Speaker 1 (00:00):
Don't mind us where playing Through. Here's Froggy and welcome
to another edition of the Playing Through podcast. It's Froggy
from Elvis to Rand. In the morning show, Brian Whacker
is live from Quail Hollow, where the PGA Tour is
this week. What's going on, buddy? How are you? Man?
(00:22):
I'm good, just rolled into Charlotte last night and sent here.
Uh actually in a while left. Well it's here TG
a championship a couple of years ago, and uh, this
course has been a long time PGA tour stopped and
a big field and we're going to get into that
a good field. But of course, uh, sort of the
(00:42):
impetus for being here, A big part of it was
Tiger Woods. And of course now he's not here, so
you know that. So now let me ask you, is
that why you're there? Is that why you went to
qual Hollow because your trip was booked prior to him
pulling out of the field. Are you going to go anyways? Yes?
I well it was sort of twofold, certainly, Tiger Uh
(01:04):
being in the field sweetened the pot for the reason
to come down here or come up here rather um
and the trip has already books. Uh, but we started
to get suspicions of him not playing, started to hear
some rumblings of you know, tournament officials had expected him
to play right up until I think that you know,
probably the two or three days prior until he said
(01:27):
he wasn't gonna play, um, and they started sort of
removing him from some of the tournament activities and and
some of the tournament materials. So we we had an
idea that this is gonna happen, um, a few days
in advance of it happening um, but not really you know,
not a huge surprise, I think, given I think and
(01:50):
I know we're gonna get into this. But you know, look,
he's forty three, he's obviously the Winning the Masters took
a lot out of him. Talked about that, Uman, We've
seen this in the past. We saw last year at
east Lake it took a lot out of him, and
then he had to turn around and go to the
to the Ryder Cup and didn't play very well at
(02:11):
the Ryder Cup. So, um, you know, I'm not I
don't really have a huge two things. One, I don't
I don't really have a huge issue with this I
and I you know, I don't know how much we
should really read into it. I mean, I'm sure he's
tired and sore. We we all saw the video You're
kind of walking gingerly in that Golf tv UH interview,
(02:34):
and we saw him playing the next day. So, um,
I don't know how much to read into it. He
says he's fine, and agent Mark Steinberg says he's fine. Look,
at this point, does it really matter if he's here
or not. I mean, at this point it's about major
championships are Tiger and so going from August at the
best page for next month's PJA Championship is really with
(02:55):
without a start is really not that big a deal
to me. Yeah, but you know, you've heard so many
times he's said that he always needs reps. We've always
heard the term reps, reps, wraps, raps, reps. So he's
not getting those reps. He's gonna go straight from Augusta
and then take four weeks off because we had Harbor Town,
then we had the Zurich. This week we have Quail
Hollow and the next week and then the week after
(03:16):
that's p g A. So he's gonna go four weeks
of not playing any golf with zero reps. Do you
do you really think that matters? Well, I don't think
that where we are, I don't think that he could
show up in on the couch. Okay, so hold on,
let me ask you this. So you're telling me that
you don't think it hurts his chances any by playing
no competitive golf whatsoever for four weeks and then just
(03:38):
showing up at the PGA like nothing happened. I mean,
I feel like it's pretty neutral at this point. I mean,
it's gonna so so he comes to Coil Hollow, maybe
doesn't feel great, uh physically, you know. I mean you've
got to remember what people don't realize. There's sort of
all the reps that goes into not just you're playing
(04:00):
these tournaments, but a lot of these guys. I mean,
they're on the range, you know, Tuesday Wednesday on the
golf course Tuesday Wednesday, sometimes even Monday. Then it's four
tournament rounds, and there's practice before each round, and there's
and there's sometimes practice after the round, and then there's
you know, physical therapy, treatment, and and there's other obligations,
(04:20):
media and other things that just chew up a lot
of mental energy and time and everything else. So to me,
you know, not playing here. I mean, look at as
I said at the top, this is the this was
the PGA venue two years ago. So um, it would
certainly set up well as a as a good prep
course going in the Best Page next month. But it's
(04:42):
not that big a deal to me. Tiger has played
at Best Page plenty of times. He's one there. Um
knows the golf course. He can just kind of work
on his game on his own timetable, on his schedule.
I think this is the new Tiger. This is what
we're gonna see. We're gonna see him play now. We'll
be lucky if you play is fifteen times a year.
I think to me, we saw him pull out of
(05:02):
the Donald Palmer Invitational because of the next train. That's
the place he's won eight times, and there's only a
few hours down the streets. So to me, it's it's
really not that big a deal. Froggy, I just don't
I don't think you know tournament right. Yeah, you're right.
We hear reps all the time, but that's that's just rhetoric.
I mean, I think you just get those reps working. Look,
(05:23):
he wanted two thousand eight Tory Pines without without playing
in between majors there because of it the knee injury.
So um to me, it doesn't really matter if he
doesn't play between the Masters and p g A. Does
that lessen his chances? You think, like, do you think
his chances of winning? Not? Really? Do you think it does?
(05:44):
I mean I do. I Why why do you think
it changed? It lessens a chance? Because I feel like
he's not going to have the work that he needs
to put in to be as competitive as he would
had he played at Quell Hollow, a golf course that
held the PGA Championship, as you said a couple of
(06:05):
years ago. So I just I was really and listen,
I'm guilty. I'm as guilty as everybody else. I wanted
to hop on. The eight team is under attack wagon again,
and let's all hop on and let's steam to eighteen.
And he won the Masters, and he's playing at Bethpage,
and he's gonna play the PGAs at the place he's
(06:26):
won before, which is Bethpage. And then he's got the
US Open is out of Tory Pines and he's won
there before. And I was all on the wagon and
all ready to go. And then now it's like I
almost want to temper those expectations because now we haven't
seen him play. And when I see the video that
I saw from Golf TV, Yeah, he's walking gingerly and
he didn't look injured. He just looked like somebody that
(06:48):
was sore. So did he work out really hard and
pushed his body the day before and he sore. I
don't know, you could deduct any number of things, but
I just feel like it does knocked the answers down
slightly that we're not going to see him play any
tournament golf whatsoever. From that last part we saw drop
on Sunday at the Masters until he tease it up
(07:09):
at the PGA Championship. Out of golf course that is long,
it is hard, and he has not played a lot
of golf. Well, it's not like he's sitting on his
couch this next four weeks. I mean, he's certainly gonna
play in practice and and hone in Um, you know,
I don't know, maybe maybe that Christmas I want to,
you know, won't quite be there right out of the game,
(07:29):
won't find out. But it's me, I don't know, it
doesn't really matter, Like you know, putting the energy and
everything that goes in to playing a turner for him
these days and play here and you know, I don't know,
does it benefit him? Does it hurt him? I mean,
to me, really all that matters is major championships at
(07:52):
this point. So um, I don't know. I feel like
there's got to be a little bit of Certainly you
don't want to come to a tournament russ And and
having not played any tournament golf. But I think he
also playing pretty well at this point. I mean, he's
regulation or off the charts, Um, how good his iron plays.
So um, yeah, look, he's gonna need to hit some
(08:15):
drivers straighter than he did it Augusta at Death Page
because you hit some of those t shots he hit
like on eleven a couple of days in a row
there the last couple of days in Augusta. When you
hit wayward shots like that at death Page, and you're
gonna be some real trouble. So um, he certainly has
to iron that out. But but I also think we
(08:35):
still need to temper our expectations because I think we
have to remember, even though he wanted Augusta. Um, again,
there are a lot of things that sort of lined
up well for him there. Um, he certainly played well
that week. Of course, that's not particularly peano off the
tea if you do hit it a little sideways, and so,
(08:56):
you know, look, certainly he's the favorite of death page
will be the probably did a favorite going in to
the US Open once that rolls around in June at
Tape of Beach. But I still think we need to
temper our expectations. And I know we can win a
major again, but I don't know that we should expect
him to just continue to win majors. And I don't
know that playing here this week really matters one way
(09:17):
or the other, because I feel like you can just
do all the preppy needs to do at home, and um,
you know, yeah, it's a month away from tournament golf,
but he's done it a few times before he did it,
and you know, coming back to the scandal in two
thousand nine, his first tournament was at Augusta and he
played well. I think he finished fourth that year. So um,
granted that was you know, ten years ago now, but
(09:39):
but I think he's at a place where he understands
his game, understands his body, and it's probably just better
for him to not play this we're certainly neutral, uh,
to not play this week rather than just play for
you know what, just another another PGA Tour victory. I mean,
you know, you have to figure he's gonna get to
sneeze record. That's that's not the one that really matters today.
(10:01):
I think he's got a taste of winning a major
again and and thinks that, you know, eighteen is a
real possibility now right Well, speaking of you know you,
you mentioned the greens in regulation and I want to
give credit to at Justin Ray Golf on Twitter. So
he posted this, and I mean, this stat alone, it
(10:21):
says two things to me. I'm gonna I'm gonna read
it to you, but this stat alone is shocking. Tiger
Woods is thirty two under par in the last three
majors combined. So that would be last year's British Open,
last year's p g A Championship, and this year's Masters,
all three of which he was either he one was
(10:43):
winning at one point or finished second. Tigers thirty two
one to part and the last three majors combined three
shots better than anyone else during that span. The score
of minus thirty two in a three major stretch is
his best since the O six Open, OH six, p
g A O seven Masters, where he was thirty three
(11:05):
under part that's the greatest stretch of his career. Woods
win win, win, second in those three majors. So in
the last three majors he's played basically as good as
he's ever played in his career. Which, yes, it says
that he's playing well, but it also tells you how
(11:25):
great the competition is right now, that even though he's
playing so well, he is still not winning tournaments as easily,
but finishing very near the top. And you mentioned greens
and regulation. Whacker the highest single season greens in regulation
percentage for Tiger Woods on the p G A Tour
(11:49):
two thousand to sev two thousand six, two thousand, seventy
five and this season seventy five six. That's unbelievable that
he's playing at a better clip now than he was
at what we called in his prime during the Tigers lamp.
(12:13):
And that's sort of my point. And I think there's
staffs are a little skewed this year. I mean, look,
you have to remember he's only made six starts all year,
but he look, he's clearly dialed in with his irons,
he understands his swing. It's in a good place. Um.
And and that's sort of my point about not needing
to play this week and just making sure he's at
(12:34):
this point his number one objective really is making sure
he's healthy and feels arrested going into these major championships.
I mean, the game, the game is what it is, um,
And that that run you mentioned these last three majors
is pretty incredible. Like it's very much in line with
what we've seen her mother guys in the in the
(12:56):
past few years. Rory McElroy brooks Kepta. Um, we've seen,
you know, we've seen guys get on these runs where
they win a major, two majors, early case of Rory's
got four majors, UM, where they go on a run
just um in and they have this stretch of you know,
(13:16):
high finishes and and going deep under par and you know,
and that's where Tiger is right now. He's like he's
not the dominant figure obviously that he was in his prime,
even though he's playing maybe as good or better in
some least statistically in some areas, but he's as good
as really anybody else on tour at this point. At
(13:38):
the top of the game at the you know, in
terms of being at the top of the game. So um,
it's an incredible stretch and it will be fascinating. Look,
I think you bring up a good point. I just
I just don't know that it really matters for him
going into the Best Page. But it will be fascinating
to see if there is some residual rust from not
having played a tournament in a month for him, if
(14:00):
that does carry over early rounds of the p right,
you just have to hope this. If there is any rust,
it's rusts that will equal to a par and not
a rust that equals to a bogie or a double bogie.
That he plays himself out of the tournament very early on.
You would hope that maybe he's able to save some
players and get himself going. But I mean, just those
(14:20):
two stats alone, thirty two under par in the last
three Majors and his greens and regulation. I totally understand
where you're coming from in like, who cares if he
plays Quell hollow because he's obviously playing very very well
and understands this golf game. I watched the Golf TV
interview as well, and he said that he is now
(14:41):
able to hit the ball both ways. He can hit
a draw and he can hit that little bleeder fader
faith that he likes to hit. So as long as
he can continue to do both of those, and he
can obviously work on those without playing, I mean I
still like his chances. I just think selfishly, I would
have liked to have have seen him play this week at
quah Hollow, obviously as a and and then too. I
(15:01):
think the reps h would not have hurt him, but uh,
the Zurich Classic. I would like to congratulate, though as
we've kind of moved on, we kind of jumped right
into qual Hollow. I want to congratulate John rom and
Ryan Palmer team event. Do you like the team event
whacker or do you see something else they can do?
(15:23):
Or hammering on it? Yeah, I mean people are hammering
on it, but it eats to beat. They need to
tweak it even further, and maybe they do, but you know,
I don't know. It's look people like to jump on
the fack that it had a fairly weak field this year,
and the bottom line is you're just not going to
get strong fields at every single tournament because there's there's
(15:45):
too many tournaments. And this is my argument all the time,
is that I would rather tour scale back and have
a few left tournaments because I think that would that
would raise the quality of every other tournament on their schedule. So,
um you know. The flip side of that argument is
I understand the not going to said no to the
sponsor that's willing to write them a check, but um me,
(16:08):
this is this is the product of you know, a
BIGGI schedule, particularly this time of year. Guys really have
to manage your time off and um you know, the
field was look at how had a number of notable
European players in it. I think it's a good idea
to have the team format. Maybe they could they could
(16:30):
do away uh with four balls a little more and
and so forth, but it's just um yeah, I think
it's a great idea. Honestly, I like that. I like
the idea. The golf course isn't great, um so maybe
that lends itself to a little lack of excitement, but
(16:51):
I like the idea of trying to be different and
having a team format and trying to engage fans a
little differently that way, because otherwise it is just another
run of the mill PGA Tour event, and um, I don't,
I don't know, what do you think you do? You
think they need to change anything. We're only a couple
of years into this experiment, and I'm I'm only hesitant
(17:12):
to sort of make see somebody make changes like instantly
unless there's something dramatic that really needs to be changed.
This is going to kind of come off as a shocker,
and that I agree with you a dent like we
rarely agree ad on anything, and I do agree with you.
I know they've tried. They've tried the team event thing.
They've tried to walk up music. I think that's cool.
(17:32):
They've done a lot of stuff to try and just
make it a little more interesting and intriguing. And I
think it's a case of if it's a guy like
me that likes golf, you're gonna watch it anyways. And
if it's it's it's never gonna be a major championship.
Like you said, there are so many tour events. These
guys have to uh hunt and and and kind of
(17:53):
pack and pick which tournaments they're gonna play, and they
build them around their schedule. And we just came off
the Florida swing, and we just came off a ton
of great events. But for the Masters, and guys are
getting ready and preparing, Quell Hollow is a big event.
A lot of guys don't like to play a bunch
of weeks in a row getting ready for a major championship.
So maybe they played after playing the Masters, they they
(18:15):
took a week or so off. Now they're gonna play
qual Hollow and they spend the next week getting ready
to prepare for the p g A. So I just
think it's a case of, like you said, there's only
so many tournaments you can play. There's so many, so
many things you can do, and unfortunately that tournament where
it falls on the schedule, UM, I think it got hurt,
much like the valves Bar this year got hurt by
(18:36):
simply just following in the wrong spot, and the same
thing with the Honda. It fell in a bad spot
on the schedule where guys were coming off the West
Coast and coming off a w GC event, and there
was a w another w GC event after. I just
think some of the scheduling issues hurt these tournaments, and
I'm not really sure that there's anything they can do
to fix it. And look you know, the tournament itself
(18:59):
and the surf job looking after players. Guys love New
Orleans how they're treated, obviously, the food and everything that
goes on down there, But when you get to the
golf course, it's it's it's pretty low in terms of, um,
you know, an intriguing golf course or an attractive course
for guys to go play. So to me, you know,
(19:19):
when tour players are putting together schedule, right, they're building
around majors and then they build it around other big
events and and sort of work backwards from there, and
then they tend to play courses that get their eye
or they think of good golf courses or um sort
of suit their games. And it's it's just a very
very bland golf course. I know they're gonna make some
changes there. Um you know, they've already had some renovations
(19:42):
there in recent years. So you know, unless there's a
dramatic change there, I just don't see it happening. Um.
You know, moving the scheduled date, uh might help a
little bit, but it's really never going to draw an
enormous field. And I love the idea of playing the
team event. It was cool to see, like the President's
(20:04):
Cup is is months and months away. It's it's ridiculous
to talk about Ernie Els using it, but hey, it's
kind it's your golf geek, like, hey, let's see how
this works, and let's see what pairings work. And you know,
sure it's a bumber that I'm Scott Jason Damus to
cut uh in the event. So those are two big
names gone right off the top that you'd like to
(20:25):
see play together that hadn't played any events together before.
So um, you know, but to me, the format works,
I think maybe it's like Plas Weeks, the changes here
and there to some of the scheduling and the formatting
in terms of ultimate shot and uh four balls. Um.
But other than that, I think it's a good ideas.
(20:46):
You just have to accept the reality that, um, it
sort of falls into that B flight of tournaments on
tour right. You know, I don't know how much of
it you watched, and I didn't watch a ton of it.
I did watch some of it. Uh, so I believe
it was on it was Friday or Saturday. Uh, Billy
Horschel playing with Scott Piercy there the they were the
(21:07):
defending champions. He's on the se t on the par
three hits his T shot did hit it a little
bit right, I mean, didn't hit it perfect, but it
wasn't a bad shot by any means. And uh, things
got a little heated on the tee. I'm not sure
if you saw this, but here's the audio, which is
the best part of the whole deal anyway. In this, yeah,
(21:30):
they get the funk out of here. That's so that
guy proceeds to get in the water shot. And then
Billy rightfully so he said something to him. Now, no
matter how you feel about using foul language or whatever,
(21:50):
if you go to a tour event and you stand
on a tea box and a professional golfer who is
in the middle of his game, so to speak, hits
the T shot and you yell something like that, you
deserve what's coming to you. And I don't understand why
we I don't understand the getting the whole guy. I
don't understand the mashed potatoes guy. I don't understand the
(22:13):
getting the water even if you don't like Billy Horschel,
I don't understand why people do that. And I don't
know what the fix is to stop it. Well, I'll
tell you why they do it. It's because this is
the ror that we now live in with social media
and everything. Uh, you know, everybody's it's about me, me, me, right,
and and look we this tells you everything you need
(22:34):
to know. Okay, I was at the Masters a few
weeks ago and I heard of Bobba Booie yelled after
a te shot. Of all the places that you at
least expect to hear that yelled Augusta, I'm not sure
I've ever heard of yelled at Augusta. I've covered about
ten or eleven Masters then, and you heard of Boba
someone you Baba booy after a tea shot. So this
(22:56):
is this is just what the error that we're in
and you're both interesting to me is is that this
is gonna get even more fascinating when gambling uh sort
of plays out the way we sort of expected to
play out, where it will be legalized across a lot
of states, and you wonder if that will then impact
(23:17):
or how that will impact golf, because look, golf, uh
is a sport that's bet on in a lot of
places around the world, and now it will be very
easy for people to bet on it here in the States.
As it's happening. Um, there's all sorts of possibilities with this,
and it's a conversation for another day, but I'm interested
to see. Um. I put it this way, I'll sum
(23:41):
it up this way. I think without question, there will
be a day when there's an incident where a guy
has some hasn't choose some on whatever, you know, whatever
the bet is on the action, and he's gonna yell
in someone's back swaying, and he's going to cost that
person a tournament. That's going to happen at some point.
(24:01):
You make a great point, and that's unfortunate. So, UM,
I don't know what the answer is. UM, I don't.
I don't know how you police it. Um. It's tough
spot at being. I don't think it will ever become
the norm because golf being sort of the just the
nature that the game and most of the fans. But
it doesn't take many. It only takes a couple to look.
(24:24):
We saw it there with Billy Wesen another time, Thomas
having a fan thrown out of Phanta Classic. You've seen
it countless countless times and tournaments we see more of
it as it goes on, especially now with Tiger playing
well again and that brings even more people and more
sort of regular fans to the mix. We saw it
with him last year at the end of the British
Elvin if you remember, on the eighteenth told somebody screamed
(24:46):
at his backswing. He blew away right, did not end
up costing him anything. I think he ended up saving
par on that whole, or maybe he missed a short
part but made bogie. Um. But you've seen it with him,
So if you can see it with Tiger Woods, you
see it with Billy Horschel. We've seen it with a
lot of guys. I just don't know what the fixes.
And in Billy's defense, Billy did take to Twitter uh
(25:09):
later on that afternoon instead apologize for the knee jerk
reaction on seventeen. Other than that it was a good day,
he says that they didn't have anything special, just good
solid play. I was looking for something good for the weekend.
That was on Friday, so that was on Friday's round
on seven team when he did it. Billy did apologize.
I don't think Billy odin apology. Um. Whether you like
(25:30):
the foul Lingham or not, in the heat of the
moment um. You wouldn't do that in any other sport,
and if you did, you would get the same reaction
if you were allowed to get that close. Um, if
you were allowed to get that close to football player,
you were allowed to get that close to a baseball player,
you would get the exact same reaction if you did
it to them, as you do get as close to
these guys. But but it's those are different to me.
(25:53):
Those are different animals because you've got twenty thousand people screaming,
so it doesn't even matter. This is a gentleman's game.
You're so supposed to be quiet for tennis. Um, we
see these detent's happened a tennis on occasion, and you
just so you just hope it doesn't cost somebody tournament
is my appointment. But I think unfortunately, at some point,
you know, maybe not this year, maybe not in five years.
I just think at some point, with the way it's
(26:15):
going and the way gambling has become such a huge
part of the sports landscape, that's going to happen at
some point where someone is going to, Uh, it's going
to cost somebody's turn, right, I would agree with you.
So this week we've got the Wells Fargo Championship, and
then we have one more week to a t t
(26:36):
by Ronelson next week in Dallas before we get the
p G A Championship in New York at Beth Page Black.
So this week we still even without the obvious, without
the attendance of Tiger Woods, we still have Jason Day,
We've got Sergio Wicki, Fowler, Roy McElroy, Tony Finale, Justin Rose,
Phil Nicholson, and a still very strong field to watch
(27:00):
this week. Have you heard any good news, because I
know you're there on site, have you heard anything good
going on there? Any kind of equipment changes or anything
going on with any of the guys, Nothing along those lines.
But you're right, this is a loaded field, Um dust
Field really will see between now. Obviously in Death Page
just a couple of weeks away. So I'm curious to
(27:21):
see how Arry McElroy bounced back. He didn't play particularly
well at Augusta, and curious to see he's won this
tournament twice. Um, He's played extremely well here before, so
I'm curious to see how he bounces back. Certainly would
be one of the favorites killing the Death Page, I
would imagine, Um, Jason Day. There's a guy who's defending champion.
(27:43):
Really has been pretty quiet since he one year a
year ago. Um, I don't think he's had a fifty
four whole lead anywhere since his victory here a year ago.
So UM, curious to see what's going on with him.
He played well at Augusta if I'm wrong, wasn't that
his second victory last year? I think he won the
(28:06):
Career Builder and then he won that last year. Yeah,
so he had a really good year last year and
then you're right, was kind of very quiet since then,
so you haven't. So we really haven't seen or heard
much from Jacent Day. He's played well and again played
well with Augusta. Gotting into contention kind of late in
the mix on Sunday, but that weird, sort of wild
finish on Sunday. But yeah, I'm curious to see how
(28:29):
he doesn't. Of course, to Buckleton, I'm sure we'll be entertaining.
He is always he is. Uh, never want for disappointing.
As long as I don't have to hear any more
of the calves Robby. I'm sick of hearing about his
calf workout that and I'll and don't forget on Sunday
at Augusta, we're dropping bombs. We're dropping bombs, you know
(28:54):
the next between Game of Throne memes and Phill's calves.
I've had enough. I just I can't do it. Yeah,
I'm not. I'm not a G O T guy, So
I have absolutely So there's there's no spoilers here. I'm
not a Game of Thrones guy. So another thing we
agree on good not yeah, not at all. Yeah, look
at that. We found two things in this podcast we
(29:15):
agree on one that this this is the first time ever.
Um so yeah, So you know what, who do you
like this week? Do you do you like Jason to repeat?
Is he comfortable at the golf course? Is there's somebody
else you like that's playing kind of hot and you're
expecting to make a run or will we get another
case of I mean, listen, I will never, ever, ever,
(29:37):
ever even attempt to use the c h O word
on Dustin Johnson. However, I hated to see what happened
to Dustin at the RBC at um at Harbor Town
because I was hoping Dustin would win that golf tournam.
It had a pretty good run right there at the
end on Sunday at Augusta. UH got a second place
finish at the Masters and then shows up the Harbor
(29:59):
Town has the fifty our whole lead does not close
it out. Matt Cootcher doesn't win either in ct pan wins.
So do you like a big name? Where do you
like somebody else to kind of show up out of
the woodwork this week? Well, this is this is the
place where a lot of big names have one. UM.
I think you certainly have to look at Rory Um here.
He's played extremely well here. Ricky Fowler's a guy like UM,
(30:21):
I could see him playing well here. Jason Day, you know,
I just don't know. I don't know what to make
of easy. He's having spar injury issues and UM, there's
always seeming to be something going on with Jason along
those lines. So I'm gonna I'm gonna throw if I
was gonna throw some let us down on somebody. I'm
(30:42):
gonna go Ricky Faller this week. I think he's played
well this season, one of Phoenix earlier this year, golf course, UH,
he's played well on. UH typically plays well on. So
I'm gonna go Ricky Fowler and kind of go with
a more of a chalky pick this week. I like
that pick. I like to Ricky fallon pick. He hasn't
he won there before? Yes, yes, yeah, fantastic. Yeah yeah,
(31:07):
it's a good deal. So there we are. So we
got one more week after this week, one more week,
and then we will get to major number two. I
still stand that I think Tiger not playing this week
the rust could hurt him to start the PGA Championship. Now,
there's absolutely no no chance whatsoever he'll play the Buyer
Nelson correct, No, no, no chance. The last time he
(31:30):
played that event was in two thousand five and is
out a different golf course. Uh, he's never played um
at Trinity Forest word is now, so now he will
not be at that zero chance for that happening. Okay,
So the next time we'll see Tiger Woods will be
the p g A Championship. So we'll enjoy the walls
farger this week. I know you're there. I we'll get
(31:52):
some good stuff once again. If you want to hit
us on social at any time on Twitter, the podcast,
at play through Golf. You can hit myself at Froggy
Radio on Twitter or Instagram, or at Brian whacker one
on Twitter and Instagram as well, and the podcast on
Instagram at Playing Through Podcast. We will have another good
(32:12):
Taylor Made giveaway when the p g A Championship comes around. Yeah,
another good giveaway from Taylor Made. So they have been
great friends of the podcast and we are huge supporters
of Taylor Mays Whacker. Thank you so much. Enjoy your
weekend there in Charlotte. Uh, it's too bad the Hornets
aren't in the playoffs. You could, you know, you could
(32:33):
take in an NBA game while you're there, but uh, no,
such luck. Let me ask you a question. Does does
I know Jordan's there in Charlotte? Does he ever show
up to this tournament? No? No, no, he doesn't. Okay,
I don't know if you get a good Jordan's siding
this weekend? All right, Well, enjoy the wells Fargo, and
we will see you next week. Will you be at
the Byron Nelson or will you be back in the
(32:55):
Lovely Confines of South Florida. Uh? No, I will be
back to Lovely Confined to South Florida. And uh but
to reconnect there and and uh, since Tiger is not,
there's no chance to Jordan. That's that's no chance of that. Yeah,
and then you know what I do. I did want
to point out I noticed that you do love to
post pictures of your coffee on Instagram while in South Florida.
(33:17):
Is there a certain place you go every day or
do you are there random places? Well, now now you're
now you're speaking my lineage, because any any writer will
will tell you that we live on coffee. But I've
I've been fortunate to find a couple of places in
South Florida that I should give a shout out to.
Uh Panther Coffee. There's a few few of them, uh
(33:39):
scattered around the town. I would definitely recommend anybody uh
I've been looking for from some of the best coffee
you will have anywhere in the country, I would uh,
and you're in you're in Miami, I would go to
Panther All Day Cafe is another place I like to
UH like to frequent and do some writing and have
some great coffee and some great food. So those are
(34:00):
those are my too go to spots in town. And uh,
I hear there's some good spots up here to Froggy
here in Charlotte. So that's that's one of the things
I always try to do when I'm on the road
is try to scope out some good coffee joints because
uh and then of course uh, later on I scope
out some different different beverages. Yeah. Yeah, we won't get
(34:21):
into that now, Yes you do. You should follow whacker
He's a good follow on Instagram, Pat Brian whacker one.
You'll see us stories in his post. He's always got
good coffee, good food, and he'll have a random adult
beverage or too later on in the evening and he'll
post those as well. So at Brian whacker one on Instagram.
Thanks for your time, buddy. We will talk to you
next week. Enjoyed the Wells Fargo Championship. I didn't. You've
(34:46):
had enough. Now you've had enough, bitch.
