Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, rec it's Leslie Murdoch here. Congratulations, how are you?

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Oh, thank you very much?

Speaker 1 (00:05):
Well, what a game? When did you get noticed that
you were going to be playing in this match?

Speaker 2 (00:11):
I got told that I was probably going to be
playing when I got told I was going to be
dropped the game before.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
Right, okay? And then captaining what a magnificent victory, even
though in the end of that teenth wicket took a
bit to get. But when you look at the scores
and let's go back to the beginning, first of all,
winning the toss and putting in the CD, was that
a significant factor?

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Yeah, yeah, definitely, that toss was a big roan. Navon
was was pretty pretty happy when we won the toss,
and then when we started bowling, it was like, oh,
maybe he wasn't the best toss to win, but it
ended up being the right decision and yeah, worked out well.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
It absolutely did. And for Cameron Paul tell us a
little bit about his bowling stint.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Yeah, he was great. It wasn't flustered do anything. It's
great to see on debut someone who just sort of
six to the game rather than trying to change some things,
which can be easy to do. When you come up
and play best class cricket. So it was good to
send the sticks to his guns. And he generally goes
away from the bat, hits for dick pretty hard and
has a pretty slip bumper, so yeah, he just sort

(01:13):
of bashes around a good area and then eventually just
he's a w could take a ball, so always manages
to get a few.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
And then you replying Canterbury and your innings opening the
batting two hundred and forty, I mean, my goodness, may
that time at the crease tell us a little bit
about that.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Yeah, No, it was definitely a long inning, probably the
longest I've bet it before. But it was cool to
have partnerships with different people out there, especially Matt Boyle.
That was a really important partnership that we had, and
he sort of kept me going as well. So just
sort of leaning on those guys while I was out there,

(01:53):
and then yeah, just trying to bat for as long
as possible. Really, yeah, but.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Two hundred and forty or three hundred and thirty balls
saying that's a heck of a lot.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
It was a good test and it was good to
just good to know that I can do that sort
of an English if required.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Any particular shot that is memorable for you in that two.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Forty probably probably the six to go to ninety nine. Yeah,
I was sort of a little bit nervous around that.
It was taking me a while during those nineties, and
I just sort of decided to have a go one
and it was nice to get that away and then
just take one over to get to one hundred.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Wow. Just amazing really, And you talked about Matt Boyle
getting his one hundred and sixteen, then Cameron Paul got
a valuable thirty five.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Yes, yeah, he had it really well, especially had an
important time in a game back end of day two,
so that was really important. And then and there sort
of set us up for sort of good bowling stint in.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
The end, you know, in the four hundred and ninety
two for seven Bold CD out for three hundred and three.
And let's not take anything away from AJS. Patel, who
tried desperately to keep it going as long a long
as he could. At least he made you beat again.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Yeah, definitely, he mad it superbly, sort of had me
pull my hair out at some point, so yeah, no,
he was really good to watch, but it was nice
that we could eventually get.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Him out and well I wrote four for thirty eight
pretty good.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Yeah, I mean, a guy like that and your team
is just a blessing early. Yeah, it's just so awesome
to be able to check a guy like that at
the ball and sort of just ask him to do
this thing and and he's just, yeah, just super talented.
So great to be on his team.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
You've gone the full, nearly the full four days. How's
the body holding up?

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yeah, A little bit of stuff, but not not too bad,
to be honest. I've been out there a while, but
not doing two too much, not like those big bowlers
who are running in and in the deck cards. So
a little bit stuff but but nothing worrying.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Well, what a magnificent victory. Ten work at victory for Canterbury,
debut as a captain, your ninth match, I think at
first class level, but we're two from here.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
For you, I think it's just about sort of trying
to keep putting a match winning performances on the table
for Kennery. The teams is such a good environment and
so I think if I can just keep contributing to wins,
that's just what I'm sort of aiming to do and
let other things sort of take take care of themselves.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Just a phenomenal result, and I think a lot of
people were thinking when they saw all the changes, my
goodness made what's going to happen here? But here you've
turned it all around, a teen market victory over central
districts and got Canniby back in the planket shield. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Yeah, that's a great feeling to one, especially with this team.
It's such a young, young environment at the moment. No,
I'm sure the boys will be very happy.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
Well, I'm sure they are. Well, congratulations once again. I
know that you've probably got a little bit of celebrating
to do. Fear enough as well, and we'll see you
around the traps.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Sounds good. Thank you very much, Leisiblie. For more from
