker. Wishing you
a very, very happy birthday. It's a pleasure to see
your smiling, enthusiastic face every day, and I wish you
think about the best an since it's your birthday. Yes,
(25:03):
I'm not going to tell you how wrong you are
about Tom all right, don't tell me. I'll be out
there and thank you for those wishes, of course, of course. Hey.
Fox Sports Radio Zone host Andy Furman says the bengals
top choice to be their next head coach is Rams
quarterbacks coach Zach Taylor. It's not a done deal yet.
Multiple reports, including ESPN, report the Taylor will officially be
(25:24):
offered the job once the Rams complete their postseason run. Now,
of course, no postseason run for the Steelers this year,
and the team president aren't. Rooney. The Second says all
options are on the table for receiver Antonio Brown except
releasing him. Rooney says, right now, it's hard to envision
Brown being a Steeler when twenty nineteen's training camp opens.
(25:45):
Rams running back Todd Gurley is not listed on the
team's injury report. He's expected to play Sunday against the
Cowboys as he recovers from his knee injury. Dallas receiver
Cole Beasley is questionable after missing practice all week with
an injured ankle. We do have Thursday's Discovered Card key

Great to talk with him because he's got one of
the huge games this weekend. He'll be sideline reporter for
the Dallas Cowboys at Los Angeles Rams game on Saturday
eight fifteen Eastern time on Fox. It's Fox Sports broadcaster
Chris Myers. Chris, welcome to the Odd Cup. What's happening now?
(27:34):
Thanks for good Rob, Chris, thanks for having me on.
It's good to talk to you. We're looking forward to
it and let's get right to it. The game you
have a lot of people are really interested in that one,
especially how much of a chance. I think obviously most
people have the RAMS favorite. How much of a chance
do you give Dallas to go in there and surprise
people and win this thing? I get I get him
(27:55):
a good chance because of their defense and because of
the way they're they're using Doc Prescott. Obviously, Zeke Elliott
is running like you expect him to. I actually I'm
doing the sideline in this game with Aaron Andrews and
of course Joe Buck Troy Aik went up up in
the booth calling it for Fox, but I actually got
to call the game. The last time these two teams met,
which was in Week four of last year, was in Dallas,
(28:18):
and Wade Phillips had a really creative plan of keeping
Prescott from roaming around and getting open. Of course, at
the time, des Bryant was his main target, and they
did a pretty good job on Ezekiel Elliott. And that's
really where the RAM offense came to life under McVeigh
with with Todd Gurley had a terrific day running and receiving,
and he will play I will also see c. J. Anderson,
(28:38):
but Gurley I was out of practice yesterday, was running
fine with that with that knee, so I think that
the Rams are favored there at home. They had the
better record during the course of the year. But Dallas
was impressive last week. I was on that field when
when they kept Russell Wilson and Seattle's ground game in check.
And we're able to do enough. So it wouldn't shock
me to see them win. But I think the Rams,
(28:59):
if you pointed to which ways it is going to go,
I lean towards the Rams, especially since Dallas isn't a
good road team. And what is it a seven point
spread or something like that. Yeah, the last one I saw,
you know, seven, So Chris uh, here's the only thing.
I expect the Rams to win this game. I know
they lost last year their first playoff game against um Atlanta,
(29:24):
but this but I expect them to win. But but
this is they are trending, or at least I thought
they trend They were trending downward. They were two and
two in December, you know, after getting off to such
a great start, and the whole buzz about their early
season was about the Rams going to the Super Bowl.
I mean, that's how good they have played to start
(29:44):
the season. Do you look at it that way? Did
they have they trended downward. Uh of late, Yeah, when
you lose. You know, they were on national TV with
the Eagles and Bears and lost to those two teams,
and but yet they were thirteen and three and still
one of the highest scoring offenses. I I think their defense,
and they even kind of remarked about that. Some of
the players said, you know, we got knocked out early
(30:06):
last year, our first playoff with this group, and then
and then this year with a thirteen and three record,
where kind of people are doubting us, and so they
come in with a little bit a bit of a chip.
Now they didn't they didn't beat great teams, but the
last couple of games, even without Girly, when they finished
up the year and their regulars played, they didn't rest
their starters like they did last year, and I thought
that was a mistake with a young team in the
playoffs when they lost to Atlanta, and they played well defensively,
(30:31):
keep to leave is back healthy, So that makes Marcus
Peters a little better around the corner. So I think
defensively they'll be better. They beat San Francisco Arizona, but
but at least they stayed in their rhythm offensively and
one other factor I like about this RAM team in
this matchup is that and Dallas does it well their defense,
but they play with Christopher Shard really kind of calling
the defense came over from Seattle. They played that same
(30:52):
kind of Seattle defense a San Francisco plays it, and
so Sean McVay matches up his offensive approach matches up
well against that. He beat both of those teams twice
this year and has done well against them over his career,
and I think he's got the personnel to do it.
They'll missus Cooper Cup, but they will have Todd Gurley back,
and so I think that's I think the Rams will
(31:14):
be able to outscore Dallas. And it's good point that
Cowboys are not. They're a different team when they're at
home in terms of the way that they play versus
on the road. And they'll have fans here, you know,
there'll be it'll be a big crowd, but there'll be
more Ram fans at Cowboys fans. They think some people
are making a bigger deal out of that than there's
really the case. Sean McVay is, of course the Golden Boy,
and somewhat deservedly so, but is already in his second year.
(31:35):
He seems to have a coaching tree already. Anybody who
had a cup of coffee with him is getting a
right if they lose this game, Chris, do you see
some of that shine coming off Sean McVay and people
starting to doubt him? Yeah? I think, yeah, Well I
think I think that coaching tree, some of the branches
(31:56):
may be broken if if, if they lose this game.
And you're right if he joked this week and said, look,
I'm too young to have a coaching tree, and he's right.
But it's amazing with map La Floor being hired in
Green Bay, Zach who's kind of slid into that spot,
looks like he might get the job, and instance it
really is, it's it's it's a trend beyond belief. But
what made this work for for mcveay is that he
(32:19):
had a defensive, established defensive coordinator in in Wade Phillips.
And I think that's what happened with mattin Age in Chicago.
He won the division. He was an offensive minded guy
from the Andy Ree tree of offense, but he had
an established defensive guy who just got hired as the
head coach in Denver to kind of break that trend.
But yeah, this is a big game. Even even Sean
(32:40):
McVay said that. You know, I learned some things too
as a as a head coach. Last year, I called
the plays. I let my special team's coach do what
he did, and Wade Phillips do what he did. But
this year, I still they're doing their thing, but I'm
a little more. I have a better overview, a better
overall understanding during the course of the game. And I
think that's something he has to do, even though he
enjoys calling plays and designing plays. It's the odd couple
(33:01):
on Fox Sports Radio. I guess Chris Myers from Fox Sports.
Of course he'll be covering the game, the Big Game
on Saturday. And I guess the one I wanted to
ask you about was Jeff Goff, I mean Jared Goff.
And he also was so hot and played so well,
but then he had a really bad dry patch, rough patch,
(33:24):
whatever you want to call it. For a minute, I
thought Jeff Fisher was still coaching him, but should they
be concerned about, you know, the way he ended this
season because he had a stretch where he had more
interceptions than touchdown. Yeah, it was against yeah, some good
defenses and they're not concerned at all about him. And
he's got a very kind of California cool and it's
almost people think that he's a blofer, disinterested in and
(33:47):
he's not. He's very he's very plucked and he can
make all the throws. I think the one thing maybe
he does sometimes is he gets it when there's pressure
a little bit off balance, and so that's when you
get you get those interceptions. But in fairness, he had
Girly missing in a few games, and he also had
Cooper Cup who was his most reliable receiver and the
shorthanded guy, so he had to kind of readjust with
(34:08):
some of the other receivers that they're using. Now. You know,
they want to get Brandon Cook's back involved more Gerald
Everett at the tight end position, and they'll use Girly
a lot out of the backfield. That's something they did
successfully against Dallas. They think he can win the receiving
matchup against linebackers once he gets out there. So from
a ram standpoint there, he's healthy, he's plugged in. I
(34:29):
think his big leap was you know, and he said
he wasn't nervous, but he said it was a different
feeling when he went into that first playoff game last year,
and that was after he sat a week and then
after they had some time and Atlanta came in coming
off of their Super Bowl playoff experience. So I think
he learned a lot in that. He's only twenty four
years old, but certainly he's physically capable and mentally he's
(34:51):
plugged into McVeigh. They're they're on the same page. Chris
lasting from me, I want to move away from from
your game. Kyler Murray, the news came out to Daty
he's expected to enter the NFL draft. How do you
think he could fare in the league. I mean, he's
only five nine. We haven't seen a quarterback Daskmassin's Doug
Flutie and he had you know, he was okay at
(35:11):
times that had his issues. Do you think the league's changed, though,
to the point where a guy like Murray can really
be a top quarterback in the league at some point? Yeah,
I do. I do think it's changed. I think with
the right kind of coaching and an offensive approach. When
you look at it, it's not that so much that's
a hype difference, but what Mahomes has been able to
do in such a hurry in Kansas City, even what
(35:34):
Jackson did in Baltimore. You know, I thought he was
a year or two away, and for him to come
in and it was a tough playoff game and he's
still gave it a good effort at the end. But
but I think younger quarterbacks are just coming in with
so much more a great ability and a greater understanding
of whatever offense they're put in, with a coaching staff
and people around them, and I think they're adapting a
lot quicker. And so I think and look at Drew Brees,
(35:56):
who's barely sixty and has always defied the odd in
terms of a big guy a little guy, because he
worked at his craft and found ways to do it
within the coaching and obviously him and Sean Payton have
a good thing going. So would not surprised me at all.
I know there were rumors like, hey, it would Arizona
even take him with a top pick and trade Josh Rose.
I don't think that's happening. I think that people are
(36:16):
getting carried away with that. But it wouldn't surprise me
to see him be given a chance with a hot
draft pick and play in the NFL. Chris Myers, thank
you so much for the knowledge, and that'll be a
good one. Man. We'll all be watching on Saturday when
Dallas comes into Los Angeles to take on the Rams.
Oh you guys, enjoy anytime, take care of appreciate Chris.
(36:37):
All right, All Star games as supposed to be for
the fans. But what happens when they take it too far?
That's next. It's the eye coup of Fox Sports Radio.
From a hot air balloon landing on a car to
a load of concrete falling on one, We've covered it.
Talk to farmers, we know a thing or two. Because
we've seen a thing or two. We are farmers under written.
(36:58):
My farmers took fire insurance exchange affiliates products unavailable in
every state. All Right, it's the eye couple of Chris,
Bruce Sard and Rob Parker. Oh yeah, you remember that
Spider Man? Chris, Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's funky love spider Man.
(37:18):
I notice is a funky I didn't. My favorite superhero
was Batman? Which one the camp be won? Or like
the cartoon Batman? Which everyone any? Batman? Batman? And I
love this show. I used to love that show with
Adam West right and right. Yeah, with all this shit,
you know, compile and all that, I loved that show.
(37:41):
I love Morgan, Superman, spider Man. I agree that Batman
is a great show. Is he your favorite superhero? Yeah?
I would go with Batman, super or Superman. I'll say,
you know what, I would say Superman only because I
wanted to be a newspaper guy and Clark Kent was
a newspaper guy and he was looking out for the
little man, you know what I mean. But I do
(38:01):
want to say Chris real quick. Earlier in the show,
when we started it, I was saying thanks to Cindy
for bringing Uh she put down a card and the cake,
and I didn't think I bought Scott and also Elijah.
They also signed a nice card for me. So the
cake and the card were from those guys upstairs, and uh,
(38:21):
thank you guys. I really really appreciate and they know
that chocolate is my favorite. So we're good to go.
Little Brown knows and nothing wrong with that. You know what,
that's not you know what, that's the frosting on my nose.
Scott's a great guy, and obviously Elijah is too. Oh yeah,
(38:43):
you know, all our social media. All right, Well, Rob,
I wanted to get to this quickly. Uh did you
see the second returns for the NBA All Star voting?
Right now? It's just fans now. So I think Donald
Trump got elected again, right, I mean almost almost got in.
Got a vote, I know, man, come on, come on.
(39:03):
But anyway, the coaches will have their vote and the
media will have its vote. I'm one of the media
vote voters, so I'm looking forward to doing that. But
the fans are voting right now, and Rob, it's it's
just getting ridiculous. The starting front court in the West
(39:23):
does not include Kevin Durant or Anthony Davis. Instead, it
includes Paul George, which I can live with. He's having
a great year, even though I'd have Durant and Davids
ahead of him, but includes Luca don Chi, the rookie
in Dallas. Now, Luca is a bad boy. He's going
to be a perennial All Star and more. I love
(39:45):
his game, but starting in the All Star Game, he's
like the third leading vote getter out of everybody. And
then the starting backcourt Steph Curry, Legit, Derek Rose, Derek Row,
and Dwayne Wade is a starter in the East. I mean,
I think hopefully these will change because you'll have the
(40:06):
media and coaches voting too, and maybe the fans will
come to their senses. But Rob Derek ros having a
great comeback year, but no, he should not be an
All Star, not in the West. And Dwayne Wade it's
his farewell tour and we're all excited, and you know
he's been a great player, a Hall of Famer, first
ballot easy, But no, he should not be starting in
(40:29):
this All Star game. I'm sorry, I disagree with you,
Chris from this damnpoint. Those things don't bother me. It's
the fans game. It should be left up to the
fans who they want to see. It's not the end
of the world, it's not the should we just take
everything out of it? You know, they took they took
away used to be all fan vote. They took it away,
(40:49):
they gave it to the players, and then two hundred
players didn't even vote for Lebron James to be on
the All Star team. So you're ripping and banging on
fans aren't much better. I'm saying ripped them to I know,
but but I'm saying so But they didn't vote for
Lebron and then what guys who got votes in the
players votes were embarrassing. So my point is, maybe who
(41:09):
gets called it's called the all It's it's an exhibition game.
Be a star, Chris the funn. What's the big deal
it was? It's Look, I'm not saying it's the end
of the world, but it's an All Star game. How
many times you're an All Star has something to do
(41:30):
with your legacy. I don't care how great you are.
If you only make one or two All Star games,
your legacy is not gonna be as great as it
should be. And when you're what if they want to
put Spencer din with the end, why not? He's playing great,
the nutser, but he's not playing at an All Star level.
But he's saying it out a starter. Let's put it
that way. Starter. I mean, I'm just saying, let's get
(41:53):
the real starters in there. That's all I'm saying. I
Couple be back. Yes, indeed, it is the I Couple.
I'm Chris Brusard alongside my partner and birthday boy, Rob Parker,

us on Twitter. Rob is at Rob Parker FS one
and why why didn't everybody do him a happy birthday?
Give him a happy Birthday present? And follow him on Twitter? Hey, Hey,
throw me into I'm at Chris Underscore Brusarry Rob. We
(42:37):
spent the first hour, in large part talking about Tom
Brady and the NFL and I want to stick with quarterbacks,
but I want to dip into the college game because
Kyler Murray stated. It was reported today that the Oakland A's,
of course, who drafted him in Major League Baseball and
have his rights, gave him four and a half million dollars. Yes, yes,
(43:00):
that they expect him to enter the NFL draft. Now
that doesn't necessarily mean he won't play baseball, but that's
a sign that it may be up in the air.
The question I want to throw out to you, Rob,
is where do you think he should do? Now, let
me say this before we get into this discussion. Whatever
(43:22):
the kid wants to do, whatever's gonna make him happy,
That's what I want him to do. If he wants
to play baseball, more power to you. If you want
to play football, more power to you. So it's all
up to him. But we're just gonna give our opinions
on what we think he should do. And before we
get into it, Rob GE's gonna read a few quotes
from some anonymous scouts in both baseball and football on
(43:46):
what they think of Murray's prospects in each sport. Let's
get started here with baseball scout number one, who says,
I have serious doubts he loves baseball enough to grind
it out in the miners. I just think Kyler is
pretty in ure mentally, and I'm not sure he can
handle the real baseball world, given that he's raw and
he's famous, right not In his quote number two, again
(44:09):
from a baseball scout, he can be a star. He
has speed, good raw power, legitimate center fielder, but he's
so far behind the curve because of football. It's gonna
take him longer to develop. And I really wonder if
the football bug is too strong for him to say no. Now.
On the flip side, former NFL XAC MIKEA. Lombardi had
(44:29):
the courage to put his name on it, talking about
Kyler's a football player, says he's an NFL quarterback with
everything other than height. Do I think it's gonna be
a first round pick. I'm not sure. I think he's
more of a skill set than Russell Wilson, and he's
got a Patrick Mahomes kind of arm. I don't know
his baseball skills, but I think the high end is
higher in football. All right, Well, Rob, I'm gonna put
(44:52):
it out there. I hope he plays football, and I
think if he wants to be a celebrity in addition
to a great athlete, but if he wants to be
like an icon, uh, someone who you know, is just
known throughout America because of his play. I think the
routest football I mean, clearly, NFL and NBA players are
(45:16):
the most well known in America. Mike Trout is the
best player baseball player in America, and a lot of
people couldn't recognize him if he's walking down the street,
and you know, you just they just don't have Baseball
is not It's still popular and all that, but it's
not populations. Hold on, it's not capturing the imaginations of
(45:40):
the younger fans. It's average agents like fifty five for
its fans. You you got you know, it's so overstated
and overblown. Chris, just just seriously, just just spring up
attendance and all I want to ask, No, seventy two
million people buy tickets every year. You could do whatever
(46:02):
you want to say about that. My point is how
many baseball games? Seriously have you been to and seeing
the crowd, That's what I want to ask, be honest,
last year, what last year? How many games did you do? Okay,
did you see any young people there at all? Or
everybody's fifty five? Everybody was fifty five? Like you stopped.
Stop And my point, young people people, my flight gets
(46:24):
as popular among the youth as basketball. In football, all
I'm saying is the biggest look you talk about it,
we got right now some free agents in baseball. When
you talk about money and you talk about there's always
cycles that go on in all sports. There was a
time when NBA, the NBA was on tape delay. My
whole point, Yeah, but now it's okay. But the NFL
(46:47):
baseball used to be America's pastor and it still is.
My point. My point is that there's a long list
of Heisman Trophy flops I could go through the list,
and I'm not saying if the kid wants to get
the shot, I'm not rooting against him. Go play football
if that's really what you want to do. But just
because you won the Heisman in college football, I could
(47:11):
go through a list of people Jason White, Andre Ware,
Chris Winky, Pat Sullivan, RG three, uh Gino Torrettea, Tim Tebow,
Archie Griffin, uh Matt Leinard uh Chip, Danny warfule Ever
could do the same thing. Johnny Man talk. I mean,
(47:36):
he probably has more at least as many flops, but
I'm at least But I'm telling you that when the
guys that size as well, I think he has a
better shot to play longer, make more money. Not immediately.
You're right the football. You you might go on a team,
and if you're not a starter or whatever, people might
know you. If it's just about being known and being famous,
(47:58):
then he'll opt for football. But what I'm talking about
long term, long term, I think a guy of that size,
and you know what, maybe he'll go a year or
two and try it out to figure it out with football.
But I'm just saying, just because you've had success in
college football, doesn't mean you're automatically going to be that
star in the NFL. Robert Griffin, the third RG three,
(48:22):
is a perfect example of a guy who was a
big time Stars, a big time Stars first year in
the league. I think your best argument is that you
have a much longer career, most likely in baseball, and
over the course of your career, you know, you would
tend to make more money. I mean, quarterback is a
position where you get huge money in the NFL. But
(48:42):
you still if you're a star in baseball, you can
have you know, a longer career and probably make more money.
And obviously it's not doesn't take the physical toll on
you that football does. But to say you know, he
might fail and a lot of highsman just I mean,
that's not the three to say that about any That's
(49:03):
not what I'm saying. No, that's not how hard baseball is.
That's the hardest thing to do, But that's not what
I'm saying. People have been hot shot prospects in high
school and college and have and even in Triple A
minors and haven't lived up to it. Heck, we've seen
stars in MLB fall off after two or three years
(49:25):
or one's what's the average career in the NFL. Oh,
it's it's not nowhere close to Baseball's four years. Okay, no,
nor Fleet right, three and a half years is what
they say is the average career. But I'm just saying,
I'm not saying that he's gonna feel because he was
a Heisman Trophy Yea, but that that I mean it's
the same for baseball. No, when two ninety six, No,
(49:46):
But I'm talking about that. I'm talking about the idea
that just because just because you were a Heisman Trophy
winner doesn't mean that the game always. Tim Tebow won
a national championship as a starter and was on another
national tip championship t and couldn't even throw a fifteen
yard pass consistently, but and didn't make it any Who's
saying he's gonna be a star, I don't know. I mean,
(50:09):
like nobody's saying Murray is definitely gonna be a star.
That's not what this conversation is about, because we don't
know if he's gonna be a star in either sport. No,
nobody knows. Yeah, and Tebow, we knew could not play
in the NFL as a quarterback. We knew. I mean,
you could see he wasn't a pastor. Even in college,
(50:30):
Murray does have skills both running the football and passing
the football. And with the NFL now they adopt you know,
it's a lot more closer to the college game in
terms of these offenses. You know, he's got a shot.
I mean, again, who knows. But I'm just saying, if something,
if it's important to him to be this icon, this celebrity,
(50:55):
it is to a lot of these younger players in
these sports, then I'm just saying football is the way
they go. I personally hope he plays football. I personally hope,
you know, whatever he wants to do. It doesn't matter
to me either way. But I'm just saying, if you can.
It's so hard to hit a baseball, and if and
if they really believe you have some talent not to
(51:16):
give it a shot. And we've seen other people who
have tried to do it. It's very difficult, There's no
doubt about it. And I get it. Everybody. A lot
of their young kids don't want to work, they don't
want to put in work. They want to be a
star overnight, and that's the end of it. And that's why.
There's a lot of unfortunately, a lot of kids who
all there's only four hundred jobs in the NBA, and
(51:37):
there's all these top line Division one schools and all this,
and a lot of kids they give it a shot,
and a lot of them don't make it. Half the draft,
half the NFL draft, NBA draft crits comes from foreign players.
They're not even American. Fifteen guys in the entire country
got a guaranteed contract in the NBA Draft. Fifteen. No,
(52:00):
I get it. It's just amazing nothing. Yeah, it's a
lot of reasons for that. I mean, as you said,
you know, whatever it may. You know, they don't have
the leagues in certain parts of the country now, and
the inner cities, you just don't have as much access
to baseball. Baseball is not a sport you can go
out there. Like basketball, you can go out and shoot
(52:21):
by yourself and really work on your skills, you know,
your ball handling, your shooting, and become a really good
player without great coaching. As a younger guy, baseball, you
need to somebody to coach you and teach you the
fundamentals fielding the groundball and even judging a flyball and
hitting a baseball all that, and a lot of kids
unfortunately don't have access to that. But um, you know,
(52:43):
look like you said, we both said he more power
to him to do whatever he wants. But I think
I actually think he may have a better chance of
succeeding in football than baseball, just because baseball is such
a fickle sport and it is a sport of failure.
And I said, even in the major leagues, forget college
(53:08):
and the miners, we see guys and the majors who
have great runs for a year, two, three years and
then just fall off the map, you know. And so
but whatever he does, it'll be interesting. Um, so we'll see.
But yeah, we wanted to throw it out to you guys,
it'll be interested. And say, what if he's not drafted
(53:29):
to the fourth round or something with that change? No
talking about it. I don't think it matters. He's still
gonna get a shot. No, But I'm just saying it's
gonna get a shot, right, But I'm saying, would that
change his opinion? Because if you're drafted in the first round,
you think, Okay, they're drafted me for a reason, I'm
gonna play. Do you see what I'm saying I'm gonna
play right away. Well, but remember he's probably obviously he's
gonna go to the miners initially. Uh, and he could
(53:52):
be there for a few years. And that's what the
scout was talking about, Like he's famous now, he's in
many ways a household name him. And is he gonna
be fine with riding on a bus, you know, and
playing in double A and and all of that stuff,
So you dwell in anonymity in the minors, and that
could be hard for him. I have no idea what
(54:14):
he's like as a kid, this scout. I don't know
if he knows him. He said he's am mature. I
haven't seen that just from watching him. But yeah, making
scouts had some scouts of either had interaction or talk
to people are closer to him, because you know, when
you're scouting somebody, you also want to get a feel
for him. How does he treat people? Do you know
what I mean? How does he treat teammates? Is he
(54:36):
a fun guy? He's he a mean guy? You know,
they want to get a feel for him. So there's
a lot of that stuff going on. Yeah, so we
want to give you a chance to weigh in eight, seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven, seven, nine nine,
six sixty three sixty nine. You get a chance later
in the hour to talk about this. Kyler Murray's got
(54:57):
to look whatever he does, he's got a great future
ahead of me. How about that's? How about having that problem? Rob?
Should I go to baseball or football? Oh? It's a
good problem to have. We always bring up Dave Winfield.
That guy had four choices, is that you know what
I mean? And Dave picked baseball and it worked out
for him. He played for twenty years and was a
(55:19):
Hall of Famer and made a lot of money. He
could have gone to the NFL and be a tight end.
He could have gone to the NBA or ABA and
played basketball. He picked baseball. It worked out all right,
all right. Antonio Brown's days as a Pittsburgh Steeler numbered
FS one. NFL analyst Greg Jennings has the answer. Next,
it's The Eye Couple of Fox Sports Radio. Greg Jamie's
(55:41):
be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker week days at seven
pm Eastern four pm Pacific. From a dog accidentally flooding
a living room to a dog taking a joy ride.
We've covered it. Talk to farmers. We know a thing
or two. Because we've seen a thing or two. We
are farmers underwritten my Farmers Truck fire Insurance exchanges and

(56:46):
Welcome to the Odd Couple. Bird. We do this Evie
version on the Eye. Thank you appreciate Itthday, Happy birthday,
(57:07):
Rob Man. That's that's huge, man. I hope I'm I'm
blessed enough to make it to the double Nickels, No doubt.
That's how I feel. Greg. Absolutely like people are like well,
should I sell your birthday or how old you? I'm like, dude,
I'm not ashamed to be fifty five. I'm very proud
to be fifty five. I feel good. I'm happier than
(57:27):
I've ever been in life. Man, I'm good. That's awesome. Man,
that's awesome. Greg. Before we get to the NFL, I
want to ask you, I guess this is somewhat the NFL.
Kyler Murray came out today that he, uh it, will
declare or likely to declare for the NFL Draft. What
type of quarterback do you think he'll be in the NFL?
(57:48):
I think three or four years ago he wouldn't have
even been given a chance to succeed in the NFL,
and now there's reports he could be a first or
second round pick. What do you think about him in
the NFL? You know, after watching him this year and
specifically on that stage in the National Championship Game, I
(58:09):
liked Tyler Murray. I like what he provides to a team.
I like his bravadas as a receiver, being in that
offensive huddle. You want a guy that is sure of
himself and knows what he provides to that to your offense.
And I see that in him. So that step one
and all the intangibles, all the skill sets and what
(58:32):
it takes to be a professional quarterback on the next level.
He makes every throw. He throws the ball really well
with velocity accurate. I like Tyler Murray on the next level.
What about let's switch over to the NFL in the playoffs.
(58:52):
The big game, of course, is here in Los Angeles
with the Rams and Cowboys. Rams are seven point favorite,
even though to me they ended the season basically on
a downward trend because they were unbelievable, and I know
they were. They won thirteen games and all that, but
they they struggled. In December Greg two and two Cowboys
(59:13):
have been hot. They won their first playoff game. Who
do you like in this game? Um? You know what?
I like the Rams. I like the Rams for a
couple of reasons. Number one, because they're playing um in
their weather and their climate. I would say if if
it were any other team, I would say because they're
playing at home. But when when we're talking about LA
(59:34):
and the Rams, the opposing teams specifically one of the
most historic teams in all the football is definitely gonna
have their fans flooding that that stadium, So um, we'll
see how much of a home game it will be.
But I like the fact that they have a chance
to redeem themselves from last season at home, a young
(59:56):
team who had no playoff experience. Obviously, they didn't finish
the way they wanted to last year. Going into this season,
they had all the high stakes, everything was right there
in their hands for the one seed. They let that
slip away, so they have something to prove. And I
don't think anyone but truly believe that this will just
(01:00:18):
be a give me a gimme game because of the
way the Cowboys are playing. And you know what, earlier,
Chris made a point and I thought it was a
good one about the McVeigh thing, his whole you know,
you know magic that he's got going there hiring coaches
now who rubbed elbows with him or had a cup
(01:00:38):
of coffee. You know, if you had a cup of
coffee with him high school, Yeah, you're like an NFL
coach now. But if he doesn't win this game, that'll
be two years in a row when they win all
these regular season games and lose a home playoff game.
Some of that might wear off. What do you think, Yeah,
I think I think when you look at his resume
(01:00:58):
that has seem to be the quickest build built resume
and all of coaching he has, he really does have
something to prove when it matters. A regular season is great,
but when you can coach and win games in the playoffs,
that's when you start cementing your legacy. That's when your
(01:01:20):
legacy becomes really foundated. Um And so I think he
understands the importance of what's at state, what's before them,
and it's going to be a tough task because of
the way the Dallas Cowboys are playing right now. Greg.
We look at some of the coaching hires. Mike McCarthy
hasn't gotten a job yet, says he'll wait and sit
(01:01:41):
out till twenty I don't know if he really saying
he's saying he's waiting. Nobody wants to hire him, to
be honest. Well, you you, of course were in his offense,
and you know it was a different a few years ago.
But do you think that his offense. I think the
feeling is that it was a bit antiquated compared to
Kansas City and what Sean mcvagh and some of these
(01:02:02):
other teams are doing. Did you think that was a
fair criticism of McCarthy's offense? You know, I mean, I
believe it is a fair assessment of his offense. Honestly,
it's effective. But it's been effective, and I think everyone's
gonna look at it from the lens of it's been
(01:02:23):
effective because you've had Aaron Rodgers, right, and so I
think the fact that he has that kind of looming
over him, it doesn't bowl well. So yeah, he's gonna
say I'll sit out. Look, no, trust me, if someone
came knocking at your door, you're not gonna sit out.
But because no one has jumped at the task or
(01:02:44):
the opportunity of hiring McCarthy, specifically because he's known not
to be as creative and innovative as some of these
other coordinators and play callers, that's going to hurt him.
And more than anything, the that Aaron Rodgers question and
challenge his play calling and you couldn't be creative would
(01:03:06):
arguably one of the most talented quarterbacks of our time. Now,
where are you on the black coaches? We call it
black Black Monday because five of the seven black coaches
got whacked. And now through this new hiring process. What
there's only one job luff right, Cincinnati. And then yeah,
(01:03:26):
and there's talk that you know, we had we had
heard yesterday, maybe they go with Chris Rashard, but um,
you know now it's looking like Zach Taylor. So so
we'll see who they go with. So here we go.
You mean to tell me that fla five black coaches,
you know, went by the wayside, and then in a
year where there were eight openings that no black coaches
(01:03:48):
got hired. That's not a good look. This is the problem.
This is a problem with the Rodney rule. This is
the problem with when you have a black coach in
that position and they're given almost no chance, like a
Steve Wooks to succeed with the rookie with the rookie
(01:04:10):
quarterback all year. And so it's it's frustrating because you
have all these openings and you have these coaches who
have been fired, and you know, in the back of
our minds, I don't care who you are most of
the end. Specifically the black coaches who are currently coaching,
they know they're not going to get another opportunity as
(01:04:32):
easily as it like we're all talking about Mike McCarthy
and all these coaches, like we we bring their names
up and it's it's like, it's that's if we're promoting
uh them as a coach versus Steve Wooks or Marvin
Lewis or Hugh Jackson or all these guys. Um And
(01:04:55):
for me, Todd Bowles, for me, it's I can understand
the frustration and how hard of an opportunity or how
hard it is to obtain that position, and then let
alone obtain it. Now you have to sustain that position.
And here you go ahead. Greg. Here's the other thing,
(01:05:15):
and Chris and I talked about this yesterday. The other
problem is, let's just face it, when black guys do
get coaching jobs in the NFL, they're the worst teams.
So they're already set up to fail. And then when
they do fail, Uh, it's it's hard to go get
another opportunity. I only know Tomlin got a great job,
right and Jim call Joseph and Jim and Jim Carwell,
(01:05:38):
and Jim Carwell took over for Tony Dungee. Those are
the only two. But look at if you look at
the guys who were fired, they were all on perennial
bad teams that that worked that haven't won with anybody.
Vas Joseph was Denver, that was a little different. I mean,
obviously that's a strong franchise, but I don't think when
he took over there, No, I don't think you can't
(01:05:59):
throw Van Joseph Vance Joseph in that category because if
you look at what he had to work with, right, Yeah, exactly,
they had a strong defense, but from a quarterbacking position
and offense, understanding what it takes to be successful in
this league. You gotta have a quarterback, and if your
front office don't get your quarterback right, you're going to struggle.
(01:06:22):
And that's that's the issue. Because Chris was saying that
he would love to see the Bengals give Hugh Jackson,
and I'm like, it would just be another one of those, uh,
give a black guy a bad team kind of situation
and then he gets fired. I want to see them
open it up and give guys some other opportunities, some
good teams. Yeah, it's the odd couple. Go ahead, Greg, No,
(01:06:47):
I'm gonna say, yeah, I just don't see that happening. Unfortunately,
it's the odd couple. We're joined by Super Bowl champion
Greg Jennings. Greg. Today in The Athletic they did a
poll of NFL players and asked it was a quarterback
pole and they asked them which quarterback would they least
like to play against in a big game, him saying
(01:07:10):
Tom Brady even though we know he's forty one years old.
Do you think that you agree with that? And what
type of chance do you give you know Brady this weekend. Look,
I would not want to play against Tom Brady. I'm
just being it's something about Tom Brady and this time
of year, and Rob, I nors your birthday and I
(01:07:32):
want to say everything day, but you and I know
in your heart of hearts you feel the same way.
You don't want to play Tom Brady this time of year.
I think I think if you're the charges, you do
want to play because it's not the same. Tom Brady's
not the guy who have over years covered up the makeup,
(01:07:53):
covered up the warts of of the of the Patriots,
and was was that guy. He's understand why the players
might have voted in them because they're still living in
the past. But this Tom Brady is not the Tom
Brady of even a year ago, Greg, when he won
the MVP and through for five hundred yards in the
Super Bowl. I mean, that's all I'm saying. He's not
(01:08:13):
that guy. I think people are kidding themselves, Rob, I
understand that, But I have to then ask myself, because
I've there are certain people you just don't doubt, and
I have to ask myself, can he be that guy?
Three times? Kenny three? And you're telling me he cannot.
(01:08:34):
I'm telling you no, not, not anymore. No. I don't
even want to. I don't even want to get risen
saying that full disclosure risement saying that since two thousands, No,
that's not true. It's not true. Teve bad Nah, go ahead,
Greg ahead. I just I just feel like it matter
(01:08:56):
a matter of I'm getting a hint of myself just
for one game? Can't you do that? And I think
with with his mentality, I think he's mentally strong enough
to overcome and to take his game to another level
for four quarters, one one game at a time. I
(01:09:17):
just believe I wouldn't pick anyone to do it other
than Tom. I honestly wouldn't. Greg. Here you go, this
is this is Tom Brady's season wrapped up in one placed. Greg, Greg,
let me ask you this Aaron Rodgers, Matt Lafluort. How
(01:09:39):
do you think Rogers is gonna respond to this young guy?
I mean, he's older than Aaron, but you know, even
by a couple of years, hasn't really done anything in
the league. You know, doesn't have nearly the stature that
Aaron does. How do you think that's gonna work out?
Or how is Aaron gonna treat him? Well, he's gonna
treat him like he's the head coach. But we saw
(01:10:00):
how he treated Mike McCarthy, so he's gonna challenge him.
He's just he's gonna respect him. That's just what you
do as a player. You respect who was put in
front of you. But you're going to challenge him. When
you're a great player, and we all can identify Aaron
as a great player, it's that's your job to challenge
(01:10:20):
those to push you beyond where you have already been.
And I think that's what's going to allow us to
see who La Florida really is and what he's really
made of. All Right, you heard it from the Super
Bowl champion Greg Jennings. Thanks once again man for joining us.
I'm taking the charger, all right, great birthday man. Thank you,
(01:10:42):
my man. I appreciate you really do. Thank you. All right, Greg,
we'll check you out later. Let's bring in Dab Carson
for what is trending? Dab Yeah, Hello, Well, the main
topic of trending tends to be the Bengals head coaching.
At gig Fox Sports Radios, Andy Furman reported early today
that the top choice by Cincinnati to be their next
(01:11:03):
head coaches Rams quarterbacks coach Zach Taylor. Multiple reports say
that Taylor will officially be offered the job once the
Rams complete their postseason run. Also a lot of trending
going on around the Steelers. Obviously, they had some goings
on with Antonio Brown, to say the least, as the
season came to an end. But the team president Are
Rooney the Second says all options are on the table
(01:11:25):
for Brown, including trading him, but they will not release him.
Rooney says. In fact, he says, right now, it's hard
to envision Brown being a stealer when twenty nineteen training
camp opens now. Thomas Davis, the linebacker, has been with
the Carolina Panthers for fourteen seasons. He announced on social
media today that the team has no interest in bringing
(01:11:45):
him back next season, so the unrestricted free agent is
indeed a free agent. Meanwhile, in NBA news, the Lakers
say Lebron James healing is progressing, but he will remain
out for at least three more games Friday at Utah,
Sunday against Cleveland and next Tuesday against Chicago. Baseball news
the Mets and infielder Jed Lowry have agreed to a
two year, twenty million dollar deal. Police in Las Vegas
(01:12:06):
have issued a warrant two authorities in Italy to try
to collect DNA of soccer star Christiano Ronaldo in connection
with a rape investigation that dates back to two thousand
and nine. And a big announcement from the Australian Open.
Andrew Murray just getting set to play that tournament, but
the British tennis great says he plans to retire in
twenty nineteen. He's been dealing with a lingering hip injury.
(01:12:27):
He's going to try to make it through this tournament
and he hopes to make this year's Wimbledon his final tournament. Meanwhile,
we'll be back to the odd couple in ten seconds.
But first, a word from farmers from a car landing

(01:14:14):
It's a TV theme song Thursday. This is Chris's favorite show,
one of them. This is I love I love this.
I don't know why. I just love this show. I
can watch I can see a rerun seven times and
I still be laughing. No, but shows that are well written,
Chris like that, you can do that. I mean, I've
(01:14:36):
been watching some reruns for twenty years and you know
where the joke is coming. You've seen it a million
and you still love there. I I really love King
of Queens, all right. It's the eye couple of Chris
and Roby has something real, crazy real Chris. I thought
at one time that newsday, you know, like underneath the
(01:14:56):
newspaper it'll have like a slogan of what your newspapers
should be like called it like New York Times, all
the news that fix, the daily News, new York's hometown paper. Right.
I always thought Newsday when they had the Queen and
Queen's edition, should have should have put underneath the Newsday,
should have said newspaper, newspaper, King of Queens, newspaper, King
(01:15:19):
of Queens. That could have worked. That's not bad. Right, Nah,
that's not bad. That's not bad. Thank you give him
a rim shop for that? All right, all right, all right,
it's time for shop talking. Nobody ain't not bop you
know that. Ain't nobody you wore talking about? Whoever it whatever,
(01:15:40):
whatever you want to it's shop talk, Yes, sir, this
shop talk here in the Oard Couple. Fox Sports Radio.
We do this every single Thursday at eight forty five
pm Eastern, where we take a second to take a
look outside of the world of sports. Could we all
have outside interests? And going into today's show, we had
a topic all lined up ready to roll, and then
we had breaking news during one of our commercial breaks
(01:16:04):
involving Rob Parker. Mister double Nickel himself found out that
his ex wife has been following him on the sneak
on social media. We don't know how long. It just
seems a little bit creepy. I guess it from what
Rob was saying. So let's just get your thoughts on this.
What are your thoughts on having an ex either a spouse, girlfriend, boyfriend,
(01:16:25):
maybe someone you had it and fling with ghosting you
and following you on social media? Well, Rob, how do
you feel about it? You know what it was? I
had no idea it really was. It was during one
of the breaks and I said to Rob and Alex
and um, like, like, I won't follow her back because
(01:16:46):
I just you know, we've been divorced for a while.
How long have you been fifteen years? And you haven't talked,
like you know, there's no communication or anything. No, I
mean not now, but we I mean we've talked. I
don't have anything against her at all, but but this
is my only thing. Uh Like, I just wouldn't like
(01:17:06):
to me if you if I follow her or whatever,
you know what I mean, you send out like a
signal that that maybe there's something else going on. And
I just that's the part that I wouldn't do. Nah,
what about you? But you know people talk about this
and you hear pastors, uh tell congregants don't like you know,
you you on a Facebook or social media where you
(01:17:27):
can reconnect with all these old fleets, right, you know,
and and it's not a good idea. You know. Look,
I've been married twenty three years, but um, I've seen
in the past some of my ex girlfriends before I
got married. And there was a time once I really
wanted to see an old girlfriend. Not for anything, you know,
anything untoward or anything wrong, you know, but I just
(01:17:50):
wouldn't would have liked to have seen her. I was
gonna be in the town where she lived. Oh um,
you know, but just to catch up, like, hey, how
you doing. You know what you're up to now? That
all that stuff all above board. But then I said,
you know what, I'm not going to do it because,
you know, barriers have been broken in our relationship. I
(01:18:11):
kind of feel like anybody you've been intimate with in
the past, it's easier to be intimate with that person
in the future because those barriers have already been broken.
And I was like, you know, I wasn't even thinking
that way, like oh I want to get with her.
It was nothing like that. But I was like, you know,
what if we if I see her and we're having
a good time, we're talking, having fun, having lunch, whatever.
(01:18:33):
I don't know. I was just like, it would have
been too easy to feel that way. And I don't
know if she would have felt that way or not,
but I was like, I don't even want to be
in that position where you know, it's it's not like
if you go out to if I go out with
another woman, there's no thought of that, you know, because
I'm married, she's whatever she is, and we haven't been intimate.
(01:18:57):
But when you've been that way, that barrier has been broken,
and I think it just be easier for something to happen.
That's my feeling. A deb jumping on this, and I
would say, like, I wouldn't block my ex wife from
if she wants to follow me up. Really wouldn't because
I don't have any ill will. It's just that I
wouldn't follow her. Do you understand what I do? I
agree with that now. It would be a little odd
(01:19:17):
if she was following you if you had a really
contentious breakup. But a you're a public figure, right she
is not. I'm presuming I don't know who she is, right,
But but just because you are not together doesn't mean
that you can't be acquaintances. So if she follows you,
I get it right. But if you are involved with
somebody else and for instance, you're following her back, I
see Chris's point. If your significant other then says I'm
(01:19:41):
not comfortable with this, then you cut it off in
all ways with the with the X. But I don't
think it's odd that she's following you. Nope. Now you're right,
and I think that's fair. And that's why, like, I
wouldn't think of doing anything else like blocking her, or
there's no reason to do that. We didn't and we
didn't have a contentious, you know, break up, and we
(01:20:01):
just broke up, and I like her a lot some
people you saying something's uh important that because a lot
of spouses or even just people dating, if one of
the parties doesn't want you, you know, interacting with some
of your old things, A lot of people get offended
by that, like what's she tripping? You know? And but
(01:20:21):
I can look if your spouse really doesn't want it,
and they're really I mean, I'm not saying they're overboarding
and paranoid, but I'm just saying if they really aren't
comfortable with it, then I think you should respect your
spouse's wishes on something like no doubt absolutely, Rob g
jump in and Alex, I want to get you guys
in as well. What do you think, Well, I'm petty,
(01:20:43):
so at least you know you're petty though, but you
know you're petty. It's good to know you area. We
were waiting for you to say, and so we knew
it when you became the producer of this shot. Whispers.
I don't. I don't follow any of my exes or
any you know, lines or anything like that. But I
also don't block them either, so that just they know
how while I'm doing now, like, I enjoy people saying like,
(01:21:07):
oh man, you weren't at Fox, you were with the
christ and Robin all this stuff. You have a dog
and a house and a wife. I'm like, yeah, I do.
So you can just keep looking at it. I'm gonna
follow you back, but you're more than welcome to peruse
my page as much as possible. So I like that, Alex.
This is tough now because with social media, you have
so many outlets of interaction with people that are in
your life or have been in your life. But I
(01:21:28):
think it comes down to like your self confidence and
the restraint you have within your own self. That I
have no personal issue with any of my exes or
people I've been with, and I don't think it should
be an issue. Honestly. I think if you had the
intimacy with them before, like Chris said, but you went
out of your way to find something you liked them,
I don't see why it has to be gone. You
could still be friends and have that cadence with each other.
But I think it comes to the self respect you
(01:21:49):
have for your other and appreciation in your significant other,
that you should have that trust in each other. So
it shouldn't really be an issue. In my opinion, I
think it should be cool. I think, Alex, we're gonna
give you a new nickname, DJ fill. So yes, you
just sound like a philosopher. He's well thrown out and
he thinks and he's very caring. So when when you
put all that together, he's always thinking about other people.
(01:22:10):
I'm serious, Alex, more than it than yourself. But that's
why he's trying to get all of us to be vegans.
Because I love you guys. Come on, now, I don't
like Alex. Why no, that's only because he's trying to
save the animal population. I mean, I told you if
they were going to college and getting married and all that,
(01:22:31):
then it would be a different story. You talking about animals,
all right, All they do is walk around. They don't
even know what's going on. They don't even know they're
living in California. They don't know where they are idea,
they don't pay taxes or anything that All right, it's

fifth birthday. That's right, and I will I'm I'm I'm
dead serious here when I say that Rob is a
young fifty five, it really is. He's in good shape.
(01:23:39):
He you know, he's he wears he's got all types
of Jordan's sneakers that he's wearing, wearing skinny jeans. You
do wear skinny j not not not totally right, but
you know, yeah, you're skinny. G You know, I'm saying
that as a comment, like you count state current. I
got my Ye's on today, I'm wearing my The newest
(01:24:01):
yeezis the three fifty Boost three fifties. That's how I
got comfortable. They look mad comfortable. They are so comfortable.
And you know what, I never had a pair of
Yeas as my first and you know, I'm mostly into Jordan's.
But I was like, you know, I've seen the lines
form and people going crazy or whatever. So I said,
(01:24:22):
every one, you know, you gotta treat yourself, Chris. I
always say that. So every year I buy myself a
birthday gift. And that was my gift to a birthday gift. Yeah,
and you you even a lot of people be surprised
by this. You wear lebrons too, Yes, I have a
couple of them. I I'm surprised. I don't hate falling
out as soon as you put them on. Your feet.
(01:24:42):
You just fall out. Yeah. No, Usually usually when I
missed him, I shoot sixty eight percent from the free
throw line. Man, I'm never gonna get too much in
that kawhie. I know, hey, I I'll ever hear that too.
You cannot play that enough. I'm with Chris. I don't
(01:25:05):
care what anybody says, enough with to get know every chance.
That's our laugh. That is hilarious. All right, it is
the Eye Couple. Our number three. We've talked about Kyler Murray.
We will have Jay Rude, who's the MGMs resourts vice
president of Race and Sports and the co host of
Behind the Book. Now he's gonna talk to us about
(01:25:27):
gambling and all of that. You gotta get ready. You
want to check that out because some of you will
be putting money on the games this weekend, so you
definitely want to stay too for the Jay Rude interview
at the bottom of the hour. But let's get back
to our story of the day, and that's involved in
Tom Brady, the athletic pole NFL players, But about a
(01:25:50):
number of things. They did a quarterback poll, so who's
the most overrated, who's the most underrated? All types of things,
and the first question that they asked was which quarterback
would you least least like to face in a big game?
And guess who won? Going away? Tom Brady could do that.
(01:26:10):
Tom Brady could do that. Tom Brady did that. Fifty
two percent of the NFL players. That's huge. Fifty two
percent said he is the quarterback they would least like
to face in a big game. And considering that we've
got a big game this weekend with the Patriots, I
think that speaks volumes. Aaron Rodgers was the runner up
(01:26:33):
at thirty two percent. Drew Brees Pat Mahomes also received votes.
But Rob, wait a minute, you left off a piece
of the question, and this is the way the problem
comes in. The question was which quarterback would you least
like to face if he had your defensive signals. I
(01:26:54):
was just gonna say, since it's your birthday, we would
have gave you a rim shot. But nah, we can't
do it, not even my birthday. That's all right. I
knew a joke was coming. I wanted to say trigger alert,
but here we go. I'm gonna I'm gonna stop you
before you get on your high horse and talking about
how many times have you said, Eric Dickerson says that
Eric Rodgers is the best quarterback he's ever seen. I mean,
(01:27:16):
you you always want to say the players you go
to them for to buttress your point. I don't know
if I use that current I know, what was that?
Look that up? Rob Gi? Did I use it correctly
to bolster your point? Buttress? Look up? Butchers watch? I
may I may have lucked into it and used that.
I think what what was that? I don't know, But anyway,
(01:27:40):
you know, always backing up your points with Eric Dickerson
or some other players said this or that. Fifty two
of the league. Rob is saying that they wouldn't want
to face Tom Brady even at his age. Yeah, but
the problem is still living in the past, still looking
at the Tom Brady who did last year. No, he
(01:28:01):
didn't win last year, he didn't rain. Did watch to
the Super Bowl? Did they watch this year? That's not
the same tom Brady from a year ago. It's not
tom Brady's not that guy anymore. People are just doing it,
you know what they want to do. They just want
They're afraid to stand out there and say no, Tom
Brady's not that guy anymore. They're afraid to do that
(01:28:25):
because they're like, well, I'll rather play it safety and sorry,
the safe thing is to praise Tom Brady live in
the past, talk about the championships he won in the past,
and then uh, just to cover themselves. And then when
Tom Brady loses, they'll go, well, what do you expect,
He's forty one years old, and they use that as
the excuse of of why Tom Brady has faltered. Just
(01:28:48):
look at what's currently going on. We're not talking about
the past. We're not talking about the Cowboys who had
won two Super Bowls, two playoff games since nineteen ninety five.
They won the other day. We're talking about Tom Brady,
who's not as good as he was just a year ago,
but when he was forty years old good. He's not
that good. You act like he's completely falling off the cliff.
(01:29:12):
I'll give you that. He's not quite what he was
last year, but he's still very good. He's still statistically
had a season comparable, if not better than Aaron Rodgers,
who's very much in the middle of his prime. Ask Houston,
who knew England beat as Indianapolis, who knew England beat
as Kansas City, who knew England beat as Chicago. Who
(01:29:36):
knew England beat Green Bay Minnesota? I mean, why where
does this narrative that Brady's had a horrible season coming from?
Look at his numbers. All of his numbers are down,
and they're down going back. Brady's a numbers. Some of
them date back to the worst numbers he's had since
twenty thirteen, since twenty fifteen to twenty fourteen. It's all
(01:29:59):
the numbers are down numbers. Most of his numbers he's
lost better than most than No I'm talking about Super
Bowl when I'm talking about based on Tom Brady. He
used to be able to cover up any warts that
the Patriots have their warts everywhere. They looked like the
wicked Witch of the West with the warts. Tom Brady's
not makeup this year. He can't. He can't even throw
(01:30:22):
a ball out of bounds when he wants one player
primy times he's gonna say that, that's like the one
hundred and seventy first time I've heard you reference that throw.
You know many times you referencing this, you know many
times to do as referencing this. His passer rating was
higher than Aaron Rodgers. We're not talking about Aaron Rodgers. Rogers,
(01:30:44):
we're not talking about him. It's just a measuring stick. No,
that's what we're talking about stick because most people still
view him as the best passer in the game, including you.
His completion percentage was better than Aaron Rodgers. How bad
could he be if he's out dueling Aaron Rodgers. Here
we go. You ready for this worst ten years by
(01:31:06):
Tom Brady. Yes, it's the worst throwing ten years. He
can't even throw the ball out of bounds. Gronk got
two passes, no three passes this year in the red zone.
Because you used to feast on Gronk, Dunk has fallen
off a lot more than Tom Brady. They run the
ball more, you know why, because Brady can't do the
same things. Hows how they beat Chicago, how they beat Kansas?
(01:31:32):
Have you watched the end of the year with them?
They're running the football more more, but not exclusively. They
still Brady is still the straw that stirs the drink.
And you know it, No, I think he's You just
can't give You're gonna die with this this narrative, just
like you have the last seven years. You've been saying
(01:31:53):
this since two thousand he left. No what happened? Every
year you die on the time Brady Mountain trying to
kill him. I didn't. He's washed up saying he's done.
I didn't die. Last year at the end of the game.
You know what happened. Tom Brady was to go go
O eight when he fumbled away the ball. On that
(01:32:13):
fumble sack, tom Brady cost the Patriots the Super Bowl.
Tom Brady missed the pass. Last year. Tom Brady couldn't
do that. Tom Brady can't do that anymore. That's the point.
Everybody's living in the past on Tom Brady. The players
have spoken. They know what They know what it's like
to game plan for Tom Brady. They know what it's
(01:32:35):
like to stare in his eyes across the other side
of the field. They know what it's like to have
a lead in the fourth quarter and you've given that
guy too much time left on the clock. They know
what it's like to have a bunch of receivers that
are run four eight forty yard dashes and you know
they can't match you athletically, and he somehow they get
(01:32:58):
open and he picks you apart. The players have spoken.
Rod Parker, just go with it. Just go with it.
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. It's your turn
the way in. I know, look, it's Rob's birthday, so
(01:33:20):
take it easy on him. But I know you guys
want to go at his neck because to say Tom
Brady is washed up and done and has no chance,
no chance to win the AFC and get to the
Super I'm talking about the fear factor. How could you
fear Tom Brady? Now year's gone by, maybe, but now
(01:33:41):
after watching, after watching Tom Brady play, I'm talking about
Tom Brady. He's not the same guy. Five They were eleven.
If you're acting like they barely snuck in the playoffs
with a nine and seven records, they were. They lost
more games on the road than they had in since
two thousand and two orso. Guess what this game this weekend?
(01:34:03):
Where's it at? It's in Foxborough, baby. I don't want
to hear about the road right now. Oh yeah, it
is not the same Tom Brady. We'll see. Come. What
is that Sunday? Sunday at one o'clock eastern? All right,
it's your turn away in eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox eight seven, seven, nine, nine, six, sixty three,
(01:34:24):
sixty nine. Where the players right, it's Tom Brady, the
guy you'd least like to face in a big game.
Or is he washed up? Like Rob Parker says. It's

Eye Couple coming to you Chris Brussard, Rob Parker on
this TV theme show Thursday. Of course, that's cheers, one
of the all time great ones. Yes, definitely, definitely, and
we're all cheers here on the Ide Couple because we're
celebrating the fifty fifth birthday of my partner and great
(01:35:32):
friend Roy Parker. Thank you, Chris, appreciate it really and uh,
I don't know, I just that number to me is
just like you know, and I don't feel like I'm
an old guy. But it's just like you know, when
somebody said you're fifty five, what I thought of somebody
being fifty five? I just don't see myself. Do you
(01:35:54):
know what I'm saying? Oh, of course you know what
I mean. We'll just do feel the new I say, fifties,
the new thirty five, fifty five is what the new forty.
It must be because that's what I feel like. I
feel good and and enjoying it. But thanks for all
the kind words. And like I said, people have been
real nice to me on social media today knowing that
(01:36:18):
it is my birthday. Well, I almost I thought about
buying you a car. I knew car. Well, what I
found was that car shopping getting after they crashed my
car to dealer after the crush, Right, what I found
was that car shop and can be confusing, rob There
were terms like dealer, price list, price invoice. But true
(01:36:38):
car shows you what other people pay for the car
you want. That's what you really need to do. Look
at truecr because they then you'll be able to recognize
what's a good price and what's a bad price when
you're ready to buy a new or even a use car.
If I ever decide to get you a car, Rob Parker,
I'm gonna visit True Car and enjoy a more confident
car buying experiences. All right, we talked about it, Tom Brady.
(01:37:02):
Where the players? Right? Do you agree with them? More
than half of the players in the league say that
he is the man they do not want to face
in a big game. It's your turn the way in
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven, seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. All right, Chris,
let's start with Gabe in Minneapolis. You're on the odd
(01:37:23):
couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Gabe? Hey, guys,
Happy birthday, Rob, Thank you so much. Yeah. Yeah, But
I gotta tell you, right, I've bet a Tom Brady
fan for a long time, and your litmus test here
is this is the first year that Brady is this
is the first bad year that Brady has had. And
(01:37:44):
the bad compared to other quarterbacks. Uh, you know, Judge
did on Brady is not that bag like it's pretty good? Um,
did you say this about Peyton Manning the last year?
I would suppose you you just destroyed Manning. That whole year,
Payton Manning was all us. He was awful, he'd better
actually lost his starting quarterback job at one point, and
then in the in the Super Bowl he had ninety
(01:38:05):
I think was it ninety one yards Chris something like that.
He was awful this year. All I'm saying is he's
not the same guy as a year ago. Gabe, would
you admit that he's not the same guy. He has struggled,
and I've been surprised at some of those throwers, but
he's still I would not want to see him in
(01:38:25):
the playoffs if I'm any other teams. All right, thanks
for the question. Is how much he's declined, Rob There's
I don't think anybody denies except him, probably that he's
declined some. But I just don't think it's significant enough
to totally wipe out their chances in the playoffs. Well,
if you lose one game, that totally wiped out. So
that's what I'm getting the Chargers beating them. So that's
(01:38:47):
why I think that they'll get wiped out. And I
think that Brady's not all the way that guy anymore
could cover up the mistakes and the wards. Derek and Sacramento.
It is the odd couple on Fox Sports Radio. What
you got, Eric? Man, you guys have me worried when
I first to it in I thought pulled up a
table to uh or pulled up a chair to the
(01:39:07):
table where they're parts were fighting. Man, thank you very
much to say, Derek, you know what, me and Chris
get into it. But it's all right, man, it's all cool,
it's all love. Have me worried? So I don't fermoset
down where you're acting. I'm gonna drop a hot take
on you, all right, all right, let's do it. Okay,
(01:39:29):
Brady is the best mediocre quarterback in NFL. Oh, that's
a hot take. So I'm wearing I'm I'm I'm gonna
put my hands together because I'm warned up from that.
How many theocre quarterbacks through for fifty touchdowns in the season?
All right, hear me out, hear me out. Now, Breeze
(01:39:50):
ten times better arm talent Manny ten times smarter, Rogers,
ten times more skilled in athletics. Now, the Patriot legacy
that we all bowed out to, that's all. Hung a
Nytaris cleats, that's all. That's all. Adam Vaneterie. That's all him.
So get pray. You know, you know that when you
(01:40:15):
watch the Tom Brady highlight video, Adam vent TERI has
thirty minutes in it, and how many, how many, how
many quarterbacks have been more athletic and had a stronger
arm than Joe Montana. And to say that Brady's not
a smart quarterback, come on, bront I'm not saying that
he's not smart times smarter, No, right, I disagree, I disagree.
(01:40:39):
But this is the last thing I want to drop
on you guys, is as far as might take him
being mediocre and the best mediocre quarterback is he's good
for what he does. But really, what it boils down
to is the opposing team at half seen. You know what,
I'm getting a little nervous. I don't know if I
want to call these places for two more quarters. I'm
(01:41:00):
just gonna ease up over. It's the opposing team falling
down to the myths of the Patriots or some squad
that Derek you one hundred percent right, That's why he's
the lot the luckiest of all time. Rick, that guy,
what do you say Brady's the best mediocre quarterback in
the history of the NFL. I think that's your long
(01:41:21):
lost son that you maybe. I mean, come on, what
maybe I had him one hour thirty. So he's twenty
five now, right, is right? I guess Larry Bird is
the best mediocre basketball player of all time because a
lot of guys women basting in him. You left out white,
left out mediocre white basketball. Oh my gosh. Please? All right?
(01:41:42):
What about Scott in Kansas? You're on the odd couple?
Fox Sports Radio? What's up Scott? Even? Guys? Happy birthday
out there, everybody? Thank you. A couple of little points
I'd like to make here. First of all, you said you, well,
he out played Aaron Rodgers. Well this you're everybody outplayed
Aaron Rodgers. Look where Aaron sitting right now? I know
I'm just saying, like, are we saying Aaron Rodgers is
(01:42:04):
done because he had a worst year? Or Aaron Rodgers
is way younger than Tom Brady. Stop it. He's thirty five,
rob Yeah, but in football years, he's only thirty one.
Because he set those four years, that doesn't mean anything.
Number two, the Patriot Office made Nat Castle look good.
That's right, that big year, that's right, he won that
(01:42:25):
one eleven game decent year. Did they make the playoffs? No,
they didn't make the playoffs. They won eleven game, but
then make the playoffs. That's tom Brady. What does he
missed the playoffs once in his career as a starter. Yeah,
all right, he plays, he plays in the AFC least
go ahead, go ahead. I'm just shooting down his points.
Is he done a Scott Brady couldn't do that? No,
(01:42:46):
Tom Brady can't. I hate that. Can we get what about?
Here's Tom Brady's highlight highlight reel of the season worst
s throwing ten years by Tom Brady. Here you go,
thank you? You know I love that. David and Minneapolis,
you're on the eye couple. Good gone, Robs gone the
happy birthday, Thank you buddy. Yeah for sure. So, um,
(01:43:10):
I think I'm gonna have to side with Chris on this.
I think it's I think it's absolutely ridiculous to bet
on a five time on a four time Super Bowl winner.
He's been there six times. He knows what he's doing
in the playoffs. No matter what, you still at him
any defense, they still at him in the third quarter,
(01:43:31):
no matter what, He's gonna know what you're doing. And
he's gonna win him back every single time. Yes, his
arm strength went down. Yes, this year was the worse
year than he ever had, But he's got a genius
of offensive coordinator and Josh McDaniels helping him out, and
there's just, you know, there's just there's no reason to
bet against the best, probably the best, most winning quarterback
(01:43:53):
of all time. Except actually under saw him roll half
four Super Bowl wins and six appearances when it's actually
five and eight. Yeah. Yeah, he gave him a little
bit too. What was that? Oh? He undersold him. He
undersold him. Even Kawhi thought that was funny. Hey, Jeremy
(01:44:16):
and Jacksonville. You're on the yad couple of Fox Sports Radio. Jeremy,
what's up? Thank you guys going happy birthday? Thank you
so much. Jeremy appreciated, buddy. Hey, um, I just want
to I want to know if when they did this poll,
if they asked Tom Brady who he would at least
like the face, and if he said it was Eli Foles,
(01:44:37):
that's right. Here you go, we go. Very nice, Jeremy,
you raid somebody that ribbed just text? I didn't him
drowning up. I didn't check je Jemmy and Jacksonville Jeremy.
Tom Brady wouldn't be tom Brady without the health of
a phantom. Not a fumble called. That was a fumble.
You already know he fumbled against the Raiders and they
(01:44:59):
took the ball from them. Hey, let me let me
let me share this since you brought that team up.
They also asked players who's the most overrated quarterback? Guess
who the was Kirk Cousins, which is understandable. Guess who
was runner up? Rob tom Brady one of your favorites?
Eli Manning. No, I get it from the regular season.
(01:45:19):
I get that. I can see where people say that.
But I bet you if you asked him, if you
were playing in the Super Bowl, who you wanted your quarterback?
Eli Manning has put up unbelievable wouldn't be above Eli.
Go look at his numbers, Chris in the postseason player
the Super Bowl games, he was tremendous games. He was
great no both of the both of the runs. If
(01:45:41):
you go look at his numbers, he was good those
two play Super Bowl runs. But the Super Bowl games
were unbelievable. When he beat tom Brady twice, he beat
the eighteen and old Patriots. Why don't with Randy Moss
people don't give him credit for that, No, they do.
That's why he's probably gonna get into the Hall of Fame.
He is gonna get in the Hall of Fame because
just because of those two wins. All Right, the Eye
(01:46:02):
couple wants to help you make some money this weekend.
So Ja Ru from the MGM Resorts in Vegas will
show you how next. But first let's bring in Dab
Carson for the latest in sports deb alrighty, guys. NBA
action currently underway in Denver. The Nuggets already out to
a twenty eight eighteen lead over the Clippers two thirty
six to go in the first quarter. The heat end
(01:46:24):
in Boston's four game win Street miambib The Celtics one
fifteen ninety nine also have college hoops action currently underway.
Midway through the second half. Michigan, the number two ranked
team in the country, leads at Illinois fifty five forty six.
Big story that they in the NFL. It appears that
the final head coaching vacancy will soon be filled. Bengal's
(01:46:46):
top choice to be their next head coaches rams quarterbacks
coach Zach Taylor. According to Fox Sports Radio's Andy Furman,
as well as the multiple reports, including ESPN That's say
Taylor will officially be offered the job once the Rams
complete their post season run. While Pittsburgh Post Gazette broke
the news earlier today that Steelers president Aren't Runey, the
Second says all options are on the table for receiver
(01:47:08):
Antonio Brown except releasing him. Runey says right now, it's
hard to envision Brown being a stealer when twenty nineteen's
training camp opens. In Thursday's Discover Card key matchup on
the ice, the Washington Capitols visit the Boston Bruins. That
game now late in the third period and the Capitols
lead the Bruins three to two, seven minutes to go
(01:47:29):
in the game. Mets and infielder Jed Lowry agreed to
a two year, twenty eight million dollar contract. Brian Dozier
and the Nationals have come to terms on a one
year deal worth nine million bucks. And British Tennis grade
Andy Murray says he plans to retire in twenty nineteen.
He's been dealing with a lingering hip injury. He's getting
set to take on the Australian Open, and he's hoping
(01:47:50):
that he can stay healthy enough to finish up his
career at Wimbledon. Guys, we'll be back to the odd
Couple in ten seconds. But first a word from Farmers.

the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. It's easy to say
fifteen percent or more on your car insurance with Geico.
Go to gecode dot com or call eight hundred nine

which way is easier. We're gonna bring in Jay Rude.
(01:48:33):
He's the MGM Resorts Vice President of Racing Sports out
there in Vegas, co host of Behind the Book. Jay,
we want to make our listeners some money, so we
thought you were the perfect guy to bring in to
the Odd Couple. Yeah. Well, I'll try. I'll give him
some insight. That's what we need, no doubt about it. Well,
(01:48:53):
look here, here are the latest odds that we've seen
on bet online. The Rams are favorite. They're giving seven
seven points, Dallas is getting seven points. Kansas City's favorite
over Indianapolis, the Culture getting five points. New England's favorite
over the Chargers. Chargers are getting four points, and New
(01:49:14):
Orleans is favorite over New England. Sorry Delphia, which is
getting eight points. Which of these which game has the
better's most split? I think the game that's gonna split
in the most betters is probably gonna be the Colts
in the Chiefs right now. Um, we're at five and
a half on that game, a total of fifty seven,
(01:49:36):
so a high scoring game anticipated. It's the highest total
of the weekend. Um, I think a lot of people
are starting to get on the Frank Wright Colts bandwagon here. Um,
they kind of look like they've got a little bit
of the Philadelphia Eagles from last year in them. So
(01:49:56):
eleven right, I mean they're the hottest team in the NFL.
Yeah yeah, So you know, uh, you know, you can't
argue with what the Chiefs did this year, and um,
but I think a lot of people are a little
bit tempered on the Chiefs because, um, you know, if
Andy Reid's postseason record is not so stellar. So, um,
I think we're gonna see some some pretty strong cold
(01:50:17):
money come in. But you know, there's there's a lot
of support for the Chiefs as well. So that's gonna
be a game where I think we get a pretty
good split. You'd being nice when you say, uh, Andy
reads It's postseason record is horrible. When we go to
the Cowboys Rams game, uh, you know, people go, wow,
the Cowboys, you know, they won the East NFC East
(01:50:39):
and they want they beat Seattle. How could they be
seven point und adults? But this is a different team
on the road and the Rams won thirteen games. Is
that why the Rams got such a big advantage. Yeah,
I mean, um, you know, high high scoring potential Rams,
uh is is you know, has a strong power power
number on them. The Cowboys, Um, you know their defense
(01:51:03):
is probably you know, their best unit, and um it's
done you know pretty well, but it's uh, you know,
it's pretty spotty a little bit. So I think you
know this number being seven is is uh probably a
game you know, if if I was, uh, you know,
having to bet the slate of games this weekend. I
always say that the better has the advantage a lot
(01:51:24):
of times because they have the ability to select, you know,
the games that they want to play on. They get
to cherry pick what they want to play on. I
have to book every game, so I have to put
a number up out there, and I think this is
a game that I would almost stay away from just
because you know, seven, it's such a such a tough number. Generally,
you know what you want to look for in the
playoff games. Um, you know only about twenty five percent
(01:51:45):
at the time that the actual spread comes into play, uh,
in playoff actions. But uh, you know when you start
talking about seven or more, um, you know, it really
is something you know, tougher to handicap because you know,
in generally, you just want to pick the team that
you think are gonna win in and the spreads should
handle itself from that point forward. And like, if you
like the Colts and you think that Colts are gonna win,
(01:52:06):
obviously you like the points in this particular game. I mean,
if you if you like the Cowboys, I mean I
think you pretty much have to think that they're going
to win the game for them to play this tight,
I think, Jay, it's supposed to supposed to rain this
weekend in Los Angeles. Do you think that would favorite
Dallas since they prefer to run the ball anyway? Well, yeah,
(01:52:29):
I mean I was worried about that for both sides
of the ball here because you know, Gurley is is
He's had some issues with the footing there in the
coliseum over the season. You know, I think they showed it.
They had a little bit of a problem when they
played the Chiefs there. Um, so that is a big concern. Um.
(01:52:50):
You know. The total is forty nine and a half,
which is about two and a half points above the
uh the scoring average for the year for the regular season,
which was way up this year over last year. And
generally when you have a bad track, it favors the
offense a little bit because when you're reacting on a
(01:53:12):
bad track, if you tend to have tougher tougher time.
So if I was gonna look at anything, I would
think that it probably favors an overplay here a bit.
How about everybody, you know, everybody's in love with Tom
Brady and the Patriots, but it's not the same Tom Brady,
not the same Patriots and the Chargers have been road warriors.
(01:53:34):
They won every road game this year that they had
to get on the plane. The only game that they
lost was when they played the Rams here in Los Angeles.
Obviously two LA teams, so I don't really consider that
a road loss. But anyway, what about the Chargers upsetting
the Patriots. They're getting four and a half points. Yeah,
you know, I think we're gonna see a lot of
(01:53:55):
bias in Las Vegas on this. I think we're gonna
see Charger money come in, just you know, because of
our proximity to the Charger fans. Um. I do think
this is going to be what we call pros versus
Joe's situation. I think the pros, uh, you know, professional
handicappers are going to be lining up on the Patriots here. Um,
with the Patriots coming in as they normally do off
(01:54:17):
of a bye, um, with a you know, probably a
fairly solid game plan. Um. Yeah, you know, everyone wants
to everyone wants to to get the casket ready for
Belichick and Brady uh and and in their in their run.
But um, I think it's gonna there's gonna be a
difficult task for the Chargers to to continue their streak. Um,
but I do think we'll get a lot of public
(01:54:39):
money on the Chargers, but we'll probably get in the
more sizeable pro bets on the Patriots. It's the eye couple.
We're joined by Jay Rude MGM, resorts, vice president of
Race and Sports and the co host of Behind the Book.
He's given you knowledge for your betting this weekend. H Jay,
the Saints beat the Eagles by forty earlier to see,
(01:55:00):
but everybody seems to be falling in love with Nick Foles.
Are you seeing that play out in the betting window? Um? Yeah,
you know we especially since we expanded this summer. You know,
we've got sports betting in New Jersey at our property, Borgata,
and uh, we definitely see bias regional biased on the Eagles. Um.
A lot of people are you know this is going
(01:55:21):
to be their first opportunity to to bet, you know,
NFL playoffs football in a in a regulated environment. So um,
we are seeing a lot of Eagle money. Um. We
took a pretty significant six figure wager the Monday after
the matchup was made UM on the Eagles money line
at plus three twenty I think it was so Um,
(01:55:44):
there's a there's a lot of support out there for
the Eagles, UM and the Saints though the Saints just
they kind of look like a machine. Um. You know,
every it seems like every team has sort of like
an Achilles heal that in the in the playoffs here,
some sort of flaw um. And I think the one
team that probably covers it up the best is the Saints.
(01:56:05):
So I think we're gonna see a lot of people
trying to hope that the Eagles do what they did
last year. And you know, this game is gonna be
this game is gonna be a significant decision for us
as well. I mean it's gonna be the last game played.
All the parlies and everything, you're gonna be rolling into
this teasers. So I think a lot of people are
(01:56:27):
going to be looking to get the Eagles there. Plus
eight and a half is a hard, hard number to
pass up, especially in you know, playoff football, but it
is a high total of fifty one, so expecting a
lot of points to be scored here. I think you know,
we're gonna probably be rooting for the Eagles as as
a house side in this particular game. Hey, Jay, we
got twenty thirty seconds. Give me the biggest upset of
(01:56:50):
the weekend. Biggest upset of the weekend, I think probably
gonna be I think Cowboys could get there against the Rams.
All right, I'm gonna go with the Chargers in uh
in New England. I'm not buying that. I'm with you, Jay.
You drop plenty of wisdom on this show. Excellent stuff
New England. The pros go with New England. I mean
(01:57:12):
that was music to my ears. Yeah, I think the
most I think the most entertaining game to watch probably
is gonna be the Colts in the Chiefs. Though no
I agree with that. That's gonna be something should be. Yeah.
All right, all right, Jay, great stuff, man, We'll have
you on again. Enjoy the games this weekend. All right,
appreciate it, you guys. Good luck to everybody. Thank you,
Thank you. More of the Eye Couple coming up, keeping
(01:57:33):
Locked on Fox Sports Radio. It's the Odd couple of
Chris Bruce Ord and Rod Parker about to wrap up
another show with the fresh Prince of bel Air on
this TV theme show Thursday. And when you're shopping for
car insurance, consider this Geico has been saving people money
(01:57:56):
on car insurance for over seventy five years. So if
you're serious about savings, it's simple, go to Geco dot com.
After seventy five years, they know how to save you money.
We're gonna finish off the show with you guys eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine
six sixty three sixty nine. And hear what you got
(01:58:18):
to say. That's why you ready, Chris. Let's do it.
Brian and long Beach, you're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Brian's going great? Good you Rob.
Every birthday they hope you can have them any more.
They appreciate that, Brian, Thank you so much. Hey, Chris,
so I have to disagree with you. I think uh
(01:58:39):
Rady's falling off the cliff. You know you. You're making
it a point to compare his numbers to Aaron Rodgers.
Let me tell you this, his numbers are near identical
to Eli Manning. Everyone's calling for Eli Manning's head, but
nobody's calling for for Brady's because they're living in the past.
Just like Robin said, right of the fact that everything
(01:59:00):
he's done well, we've seen man went to Super Bowls, right, Yeah,
but look, track record does have something to do No,
I mean, Jay got you, Chris, No, No track record
has something to do with it. He just I'm not
denying that. I mean, if Eli had the track record
of Tom Brady, Yeah, people will be giving him the
(01:59:22):
benefit of down. He loves be honest, Let's be honest, Rob,
he loves a better years ago people did give Eli
the benefit of the doubt. Oh you know, that's why
the Giants brought him back. But he but he fans
got mad Win ownership bench team. ELI has a better
winning percentage than Tom Brady. Eli is a thousand percent
and Brady's won What the only person on planet Earth
(01:59:44):
that would put Eli in the same sing Brady worst?
This is the worst? Throw? Is this? Uh? Tory Tory
in Columbus, Georgia. You're the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
What's up, Tory? What's going on? Fella's Happy birthday? Rock?
Thank you so much, appreciate it. Yeah, man, but I
(02:00:06):
gotta tell you down a little bit though, Chris, for real,
take me down. Yeah. I got to go ahead right
a certain degree, to a certain degree, rot right. But
you're right, also, Chris, nobody has to pedigree or Tom
Brady during the playoffs or during crunch time. The only
person close to him is Rue Breve. The restaurants just
(02:00:26):
hot commodity. It's abody. So you agree, yes, of course
I know why I say. I gotta take you down
a certain not. But Rob also on the on the
cuffs up by saying Tom Brady is declining if you
can't throw the ball out of down, Come on, man,
you can't throw the ball out of bounds. Unbelievable. That's
just one player why I agree with you. But here's
(02:00:49):
the on the flip side, I agree with Chris, but
Chris is also right. Nobody else has done it like
Tom Brady. Well, wait a minute, this is Tom Brady's
season highlights. We're strolling ten years by Brady. Stop Tory.
Thanks for calling, Bro, appreciate it. What about Mark and Sacramento? Mark,
(02:01:09):
you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. Hey,
what was going on? Guys? This Brady thing? This is
a real easy one. This is Brady's history that that
Chris Keith wasn't bring in against Brady's age. What you're
bringing in? And I'm bet on father time you guys. Ever,
go father time is undefeated. I try to tell the
time Father Time makes exceptions. Here we go he does.
(02:01:32):
Can we squeeze an exception for Kareem abdul Jabbar? He's
making one for Tom Brady. Let's go to Joseph in Indiana.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Joseph?
Not much? Happy birthday, Rob, Thank you so much, Bud
appreciate it. Well, Chris, you keep saying Braves the Goat
and Father Time Brady were thinking about. Brady was falling
(02:01:54):
off the things. She retired three years ago. He was
in VP last year. What are you talking talking about?
Was he not the MVP last year? Joseph? So even
if he was the second best quarterback last year, I mean,
come on, you shouldn't retire. He he gets one major injury,
(02:02:18):
he's done. Next big thing, that's what you mean. Garpolo
was supposed to be Jimmy Garoppolo was sitting there and
all that. Joseph, thanks for the call. He was all
lined up for the future, all lined up. Rob. I'm convinced.
I'm convinced that you texted some people. I'm not telling
what are you telling them? Ever? It has never been
(02:02:39):
a segment in the history of the show where you
had so much agreement from callers. Hey, things have changed changed,
no doubt. You are on your phone texting your boys,
former co workers. I'm drowning up here and it's my birthday.
This isn't fair? Is that what it was to me?
(02:03:01):
Help me? I'm tell me I'm wrong. Help I'm melty, melty,
tell me I'm wrong. Wrong. I'll hear you saying it.
You know, you know I ain't texts anybody ain't got time.
But are we doing a radio show? A radio show?
All right, man? So what you're doing tonight? Relaxing? I
gotta work in the morning. Now, it'll be the weekend.
(02:03:23):
I'll celebrate over the week weekend. So we're watching the
Dallas game. We're watching the Dallas game together. We're gonna
have drinks. It'll have fun. It'll be that Saturday thing
we've been doing. Right place, your favorite spot. Yes, we're
gonna go back there, but we'll have a better spot.
Oh well, okay, yeah, cool, all right, it's the Eye
couple of Fox Sports Radio, Chris and Rob. We will
(02:03:43):
see you guys tomorrow. Please have a good night.
