Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hello and welcome.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
This is Connesser was going around Jordan Rich traveled to
New York City recently and like to tell you about
a restaurant experience I had. This is a new Italian
spot called La Terra on First Avenue in New York City.
I met with Nick Ober, the co owner, and I
love the origin story of this restaurant.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
My first restaurant. It's my business partner Luigi's I think
now fourth restaurant. About ten years ago, I was a
customer of his at his last restaurant, La vo Letta,
you know, often a New York story, came to the
end of his tenure. Release landlord had other plans for
the building and he was kind of scrambling to figure
out what to do. I, as a customer, basically was like,
where am I going to go to eat? So I

(00:40):
talked with him. I was like, what if we ventured
together to you know, open a place and try to
keep as many of our staff as we could, try
to keep kind of the legacy of his existing business.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Nick told us more about the unique cuisine.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Your southern Italian classics and favorites with maybe a couliers
a flair. So my business partner, Luigi's from pool. A
lot of our fish features come out of that Poolia
heritage that he has. Some of our pastas or Ketty
Barez originated in Pulia and that's got broccoli. Rob Sausage
takes advantage of a number of the veggies that grow.

(01:14):
You know, Luigi would call it kind of peasant food
that has become now popular as I think especially more
Americans have traveled to Pulia.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Definitely check out La Tera next time you go to
New York. The web address l A T E r
r A dash NYC dot com. Ltera on First Avenue
and that's Connessur's corner. W b Z, Boston's news radio

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
