Speaker 1 (00:00):
When Emerson College kids go off on winter break, leftover
food at the dining hall gets packed into crates before
it's sent off to help local families in need. This
holiday season.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Students really care about sustainability and giving back to the community,
so it's really nice from our point of view to
be able to give food away instead of having to
throw it out.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
That's Jennifer Lammy, the Associate director of Sustainability at Emerson. Bonapati,
the company that caters the college's dining hall, started partnering
with Food for Free about five years ago, doing both
donations when college kids go on a break.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Today we received I believe just about three hundred and
fifty pounds of donations.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Molly Hanson is the senior program manager with Food for Free.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
The food that we picked up today will go directly
to Elizabeth Peabody House in Summerville and then also East
Boston Harborside Community School as well in Boston.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
I'm a Friedman w EZ, Boston's news radio.
