Did you love it?
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Wow?
Speaker 4 (00:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (00:30):
I went to Sandals Dun's River and I didn't realize
what they've unfold what's unfolded there? Like they had this
nightly entertainment. One night was a magic show. The next
night it was the trapeze acts. I saw a fire.
They did a slight they did like a fire.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
You know the fire. They have fire there with fire
doing the houla.
Speaker 5 (00:52):
Hoop of fire and uh and they did it silently
disco one night and then and you know me that,
you know, I'm such a big foodie and I love
I love my restrons. They at this specific resort they
had a Greek spot, they had this the most amazing
fresh sushi, and and and a French restaurant which was
second to none.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
I was like, wow, I was bowled over. I could
not It was all inclusive, which really inclusive.
Speaker 5 (01:15):
Yeah, that's and and all these you know, you know,
I'm not a big water sports person, but all that.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Stuff they had. I can't believe. Just hearing you say
the words water sports is kind of funny. I'm not anything.
You're like, you like water, you're with water sports. So
they have anyway, go ahead.
Speaker 5 (01:36):
The Yeah, they give you unlimited uh land and water sports,
you know. And I went to Dun's River Falls and
I don't know if you guys can describe it better
than I can, but it's it's a huge waterfall that's
streaming water. I didn't know what I was getting into
it first, but Robin and I climbed the falls. We
went from the bottom and it took us about an hour.
You gotta wear water shoes and you get to.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
The top and we we made it.
Speaker 5 (01:58):
And and I'm not an affl person by any stretch
of the imagination, but I made it. I walked over
to the fall. I literally climbed up the fall from
the bottom and I didn't fall, and it was amazing.
That was and that was all part of the Sandals
experience that I got at Dun's River, So I highly
recommend it.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
What's the matter?
Speaker 2 (02:18):
Elvis is in disbelief?
Speaker 5 (02:22):
Unless we lost, Elvis, I think we lost. Usually when
I tell a story like that, he tells the whole
room be quiet, everybody.
Speaker 6 (02:34):
Just were you and Scotty at the same place I
was at.
Speaker 7 (02:41):
Beaches in the Grill. It's funny because when two teenagers
like are in awe of the beauty of a place,
they've done something right there. So it was just we
had so much fun. We're on the beach every day.
We did the water sports like Scary. You went to
falls like Scary did, and there was also it was
really cool because we got to be a part of
Sandals has a foundation called Sandals Foundation where they go
(03:04):
into the communities and the schools and they help out
and it's actually something you can do if you're a
guest there. It wasn't just us, So we were able
to go to a local school and distribute backpacks and
that was really cool. I was so happy that my
girls were able to be a part of that, and
uh so that was just a small part of our
trip and it's just it's just so beautiful. It was beautiful.
Waking up to that every morning was insane.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
And then you land back in New Jersey and you
love Okay, No, I'm kidding, I'm kidding.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
We love you. I was checking out, Scottie.
Speaker 5 (03:30):
I'm like, hmm, you know, if I ever did have kids,
I would go to beaches.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
I would do it.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Oh my god, is this what I hello? I can't believe.
I was disconnected and I come back and you're talking
about having kids. I don't know. Okay, sorry, yeah, I
was in I was in such disbelief about you climbing
those river falls. Like what I had to. I had to.
I had to take a moment. Yeah, anyway, where were we?
(03:58):
What did I miss? We thought you were doing your
silent routine for about five minutes and talk.
Speaker 5 (04:06):
Scott He was sharing, you know, about his BOOKA Well,
let's hear it for Jamaica and you guys have a
great time, all right?
Speaker 2 (04:13):
If you want to win your trip for your all
inclusive Caribbean getaway to Sandals or beaches resorts in Jamaica,
got Elvis, duran dot com, get the rules and enter today.
Now I think we can move over to Danielle. Danielle
believe it or not, found a SPI. You we've always
been talking about the need to go on Safari, right, Yeah,
so you said, well, we only have a limited amount
(04:35):
of time. We can't really make it to Africa. So
you drove down the Jersey Turnpike and you found something
that you really, truly, truly believe is going to be
an incredible destination for almost all of us at some point.
Speaker 6 (04:47):
So good.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
So it's in Jackson, New Jersey. Six Flags great adventure.
If you're from the area, you know they have the Safari, right,
so now they have something called Savannah Sunset Resort and
Spa and what it is, it's like a family glamping adventure.
You're basically staying on the Safari. It is so insane
and so incredible, and you're in what you think is
(05:10):
a tent obviously, and then when you get onto your
like veranda, at least the room we were staying in
it was the Safari was my backyard. I woke up
to giraffes every morning, I woke up to all different
animals every morning. It was the coolest thing. And then
you got to go on the safari. You got to
feed giraffes every morning. We fed the giraffes. They like,
by the way, they have very long tongues and they
(05:32):
love ice cream, cones and sweet potato. And I fell
in love with giraffes on this trip. I'm so obsessed
with them right now. They're so cool because they're curious,
they're friendly, they're cute. I mean, they're just I love them.
And then there's some VIP experiences you could get. So
we went and we pet rhinos, and then we went
(05:53):
and we had some giraffes stick their heads into the car,
which was hysterical, and they were licking the pollen off
the car because that's what they do if they're around
your car.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
But yeah, there you go, and you know they have
they have a three hundred and fifty acre wild safari,
so you just you're part of it. And then when
you're staying there, there's like little cars and stuff that
will take you to and from the water park or
the amusement park. So we got to ride all the
rollercoasters and we got to do all the rides one
day and just it is just such a great experience.
(06:24):
And everybody who works there obviously are experts on the animals,
and they take care of the animals and they make
sure the animals are safe. That's their number one priority.
And they're just all so cool and nice and you
eat and you drink and you sleep and I just
can't even it's amazing.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
It's amazing.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
Yeah, and how long have they have they been opened, so.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
They've only been opened since June. Yes, it's brand new.
The spa isn't one hundred percent open yet. That will
be opening and they're adding more rooms. But they're open
now for weekends I think through the beginning of December
and then obviously next summer they'll be open again all
you know season. So it's just it's really something you
should look into because it was such an incredible experience
(07:05):
and I can't believe how amazing these animals are. You know,
my family loved it and we just had a great experience,
a great family experience. Or you know, if you want
to go with your girlfriends, your guy friends, you have, whatever.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
I would love to go. Oh love now and now
has it made you stop and think I need to
take my family on safari. Now you need to do it,
you know. And we talk about our friend of Vienna
all the time, who is a guide down in Africa
and Tanzania, and we always reiterate, reiterate, you can go.
It's it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to
actually go on safari in Africa. Believe it or not.
(07:38):
It just sounds so foreign because you're like, well, who
can afford that? You can? Everyone can? And what a
great way to get an intro to that, like you
just did.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
I love that And I'm going to post more pictures
later on today. I haven't really you know, because we
were I was trying to just enjoy it. So now
we're back, so I will posting and you'll see.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Tell everyone where to go to find out more information.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
So it's Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa in Jackson, New Jersey,
six Flags Great Adventure. So if you google six Flags
Great Adventure you can read all about it.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
There you go. Excellent. Now, So watching the crazy Antics,
Gandhi and Diamond and Andrew and Josh, I'm surprised you
all four got back alive, as am I as maybe
if not, you know, eaten by a bear just killing
(08:26):
each other, even by a.
Speaker 8 (08:28):
Josh because you give Josh five seconds to himself and
he's choking somebody.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
Yeah, it was insane, but it looked like you guys
had the most magical time in the most incredible, incredible
part of our country. It looked beautiful.
Speaker 8 (08:41):
I think it was one of the most fun trips
that I've been on in a while. I had so
much fun with them. I am so proud of Diamond
and the things that she did. Your girl over there
who cannot swim, went whitewater rafting and she did a
great job. It was wonderful. I have never seen things
like that with my own eyes. I love to get
(09:02):
out and you know, explore Man Glacier National Park is insane.
I there were times I wanted to cry because it
was so pretty, and we just kept being like, wow,
oh my god, Yellowstone incredible, Grand Tetons incredible.
Speaker 6 (09:16):
We hiked. I don't know how many steps we got in.
We got in so many steps.
Speaker 8 (09:19):
I feel like it was such a good workout for us,
and we still partied and we saw the dumbest people
on the planet.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Fer Oh, really talk about that there.
Speaker 8 (09:30):
First of all, when you get to Yellowstone and you
go into the rooms that we were at, which, by
the way, shout out to Delaware North because they hooked
us up with all of this and.
Speaker 6 (09:37):
It was amazing.
Speaker 8 (09:38):
There's a video playing about all the ways you can
die in Yellowstone. So clearly bears buffalo. Everybody wants to
touch the buffalo. The buffalo don't want to be touched.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
You don't get near a buffalo.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
People do people pull people pull over to the side
of the road. I've seen them do it at Yellowstone
and they run after the buffalo, faking the buffalo wants
a hug. That buffalo does not want a hug.
Speaker 6 (10:02):
We learned so much about how fierce they are.
Speaker 8 (10:05):
By the way, they can clear a six foot fence
from a standing position a giant buffalo. And these idiots
are bringing their children and holding their kids in.
Speaker 6 (10:13):
Front of a buffalo in its face.
Speaker 8 (10:15):
Crazy people. Same with bears.
Speaker 6 (10:19):
We had two.
Speaker 8 (10:20):
Bear encounters, technically three. One of them was very safe.
It was from far away. Our guide found this bear
up in a hill. It was awesome. Diamond was all
about that one. The second one was an actual bear
encounter where we were hiking and there was like a
crowd sort of stuff like, what's happening, what's going on?
We hear a little rustling like Jurassic Park, and then
the scariest thing you could ever see a nature popped out,
(10:41):
which was a bear cub. It ran up a tree.
So Diamond panicked immediately and did everything wrong that you're
told not to do.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
She ran, You're not supposed to run in front of
the bear because they say dinner, they take your dinner.
Dinner runs from bear.
Speaker 8 (10:58):
She tried to run with our bear spray by the way,
and then she instead of just leaving us, she ran
off with strangers.
Speaker 6 (11:08):
We didn't even know who they were.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
We didn't know what turn scary turn on Diamonds, Diamond, Diamond,
I mean, you know you that was a little frustrating
for the rest of the group.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
Right. Well, first of all, I think we're over exaggerating.
I didn't run. It was more of like a brisk.
Speaker 6 (11:24):
Walk to them.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
That's to them, that's running.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
But I uh, I just asked the people around me
who has bear spray, and a woman raised her hand
and I said, I'm going with you, girl. I'm out
of here. I'm not staying around where there are bears,
and then people are just standing there taking pictures of
the bears and stuff like that. A cub, those are
some things you don't play with. Okay, you know what
(11:48):
I mean.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
You're playing with them. There's distance between you and the cub,
I'm sure, right, a little bit.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Very close, and people wanted to get even closer.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
I'm like, that's stupid. That's stupid, because where there's a cub,
there's a mother, and the mother will kill you.
Speaker 8 (12:02):
No, no, no, because here's the thing, and this is
what I was trying to explain this to them. I
was like, you guys, there are so many idiots standing
here that are trying to get up on these bears.
We just keep walking, keep her head down, keep walking,
go up and around the way they told us to.
Speaker 6 (12:14):
Someone else is gonna get it from one of these bears.
Speaker 8 (12:16):
It's not gonna be us, because there are dummies over here,
like we're fine, let's just keep moving. But we got
separated in the woods, and Diamond was with strangers. We
didn't talk about where we're gonna meet up. There's no service,
there was nothing. When I tell you, Andrew was panicked.
He's like, she's gonna be dead. She died, She's gonna
be dead. Diamond's at the bottom of the trail thinking
we died. So because the way back by the way,
(12:38):
so we saw those two bears on the way. We
never saw MoMA, which was even more terrifying. On the
way back, we saw the big one and that was
up in a hill and I said, we just keep
just keep going, just keep walking, of course.
Speaker 6 (12:50):
And I take my phone out and record as I
was walking.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
Yes, I did.
Speaker 8 (12:53):
But we got out of there, and when we got
to the bottom of the hill, we're like, Diamond is
not going to be in the woods, lily, So she's
out on the road somewhere.
Speaker 6 (13:02):
So we walk out to the road.
Speaker 8 (13:03):
We're walking maybe like thirty yards and I just see
somebody dancing under a road sign and I was like,
there she is, Oh my god, thank god there is.
Speaker 6 (13:10):
Everybody was so happy. We jumped on each other. It
was great.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
It was great.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
And that was just one of many situations.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
One hike.
Speaker 6 (13:20):
That was one hike.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
These people jeez, but yeah, but Glacier National Park, did
you did you guys see like you saw the river
trails and things like that. There's no way to describe it.
It's a trail, but it's river.
Speaker 8 (13:33):
There's no way we The first hike we did, I
think it was like six miles. It was up to
Avalanche Lake and you hike up this mountain, which is
by the way, riddled with bears, and you get to
a place that is only what I would describe as
like heaven. I mean, wow, it was so beautiful, this
lake in the middle of a mountain that.
Speaker 6 (13:53):
Was crystal clear, with three waterfalls.
Speaker 8 (13:55):
Coming down into it from the mountains. It was just
it was beautiful. He was so so so pretty. And
Andrew was like.
Speaker 6 (14:01):
Oh my god, I've never seen something like this in America.
I can't say it enough.
Speaker 8 (14:07):
Go out there, go out west, go to the national parks,
even the ones down east, whatever. The national parks are amazing.
America has it all. We have everywhere we do.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
We really do. And you know what, and I'm assuming
you guys are already starting to think about your next one.
Speaker 6 (14:19):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 8 (14:20):
We sent each other so many little plans. The Pacific
Northwest looks amazing. Olympic Park looks awesome. I would go
back to Glacier and just spend the entire time at
Glacier because there was a lot that we didn't even
get to do. I mean we were there for three days,
three four days, and we did horseback riding that was amazing.
My horse was the problem child of the group and
(14:42):
would wait until all the other horses went down a
hill and run.
Speaker 6 (14:46):
It would run down the hill. Nate, I know you
think you can ride a horse that's running.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
It's terrifying now, especially a horse going downhill or uphill.
Especially if you go uphill, the horse excel the rates
right because and it scares you if you're not used
to it. But a horse, you know, just like a person,
you can't just walk up here. You got to run it,
and a horse will do it. But going down here,
you're like, I'm gonna die.
Speaker 8 (15:10):
I was they put me in the back. They were like, yeah,
we put you in the back because you have the
problem horse. His name was half Nick. Apparently he only
pays attention when he feels like it, and he's a
bully and he's mean to the other horses, and he
left me in the back by myself.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
Well, you and your dehorse. Had a lot of comment there,
saying listened to Alley on line nineteen her she's been
attacked by bison a couple of times.
Speaker 6 (15:31):
Ali, Ali.
Speaker 4 (15:33):
Yeah, So I had my daughter and my husband in
the car with me, and it's one of those wildlife
refugees or refuge refuges, whatever you call it. Drive yeah,
where you drive through, and we stopped because the bison
were like right by the road, and you know it,
(15:56):
it stopped in front of our car and started like
growling at us and fronting, and so I'm like, oh
my god, because we couldn't drive anywhere because they were
like surrounding our car. And so I actually have a
video of it getting up on its hind legs and
it put its front legs on our car and was
like rocking our car.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
Oh wow, Now was it trying to mate with your car?
Speaker 4 (16:21):
I don't know. You know, I have a minivan and
it's kind of good, a good looking minivan.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
So maybe maybe, yeah, Dodge Caravan. I love humping on those.
Speaker 4 (16:32):
Well, and then you know, I was there a couple
of weeks later for a field trip with my class,
and the bison kind of did the same thing. They
surrounded the school bus, throwing their body weight, throwing their
bodyweight against it.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
Let me ask you, where exactly where were you during
these bison attacks what part of our country?
Speaker 4 (16:53):
I live in Altuna, Iowa, and this is like a
wildlife refuge about twenty miles from Altuna.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Now after the.
Speaker 4 (17:03):
Then Neil Smith wildlife refuge.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
Just wondering, now, after the bison makes love to your truck,
do you have to use the windshiel wipers with this?
Speaker 4 (17:14):
You know? Yeah? We have mud all over? Okay, well
we have mud all over I hope them.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
Okay, all right, there you go, Well listen, thank you,
and look, we got to keep in mind. And you
were reminded there, and of course Gandhi was reminded her
with her cast of characters, that where is their hood? Now?
They they call the shots. We're there as observers. And
as soon as you think you're in control and you
can just go up to them as you want and
(17:42):
take pictures with them and hug them, you're gonna die,
you really are. But I don't know why people can't
be happy enough just observing. Observing is where the fun is,
just watching them do their own thing, right, I would think, And.
Speaker 4 (17:55):
Well, why would they make it a drive through one though,
you know, a drive through refuge if they didn't want
people to be so close?
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Well yeah, there's that.
Speaker 8 (18:05):
Don't well, it's either driver walk, You're not gonna walk,
and now it's gonna get shut down.
Speaker 6 (18:09):
Yeah, people can't just stand in their car.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
All right. Well look, thank you so much. Ali, I'm
glad that you and your your minivan survived the bison attacks.
I've never said that to any listener ever told today anyway,
just what yes, go.
Speaker 8 (18:25):
So I'm basically a junior park ranger. Now I just
need everybody to know that got the book and everything.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
And.
Speaker 8 (18:32):
I was taught how to safely clear bison from the road.
There is a safe way to do.
Speaker 6 (18:35):
It, and they let you do it.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
How do you do it?
Speaker 8 (18:38):
So they have really bad site, but they have pretty
good hearing. You just stick your arm out of the
car and bang on the side of your car and
they flee.
Speaker 6 (18:45):
They did this, they run off.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
This happened when we were in the Savannah Sunset because
we needed to get out and there was a bunch
of bison sitting in front. So the guy came by,
the guy that was in charge of the whole thing,
the ranger, and.
Speaker 6 (18:59):
He did that. He banged on the side of the car.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
There you go, just it.
Speaker 6 (19:02):
They watch.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
That's what you do. Yeah, as far as Bison goes,
you bang on your car before they bang your car.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
It's fine.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
It's just one way of looking at it anyway. We
could go on and on for hours. I just want
to make sure if you haven't had an opportunity to
do it, I know it's all work. Danielle and Gandhi
and Scary and and Scotty be put as much up
on your social media as you can because people want
to see this stuff. I was watching you guys, but
the stories disappear, you know, and it looked like you
just had the best time. My favorite thing that you posted,
(19:34):
Gandhi was nothing but stars at night. Oh my god,
it was breathtaking. I know you didn't use any filters.
That was all all natural. People think it's it's not real.
It is as real as real can being. I loved
seeing that.
Speaker 8 (19:49):
It's incredible, and that was a moment where I realized
Josh and I are also not the brightest bulbs.
Speaker 6 (19:54):
We were very stupid to do that, but it was
totally worth it.
Speaker 8 (19:57):
And your iPhone, by the way, can take really amazing
pictures of the sky, so I can't even imagine how
great the androids are. Probably even better. But they were
I mean, those stars were out. I felt like they
just came out to show us a good time. It
was incredible.
