Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, let's talk club cricket because it is a important

(00:03):
weekend for Premier women's cricket with a big final taking place.
So let's bring in Matt Wilson, the head of competitions
at Cricket Wellington. Who's with us now? Morning to you.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Matt, morning, how are we going? Good?

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Thanks Sandia? All eyes on Linden Park for the big
final and the Premier Women's competition map between the two
rivals North City and Patony River Sides. But yeah, just
bring us up to speed with how we've got to
this conclusion this week.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Yeah, for sure, it's the big game today and yeah,
congratulations to both both North and to Tony for making
it to the final that once again both had had
really good seasons and they deserve to be there. So
it's going to be going to be exciting game there
at London today. But yeah, last week Patni did manage
to get the job done over Johnsonville. That was a

(00:48):
big game. The winner of that was going to be
playing All City in that final and Patoni ended up
getting home by four wickets. Johnsonville had made two hundred
and one in thirty seven and Patoni chase that down
in just under thirty seven, so a fairly tight game,
but I think the Patoni experience of having a run

(01:09):
into a finals help them get over the line. In
that one City Suburbs they are up against Collegians. Collegian's
got the job done in that one at Anderson Park
by two wickets to finish their season strongly. In North City,
they won't be too happy with this preparation, but they
went down to Upper Heart Upper Heart getting a mass
of one hundred and sixty four run one, so North

(01:29):
won't be too happy about that one going into the final.
But I do know they we're missing a couple of
key individuals which they should have available for today's big
dance at London Park. So yeah, it's going to be
a great game between the two teams. You probably say
North City are the favorites. They had a fantastic season.
They won the T twenty comp as we know earlier
earlier in the year against Patoni here at at the

(01:51):
Cello base in Reserve and they're there on home turf
today with all their support around. So it's going to
be a tough tough game for Patoni. But both looking
at the lineup pretty evenly matched, so looking forward to
that one today and the other teams they won't play
today any playoff games, so it's just the focus is

(02:12):
on London Park.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Yeah, great exciting stuff and we'll be joined a little
bit later in the show by Rachel Bryant's very successful
age group cricketer and obviously a Fringe Blaze player as well,
part of the North team heading into that finals. Looking
forward to chatting to her. But later Matt I guess Fordnie,
what a couple of weeks left in the men's Premier
competition as well.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Yeah, that's right, we're approaching that Peers Cup final and
we have just one round to play. Round five starts
today for the men's Division one and Division two in
Division one. Last week pes Cup cricket. For round four,
we start with the Cookshield Challenge up at Bartnoble and
Upper had locked away that shield for the winter and
for another year. They managed to It was a draw

(02:54):
against Corori, but they got so very close to an
outright having Karrory nine wickets down very very late on
day two, but couldn't quite get the job done. So
a drawer in that one and Upper Heart will be yeah,
a little bit out of they couldn't get over the
line there, but some a good performance and they's it's
kept hold of that shield which they'll be wrapped about.
The big story was at Hut Wreck Hut District against

(03:17):
Eastern Suburbs. Hut got a huge outright on the weekend.
They had batted first on day one and made three
hundred and fifty four. They didn't bowled East out for
one hundred and sixty one on day one and got
the job done two overs after the lunch break on
day two, bowling East out again for one hundred and seven.
Massive outright twenty eight points to Hut District which has

(03:38):
put them right in the frame for Pest Cup final qualification.
They now sit in second, just two points above Tighter
and third. Onslow of course still the front runners and first,
so that was a big, big result for them and
it's Fraser Park. It was the battle of Tighter and
Onslow and that one finished in a drawer Tighter though
getting very very close to an outright. They had Onslow

(04:00):
wickets down late on day two but just couldn't quite
get over the line to that one, ending in a draw,
which has made things very interesting going into today's Round five.
Three teams at the moment, you would say in the
running and tight Onslow Hut District and Tighter East. Today
they're hosting Tighter at Kilbernie Park, so that'll be worth
keeping an eye on Onslow there at home to Upper

(04:21):
Hut and Karori there at home in hosting Hut district.
So some massive games there as we close in on
that big final three day final in a couple of
weeks time.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Yeah, looking forward to that one. That will be great
Sand What about a division down Matt.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Yeah. So in the Haslet Trophy, some more outrights last
week the big one was Patoni against Vick Uni. They
got the outright against Vic Tony did they've had the
first on day one three hundred and thirty five for
eight to clear. They've then volved Vic out for one
hundred and twenty six and then one hundred and forty nine.
So for Tony almost certainly to be Crown's overall Haslet

(04:57):
winners in the two day competition. They'll be playing Johnsonville
today and that's going to be interesting, a battle of
the top two in terms of that two day format.
Last week Johnsonville they got an outright against nine II
in North City and Winery was a draw in that
fixture at Lindon Park, so on to today. It really
is now just a conversation of who wins the two

(05:17):
day competition between pe Tony and Johnsonville. Both those teams
are taking on each other as it so happens in
round five at alex Moore. Why are we there back
at home hosting VIC and nine I they're hosting North
City over the next two weekends out at nine Eye
Park to finish the season. So some big games in
the hazard again, but it really is about that Jay

(05:37):
Bill Pa Tony match at alex Moore and where things
finished there. So an exciting weekend of cricket as we
as we close in on the end of the season.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Indeed, all right, we'll keep an eye on those particular
games that will mean a fair bet. All right. Thanks
Matt as always, and good luck to everyone on the
cricket fields as the season starts to wind down. So
appreciate your time, Matt, and we'll chet again next Saturday.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Absolutely. Thanks Adam more from News Talk set B listen
