Speaker 1 (00:00):
Our good friend Lee Shregger. He's on the show from
time to time. People are like, like, why do you
let him come on and belittle you so well? Whatever,
because we know the truth. Yeah, the last time he
was in he almost made me cry. We love you, Lee, Lee,
get close to the microphone. Lee. Of course, being in
Miami Beach, being with you in Miami is just a
treat because this is your town. And what's the Fountain
(00:20):
Blue mean to you? It's history growing up when I
was a child twenty five years ago. This is where
we stayed coming down. I mean really, when we would
come down from Long Island, we'd stay at the Fountain Blue.
I stayed here when I was OK. It's amazing. Maybe
we knew each maybe we played on the beach together.
I doubt it.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
My mother wouldn't have let me near someone who looked
like you.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
When you're running around the beach here, I was a toddler.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
When you were running around to beach, Jerry Folwell was
chasing you like the flow boys here?
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Is there a problem with that? So the Fountain Blue
is a piece of history here in New York City,
I mean here in Miami b much longer than we've
been around. Oh no, it's it's great.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
I mean, look at just walking into you see all
the pictures of Frank Sinatra to Marilyn Monroe and all
the gangsters who used to hang out here. And Phil Goldfarb.
You know who runs the property. Was not Aster by
the way, Well uh no, no, he is one of
the great you know managers, managing directors of this property.
It's an extraordinary property. We do events here over the
(01:24):
South Beach one and food festival, which I am not
here plugging today, just f y. I but I do
have a few things to say before we start.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
I'm sure you do. Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
First of all, I made some notes because when I
was on last time, I felt the show dragged a little.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Oh wow, this is great.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
I come. I kind of made some notes. So you're
consulting with and now I'm a little consulting. I spoke
to Bob Pittman. He knows that starting Q one, I
will be consulting.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
On the show. Boy. Yes, I'm excited. Yeah, Q one,
I'll be consulting in the show number two. Wait, I
lost my train of thought. Okay, wait, wait you're acting.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
No no, down, no, no, no, I'd like to I
want to take the Doriso pledge because we never have
enough batteries in our house and no matter what we
are looking for, you don't have that size. And all
these years later, I don't know which battery goes in
which I can't figure it out. So when I dropped
the remote and they fall out like it falls on
the floor like in the middle of a good you
know you're best seen, I don't know how to put
(02:22):
them in. I have to wake up Ricardo to say,
can you put together the batteries?
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Ricardo? You know, Thank God for Ricardo. They have like
little a's on that I don't know. I cannot see them. Okay, wait,
and then I have to ask you.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
I had a very embarrassing moment last week. What happened
last Sunday?
Speaker 1 (02:41):
I was flying home.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
I was in Teeterborough and I ran it to my
friend Mariah Carey. Okay, so I figured, oh, you know,
what what do I have in common with Mariah Carey?
I said, you must know my dear friend Elvis Duran.
That was the worst thing to possibly say.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
What did he say? Nothing? I can say here? She
had then she's seen our friends again. Oh well, you
may want to tell her that they just casually dropped
Tineborough and Riah Carey pick those names off the floor.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Peter b Yes, I said, she's sitting there.
I'm sitting there. We're looking at each other's luggage, and
I say, oh, you miss know my dear friend Elvis Durant. Yes,
she goes, yes, that's exactly what she's saying.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
I'm like sneered then, as if it couldn't get worse.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Yesterday, I'm calling all my food friends to deliver food
Salty Dog, Cindi Luz Albago, Eastless Canadas, and I'm saying,
you know, I'm going on the number one morning show
with my friends. And they all say, oh god, we
love Arique Santos. Wow, hair I would say. I was like, no,
(03:56):
it's Elvis duran They said, well, Rique Santos. I said no,
I promise you as Elvis and the crew. I mean, so, well,
you're not as popular down here as I thought you were.
I want to say, give me talking about why you're
popular here that everyone.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Knows why I'm popular. To hear Albus, you don't need
to dig up the pass. What I would like to say,
everyone knows.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
That jingle balls in town, and the tickets started thirty
one dollars. I wish you promoted other things the way
you promote your jingle ball thirty one dollars. Thirty one dollars.
We all know that it's tomorrow night. I would like
to make it clear that I was not invited.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
That is okay. I wonder what.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
I would like to say. Ricarda said to me, aren't
we going? I said, why would we go when not invited?
I'm not spending thirty one dollars. You are awful, By
the way.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Mariah Carey was sick last week with the flu. She
was trying. I wasn't feeling well. Are you sure that
you saw it their? She was at Sunday at an
FBO in Teeterburg. I promise you that was there. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
She was carrying a fabulous boy yard bag. She had
two dogs whatever they were looked like schnauzers. So she
may have been sick, but she was flying with kids.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
It looked like her. Well, I'll have to give him
a call now. You might want to tell her to
see what's going on there.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
You should have seen her face when I said, Elvis Durant,
oh please, Yeah, You're full of crap and I love it.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
Hey, Okay, So here we are in beautiful South Florida.
Here we are in Miami, Miami beached to be exact
being doing what you do here. You are so involved
with the community here, it's so it goes beyond anything
we know about you. You have such a love for
the restaurants, the chefs, the people who work in restaurants,
not just not just the owners of the restaurants, but
(05:46):
all the way up and down the line, everyone who
works in this industry. How important is it for us
to continue to remember we can make dinner and a
home or we could go out. We need to go out.
I need to go out.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
I mean, you know, although I'm a chef by trade,
I never cook. You know, Miami has the greatest restaurants
in the country. It has really become the capital of
the food world. I would say, you know, New York, La,
Miami have the greatest, greatest restaurants. I mean, you look
at the talent that's here, from Thomas kell A to
Jean George, to Fabio Traviochi to Danielle Blu And then
(06:19):
you talk about the local talent like Michelle Bernstein, who's
like our royalty and Michael Schwartz and you know it's
it's endless. It used to be we couldn't decide where
to eat. We had they aided Joe's or we ate
at the Forge, right, and there was nothing in between.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
Now you can't.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
You know, it used to take you minutes to decide
where you wanted to eat because it was nothing. Now
it takes you minutes to eat because there are so
many great choices, I mean really great food. And I
love Italian food like you do. And we're going to
our favorite Italian restaurant tonight. I'm not going to tell
you because I don't want you to hound all over Elvis.
Miriam may find out where we are and come see this,
you know, a ten Olton Road, seven thirty.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
Thank you. You know what's great about Another thing that's
great about the Fountain Bluesuntain Blue. It's more than just
for all of us that fly in. People who live
here come here as their community center in a way.
And Michael White just opened Marabella here he is and
we had dinner there last night. Another great chef here Florida,
one of the best restaurants in the city. Michael White
(07:19):
one of the best chefs in the city. But Mirabella
is probably one of my favorite restaurants. And this is
you know, you can check in here and never leave
this property. The food and beverage here, the rooms are fantastic.
And look at this view. Yeah, I mean, I mean,
I know it's hard to compare it to your studio
in New York City. We look at nothing, yeah, look
at nothing. We look at murders on we see people
(07:42):
shooting people in the streets. I see dead people when
I go there, right, yeah, yeah, another trash trash, Yes,
and Gandhi has a passed here in yes, South Florida.
Pemberke Pines in high school. Hello, see Danielle. And we've
been coming here when but scary for years in your
hears to Tom Blue, it's it's an amazing property, so
(08:02):
well run. The history here is great.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
And as I said, Phil Goldfarb one of the you know,
ultimate professional hotels in the.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
City, one of the greats.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
You know what.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
I was telling someone who works here as well earlier
that when Phil, when he decides not to have such
a huge role here to the Found Blue, he should
continue on and they should sell Phil Goldfarb Tours were
for for a nice amount of money. You let him
take you on a tour of the Fountain Blue.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
And I don't think Phil needs any money. I think
it's been very well compensated. I'm not worried about Phil.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
But the found Blue takes a cut. Yeah, yeah, there's that.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Then you know, Dave Grutman here has a nightclub downstairs,
I mean it's and they have a great bakery downstairs.
And the store next to the absolutely is that what
it's called. And they have a store that, shockingly for
a hotel, has great, great clothing, clothing items like really
really good.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
I have lots of questions, I mean, scary and not
using your shirt as a that's not from the fountain
You have shot here before? Yes, yes, before you before
you roll out. I'm rolling out. I just got here.
It's thirty eight minutes to get here. I'm not leaving.
We do need to thank these I am not leaving.
We need to take these incredible friends of yours that
(09:18):
brought this food in with you. You you turn them
on to us, us onto them. I'm going to thank them,
but I want to tell you I am not leaving.
I'm here till the end.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
It took me thirty eight minutes to get here, and
Recrder made me sleep in the bedroom of the bedroom
so I wouldn't wake them up.
Speaker 1 (09:33):

am here all day. Thirty eight minutes in Miami is
around the corner. I am with you all day here.
