Elvis Represents Show. It feels great to be back in
the podcast chair. I've been gone for two days now
and I've missed you every day. I missed you as well.
Gandhi's here. Oh look who's joining us today. Producer Jake

(00:24):
is here today. And there's Brody Hello, there's a Garrett
straight Nate, and there's Scary to gon handle something. I'm out, Okay,
all right, you're gonna handle something. You're out locking himself
in the bathroom. Are you yelling? Where are you yelling
at Jake? Oh? We're not. We're yelling at well. Jake
had a major problem where a company was trying to
screw him over, and he came to me for advice,

And then he came to me for advice again. Then
he texted me, then he called me, and he texted me,
kept wanting more and more advice. So when I told
Gandhi the story, he shows, oh yeah, he's been asking
me for the same advice. So as as the expert
on getting free dessert when the company screws you over,
I thought would be enough. Right, So let's let's go
to the very beginning. So what company tried to screw
you over? Sanesta Hotels? Sonesta Hotel. Yes, I'm supposed to

be going to St. Martin with my girlfriend on February eight.
The resort that I'm staying at is brand new. They're
like totally renovating it from the hurricane. So I called
the other day just to see if I could change
my room and they're like, did you get our email?
And I was like, no, what email. They're like, oh,
the resort's not opening when you're gonna be there. And
I was like, oh, so I have nowhere to stay.

(01:29):
Uh So they're like, yeah, so you have two options.
We can either give you full refund, or we can
change your reservation for a different date and give you
a credit for the airline. And I was like, well,
that's great, but Brodie was like that's not enough. You
need free desserts, not even you know. Brodie's theory is,
you know, free dessert means you know they did you wrong.

(01:50):
The least they can do is make it right and
more right. So just moving him to another week at
the same hotel and he changed his whole plans. By
the way, this was his girlfriend's birthday weekend, which is
the reason he was taking her. So now you've ruined
the birthday weekend, so just moving to another date is
not accepted. Okay, So what did you tell them? So
I asked for they kept offering me different I wanted

(02:12):
to go Friday to a Sunday and they kept offering
me Sunday to a Wednesday, and I was like, no,
I can't do those days. I booked a Friday to
a Sunday for a reason. So they said, okay, well,
we can give you the nicer resort for a Friday
to a Sunday, but then we can't pay your airline
change fee. And I was like, well, that doesn't make
any sense because that's gonna cost me four hundred dollars.
Why would I pay four hundred dollars to change resorts?
Because you screwed up. So it turns out in the end,

(02:36):
after lots of advice from Brody and the same advice
from Gandhi, they ended up paying the whole change fee
and changing me to the nice resort and giving me
an upgrade on the room that wasn't enough. Dessert. What
I told Jake was, I said, you called him and
you say no, no, Here's what you're going to do
for me, which is what works. Well. That's why I
went to Gandhi though, because I feel like that's so rude,

(02:57):
because the person on the phone, it's not their fault, right,
you know. So I feel like dick if I'm like,
here's what you're gonna do for me, and then well
demand things. But they understand that you're going to say
that because that's their job. Their job is and I
didn't say say it with a tough guy voice. Here's
what you're gonna do for me. We're not joined by Danielle.
Whatever happened is killed them with kindness, which is Daniel

(03:20):
thinks they're gonna spit in her bed. That's Daniel's whenever
they daniel get screwed off, she goes, I don't want
to complain. I'm positive that in Brodie's life he has
consumed spit from hundreds of people in this free dessert.
To look at him, he's healthy, yea, So good for you.
If Gandhi gave the same advices Brody gave, why did
you listen to Gandhi If it's the same advice, No,

(03:42):
I list it was. I listened to both of them.
But if they give the same advice. Then why did
you feel more comfortable after Gandhi Because what he actually said,
which he probably won't say now, Sorry, Jake, I'm gonna
out you. He said, I talked to Brodie, but I
thought I would talk to someone reasonable too. Okay, I
see what you did. You wanted you wanted a little
more or advice, and we found out the added advice

(04:02):
was actually sending you in the same direction. Because I
wanted to get my way without sounding like an asshole,
and I think Gandhi would be better at that. But Brody,
I know, will make sure I get my way. You know,
Brody even offered to call on my behalf. Oh yeah,
and exchange for Let me just say one thing about Gandhi.
I've heard Gandhi be an asshole. Yeah, she's totally capable

(04:24):
of being an asshole. I have not, so that's interesting.
I can be. But you really have to push me
to a crazy place. But I think that you did
the right thing. I think you guys handled it the
right one. I pushed him back that final step and
I said, Okay, you got the upgrade. I said, do
not accept not getting the free flight coverage. He got
full coverage. They were gonna only pay half his coverage.
I said, now they've upgraded you to the hotel they

(04:44):
moved you. Okay, where's you free to start? Tell me you
you want a hundred bucks towards dinner. He was, well,
it's all inclusive. I go, then just get a hundred dollars.
So he called back, he got a hundred dollars. Well, no,
the room upgrade was there. Unde's right. Great, we went
from having a room with no view to have having
an ocean view rooms and I'm happy. But look, okay,
here's here's what you're forgetting. You're making it seem like

(05:04):
you got all this stuff. You know what happened. They
got you as a customer, and now you're happy with them. Well,
so so it works out for everyone. Yeah, they screwed
me over. They canceled my vacations. So I don't think
asking for all this stuff was unreasonable. It wasn't. But
the fact is they could have denied you all of
it and just suffered you yelling at him. Here's what
we tend to forget. We were talking about this earlier.
When you go to a restaurant and you order something,

(05:26):
they bring it to the table and tastes like crap,
and you send it back. A lot of people won't
send it back because they're afraid, well, I don't want
to piss anyone off. We'll see that. But you see, Danielle,
you're afraid they're gonna sit in it. They're not gonna
spin in it because you know you would. The bottom
line is the restaurant wants you to be happy because
return customers are their their business. Yeah, but I don't

(05:46):
think the chef when he finds out he made a
mistake and he prepared your meal so nice, and then
you send it back because you don't want green ship
on it, he's not gonna be like, no problem, good
chef will that will have no problem doing it? Now, Gandhi,
weren't you talk thinking about the same topic. Yes, but
I'm convinced no one's gonna be able to convince me
otherwise of this one. So we ordered breakfast every day
and I ordered peanut butter toast, just toast with peanut butter. Now,

(06:09):
when the sandwich came, it was a peanut butter and
jelly sandwich. I was like, you, I don't like jelly,
so I just scraped the jelly off and continued to
eat the peanut butter. Are you okay with that? I
was fine with it. It was not a big deal,
was I R? You sent it back and you get
your peanut butter toast, And I was like, you're gonna
make some dude walk all the way down this wind
tunnel with two pieces of peanut butter. Reason, No, well, no, no,

(06:31):
it is. I mean, look, if you detest jelly to
the point where it makes you vomit, like mayonnaise makes
Daniel vomit, I can see why you want to replace it,
Broy Sometimes just like it's not even worth the floor,
I said. Was she could have called and said, look,
you got it wrong, don't bother coming back, but I'd
like it credit fit tomorrow and today. She could have
gotten a free peanut butter sandwich. Also, it pissed me off.
She called a peanut butt a toast. It's toast with
peanut butter, peanut butter. The toast isn't made out of peanut.

(06:53):
But you really are an ashop. It's not peanut butter toast.
It's toast peanut, thank you, Jake. It's not it's not
toast with avocado. It's avocado toast. I don't get me
started on that. While I was ordering it, he was
yelling from behind me, it's a peanut butter. I was like,
she can't hear what I'm saying anyway, Can you stop yelling?
And I got the wrong standwich. It's your fault. You
owe me free dessert. I have mixed emotions on this

(07:16):
whole free dessert thing because there are times where I'm like, Okay,
people make mistakes. I accepted, you know you gave put
peanut butter and jelly on this thing when I only
wanted peanut butter. But then there are times where I
want blood. I want you never got your money back
from smoking in the hotel room. That still pisses me.
Hold you never ever got your money, but you never
got my money back on it. I called the guy,

(07:37):
and I was furious. What happened happened? I stayed in
this ship hotel because I went my girlfriend for my
birthday a year ago got me tickets to see Jim
Gaffigan at Mohican Sun Up in Connecticut. On the way back,
it was late, I was like, let's just stop and
get a hotel in the exhausted, I want to drive.
We stopped this ship sleep in in ship, Connecticut. I
can't remember the name of connect It was a sleep

in and I stayed. There was a horrible room, but
we only needed for eight hours because we just needed
to sleep. I didn't want to make the entire two
hour drive back to the city. Leave. Uh, you know,
paid the bill whatever. And then two days later I
see this charge on my credit card statement for two
hundred and one dollars or something. I'm like, yeah, what
the well I called a hotel and so they said, well,

(08:22):
you were smoking in the room. I was I have
never I don't um. Well there they found cigarette ashes
on the counter and a cigarette button the toilet. I go,
that was not my room. I can assure you I
was not smoking in the room. Then I got finally,
after three weeks, I got on the phone with the
manager who said I was smoking in the room, Like,
how do you tell me that I'm smoking when I
know I wasn't smoking. How are you telling me I

(08:44):
was smoking? And I just I can't remember why I
dropped it, but you know, I was arguing with the
credit card company, and then I was arguing with the
parent company that said, oh though that's an independent owner
that you have to go discuss the matter with him,
which I did, and I still want to sick Brody
on the case. I don't care. You know what's a

(09:05):
statute of limitations on this thing. See that you deserve
a free dessert. I deserve that hotel I can't. I
can't get you a free room because you don't want it.
I don't want to get your money back because, as
you know, you had lung cancer. And it's offensive that
they would say that about you. Okay, sometimes you do
have to add the I head lung's right. That's they

(09:25):
don't know. If she had jelly cancer, she would have
gotten refund on the set. You have smuckers cancer. If
you about having a sickness, Cama is going to come
back to bite you. Don't about. Don't do that kind
of God's gonna give him a sickness back. He's already sick.
My father in law did this to to us. We

(09:45):
were sitting down, we're having dinner. I was having Thai food.
I put some some Thai noodles in my mouth and
what came out was a a half eaten fork, half
eat a fourk It was like a plastic fork. That
either plastic fork. So I pulled the fork out of
my mouth. My father in law gets on the phone
and goes, my entire family is just everybody ate their dinner.

(10:08):
There are five. My entire family is disgusted. They stopped
eating dinner. And I want my money back and credit.
I go, why would you want credit if I just
pulled a fork out of my mouth? He goes, don't
worry about it. So what happened? Hangs up the phone.
He got a full credit and the whole dinner. Even
although everybody ate everything, I was the one that suffered
from it. But you should never ever be afraid to

(10:30):
make it right. Now it's it's one thing if it's
just too much effort and you're okay eating peanut butter
was a little bit of jelly residue on it. But
if if it needs to be made right, you should
never ever be afraid to make it right. Ever, they
want a good a good restaurant, or a good company,
a good hotel. They want it to be right for you.
I agree with making it right. I just feel bad
about making it right and then some because I feel

(10:52):
like I'm gaming the system, Like I actually told Brodie.
The other day, I opened up this little bottle of
perfume that I love. I just bought it, opened it up.
It was only halfway filled and it's not cheap. So
I showed it to him and he was like, here's
what you do. You tell them this was a gift.
You gifted it to someone. Now you're so embarrassed or
mortified because they opened up a half used bottle, a
big bottle. You're good. Even birthdays ruined? Even again, even

(11:17):
he says, even is not even. I sit in the
back and listen to Brodia on the phone with customer
service a lot and tell you every day, never ever
want to be the person on the other end of
that phone life. And I don't think I could ever
do what he does. He walks into the Chinese restaurant,
they mess up his food, he just opens up the
fat even right, It was that that. That is the

one thing I disagree with the Soda podcast. How can
how can Brodie or anybody help us with our Schuleburger
problem that Gandhi, Danielle and I had at the airport. Okay,
now what happened, It was like bad nervous even the
people they were fighting. Weren't they fighting back behind the

count in fighting amongst the employees, yelling at each other.
Because the guy goes, I'm not giving you another fry.
It stun on the ticket. She goes, you're behind the
counter cooking. I'm telling you give me a fry. But meanwhile,
we waited an hour for our food at a freaking airport.
Wasn't even gut and it took us. It took me
forty five minutes for the line to even order. You

(12:22):
never ever got you never resolved the Shula hamburger problem
at Fort Lauderdale Airport, the burger at Fort Loda Airport.
And I tweeted at them and I said, was the
perfect coach where he won all these I said, well,
guess what you're owing sixteen in my book? He did
and then he's like, guys, did you say't retweeted? I
was like, okay, great tweet. And they didn't even have

(12:44):
They didn't even have the decency to write back to us.
No they didn't. Well they can't. You can't write back
to everyone. You know that we we we can't write
back to everyone. Here. I get your free flight not
even related are free football team. That's what I was
interested in. Brody called on Jake's be have to get
a hotel room. Guaranteed Brody would have had a hotel

(13:05):
room right next to Jake. I'll tell you what. You
know what another reason why we keep we keep Twitter.
Twitter is great at this. For instance, Uh, we had
some flight problems with with Alex's mom. She she because
of the United Airlines made a mistake and because of that,
they were delayed there. They missed connections where they're gonna
miss connections. So he went on in one minute after

(13:28):
he said something on Twitter, Boom, they were there, they
d M they fixed it. They delayed a plane to
wait for his mother, and United was on it. So
even though you hated United for a minute, you ended
up loving them because they have people that know what's important.
Great companies are on Twitter, like Wendy's and Taco Bell.
They were spawned there right there for you, but they

(13:49):
take it offline. They're live because they know these delays
are happening live. They need to catch them as they're happening,
and they can kind of they can try their best
to fix it. Took the social about a couchman us
up and they didn't call him back forever and then
he messed up his couch. They sent them two pieces,
but they were totally different colors. And so then now

(14:10):
they're telling him that he's going to have to wait
weeks and weeks. Okay, you know what he deserves what
he gets because if you look on his instagram, look
on his instagram of the picture of the two couches,
of the comments are asked, Brody, he'll get your free dessert.
Everyone knows I could get him fixed the problem and
then some and he has not mentioned it to me,

(14:30):
so suck it. Wow. So you take this very personally.
If people try to fix it on their own, you
get mad. You want to be you want to be
the director in charge of it. Will be nice if
he asked me for help. If somebody wanted radio advice
and they didn't come to you when they worked here,
I'd be like, why would Jess Elvis please stop sending
people to ask you? Why don't ask me for raises?
