Speaker 1 (00:01):
Live from the Mercedes Benz Interview Loud Wow.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Tomorrow nights tonight. My girls Danielle and Gandhi going to
be in Aladdin on Broadway. On Broadway. Ye you have
your own song? Yeah, it's kind of cool. Aladdin has
been doing this. Gosh, this is their tenth anniversary year

(00:28):
and you're talking about these big mega hits like Lion King,
like in Hamilton and Wicked. Aladdin is up there with them.
It's so good and you're going to be in the show.
Are they crazy?

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Yes? Are they nuts? I think so? Of course.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
In Aladdin, it's the Genie who really is truly in
my in my opinion, he's amazing the heart of the
whole show. And so he's here. Michael James Scott from
Aladdin is right over there.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
Oh my god, Oh my god, holy wait. We're like,
we're here, We're here, We're here. Excuse me, where's my
gold microphone? I understand it's your show, this was you know,
I think you deserve.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Where's my frigging flying carpet, my carbage lamp, my garbage
don't fly?

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Thank you so much for being here, thank you for
having me. I mean, come on, this is iconic.

Speaker 5 (01:30):
You know, talk shell situation ready, I mean, come on now, man, yes.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Yes, you know, here's something I gotta talk about. I
got to bring this out right here at the beginning. So,
Michael Jamescott, Genie from Aladdin on Broadway is here. We
do five shows a week. You do eight shows a week,
and you do a lot more work than we do
on this caved in thing. How do you do that?

Speaker 6 (01:51):
Your epic number friend, like me, in itself, takes more
energy than anything we do.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
It's insane, it is.

Speaker 5 (01:58):
It is crazy. It's a lot, it is. But it's
a dream. I mean, come on, it is a dream
job and a dream thing to get to play the Genie,
but also just to be on Broadway. When I look
out into the audience, I get to see, you know,
faces right at me. It's a little bit different here
because you're not seeing everyone looking right at you, you know, thank.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
God most of them are naked in a shower. But
we have that too. No, I just talk about dreams
come true. I mean, how long have you been in
Aladdin on Broadway? So I have been in Aladdin since
the very beginning. I've been playing the Genie full time
since twenty sixteen. Where I went to Australia to originate

(02:41):
the role there then and I was in London, I
was Broadway.

Speaker 5 (02:46):
I've done it. I've done it around. They've taken me
on my I call it my Genie journey around the world.
Just been incredible. But truly I am the testament of
anything as possible. And I always say this, if a
little chubby chocolate child from Orlando, Florida could grow up
one day to be the Genie in Aladdin on Broadway,
literally anything as possible from now.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
From now on, you will be known as my my
little chubby chuck child. You've been in since the beginning
ten years ago. Were you ever the understudy for genies? Yes,
I was the original standby for the Genka. I want
to talk about the stand by? Yes, Well, so that
means you have a stand by, Yes I have. So
do you help choose who the standby is?

Speaker 3 (03:29):
No?

Speaker 2 (03:29):
No, because if I if I had my stand by here,
I would make sure they were not as talented as.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
But not as chubby, not as chocolate, you know what
I'm saying. Definitely not as chocolate first, So that is true.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
You want them to be you actually want them to
be amazing you really do you want them because because
when you were not there, you you you want the
show to be in good hands. And when you are
the lead of the show, you really do feel that
on your you feel you feel that.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
So I'm sorry, guys, I wish I agree with him
here when I'm not here, I want to sing Judge
crash and burn, and it always does.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
I'm kidding, Well, you know it's not. It's not Michael
James Scott.

Speaker 5 (04:11):
It's just a different take, which is also amazing because
our show allows for the genie. Especially you have to
be you, you have to bring you, and so when
you are bringing you to the role and your authenticity,
you're on apologetic ridiculousness of it all. Okay, you know
it's it's really kind of fun to get to see
another version.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Let's go back. Let's go back to when you were
a kid.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
And of course, if you're like the rest of us,
you had these dreams of being on a stage and
singing or acting or something.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
You didn't know what it was.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
But one day you got a call and they said,
mister Michael Jamescott, please, we need you, We need you
on a stage, we want you in this production. What
was your very first walk onto a stage and where
you had to you had a part?

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Yes, so oh my God's just I was just talking
about this.

Speaker 5 (04:55):
So I when the the national tour of Joseph and
the Amazing Technical Dream Coke came to Orlando, Florida, and
they had the children's choir, uh for their for their choir,
and I was picked to be in that choir. And
what was your character's name, Michael James Scott, the.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Kid choir member? Remember choir?

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Remember number six, the kid. But okay, when you did
that those performances, did you feel did you feel it?
You're like, okay, this is me forevermore. Yes, because I
got to walk across the state. There were four kids
that walked across the stage and when they were like going,
you know, they're traveling across uh Egypt, I think like,
you know, and I have a sign. It's just like

(05:39):
too or like basically each city was like this is
the amount of miles to the next city. In mine,
I got to be the Orlando sign. So when I
walked across the stage in my like white shorts, my head,
my mother like white kads, my green like polo shirt,
and my white socks, I walked across the stage and
they were like, you know, you're just gonna do a
fastle to walk.

Speaker 5 (05:58):
No, no, no, not for Michael James Scott. He's across
the stage. Oh yes, he did, stopped in the center
and did a turn and then walked, got an applause
and thought, oh, I'm here.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
So that's what it is.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
You know, there are a lot of great actors out
there that can do stage, screen, every everything, and a
lot of them who have become huge movie stars will
tell you they still get more enjoyment out of being
on stage because you have that immediate connection with an
audience that's right there.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
And at the same time, you also know if if
you're not hitting them as hard as they were hit
last night, yes, so you you have good in bed
coming back at you all the time or whatever.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
That.

Speaker 5 (06:42):
Yes, that's what also makes the role of the Genie
so incredible and such a why I've been able to
do it for as long as I happen, because it
is so different everything, and I literally get to break
the fall. The curtain comes down and there I am
on the stage and I feel right away, oh we go,
this is.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
Gonna be a long or it's not always you. It's
a universe. Yes, I know.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
The good great thing about the Genie character is you
do you interact live with the audience. I mean you
look at them and you you aside to them, and yes,
you break down at some it's interesting. The show is
pretty set, but I do get to add my isms,
which is amazing. But I get to talk to the
to the audience, and that, to me is what's so fun.
And I literally get to you know, wink it's winks

(07:29):
and and and you know, you get to see you
see them singing along with you.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
You see.

Speaker 5 (07:33):
That to me is what makes the show so special.
And it's always why people connect to the Genie because
immediately the Genie is like, what's up?

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Welcome? You know what I mean, I got you. You're ready, You're.

Speaker 5 (07:43):
Ready to come for this great And even if you
see somebody sort of like you know, sometimes I see
like uncomfortable, like you know, obviously someone that's dragged, you know,
someone's feet there, and they're like, because our show is
for everyone. So there's date nights, there's family nights, there's
you know, all kinds of things, and so you coming
and I always love like going right to that person

(08:05):
because I will crack that smile. I will make them
crack that smile, and as soon as they smile, I'm like, yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Here you go. The challenge is on just turning us on.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
This is Michael James Scott of course Aladdin celebrating his
tenth anniversary this year, and daniel and Gandhi will be
on stage. We ran their lines earlier, and a little
more work needs to go into this book.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
It's gonna be good. It's gonna be good. Yes, I
have so many questions, so let's go.

Speaker 6 (08:31):
The first thing you mentioned how you walked across the
stage and you did a turn and you sash it off. Yes,
how would be received if Danielle and I did that?

Speaker 3 (08:40):
Well, I am not going to suggest that you just
go rogue, but I.

Speaker 5 (08:47):
Will say making you that's the thing about it, and
that's what's really fun about especially the parts.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
That you all are doing.

Speaker 5 (08:52):
You is really you know, y'all are y'all are y'all
are like the magical sprinkles, like a part of the show.
So it's it's important that you bring you and all
of your amazingness to to it. So you know, add
a little something something a little little little flair.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
Yes, something.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
My suggestion is as a fortune teller, as you play,
you should have a nice accent of some sort.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
How do we feel about that? But she wanted to
do German or Miley Cyrus. He looks like you want
your fortune.

Speaker 5 (09:25):
My Yeah, I mean I think I don't know who
would be laughing hard of the cast on stage. So
but you might throw them for a whole line.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
Yes, here, here we go. Okay, so you're walking, you're
walking through the market.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
You all get into the marketplace, right you have people
selling uh spices, yes, spices, and carpet cleaner for your
your transportations, yes, yes, and then QZ fortune teller.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
Hey guys, but you want to know about them? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (10:05):
One human strong and one rais with with lack of
money problem, money problem.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
Complicated. I don't know. I think there's something here.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
This is good.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
I'm speechless at this.

Speaker 5 (10:27):
You know what, I will probably get in trouble if
I tell you, yes, you should do that, But I
think that's actually amazing.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
What she needs some sort of the person, the person
who plays the fortune teller. Is there some exotic, mysterious voice.

Speaker 5 (10:41):
Our fortune teller Keisha, who is amazing she and she
will gracefully yield. Let you take her part from the evening,
which is she's amazing.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
She does it's it's.

Speaker 5 (10:51):
Yes, there is a there is like a thing that
she does. But she's herself. She really is like she brings,
she brings this sort of like you know, mysterious quality
to to to her. I said, he's got the gold
mic and it comes so yeah, well okay, so Danielle
is a gold mic. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
So Danielle is playing with the Genie in the game show,
right right, I am the host. Well no, I'm not
the co host.

Speaker 5 (11:22):
Yes, which is also now I will say, you gotta
you know you're with the gen I know it's a
very it's a situation.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
Yes, but you just got but you just gotta just
come on, just match energy. Do you have your lines?
My lines here? Okay, okay, okay, do you remember do
you remember your line? You've been doing this for James
Scott doesn't remember his life and he's been doing it
for ten years. Here we go, Okay, here we go,

(11:54):
here we go.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (11:55):
Now you can say, let's see what's having curtain number one? Uh,
it's here's the pie. But no, here please and tell
them please welcome.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
Let's take it.

Speaker 5 (12:03):
Look at some of the amazing pia like a contessa
wish for Let's see what's behind curtain number one.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
It's a brand new washering tryer, No, you can.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Turn all your ding laundry into a one thousand and
one Alabian white.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
Let's see what's behind number two. You can see it's
a pine bubbles. Oh, the only goose you need to get.

Speaker 4 (12:24):
This is great.

Speaker 3 (12:26):
I'm feeling it. This is really good. See that what
I'm saying, I'm saying you shouldn't say it's something to gonos.
You see only ganoos you need to know. It's the
only canoose you need to go. This is gonna be
amazing night.

Speaker 5 (12:37):
I mean, whether you're coming to the show, but you're
give it full direction on the whole situation.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
I'm always behind the camera.

Speaker 6 (12:44):
What if Danielle did it in the accent of Miley Cyrus?

Speaker 3 (12:47):
Oh, I don't want to do that.

Speaker 5 (12:50):
Okay, take number one, ladies, please, I'm happy for my girls.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
The only time they let me on Broad is when
I walk on. Hey, so Michael James Scott is here,
of course, Uh the genie and uh but you know
what what's next. I'm I'm just saying. I'm not saying
you're ever leaving a lad and that's not what I'm saying.
But I'm saying, I mean switching gears. Is there any
other type of role that you would just love to

(13:19):
do on a stage or on a camera?

Speaker 3 (13:23):
Well, you know what i mean.

Speaker 5 (13:24):
People ask me this a lot because the Genie is
a lot to live up to the Genie like after
the Genie and what that is. I it's interesting. There
isn't a role right now that I want to do
on Broadway yet. It hasn't been written, but it sounds
like you want to stay on Broadway. I love stage,
but I also I also I do listen. I'm also
at the camera, like you know the film TV. That's

(13:46):
also great. I love hosting. I love the host situation,
which is also really fun for me. And I've been
dabbling into that, uh like wheel of Fortune? What are
you thinking?

Speaker 3 (13:55):
Sure?

Speaker 5 (13:55):
I'm like, let's go. Yes, I would have been yes. Yes,
I don't know saying why I wasn't the but yes,
I mean, I love I love talking to people. I
love I mean, this is why I think you are
so legendaries because there isn't a There's something that takes.
There's a lot of talent to be able to just talk,
but like actually lead it, and that is an incredible gift.

(14:19):
Uh and so, and you connect to people, You're all
connecting to people. That to me is such a beautiful
thing and I love what that does, and especially now
more than ever, the connection of people is so needed
in a in a real way without you know what
I'm saying, lonely.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
People are lonely. Look at the energy. Hold on, let's
talk as if he's not here. Look at Michael's energy.
Can you feel it?

Speaker 3 (14:41):
I have the energy that that's radiating off this gun.
I mean you you have whatever you want to do
ahead of you. Well, thank you, but don't leave Aladdin.
We love Aladdin.

Speaker 5 (14:53):
The thing about Aladdin is They've allowed me to be
me and I've got I go away. I got to
do concerts, the symphony concerts, I've gone other Disney projects,
like we have a lot of Disney Disney synergy going,
which has been an incredible thing. They have allowed me
to be me and do my thing, and that has
also helped me stay in the show longer. You know,

(15:13):
I've been able to get to do my thing, and
I love the show so much.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
There you have it.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
You gotta love what you do, you gotta love how
you love it. May I read a few texts that
are coming through, and by the way, they're not always nice.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
That's hot. Here we go.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
We saw Aladdin last summer. It was amazing, the best
Genie by far. I can tell this guy is a
great guy. What a great They may don't ever seen
a Laddin, but all they know, they may don't even
know your name yet. They said, I know this guy
is a great guy. Oh that's even better when it
comes out. Okay, hold on, good morning. I love him
the best Genie, such good vibe, so funny and talented.

(15:50):
I saw a Laddin when it came out. The genie
was my favorite part when I saw. When I saw
Michael doing it even better, told me amazing.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
They love you.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
You're the type of person that, even if we don't
know you, you walk in a room and you bring
the energy and you light it up and you just
make it a happier place.

Speaker 5 (16:05):
Well that's very kind. It's either that or I make
it a place where you're like, what is actually going on?

Speaker 3 (16:11):
I love that?

Speaker 6 (16:12):
Yeah, Okay, You guys are artists. You have perfected this craft.
You guys are the top of the top, you're Broadway actors.
What is it like when Dan Yell and I, who
make fart jokes for a living hop on stage? What
do we need to do to be respectful and not
be hated?

Speaker 3 (16:32):
Don't tell me, fart Joe.

Speaker 5 (16:36):
The thing is, it's like we are we are so
excited to have you all with in our company and
in our building. And it's such a sacred like beautiful
space and welcoming space. So having your energy for us
is like we welcome that. We we like it's a
new energy. So that's exciting. It's and it's a live show,
so it's a complete Tonight show will be completely different

(16:58):
from tomorrow night's show where you starring the two of you.
I mean, that's a completely different show. It's a completely
different energy and the and it's also the cast. They
thrive off of that.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
Like if we mess up, the cast got our back.

Speaker 5 (17:11):
Oh yes, everybody, they'll like just move you around, you know,
you like, but they'll be they'll be, Yes, yes, they'll be,
They'll be with you. So I honestly, it's it's you all.
You all respect. I mean you're so you know what
I mean. You come in you it is Broadway, sure,
but you're bringing you and that's why we want you
in our company.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
That's awesome, are really nice and may we leave you
with this great text? Ready for this? Oh my god,
that chubby chocolate child has such great high energy. I
love him. Yes, I want that on the show. We
can make that happen. Yes, Michael James. God.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
You know, we have guests here all the time, and
a lot of guests are great. Most of our guests
are just fabulous. But every once in a while you
get a guest that rolls through that door and really
just kind of owns it, lights it up.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
And you've done that with us today. Thank you. What
a great gift you've given out the thanks today. Thank
you so much for having me. It's the honor to
be here, really is, and we can't wait to have
you on PROBIM
