Mattapan Street Dedicated To Late Pastor Pearline B. James

I do hear by proclaim today June twenty sixth, twenty
twenty five, to be Pastor Perley James Day in the
City of Boston.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu helped usher in a new chapter
for Mattapan's Malta Street, where Pastor James lived, ministered, and
took care of children in the community. They officially dedicated
the street as Reverend Perline B. James Way on the
two year anniversary of her death. Boston City Council President
Rootzi Luisien also paid her respects.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
She was a woman like so many black women actually,
who not only cared for her own children, but for
the children and her neighborhood, and whose love for community
extended beyond the walls of her home.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Danella James Clark says her mother made her roots right
here back in nineteen seventy one and is proud to
continue her work in the community.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
She said, I'm saying, right here, this is where God
planted me, and it's just such a blessing that the
mayor and the City of Boston would honor her in
this way.
