Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, let's let's go to former All Black Howker.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
He was All Black one thousand and thirty six and
Crusader number eighty, one hundred and fifty games for the Crusaders,
mister Corey Flynn and very important part of the Crusaders alumni.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Good morning. Can it be any better for rugby at
the moment?

Speaker 3 (00:19):
It's going to be a pretty cracker all we can
do it?

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Shall we talk about the Shield Challenge after the All
Black Test?

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Okay, I'm still undecided about that one.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Yeah, fair enough, you are torn.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
But let's talk about the All Black Test. That is
so much around this. In the end, both sets of
players have to go out and play the game.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
It's as simple as that, isn't it? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (00:39):
It is. I mean it's it's a hell of contests.
As All Blacks, you always enjoy playing against the best,
and you know they plan the world's best tonight, so
it's going to be it's going to be a great game.
You know, the backs against the wall, but it's still
a pretty pretty handy team to go out and try
and knock the box over.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
You've been in that environment, and none of us unless
you've been in that environment understand the competitiveness and the
pressure that comes from within rather than let alone the
stuff that's happening outside of it.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Can you imagine what the week's been like.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Yeah, it's always got a special feeling this type of week.
You know, when you when you know you're up against
the world's best, everything's got a little bit more, got
a little bit more determination and a little bit more
everybody wants to be at their best a game like this.
It is great. The box have been as a standard
for so long now and I just can't wait to
see it.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
But you do know that head coach Scott Robertson won't
take a step back. He loves these doesn't it. He
loves the confrontation.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Yeah, and the beauty about being and Eden Park the fortress,
I suppose the Fortress of Eden. The boys grow a
leg there. So it's not just Raiser taking a step back.
I do say there'll be you know, these twenty three
guys that have taken that sial that are gonna that
are gonna go fall noise into it.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
When you look at the Rugby Championship and the form
of both teams, does it count anything?

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Yes and no. I mean both teams have been experimenting
with players and they will continue to do so because
obviously the big prize is the World Cup in twenty seven.
But you know they want to win every Test match
as such. So you know what it's like when the
orbit Ex lose a Test match, the country goes into

(02:20):
a state of morning. There is pressure in that respect,
but it's one that the boys really enjoy.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
In a game like this has to be one up front.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
The boys will be well poised for that bomb squad
and and what what that's what that's starting a will bring.
But you know, yeah, it's just one of those one
of those games that you actually really want to play on.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
When you talk about Eden Park as thing is they
we are on home ground. That has to count for
something despite the pressure of the fifty two standbasion record.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
Yeah it doesn't, it doesn't. I mean the spring Boks
of yesteryear where they didn't travel, well, you know they're
gone now, so they've learned how to travel, They've learned
how to win on the road. Home advantage. I mean, yep,
we're going to have a We're going to have sixty
thousand people there screaming. It doesn't mean as much as
what it used to. So the boys are going to

(03:15):
have to be to be right there.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
We're thereabout going into the nitty gritty of stuff. What
do you want to see from the All Blacks?

Speaker 3 (03:22):
I just want to see them front up in terms
of physically, we know that the spring Box bring a
certain game. They'll bring that aerial game. They're just going
to have to get behind the ball, get and support
the back three, and then yeah, physically front up. If
they can do that, the skill level of our players

(03:43):
I believe will outshine the skill of the Box. But
they're like a bully. They don't enjoy being smacked in
the nose.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
And there's been a bit of chat around that maybe
the spring Box are a little bit too old.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
You know, coming from an old man myself, I would
I wouldn't read into that, you know, like there's nothing
better than sitting there with a nice cold beer after
the end of the game saying how's that rolled?

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Particular parts of the game.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
We've got a kick well at goal, we can't afford
to bleed points there, and we've got the right team.
There's nobody better that should be in that team, that
especially that's starting fifteen right.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Yeah, I agree. We've got a hell of a team
that's going out on that field. It's just whether we
can put it together. Obviously, the you know, the loss,
they'll still be smart from the loss against the rg's,
but you know it could serve as a nice we
wake up call as well.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
Do you think we're bad fans in this country?

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Yeah, I think we've got a I think we've got
a certain vile about us as supporters. We love to
get down on our boys, sometimes to the detriment, but
you know, it just shows how we are passionate. We
are very parochial and we don't we don't take losing lightly.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
So how do you think it will go? Do you
want to predict or not?

Speaker 3 (05:01):
My head says that we could lose it Eden Park
for the first time in a long long time, But
my heart still still says it, we'll get up and
smack the bully in the nose.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Now to the Ramsay Shield. Who would have thought that
Canibury would have had a chance. Who would have thought
prior to that game last week that the Southland Stags
would have beaten an all black laden white cut off side.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
I reckon there was about seventy or thousand people in Macava.
It would have had you know, one hundred odd thousand
of the surrounding area, So it was yeah, I mean
it was a great game to watch and I'm a
little bit torn. I'd love to see the Stags hold
onto it from being from down there, but you know
it's it's a pretty big hurd or to jump coming

(05:45):
up against this Canterbury team as well.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
How many Shield challenges did your All games did you play?

Speaker 2 (05:50):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (05:51):
I can't remember now, it was that long ago. I
know I gave it away twice or at least once.
I actually won it twice and and gave it away
once done, frank.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
And that's a hard thing to do. And the hardest
match when you've won the Shield is the.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Next one, right it is. You know, it's in a
season that goes on for a fair while. It gives
you a piece of something instant to play for, so
it's like a little bit of a test match within
a within a season. So it is great. The log
of Word is a special piece of New Zealand rugby

(06:25):
history and the players that get to play for it truly.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
Care at it, no doubt about that really crucial part
of New Zealand rugby history and there will be another
chapter written after the match this afternoon, so we can't
wait for that. Corey Flynn, will you be sitting easily
in the back of your chair.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Watching the All Blacks or will you be on the
ugu seat? Oh?

Speaker 3 (06:47):
I don't you know. I don't really watch very well,
but I'll be sitting on the edge of the seat
and like most people with a pretty big smile on
the face as a as a rugby supporter.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
Well, thank you very much of going your time to
us on the waves this morning at Corey fland heavy
Father's Day.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
Thanks mate, Yeah, but it's always a good time when
the kids have to do all their chores and get
your presents on that.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Oh, it's important.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
You should tell them my kids there.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
Well I'm telling them now it's really important. I hope
they've got you a really nice gift.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
If I get breakfast and everything made it for me,
that'll be it'll be a good thing.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
Well, you deserve it and more. Thanks so much.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
