This is w d V Pittsburgh.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
My dad, if you saw anybody with a tattoo above
their shoulders, would be like that guy, I'll never get
a job in a bank. And like now you are
getting bank loans from people who have tattoos under their eyes. Yes?
Speaker 4 (00:33):
Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
My point with that is always like, what makes you
think that guy wants to work in a bank like
that never hurt jelled to me?
Speaker 5 (00:41):
What it's going to break his heart?
Speaker 4 (00:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (00:43):
He always had the vision of being CFO of Morgan
Stanley And now the next tattoo ruined that Plath that's
so normal.
Speaker 6 (00:50):
Now going and you're like, I have a deposit today,
Oh Spider?
Speaker 7 (00:53):
Is that you?
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Brandy Bellman and the DVE Morning Show.
Speaker 5 (00:58):
Abby Today's show's pack. It's too crowded.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
In fact, we should rake it up into a couple
of different shows, maybe three or four podcasts. Is just
to let it go there is we have mister Wednesday.
Jeff Conkle will be popping in today and hanging with us.
Who you just heard it there on that rewe clip.
Also Merril Hodge dang talking Steelers seven forty five today.
Speaker 5 (01:18):
Brett the Diesel Keesel.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
We'll join the program at eight forty five. He's got
a big charity event going on that he wants to
tell you about, but I want him to weigh in
on Spitgate and everything that's going on right now.
Speaker 6 (01:32):
Oh my god, do you think any players ever spit.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
On him before?
Speaker 4 (01:35):
No? I do not.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
I do not because he would be in jail. Yes,
he would have swallowed them. Yeah, like that muppet that
ran out and put people in its mouth, like entire people.
That's how Keesel would have responded to that. Also, PFT
commenters coming up at nine point fifteen today from Barstool Sports,
part in My take and Mike Pursuit of course with
(01:57):
your sports as we get ready for.
Speaker 5 (01:59):
Steelers Bears on this hump day.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
Coach Tomlin talking to the media yesterday, and I think
the quote that stands out is basically the one when asked,
you know what he said to Jalen Ramsey, which was,
you know, essentially I'm paraphrasing here, you know nothing. If
somebody spits on you, you know, do what you gotta do.
I mean, I know, spitting on someone is bad, But
(02:24):
it is interesting to see everybody fall in line with
the oh yes, no, you could stab a man in
the heart if he spits on you.
Speaker 6 (02:32):
The reality in football is you can get away with violence.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
It's in the game. Yeah, and you can't be gross.
Speaker 6 (02:42):
Well, I don't like even thinking about it. With like
a fight with your siblings. They can punch you, yeah,
they can pull your hair, sure, like you can get
a hit in the nuts, like so much is permissible.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
They spit on you. You down and hover spit above
your head and then it dangles. No, anybody with a
big brother has been on the receiving end of one
of those, and it's the grossest thing.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
In the world.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
They're about to die, though. You're just looking up at
contiguous spit coming out of their mouth slowly like a
spider crawling down until it reaches the point that it
weighs too heavy on the bottom end, and the spit
breaks from its contiguous core and then drops down onto
your head.
Speaker 6 (03:29):
There's a line that's crossed with body fluid. They're just
and I don't I again, it's never happened to me before,
but I can just imagine I was trying to put
myself I've put myself in Ramsey's position where I'm thinking,
like just the red like kill bill light would go on.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Yeah, just.
Speaker 6 (03:52):
Like all right, you're now you're about to get it
because it's just it's too gross.
Speaker 5 (03:57):
It's very gross.
Speaker 6 (03:58):
It's like violating in a way, you know. So I'm
just I get it. But with your siblings, can you
remember the last time that one of them hit you,
like like you hit back and it was the last time.
Speaker 5 (04:12):
Oh my god, you're right in the middle, right, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
But like my older brother Charlie still does this thing
where if he wants you to look at something, he
grabs your head and directs so he goes so like
you'll be sitting there at a wedding and then all
of a sudden you'll feel a hand around your neck
and you'll go look and then you're like, yeah, so,
I mean, I feel like I've been manhandled by him,
(04:35):
like and I continue to be yeah, but he's not.
It's just like he's like a mama dog who's picking
up the cubs always by the scruff, okay, you know,
and he doesn't realize I'm fifty st doing that.
Speaker 5 (04:50):
But it's been a minute for sure.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
But I had brawls with my older brother, not Charlie
Gary when we were in our twenties, okay, like like
mid twenties, like throwing punches and you know what happens.
My younger brother and I never really got in too
many fights, like one fight one time and it was,
you know, very quickly snuffed out. But mostly it was
(05:17):
the two older brothers beating the hell out of me.
Speaker 6 (05:19):
That's what I mean, like the two older brothers. But
then did you have to disseminate the ass opens down
or did.
Speaker 5 (05:26):
There's a responsibility?
Speaker 3 (05:27):
But I had a sister, any younger brother was four
years younger than me. We were our families being ripped apart.
It was too I'm like, I also beat them up.
So I was like, I don't get to beat anybody up.
This sucks, But I know, I just try psychological warfare.
Speaker 5 (05:44):
I did that.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
I did.
Speaker 5 (05:46):
Yeah, I definitely tried to torture them.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
But we had the four or the three of us
on the bottom end, had more in common with each
other than the three on the top. There was like
two separate course, so we had the same sensibilities of
like what was funny and what music we liked and stuff.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
Like that.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
But yeah, I don't remember spending. I'm sure I held
down my sister and did a lot of the Yeah,
it's kinda have happened. I'm sure it did. I don't remember.
It wasn't any time recent.
Speaker 6 (06:12):
But okay, my sister is only eighteen months older than me, right, So,
like the torture and like the physical like just ass
whooping is like.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
Very fresh in my mind. Like I don't know when we.
Speaker 6 (06:25):
Stopped actually physically fighting, Like I mean, I know when
it was. But like I used to get put in
chicken wing. She used to do like wrestling moves on me.
And also she was doing like horseback riding at a
pretty young age. So she had really strong thighs.
Speaker 5 (06:41):
She had lowered by, she had side crisby.
Speaker 6 (06:43):
She did, she really did, and so she could put
me in these wrestling moves and she would lock me
in her thighs and just like hold me like I
could not get out. Yeah, but I do remember the
last day that we fought and I punched her in
the ear or like I hit her in a way
(07:03):
that I cupped my hand just correctly, and I put
a hole in her ear drum.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
That's the last time that she ever hit me.
Speaker 6 (07:10):
Ooh, and that was it, like we were heal on
or I think that it did okay, eventually.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Anything that causes an actual surgery or something, that's when
it's like, oh yeah, I.
Speaker 6 (07:20):
Was like but then but then you know, the violence stopped.
That was the day that the violence ended.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
Well, when you talked about the like wrestling moves, it
is remarkable that the couches we had growing up held
up because you should have thrown into those things like
turnbuckles all the time, like it's your furniture damage. Can
you think about it? Well, I mean, I don't think
it was. I mean it was I'm sure it was gross.
(07:46):
You know, there's six kids, so yeah, I'm sure it
was always nasty. But I don't remember it structurally being
messed up. But I do mean I do remember being
thrown into that thing many many times.
Speaker 6 (07:57):
Do you have the wood paneling on the corners?
Speaker 3 (07:59):
No, No, we didn't have one of those, but my
grandmother did, so you wouldn't have done it on those.
Those those ones are those will send you to the hospital.
Those heavy base ya for some reason. You know what
they taste like those cushions. It's a really scratchy fabric
on the top of them. Now these were more like
you know, value city furniture couches that were probably two
(08:23):
hundred and fifty dollars that my dad could just you know,
interchange relatively, you know, easily. But I remember being thrown
into it NonStop. I remember being farted on on that
couch a lot. But boy, the spit. Getting back to
the original point, yes, when it got to the point
of a dangling spit, there was never any just somebody.
Speaker 5 (08:43):
Although food, yes.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
Like if there was like if there were, if you
had like if you were eating potato chips or something
and somebody was being annoy you could, yeah, just do
one of those.
Speaker 5 (08:53):
Yeah, but not at no, No, like.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
Pulling out a big louga and spitting on So that
would be disgusting.
Speaker 5 (09:02):
Not that Jamar Chase lugied.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
And I do think there's a distinction, by the way,
I think in a court of law you would get
less of a sentence for just a saliva spit versus.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
A lugi spit. A lugi spit is taking it to
an all new level.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
There's viscosity exactly, and then a germ factor that goes
above and beyond so Jamar Chase he is appealing. Yeah,
he's gonna appeal because he said that if he wanted
to spit on him, he would have spit in his
face and not on his uniform. Because he kind of spit.
(09:37):
It didn't hit Jamar Chase in the face or Jalen
Ramsey in the face.
Speaker 6 (09:41):
But there was a helmet that the aim would have
had to be very precise.
Speaker 5 (09:45):
Like, come on, I agree. I don't think it's going
to hold up in court.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
I don't think so either.
Speaker 6 (09:49):
Did you like the actual punishment?
Speaker 3 (09:51):
Dold though, fine, because I don't want it to be
two games because I want him to play against the
Ravens the week after that. I completely agree, So fine
with it. And Ramon Foster is one of the governing
bodies determining whether or not that appeal will hold up.
I think one game is going to stick and he's
going to be out next week. Good so, and then
we get to watch him on Thanksgiving Night against the.
Speaker 6 (10:15):
Ravens and I hope he gets banked.
Speaker 5 (10:17):
There's good games on Thanksgiving Day.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Yeah, they're decent.
Speaker 6 (10:20):
I actually this is one of the first years that
I kind of went we were going through, especially all
the halftime shows that are going to happen to I'm like,
this is actually going to be pretty fun.
Speaker 5 (10:27):
Yeah, all right, what's going on over there?
Speaker 6 (10:31):
News This hour is brought to you by your neighborhood
Ford Store, Clouds with brightening sky following that, and then
peaks of sunshine High fifty. As they celebrate their forty
fifth anniversary, Motley Crue announced a massive return of the
Carnival of Sins tour, which will traverse North America in
twenty twenty six, including a stop at the Pavilion at
Start Lake. And that's going to be on July the seventeenth.
(10:53):
The band last visited Pittsburgh in August of twenty two,
where they played a huge PNC Park show with def Leppard, Poison,
and Joan Jets.
Speaker 5 (11:03):
I can't remember did you go to that?
Speaker 3 (11:04):
I definitely did not see.
Speaker 5 (11:05):
Somebody who had. Somebody went to it that we talk
a Madden.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
That makes sense.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (11:10):
The starleag Date's gonna mark the opening show of this
new tour, and it's also gonna feature Tesla and Extreme
as special guests.
Speaker 5 (11:21):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
I don't know what he's got left in the tank,
you know, Convince Neil sing some singers have rehabilitated their voices,
like Roger Daltrey, and then there are guys like who
have real damage, like John bon Jovi, who is trying
desperately and doing like there is no question John bon
Jovi is absolutely busting his ass trying to get back
onto a stage, right Vince Neil after the stroke, I'm
(11:46):
not sure how hard he's working. I don't know how
much it affected his voice. Sometimes strokes have very severe
effects on people's voices.
Speaker 5 (11:53):
He was already.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
Struggling before the stroke, was like, it looks to me
like with him, it's a simple matter of that guy
does not take care of himself and has never tried
to have like a regimen to take care of his voice.
I'm just finishing up Geddy Lee's biography right now, and
(12:16):
the amount of stuff he did for his voice later
in his career, especially which is where all the damage
you know, a cruise and then you really have to
take care of it. I mean, Geddy Lee used to
smoke cigarettes and do cocaine and sing like he would
go off stage and do cocaine and with that nose,
(12:37):
I mean, imagine how much blows a lot of.
Speaker 6 (12:39):
Coke can go up that nose. I didn't know he
was a drug guy.
Speaker 5 (12:42):
He didn't think it was a big deal. It was
of the time.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
It was the seventies and everybody early eighty, everybody was
doing coke everywhere, and they just thought it was like, hey,
this is actually a performance enhancing drug here because touring
is so rough, and so he would like go off
stage during one of Alex's solo just like lean off stage,
and they'd have like a line of coke for him
and a cigarette, and then he would go back out
(13:07):
and sing. And then he was like later in life,
you realize because they were Rush was very young when
they broke, very young, Like I think they had their
first hit when he was like twenty one. Wow, maybe twenty,
so you know, when you're younger, you can abuse the
hell out of it. But he got, you know, comes
around thirty and he's like, you have you can't do
(13:28):
any of that anymore. And it's taking care of your
voice because there's there's sixteen thousand people who paid to
see the show and it is all hinging on your voice.
I don't know if Vince Neil ever took the care
or thought of it that way. And then he just
you know, we've been making fun of his voice, but
like you listen to those the early stuff. I mean,
(13:48):
he could sing, you know when they covered Helter Skelter
on Shout at the Devil win stuff.
Speaker 5 (14:12):
So it's not like you know what I mean. Yeah,
it's not Bruce Dickenson or anything like that, but it's not.
Speaker 6 (14:16):
And he like moves off of the higher notes quickly,
and anybody who does like that effect on their voice
to give it a little bit of scratch. If you
do it without.
Speaker 5 (14:27):
Care, rips up your vocal cords.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
It rips it to shreds.
Speaker 6 (14:30):
And then you get you know, older, and those those
effects just aren't there anymore. And that ability isn't there anymore,
right because you can't vibrate your chords in the same
way anymore.
Speaker 5 (14:42):
How how many dates are on this tour for Motley Crew, Uh.
Speaker 6 (14:45):
Let me see if I have it, you know, and
I don't have it Handy in the.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
Art A lot, it's a lot.
Speaker 6 (14:51):
I can always do a lot because they overdo it.
I mean, even the idea of them doing a residency
was a lot. But him having a stroke, like you,
kind of personified him. While he's never been a guy
who's really taking care of his health anyway, but.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
Also as a vocalist.
Speaker 6 (15:08):
The best way I could describe his approach is I
would not say that he's a curious guy. You know,
there are certain seekers who vocally they always want to
improve and they treat their voice as an instrument. We've
seen video of him backstage of how he warms up
and he gives it one big scream and then he
(15:29):
goes out there.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
Oh is that what he does? So there are thirty
three dates on the tour. I will say though, that
the picture that they're using the promotional picture for this tour,
he looks really thin, and I think that can only
help them.
Speaker 5 (15:43):
So let's hope that they make it through that.
Speaker 6 (15:45):
It'll give him more breath work for sure, which is good.
General on sale is going to be nine am on Friday.
There is a little thing here where each ticket sold
a dollar is going to go to ASAP, which is
an after school art program that Motley Crue is involved in.
They have like a give back initiative, so that another
little bonus there. But Motley dot com is where you can.
Speaker 5 (16:07):
Get and that's starlik.
Speaker 6 (16:09):
Yeah, it is gonna be starlink okay, which, by the way,
you brought up Motley Crue. There was actually this article
that I saw yesterday where Doc McGee was talking about
bon Jovi.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Did you see AIA asset, Doc.
Speaker 6 (16:21):
McGee old Doc McGhee, No, he was talking about I
think this was at the the Kiss Cruz Landlocked thing
that they did. They also did just a Vegas event
recently where he was talking about certain bands that would
have made it and bands that wouldn't per his experience
(16:43):
as a manager, and he said Motley Crue is one
of the bands that would have made it because of
how infectious just the branding was, how visually stunning they were,
and how kids gravitated to it immediately, but that bon
Jovi is a band that never would have made it
today because they don't do three album deals anymore. It's
(17:07):
you've got one shot. You've got to come out of
the gate. You have to have the look immediately, you
have to have a single, you have to play He
actually said that, or I'm sorry, Rather bon Jovi wouldn't
have made it because it took too long for them
to get to slippery one way.
Speaker 5 (17:27):
Well, because it had that had a bunch of hits
on it totally.
Speaker 6 (17:30):
He said that everybody's doing these one single deals now
and they have one hundred and eighty seven thousand songs
that go to Spotify every single day, and it's just
that there's.
Speaker 5 (17:42):
No way how many of those are AI well.
Speaker 6 (17:45):
Great point, you know, So there's just no way for
bands to get through that. And the way I found
the quote here, it said, we used to have an
ecosystem that allowed everybody to live like a reef. The
managers could only do so much and eat so many
of the fish, and the publisher could only eat so
many of the fish. But we kept the reef alive.
And now the corporate world has come in here and
killed the reef. So he's just kind of like, there's
(18:09):
no way. That is a good metaphor for it all,
or analogy or whatever it is. But it's such a mess.
I don't know how it gets fixed.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
Yeah, I don't know. I mean, but I think that
this is going on across the board right now in corporations,
in every industry, is that the technology zoomed past everybody
so fast that we all have the bends from it.
Speaker 5 (18:36):
I'm very worried.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
I'm so worried that there's going to be this like huge,
you know, cratering of it because everyone's talking about the
AI bubble. It's like things are bad enough out there
right now. If then if the rich people lose money,
well then it really gets bad for everybody.
Speaker 6 (18:52):
We'll do like the SNL s get be like I'm
Randy Bauman on the radio.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
Like, by the way, very funny sketch on SNL, one
of the funnies in a couple of years. I hope
that this portends good things for them, because I mean
I always root for SNL, but it gets there. It's
got a lot of hater aid going on right now.
Speaker 6 (19:15):
It always has hater ad every season. Every cast member
on SNL says that they always get hate that they
have the most unfunny season, right that every time, Like
even when Bill Hayter was on that you know, they
always tell you you've got the worst season. It used
to be funny until you guys got here, and then
as soon as time passes like that was actually pretty good.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
I bet that SNL is gonna have their own AI scandal. Eventually,
someone's going to be accused of using AI to write
a sketch, and they might be doing it already who knows,
I don't know. I mean, our industry uses AI all
the time, not just for iHeart though.
Speaker 6 (19:52):
We got we got a corporate email that was sent
that was telling us, hey, just a reminder this company.
Speaker 3 (19:59):
Does not use well very specifically. That was written by
a computer, of course, that is running this entire thing. Yes,
iHeart is run by a big computer with a tie.
Speaker 6 (20:13):
There were lots of misspellings and for some reason that
email did not have his pants on.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
Michael, have your sports as we're getting ready for Steelers
Bears Sunday one o'clock kickoff, Jeff Conko will be joining
us as well. Merril Hodge, Tank, Brett keesel pft Common
are more coming up on DV streaming.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
On all your devices.
Speaker 8 (20:33):
No matter where I go, I always listened to DV.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Comedy, sports and the rock you grew up with. Save
DVE as a pre set on the free iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 9 (20:44):
From the Bridgeville appliance Weather Center known for exceptional service.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
DV sports Steelers choice Mike Persuda has got your sports
right now here. On the DV Morning Show Mike Steelers
Bears Sunday one o'clock and Mike Tomlin were colecting on
the week that was yesterday in his weekly press conference.
Speaker 10 (21:05):
Also the update everybody was waiting on regarding Aaron Rodgers sports.
This hour brought to you by Bridgeal Appliance. It was
an update of sorts from Mike Tomlin yesterday. But if
he's been paying attention to Mike Tomlin at all during
these past nineteen years, you probably weren't expecting a hard
and fast decision he's playing or he's not playing. As
it turns out, regarding Aaron Rodgers and the Bears, it's
(21:28):
wait and see.
Speaker 11 (21:30):
Aaron's got a fracture in his wrist. It does not
require surgery. Really is just about bracing it and securing
it for his comfort and safety. And then it's about
how functional he is. And so we don't have the
answers to that as we say in here today, but
(21:52):
certainly I would imagine we will get some clarity as
we push through the week. I think his experience really
kind of aids in that he's the type of guy
and has the type of profile. It doesn't require a
lot of physical work and an effort to be ready
to play, and that's helpful.
Speaker 10 (22:09):
Yeah, it's been at this a while so he doesn't
need to practice, but he does need to show them
at some point that he can function, and that might
not happen until Friday.
Speaker 11 (22:24):
A little later in the week, we'll take a look
at Aaron, and again, as I mentioned, the variables are
stabilizing it and making sure that he's safe and he
can protect himself, brace himself as he falls, et cetera.
Pain tolerance, but that doesn't seem to be an issue
with Aaron. He wanted to go back in the game
(22:44):
on Sunday, and then lastly, obviously how effective he can be.
And so you know, Friday's probably a big day in
terms of some of those things. I know he's working
his tail off to to be a component of this
this week.
Speaker 4 (23:03):
He and I talked yesterday.
Speaker 11 (23:04):
He expressed that directly, I'm of the mindset of supporting that,
while at the same time, I got a healthy collective
of guys as a team and as a unit to ready.
Speaker 10 (23:16):
And that what includes Mason, Rudolph and Will Howard. Got
to get those guys ready just in case Rogers can't play.
I don't think it'd be the worst thing in the
world at all. Rogers does not play against the Bears,
In fact, I would be in favor of airing on
the side of caution here if that's how you have
to frame it to Rogers, Yes, but I think he
could use a week off quite frankly well.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
I also think that the narrative of he owns the
Bears is not anything that carries weight any longer. I
know he's gone in there and owned them in other
parts of his career, but relative to where he is
in his career now, with the team that he's on
right now, that's a big difference. So I don't put
any weight in any stock in the idea you have
(24:01):
to play Aaron Rodgers against the Bears. Here's my question
to you, Mike. Let's say you put it like this,
if his wrist means one fumble snap exchange, Nope, that's
not good enough.
Speaker 5 (24:14):
Not acceptable. Yeah, that could decide the game.
Speaker 3 (24:18):
And don't you think it's likely that that's where they
are right now? I mean this early on because that
broken wrist. I know Terry Bradshaw played with a broken
wrist for like three weeks at the end of one
of the seasons. But they're all different, right, Like you know,
the Packers Bears thing doesn't apply at all.
Speaker 5 (24:38):
The Steelers are I think one and twelve in Chicago, which, yeah,
do they balance each other out?
Speaker 10 (24:46):
I mean, well, the games they lost to two thousand
and three in nineteen sixty nine, I don't think those
apply either.
Speaker 5 (24:51):
Yes, it's Sunday Night.
Speaker 10 (24:52):
It's it's a two teams that have been turnover reliant
when they're at their best, and flawed, but horseful enough
to win games. I think at close games coming up,
I want a quarterback who's healthy and functional, and Mason
Rudolph is that.
Speaker 5 (25:07):
Yes, he doesn't.
Speaker 10 (25:09):
You don't have to beat Pat Mahomes or Josh Allen
this game. You just got to beat the.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
Bears fundamental, boring football on a do it run the ball,
stop them from running, and make sure they turn it
over more times than you do.
Speaker 5 (25:23):
Is Deander Swift hurt for them?
Speaker 10 (25:24):
Was so they got two runs, they run the crap
out of it. They're very good at running. They'll be
threeish trick plays from Ben Johnson that you can't get
suckered on. And you got to make Caleb Williams stay
in the pocket and beat you on script because he's
probably not gonna be.
Speaker 4 (25:44):
Able to do that.
Speaker 10 (25:45):
Yeah, check those boxes should be good.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
Tomlin seemed ornery yesterday. I mean he always seems ornery,
but yesterday, like to a degree, but yesterday he really
seemed I'm not sure what ticked him off so much.
Speaker 10 (25:59):
I think it's on who's asking the questions. Quite frankly, Yeah,
sometimes he's very welcoming and sometimes he's very kurt.
Speaker 5 (26:07):
That last question, when he's like, what's your question?
Speaker 3 (26:10):
How do you balance that?
Speaker 5 (26:11):
He thoughtfully thank you and then walked off. I'm like, well,
I was done that.
Speaker 10 (26:17):
You know, You've gone on for the required time talking
about how great the Bears are and took a few questions,
filled the allotted TV spot in.
Speaker 5 (26:23):
A twenty eight minute segment. Each and every week have
better things to do.
Speaker 10 (26:27):
It was interesting to hear Tomlin's response about Jalen Ramsey
and you guys were kicking this around a little bit.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
Uh.
Speaker 10 (26:33):
There will be apparently no advice coming from Mike Tomlin
regarding how Ramsey should handle himself if such a situation arises.
Speaker 4 (26:42):
Again, I have no message of someone sits in your face.
Speaker 5 (26:47):
Natural, Yeah, I get it.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
I don't think that's something you admonish him for. Also,
you got away from it. There is a little part
of me that agrees with the caller of like time
and place and having presence of mind. But I think
that everybody agrees. It's hard to keep your head when
somebody spits on you. Yeah, offending like they that player
should be gone as well.
Speaker 5 (27:10):
And I almost feel like it should be.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
If we're talking about yesterday, a special team, We're going
in and just spitting on your best player and then
he just you know, goes rampage on them, and then
your guy gets kicked out, and there no name gets
kicked out. It should be a player of equal caliber.
They should use Chris collins Worth's PFF rating for that.
Oh well, you took the number five guy in his position,
so we're gonna take the number five guy at.
Speaker 5 (27:33):
Your team's position.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (27:35):
I've been thinking about that a lot since Sunday and
then hearing Tom I didn't necessarily appreciate Tomlin's response yesterday.
I think what needs to happen is a conversation with Look,
I get it, I get why it happened. I get
why you did what you did. You can't do this anymore.
Next time it might be a playoff game. Yeah, you
(27:57):
gotta walk away.
Speaker 3 (27:58):
Because he did identify is somebody that you can get
under his skin. You know, everything short of spitting on
him was still getting to him.
Speaker 10 (28:05):
I mean, people had a pretty good idea to begin
with regarding that stuff, but he's just confirmed it.
Speaker 5 (28:11):
His reputation did precede him, no question.
Speaker 10 (28:13):
And you can't count on the referees to I mean,
that was hard to see. I'm not blaming the referees,
no the video, but you know what, she did see
enough of it that it absolutely happened.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
Jeans Sarator said on the show yesterday that they could
have reviewed that if they would have seen the spit.
Speaker 5 (28:30):
Yeah, they could have like queued the.
Speaker 3 (28:32):
Refs from New York and said, like, hey man, he
spit on him. I didn't realize that you can't do
that for anything. You can't do that when you're reviewing
any other kind of penalty.
Speaker 5 (28:40):
Well, they can do whatever they want. They just make
it up as they That is true. But if you're
looking see they're doing that.
Speaker 10 (28:45):
I mean, they have protocols in place for how they're
supposed to use replay assystem that and they go away
from it.
Speaker 4 (28:51):
It just.
Speaker 5 (28:53):
They just do what they do in the moment.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
Well, they always say you can't find another penalty when
you're reviewing one, right if the guy you're you're reviewing
whether they got the line to gain, you can't see
somebody was off sides to be.
Speaker 5 (29:04):
Like it doesn't holding or yes, I have not seen
that happen yet.
Speaker 10 (29:09):
The injury stuff beyond Aaron Rodgers, Alex high Smith limited
at the outset of this week with his peck Keishawn
Williams is in the concussion protocol. Darius Slay Tomlin assumed
or imagined is on the other side of the protocol,
and he said that Slay would start ahead of James Pierre,
but James Pierre will also play. I don't know if
(29:30):
we're finessing how they they're handling Darius Slay here or not,
but I've seen enough of Darius Slay that I would
like somebody else to play. If it's not James Pierre,
then it should be a Sante Samuel.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
A Santa Samuel, I hope is capable as as you know,
they're saying he might be here given the back surgery
and everything. When it comes to Slay and Pierre, while
I think Slay is cooked, I'm not willing to just
crown Pierre as having arrived after one good game.
Speaker 5 (30:05):
Correct and correct.
Speaker 10 (30:06):
I'm right with you, which is why I think Samuel's
the guy long term for that position.
Speaker 5 (30:13):
It's just how quickly can he get up to speed?
Speaker 4 (30:15):
Right?
Speaker 10 (30:16):
Optimistic on Jalen Warren and Cole Holcombe. The Jamar Chase
suspension was upheld by the NFL yesterday.
Speaker 5 (30:24):
Jordan Nelson was.
Speaker 10 (30:25):
The reviewing officer who upheld the Chase's one game suspension.
So hoping nice and rested for the Ravens when he
gets back from that one game.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
Okay, So that's all done with, It's over, okay, right,
I thought that was going on today.
Speaker 5 (30:39):
There is some pirate news if you want to get
to it on the other side of the well, let's
do that. Let's do that.
Speaker 3 (30:44):
Let's take a commercial break because I know Paul Skens
gave an interview yesterday and it's h interesting stuff there.
Speaker 5 (30:50):
Also, abb you will have your news coming up at
the top of the hour.
Speaker 6 (30:53):
If you feel like the cold weather is making you
gain weight, research says it is not.
Speaker 3 (30:57):
Your fault, mister. Wednesday, Jeff Conkle will be joining us
US Live in studio at seven o'clock a little bit
later today, Meryl Hodge, dang Brett Keesel PFT commenter, and
more coming on.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
Take Yourself at Home the Red Carpentreatment Hut. Michelle Michaels
is your host for the All Request the Electric Lunch
at noon.
Speaker 12 (31:14):
Hey, Michelle, I got a good one for the lunch.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
Great ideas on one O two point five.
Speaker 5 (31:19):
Dv go con Chinnar from South Park Mitsubishi.
Speaker 3 (31:23):
The Black Friday Sales event starts now.
Speaker 5 (31:25):
We're offering thousands in discounts. Jeff Conko will.
Speaker 3 (31:27):
Be in studio with us year in about twelve minutes
hanging out. We've got Meryl Hodge, dang Brett Kezel PFT
commenter still to come. Interesting news yesterday that we didn't
get to regarding the Pirates. Mike and I say interesting
because how many times are we going to fall for
the banana and the tailpipe?
Speaker 5 (31:43):
Well? Maybe one more? I mean fall for it.
Speaker 4 (31:47):
Uh.
Speaker 10 (31:49):
I don't know if I'm falling for it, but I
think it's interesting when a national guy with the cachet
of Jeff passing a ESPN wrights several things about the
Pirates in November, including that they were quote primed to
spend on Seattle first basement outfielder Josh Naylor before he
(32:11):
reupted with the Mariners for five years and ninety two
point five million dollars. That they are in on Kyle Schwarber,
who's a free agent who hit fifty six home runs
and drove in a hundred and thirty two last season.
That they are in on a couple of Japanese bats
that are prepared to come across the ocean and maybe
(32:34):
become the next well not the next show, hey Otani
is now because they don't pitch.
Speaker 5 (32:38):
But I don't know. I think about these guys.
Speaker 10 (32:40):
But Munataka Murakami and Kazuma Akamoto.
Speaker 3 (32:46):
Pittsburgh's will mangle those if those oh my god, those
names will get mangled.
Speaker 10 (32:50):
They're both third basement first baseman who reportedly can hit
the crap out of it. And also the Pirates are,
according to passing quote, strongly considering a quote letting nineteen
year old Connor Griffin battle for the shortstop job.
Speaker 3 (33:04):
Well, that that I think they have to do. There
hasn't been even if it's at the kids peril in development.
Speaker 10 (33:10):
There hasn't been a teenage player to debut in Major
League baseball since Juan Soto in twenty eighteen. But all
of this implies that they are actually going to try
for a change. And I wonder if the recent Paul
skeen story, which he apparently denied with Dan Patrick, that
he has told teammates he wants to get traded to
(33:31):
the Yankees and he realizes the tope was here, could
that have possibly been the final embarrassment straw that actually
reached Bob Nutting well? Or is this just all leaking
some stuff saying hey, we're trying, and then they'll leave
it at that.
Speaker 3 (33:47):
Well, first, I'm going to play the Paul Skenes clip
real quick from the Dan Patrick Show, and then I
want to address what you just said about could this
indicate that they're finally trying.
Speaker 5 (33:57):
You don't get used to losing, but you lose a lot.
Speaker 13 (34:00):
Where you go from winning a national championship, now you
know you're losing one hundred games. How does that affect
you or how do you try not to let that
affect you?
Speaker 14 (34:11):
Yeah, I mean it's it's tough. It's a you know,
a huge adjustment because you know, all I've done, the
Air Force is the winningest organization in the world, and
then I got to LSU and I win a national
championship and then obviously I haven't had two great years
team wise in Pittsburgh. So it's been an adjustment. It's
(34:31):
you know, it's tough to not shove up to the
field every day and be better sometimes, especially when it's
you know, we're on a seven eight game skid. I
think it, you know, I think it just comes down
to being a professional. I've learned more and more how
to do that and just be the you know, be
the same person every day. I'm still learning how to
(34:54):
do that. So but yeah, it's I mean, it is
energizing to to think about what it could be if
and if and when we do win. So that's the
that's the thing that gets me out of bed.
Speaker 13 (35:08):
But that's how you get these stories that come out,
because you know, can you put up with this with
your talent? And that's how that report comes out that
if it was a true report or a rumor. But
how do you deal with that that anonymous player says
that you hope to be traded to the Yankees?
Speaker 14 (35:26):
Yeah, I mean I was frustrated for a couple hours
and then and then you know, kind of got over
it and talked to the media later that night. You know,
it is what it is. There's stuff that's going to
come out, you know, good and bad. It's you know,
obviously it's it's not true. I think the hardest part
(35:47):
of leading air Force for me was, you know, we
had just want a conference championship, the first one in
the school's history, and you know, didn't and if we
built that and it felt like there was unfinished you know,
work that needed to be done. So that's how it
feels right now.
Speaker 3 (36:08):
Okay, So he says it's not true now, which he
didn't say the first time, did not and I think
he was kind of coach that, Hey, FYI, you never
denied it.
Speaker 5 (36:18):
So I think that absolutely happened.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
Yeah, I think it's easy for the pirates to look
like they're trying.
Speaker 5 (36:26):
And not be really trying.
Speaker 10 (36:27):
Well, it's big differencely being in on a guy and
actually being in on Josh Naylor.
Speaker 5 (36:32):
Committing the let's say, ninety two point five million dollars, Okay,
do we know that that's what they were committing.
Speaker 3 (36:37):
If they're committing to pay him eighty seven point eight,
that's not going to be close enough.
Speaker 5 (36:42):
They know it.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
And even if they get close to what the Mariners
are offering. He doesn't want to come play here. And
that's the big if he if they did match that offer,
if they were competitive, he doesn't want to come play here.
Why is Kyle Schwarber going to want to come play
for the Pirates?
Speaker 10 (36:59):
Because I think the pitching's real, and I think if
I'm Kyle Schwarber and they're giving me the same money
as somebody else, I might be thinking, Hey, I could
be the guy.
Speaker 5 (37:11):
I could be the piece that changes it. I mean,
I can't imagine.
Speaker 10 (37:17):
I think their pitching is real, and I think baseball
people think their pitching is real.
Speaker 5 (37:22):
So how many bats would it take? And what quality
of bat?
Speaker 10 (37:26):
If you had fifty two home runs and one hundred
and thirty two RBI, what kind of impact does that
have if you had a nineteen year old shortstop who
can actually play.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
I hope, I hope that's all true, Mike, But it
just I have seen this fish before from the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Speaker 10 (37:44):
But have you have you heard this one that they're
actually trying to get these guys?
Speaker 15 (37:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (37:51):
Yes, I don't.
Speaker 10 (37:51):
Recall here and they were in on I'm blanket on
the Mets guy. So no the first basement.
Speaker 5 (38:01):
Oh Alonzo, Pete Alonzo, which they should have been right,
but I didn't hear what I really want.
Speaker 10 (38:06):
Again, we all speculated he'd be a perfect fit, but
I never heard it was even a remote possible.
Speaker 5 (38:11):
I think this is different.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
No, it's not.
Speaker 10 (38:14):
It doesn't change anything. It's just speculation. But again, Jeff Passing,
I believe the initial story that Randy Miller wrote about
Skeens wanting out because I've known Randy forever. He's been
on this show many times. I know how he does
his job, and I believe him.
Speaker 5 (38:32):
I believe that he was told that no question.
Speaker 10 (38:35):
Also, Skeens kind of gave us a little insight there
when he talked about leaving air Force for LSU. If
he loves the Air Force, he wants to go into
the military when he finishes baseball.
Speaker 4 (38:45):
Why didn't you stay.
Speaker 10 (38:46):
At air Force because you weren't winning a national championship
at Air Force. You went to the Yankees of college baseball.
We've already established who you are, and I'm not going to.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
Complained.
Speaker 5 (39:00):
I want a guy that wants to win the whole
thing too. Yeah, and I want a guy.
Speaker 10 (39:03):
Who's gonna be pissed if his organization is not wanting
to win as badly as he is wanting to win. Right,
But I'm saying with this pitching staff, it's all our arguments.
Why don't they just do a little more? Now, this
would be doing a lot more. But you don't have
to go get eight guys. You get one or two,
and then if Griffin is who they think he is,
(39:26):
it's a different ballgame.
Speaker 5 (39:27):
Abby's got your news when we return.
Speaker 6 (39:29):
So if you feel like you're gaining weight as soon
as the weather gets cold, apparently that's not your fault.
According to research and News for Everyone, Paris Hilton is
self made.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
Jeff Conkle joins us in studio with mister Wednesday when
we come back, Merril Hodge, Dang, Brett kezel p andt
comment Oran More.
Speaker 16 (39:46):
It's time for the Steelers Daily Report on DVE, brought
to you by your Neighborhood for its store and Steelers
Pro shop. Get it direct from the team at shop
dot Steelers dot com. Here's Tom Opferman.
Speaker 17 (39:57):
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media yesterday for
his weekly conference, and he shed some light on some
of the injury issues plaguing the Steelers first and foremost.
When it comes to quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Mike Tomack confirmed
that it was a small fracture in his left for
wrist and that the injury will not require surgery. Rogers
has been classified as day to day and will not
practice today, yielding first team reps to quarterback Mason Rudolph
(40:17):
as the team begins to prep for the Chicago Bears.
Elsewhere on the injury front, alex Higsmith, who missed last
week's game with a peck injury, will begin this week
in a limited capacity but has a chance to play Sunday.
The same can be said about running back Jalen Warren
and inside linebacker Cole Holcomb, who coach Tomlin is optimistic
when it comes to their participation Sunday, but will also
begin the week in.
Speaker 18 (40:37):
A limited manner.
Speaker 17 (40:39):
Cornerback Darius Slay has cleared the concussion protocol and will
return to the practice field today and also returned to
his starting spot in the defense. Coach Thomak confirmed that
yesterday at his press conference, and this is in spite
of the fact that cornerback James Pierre has been more
than impressive while filling in in Sligh's absence the past
couple of weeks. I'm Tom Opferman with the Steelers Report.
Speaker 5 (41:01):
Ford f series, a name you'll remember.
Speaker 3 (41:04):
They're the best selling truction of.
Speaker 1 (41:06):
The Don's Appliances Studios where Pittsburgh shops for appliance is.
Speaker 2 (41:10):
This is w D Pittsburgh.
Speaker 3 (41:16):
It's the DV morning show at It's Wednesday, so that
means it's time for Mister Wednesday.
Speaker 19 (41:33):
So not only do you get it at the top
of the hour, you get the happy Mister Wednesday theme
song today Jeff steel Right, this feels better well with
the news that the pirates are all in, why not
just get all jovial and celebrate.
Speaker 6 (41:48):
Yeah, because they're totally different now you can change them
just words.
Speaker 3 (41:53):
It's his behaviors backing it up. Finally, Oh it's different.
Speaker 5 (41:57):
I don't believe it.
Speaker 3 (41:58):
No, I you know, we were talking an off air
about it. This guy has taken so much flak from
fans for so long. Why would this be any different?
How would this straw break this unbreakable camel's back like
years ago? Didn't you know? Because I heard you guys
talking on the way in that they're going to bring
in these these unknown, you know, relatively unknown Japanese pictures
(42:19):
into me. That's like your friends saying like, I have
a girlfriend, but she lives in Peters and you're like, oh, yeah,
show me a picture of her, you know, like it's
you don't believe it until she shows up at prom
basically yeah, and then it's and then it's his cousin. Well,
they always get excited about people that you don't know.
Do you remember Rinku and Dinesh. Yeah, So that's what
(42:39):
I'm talking about. They're like, you gotta see there's a
cricket player. Yeah. They keep trying to find things that
sort of it's an it's an ellipse trying to get
fit into a circular hole and they just hope they
can jam it in.
Speaker 5 (42:51):
Uh on the way for you.
Speaker 3 (42:52):
A little bit later on Merril Hodge talking Steelers, Dang
Brett keiz Al the Beard joins us today to PFT
commenter Steelers getting set for the Bears this weekend. We
were talking about this at the top of the hour
to start the show this morning. Jeff, are you an
only child? No younger sister, youngester? Did you ever do
the dangling spit?
Speaker 15 (43:14):
No?
Speaker 5 (43:14):
Not to her.
Speaker 3 (43:15):
I probably pulled some stuff, but nothing like that because
the repercussions, because the dangling spit you can lose if
you unless you have total control. If that thing falls down,
you're committing assault.
Speaker 5 (43:27):
You know.
Speaker 3 (43:28):
And then I was a little afraid of what my
dad would do if I spit on my sister like
it would be it'd be through the dry wall time,
I think. I think there were many times where I
had to avoid a spit that the you know where
the contiguous line of saliva breaks when it gets too
heavy on the end where I dodged the bullet matrix
style and then it just hits the carpet and you're
(43:48):
like stop, that one was really close, and then another
one home comes down and then like the person with
the spit is also laughing with There was always times
too where that somebody would really get like whatever their
protein structure makeup in their saliva was that day made
their spit like a chameleon tongue and they could like
(44:09):
pick up pieces of paper off of the desk and
then just like flick a paper clip.
Speaker 5 (44:15):
Up or something that would be it.
Speaker 3 (44:17):
It was cool, right, I wanted to see that in
the hallway yeah.
Speaker 6 (44:22):
You just reminded me of somebody in middle school that
used to be able to do the thing where they
could shoot spit like just.
Speaker 3 (44:30):
Good underneath, like you know, like a pencil and you
just see like a buckshot spray of fine mist of saliva.
Speaker 5 (44:40):
Like I think that's called a gleek.
Speaker 3 (44:42):
I've done that to people just talking where you're like
and it just flies out of here and you're like,
oh my god, that's one of those ones you immediately
want to be like goodbye, never talk to me again.
I can't, right, Which is why I always thought that
it must have been interesting being coached by Bill Cower
because the amount of voluntary well, just like the spit
that was coming out of his mouth, he couldn't control that.
It was just it's his jaw makeup. I mean, that
(45:04):
is a reservoir there, that is there's there's two cisterns
worth of uh salivan. So like the amount of gleeking
that's going on as he's yelling, and those guys have
to sit there and you have to determine which one's
intentional and what's not. Because we've now all agreed, even
coach Tomlin has backed it up. When a man spits
on another man, all bets are off. Do what you
(45:25):
think is necessary. Well, when your coach is yelling at
you and he's spitting on you, there has to be
like a line of like, okay, that was too much spit.
You know it's not funny though, because like, if a
man spits on you, you have to fist fight him. But
if a man drools on you, what happens then, well
that's not a fist fight.
Speaker 5 (45:42):
It's intention.
Speaker 3 (45:43):
It's all about so you gotta make icon if someone's yeah,
saliva and eye contact equals fist fight, saliva and and
closed eyes or you know, ambivalent attitude, that's just a
that's just a ah, come on man, give him an
a spit and never mind, uh tea man to spit.
Abby's got your news right now on the DV Morning Show.
(46:03):
Do you know how to gleek?
Speaker 18 (46:05):
I don't think you can make it.
Speaker 3 (46:06):
I don't think you can do it intentionally. Can people
do it intentionally?
Speaker 6 (46:09):
At some point you have to find out that you
can do it though, That's true, Like and I don't
know how you find.
Speaker 3 (46:15):
Out you can do it, and then I don't know
how you practice. It's like flicking your eyelids inside out, like,
at some point you got to try that and see
if it works. Do you ever see the people who
can make their eyeballs shake.
Speaker 5 (46:25):
Yeah, I used to be.
Speaker 3 (46:25):
Able to do that.
Speaker 5 (46:26):
Shuit.
Speaker 3 (46:27):
I don't know if I can do that right now.
You're gonna have to give to talk amongst yourself, and
please don't do it. It will make me.
Speaker 5 (46:32):
Yeah, I can do it.
Speaker 3 (46:33):
I can just check it. It'll make me sick.
Speaker 5 (46:35):
Let me see it. Let's say I have to look.
You have to come here and I have to look
at something.
Speaker 3 (46:40):
Did he do it?
Speaker 5 (46:41):
I mean it's it's it's it's slight.
Speaker 3 (46:43):
I've lost some of my my, my, my muscle memory
in my old age. I haven't had to do that
in a while. No, I'm not offended by that, but
a spit I would be offended by. No, you can
make crazy eyeballs at whoever you want, but you can't
spit on anybody. And Jamar Chase is going to be
sitting out this week. I don't remember who the Bengals
are playing, but two weeks from now, on Thanksgiving, he
will be back for the Thanksgiving Night game. Ravens Bengals,
(47:05):
Great games all Day long Thanksgiving. I'm excited for that
big game for the Steelers. And will Aaron Rodgers be
playing this Sunday? We don't know, Broken Rest. What's your
confidence level in Mason? If he's in, I'm all in
on Mason. I think I have established myself as team
Mason for two years agoing now that I.
Speaker 5 (47:26):
Didn't think we needed to bring in Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 3 (47:29):
I'm still of the opinion that he may be writing
the greatest story in all of NFL history. Like if
you look at his like you know the bullet points
of his story. If he can turn this around and
do something in the postseason spectacular, this might be the
greatest character arc in all of all of NFL history.
(47:49):
But he is in the sweet spot right now. He's
in the Charlie Batch spot, which that much of you
expectations are low. You deliver, you get the w you know,
if he gets to the postseason again, which he did
last year, and uh or was it last year?
Speaker 4 (48:05):
Two years ago?
Speaker 5 (48:05):
When did we lose to Buffalo? I don't even know.
It's all the whole Kenny Pickett era.
Speaker 3 (48:11):
Anything post COVID is all one big, very traumatic I
think it was last year we lost a Buffalo in
the first week. All right, that team we didn't have
a lot of confidence in. Well, now we got DK Metcalf,
you know, and uh Jalen Warren.
Speaker 5 (48:26):
Seems to be I think he's a premier back.
Speaker 3 (48:29):
The defense is supposed to be historic, and they keep
adding these, you know, legendary caliber players that they're somehow
pulling off a scrap, people like a Sante Samuel and
uh Dugger in the secondary. So yeah, but we're we
have a lead quarterback who's on a subscription plan for Adville.
That's the problem. I think that if he can take
(48:50):
a snap, he's going to start this weekend. But yeah,
but but if it if it hurts, and there's a
potential of him fumbling in exchange, you gotta said them.
But that's what I'm saying, Like, do you want him
out there at eighty percent? No?
Speaker 5 (49:03):
Why I don't?
Speaker 3 (49:05):
Don't. I don't.
Speaker 6 (49:06):
I say he'll get better, you know what.
Speaker 3 (49:11):
Men hail already. I'm tired of that. Stop showing up
half healed.
Speaker 6 (49:18):
I also just personally didn't think, like I thought everybody
was a little nonplussed about Mason coming in and doing
as well as he did. I thought everybody kind of
was like, oh, yeah, that's yeah, that's what Will's garbage.
Speaker 3 (49:29):
I'm kind of like. But but also he was the
second half.
Speaker 6 (49:34):
I know, but he went three for three on third
down conversions on his first drive, and he connected with
Metcalf more than Rogers did.
Speaker 3 (49:41):
It was an OPI, but he connected with them, Like
why did Why did he not get as much of
a hero's welcome as eyes. I'm saying though, is that
he has always been like there's been this like underlying
like sort of like little disdain for for Mason.
Speaker 5 (49:58):
I don't know why.
Speaker 3 (49:58):
I don't think you know why. Because he came in
to replace Ben. We've never really quite got over the
fact that he was the understudy to one of our
favorite quarterbacks. Wasn't he didn't he kind of place?
Speaker 4 (50:09):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (50:09):
Well, Ben was not thrilled about that because he thought
they wasted a draft choice because he had plenty of
years left and so he kind of redheaded stepchild.
Speaker 5 (50:17):
Yeah right, Mason, stay up.
Speaker 3 (50:19):
And that didn't help his I mean, I don't know
that it hurt his development at all, but it didn't
help the perception with fans. And he look, it took
a while for him to actle me. But when he
came in last year and won those three games in
a row, it changed everything. And there were a lot
of people saying at the beginning of last year that
he was the best quarterback on our roster with you know,
(50:41):
Mitch Trubisky, Jennie Pickett. So there was a faction of
people who thought, like, this is the most talented guy
we got. Is he good enough caliber NFL quarterback to
lead you to the playoffs and then a championship? I
don't know, but sometimes that takes experience, and we see
that all the time. He appears to be getting better.
And if you look at the film, and when I
(51:02):
say look at the film, I mean the stuff that
people post on Twitter that I happen to scroll by,
he's standing much taller in the pocket than Aaron Rodgers
has been. Aaron Rodgers is skittish right now. He is
looking to get killed because he's been getting killed. It
also hurts a lot more when you're forty one and
you have already existing injuries. So he's here in footsteps,
(51:23):
he's seeing ghosts back there a little bit right now.
Speaker 5 (51:25):
Mason Rudolph is not doing that.
Speaker 3 (51:28):
Is he as good as Aaron Rodgers are processing, No,
can we win it? Win this game with Mason Rudolph. Absolutely,
I'm gonna gleak all over the place. I'm getting very excited.
What do you think about this? Let's throw Will Howard
in there for a quarter and just just no, let's
just get it over with, get it well, like shudor Sanders,
like yes, the life, Hey, this is what you want.
Speaker 5 (51:49):
For That's exactly right.
Speaker 3 (51:51):
Let's just get it over with and maybe he'll surprise us,
but maybe not, and then we'll then we'll then that'll
close that chapter for a little bit. Now, I mean,
you know that just shuts up a few voices right now,
there is those voices need to be shut up, I think,
no question. I mean, he's had zero reps, he's had
zero experience.
Speaker 5 (52:09):
That's what makes that fun.
Speaker 3 (52:11):
Sure, you'll you know what, I'm all for letting him
play the entire preseason next year with whomever they have
to negotiated the draft. And I'm not saying that dude
might not one day be a capable NFL quarterback. He's
just not close to being the best on the roster
right now. Listen, he's tall and he's handsome, and he
seems nice, so that's why people people seem to like him.
(52:32):
Nice guy tricard National Championship winner. So I think that
that adds.
Speaker 5 (52:37):
Adds to it.
Speaker 3 (52:38):
Plus there's a ton of Buckeye fans in Pittsburgh and
that has a lot to do with it too. Really,
you think there's a lot of Ohio State. I mean,
I know that we butt right up against them, but
I'm surprised. I don't I never get that sense. Yeah,
I think they're well, I think there's a don't forget
there's a lot of Steeler fans in that yes, going
to Columbus, you know what I mean. Like, I think
there's like between Cincinnati and Cleveland, there's a part of
(53:00):
Ohio and the big Steeler fan contingency. So that now i'mwithstanding,
I'm all for number two being in under center this weekend.
I just I'm fine with it. Let's let's just keep
the train rolling. I feel like this team has been
so schizophrenic you don't know who you're dealing with on
a day to day basis. And I feel like, actually,
now our inconsistency is consistent, and that's but if you remember,
(53:22):
that's sort of what made the last couple of seasons.
I know they've been disappointing, you know, but they have
been fun and there's been lots to talk about, and
they have been engaging, and there's been lots of stuff
like that. From a drama stand from a drama perspective,
never disappoints on the sofa turned from like the Sopranos
to the Real Housewives, and the ratings are fine, like
so it doesn't really matter either way. I'm entertained. Abby's
(53:43):
got a news update for you. Now, what's going on.
Speaker 6 (53:45):
There's this hour brought to you by Keystone Basement Systems,
Wet Basement, Keystone Basementsystems, dot Com Clouds, followed by a
brightening sky with peaks of sunshine today high fifty. These
last few months of the year are filled with leftover
Halloween candy and then ravy and then sweets. But maybe
that weight that we're gaining isn't our fault. The site
(54:06):
Study Finds has an article on how cold weather makes
us crave food. Some of it comes down to our biology,
not our lack of willpower. The average person gains one
to two pounds during the coldest months of the year,
and it's partly because your body just wants to Cold
weather triggers hormonal changes that make you hungrier and prevent
(54:28):
you from feeling full. Now, the lack of sunlight doesn't
help either. It lowers your dopamine and your serotonin levels,
and it makes you crave more carbohydrates.
Speaker 3 (54:38):
So it's not the pillowcase full of twigs that are
still staying in my house that I'm walking by every day, dude,
slamming like four or five of at a time. That's
what you're telling me. You telling me that's natural. See,
what I take away from that story is that it's
proof positive of the thing that I always wondered if
there was any truth to, which is why why am
I craving soup? Why am I craving a stew? Do
(55:00):
I want a big hearty meal on a Sunday night?
Speaker 5 (55:03):
Oh? I want pot roast and potato?
Speaker 3 (55:05):
And is it just the excuse I give myself to
eat like a pig, like, well it's cold, I better have,
you know, pork and sour kraut and mashed potatoes and
like stuff that just sticks to you. Everything that you
said right there is served piping hot though.
Speaker 5 (55:20):
I think that's a temperature thing.
Speaker 3 (55:22):
Mashed potatoes, piping hot stew, piping hot. Those things warm
your insides. I think that's the craving that you're having
right there, is to get internal warmth. My dad would
make summer turkeys. Oh he loved turkey dinner. He thought
it was the greatest thing in the world. And once
he taught himself how to do it, he would make
in July. He'd be like having turkey on Sunday, turkey
(55:43):
stuffing mesed potatoes. See, I feel like that works with
a big family. Like in my family, we would be
eating turkey for four and a half weeks and at
that point like that, after that, that's no good. But
gravy once the weather. There must be something to the
dopamine part of it too. I believe that gravy serves
the same purpose as meth I think that it really
gets you moving in the right direction somehow. Is there
anything that can Is there a methadone? Is there anything
(56:04):
that wean you off of gravy, like clarified butter? I
don't know, Like what's d I don't know, But couldn't
that be nostalgia too? Like you associate fall and winter
with the ghost of Christmas? Past or something. I think
that taste and smell have as much of a nostalgia
poll as anything. And Sundays during football season, and I've
(56:25):
said this many times before. I would hear the voice
of the four o'clock game guy doing the Raiders in
the Broncos charge.
Speaker 5 (56:34):
I don't remember it was Charlie Joyner who it was,
but that.
Speaker 3 (56:37):
Voice I would hear, and I would associate it with
something was in the crock pot, and that means when
we're getting rolls and apple sauce and like all that stuff.
So I think there is an element to I'm watching
a four o'clock game. It's dark outside already, because it
is always Once it shifts to now it's dark outside,
and then I start to crave all of those same
things that I grew up with on Sunday, which is
(56:58):
the big Hearty meal, which is probably the only time
my family ate together. I was on a Sunday night.
See Abby, we're just eating our childhood. That's really this.
Speaker 6 (57:06):
That's really just trying to be happy.
Speaker 3 (57:07):
Just trying to get it down the hatch.
Speaker 5 (57:09):
That's all I do. Like that, she pointed out.
Speaker 3 (57:11):
She's like, men, you just heal that we actually are
taking our emotional cues from how we've been told to
perform in sports.
Speaker 5 (57:19):
Our entire life. Just rub dirt on it, keep moving forward.
Speaker 3 (57:23):
I always laugh when when women are like, like, you
know how they act when men are sick. You know,
they're was just like, oh, you're being a big baby,
you know, being a big baby. But it's the dichotomy
between women also being like I just want you to
be vulnerable. I just want you to like, why don't
you show me some vulnerability? And then the second you're like,
my throat.
Speaker 6 (57:41):
Hurts, like, oh, I want you to be vulnerable, just
not more vulnerable than.
Speaker 3 (57:47):
Yes, that's a good point. Okay, there we go.
Speaker 4 (57:49):
You got them.
Speaker 6 (57:50):
Which, by the way, the gravy thing, because I don't
know what it is about gravy that's so wonderful. Like
if I ever have an occasion to get a death
row meal, which we'll see how it goes in terms
of having like, you know, partners that are sick or whatever,
and like let's see what a woozy is. But if
I ever have a death row meal, it's probably gonna
(58:10):
be mashed potatoes and gravy. Hines now has a squeezeable
gravy bottle.
Speaker 3 (58:17):
You before your pass judgment on this all right judgment,
I would just say that there are some really good
pre made grav's out there. The Gobble Rito at Mad
Max amazing that gravy. I mean, I can't imagine they're
(58:39):
making that great like everyone is being made like a thing.
They're not making turkey stock everybody.
Speaker 5 (58:44):
I don't know. Maybe they are saying.
Speaker 3 (58:45):
I don't know, but that whatever that gravy is, it
might be the best gravy I've ever had. It's incredible,
But there's also the existing hinds. That's like in a
it's like turkey gravy in a little jar. Yeah, in
a pinch, dude, it works. You can just dress it
up a little bit, it's still gravy. It was better
than anything they had at Boston Market. I think, just
(59:06):
what do you do though? Do you microwave the bottle?
Gravy has to come out hot, It has to come
out hot, slow pot, slow pot. Oh see yeah, I'm
not envisioning that you squirt it over poutine, like you know,
it's not a table side condiment like that's got to
get brought out on a in a gravy boat. That
(59:26):
they have a whole thing a gravy boat. It's a
vessel for the gravy.
Speaker 6 (59:30):
This okay, so let me read no know what the
food has a Heines's Laws first ever squeezable gravy bottle
featuring its home style turkey gravy, and it looks like
it's a bottle of stadium mustard. They say it's specifically
for sandwiches, inspired by the Friends episode where someone steals
(59:51):
Ross's moist maker sandwich which had which was made from
Thanksgiving leftovers, with the secret being a gravy soaked sla
of bread in the middle. It's available exclusively on Walmart
dot com and to get one, you need to buy
a jar version for a dollar eighty eight, and then
they include the limited edition Hines Leftover Gravy Kit with
(01:00:12):
the squeezable version and a recipe card gravy Kit.
Speaker 5 (01:00:16):
Never go anywhere without your gravy Kit.
Speaker 3 (01:00:18):
I just like the theory that there's a at some point
between Walmart and Hines, there was an exclusivity contract that
had to get decided between who's getting the rights to
this gravy thing. Where can we find the biggest ven
diagram of turkey gravy consumers who might drink it right
out of the bottle right.
Speaker 6 (01:00:40):
Walmart put it in a syringe clouds followed by brightening
sky and peaks of sunshine. Today it is going to
be high of fifty.
Speaker 5 (01:00:48):
Turkey gravy is the best gravy.
Speaker 3 (01:00:50):
Oh, definitely the best. There's pork. You can make pork gravy.
You make a pork loin, put a little soy sauce
and orange juice, and the crockpot reduce that if you
can do. That's another thing though, Like that, it's like
glaze almost, isn't it. I consider it gravy. It's made
from drippings.
Speaker 6 (01:01:04):
Turkey gravy delivers on the salt. The pork gravy is
the fat.
Speaker 3 (01:01:09):
Yeah, well I like that.
Speaker 6 (01:01:11):
And then chicken gravy, like is there. I've never had
chicken gravy just pass really thin thin. It's like a
broth almost. I don't know, but you guys put a
ton of flour into it.
Speaker 3 (01:01:21):
This whole conversation is making me want an open faced
turkey sandwich at a diner somewhere very like stat like
That's what I'm having for lunch.
Speaker 5 (01:01:28):
I've now decided with French fries with gravy on the
French fries.
Speaker 3 (01:01:32):
Yes, stipid mm hmm. Gravy fries are the best, all right.
Mike's got your sports coach Hamlin talking yesterday. He was ornery.
He was ornery yesterday. Someone someone did something to his weedies.
I'm not sure who. But he talked about his advice
to Jamar Chase, which or rather Jayalen Ramsey after being
spat upon by Jamar Chase, which essentially boiled down to
(01:01:55):
do what you gotta do when somebody spits on you.
Brett the Diesel keyslill join us at eight forty five.
We'll ask him his thoughts on that, and he's got
a really cool charity promotion to talk about. Merril Hodge
day seven forty five and PFT comment are coming up,
mister Wednesday. Jeff Conkle hanging with us as well. It's
the DVE Morning Show.
Speaker 7 (01:02:12):
Buckle up, DVEs. Chad Tyson has your soundtrack for the road.
He's got a reloaded cut from the DVE Morning Show
Sports and a Workforce commercial three hour at three after
Newlands with Chad Tyson on DVE from.
Speaker 9 (01:02:28):
The Bridgeville Appliance Weather Center known for exceptional service Bridgeville
Appliance is looking for exceptional.
Speaker 5 (01:02:33):
Serce that brought to you by Bridgeville Appliance.
Speaker 10 (01:02:36):
It's wait and see for the Steelers regarding Aaron rodgers
potential availability on Sunday in Chicago, but Mike Tomlin knows
Mason Rudolph will be ready if called upon, as he
was again last Sunday.
Speaker 11 (01:02:48):
I can't say enough about Mason Rudolph. Although we're used
to it, it's still appreciated. He's proven over his time
here that he's capable of coming in and playing winning
football off for us.
Speaker 4 (01:03:01):
And that's no small task.
Speaker 11 (01:03:04):
When you're preparing during the course of the week as
a backup, you have a limited number of reps. Usually
the guts of the plan are geared toward the specific
talents of the starters, and so you may get some reps,
but it might not be quote unquote plays that are
you know, perfectly in your wheelhouse. He's always found a
way to manage those challenges, to to remain confident, for
(01:03:29):
that confidence to ooze out of him and be a
catalyst for a collective performance.
Speaker 4 (01:03:34):
And we got that.
Speaker 10 (01:03:37):
The confidence oozes out of him. That's remarkable and it's
probably true.
Speaker 3 (01:03:43):
I don't think literally, but yeah, I don't think you
have a mustache like that unless you are confident. You
need to be pretty sure of yourself.
Speaker 18 (01:03:49):
To be rocking that.
Speaker 5 (01:03:49):
I think that is the ooze, that is this that's
coming out. It's Harry Oohs. Quarterback Will Howard was only.
Speaker 10 (01:03:57):
Recently added to the Steelers active roster from injured reserve,
but he'll be warming up in the bullpen this week
as well.
Speaker 11 (01:04:06):
Who's been with us the whole time, and so he's
a sharp guy. Like the general trajectory of his work,
he's certainly in the position that he's in doesn't get
a lot of quote unquote stealer reps. But the reps
that he does get he has taken advantage of. And
I'm sure they'll be upticking those opportunities this week.
Speaker 10 (01:04:25):
Well, Howard one snap away from the President's goodness, Rogers
is unavailable.
Speaker 3 (01:04:30):
I wonder what kind of package they have ready for
that circumstance. Hand off, hand off, hand off, bootleg, jumbo
hand off, bootleg, let's.
Speaker 10 (01:04:39):
Try a handoff. Hey, what do you think about a handoff?
Whatever we run yet.
Speaker 5 (01:04:42):
I think they should be doing that with Aaron Rodgers.
But they should be running the ball more.
Speaker 3 (01:04:47):
Yes, this is they started to. I think he had
ten carries before he got hurt Jalen Warren. This next weekend, it.
Speaker 5 (01:04:52):
Seemed like they were starting to lean into that.
Speaker 10 (01:04:54):
And traditionally this is the time when you do it,
when when the weather gets.
Speaker 3 (01:04:57):
Worse and gravy sounds attractive, it gets the uh it's
gravy ball later latter stages of.
Speaker 10 (01:05:03):
The season, and uh, you just got to start grinding
it out.
Speaker 5 (01:05:07):
Uh, we'll see what. We'll see you up.
Speaker 10 (01:05:09):
Friday is probably when the Rogers situation will resolve itself
one way or the other. If he can practice and
and and they like what they see in terms of
his ability to protect himself and function with whatever brace
they come up with for his wrist.
Speaker 3 (01:05:24):
And like we were saying earlier, his past history against
the Bears and his success in Chicago doesn't mean anything,
doesn't mean a thing.
Speaker 10 (01:05:31):
Although it is fun to torture Bears fans, Yeah, very true,
but also, let's win the game.
Speaker 5 (01:05:38):
You know he could do the independence They thing. Hello, boys, I.
Speaker 3 (01:05:46):
Don't know if there's anybody on this team that would
have the fear of God struck into them. Seeing Aaron
Rodgers bounce onto that. Yeah, you know what I mean.
It's like I think there's been enough turnover that nobody
is gonna shiver.
Speaker 5 (01:06:00):
I'll tell you who's shivering.
Speaker 3 (01:06:01):
Is anyone who has to cover Darnell Washington this week
is I would be uh pooping in my pants every
single night leading up to that one. I want it
to be mainlining creatine. I'd be taking my meta musil.
Any powder I could take, yeah, well that would that
would help the first barbary any any supplement I'm taking
if I have to get choke slammed by Darnell Washington easier,
(01:06:24):
I guess yes, did that. But if you go down
to the Strip District right now, I want to see
the Darnell Washington shirts that are being cranked out right now.
Speaker 5 (01:06:32):
I'm sure that there's some hilarious ones.
Speaker 3 (01:06:33):
I know he was Kyle Brandt's Angry Run of the
Week and they have a te he's selling a T shirt.
Speaker 5 (01:06:39):
They sell a T shirt every.
Speaker 3 (01:06:40):
Week with the Angry Run of the Week. I didn't
realize that I've showed you mine, Randy. I have the
one where a couple of years ago, Jayleen Warren and
Naja Harris were co winners. Oh, sharing the tit I
warrant I warned to work that playoff game against Buffalo
you were talking about I wore for that game.
Speaker 5 (01:06:58):
I'm sorry, I don't remember that.
Speaker 3 (01:07:00):
If you're asking who's the market for this, you have
to I'm a I'm also somebody who bought a Chase
Claypool shirt the day after his four touchdown performance. So
I still have my Maple Tron logoed shirt from Chase
Claypool LLC. Oh yeah, Chase Killaypool dot com. Chase Claypool.
I went straight to Chase Claypool dot com.
Speaker 5 (01:07:20):
Oh my god, that's I thought.
Speaker 3 (01:07:22):
I was all in. There's a market out there for
for for one off T shirts, believe me.
Speaker 5 (01:07:27):
Yeah, it's in Africa.
Speaker 3 (01:07:29):
Yeah, it's true.
Speaker 10 (01:07:31):
And that's where all the teams that didn't win the
championship or all their teachers Buffalo Bill's Super Bowl chips,
lots of Buffalo Bill Super Bowl championshirts there.
Speaker 7 (01:07:40):
Uh.
Speaker 10 (01:07:40):
The Jamar Chase suspension one game has been held up
by the NFL. Jordan Nelson was the hearing officer in
that case.
Speaker 3 (01:07:49):
Also super funny because it's like NFL court. It sounds
so official. Three time Pro Bowl watching.
Speaker 10 (01:07:57):
Oh do Beckham Junior officially reinstated by the NFL yesterday?
Speaker 5 (01:08:02):
Okay, what can you do?
Speaker 3 (01:08:03):
Did we tell a free agent didn't we not want
him last year already?
Speaker 10 (01:08:06):
Maybe I'm just saying right now, yeah, turn over every
frigging rock.
Speaker 3 (01:08:10):
That you can say they got MVS. They're collecting rocks.
Like you know who collects rocks, that person a geologist.
Speaker 10 (01:08:19):
You ask yourself one question, can this make them better
at wide receiver?
Speaker 5 (01:08:23):
The answer is maybe we can't make them worse. That's
for certain.
Speaker 3 (01:08:27):
I feel like that works only if Rogers is fully
at the helm, at the height of his powers. He's
the only lion tamer that contain that that lion, and
I mean the dude is extremely talented, but literally, his
reputation has preceded him every single stop on his career.
Like you need somebody that can break that stallion down.
Speaker 5 (01:08:49):
He might have some gas left in them.
Speaker 10 (01:08:50):
I'm not promoting it, I'm just saying if they don't
kick the tires, they're not doing their job.
Speaker 3 (01:08:54):
Well, Ad pointed out earlier, Mason went out and found
DK right away. And it seems to me that we
all thought Aaron Rodgers DK would be on the same
page on everything, and that is just not the case
at all.
Speaker 5 (01:09:05):
Lately they have not been.
Speaker 3 (01:09:07):
I don't think if you look at the entire season,
they've only had a couple of connections that looked like
what we thought it was going to be every Sunday,
and it's been the opposite. Those are the outliers, the
times they've connected, and even a couple of those were
DK yacking it up like it was like a you know,
eight yard pass and he got twenty yards.
Speaker 10 (01:09:27):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, But that that's a quarterback stat because
when you hit the guy and he's yeah, that's true,
and he's running, then he can do that.
Speaker 3 (01:09:36):
That's true. All right, Well, let's bring Meryl Hodge into
the conversation. We'll to do a quick break. We'll come
back with Meryl, but Abby you'll have your news at
the top of the hour.
Speaker 6 (01:09:43):
More problems and very expensive ones for the Pittsburgh Mills
and Dave Mustain of Megadeth wants their last show to
be in outer space.
Speaker 3 (01:09:51):
Brett the diesel keysel at eight forty five PFT comment

Speaker 5 (01:10:07):

Speaker 4 (01:10:52):
We've met.
Speaker 5 (01:10:58):
Your radio home in Pittsburg.
Speaker 3 (01:10:59):
Steel Airs on two point five DV e our next guest,
brought to you by Castle Rock, Hormone Health and South
Hills Kia. South Hills Kia has the Ride and a
price you will love, Ladies and gentlemen. Merril Hodd Jonings
right now, so mer.
Speaker 18 (01:11:14):
Good morning.
Speaker 4 (01:11:15):
Has everybody doing?
Speaker 3 (01:11:16):
I mean we're doing all right. A nice win over
the Bengals. Things went our way. It's kind of strange
the way that second half unfolded. I would have liked
to have seen the offense be a little more productive.
But you know, look both times that Mason Rudolph had
the ball in the second half, the engineered scoring drives,
it just ate up a lot of the clock. We
won the time of possession by five seconds or whatever
with ten seconds.
Speaker 5 (01:11:36):
That was nice for once. But my question to you
is this.
Speaker 3 (01:11:41):
How did you think the Steelers looked with Mason Rudolph
at quarterback?
Speaker 18 (01:11:45):
But it didn't back Actually, I thought Mason's played really
well once you settled down, got you know, I got it.
Speaker 4 (01:11:50):
I think it's hard.
Speaker 18 (01:11:51):
For people to understand, you know, backup, they don't get
a lot of reps like you have to be You
have to pay attention, you have to like to really
be a good backup. You got to be a real pro.
I mean, have you have to do work on the side.
You have to walk through everything in your head because
you don't physically get to do it. So any of
that time somebody enters, you know, in a backup role,
(01:12:12):
especially quarterback, you can always tell what kind of pro
they are. And and I think Mason's always done a
great pro. I think He's always been prepared. You could
tell he was prepared. I thought he was sharp once
he settled in many moves offense efficiently. He functioned how
he wanted him to function. He finished the game off
like you needed to finish. He did everything you would
(01:12:34):
want your backup to do. In a scenario like that.
Speaker 3 (01:12:38):
It seems like Aaron Rodgers is still not comfortable or
as comfortable as I was hoping he was going to
be at quarterback, particularly as it pertains to his relationship
with DK.
Speaker 5 (01:12:49):
We were just talking about that before the break.
Speaker 3 (01:12:51):
What do you think it is that it's keeping them
from having the connection we had hoped we'd see.
Speaker 18 (01:12:57):
Yeah, well, I know what you're talking about. Is not
this this systematic rhythm that you're used a lot of
passing games?
Speaker 4 (01:13:06):
You know?
Speaker 18 (01:13:06):
Right now and still I think that's just a large
product of just everybody's still new, you know. And now listen,
everybody tries to you know, take DK away and then
they try to double him. They do that their very best.
They're going to neutralize that guy. That's gonna be that's
a guarantee going into everything. That's why, you know, moving
him around a lot is what you gotta do, and
that's always a challenge. It's not necessarily easy to do that.
(01:13:30):
And then they've been inconsistent in other spots, you know,
tight ends have you know, have played a big role,
and when they're part of it, they're better, you know.
I think that in the passing game, you know, we've
been inconsistent upfront though, and I and then that that
that's I think where some of it lies, not all
of it, because actually I thought Aaron, you know, he
missed and throws or missing reads that he normally doesn't
(01:13:53):
miss in the first half of the Cincinnati game. And
I sense that there's times he's playing faster than he's normal.
He already plays fast, but he's playing faster. I think
he wants to play and a lot of that is,
you know, some pressures that he's constantly getting especially from
the left side, you know, and that plays a role
(01:14:15):
in it. It's it's not slowly that because you know
Aaron has you know, there's moment for he can play
better too. And I'm there's no but knows that more
than him being around for as long as he's played.
But I still think that though. You know, the running
game is getting so much better, and I think the
better that gets, the better they're getting a passing game,
(01:14:37):
you know, And the more they incorporate the tight ends,
the more you can control the mills of the field,
the more that does create opportunities on the perimeter. That that
is just a known fact in the NFL. Like if
you can control the hash man the hash area, you
can control the perimeter and you have a great chance
of having a complete passing game. So I think they're
building on that. I see that, and so I see
(01:15:00):
things evolving versus bad. I know it's it's probably stagnant
based on you know, how.
Speaker 5 (01:15:05):
You see it.
Speaker 18 (01:15:05):
I think a lot of people see it that way,
But I do see growth on the way.
Speaker 10 (01:15:09):
Meryl they stop the run against Indianapolis, can they stop
the run against Chicago?
Speaker 18 (01:15:17):
Yeah, I mean if Chicott was committed to it that
they're not as good as Indianapolis. So yes, and that's
going to be an oppositive priority because they stay committed
to it. They do a good job, and so I'll
see what they do good job of off. You know,
everybody calls like there's there's three types of action. Everybody
says it's play action. Everybody goes a play action, play acts. Okay,
(01:15:38):
that is that is only true like a third of
the time. There's three Okay. Play action is when the
quarterback and running back do some type of action in
the backfield and the ALFs lines.
Speaker 3 (01:15:49):
Pass blocking.
Speaker 18 (01:15:50):
Run action is where offensive linemen come off like they're blocking.
Your back looks like he's going to get the ball,
your quarterback makes it look like he's going to hand
it handed wall off. That's run action. And then there's
our po action where it's a run pass options. So
there's three actions that go on in football, and nobody
ever mentioned run action, which is to me, the most
(01:16:10):
lethal part and way to.
Speaker 3 (01:16:12):
Throw the football.
Speaker 18 (01:16:14):
When you can do that, man, you get big time
passing plays. And that's what the Chicago's gotten better at
that they sell run action. Maybe they paralyzed the box.
All you got to do is freeze anybody in the
box for half a second or even a safety half
a second, and you got them. And they do a
(01:16:34):
really really good job of that. So, you know, defending
the run is critical, but you got to know when
to run the ball and not run the football too,
because the Stenia with some passing plays off of that
run action with their tight ends and their wide receivers.
Speaker 3 (01:16:49):
Defensively, they looked really good against Joe Flacco compared to
the first time they played them when they let up,
you know, four hundred yards passing. Yeah, how much of
it has to do with the reconfiguration of the defense
with Ramsey Uh at safety now at the addition of
Dougger Uh, and how much of it is just well,
the guys are actually doing what they were supposed to
(01:17:10):
do in the first place.
Speaker 18 (01:17:12):
Well, they did a better job up from it. First
of all, they controlled the line of scream so much better.
And Joe was off. I've seen I watched Joe forever.
I mean I could tell when Joe's like, I can
tell you what.
Speaker 3 (01:17:22):
I think that did that?
Speaker 5 (01:17:24):
You think the TJ did that?
Speaker 18 (01:17:27):
It could have because he was I could just tell
he was not the same joe Fla I've seen in
Cincinnati since he got there. Now that being said, that's
just part of it. You know, there made a couple
of wrinkles. You know, in the last game, they were
gonna double Higgins, both of them, Gosh, Dad Higgins and
(01:17:49):
the other guy jam Chris different.
Speaker 5 (01:18:01):
The safety over there. Yeah, yeah, I guess.
Speaker 18 (01:18:04):
But you know what, they doubled both of them in
the last matchup, and they did the same in this matchup.
It's their third wide receiver killed us. And so what
they did in this matchup is they put Joey Porter
on it. They didn't use Jeorge Porter in doubles, which
is actually that's like like some of what you do strategfied.
Let's say you got the best wide receiver, sometimes you
don't put your best cover guy on him. You double
(01:18:27):
that guy and you put your best cover guy in
the second best guy, and then that the way you
can neutralize two guys. And so I thought that that
change of scheme helped, you know, they I thought they
did a much better job on the back end that
and like I said, they did a good job in
the front and that always helps the back end when
when they do a better job up there, but that
(01:18:48):
changed to stematically made a big difference in how they
handled their passing attack.
Speaker 3 (01:18:53):
Meryl Hodge brought you by Castle Rock Hormone Health at
South Hills Kid this morning on your radio Home of
the Steelers one or two point five the.
Speaker 5 (01:18:59):
Ve ryl as always thank you my brother, love anytime,
Love you guys, I love you brother.
Speaker 4 (01:19:04):
We'll see it.
Speaker 3 (01:19:04):
Matt's Merril Bret keysilll coming up a little b late.
We didn't even ask Meryl about spitting, but I think
I know where he stands on being spat upon. I'm
sure he had some story about Levon Kirkland beans that.
Speaker 5 (01:19:15):
We didn't get to.
Speaker 3 (01:19:17):
Bret Eazel and PFT comment are on the way Abbey
has your news when we return.
Speaker 6 (01:19:21):
More and very expensive problems for the Pittsburgh Mills and
Dave Mustain of Megadeth wants their last show to be
in space.
Speaker 9 (01:19:28):
Ready to roll into the holidays with a brand new
ride at Salthill's Kia gid It twenty.
Speaker 6 (01:19:32):
Twenty, Hines's laws first ever squeezable gravy bottle featuring its
home style turkey gravy, and it looks like.
Speaker 3 (01:19:41):
It's a bottle of stadium mustard.
Speaker 6 (01:19:43):
They say it's specifically for sandwiches, inspired by the Friends
episode where someone steals Ross's moist Maker sandwich which has
which is made from Thanksgiving leftovers, with the secret being
a gravy soaked slice of bread in the middle, available
exclusively on Walmart dot com and to get one you
(01:20:04):
need to buy a jar version for a dollar eighty eight.
And then they include the limited edition Hines Leftover Gravy
Kit with the squeezeable version and a recipe.
Speaker 5 (01:20:13):
Card never go anywhere without your gravy Kit.
Speaker 3 (01:20:15):
I just like the theory that there's a at some
point between Walmart and Hines, there was an exclusivity contract
that had to get decided between who's getting the rights
to this gravy thing. Where can we find the biggest
ven diagram of turkey gravy consumers who might drink it
right out of the bottle.
Speaker 2 (01:20:34):
Right right here?
Speaker 5 (01:20:36):
Brandy Bellman and the DVE Morning.
Speaker 3 (01:20:38):
Show call Cole hanging out with us this morning as well,
along with Abby Krisner.
Speaker 5 (01:20:43):
And you know that is already sold out by.
Speaker 6 (01:20:45):
The way, uh oh, pock Market gravy.
Speaker 5 (01:20:48):
I'm going dark Web I'm gonna find it.
Speaker 3 (01:20:51):
The Heines leftover gravykit at Walmart dot com sold out.
I'm telling you, just by talking about this, we were
increasing the amount of meatloaf and open face turkey sandwiches
that are getting sold for lunch today.
Speaker 5 (01:21:02):
What's your meat loaf consumption per year?
Speaker 4 (01:21:05):
High?
Speaker 3 (01:21:05):
I like a meat loaf. Yeah, oh yeah, I like
meat loaf. It's just not something I get around to
very often. I'd say, I'm I'm only two three times
a year. I think I could do better. Now, I
will say a meat loaf sandwich seems redundant to me
because meat loaf is meat mixed with bread and then
you put it on bread.
Speaker 5 (01:21:23):
Yeah, it's just a little much.
Speaker 6 (01:21:24):
Yeah, yeah, you don't need you don't need the bread.
Speaker 3 (01:21:27):
I'm the same. It's probably like once or twice a year.
Meat's the only thing you can loaf besides bread. There's
no you can't fish loaf, right, Oh, don't fish loaf.
Don't don't do that chicken loaf. That sounds worse, you know, actually,
because there is a lunch meat pimental loaf. Yeah, but
what constitutes a loaf, this is what we need. Loast
(01:21:48):
to me is a is a almost like a shape
rather than a than a like a consistency.
Speaker 5 (01:21:53):
Right, you could probably loaf anything.
Speaker 6 (01:21:56):
Well, it to loaf to me says it's ground up
and there is a breading component.
Speaker 3 (01:22:02):
Yes, but loaf is never in a circle. It's only
only ever in a bread bread pan configuration. If it
was in a circle, would it be a bunt? Yeah,
that sounds a bunt. So the pimento, dude, there are many,
(01:22:23):
there are a lot. I want to I want to
get to all the loafs, and this one sounds the
worst of all of them.
Speaker 5 (01:22:30):
I mean, this is one. Don't look it up on
Urban Dictionary Dutch loaf.
Speaker 3 (01:22:33):
I think if you get Dutch loaf, that's a Dutch
oven that went a little too far. You forgot to
pinch it exactly. Oh, we have a Dutch loaf situation.
Then there is olive loaf. Yeah, no, that sounds revolting
to me. It sounds awful. Pimento loaf, which we already mentioned.
(01:22:56):
There's also ham and cheese loaf.
Speaker 5 (01:22:58):
I've seen the.
Speaker 3 (01:22:59):
Ham and cheese loaf. Think, but this is like a
this is like which is served for Christmas appetizers or
some gelatinous Yeah, it's probably gelatinous. And then there is
the chicken loaf and pickle loaf. There's pickle loaf, which
pimento loaf I think is like the you know, if
you make a pimento loaf, what are you gonna do
with all the olives you took the pimentos out of
(01:23:20):
you make another loaf? And then there's macaroni loaf and
liver loaf. Now, the first recipe that pops up on
a Google search is old fashioned loaf, which is plain loaf.
Here's what's it's just a plain loaf.
Speaker 5 (01:23:39):
Here's what's in the old loaf.
Speaker 3 (01:23:41):
It's made loaf. It's it's pork, chicken, turkey, and beef.
That's the old fashioned loaf. So it's a hot dog
kind of Yes, you're just mixing everything in the food process.
But I don't know what it is that makes it.
I mean, I think the shape has everything to do
with it. Whatever processing you do to shove all the
inards together, as long as it creates something that looks
(01:24:03):
like bread or you would make it in a bread pan,
you know what I mean. Now that we're talking about this,
I'm shocked that there isn't a specialty restaurant in Lawrenceville
that it doesn't just completely.
Speaker 5 (01:24:14):
That's all they do is just loaf, just loafs.
Speaker 3 (01:24:16):
That's all that's on the menu. Loaf first. Yeah, well,
now people could mistake that for a shoe store.
Speaker 6 (01:24:22):
No on all the weight staff's kind of like a
little rotunda and the table and they're just.
Speaker 3 (01:24:29):
Like, i'll be your waiter today, Welcome to Loaves. Are
you hungry or like not? Can I just sit down
for a little bit?
Speaker 5 (01:24:38):
Sitting down?
Speaker 3 (01:24:40):
They wheel up to you on an office chair, just
scooting with their heels.
Speaker 4 (01:24:44):
What do you want?
Speaker 5 (01:24:46):
There's a QR code there.
Speaker 3 (01:24:47):
You should probably just sord it that way. Yeah, I'm
only going to do your table and then I'm leaving.
I'm writing things at home. This is just a way
to make loaves meet Gig on the way for you,
Brett the diesel keysel I bet he's had a few
meat loafs in his day. Heck Y also PFT commenter
on the nine o'clock hour. Abby's got news for you
(01:25:08):
right now, you know, Abby, I just want to tell
the listeners the Smalls Waltz this Sunday or Saturday night
at mister Small's the Tribute to the last Waltz that
we've put on for the last five years.
Speaker 5 (01:25:18):
I did the last rehearsal last night.
Speaker 3 (01:25:21):
It is just killing. It is so damn good. I mean,
the band is so dialed in on it well because
they've done it so many times now. So it's like,
you know, there's thirty different musicians that'll be on the
stage throughout the course of the night, and it just
turns into the rehearsals are a party, and everyone's like
rooting each other on for every performance, and like, you know,
you get done rehearsing a song and everyone's like, oh yeah,
because people are bringing their best, inspiring each other to
(01:25:44):
pull these performances out. So if you like the last
waltz the band, which you know it's their farewell with
Robbie Robertson that brought Neil Young and Van Morrison and
Joni Mitchell and Ringo Starr and Ronnie Wood are even
on a couple of the tunes there, Ronnie Hawkins, Muddy
Waters and I don't know, there's so many other ones.
(01:26:07):
I got news for you. This is becoming like a
Pittsburgh calendar item. Yeah, it really is starting to People
are it's a standing appointment in Pittsburgh. At this point,
there's a lot of people that talk about going to
this thing. It's a Thanksgiving tradition to watch the Last Waltz.
It has been for a long time, and these shows
started happening. I remember seeing Warren Haynes and Don wa
(01:26:31):
was in the company that puts on a lot of
these kinds of shows down in New Orleans do the
Last Waltz like fifteen years ago. And then they did
a touring production of that show, and that they toured
it around and it's always this time of year because
that's when it was filmed. You know, they had an
actual Thanksgiving dinner at the is it the warfield where
they recorded that at any rate, So these little shows
(01:26:55):
started popping up everywhere. We did our first one at
the Rex and I want to say twenty nineteen before COVID, Yeah,
and then COVID happened, and then we then then we
lost the Rex unfortunately, which I mean I miss the
Rex every day. And Ben pennegar is we all owe
him a great debt of gratitude here in the city
for all the unbelievable music that he made happen. But
(01:27:15):
now mister Small's has been doing the same thing for
a long time, and it's an even bigger theater, and
those shows really took off. And now that Eric Lawrence
is a part of the show, who's a part of
levon Helm's Ramble band up in New York at the
Woodstock there at the levon Helm Studios, it really airs.
It has an air of legitimacy too. It's like baptized.
Speaker 5 (01:27:33):
Yeah, does it bumb.
Speaker 3 (01:27:34):
You out that you do? Like like that it is
just one and done, Like there's clearly so much work
and coordination that goes into it, and then it's really
just one night, Like wouldn't you like to take that
and like repeat it at least a couple of times?
Speaker 5 (01:27:46):
Just so much work goes into it.
Speaker 3 (01:27:47):
I think because it's such a you know, it's a
big show that you're covering the people, you know, it's
it always every year it has sold out like by tomorrow, yeah,
and it's kind of headed in that direction again, and
so it's like, I think the perfect amount of people
who want to see it go and see it, and
to make it any bigger, I think takes away from
(01:28:07):
what makes that thing great, which is this is like
the energy that the room feels and the people who
were there are such big fans of it, so these
are diehards. It's like going to a Rush concert. You know,
you're going to be surrounded by people who love Rush,
Like the last Waltz is like that for Americana. You know,
it's like the people it's a religious experience for them
(01:28:30):
to you know, it's like a call to worship the music.
And so the crowd is always great, the vibe is awesome.
So to do it anymore I think would take away
the Pittsburgh aspect of it, which is that this is
about the Pittsburgh's musicians paying. And then also you don't
want to have like an incredible ten out of ten
show and then take it on the road and have
like a six out.
Speaker 5 (01:28:48):
Of ten is a bummer.
Speaker 3 (01:28:50):
Well, yeah, and there's always that danger, but that danger
is minimal with this group of absolute mercenary musicians that
we have. It's just killer and the horn section is
out of control. So if you wanted to go to
that and you were waiting to get tickets, I wouldn't
wait around. No, I would not either. You will be
shut out. Get your tickets at the mister Small's box office.
And there's a link for you to buy those at
(01:29:12):
DV dot com and a portion of the proceeds, just
like every year, goes to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food
Bank who are in desperate need this time of the year,
really all year round, but especially during the holiday so
we're glad to partner up with them for the Smalls
Waltz this Saturday. Once again. Get your tickets through DV
dot com or at the Mister Small's box office.
Speaker 6 (01:29:32):
News this hour is brought to you by Windownation Clouds
with peaks of sunshine.
Speaker 3 (01:29:36):
Today it's a high of fifty four.
Speaker 6 (01:29:38):
Property owners for the Pittsburgh Mills Mall in Fraser were
ordered to pay more than seventeen million dollars in response
to poor road, sidewalk and door conditions at the mall
complex and Alleghany County judge ruled on Tuesday the owners
were found guilty of three hundred and sixty four code
violations for lack of attention to mall maintenance, including cratered roads,
(01:30:00):
overgrown weeds.
Speaker 3 (01:30:01):
And building violations.
Speaker 6 (01:30:02):
And this is in addition to being charged with creating
a public nuisance.
Speaker 3 (01:30:07):
It's tough to be a tenant of that mall when
people have to go on safari to be able to
go shopping.
Speaker 18 (01:30:12):
He really is.
Speaker 6 (01:30:13):
Judge Thomas Flaherty handed down the ruling, saying that there
has been no response from the property owners who are
not present in court, and he said that time has
officially run out.
Speaker 5 (01:30:24):
Wow they didn't even show up. No, Wow, these are
real bad slum.
Speaker 3 (01:30:29):
Well, I mean when you've I mean they've lost probably
what like one hundred and sixty million dollars, they're like, yeah,
throw another one point seven on the pile. I don't
care if I'm going to declare bankruptcy and nobody's going
to get any money anyway. Well, do you need more
blood from the stone?
Speaker 5 (01:30:42):
Go ahead? Yeah right, I got nothing.
Speaker 3 (01:30:44):
This is like somebody trying to collect on students.
Speaker 6 (01:30:46):
So they're like, literally can't believe a stone now.
Speaker 3 (01:30:48):
No property developers defense, They were like, I'm sorry, Pittsburgh.
Weren't you guys the ones that told us to put
them all here? Instead it'd be the hot spot, like
it failed within eight months, Like nobody wanted to go there,
Like everybody's going to Terrentum. Yeah right, you know what
everybody every Pittsburgh loves driving up twenty eight. Everyone loves
doing that. If there's one thing that we all have
(01:31:09):
in common, it's Route twenty eight driving. Who doesn't love it?
I mean, they're fifty one. To me is still will
forever be if I had to commute on fifty one,
God bless you people who do that every day.
Speaker 5 (01:31:22):
I don't know what it is about that road. First
of all, I think it's just way too close.
Speaker 3 (01:31:25):
I think you are much too close to people next
to you going in the opposite direction and the people
going in the same direction. If I ever run for mayor,
the only platform that I'm going to have is that
anyone who commutes on Sawmill Run Boulevard gets a stick
of dynamite that they get to throw out of the
car on their commute. That will pay for the demolition,
(01:31:45):
that will probably get a little bit of good will going.
It'll be a spectacle. I think that's a good thing
to do. I just it's one of those things where
you know, the people who developed the city and the
way it all developed, we just didn't anticipate the amount
of trap that we would have going through tunnels going
on fifty one, going on twenty eight, and now we're
stuck with these antiquated like called sawmill Run Boulevard. There's
(01:32:08):
no saw mills there. It was like it was meant
to move one log down the road. Now it's full
of hummers and mac trucks.
Speaker 5 (01:32:20):
I had. That's where the rehearsal was.
Speaker 3 (01:32:21):
It was off fifty one last night and I was
driving it and just thinking, like, man, doing this every morning.
Speaker 5 (01:32:26):
And it's not even that bad at night.
Speaker 3 (01:32:27):
But like I was coming off of a crossroad like
down on to turn right onto fifty one from you know,
coming down that hill kind of like an overbrook there,
and I got the green light and it was kind
of a blind spot and I'm like I better still
just creep, and sure enough, room dude goes.
Speaker 2 (01:32:44):
Right through the red light.
Speaker 5 (01:32:45):
I'm like, well, that would have been a t bone death.
Speaker 3 (01:32:47):
Yeah, on fiftyis and you have to contend with that
every day there. Yeah, I don't know how, Like we
should be pumping some sort of like you know, aromatherapy
onto fifty one in the morning to try and keep people.
Speaker 5 (01:33:00):
There's a couple talking about sense Amelia.
Speaker 6 (01:33:05):
Mega Death leader Dave Mustain has said a particularly high
bar when it comes to setting the scene for his
ideal final show with the Thrash Metal Legends. They're already
confirming that their seventeenth studio album and world tour is
going to be their final chapter, but he wants the
last concert that they perform to be in space. He says, quote,
(01:33:28):
I hope we'll be playing up in space. I think
that'll be a really fitting climax. And I'm not talking
about on the side of a vomit comet, a gig
on the moon, a full moon landing. I think it
would be cool, he said. I saw they send up
a bunch of celebrities into space, and I thought, if them,
then why not me. You know, I'm just watching how
it all progresses. I know Elon Musk and Richard Branson
(01:33:51):
were working on interstellar travel. I think people are going
to be traveling to space a lot sooner than you think.
Speaker 3 (01:33:56):
I'm sure. Elon's like, if there's one thing that we
must do, it's put Dave State on the moon.
Speaker 2 (01:34:01):
Isn't David State.
Speaker 3 (01:34:02):
He's a pilot though, isn't he? And that's right, that's right.
I just sort of wonder if the rest of Mega
Death is also on board with this, this whole thing.
I'm scared of flying and you want to take me
in orbit like the Apollo missions. I don't think so.
I'm all set. I'm a bass player alone. Dave, you
still have paid me for that last sowest. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:34:26):
Paris Hilton would like you to know that she is
self made.
Speaker 5 (01:34:30):
Yes, oh yes, that last name.
Speaker 3 (01:34:34):
Is completely independent of all that you've been taught and known. Yep,
all by herself, you guys.
Speaker 6 (01:34:38):
In a new interview, she says, quote, ever since I
was a teenager, I wanted to be independent and I
didn't want to have to ask my family for anything.
So yes, I came from Hilton Hotels, but I've parlayed
it into such a huge business that even my grandfather
said to me, I used to be known as Baron Hilton.
Now I'm known as Paris Hilton's granda.
Speaker 3 (01:35:00):
Well that's because she did a porno I mean that
will supersede any success that you have in business when
your granddaughter does a world famous homemade porno tape. I know,
the steer into the skid though, like on off of
like practically everybody that puts one out has really been
helped by it. It's so we Tommy Lee, you don't
(01:35:21):
think he was helped by that a little bit. Yes,
I mean he was already kind of sort of irrelevant
at that point. I mean, I mean everybody got to
know his uh hog hog.
Speaker 5 (01:35:35):
Hog is an aggressive term.
Speaker 3 (01:35:36):
I was going to say, uh, it's an aggressive hog.
It is an aggressive hog.
Speaker 5 (01:35:41):
But I don't know. I think he got onto the
microscope a little bit.
Speaker 3 (01:35:44):
I mean it like Pamela Anderson, you had got under
the telescope.
Speaker 5 (01:35:47):
I think that's what you mean.
Speaker 3 (01:35:48):
It was a planetary body that we were looking at out. No,
but Pamela Anderson's whole thing is that ruined her life? Yeah, okay,
so that that you know, all right, So that's someone
who didn't benefit from it.
Speaker 6 (01:36:05):
But Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian did the very smart
move which this works for people, is they refused to
accept the shame. But they would not say like, oh,
I'm embarrassed by it.
Speaker 3 (01:36:20):
They were proud of it.
Speaker 6 (01:36:22):
And as soon as you refuse the idea that you
will be shamed by that, it automatically turns into currency.
Speaker 3 (01:36:30):
I've often said that about people who get accused of racism.
But at the second, like Pauldine was, the second you apologize,
you get flayed. But if you're just like, nah, I
don't care, like the press sort of leaves you alone
because there's nothing to do, Like I feel like that,
then you're a racist, well exactly. But you'll find your people. Yeah,
but that's okay if you want to find those people, Yes,
(01:36:51):
but you want to if you are truly like man
that slipped out and I did not mean it, then
I don't think you can.
Speaker 5 (01:36:58):
There's no steering into that.
Speaker 3 (01:37:00):
I guess I think that those people want to be
left alone by the press anyway, So that probably makes
a little bit of sense. But you're right, like, if
you're unapologetic about things, to me, it doesn't seem I
still think that we need to bring back banishment as
a as a society, like actually physically banish people to
island countries and stuff like that. There has to be
(01:37:21):
a code of conduct that you're not going to prison,
but we're banishing you. Well, you have to live like
in a Puget Sound or something like that. I just
think that when like the whole cancel culture thing happened,
so many people were lumped into having been canceled that
weren't actually canceled. You just suffered the ramifications of your
own behavior and in no way, shape or form resulted
(01:37:43):
in you being canceled. I mean Luis c. K is
the one that like, I'm like, why do you have
a gripe? So you went from doing arenas to now
you're doing big theaters instead of having eight I mean
he just sold his how one of his homes for
four million dollars. Yeah, like Loisk was not canceled in
any way. He suffered in popularity because of, you know,
(01:38:04):
a disgusting situation. And always it bummed me out how
he handled that, because I was like, just say, you
messed up and you're sorry, instead of lumping yourself into
these people who had their career taken away from your
career suffered and that's what happens when you screw up.
Yeah yeah, but but you weren't prevented. But they were
doing comedy. It just made how many millions playing to
the Saudis He's not at all cancer. There was a
(01:38:28):
whole cottage industry for a little bit, sort of post
COVID of people who were saying they were being canceled,
but at the same time we're selling out arenas. That's
what I mean.
Speaker 5 (01:38:38):
The two things simultaneous.
Speaker 6 (01:38:40):
Yeah, cancel cultres not new. We used to put people
in stockhade.
Speaker 3 (01:38:44):
In the middle, right, Yes, I mean we're people hyper
sensitive and we're people being lumped into being the like.
Speaker 5 (01:38:52):
Yes, that of course that was definitely happening. There was
no deserves it, no doubt.
Speaker 3 (01:38:59):
But I think there were more people claiming to have
been persecuted who just were suffering the consequences of their
actions which resulted in a smaller amount of success, but
not lack of Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:39:15):
Paras Sultan, by the ways, also in the news because
she was circulating around this story that she could have
been one of Jeffrey Epstein's victims.
Speaker 3 (01:39:24):
Like bragging, I means like I couldn't said I could
have pulled that gig off always the bridesmaid.
Speaker 6 (01:39:30):
But she reportedly said that in the twenty twenty documentary
Surviving Jeffrey Epstein that one of his former associates claims
that Glene Maxwell once saw Paris Hilton at a party
and asked to be introduced to her, saying that Jeffrey
would love her.
Speaker 3 (01:39:46):
By the way, Jeffrey deserved to be canceled. That was
one guy who probably yeah, he probably, yeah, he should
have been but.
Speaker 6 (01:39:53):
Totally self made clouds with pigs of sunshine high of
fifty the amount of Epstein content, it's impossible to get
away from it.
Speaker 15 (01:40:02):
Now.
Speaker 3 (01:40:03):
Now I'm constantly seeing he was a CIA asset and
all this stuff. I'm like, I don't have the capacity.
I have no bandwidth for any of this.
Speaker 5 (01:40:09):
I just don't.
Speaker 3 (01:40:10):
The Steelers are in the middle of a season. I'm
concentrating on that. The Paris Hilton comment, right there is
a little I'm a little worried that it's gonna tip
the other way, because you know how people started thinking
Jeffrey Dahmer was hot after you remember like that after
his his lit Really yeah, there was this whole little
subtext of like the serial murders like Luigi Mangion and
all that kind of stuff, Like is there going to
(01:40:32):
be a point where there's some psychopaths that are sort
of being like, oh, well, I could have been in
the Jeffrey Epstein harem, like you know what, and like,
are there gonna be people who want to glom onto
that attention?
Speaker 5 (01:40:42):
Definitely? I think definitely.
Speaker 3 (01:40:44):
I mean to your earlier point, don't forget Charles Manson
had a woman that wanted to be try him, as
Dana Gould always points out, but he decided not to
because he wanted his freedom.
Speaker 5 (01:40:56):
While he was still incarcerated.
Speaker 3 (01:40:57):
Yeah, I think there's there's there's an inclination for all
kinds of you know, people, not glory seekers, but just
attention steatter people trying to carve off a little attention
on the way for you.
Speaker 5 (01:41:10):
Mike's got your sports.
Speaker 3 (01:41:11):
Brett Keezel doing some good the Press Your Luck holiday
promotion to support local kids and families in conjunction with
our friends at Presley Ridge is coming up.
Speaker 5 (01:41:20):
He's going to tell you all about that.
Speaker 3 (01:41:21):
We'll ask him about the current state of your Pittsburgh
Steelers plus PFT Commoner in the nine o'clock hour. Jeff
Conkle hanging out with us this morning as well.
Speaker 20 (01:41:28):
Here on DVE ies forward hands in the ten and
two position radio cranked. YEP, looks like you're ready to drive,
Let's get you. Chad Tyson rocks Pittsburgh weekday afternoons on DV.
He also has a reloaded cut from the DV Morning
Show and Sports News after Noons with Chad Tyson on DV.
Speaker 9 (01:41:52):
E from the Seedon Hill University Weather Center schedule your
campus visit today.
Speaker 3 (01:41:58):
This report is sponsored IM super Sure. Decreasing clouds through
this afternoon.
Speaker 6 (01:42:03):
High temperatures today near fifty, cloudy overnight and alone in
the mid thirties, and more clouds tomorrow with a high
once again around.
Speaker 3 (01:42:10):
Getting ready for Steelers Bears this coming Sunday in Chicago
one o'clock kickoff.
Speaker 10 (01:42:16):
You're on DVE over under on the TV broadcast. The
amount of time still show fans in the stands in
the Ditka outfits, you know, the sweater vest that's a
Bears and then the sunglasses and the mustache that like
the mid eighties Super Bowl winning year at Ditka.
Speaker 3 (01:42:33):
I'm gonna say it's four and a half. I was
gonna say three. Chicago is the most Pittsburgh like city
there is. That's not Pittsburgh. It's bigger than us. It's
just a bunch of Pittsburgh's. I think they're the only
other city that, says jag Off. Yeah, we were talking
about that yesterday, like because I remember hearing it in
the movie Vacation, right, He's talking about she's talking about
(01:42:55):
her cousin and Wise he's always been flaty and then
Clark goes he's always been a JAF and I remember
thinking like, huh, they have it there too, because it's
written by John Hughes and it's set in Chicago. TNFA
used to use it fairly frequently. Now she's from Philly,
but she was at Second City in Chicago. I think
that's where she picked it up.
Speaker 5 (01:43:13):
Yeah, it's a good one.
Speaker 3 (01:43:14):
It's a great one.
Speaker 5 (01:43:15):
Jag Off is a good one. Everyone knows exact.
Speaker 10 (01:43:18):
The stadium's weird because they tried to modernize an ancient
Roman like structure and it looks like a space ship
landed on the coliseum.
Speaker 3 (01:43:26):
But was was that was originally War Memorial Stadium? Right,
Soldier Field? Oh, Soldier Field? Okay, where was War Memorial
Stadium Buffalo?
Speaker 5 (01:43:38):
Well, there's War memorials all over the place.
Speaker 3 (01:43:41):
But the NFL team played in War Memorial in Buffalo.
Speaker 5 (01:43:44):
The AFL team.
Speaker 3 (01:43:46):
Okay, It is funny like that told George carlon routine
about where you play Baseballs played in a park, footballs
played in War Memorial Stadium.
Speaker 10 (01:43:56):
Iron you know, Steel was getting ready for the Bears,
as you mentioned, and it's wait and see on Aaron Rodgers.
Mike Tomlin made it sound yesterday as if Friday is
going to be today when they figure out whether Rodgers
will play or not. He was not ruled out yesterday,
but he wasn't exactly ruled in. It depends on things
such as pain tolerance and the ability to brace his
(01:44:17):
broken wrist, which does not require surgery.
Speaker 3 (01:44:19):
Before he heard his wrist, he didn't look comfortable to me.
I don't know what's going on with him. There's a regression, right.
It wasn't the bounce back I was hoping for from
the Charger game. I thought he was tremendous up until
the Charger game. Just the whole body of work and
the way he was orchestrating it and running this show.
(01:44:39):
Not necessarily statistical accidents. Although his quarterback rating was very high,
he was top ten, he was top three or four
in touchdown passes. He could argue statistically he was doing
very well. Charger game was an absolute stinker, as he
put it, and the Bengals game was disjointed until he
got hurt and went out. We'll see what they come
up with for Sunday. If it's Mason off.
Speaker 10 (01:45:01):
Mike Tom have talked yesterday about how the game plan
wouldn't necessarily change and again, if they're waiting till Friday,
that horse would be out of the bar by the
time they figure out who the quarterback is. But they
will taylor the play calling within that game planning to
where Mason Rudolph likes to play.
Speaker 11 (01:45:20):
Again, those conversations happened before we get in stadium. They
generally happened weekly toward the latter part of the week
Friday and Saturday. He'll get time with author and highlight
some things within the plan that best suit his skill set,
the things that he sees with great, great clarity relative
to who we're competing against. And so when you get
(01:45:41):
in game and your face with elevating him is simply
a continuation of some of those things with you know,
with a focus on what's transpiring in game. And so
that's the nature of the conversation. It transpired at halftime,
it transpired continually once they got to the sideline. Is
on going in between series once you get in game.
(01:46:03):
He only had two real series because how the second
half unfolded. But that's the nature of the conversation and
the flow of information and our general approach to it.
Speaker 10 (01:46:14):
A couple things about the Bears, whose ever quarterbacking has
to protect the football. Chicago leeds the NFL and takeaways
and seven wins for the Bears this season, twenty one
takeaways in those seven games. Three losses for the Bears
this season, one takeaway in those three games. Steelers are
not the only team that is turnover centric or turnover driven.
(01:46:38):
Not every successful team operates that way, but a lot
of them do. The Bears are plus eighteen, The Rams
are really good. They're plus ten, Tampa Bay is plus nine,
Jacksonville's better than people thought, plus eight, and Pittsburgh's plus eight.
Speaker 5 (01:46:53):
Some of the outliers in.
Speaker 10 (01:46:54):
Terms of good teams that don't necessarily have to turn
you over. New England is even and Denver's minus three.
Speaker 3 (01:47:02):
In case you were wondering, you know the wind, I
think a lot of times and weather it can contribute
to turnovers. Forecast for Sunday in Chicago fifty seven degrees,
partly cloudy.
Speaker 10 (01:47:15):
The wind actually does blow in off the lake there.
It is a lake, yes, lake, buddy, right, great lake.
But that's not why they call it city.
Speaker 5 (01:47:23):
As you know, why do they call it the windy city?
Speaker 3 (01:47:27):
Oh you don't know, Oh, they called it the windy
city because of the politicians. Yeah, blowing so much wind,
and really, yeah, it's not It has nothing to do
with that.
Speaker 5 (01:47:37):
Windy as hell there. It is also windy as hell there.
Speaker 10 (01:47:40):
If you've ever been in Chicago walking down Michigan Avenue
in February and it's about ten degrees and the wind
is blowing, wolf, you don't want to be there. The
wind blows. Uh trick plays or another component here. Ben
Johnson's famous for me his famous form in Detroit, the
Bears run them. Here's here's a little contact for you.
(01:48:00):
Steelers just played the Bengals. The Bears just played the
Bengals before the Steelers did. Caleb Williams, the Bears quarterback,
had more receptions against the Bengals two than either.
Speaker 5 (01:48:12):
Pat Fryar move Roan Wilson, who Wall had won each.
Speaker 10 (01:48:20):
They're gonna do some stuff, and particularly if you let
them run the ball, then that really opens the door
to them doing some throwbacks and direct snaps. They had
one play against Cincinnati where they took their backup quarterback
Tyson Badgett and lined him up a wide receiver and
then Williams drew backwards to him and then he ended
up throwing back to Williams down the field.
Speaker 3 (01:48:40):
Well, and with the Steelers defense having a lot of
new components to it, you think they might be susceptible
to stuff like that. They had a hard time getting
their communication down the first five games of the year
with facing regular plays.
Speaker 10 (01:48:53):
Well, they're also a rally to the ball team, but
you have to do your jut like the backside guy.
Better stay on the backside, don't chase. Oh, they running
a sweet not necessarily. This is the game, the mother
of all games, where you gotta trust your teammate to
do what he's supposed to do, because if you try
to do his job, nobody's going to do yours. And
that's when the double throwback reverse pass to the long
(01:49:16):
snapper comes in.
Speaker 3 (01:49:17):
See. I feel like all those trick plays is a
recipe for Peyton Wilson getting like three interceptions this game
if they if they try that stuff, I hope you're right.
I think that that this d can pull that off.
Speaker 10 (01:49:28):
If you're sound, it doesn't work, but if you give
them an inch, they can take a lot of yards. Also,
Chicago's second in the NFL and rushing and the Bears
average four point nine per carry, but they're twenty fifth
in run defense and they allow five.
Speaker 5 (01:49:42):
Point two per carry. Come on, Jalen, just.
Speaker 10 (01:49:45):
Come on, Jalen, come on, gain well, come on, Caleb Johnson,
pound it, protect it, keep Caleb Williams in the pocket.
Speaker 5 (01:49:53):
Abby as you new is at the top of the hour.
Speaker 3 (01:49:54):
You guys woke up Chicago. So a documentary about the
Bears Super Bowl Shuffle is coming. Brett Keezel joining us

Riffing Inside Supply Center where I got the new Timber
Tech decking for the house this summer and man our old.
Speaker 5 (01:50:38):
Deck was a for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Speaker 3 (01:50:42):
Why don't two point five DV joining us right now?
Number ninety nine in your program and number one in
your beard Ladies and gentlemen, Beard, Bretta Diesel Kiesel, what's up?
Speaker 12 (01:50:56):

Speaker 4 (01:50:58):
Good morning DV.
Speaker 5 (01:51:00):
How are you, buddy?
Speaker 8 (01:51:01):
I'm super How are you en done?
Speaker 5 (01:51:03):
Fantastic?
Speaker 4 (01:51:04):
You know what?
Speaker 5 (01:51:04):
I love the fact that I see you all over
the place.
Speaker 3 (01:51:06):
I swear to God you are everywhere you go, more
places in Pittsburgh and Pendot, Like every time I turn around,
there's Bretiesel. It's fantastic.
Speaker 15 (01:51:15):
It's my home.
Speaker 3 (01:51:16):
Man.
Speaker 8 (01:51:16):
I love it here. I love being a Pittsburgher. I
love raising my kids here in Pittsburgh. And you know,
I like to be at and a bat as they say, Randall.
Speaker 3 (01:51:26):
You know what, Let's get right to the meat of
the matter. And by meat, I mean Capacola. Because you
were doing something pretty cool with Primanny Brothers.
Speaker 4 (01:51:34):
Yeah, this is awesome.
Speaker 8 (01:51:35):
I've teamed up with Presley Ridge and Primanny Brothers. We're
having an event tonight and McCandless and bringing my champion
brothers Chris Hoak and Matt Staith and we're gonna come
down and take some pictures. We'll wave some towels with
all the people that come and see us, said Primanny Brothers.
We're doing an awesome event called a Press your Luck
(01:51:55):
ticket where people can purchase a ticket. Everything that gets
purchased goes directly to the wonderful kids that Presley Ridge
serves over nine thousand kids around this region they helped
throughout the year. But you can come down, get a
Pressure Luck ticket, scratch it off, you might win a sandwich,
or you might just win the grand prize, which is
(01:52:18):
coming to a Stellar game with me.
Speaker 5 (01:52:21):
Oh yeah, that's amazing.
Speaker 3 (01:52:23):
So six thirty to eight thirty tonight at the McCandless
Primanne's in McIntyre Square, and you'll have Hoky and Matt
Spaith with you as well. And then it's just one
dollar for the Pressure Luck tickets to win all of
this cool stuff. There's autograph memorabilly, as you said, free
Primanny's foods, gift cards in that really cool ultimate prize
(01:52:45):
of going to a game with Brett the Diesel Kesels.
Speaker 5 (01:52:47):
So we are kicking this around earlier.
Speaker 3 (01:52:49):
Brett, do you have any stories of somebody being dumb
enough to spit on a member of that defense that
you played for with the Steelers.
Speaker 8 (01:52:58):
Hell no, I like that. There's a lot of trash
talking that goes on, as you guys know, there's a
lot of things being said. There's a lot of words,
But you really want to play the game respectfully, and
you try and respect your opponent, respect his position, his job,
(01:53:19):
and that's why the game is great. At the end
of the game, you come together to shake hands, win
or lose, you know, like lebosays, sometimes you get the bear, sometimes.
Speaker 4 (01:53:29):
The bear gets you.
Speaker 8 (01:53:29):
But the ultimate form of.
Speaker 4 (01:53:32):
Disrespect is what we saw.
Speaker 8 (01:53:34):
And you know, it's unfortunate that happened. And you know,
anytime something like that happens, there's going to be, you know,
some sort of of response to it because you know,
that's nothing you should do to anybody. So I hope they,
(01:53:55):
you know, everyone learns from it. We don't like seeing
that thing. You don't like seeing your heroes doing that stuff.
You know, you want to play the game the right
way and compete your tail off and at the end
of the day, you know, walk off the field with
your head high.
Speaker 3 (01:54:10):
Yeah, And but your teammates would never hold it against
you for reacting the way that tomorrow that Jalen Ramsey did,
because it's just it's so outside of the bounds of
what you guys are doing there that, as coach Tomlin
said yesterday, do what you feel is necessary.
Speaker 2 (01:54:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:54:29):
Absolutely, Like you know, things happen and stuff gets said.
I think a lot of times, you know, when when
hands start to fly, that's when you lose your coat.
Cool about one thing or another, but one thing that
made us all great is how we supported each other
and back to each other up and and I know
that that team down there is doing the same with Jalen.
Speaker 10 (01:54:52):
Brett speaking of what's necessary or what might be necessary.
The best game of the year for the Steelers was
clearly the Colts game. I think it was because they
didn't want to look bad for all of you guys,
So yeah, right, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:55:08):
A great game.
Speaker 8 (01:55:09):
It was so much fun to be together with the guys.
You know, I can't believe it's been twenty years since since,
you know, speaking of spitting, like coach Kauar kicked in
the door and when he comes into a meeting, he's
rant and there is some spit to fly, but I'm
friendly fire.
Speaker 10 (01:55:26):
Could you guys start showing up with a little more
regularity because clearly it has an effect. So I mean,
you know, maybe not the whole group, but get fifteen
to twenty guys, now, okay, we're going to Chicago and
then the next one's home against Buffalo.
Speaker 5 (01:55:37):
Clear your schedules.
Speaker 8 (01:55:39):
Like I'll definitely talk to my man Marchinski who runs
the alumni, and be like, you know, this might be
a good idea. Take take a bunch of guys on
the road. It's win win because we don't get to
spend time with each other and support the team and
maybe bring a little lap magic.
Speaker 3 (01:55:55):
Yeah, it's like how Sidney Crosby performs when he's when
they're on the Dad's trip.
Speaker 5 (01:55:58):
Yeah, you want to you want to do good when
your dad's batch it right.
Speaker 8 (01:56:02):
Well, we were always like that too. I mean it
was such a treat when we would go play and
you know, me and Joe show up, and Franco and
Rocky and and mel Blant and you know, you get
the legends that come by. It creates a different buzz.
Like this whole thing got started with those guys bringing
(01:56:22):
home Lombardes and you know they did it a certain
way and worked a certain way and far a certain way,
and that's why they stacked four, you know, and it
was an honor for us to be able to add
a couple more to the old trophy case there at
the South Side.
Speaker 3 (01:56:39):
You know, I wanted to ask you about your buddy
and the only guy who's on the team still that
played with you, Cam Hayward, because I think a lot
of Steeler fans get caught up in all of the
drama of the offseason stuff and they don't appreciate what
they're seeing in Cam Hayward at this point in his career.
And is it remarkable to you that he's able to
(01:57:02):
play at the level that he is still continuing to
exhibit at this point? How many years? And is it
for him now, Mike? Is it thirteen years or fifteen? Fifteen?
Speaker 2 (01:57:13):
Yeah, fifteen, isn't it?
Speaker 3 (01:57:15):
Yeah, I mean a lot, it's a lot. Yeah, he's
coming up on thirty.
Speaker 8 (01:57:17):
Seven, So absolutely what you said, it's it's almost unreal
what he's done and at the level he's done it at.
Speaker 4 (01:57:27):
You know, when I.
Speaker 8 (01:57:29):
Was fortunate enough to play with him and when we
were out there together, I knew I knew.
Speaker 4 (01:57:34):
He was special.
Speaker 8 (01:57:36):
And you know, it's just been so much fun to
be able to be done and watch him work and
watch him lead and watch him there game after game.
He just got the second most all time snaps in
Steeler history this last week, which are games, you know,
(01:57:56):
games played. I think only to Ben, that's remarkable what
he's done. Just it's so hard in the trenches. You
got to think about the level of dudes down there
that you're competing against in the grind that it takes,
you know, day in and day out, pushing and pulling
and fighting these giants, you know, and staying healthy through
(01:58:20):
it all. But he's a legend through and through. In
my eyes, he's the first ballot, you know, Hall of Famer.
His resume is incredible, his sacks are incredible. He's just
someone that I'm so proud to know and that I've
gotten to watch play and and fight and become the
giant of a player that he is.
Speaker 5 (01:58:41):
He has just perfected the past deflection.
Speaker 3 (01:58:44):
I don't know any stealer that is as proficient at
that as he's been.
Speaker 8 (01:58:49):
Yeah, he's incredible in all areas. Like you watch him
take on double teams, you watch him get down the
line of scrimmage on plays that are away and be
sidelined the sideline. If he gets single blocked, ninety nine
percent of that time he wins that play. And when
he's doubled, he's holding point, you know. And for him
(01:59:10):
to be doing that in year fifteen is amazing, because
I can tell you this, when I got to year thirteen,
he started flowing down. You just don't move like he
used to, and you don't have your reactions. And I
remember I jumped up to deflect the pass in some
(01:59:31):
game and one of the young offensive linemen like, put
me on my neck, you know, Like it just is
such a grind there in the trenches. So he's the
ultimate warrior.
Speaker 4 (01:59:41):
In my book.
Speaker 8 (01:59:42):
And I'm proud to have been around him and teach
him a few tricks along the way.
Speaker 3 (01:59:48):
Tonight, at the McCandless location of Formandy Brothers and McIntyre
Square from six thirty to eight thirty, join Brett Keesel,
Chris Hoak and Matt Spath for Presley Ridges Press r
Luck Event Tonight. One dollar tickets give you a chance
to win all kinds of autograph memorabilia, free Primanny's food,
gift cards, and the ultimate prize of going to a
(02:00:09):
Steelers game with or a hockey game.
Speaker 5 (02:00:11):
Is that what it is?
Speaker 3 (02:00:12):
It's either a football game or a hockey game.
Speaker 8 (02:00:14):
This is a Pittsburgh game. It could be a hockey
game too, Pittsburgh. This is for all the fans out there.
You know. One of the great things about being a
Pittsburgher as our awesome teams that we've been able to
root for, and so we're all black and gold and
whoever wins and probably get to choose.
Speaker 3 (02:00:33):
All right, there you go. That's tonight six thirty to
eight thirty. Along with Chris Hokin, Matt Space joined Brett
keesel A Key's always a pleasure. Thanks for making time
this morning. Have a blast night. What's your go to?
Primanny's by the way, you.
Speaker 4 (02:00:44):
Know, I'm the Pittsburgher. Yeah, all right.
Speaker 8 (02:00:47):
I just I like burger and I love for mannaise,
you know. It's it's one of the places that I
always bring friends and family when they come to town
and have never been out. You know, they always take
them down to for mayonnaise and give them the full
Pittsburgh experience. So it's a great spot. I'm great grateful
(02:01:11):
to have Prestley Ridge partner with them to really make
a difference for these kids that need some help this
holiday season. So if you can come by today and
say hi and give me a high five, and you know,
we'll maybe have a sandwich together.
Speaker 3 (02:01:25):
Sounds good.
Speaker 5 (02:01:26):
All the best of you, share and the kids hope
to see you soon. Love you, guys, We'll see you.
Got to Bret the Diesel Keyesel on DV what do
you want to hear?
Speaker 7 (02:01:36):
Their rose the Pittsburgh tradition built by Pittsburgh's happens weekdays
at noon, the all request at electric Lunch.
Speaker 2 (02:01:43):
That's one of the best on DVE.
Speaker 3 (02:01:46):
Take going a Mercedes Benz is out of breed.
Speaker 15 (02:01:48):
You guys know that. But now now the corporate matches
the drinks, I think I've got Yeah. I did a
little clean up action on the hair, and I've been
thinking about you this now for like the last six months.
It's been a real real talk that I've had. And
over the weekend I came to the realization of the
epiphany that now is the time to do the mullet.
Speaker 8 (02:02:11):
I don't want to get super personal with you, but
when you said the curtains match the drapes, does that
mean you have a dullet?
Speaker 4 (02:02:20):
Yeah?
Speaker 15 (02:02:21):
I do not, you know that's a that's an interesting
thing to try. I don't know how it build up.
Speaker 5 (02:02:26):
I don't know, I don't know how.
Speaker 15 (02:02:31):
I mean, I probably probably the wrong choice of words.
Maybe I should have said, like now the welcome Matt
matches the rug.
Speaker 3 (02:02:38):
Like Brandy Bellman and the d V Moran at commenter
on the show last well a couple of weeks ago there,
and he does have the full on like it's an
impressive mullet that that's going on. I'm like, I want
to give my kids mullets.
Speaker 4 (02:02:56):
They're not.
Speaker 18 (02:02:57):
They're not.
Speaker 3 (02:02:58):
I want them to have one, just once in their life,
and they're both resistant to it.
Speaker 6 (02:03:02):
I've seen so many parents give their kids mullets without
their consent.
Speaker 3 (02:03:07):
So that's a whole other discussion. I'm almost awesome ful waterfall,
but I mean just an understated one, like a kind
of like a euro trash mullet, you know what I'm
talking about. Soccer midfielder. I had the most amazing mullet
one time in it. I was like twenty four, My
brother was getting married and my hair I had let
(02:03:28):
it grow since I got fired from KPMG.
Speaker 5 (02:03:31):
So from the time I was twenty two to twenty
let two years.
Speaker 3 (02:03:34):
It was really long, and my mom and you know,
my soon to be sister in law were like, will
you please, like just get it cleaned up at least
a little bit. And I'm like, okay, I'll get it
like shaped up a little bit. And I went to
one of those discount barbers where like the students cut
your hair.
Speaker 5 (02:03:54):
And I didn't know.
Speaker 3 (02:03:55):
I thought bangs meant the front of your hair. I
thought those were always like whatever is in the front
of your hair.
Speaker 5 (02:04:02):
I thought that was is bangs.
Speaker 3 (02:04:03):
Yeah, And so I was like, describe me.
Speaker 5 (02:04:06):
I'm like now.
Speaker 3 (02:04:06):
I was trying to tell her to like kind of
layer it back, but I said bangs and she heard
the word bangs, and so she turned it into a mullet,
and I like with the first like and I saw
it and I was.
Speaker 5 (02:04:18):
Like, what are you doing?
Speaker 3 (02:04:19):
And she's like you said, and then she's all nervous
because she's a student and everything. I got a mangled
haircut and it got turned into this huge mullet and
then I'm like, I'm keeping it for the wedding and
my brother is like.
Speaker 5 (02:04:31):
You can't, dude, you can't.
Speaker 3 (02:04:32):
I'm like, oh no, I'm gonna have the tucks on
and I'm going full mullet. And I had this mullet.
By the way, I wasn't like all excited about it.
It was devastating because there wasn't this celebration, ironic celebration
of the mullet. At the time. I was gonna say,
where in the zeitgeist was the mullet had Billy Ray
Cyrus broke was it before that? I mean, it was
still considered to be like, uh, there was nothing ironically
(02:04:56):
funny about it. It was a indication of a whole
lot of things about you. It was an identifier. Now
I feel like it could be like you could be
like a hipster, yes, you know, you could be a
complete country like you know, overalls and Carhart kind of guy.
As a man, though you're not equipped to tell a
barber what kind of haircut you was until you're like
(02:05:17):
thirty five.
Speaker 5 (02:05:18):
Yeah, you don't know what layering is.
Speaker 3 (02:05:20):
No, I didn't not like that. Nobody knows that it
was really on me. But at any rate, I ended
up with this glorious moment. And so every picture from
this wedding it's me with I mean, the back was
like at my shoulders and the front is like just
above my eyebrow. What's the tucks you're wearing in this well,
it's like ruffles on the top, nothing like that.
Speaker 5 (02:05:38):
No, it was a standard nice than of talk tucks.
Speaker 3 (02:05:40):
Yeah, I was far from My brother played at West Virginia,
so it was all football players and wrestlers, so I
was I was far from being the biggest spectacle that
everybody has dips in.
Speaker 5 (02:05:50):
Oh yeah, it was problem.
Speaker 3 (02:05:51):
No, that wedding was they they should make a movie
out of that wedding because her family was very It
was like the it was like the trope of like
we're at our country club and we behavior and.
Speaker 5 (02:06:02):
All these West Virginia athletes.
Speaker 3 (02:06:04):
There who were like pounding on their table and like
taunting the other tables. So maybe like Table nine sucks
because they knew all to do. And then like they
just created a spectacle and there was beer on the
floor and they were doing beer slides, and then there
was h have you ever done body surfing where one
person lays on the ground and then they shake like
(02:06:25):
this and you take your shoes off and you try
to like surf their back. While you're doing that, they
saw they spas and you can't do it something happens
and you just fly off of them person.
Speaker 5 (02:06:36):
That sounds fun. They were doing that and flying up
in the air.
Speaker 3 (02:06:39):
Like way higher than you thought would be possible, just
from that act, and it was like my sister in
last family was absolutely disgusted. Was your assist because a bride, well,
that behavior is going on at her wedding could be
turned into a murderous rage.
Speaker 5 (02:06:57):
Is she cool?
Speaker 3 (02:06:58):
Oh? She was mad? Was furious. And my other brother
Gary and I ended up when they did the dance
where like the wedding.
Speaker 5 (02:07:06):
Party we were we were we were fun guys that
day and uh.
Speaker 3 (02:07:14):
So we we were like like started dancing with each
other and being clowns and everything, and it was really
sort of an indication of everything that was about to
go wrong.
Speaker 5 (02:07:22):
I'll just leave it at this.
Speaker 3 (02:07:23):
Like some wrestlers stole their limo and so they didn't
have a ride to their like honeymoon suite. Her father
called the cops on us. Oh my god, wed Yeah,
it was I've never seen the video of it. And
we had this like party room at the hotel we
all had to stay at like one of those Econo lodges.
This is like between Cleveland and Detroit and we were
(02:07:47):
at like one of those econolages. They have this party
room for us, and the manager of this place I
had said to her as we were rolling in from
this wedding and it was like clearly like I mean it.
Speaker 5 (02:07:55):
Was like going to be a problem. Yeah we are.
Speaker 3 (02:07:58):
We are a loud, boistered and I said, hey, if
you got any issues, come find me and I'll take
care of it because there's a lot of rowdy people here.
And so they all met us congregat in this room
and the party was I mean, it was it was
crazy because my mom has a huge Irish family and
my dad's family doing did she have the sniper rifle
trained on you? People walked in with dark State cops.
(02:08:19):
She said, you said I could come to you if
there's a problem. There's a problem, and then these cops
like into the room and I was like, you know,
do the whistle, you know, everybody, Uh, call them back
for a second. And then it's like instinctually, a bunch
of these dudes from West Virginia, you just go flying
out of the room, give the cops and they're gone
into the hills and Dale She's like, you said, this
(02:08:39):
was just gonna be family. And my mom is sitting
there like in a moomoo, you know, because she had
gone to her room and gotten comfortable, and she's with
her sisters and brothers and they're having their manhattans at
this point in the night, and and.
Speaker 5 (02:08:53):
She said, but this is our family.
Speaker 3 (02:08:56):
And the entire place went like that, like oh, this
is so the cops were like, ok so they yes,
So they moved us to another part of the hotel
that had been shut down for the season.
Speaker 5 (02:09:09):
We call this the asbestos suite.
Speaker 3 (02:09:11):
It's exactly where we put us. And we were in
this like cobwebs and stuff.
Speaker 5 (02:09:15):
And it was it was bob whow dude, it was.
Speaker 3 (02:09:19):
And so we pulled all these coolers down the hallway
and it was like a circus.
Speaker 5 (02:09:23):
Was like a Scooby Doo episode.
Speaker 3 (02:09:24):
There's like portraits with eyes moving watching you going down
the abandoned wing. It was like that. And I mean
so many funny things happened that day. I mean, but
it was we were late for the wedding. We were
late for the wedding, and like, I don't remember why.
It wasn't my fault. I know that, and I think
my brother, my brother screwed up and we were like
(02:09:48):
ten minutes late to show up with the grooms. The
grooms yea. And we like got there and we're like, oh,
we gotta go to the bathroom because we were chucking
beers or whatever. We run in there and her dad's
there and he just starts yelling at my my brother's
best man, who's like, you know, our dear friend, Paul,
he's like a brother to us, and.
Speaker 5 (02:10:05):
He's he's getting yelled at. He screams at the father
and the body goes.
Speaker 18 (02:10:11):
Hey, man, shut you up.
Speaker 3 (02:10:12):
I'm trying to take a leak. We didn't do anything wrong,
you know, go ask your son in law. He was right,
this is getting off to a bad start. I like
put my arm out to go down the aisle with
the bridal party member and she.
Speaker 17 (02:10:25):
Goes, for the love of God, please don't do anything stupid.
Speaker 3 (02:10:29):
It was like challenge accept this pretty single part of
it felt like an eighties movie of a disastrous wedding,
and it was so fun. I cannot tell you for you.
For us, it was so for people in attendance, probably
maybe not so much. And they were like the they
(02:10:50):
liked us, no, they hated us. They thought we were fine.
They hated us for years and then came around many
years later. I feel like just a wedding day is
so tense to begin with that you're kind of like
any little thing that goes wrong sets everybody up encouraged it.
This was very much an extension of his personality, and
(02:11:11):
so we felt like we were living up to our end.
Is this just like some kind of manifestation of cold feet,
Like he just outsources the bad behavior to you, and
he's just like, hey, wreck this thing for me.
Speaker 5 (02:11:23):
Yeah, I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (02:11:24):
I think that he resented, possibly deep down, the fact
that they were trying to make it into a stuffy thing.
And we're not stuffy people. And so when you put
us in the yeah, and he put us in the
stuffy place. And you know, you know, her dad had
like a special bottle of booze at the bar that
he drank from that he wouldn't let anybody else drink
(02:11:45):
from him.
Speaker 5 (02:11:47):
And my uncle just a target and my uncle tom
saw him do that.
Speaker 3 (02:11:51):
My uncle Tommy was, you know, he's one of those buttes,
and he's like, he said to the guy, he saw
it happen, and he says to the bar hey and
he gives him like fifty bucks. He goes, give me
that thing to the bottle, just poured it out to everybody.
Here you go, here you go, here you go, like
because he thought it was just such a bad move,
and it was a bad move.
Speaker 6 (02:12:08):
What a way to say we're family now, yeah, saying
this is my booztoe.
Speaker 3 (02:12:14):
We rule you so I mean better than me, I
mean we like along with I want to point out
a good number of West Virginia athletes combined with our family.
See you brought muscle in some few people could behave
horribly that this is the worst thing. It was disastrous,
but hilarious to this day. None of us have seen
(02:12:37):
the video. And there's a wedding video, so wow, and
we're not well up some old ghosts. Her mom had
like a panic attack and couldn't go to the brunch
the next day. She like couldn't, like, you know, it
was just one of those things where but it started
off bad because at the rehearsal dinner, my mom paid
(02:12:57):
for it and my mom my mom had to work
really hard to make ends meet, and so her my
mom and dad worked out, I'm paying for this shoe,
paying for that you know whatever, and she paid for
this rehearsal dinner, and her dad got up and gave
this big speech and didn't thank my mom and didn't.
Speaker 5 (02:13:12):
Bring it up now, you know.
Speaker 3 (02:13:18):
So isn't it funny how those little, maybe even accidental
slights can can tornado into a bus full of wrestlers
and football players. No, I know, And I want to
point out this was thirty five years like all those
wounds have healed. It was hilarious at the time to us,
(02:13:40):
but man, the damage control that had to happen.
Speaker 15 (02:13:42):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:13:43):
And then my next brother's wedding was just as fun.
But her family kind of got into it. We kind
of pulled them into it.
Speaker 18 (02:13:49):
Cool.
Speaker 3 (02:13:50):
Yeah, well they they were kind of dorky, but then
they were like an Indian family that we did three
phases of the Five Days of the Indian Wedding, and
we were like, well, be like, you know, white trashy
like us, and they were way into it. And so
we all had like the Indian garbond and we were
drinking Budweiser out of cases of beer, you.
Speaker 15 (02:14:08):
Know what I mean.
Speaker 5 (02:14:09):
So please don't use trunk as a beer bong, are
you not?
Speaker 3 (02:14:12):
Okay? Pft? Comment are joining us right now from Barstool Sports,
brought to you by Yngling. Did you have any or
have you ever been to a wedding that would be
considered like, oh, this is a disaster.
Speaker 15 (02:14:24):
I wouldn't say like a disaster wedding necessarily. I was
at a wedding one time that seemed like it was
kind of a I don't want to say, I don't
want to say shotgun, but let's say like a paintball
gun wedding where the dad got up and just completely
roasted his own son in like a mean, I'm not
happy with you kind of way. You were a mistake,
like saying those kind of things with the toast, and
(02:14:47):
everybody was just sitting there kind of like nodding like
he did. He clearly did not really he was not
in love with concept of his son getting married at
the age of nineteen. But that's also he was a
big University of Texas fan, and the wedding was happening
during the tech sis text The Michael Crabtree game is
what I was getting. Yeah, it was that game. He
(02:15:08):
might have been upset about the result of that, and
then he took it out of his own son but yeah,
anything that you say at a wedding if you're if
you're in charge of giving a toast, I don't like
to give it out a lot of advice, but my
advice is just straight up like just like, make a
couple of jokes, thank the bride, thank the bride's family,
and keep it moving, because anything you say on that
microphone during a wedding night that is going to be
(02:15:28):
how everybody from that family remembers you for the rest
of your life, no matter what.
Speaker 3 (02:15:33):
Ten sentence toasts, no more than that, get it in
and ten sentences, make a joke that isn't edgy, and
get out of there alive.
Speaker 15 (02:15:44):
People think that it's it's their time to either like
try out their comedy chops and do what they got,
or it's like their time to make their point. It's like,
this is my moment, and I have the opportunity with
a captive audience to tell some hard truths, to power
up there, and it just makes it really uncomfortable for
everybody in the room.
Speaker 3 (02:16:03):
Who do you think or how do you think the
maid of honor speech will go when Bill Belichick marries
Jordan Hudson.
Speaker 15 (02:16:11):
I mean, I would love to be. I think I'm
maybe on the short list for the invites to that wedding.
I think, I think means big. That might technically be
two of Jordan's biggest supporters in the entire world, So
I can't imagine that she's got a full lit. She
might invite her entire cheerleading team to the wedding to
be in the wedding party.
Speaker 4 (02:16:31):
That would be.
Speaker 15 (02:16:31):
I hope that they wear their uniforms, because it looks
like they were all dressed up for a big night
out last night.
Speaker 3 (02:16:36):
But but hold on, let's not gloss over that she
is a member of an adult.
Speaker 5 (02:16:42):
Co ed cheerleading team.
Speaker 4 (02:16:45):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (02:16:46):
I have never even heard of that.
Speaker 15 (02:16:49):
So I've heard of cheerleading competitions, you know, where you're
not cheering for a sport, but they get all the
teams from like the high school or from the college
and they compete. They do them the tosses, all that stuff.
I've seen those before. I understand those because technically, yes,
they are cheering for teams as their main job, and
(02:17:10):
this is the competition for that. With this, it's like,
I don't know how you can be a cheerleading team
if there's no cheer to lead. Does that make sense?
Like they don't. They don't actually cheerlead, They just.
Speaker 4 (02:17:23):
They just jump.
Speaker 3 (02:17:24):
Belichick's probably you know, got her choreographers here, and they're
gonna come out there and be like, give me a
pre pre give me enough, I see. I think the
pre nupt thing is any I think she is on salary.
You know, it's already determined.
Speaker 15 (02:17:39):
Yeah, probably, I think they Listen, Bill is just having
a great time. I've never been more certain of anything
in my entire blast at that competition last night. Well,
I'm saying, he's, uh, Bill is Bill is. He's taking
care of off the field. Let's put it that way.
That's the only explanation for why he uh, why, why
why he would this situation like this. I think that
(02:18:01):
Bill is just like this is his retirement. This is
the ultimate retirement for Bill Belichick. He was never going
to quit coaching football ever. He was going to be
a lifetime coach. His retirement is just no longer coaching
in the NFL. He coaches a college team. He doesn't
really care that much about it. He technically still does
go into work and wears a whistle every day. And
then he's got like a twenty four year old girlfriend.
(02:18:23):
This is this is still riding off the un set.
Speaker 3 (02:18:26):
Yeah, I guess you have a point, you know, I
know you were impressed with Darnell Washington's performance with the
Steelers this past week. I mean this was kind of
like We've been waiting for this game for the rest
of the country to see what a behemoth he is.
And he erupted sixty seven yards and receiving while just
just slupping off defenders as if they were like little
(02:18:46):
gritters out there, you know, Pop Warner kids. But the
story of that game ended up being the spit, the
Jamar Chase and Jalen Ramsey spit.
Speaker 5 (02:18:57):
What is your spit take?
Speaker 15 (02:18:59):
Okay, so my spit take is And first of all,
with Darnell, I've been in support of Darnell's since back
in Georgia when he was on that team. We brought
Bowers and it was like, why is everybody talking about
block Bowers all the time when they have this guy
that makes him look like a child right, that plays
a tight end as well. I love Darnell. I hope
they give him the ball more. He's so much fun
to watch. But with a spit, I just heard that
(02:19:21):
that they appealed the suspension. Jamar Chase appealed to Jordy
Nelson and.
Speaker 5 (02:19:27):
Said, honorable Jordy Nelson.
Speaker 15 (02:19:30):
Judge Nelson, and Judge Nelson waged in and he said,
he said, no, you have to serve your suspension. And
Jamar's excuse was like, if I wanted to hit him
in the face, I would have hit him in the
face with my spit, not in the chest. So he
was saying it could not have been me. I'm way
more accurate. When I try to sit on the guy,
I always hate it. So I think Jamar Chase is
(02:19:52):
embarrassed that he didn't hit his face. I think he's
more embarrassed that the spit hit Ramsey's chest than it
is that he's spit in the first place. You can't
spit on a football field. You just can't do it.
And Ramsey I liked what he said because it's real emotion,
and he was like, at that point, I'm not thinking
about the game anymore. I'm just reacting. And if I
get spin on, I'm going to fight you. I'm gonna
(02:20:13):
put hands on you. And I think a lot of
us out there say that we would do that like,
I will gladly say that if somebody spits on me,
I will immediately punch them in the face and engage
in physical combat. But then when the rubber hits the road,
that's not always the case for everybody. And Jalen Ramsey
I think he's I think that's a good quality that
you want in a defensive back that they're ready to
(02:20:34):
drop the gloves at the moment's notice if they get
spinned on. He can't spin on somebody. It's just gross.
It's like, it's the grossest thing that you could do
on a football field, I think. And we joke about
the bottom of the pile like, yeah, there's you don't
want to know where the hands go out to the bottom
of the pile, and everybody like kind of laughs and
that's okay. But then when you spin on somebody, it's like, okay,
it's gotak.
Speaker 5 (02:20:54):
Who was the guy that was the grundle Graber.
Speaker 3 (02:20:56):
Remember there was a guy that was like, every time
there was a bottom of the pile.
Speaker 5 (02:20:59):
Thing you just grab, he'd go for the groundle.
Speaker 15 (02:21:02):
Christian Wilkins, that's it, right, Yeah, he got he got
to let go from the team. Uh for a very
mysterious reason this summer, but there were allegations that maybe
he was he was doing some uh let's call it
horse play. I think it's a little TV that I
can make it. He was engaged in nude horse play,
allegedly in the locker room. Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:21:24):
In his defense, aren't all horses nude?
Speaker 15 (02:21:28):
That's a great well at the saddle. They wear the
saddle sometimes. Sure the Honestly, the Raiders could use a
guy like that on defensive. I don't know if you've
watched the Ringers play much recently, but they need a
guy that nobody's doing anything at the bottom of any
of their piles. They need a guy that's not afraid
to give his wrist turdy.
Speaker 3 (02:21:48):
Well, let me ask you this at Switching to College.
I know you're upset about what's happening to James Madison.
Do you, legitimately outside of a comedic take, think that
they are getting hosed here?
Speaker 15 (02:21:59):
I actually do, because I've watched every game of there
is this season. I've watched a lot of the American Conference.
I know that the James Madison schedule is not looking
good on paper right now. They schedule those games a
long time ago, and the conference that they play in
is having a down year. And that's not jame Usfaul.
But what I have seen from JMU as a team
(02:22:20):
that is legitimately great on defense. They are an incredible
defensive team. They played awesome against Louisville as well. Louisville
had I think two explosive players that were kind of
flukish and that's how they got a lot of their points.
Jamu was also limited on offense that game because we
had a quarterback that was coming back from that was
his second game back from an ACL injury that he
(02:22:42):
suffered like eight months beforehand, so he couldn't move and
he couldn't run. And then as the season goes on,
he's become a dynamic runner and he's getting healthier, and
the offense is matching the defense. Now, I think if
you watch JAMU football, you will walk away from that
game being like, that is a very very good college team.
And what can they compete against Georgia or against Texas
(02:23:06):
Tech or whoever they would end up playing in the playoffs.
Probably not. I think that the spread, if you ask
somebody Vegas probably say the spread in that game would
be like twenty one points. But that's kind of how
it's going to be in any group of five having
to travel to one of the big dogs in play.
But I think if you watch Jami, you play. I've
(02:23:26):
seen Tulane play as well. Tulane's is a good football team.
I think that JAMI will be favored against Ulane. I
think that JAMU is a very very well coached, dominant
defensive team. They didn't give up a single second half
point for like six weeks in a row. It was
pretty incredible what they've done. And then they crushed app
State last week. We got the Cougars from Washington State
(02:23:47):
coming to town this weekend. And if you guys want
to really have a good laugh about how ridiculous some
college football schedules have become, look at Washington State schedule
this year, because they don't really have a conference.
Speaker 3 (02:24:00):
Nomads.
Speaker 15 (02:24:00):
They're Barnes storming across the country and I believe they
play games against nine different conferences in twenty twenty five
and they play the Oregon State twice. They have a
home and home against Oregon set.
Speaker 5 (02:24:13):
I've never even heard of that.
Speaker 15 (02:24:15):
Yeah, because they're the only two members of the Pac
twelve that still for you know, kept the alliance. They
have all the intellectual property to Pack twelve. So they said, okay,
we have to keep playing each other in order to
keep going with our claim that we are still the
zombie version of the PAC twelve conference. So yeah, they
have a home and home against Oregon State. I was
saying they should do it like in soccer, where it's
(02:24:37):
just an aggregate on the tow score for both matchups
and then that team ends up winning the conference. But
I guess, Jamie, the only thing they can do right now,
we got two We got two roads. One is just
just dominate Washington State this weekend at home, and the
other is hope that hope that Tulane loses to Temple
on Saturday. And it's been the kiss of death for
(02:24:58):
the group of five for the last uh last couple
of weeks, where whoever they put in they end up
losing that week. So hopefully that trend continues this week.
Speaker 3 (02:25:05):
All right, last thing for you, I know you got
a kick out of seeing George W. Bush in the
The Manning Cast broadcast this past week. Who is your
ideal Manning Cast guest Manning cat?
Speaker 15 (02:25:17):
I mean, let's see, we got we had Bush on
there Condoleeza Rice was on there without he's in Is
he in Russia right now? I'm sure he's not doing
that much. I'm sure that he'd be willing to talk
to I mean, Mohammed and Salmon's in the country right now.
Maybe he can stop by and be on the cast
(02:25:38):
for the boys. But yeah, see w on there on
what that was a surprise to me. The last person
that I expected to see on the Manning cast was
George W. Bush. And I guess the Manning family and
the Bush family have a little bit in common, right,
Like I feel like Peyton is probably Jeb and then.
Speaker 3 (02:25:56):
Eli is w How did he do it?
Speaker 4 (02:26:01):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (02:26:01):
Yeah, how did he do it?
Speaker 3 (02:26:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 15 (02:26:03):
Yeah, yeah, exactly h Eli should have been commissioned Major
League Baseball. That's what we do. I told Big Cat,
I would love to have George W. Bush on part
of my take. I don't think that I would I
would ever be allowed to interview anybody of note ever
again if we did interview, but I would like that
opportunity to talk to him and just kind of pick
his brain about you know what's like starting a war
(02:26:26):
probably makes it like, to be honest, that made you
feel like pretty cool, powerful, right, Like I feel like
we would we would have a lot to talk about. So, uh,
while Big Kat doesn't really feel comfortable doing political interviews,
I think that's one that I would be willing to,
uh to to put my neck on the line for.
But yeah, so I don't know who they're going to
have next time, but I think they've had three war
criminals on the show right now, So it's always it's
(02:26:48):
always fun. Stan Payton just chopping up with the boys
like that.
Speaker 3 (02:26:51):
You speaking of chopping up, did you see the bashar
Al sades.
Speaker 5 (02:26:55):
New obsession is online gaming.
Speaker 15 (02:26:59):
I have not what's he getting into?
Speaker 5 (02:27:01):
What I think he's he's he's just he really has captain.
Speaker 3 (02:27:04):
He's been sitting in Russia where I guess he was
almost poisoned not long ago. Uh, he's just he loves
online gaming, whether it's gambling or like games of chance
of any kind. He really enjoys just gaming online. Now
that he's done DEAs spotting fan duel is just gonna
be an actual duelist.
Speaker 15 (02:27:24):
Who monst just doesn't enjoy that sometimes. Listen if if
he if there's a way that I could follow his picks,
I absolutely you never know, Like the guy. The guy
might get hot, and he might, so yeah, I'm down
for that. And also I just found out that that
Bill left the show, and I think it's very cool
(02:27:44):
what he's doing. So he's probably not listening right now.
If he's doing stand up, he's probably taking advantage of
sleeping in a little bit. But if he does hear
this Bill, that's awesome. Congratulations, rooting for.
Speaker 4 (02:27:54):
You, buddy.
Speaker 3 (02:27:55):
Yeah, where I was gonna steer you there and let
you know he'll be coming to Chicago soon and make
sure you and the boys get out and see him.
Speaker 15 (02:28:01):
Absolutely we will.
Speaker 3 (02:28:03):
By the way, I think Bashar Alisade is also baking bread.
He's into sour dough. Oh good, Yeah, this.
Speaker 15 (02:28:08):
Is this is what this is what people do after
they commit genocide. They get off you do like George W. Bush,
George B. Busch's big watercolor guy. Yeah, trying to relax
to an art therapy. So yeah, good for good forshar.
I hope he's u. I hope he's just chilling somewhere.
Speaker 3 (02:28:26):

I saw you on DVY.
Speaker 3 (02:29:06):

real life and how that kneesha can make these big, huge,
unexpected changes in our lives. DV Sports Mike Chrisuina's got

Speaker 10 (02:29:25):
Aaron Rodgers isn't out, but he isn't in for the
Chicago game on Sunday, at least not yet. Mike Tomlin
talking yesterday about what's gonna happen this week, they will
see about Rogers and his pain tolerance and if they
can get embraced up and if he's able to protect
himself and do what he needs to do as a
football player, and how well he can do it despite
(02:29:48):
his broken left wrist does not require surgery, by the.
Speaker 5 (02:29:51):
Way, that's the really good news.
Speaker 10 (02:29:54):
Tom ha made it sound as if Rogers isn't going
to practice until Friday, and then we will see after that.
In the meantime, it's Mason Rudolph and Will Howard getting
prepped for the Bears in Chicago on Sunday. Sunday, excuse me,
Alex high Smith limited with a peck.
Speaker 5 (02:30:11):
He'll be limited early this week.
Speaker 10 (02:30:12):
We'll see how well he can practice and if he
can practice as.
Speaker 5 (02:30:17):
The week proceeds.
Speaker 10 (02:30:19):
Keishawn Williams is in the concussion protocol. Darius Slay, according
to Tomlin, is on the other side of the protocol.
At least that's what Tomlin imagined yesterday. And there's optimism
regarding the availabilities of Cole Holcom and Jalen Warren.
Speaker 5 (02:30:35):
Could be worse well.
Speaker 3 (02:30:37):
Warren, it sounded like they just you know, he said
as much. It was an abundance of caution there and
they felt like they can get by with Gainwell, why
risk Warren for the future given that, as we talked about,
they seemed to be coming to the same realization we
all are.
Speaker 5 (02:30:48):
The offense needs to go through number thirty.
Speaker 10 (02:30:50):
They actually had him back in the game after he
got hurt from one series right, well, they did ended
up not running the play. They called the time out
and then they decided to run a different play, but
he was back in, and then after that they just said,
you know what, this is going fine, don't put him in.
Speaker 5 (02:31:04):
Yeah, yeah, And.
Speaker 3 (02:31:08):
You know, Caleb Johnson had a chance to make a
little bit of a splash. That face mask was real.
Speaker 10 (02:31:12):
But you're starting to see the burst when he's carrying
the ball. It's slowly nudging into the toward where they
want it to be. But game will had a big game.
Caleb Johnson may be a factor at some point. Yet
we shall see big game in Chicago obviously.
Speaker 5 (02:31:30):
Mid to late November. They're all starting to get pretty big.
Speaker 10 (02:31:32):
But if the Steelers can get to seven and four,
they have a seventy two point three percent chance to
make the playoffs. According to NFL research. Those are the
percentages since nineteen ninety what if they go to six
and five forty three point five percent?
Speaker 5 (02:31:47):
That is good? Wow, what a drop?
Speaker 10 (02:31:49):
Not as good a big drop and as much fun
as it is to look at these historical percentages, it's
going to come down to the Ravens games. We knew
that when the schedule came out, didn't we They I'll
play the Ravens twice.
Speaker 5 (02:32:02):
If you listen to the Bears and you beat.
Speaker 10 (02:32:04):
Baltimore, I think Baltimore is beatable, very beatable. I think
Chicago's beatable. Two At seven and three, the Bears have
played two teams that are five hundred or better as
we speak. They lost to the Ravens thirty to sixteen.
Ravens are five and five, and they lost to the
Lions fifty two to twenty one. The Lions are six
(02:32:27):
and four.
Speaker 3 (02:32:27):
That's when they couldn't score with a minute and a
half first and goal from the three. What it covered
the Suns the Ravens.
Speaker 5 (02:32:36):
I called Mike that morning, I'm like.
Speaker 4 (02:32:37):
This is a lock.
Speaker 3 (02:32:38):
This is it.
Speaker 4 (02:32:41):
They have.
Speaker 10 (02:32:43):
Also lost to the four and six Minnesota Vikings, but
they beat the four and six Vikings last Sunday. The
Bears have also beaten the two and nine Giants, the
three and seven Bengals, the two and eight Saints, the
three and eight Commanders, the two and eight Raiders, and
the four to five and one Cowboys.
Speaker 5 (02:33:00):
That is a soft are right there? Nobody very game.
Speaker 3 (02:33:07):
Big cast been saying all along that he hasn't been
necessarily a huge believer in the Bears, not yet. And
this is somebody who's watching very closely, like her nipples
are early showing, and I'm these guys are really looking
really uh, he is that guy, and he is he
just said last week for the first time that he
thinks they might be good based on last week's win.
Speaker 10 (02:33:28):
I think they're committed to running the ball. I think
their quarterback does not throw a ton of interceptions. In fact,
he's very good at protecting the ball. But his uh,
he's only completed fifty nine point seven percent of his
pass is not very accurate.
Speaker 5 (02:33:43):
That is better only.
Speaker 10 (02:33:44):
Than JJ McCarthy, cam Ward and Dylan Gabriel, I will
say those that stinks. But yes, inestin the interception thing,
nineteen of his first twenty seven career starts, he has
not been picked off, which is great.
Speaker 3 (02:33:56):
The teams're citing that they beat and how they haven't
really beat anybody. I mean, I think you have to
acknowledge the Bears have gotten better as the year is
going on, like they are a team that is a
work in progress, but they are the arrow is pointing up.
Speaker 10 (02:34:12):
See you think they could probably score a meetingless touchdown
for the one.
Speaker 3 (02:34:15):
Yards I'm saying is this week, I think they would
backdoor cover.
Speaker 10 (02:34:18):
They've also been incredibly resourceful five wins when trailing inside
of two minutes to go. If you do it that
many times, it's not lucky. You have to stick to
it in this and I don't know, well, Steelers not
exactly team consistency either. You look at their defense their
top three in the NFL in sacks and takeaways. Third
(02:34:41):
in sacks with thirty three, second in takeaways with eighteen,
they are dead last and passing yards per game allowed
at two six one.
Speaker 3 (02:34:51):

Speaker 3 (02:36:34):
Fifty Steady Morning Show. Randy Bauman, along with Abby Prisoner
and Mike PURSUITA. Jeff Conkle has been hanging with us
this morning. We've been doing kind of the running back
by committee since uh Bill departed the show. And you know,
it was just such a quick turnaround that we're like,
all right, well, we'll just do this for a while
until we figure out what's going on. But I'm a
(02:36:55):
permanent I'm like a permanent sub I have no authority
here I have You don't have to listen to anything
I say.
Speaker 5 (02:37:02):
You're Alexander Haig in the eighties, Yeah, you know what suck.
Speaker 10 (02:37:05):
When I was growing up, my dad was a school
teacher and all the subs know them. So when the
subs have committed, I decked like a jackass. It would
get right down.
Speaker 3 (02:37:14):
Yeah, you had no leeway at all.
Speaker 5 (02:37:17):
And I didn't really figure that out for like several years.
Speaker 3 (02:37:22):
Why am I.
Speaker 5 (02:37:22):
Getting my ass kids so much?
Speaker 3 (02:37:24):
Oh, there's a narc. Back in nineteen ninety five, I
was listening to the DVE Morning show with Paulson and
Krenn and Scott. Paulson played a song from a singer
songwriter and I thought, that's one of the coolest songs
I've ever heard. It was funny, it was smart, and
it was performed perfectly. And that was a song by
(02:37:48):
Todd Snyder. Todd Snyder did into appearances back then when
he was he was kind of on a path to
really hit it big back then, and it never happened.
In the respect of popular acceptance. He never became a
huge Nashville star, but in terms of influence and the
people on the Americana sort of scene, he stood alone.
(02:38:12):
He was the disciple of John Prine basically, and he
could write tunes faster than anybody could steal them from him,
and he was a brilliant guy. He tragically died this
past week, and he'd had such a tough run. He
just recorded a new album, he was about to launch
a tour and in Salt Lake City he ended up
getting attacked violently outside of his hotel, ended up in
(02:38:33):
the hospital. Long story short like, things didn't go great
in the hospital there, and he went back to Nashville
and ended up getting pneumonia and he passed away. But
he was such a great singer songwriter. And I thought
you guys would like this one. This was Todd Snyder
and his ode to Doc Ellis, And you named for
me another singer songwriter who named checks Danny Murta. Well,
(02:38:56):
Doc Dallas.
Speaker 12 (02:38:57):
Didn't think he was pitching that day back in nineteen
seventy when he and his wife took a trip to
the ballpark a little bit differently.
Speaker 5 (02:39:07):
So by the time that he.
Speaker 12 (02:39:08):
Hit the bullpen, half the world had melted. And wait,
that's about the time Coach march Talk.
Speaker 3 (02:39:15):
Came and said, Doc, your pitching today.
Speaker 12 (02:39:19):
Taking them on the ground turned into the ice known
birthday k that a leadoff man came up and turned
down to a Dancingerado, snake of that crowd, track back
and fourth, the waves of color underneath the son of
that ball turned down to a silver bullet, his arm
(02:39:39):
into gone. I took a look all around the world
one time. I finally his go over. You can't judge
bull three up, three down for three street and he's
in the rule zero tie as all of them about
(02:39:59):
his names. Games coming ringing from a voice out of
the sky, holosing lit and how the wings scenes each
new swing at the battle of that sinkle looked like
it was falling off the table, but nobody was hallucinating nothing.
He took a look all around in the world one time.
Finally its go over. I can't judge boy by the
(02:40:26):
top blud seventy was up one to nothing and giving
them padres fins about the bottom of the eighth. He
was up to the nothing and still hanging out in
their heads with one hour left to go in the game.
Speaker 4 (02:40:40):
The battle looked like.
Speaker 12 (02:40:41):
A baby child of that birthday cake was shaking them.
Speaker 4 (02:40:45):
Waves of color was going wild.
Speaker 12 (02:41:00):
Time that he moved the last man down, he was
izy man, laughing to the sound of the world going around,
completely unaware of the wind and while the papers would
say he was scattered that day, he was pretty as
the picture could be. The day Doc Ellison the Pittsburgh
Pirates through a no hitter on ELSD all around the
(02:41:24):
world one time, I finally school you can't judge Bore.
Speaker 3 (02:41:37):
Todd snight. Wow, cool song the ballot of Doc Ellis.
He was one of one of a kind, no doubt
about it. Special. Thanks to Merrill Hodge for joining us

commenter and of course Jeff Conkle, mister Wednesday, you got
anything coming up? Nothing coming up? But just as a reminder.
We were talking about this in the break. It's the
anniversary of the Gettysburg Address. So go out there and
it's it's like it's like it's like a good speech
like we were talking about with PFD commenter. It's like
ten sentences long, and it's a good it's a good
thing to remind yourself about. It is the Gettysburg dress
address that short? It's like less than like a minute
(02:42:42):
and a half. It is so unbelievably short, and uh,
and it was very impactful.
Speaker 10 (02:42:48):
Obviously, Lincoln was an afterthought invitee to the ceremony which
dedicated the National Cemetery, and if some blow hard talk
for two hours before him, and.
Speaker 5 (02:43:00):
So he was like, show this guy what it's like.
Speaker 3 (02:43:02):
Yeah, brevity is the soul of lit. Well, it wasn't
nothing witty about that, actually, But four score is that's
eighty years right, Huh. Yeah, we don't call anything by
a score in on this score. We also don't weigh
things by stones anymore or measure them by hands.
Speaker 5 (02:43:19):
Yeah, or league still do horses by hands, don't you?
You do horses by hands, but nothing else.
Speaker 10 (02:43:24):
We still measure power by horsepower though, Huh. It's all
very confusing, and we still approach horses and ask why
the lod face.
Speaker 3 (02:43:33):
That's Mike Pursuda and Michelle's coming up next with the
Electric Lunch at noon Steelers Bear Sunday, one o'clock right

Speaker 3 (02:43:54):

Speaker 5 (02:43:56):

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media yesterday for
his weekly press conference, and he shed some light on
some of the injury issues plaguing the Steelers. First and foremost,
when it comes to quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Mike Tomlin confirmed
that it was a small fracture in his left wrist
and that the injury will not require surgery. Rogers has
been classified as day to day and will not practice today,
yielding first team reps to quarterback Mason Rudolph as the
(02:44:33):
team begins to prep for the Chicago Bears. Elsewhere on
the injury front, Alex Higsmith, who missed last week's game
with a peck injury, will begin this week in a
limited capacity but has a chance to play Sunday. The
same can be said about running back Jalen Warren an
inside linebacker. Cole Holcomb, who coached Tomlin, is optimistic when
it comes to their participation Sunday, but will also begin
the week in a limited manner. Cornerback Darius Slay has
(02:44:55):
cleared the concussion protocol and will return to the practice
field today and also returned to his starting spot in
the defense. Coach Foma confirmed that yesterday at his press conference,
and this is in spite of the fact.
Speaker 18 (02:45:05):
That cornerback James Pierre has been more than.
Speaker 17 (02:45:07):
Impressive while filling in in Sligh's absence the past couple
of weeks.
