Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hi there.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
This is Connoisru's Corner. I'm Jordan Rich talking about food, dining,
restaurants and more. My guest today is good friend Matt
Robinson of Matt's Meals matts dash meals dot com. Recently
you did a review of Medium Rare Steakhouse look at
it in Watertown, and you've got some news about them
helping the community.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Matt turns out that Mark Buscher, who runs the chain
Medium Rare, which is the local one is in Watertown
at the Arsenal, has a nonprofit called Feet the Fridge
that's now based in the Washington DC area, but he's
hoping to expand it. Not only does it help those
who need food, it also helps those who make it.
He pays other area restaurants in addition to his own

(00:39):
to fill refrigerators so those who need food can get
it and they're out in the public.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
I was actually in Cambridge recently promoting my book on
the Ivy League.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
And they had a similar thing with an outdoor refrigerator.
So apparently it's it's a movement. Mark's organization down the
DC area has already given over seven hundred thousand free
meals and paid areas US over two million dollars, most
of which has been raised from donations. I'm hoping to
get him involved with Jeanie Gruber from Wish Dish because
it seems like they're on a similar mission, and a

(01:09):
very important one.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Especially these days and so many people are struggling.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
You can check out Feedthfridge dot org and of course
up here the wishtishproject dot org is a great way
to help the homeless community as well. We're all very
fortunate to have all the food we need. Let's help
those who don't have that privilege.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
All right, sounds great, wonderful program.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Thank you.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
