Basketball For Peace Tournament Brings Hundreds to UMass Boston

Teamwork is key.

Over one hundred kids are running up and down the
court here at U Mass Boston's Clark Athletics Center for
the annual Basketball for Peace Tournament.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
I mean new people who make new friends. So yeah,
it's overall THEO great opportunity.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
It's all put on by the Suffolk County DA's office.

Speaker 4 (00:15):
We have an attorney from our office, assistant district attorneys,
victim witness advocates, investigators, and administrative staff that's out here
today volunteering, keeping school refereeing.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Chief of External Affairs Michael Roberts says, it's a great
way to foster those community bonds.

Speaker 4 (00:31):
This is an opportunity for these kids to get together,
get to know one another. But more importantly, it's a
chance for our office to get out from the court
room walls, outside the court room walls and meet these
kids with They're comfortable here out in the basketball court.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
And he knows his way around the court too.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
We're gonna see you taking some shots out there today.

The days of me playing a rova I played here
many years ago at U Mass Boston.
