Speaker 2 (00:18):
How are you very good? Are you out there yet?
Speaker 1 (00:20):
Yeah? Yeah, well I've just I've just arrived from Pegasus
to ringuor here, so nice short drive you a little
bit cold, a little bit cold for our sadday morning,
but the winds. Yeah, hopefully that this one's pushed away
this rain, so I'm assuming it'll be full full game,
I reckon. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
So is it still raining out at Aurora because it's
not in town. It's we've got dry roads.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
No, not currently not raining, so that's a positive sign. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Oh that is really good festival. It's good that you're
back in the Red and Black. And there's quite a
few milestones in the Canterbury team. Laura Hughes, Captain Laura
Hughes will bring up here one hundred and fiftieth game
in the Candle Colors. It's a debut for Libby's stead
the right hand back right off break Bowler, and a
debut for Emma Irwin as well, depending who makes the eleven.
(01:09):
But you're back, how cools that?
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Yeah, I'm very excited, so so glad to be back,
so happy to be back and actually enjoying enjoying my
cricket again. I think you go, you go through differently
lapses over your careers and I'm just really raring to go,
happy to be back. And yeah the Red and Black
Canterbury has been awesome and I've just got me straight
(01:33):
back and here I am at when you're around one.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Yeah, fantasty. And you've had a good club season for
all boys collegians.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Yeah, yeah, And I have jumped back into into club
cricket as well and have loved my time with old Boys,
just a very warm and welcoming club. And also for
my little Wei one as well, we've a fair she's
in the little Junior program, so a really nice family
orientated club and also also a good group of prem
girls as well. So yeah, and I we've had a
(02:00):
great start at the old at the club scene.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Yeah. Hey, just going back to the Canterbury scenario. So
obviously we don't know the team yet they're playing eleven.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
Yeah, no, we do, but we obviously, yeah, keep that
sort of and how the tops, yeah, we we'll just determine,
see what a few things at the toss and then yeah,
like you mentioned early before, you've got Emma Irwin and
Libby Stead are we youngsters coming up through the ranks,
which is so exciting for them, so hopefully they get
their opportunity. But yeah, tom soons how yeah exactly.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
And on the other end of the scale, Frankie McKay
requires three runs to become the leading list a run
scorer for kind of be men or woman. I mean
that's pretty phenomenal. I thought she was injured not.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Yeah now, Frankie. No, Frankie's yea rearing to go. Actually
massive and massive milestone like you're saying, and men's or
woman's woman's cricket. I mean, we don't really need to explain,
you know how big she is for our game. And
she's phenomenal such so good to have in the change.
Your competitor. Loves to share her knowledge and is very
(03:05):
welcome to anyone asking or anything, which is I think
so important in the team environment.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
A very good commentator as well. Let's not forget that
for you though clearly you've had a good setup, you're
feeling comfortable in the environment, and all we wanted to
do was to touch base. And just first of all
say we're happy that you're back in there and that
you're comfortable with your game and wish you all the
very best for what could be a really big season,
you know, on the back of that World Cup Tea
(03:31):
twenty victory for our White Ferns.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Yeah, that was phenomenal that those group of girls. I mean,
it's resilience that it's best I reckon. I guess everyone's
sort of I guess, let's be honest, probably didn't see
that result coming. But they've stuck at it. They took
game by game and I mean look where they got to.
So can it thank me? A few things we could
probably all take in their game by game and who knows,
(03:54):
we needed to get to the end of HBJ or
sub smash season. So yeah, no, happy to be back,
and yeah, and amongst at all.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Fantastic because I note that Lea to who who's named
as part of the thirteen of that Candarbury squad as well.
I dare say the Otago Sparks will have Susie Bates,
will they.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Yeah, don't think sous is on the list. And if
she's here, great fantastic, that's awesome for the game. But
they'll have Yeah, they'll have we Eiden in the Max
there as well. So yeah, those few ore the I
guess and Leah as well. Excited to get back and
shaty stories. You know what they've been through over the
last few months. I mean we all have to hear
it and get them involved in it. So yeah, that's
(04:34):
really good to see them back on playing HPJ.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Yeah, good stuff. Well, I know that you've got team
duties to perform. Now we'd better let you go on.
Thank you for coming to the phone on game day.
We really appreciate it. Oh really well, and I hope
that that whether improves so much that you can start
on time. Ten thirty meant too, isn't it.
Speaker 1 (04:50):

goes away.
