Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hollywood Walk of Lame, more like Mega Floppolis from the
World of Max Dreams, Ballerina, more trailers, Minuto, Penguino, Ooh,
Lichy Woman, Superheroes for all, Hellboy at Home, Garfield is
Back and hungry and loves Lasagna, all.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Of that and more. But first news, damp, bunch of deaths,
mac bunch of Hollywood Deaths.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Yeah, ripping peace for Maggie Smith, Chris Christofferson, to Kep Mtumbo,
Pete Rose, I'll just rapid fire this. I literally have
only ever seen Maggie Smith, Dame Maggie Smith, sorry, in
the Harry Potter movie. She was great in those, so
obviously a whole generation grew up on her. Chris Christofferson
is someone I am aware of. I don't know any
of his songs. I know he was in a Stars
(00:51):
Born fifty years ago.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Got hashtag You're stars Born though, no.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Not mine, but I'm sure he's uh, he's mourned by
many to Key Mamto actually kind of said very yeah.
In his fifties one of the biggest humanitarians on the planet,
so that'll be sorely missed. And then real piece of
shit Pete Rose also in there.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Very good baseball player. You can read up on the
stuff that Pete Rose has done off the fields by
all accounts, bad guy.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
You know what, I don't give a fuck about. And
then I'll go to my death bet on this. This
is where I'm drawing a line in the Sandcoop. I
don't need Tony Gwyn and Pete Rose smashing singles hashtag not.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
I've been saying this to you for years. I don't
care about guys that hit singles. When people tell me
all the time about, you know, Tony Gwinn being an
amazing baseball player. Yes, he was a very good contact hitter.
But if I'm going to pick a contact hitter, I'm
taking Wade Boggs. He could at least incorporate a double
every once in a while.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
I mean, at least Tony Gwyn had a couple years
where he hit twenty home runs. Pete Rose never did.
I couldn't think of a more overrated baseball player than
Pete Rose. Sure, Hall of famer had a million hits
played forever. I think he's an MLB all time leader,
and like games and at bats and whatnot, Yeah, obviously
has a place in baseball history. Whether you want him
in the Hall of Fame or not, that's up to you.
But it's just I don't give a fuck about Pete
(02:05):
Rose like he No, I'm not wowed by Pete Rose
hustling out a double Give me a fucking five hundred
foot moonshot.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
So, also with Tony Gwinn, people always talk about, well,
he never struck out, which is cool. But if you're
just gonna lightly tap out to the shortstop, who cares, Yeah, exactly,
put a little jews in that ball, baby.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Totally agree. Imagine if Tony Gwinn worked out that fat
fuck by the end of his career. Well, he started
his career super in shape, and then he.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Was just like, look, I'm just going to say this
once again food, which I understand every player in that era.
Don't tell me any of them are clean.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Well, Tony gwyn might be a stereoid.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
I don't know. I don't know, I don't know. I
think he had his best power year, like in his
mid thirties.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Possibly.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
So Also with Matambo, I was very very close a
couple of years ago to pulling the trigger on like
that nugget's rainbow Matumbo. I don't know if I liked
the number fifty five, though I think it's a little
too big.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Well that traditionally, before we we loosened the room, that
was the highest number you could go. In basketball, oh,
signal foul, they would use five five. You know. That's
why you never saw like a twenty six of fifty six.
Traditionally it was five and five was the limit on
either number there and then.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Because arrests only had so many fingers.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Yeah, and then also obviously you got now you know,
Rodman started wearing crazy numbers, but forever. That's why fifty
five was always like a classic big numbers because that
was usually the limit. Okay, I used to learn something
new today.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
I really like that. Actually news dumb mac. We spoke
about this last week, maybe two weeks ago, about who
would be at the Batman Hollywood Walk of Fame. Yeah,
and we questioned, you know, would any of the actors
be there? Maybe the studio had James Gunn or something
(03:48):
like that, and kind of a not a great showing.
I would say, I know that there were very uh
like legends of comic book writing, and like Paul Deaney
was there, the creator of Harley Quinn burnt Ward was there.
Who famously did not play Batman. Yeah, so I'm like,
I'm not trying to insult the people that were there,
(04:10):
but a little less than what we thought.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
I think it would have been pretty cool. Now, obviously
this is still a bit of ways and we don't
have the casting news, but it really would have been
perfect timing if James Gunn had announced the new Batman
at this star Walk Hollywood thing and he was there
taking photos with it.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
I mean, it would have broken the internet if they
were able to get Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney, Affleck, Bail, and
Pattinson all in.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Do you think they have a Batman group chat?
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Definitely not all those fellas well. I would assume that
Pattinson has talked to Kilmer or I'm trying to think,
because I know that he tested as Batman in one
of their batsuits, either Kilmore or Clooney. I'm trying to
think if it was the nipple suit though.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Okay, yeah, Keaton doesn't care enough I think.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
To maybe he does not care about anything.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Yeah, Clooney's cool enough that I think he'd want to
be involved. Yeah, I could go either way on Kilmer. Yeah,
maybe Bail doesn't care enough either. Actually I don't.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Although we thought that Affleck didn't care, but then he
just kept on showing back up. We thought that he
was done constantly. Yeah, but also yeah, the studio should
have paid all of them to be there. I okay,
so this should have nothing to do with whether they
wanted to be there or not. The studio should have
paid each of them money to be there.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
And realistically, they're all living within like fifteen miles of
where that star.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Was to they all have apartments right next to the star.
I think I'm not trying to dox anybody right now,
but there's depe over at the box office. This past weekend,
the Wild Robot pretty good weekend for a non IP.
The DreamWorks animated movie made thirty seven and a half
(05:52):
million domestically fifty three million worldwide on a budget of
seventy eight Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
It did not substantially better, but noticeably better than Transformers
did the week before, with both getting pretty similar reviews.
So this is real good and I think it's going
to have You know, we didn't really see this coming,
you know, I had seen promo for this a couple
of months ago. I was not anticipating what some are
saying like an all time great animated movie. So credit
(06:18):
to this and knocked off Beetlejuice. Beatle Juice coming in
at number two. Big drop for Transformers.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
I didn't see that.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
Yeah, a bit of a bummer, especially after all the
positive reviews. But I don't know. Maybe people are choosing
between Robot and Transformers and Beetlejuice is kind of a
different audience.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Yeah, and Beatlejuice will continue to get that spooky audience
because we are now in October, or as the Mac
and Goo listeners call it, Octeber. I'm also thinking that
The Wild Robot will continue to do well because I
think forecasters were questioning how well it would do when
it's opening weekend and then if it needed word of mouth.
(06:55):
But it came out of the gates pretty hot.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
It's blowing everyone's expectations out of the water. So so
credit to the I think it's dream Works right. Yes,
the studio there.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
Matt coming in sixth on a budget of one hundred
and twenty million dollars, and I believe Francis Ford Coppola
he footed most of this bill and then tried to
sell the movie and no one wanted it, or someone
eventually took it correct. That's kind of the backstory to it.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Yeah, so I do know not only budget of one
hundred and twenty million. Francis Ford Coppola obviously used to
make good movies. I think he's also been trying to
make this movie for like thirty years, so long time coming.
For it to make four million in its opening weekend.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
Four million, By the way, four million dollars.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
Is bad. That's real bad. And I have seen the
general reaction to this that at least that I've gathered
is people are just like confused, Yeah, why is this?
Why does this movie exist?
Speaker 2 (07:49):
It's not wild arrables.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
Although I have seen more audience reactions as it being terrible,
critics have been more like, I don't know what this
movie is.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Yeah. I have seen three or four of people that
I trust being like, this is an absolute mess. Now
I'm gonna see it soon news Dump. Something that I
am going to see as well is Ballerina should have seen,
by the way, the drop of this song in the trailer.
(08:20):
By the way, we're talking about from the world of
John Wick Colon Ballerina. If they keep this title real bad.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
This is a furiosa situation for this.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
This is the fantabulous emancipation of one Harley Quinn. I
understand that you need to have John Wick somewhere in
the title because you're trying to let people know that
John Wick is not only in this movie, which I
don't know why they need to tell us in the trailer.
You can just tease it with Baba Yaga. But yes,
that you're trying to get people in the doors. But
(08:53):
the trailer looks really good. I didn't like the musical choice.
I thought it was a bit on the nose.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
But Honor to armis, so is the studio, And maybe
I have a warped No, I do have a warped opinion.
And the way I view stars like Sidney Swingey and
Honor to armis She's the draw I'm gonna see because
of her. Is the studio not confident that she's a
big enough draw that they have to do this whole
in the world of John Wick and having show actually
(09:21):
showing Keanu in the trailer.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
I think that they need people to know that he
is there because he was the big draw of those
previous four movies, and you want to get people in
the doors, letting them know this is a John Wick movie,
even though even though if you just watch the trailer
you can tell by the lighting, by the fighting, by
the dialogue, by everything, this is a John Wick movie.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Yeah, and all the other crossover characters that aren't John Wick,
Like you didn't you didn't need to give him away,
even though we all knew he's gonna be in this movie.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
I heard you like to dance. I should have been
in this movie. I can take you to a dance lesson.
He's still spot on, spot on. There's up by the way.
Very excited about Ballerina. Also very excited about season two
of The Last of Us. This is coming to us
(10:12):
in twenty twenty five, so just three or four years away,
and this is set seven years in the future.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
The second game is set seven years in the future.
This season is going to be at least initially five
years in the future like that. So I think they're
going to fill some of that gap and then lead
into what the second game gets into, and then probably
the third season will conclude where the second game finishes.
I am going into this similarly as how I went
into the first season. I am aware of some of
(10:38):
the events in the first game, as I am aware
of some of the events in the second game. I
am purposefully not playing the game because I don't want
them to spoil the show. I loved season one of
the show. I really didn't have many complaints because I
didn't play the video game. So I'm going in same
way season two. I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready
for a cry. I bet I'll have a nice cry
in there. It seems like people are teasing that I
(11:00):
am really looking forward to this.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
A very subdued Catherine O'Hara, so at least for now. Yeah,
you think she just turns into shit halfway through? News don't.
Also got another trailer for NOSVAU I out of the
v when it should have been an f But it
is a spooky Dracula and this stars Willem Dafoe and
(11:24):
Billy scars Guard.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
I like that they're not showing Bill Scar's guard show
him in the first one, though, Yeah, fair, I don't
know I'm this. I'm confused on this one. This is
this most recent trailer sort of did it for me,
But I'm like, do do I want this movie? I don't.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Both of these trailers did it for me.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
It's obviously Robert Eggers has made some really good movies
over the last few years. Cash is great. I don't know.
I'm confused by it. I guess. I guess I'm looking
forward to it. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
I am looking forward to this movie so much. But
when watching the trailers, I'm like, this might make no money.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
Oh yeah, it's it's not gonna make a lot of money, definitely.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
It's also being released on Christmas Day, the spookiest day
of the year.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
Weird timing, for sure. It should have been coming out
in the middle of October.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
It should have been well, we always say for a
spooky movie, you put it out late September so you
get the full month of it. There you go the
whole feel of it. It feels kind of gross, it
feels kind of real too.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
So I will say my one critique is one of
the awesome parts of that movie. And I'm sure we're
talking to this is falling upon deaf Ears, because I
doubt many of our listeners have ever watched those For October.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
The first movie was a silent movie.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
Yeah, nineteen twenty. I think it came out.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
You just missed my joke. You said deaf Ears, and
I said it was a silent movie.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
Oh how about it? Zing The set design in the
first movie is fucking awesome, of course, because it was
in nineteen twenty and it's and it's h expressionism. Soe
that when I'm looking for something like that. So it's
you're missing some of that magic. But I guess if
you're gonna remake it, you're not gonna go psycho and
just do a shot for so. Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
News Damp Squad Game season two. People are still hype
on this?
Speaker 1 (13:09):
This is your Lindoe? Yeah, I guess I should have
made a blue I'm curious are people still hype on
Squad Game? Are people looking forward to this season? I
know season one was a big COVID thing. I think
it was. Was it twenty twenty that season one came up?
I remember during COVID people watched the shit out of this.
I still haven't seen season one. If people are looking
forward to season two, I guess maybe I'll jump back
(13:31):
or jump in finally to season one to get myself
ready for this. But I don't I haven't heard too
much hype around this.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
News Damp Penguin Minute. I forgot to write it in
Spanish there we go. The premiere of Penguin that was
episode one, had ten point five million views in its
first eleven days. That was outpacing current HBO series everything
besides House of Dragon and The Last of Us.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
Yeah, I was but hurt to learn on Thursday evening
that this second episode was not coming out the first
first episode did. Yeah, it's now the Sunday nine pm
HBO show, which is an honor, but that means I
probably won't watch it till Tuesday every week, which is
I We're on Tuesday right now and I haven't watched
it yet, so that's fucking annoying.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
Yeah, I've had a weird schedule this past week. I
have not had a chance to watch Penguin, but I
am looking forward to it. You know what, I have
seen kind of news demp Agatha all along. The show
is now two for three in Goo falling asleep during
the show.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
I still think there's a good issue more than is
an Agatha issue. I've enjoyed it. I've enjoyed it so far.
They are currently on the Witches Road, you know, doing
that stuff. It is somehow finding a good in between
for me like I had. I really was not looking
forward to this show, but it's been zany enough to
give me a couple hahas. And I think the acting
(14:55):
has been especially Catherine Hahn. It's just been really good.
It's been much better than I thought it was gonna be.
So good enough, I guess I should say there's that.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
I saw this. This is via thhr is that Marvel
is campaigning for awards for Deadpool and Wolverine awards a
consideration at least in the categories including Best Actor Ryan
Reynolds and then Best Supporting Actor Hugh Jackman. And this
will also be for Oscars too, Mac. Do you think
this is out of spite? Like they said, this is
(15:28):
kind of like a big middle finger to Hollywood, being like, hey,
not only did our movie dominate the year make so
much money, We're also gonna put our middle fingers up
and look for nominations as well.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
I don't think as much as we love those characters,
I don't think either's performance. If anyone's Jackman's does.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
I'll say Jackman, But I would almost say Jackman just
for a legacy thing of like, sure, just give him
a nomb because first off, he should have gotten something
for Logan.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
By the way, Yeah, good point, strong point. I can
get on board with that. I don't think you should win,
but I think i'd be happy with that. I do
think the movie should be nominated for Best Picture, though.
I mean, when a movie is that culture culturally significant
and makes that much money, it should get a Best Picture.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
Now. Don't get me wrong. I don't know of ten
movies at the moment that you would nominate, but usually
they start to creep into our awareness in about a month, so.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
I mean, think about it. We we do have some
time left.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
Is the leader of the clubhouse for Best Picture Doune too?
Right now?
Speaker 2 (16:28):
I don't think they would even give it to Doune
Too because it's you know, it isn't one of those
big art house movies, but it might be. But that's
what they should do. They should give it to Doune too.
I mean, are they gonna do what they did with
The Lord of the Rings and wait until, like the
trilogy is over and they'll kind of award the final
movie for how good the second one is?
Speaker 1 (16:47):
Yeah, but done too. Also, like with Lord of the Rings,
has does have a cross over appeal to like the
science fiction fans and also the critics. Because it's shot
so beautifully, and we've talked about that before.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
Look, it's a light year, it is a This is
a good year not only for Buzz but also for
Doune two to sneak in there.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
So I mean, I still again think when a movie
is as popular and makes as much money as Deadpool Wolverine,
it should be one of your fucking ten nominees. It
doesn't need to get a serious consideration for a win.
But I think if Dune two does start to pick
up this steam, I'll overlook the Deadpool Wolverine thing as
long as doing two wins.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
I would love it. If the Oscars now gave out
awards for best Easter Eggs, well didn't they didn't they
incorporate a fan vote for that.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
That's what the Snyder cut won. That fucking bullshit because
people like fake voted.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
For Is that still a thing or no?
Speaker 1 (17:43):
I know. I think when the Snyder cut won, they
were like, what, No, this is the last time, first
and last time.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
We made a huge mistake. Newsd speaking of superheroes, we're
now we're now allowed to say it.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
Yeah, I didn't know this was a thing. Marvel and
DC were had joined forces and we're fighting in court
to keep the trademark just theirs. Only they could use
the term superhero apparently or license the term superhero, and
a court struck it down said no more. Superhero has
now entered the public domain. So I wonder if we
now get the what's that Winnie the Pool movie.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
Oh, Winnie the Pooh, blood and Honey, it's gonna be
superhero movies, blood and superheroes. I would also assume that
in an episode of the Boys next year, they're gonna
say the word superhero one hundred times.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
No doubt, well, just over and over and over.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
Again, as opposed to soups news Dah one of those
SIPs hell boy. It looks like The Crooked Man will
be skipping its theatrical release domestically and will hit digital
platforms on October sixth.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
I would like a round of applause for the people
that created this movie and realized probably but it'll be
more well received, yeah, when it's free digitally instead of
people paying twenty bucks to go see this piece of chap.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
I'm not here to, you know, point fingers or critique
other people's work, although that's kind of what we do
every week and I do apologize for that for the
people that actually put in time on this, But this
looks like a home video.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
It doesn't look good from the from Jump Street here
when we saw the teaser trailer, like, this looks not great.
And we're also coming off the heels of an incredibly
bad hell Boy movie what five years ago? Six years ago,
so there's no appetite for this either.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
It looked like not hell Boy Colon a Triple X parody,
which is something I don't want to see. But I'd
probably take a peek at Yeah, he's got that one
big arm. What are you gonna do with it? I
think I would know how we got it the same
way you got your big arm. It's not I got
(19:57):
our first clip from the Minecraft movie and see this.
I don't care about this. You're a huge fan.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
I've never played the game. I'm aware of the game
because I have young nieces and nephews who are all
about Minecraft and crafting shit in that world. I've never
quite gotten the appeal of it, but I do know
it's super popular. I don't know. When they announced this,
I was like, I don't know how they're gonna make
a Minecraft movie, And after seeing a clip. I'm like,
I don't know what this movie is gonna do. Jack
Black's in it, Jason Momoa is in it, so they
(20:24):
got a fun cast. Maybe it'll be sneaky good. I'm
just also confused by this.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
Do your nieces and nephews, like, is it roebucks? Roadblocks?
Speaker 1 (20:34):
Roadblocks? Yeah? Very into that too.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
I remember we we gave one of my wife's godsons
two hundred dollars for you know, birthday, Christmas and ever,
and he immediately turned it into Roebucks.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
Yep. No, My my niece is seven and a half. Yeah,
well somewhere between seven and eight. Very into Roadblocks, very into.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
Does she convert all of her money into Roebucks?
Speaker 1 (20:57):
She spends an awful lot of time on that. I'm
sure every every ounce of hard earned cash she makes.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
So is that game you just buy?
Speaker 1 (21:05):
Shit? No?
Speaker 2 (21:06):
Investigated enough into the game.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
But it's it's it's similar to Minecraft and how they're
all sort of like, uh, you can opt you can
play different games within the game, like you Ken and
GTA and you could. Roadblocks is like a is like
a more child friendly Minecraft, but Minecraft was already child friendly.
At least that's my understanding of it. Okay, Yeah, it's
it's basically a way to suck money out of parents
(21:29):
via their children.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
Yeah, because one of these kids spending these robucks on
is it skins. I have no idea that buying skins.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
Sure items in the game. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
He was dump. Andrew Garfield is back after a two
year break from acting. He said, I'm excited to work again.
I feel looser, I feel established enough as an actor.
He told this to the Hollywood reporter.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
I gotta be honest, Goo hand up. This one's on me.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
I didn't know he was on a retirement. I didn't know.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
I didn't either, So I'm glad he's back. He's fucking awesome. Yet,
I guess the last time I saw him was in
the Spider Man movie. So yeah, I guess that has
been a couple of years.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
And I mean they're gonna sneak him into one of
these Avengers movies.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
Right, I don't know. Man, Sony's still fucking playing fast
and loose with their stupid universe. Once that goes away,
and it will, maybe we see him in here, But
as long as Sony's still sort of operating as an
adjacent Universe. I don't think we see Garfield in another
MCU movie.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
And not to knock down the other two, but you
could tell in No Way Home that Garfield was just
running circles around the other two Spider Mans.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
He's so good And.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
I don't even like his Spider Man movies, but like.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
I'm higher on them than most people. He's so damn good.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
He really is and awesome.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
I think one of the coolest parts of that movie
is his redemption arc. You know, obviously couldn't save yeah,
what's your face? Gwenstone, couldn't save Gwen if you will.
I don't like that, but I just I just love
I love Andrew Garfield though, so I remember when we
started this podcast, when we started getting into more movies,
(23:04):
you made a really good point about Garfield Spider Man
being like too cool, he wasn't nerdy enough, and it's
a very valid point. However, Garfield is so awesome that
he makes it work right.
Speaker 2 (23:14):
And then also in No Way Home, he was able
to like rechannel that character completely and take the grief
that he had from losing Gwema Stone and turn it
into he wasn't as cool he was. You know, he
knocked down a peg.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
You know he did.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
He wasn't skateboarding.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
He made plemonade.
Speaker 2 (23:31):
He did make plemonade by not skateboarding or slam dunking.
Basketball's news. N nobody too has wrapped filming. I was
unaware that they were making a sequel a movie that
I believe came out during the pandemic. I loved the
final scene of that movie is so fucking bonkers that
(23:52):
I didn't think they could make a sequel. But here
we go.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Yeah, love Bob Odenkirk, Christopher Lloyd and Rizza. Right was
his quote unquote.
Speaker 2 (24:01):
Brother in that Not sure.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
I don't, Yeah, don't. I didn't. I didn't see a
sequel coming. I'm I guess I'm somewhat looking forward to it.
I don't. I don't know. I Inevitably, I feel like
I'm gonna run into this issue as I have with
the Wick movies. I start to lose interest when I
don't understand why everyone's still fighting.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
Yeah, but there was that cool bus scene and I
believe it won the This is a Bus Award. Yeah,
they on the MAC and Good program.
Speaker 1 (24:23):
Like first John Wick movie killed his dog and for
whatever after that, I'm like, we're really stretching the motivations here.
I think he should just go back into retirement.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
Well, no, all the people are trying to win tokens
from the underground, I believe.
Speaker 1 (24:36):
Yeah, what a stupid idea that is?
Speaker 2 (24:38):
Is that from the table? It's from the table.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
Maybe we're gonna find out nobody operates in the john
Wick world.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
I don't want that.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
A John Wick story. Nobody too.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
That's a good callback. I like that there's no finally
coming out this week by the end of the week.
Is Joker fan adu mac? I know that you like music,
You're unlike most people. Yeah, Lady Gaga has made an
accompanying album to this movie.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
Yeah, I love Gaga. Yeah, I understand what she's doing.
I only made it like two songs in and really yeah,
so I'm gonna give it a legitimate listen at some
point this week. But the first couple of songs did
not rope me in, and I'm I also probably won't
be seeing Joker till like Saturday, maybe no, no or Friday,
(25:28):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
Can you see it Thursday please.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
I've gotta try. I'm hoping because we have to do
it for the end of the week. I know.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
I know. I'm not around next week.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
Yeah, neither am I.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
Yes, you are, You're always around.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
Yeah, I'm gonna try. I'm gonna try my best. I forgot,
I actually forgot, So maybe I'll buy tickets today.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
So hindsight's twenty twenty obviously.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
Do you think that Gaga should have done the Harley
Quinn voice in the movie and then made a full
album with that voice. That's something that younger Gaga would
have done.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
I wonder if she just didn't know what she was
getting into when she signed up for this movie. Of course,
she's artsy, and this is an artsy take on the
fucking Joker and Harley Quinn, I guess. But I wonder
if she thought she was going to be able to
use original music in the movie, which I think is
a better selling point, right, instead of just a companion
(26:23):
piece to the movie, which isn't gonna hit as well,
because I once again, I don't think anyone wants this movie.
Its just exists. It exists in the world.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
I've heard one of the songs. It's like the There's
a Joker in the deck in all the decks of cards,
there's a joker in the deck.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
That is an incredible, incredible rendition of Joker in the Deck.
I guess what you would call it.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
Is that one of the songs I heard like a
bit of it.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
So that song you're talking about, I know what song
I was talking about. I don't know what the name
of it is. That's like a that song is from
like nineteen sixty four. It's it's a cover. But yeah,
there's a joke, there's Joker in the Deck.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
I'll also say this is uh And I don't think
that she actually did this the recent song that she
did with Bruno Mars. In the music video, she is
smoking a cigarette while singing. Do you think she is
actually skilled enough to sing at her most powerful while
smoking a cigarette.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
Not while sucking in, maybe while blowing out?
Speaker 2 (27:20):
Because like she should go on America's Got Talent and
sing while smoking a cigarette.
Speaker 1 (27:25):
When yeaheah could win the whole damn competition.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
I give your singing an eight and a half. But
you did it all while smoking a cigarette. Crank that
to eleven.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
What's what's her stage name? As the singing cigarettes? There
you go, I don't know cigarette?
Speaker 2 (27:43):
Who was Remember when she was a younger performer and
she dressed as that guy with like the slick back hair,
like the Carisa hair.
Speaker 1 (27:51):
I do recall what was.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
That guy's name was. It was like Johnny something, right.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
Do you speaking of slick back old fox? Uh? Have
you seen the videos of Frankie Valley these days? No,
he's like ninety two. They put him out there. Then
he's not singing. He's just lip singing the lyrics. But
the microphone's like so far away people, you can tell
he's not singing, and he's just like stumbling around the stage,
(28:19):
senile bastard.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
There needs to be a rule in place that, like
when someone hits a certain age or you know, you
can tell that they aren't completely there anymore. Yeah, get
him out of the public eye.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Stop to yourself a favor. Look up some Frankie Value
videos after this.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
I think it was Gene Wilder who had a clause
that once he hit a certain age, don't have him
in the public eye. He doesn't want to be in
the public eye.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
I am on record that if I have a run
for office, first thing I'm doing is making elderly people
recertify their license every year.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
Oh they should once you hit a certain age.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
Yeah, yeah, let's say, all right, maybe retirement sixty five.
We'll give you a grace period seventy. Once you're seventy,
you got to retest for your license every single year.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
What if they're still in the working force, do they
still have to do it or is it every like
three years at that point?
Speaker 1 (29:07):
That's a good boy. We could put a clause in there.
If you're still working, let's say twenty hours a week,
you would only have to retest three years. I like that, and.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
We'd call it the Santa Claus because Santa is also
old and he has to get tested for his sleigh
his sleigh license. Right right, that was a good one
with Martin Short the Santa Claus. He was Jack Frost.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
I believe you look forward to Red one yet.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
No, but oh, this episode's going way too long. But
I was at home depot yesterday. It is the best
time of year because not only is all of the
Halloween stuff out, all of the Christmas stuff is also out.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
Yeah, and Thanksgiving smack dab in the middle. It just
gets no reing.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
Thanksgiving doesn't matter anymore.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
It's my favorite holiday.
Speaker 2 (29:51):
I think my son tells him my son is four.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
Actually, Christmas even Thanksgiving.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
It's odd how many times my son has told me
this that he hates Thanksgiving, like you barely know Thanksgiving.
Speaker 1 (30:01):
How is he even aware? How is he aware the
significance of Thanksgiving to even hate it?
Speaker 2 (30:06):
He loves Halloween, Yeah, he loves Christmas, and he looks
at Thanksgiving as just being a hindrance into both of
those holidays.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
I could see that. Yeah, because from a child's perspective,
you're not getting much on Thanksgiving.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
You're not dressing up in a costume. Yeah, although we'll
probably just let him be a ghostbuster this year for
Thanksgiving and then Christmas gifts.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
Yeah. Right, if you're lucky, you get some Poon sang
pie on Thanksgiving. That's it.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
Not this guy, all right, So catches at the end
of the week, hopefully Macracy's Joker, and if not, I
don't know what we're gonna do. But we are an octeerber,
so maybe.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
We'll uh foul tier Joker movies.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
Joker is at number one, and it's also last right now,
it's the only one.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
Huh Dark Knight newsed up.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
Oh yeah, he's in other movies. I guess newsed up.
