Speaker 1 (00:00):
From the K Pop Demon Hunters. Most to watch movie
in history on Netflix Ambi Corch Growth Crazy. Yeah, although
your daughter's were sixteen, so yeah, not really into it.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Haven't had to say that.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Yes, all right, it means you'll probably be spared the sequel,
which has been confirmed as well, but that's not due
out until twenty twenty nine, so we've got three maybe
four years to brace ourselves for the next wave of earworms. Yeah,
how are you anyway? I'm good? Thank you excellent. So
you're in from the Cancer Society and many exciting happenings
that wanted to touch on. The first Relay for Life. Mid

(00:34):
Canterbury's Relay for Life is back.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Well yes, it's been a long time coming.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
So our last one in person was twenty eighteen and
then COVID god in the way, so supposed to be
twenty one, they pushed it back to twenty two and
it ended up being a virtual relay which was quite cool.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
But we are back in the flesh.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
It is going to be the twenty first over at
the showgrounds twenty first to March and twelve hour events
so ten to ten.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
No need to bring your jarmies right on.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
You've got a very ambitious goal that you've set yourself
of one hundred and seventy five thousand dollars. Yep, where'd
you draw that from?

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Because we know this community is amazing. This community is
absolutely fantastic. It gets behind us and we know that
we can and bring that money in.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Are you taking registrations at this early stage?

Speaker 3 (01:24):
They sure are yep, And there is an early bird
special on so pop onto the website there and you'll
be able to see that.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Pretty simple, isn't it Mid Canterbury dot Relay for Life
dot org dot z. Just a wonderful way to support
those who are fighting against cancer, to remember those who
have been on a journey and the supporters as well
and what they go through.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
That's right, remember celebrate and fight back. There's the key
taglines there like that on with that.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
So that's something we're preparing for, something which is on
the go as we speak. A raffle for the chance
to win. This is so cool. I've seen it rolling
around town. Yellow nineteen seventy five Morris Minor mini meme.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
She's pretty cute.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Yeah, A fun backstory here because it's not the first
time that this mini has been up for grabs as well.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Ah No, No, it's a bit of a local history
with this wee Mini and some sibling rivalries going on.
So Bob Kroy, he's a local boy, was a local boy.
His brother is Trevor Croy, so very well known Mcenttbriant.
But Bob back in twenty fourteen and his mates and
Nelson got this mini. It was a scrap of a

(02:36):
mini and they got it all back to the bare
bones and refurbished it right to a very schmick looking
at can't study yellow mini.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Even her number plate is deaf.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
Still yeah, but yeah, So they did that in twenty
fourteen for the Relay for Life in Nelson.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
So they'ren it was raffle. Somebody won it and they've
been enjoying it for the past decade or so. A
band of locals, well yes.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
So it was for sale at Bowaters and Nelson and
they got in touch with Bob Kroy to say, hey,
the raffles are sorry. The Mini is up for sale again.
And Bob said to Trivor, hay, do you want to
get the money? So a bunch of locals put up
the money and they bought it and we brought it
down here thanks to PTS Transport got it down here

(03:26):
and it's up for raffle again.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Oh that is so generous. Filled that twenty five thousand
dollars and we could win it for just twenty bucks.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
It's absolutely correct.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Yes, those tickets are being sold from you direct at
the Cancer Society on Komode Street. Lago Welsh Finegan properly
brokers run us through some of the features of sy.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
It is so cute. She's got heated seats.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
What I know, just in case you get cold on
those days we're doing your mini runs.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
She four hohole years and manual. So remembering how to
work many manual it's going to be fun.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
The big question Auto will stick shift? All right? That's
that's rustic. Don't let the heat of seats fall you
into thinking that it's all mod cons No, the windows
manual too.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Yes, that point out the window a cold day clutch choke.
You've got to remember how to use that.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
No way. Yeah, this is taking me back. Does it
have if in radio? No?

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Radio unfortunately, so that there's something you have to put
in or you could do some singing on the way.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Well, sometimes you know, just you and your thoughts as
it's quite therapeutic, to be fair. Yeah, does it have
like a wee horn?

Speaker 3 (04:44):
It does, a very cute little horn, and it's on
the side of the stick shift, so it's not in
the middle. You can't go in the middle on the side,
so it's a friendly horn that could.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Be given a workout. Is it next Monday that we've
got too for taka in a week's time? That'd be cool.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Yeah, she's got a very busy social calendar. She's off
to Geraldine to the Arts and Plants Festival. Oh sorry,
the Geraldine Festival is called now, isn't it. Yeah, this weekend,
and then she's going to the Cell and Motifest. She'll
be at the Canterbury Kansas Center in a couple of
weeks time as well, So she's still traveling around the
streets here, so keep an eye out for her.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
It looks mighty fine in your driveway. So when do
we need to get those tickets by?

Speaker 3 (05:29):
It closes on the sixteenth of December. If the tickets
are not all sold out, but the tickets are selling quickly, I.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
Bet they are for twenty bucks. Any chance to win that?
And then there's a few other great prizes too. There's
a five thousand dollars house to travel package.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Yes we're very lucky thanks to the team over there.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
If an adventure pack in there as well, so go
and get your tickets before you miss out. Would look
fabulous in your driveway. That nineteen seventy five, Morris Minor
and supported the Cancer Society. Cheers were dropped by Ami

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
