Speaker 1 (00:01):
Today's Daily Highlight from Elvis Duran in the Morning Show.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Here's my list. I want you to text me if
you hated Wicked. Oh well, okay, right now. I want
you to text me now if you think you've seen
Wicked more than anyone else the movie. Okay, ye, our
text is fifty five one hundred. Let's go to Diamond
and see what the hell is she thinking? Diamond, Hi,
(00:28):
good morning, Okay, so okay, okay, I promise I'm not
going to beat you up over this. Danielle. Be nice
to Diamond.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
I don't know if I can talk to her today now.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
As much as you love Wicked, Danielle, I think Diamond
hates it that much if you have to give it
like a number on the meter. So, Diamond, what did
you see the whole thing? Tell me what's going on here?
Speaker 4 (00:48):
Yeah? The issue was that I sat through the entire movie.
I mean, the thing is about three.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Hours long, two forty Okay.
Speaker 4 (00:55):
I was irritated, Like, you mean to tell me you
can tell this story in an hour and a half,
understand I don't.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
And it's only part one.
Speaker 4 (01:03):
Exactly the nerve of it to say to be continued
at the end, I'm like, oh, bye, girl, I'm not
doing this.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
You haven't seen the Broadway show? No, And but I.
Speaker 5 (01:11):
Asked you before before vacation.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
I said, Danielle, do you think that I will enjoy
it if I haven't seen the Broadway showing? You said, yeah,
and id girl, I've thought about you. I said, I'm
not going to text her because she's going to be irritated.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
But I was irritated.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Well, most people that saw it and didn't see the
Broadway show probably enjoyed it.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
But that's okay.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
My sister loved it.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
She was sire.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Do you trust your sister's judgment?
Speaker 4 (01:38):
Not anymore?
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Okay? Wow, okay. Was there anything in that two hours
and forty minutes that was good that you enjoyed anything?
Speaker 4 (01:48):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Okay, all right.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
Yeah, it just it wasn't.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
It wasn't for me, okay, Gandhi, Yeah you saw it.
I mean, you know Diamond better than most. Why do
you think Diamond hated Wicked?
Speaker 6 (02:03):
I don't know, man, I can't figure this one out
because I first sure thought she was gonna like it,
and when I found out she hated it, I was stunned,
and I wanted to figure out why.
Speaker 5 (02:10):
I didn't really get an answer.
Speaker 6 (02:12):
She just said she hadn't seen the play or the
actual Broadway show, and she didn't understand why this was
so loved by everybody.
Speaker 5 (02:19):
I don't know. I don't know. I think you have
to see it again, Diamond.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
No, it's okay. I'm I'm trying to look at this
from different angles. Okay, do you see, Diamond, why Danielle
is in love with it? Because I mean, you know Danielle.
Do you see why she loves it?
Speaker 4 (02:34):
Yes? Yes, I get it, like I understand why people
like it, maybe not love. Like my cousin was crying.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Girl, pull it together, I cried several times.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
No, No, that I don't get.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Do you think scary were like wicked?
Speaker 4 (02:52):
Absolutely hard? No?
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Wow, that's where you're wrong, And this is you don't know.
You haven't seen it. I'll tell you what. I like
it because I grew up. I watched three three times
I saw the Broadway show. I middle love the movie.
Speaker 7 (03:06):
See, you have no attachment to it because you kind
of didn't grow up with the Broadway show when.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
It was you know, in its take. Okay, you know
what about Froggy? Do you think Froggy is gonna like Wicked.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
No no no, no no.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
I think Daniel, I think we all say we all
say no. For Froggy, I like the Broadway Show. Okay, okay,
maybe you will.
Speaker 5 (03:28):
I didn't know you liked this.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
I know you're not a big Broadway person, so.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
You went to a Broadway show. I've seen we Get
on Broadway twice. I went as a good husband two times.
God yeah, Froggy seen the Broadway show.
Speaker 5 (03:42):
That's impressive. Frog.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
I know sometimes I do venture outside sports. Believe it
or not, I believe it.
Speaker 6 (03:48):
This might be a crazy thing to say, but I
liked it more than the show than the Broadway show
because there's stuff that they can do with a movie
that you can't do in the show. That was incredible,
and I just I was.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
I loved it.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Let me tell you what gravity bawling ball spoiler spoiler.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Talk to Denise on Hit nineteen for me scary. Denise
has something to say to Diamond. What is that?
Speaker 8 (04:15):
Oh hi, Diamond, I've seen it five times actually in
the theaters.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Wow, Denise, what is your opinion of people like Diamond
who just don't like it?
Speaker 8 (04:28):
You know, it's so funny because I bought these tickets
way in advance before the movie even came out, So
I bought them kind of like Danielle did, Like I
bought them weeks in advance, and everybody kept saying the
same thing, Well, you have your you have tickets to
see it five times, but what happens if you hate it?
And you know, I went with people. I went with
different people every time because everybody, like somebody knew each
(04:50):
time to see it. And I thought for sure my
father was gonna hate it, and he loved it. Like
once it ended, I looked at him and he goes
asleep during the Broadway mus So, Like I felt like
that's will follow you, the fact that he loved it.
But I don't know, Diamond, I thought just everything with
everything currently that's going on in the world politically, Like
(05:11):
I felt like it just mirrored everything there and it's
just such a beautiful play and about witness and wait.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Hold on, I gonna say you it mirrors the political
what do you guys think?
Speaker 5 (05:23):
So, yeah, that's actually what I was singing the whole
time I was watching it.
Speaker 6 (05:26):
Well how interestingly poignant at the moment, Yeah, huh yeah.
Speaker 8 (05:30):
So, I mean, I don't know if I don't know
if any of you have also read the book. The
book is just fantastic. I read it twenty years ago
when the play first came out. It was just so fantastic.
And then, you know, the Broadway musical came out, and
I think, you know, Art the director to really just
did a beautiful job making it so relevant today as well.
So I think, you know, not only is there a
(05:51):
story to be told with you know, a different point
of view from the Wizard of Us the fantasy story,
but I also think it's just so poignant now and
currently in our well.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
I want to go see it. I can't wait to
see it. And thank you for calling. I appreciate that.
And interesting text came through This listener says she. I'm
assuming that she I don't know, uh, is surprised that
the number of people who've never seen the Wizard of
Oz the original movie. Yeah, really has ever been here
seen Wizard of Oz?
Speaker 4 (06:20):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Diamond, did you see Wizard of Oz the movie? Yeah?
Did you like the movie?
Speaker 4 (06:25):
I was little? I think I liked it. Okay, well, yeah,
I think so. I haven't seen it in the past,
let's say fifteen years, Okay, you.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
Know, well, I find very interesting.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
If you have not seen the Broadway play and you've
only seen the first part of Wicked the movie, there's
a lot of things you don't realize and you don't know.
You know that there are easter eggs, and there are
little hints about things that are in there.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
You notice. Yeah, they may not explain things.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
You may not. They just went by quickly to the movie. Hey, okay,
let's get another side. Colleen actually agrees with Diamond on
line twelve. Oh well look at that. So look at
that diamond. Colleen agrees with you. She didn't. You did
not like Wicked, is what you're saying, Colleen.
Speaker 8 (07:07):
I didn't love it. I grew up as a Wizard
of oz Gal. I was born in nineteen sixty eight.
Went so Wicked twice. I could not wait to see
it for the first weekend. Dragged my girlfriend to the play.
She wanted to see it too. We sat there waiting, Okay,
what's gonna happen next, what's gonna happen next? Something good
(07:29):
gonna happen regarding the play or the show, like give
us something. I love Arigana Grande love her. I think
she's hysterical with Jimmy Fallon.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
I don't know what I found Jimmy Fallon in.
Speaker 8 (07:49):
What do you?
Speaker 2 (07:50):
What do you think about Cynthia Rivo? I mean, did
you love her?
Speaker 4 (07:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (07:54):
She was okay, Oh.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
God, god, oh my god. I love yell Sorr.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
But you but you know what my mom.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
I I almost didn't talk to my mom when I
went to take her to the movie because she was like, yeah,
I said what she goes, I liked it. It was
a little slow slow. She's like, yeah, it was a
little long. I'm like, mom, I'm never taking you anywhere.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
Isn't it funny? How if so? If someone disagrees with you,
you're like, oh, dare you?
Speaker 1 (08:31):
My girlfriend I saw Saturday night and then Sunday morning.
Speaker 8 (08:34):
She sees all these posts from friends who saw it.
Speaker 5 (08:37):
Oh my god, I cried five times.
Speaker 8 (08:40):
My girlfriend are like, basically saw a different movie.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
Maybe they saw Mamana, Hey, listen, thank you for listening
to us. I appreciate your point of view. Calling. Okay,
thank you, thank you calling. So you were gonna say something, Gandhi,
what was that?
Speaker 6 (08:57):
I've never seen a movie by myself before. I went
to see The Salone and I loved it and I'm
so glad that I did it.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
It was well. I can't wait. You know what I'm
gonna I'm gonna follow your cue. I'm going to go
and see it alone as well, because none of my
friends want to see it. Wow, but I do want
to see it. I'm want to go see you Wicked.
I want to have my own opinion. I'm ready for it.
But I mean a lot of times these events happen
like a movie like Wicked or whatever, and it gets
(09:24):
so hyped yea, and you go to watch it, You're like, uh,
I was expecting more or I should have expected less
because of the hype. I hope that he isn't going
to ruin it.
Speaker 5 (09:34):
Don't listen to the hype, then don't listen to it,
and it doesn't.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
And I honestly don't think it does, because I think
it's it's everything and more. I'm sorry, but that's why
you know, I really no, no.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
I loved Danielle with all the things you champion on
this show. You were such a fan of so many things,
thanks and and so you were like, this is it
and I totally get why you love it, and I
haven't even seen it, and leave it to Grandma Nate,
who has you know, every little ache and pain. Listen, Limp,
he limps through life, he says. He says it was
(10:07):
so long. Wicked was so long his blood sugar dropped
and he needed to eat a Werser's original camera.
Speaker 7 (10:13):
No, that is my one suggest. I loved it. I
loved it through and through. I am a huge fan.
But it was very long, and I did notice I
was getting a little sleepy. I'm like, man, I really
should have brought a word. There's originally and it's.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
Even longer because you remember, there's at least twenty to
thirty minutes of previews.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Oh my god, it wasn't for the damn previews.
Speaker 5 (10:30):
So the first time I.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
Went to see it, it was twenty minutes worth of previews.
When I saw it last night, there were thirty minutes
worth the previews, which is fine for me, but for
my seventy five year old mother to sit there for
two hours and forty minutes and a half an hour previews,
she had a gold peepy you know really yeah, our
Nate's you know, sugar love.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
This is kind of Hilaire.
Speaker 5 (10:50):
You can't go three hours without eating.
Speaker 7 (10:52):
Bring as man a snack. It would be very helpful
to have a little something to read your blood sugar. Okay, Grandma,
So okay.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
The song I'm brain farting the songs that Cynthia Rivo
and Ariana due that's the song like the show popular No, No,
the Defying gravity, that one hit they hit the money notes.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
They asked Cynthia Rivo if that's the most difficult song
she's ever performed. She said absolutely not. Did you ever
see her in the color Purple? There's a song in
there called I'm Here and that is if you listen
to it if you want, if you're a Cynthia Rivo
fan now or you always were, you know what I'm
talking about, go to YouTube or whatever and listen to
(11:38):
I'm Here by Cynthia Rivo. How a human being can
sing those notes and hold those notes like she does,
She is unbelievable. Love her, just love her? And are
you on a Grande? I'm hearing she surprised a lot
of people in this with her.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
She did such a good You don't feel like you're
watching Ariana Grande.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
You really don't. You feel like you think it's Glinda.
You really do
