you get that call that you've been nominated for a Grammy?

I was in Spain, in Barcelona. We were doing the
Los Cordenta Awards. It was such a beautiful day in
my life. I think it might have been my favorite

but it was my favorite day.

So we just like watched the stream we we got in.

I was getting my head shaved and get my makeup
done for let's go into awards.

I I I get I buy like thousands of glasses

just remember my first time being in a show and
like seeing an artist and it like setting me on fire.
It was two thousand and seven tour and I watched
I watched, I watched Kohet and Camria like they he

did Claudio Sanchez stage dove and I like felt his
curly hair.

And it was like that Suells like strawberries, Oh my god.
And I was on fire too. I was on fire
to sing for the rest of my life.

And so now when I like go on stage and
I see kid in the front road that's there and
love like seven, nine years, ten years old, I'm always
gonna hand out my glasses or my earring or something
because that that will be like something that might light
the next kid on fire. Who's sitting in this room
saying my first concert was Teddy Swims and and it's
Michael Jackson we're talking to, you know, and He's like,

I have saw Teddy Swims when I was nine years
old and changed my life forever.

So I stopped.

Buying expensive sunglasses because I'd like be heading. I'd be
handing guccies out to these little kids, oh Dawn, and
I'd be like, why do I do that? I mean,
I guess, I guess like the five hundred bucks like
doesn't matter as much as what that moment will mean
to that kid.

But also ten dollars glasses also mean as much. It's
just me for jewelry, you know.

So I'm wearing nothing, but that turns my stuff green,
you know what I mean? That's that's all they're getting
off of me. Now I'm not I'm not giving that
kid my David Yurman ring.

I just paid for fifteen tickets just by giving him

When we tried doing our in our camp saying every
day it's a good day to be us, I learned
from my dear friend Allen Stone. It's a good day
to be us. And also reprioritizing gratefulness is what I
call it. We had a great night and through the weekend,
I had a great night, and and then you know,
getting up at six thirty this morning was yeah. I mean,

I thought when I was doing this job, I was
going to be like able to be just a child
and a degenerate forever, you know, and then it turns
out you can't get away from being an adult, and
that sucks. But some days, some days I'm like, man,
this sucks. But also I reprioritize gratefulness, where I'm like, man,
I'm doing the best job in the world of my
best friends, it's not that bad. Get over yourself, what
are you complaining about? And so I learned how to

like tell myself, man, have fun. This is fun. You
love this. And then also there are some days you
just want to be upset, and you also got to
give yourself the space to do that too.

Some days I just want to walk around and be like,
no shit.

And then some days you got to be a baby,
you know, if you want to, and that's what you need.
You got to do that too, and so learning how
to prioritize gratefulness when it feels like a job, but
also learning how to be upset.

If you need to be.

Upset, lean into whatever and be honest with yourself and
then be that.

Listen to yourself. You know, if you want to be upset,
you need a day to be. You need a day
to just slave in your bed and cry if you
need it. It seems like every time I hear you
say anything, I learned something and I appreciate that. And
people are driving to work right now going damn man,
he's right. I'm turning around right now going home and
laying in my bed and crying.

We just went and had our little vacation in Mali

time we've been together too, I've been working all the
time too, so we hadn't really had like a week
of like just really being together. Usually like she's seeing
me on tour or on tour with me, playing on
tour with me, and we haven't really our whole relationship
ever had like a week just together, you know, which

Like I mean, it was so relaxing and so wonderful.

We connected, But those those things that were coming up
that I was like, dang, I didn't even know how
much I've been working and how these things were coming

but in February to kick off that tour, so doing
June too, and so are.

You're singing at the Grammys Friday. What is it when
you get that call that you've been nominated for a Grammy?

I was in Spain, in Barcelona. We were doing the
Los Cordenta Awards. It was such a beautiful day in
my life. I think it might have been my favorite
day other than tomorrow, of course, and and I like that, yeah,
but it was my favorite day.

So we just like watched the stream we we got in.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
I was getting my head shaved and get my makeup
done for let's go into awards.
Speaker 5 (08:02):
And I don't always wear makeup, by the way, I
just want to throw that out there, and just for.

War shows, I need to believe you always have Yeah,
I do idea like, okay make up.

I wear little panties too.

So now now what I've been doing though lately is
I I I get I buy like thousands of glasses
on like at seat that are cheap glasses because if
you got a kid in the crowd and I I
just remember my first time being in a show and
like seeing an artist and it like setting me on fire.
It was two thousand and seven tour and I watched
I watched, I watched Kohet and Camria like they he

did Claudio Sanchez stage dove and I like felt his
curly hair.
Speaker 5 (08:55):
And it was like that Suells like strawberries, Oh my god.
And I was on fire too. I was on fire
to sing for the rest of my life.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
And so now when I like go on stage and
I see kid in the front road that's there and
love like seven, nine years, ten years old, I'm always
gonna hand out my glasses or my earring or something
because that that will be like something that might light
the next kid on fire. Who's sitting in this room
saying my first concert was Teddy Swims and and it's
Michael Jackson we're talking to, you know, and He's like,

I have saw Teddy Swims when I was nine years
old and changed my life forever.

So I stopped.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
Buying expensive sunglasses because I'd like be heading. I'd be
handing guccies out to these little kids, oh Dawn, and
I'd be like, why do I do that? I mean,
I guess, I guess like the five hundred bucks like
doesn't matter as much as what that moment will mean
to that kid.
Speaker 5 (09:40):
But also ten dollars glasses also mean as much. It's
just me for jewelry, you know.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
So I'm wearing nothing, but that turns my stuff green,
you know what I mean? That's that's all they're getting
off of me. Now I'm not I'm not giving that
kid my David Yurman ring.
Speaker 5 (09:57):
That's what.

Good idea. I'm like, you have a room.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
I just paid for fifteen tickets just by giving him
the ring, you know what I mean. The crowd went
wild when he whipped out the Prince Albert ring. Gracious,
good God.

Have you no shame? This is what this is from.
That's just how I'm hanging. That's kind of pain right off,
my John brother. That's kind of hurt a little bit
at the beginning.

When we tried doing our in our camp saying every
day it's a good day to be us, I learned
from my dear friend Allen Stone. It's a good day
to be us. And also reprioritizing gratefulness is what I
call it. We had a great night and through the weekend,
I had a great night, and and then you know,
getting up at six thirty this morning was yeah. I mean,
(11:18):
I thought when I was doing this job, I was
going to be like able to be just a child
and a degenerate forever, you know, and then it turns
out you can't get away from being an adult, and
that sucks. But some days, some days I'm like, man,
this sucks. But also I reprioritize gratefulness, where I'm like, man,
I'm doing the best job in the world of my
best friends, it's not that bad. Get over yourself, what
are you complaining about? And so I learned how to
(11:41):
like tell myself, man, have fun. This is fun. You
love this. And then also there are some days you
just want to be upset, and you also got to
give yourself the space to do that too.
Speaker 5 (11:49):
Some days I just want to walk around and be like,
no shit.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
And then some days you got to be a baby,
you know, if you want to, and that's what you need.
You got to do that too, and so learning how
to prioritize gratefulness when it feels like a job, but
also learning how to be upset.
Speaker 5 (12:03):
If you need to be.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
Upset, lean into whatever and be honest with yourself and
then be that.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
Listen to yourself. You know, if you want to be upset,
you need a day to be. You need a day
to just slave in your bed and cry if you
need it. It seems like every time I hear you
say anything, I learned something and I appreciate that. And
people are driving to work right now going damn man,
he's right. I'm turning around right now going home and
laying in my bed and crying.

on fire. Was great on a beach.

Yeah, we were in Mali.

We just went and had our little vacation in Mali
and had such a blast and connected. Also the whole
time we've been together too, I've been working all the
time too, so we hadn't really had like a week
of like just really being together. Usually like she's seeing
me on tour or on tour with me, playing on
tour with me, and we haven't really our whole relationship
ever had like a week just together, you know, which

is quite strange.
Speaker 5 (13:45):
Like I mean, it was so relaxing and so wonderful.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
We connected, But those those things that were coming up
that I was like, dang, I didn't even know how
much I've been working and how these things were coming
up as problems. And I was like, man, I got
a really lock in with my little baby. You know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
I know, but you're you're going to roll into Germany
but in February to kick off that tour, so doing
June too, and so are.
Speaker 4 (14:09):
We all going?
Speaker 5 (14:10):
Is the whole family going together? Well?
Speaker 3 (14:11):
I mean, of course, like we're trying to like buying
a place and look at places, buy and set up
shop so we can have that baby.

In June, you know, and I'll be picked out. We're
thinking of a couple.

You're not going to name your kid that don't share.

just did it with the crew backstage.
