Massachusetts is spearheading the push for rent control statewide, and
that's welcome news for young adults that work in Boston.
Speaker 3 (00:06):
I lived in Boston that I came to Quincy as
basically priced out of Boston. It's still remotely affordable for
one person to live here, but we'll see what happens.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
If passed, the maximum increase on rent would be just
five percent for tenants each year.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
These voters are hoping they can make that a reality.
Speaker 4 (00:19):
I think I've only had one rent here and certainly
don't want it to go up, so I'd be in favor.

The wrench just he'p going up and up and up.
But I paycheck's not going up, up, up and up,
Food's going up. Everything he's going up except for my paycheck.

Oh absolutely, yeah. I can see as to why people
are moving out of the area because ren just keeps
going up every single year with no real good explanation.

Roughly one hundred and twenty five thousand signatures were submitted
this week, but officials have until December third to certify
them from Quincy.
