Speaker 1 (00:00):
Do you worry us fan, Mike, Yes, I surely am

(00:03):
Leslie without a doubt. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
I think a few people when they win to come
out of the woodwork. But you're a perennial fan.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Ah. Yes. In my youth I played quite a bit
of rugby league, so I follow it closely.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Yeah, fantastic. Of course we've got Mike Dobnet on the
line in association with the Holmward Trading Company and all
things golf, so you'll be in a good mood.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Then, a pretty good mood. And I've been following most
of our professional golfers around the world actually, and in
any week. They are very busy and they've also had
quite a successful start to the year, most of them.
Ryan Fox currently is in a bit of free for
though unfortunately he' dropped three shots today, But this year

(00:46):
he's bent four hundred and fifty thousand New Zealand dollars
and that's from four events, so it's not a bad
way to earn a living. Steve Elka, who hasn't started
as first round in the Whole Classic at Newport Beach
yet that he also has banked just over a million dollars.

(01:06):
Blidia takes a break this week, but she's second on
the LPGA money list, so that's a healthy four hundred
and fifty one thousand US dollars and slightly close to
the home. Mamoka Kaboy who was twenty six yesterday and
Emilia Gavia both in Australia. The Ladies' European Tour has

(01:27):
a swing through Australia. This is the third event and
final one before they head to South Africa. That both
of those young ladies are doing particularly well and Momoka
currently is on just made the cut and Amelia's tied
forty first, not forgetting Kazuma and Daniel Hillier they both

(01:49):
tied thirty six in Singapore. The DP World Tour has
an Asian swing this year, quite staggering, but Daniel Hillier
has banked over a million, Kazum has banked about one
hundred thousand, and while all that was going on, Ben
Campbell quietly has won two point four million YEARS dollars

(02:13):
on the Live Tour, So how about that that's not
bad pay base.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
No, we've got to be good at course, you've got
to be good at what you do.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
You've got to be good and it all starts, you know,
on heading down to your local golf club at whatever age.
But it all starts the everyone starts at the same place.
And thankfully Canterbury Golf have played their part in the
success of a few of those people have just mentioned,
and Canobary got the numbers in Canterbary Golf staggering. They're really,

(02:41):
really good. And some clubs in Canterbury at the moment
are reporting that they've closed their membership they can't take
any more. Wow, I like who well Avandale for one,
and Templeton I heard the other day. We're in a
similar situation. So that is a happy place to be.

(03:02):
It is albeit that like all sports clubs, every golf
club faces you know, inflation, rising costs and all those
regulatory things that seem to come out of the woodwork
a lot nowadays. But all in all, all the Canterbary
clubs in a healthy state, the good volunteer base. It's
happy days for golf and category And as a credit

(03:24):
to all those people at Canneby Golf that are supporting
the clubs, I have to.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Say, yeah, well organized, good structures. You know, we're lucky
enough to talk to them every week. Thankfully for all
the good work that you do. And it really just
you can hear the passion and the vibrancy that they're
telling us about at their clubs.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Absolutely, and the growth at the bottom end, if you like,
or the young end, i'll say, of the age brackets
is very very strong. So a lot of young people
are taking up the game. And a lot of reports
from clubs where a lot you know, like younger men
and younger woman who don't join golf clubs but are

(04:03):
quite happy to turn up you know, once or twice
a month and pay you full green fees golf cart
and spend some money at the club. They just don't
want to be tied to a club, but they are
playing golf in big numbers.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Absolutely, it's the way to go, I believe, Mike God
know you're a gym.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Thank you very much, Worries lovely, just talk in.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
And have a great weekend. As I said, you know,
the Warriors have set the weekend to light him, an't they?
And so and they all whites to be fair, yes, yes,
So we're just waiting now for the Crusaders Blues match,
so yep.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
And I'll be pretty keen to watch that as well.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Yeah, good man, Thank you very much, love your work.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
