Speaker 1 (00:01):
Thank you so much for all the votes for Mid
Canterbury's Best Trading on the Hawknowy Ashburton facebook page. I've
been running this search thanks to eat A Networks around
to two hundred and I think this is a first
for our best of campaign. Over forty individual nominations for
different AsSalt traders and companies that are helping to build

(00:23):
and fix and craft the face of this wonderful region
we call home. So have put all that through our
accountants and stoke to announce that our winner is voted
by YO Southern Traverse Homes who. And I will admit

(00:45):
that we did do the number crunching yesterday so close
it off about midday and found out yesterday and then
I also found out that Jason and Sheldon and the
team busy with a new build out in Methin, so
alongside Jess from EA and teammates Sarah, took a road
trip out there to catch them and present them with

(01:07):
the certificates.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
That's awesome, Thank you very much, much appreciated everybody that's
voted for us.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
How long you bloke's been building houses for.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
I've been doing it around about twenty years. What do
you share? It must be about thirteen now to have
a thirteen now.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
So getting the hang of things.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Yeah, getting the hang of things. And we've been working
together for about ten years now.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Where's the name Southern Traverse come from?

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Doing the hard yard?

Speaker 2 (01:31):
As she come from the race that went from the
north of the South Island to the south of South
Islands down through the mountains.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Is it a fun past time driving around the District's going?

Speaker 3 (01:42):
I built that? Yeah, that's always good. It's always good.
But the wife gets sick of.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
It every time I go out to Mayfield with the
old boy's window farthing. So it's window building. What do
you love about it?

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Being outside, working outside, great team constructing something and you
can stay back at the end of the day and wow,
look at that and somebody's going to get the benefit
of living their life. Yeah that's the same really, Like
it's this nice being able to use your hands and
create something for a family to move into and live in.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Whenever I attempt to use my hands and create something,
it just cause a stress and a world of trouble.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Yeah, there's definitely a lot of treats in mold, but
you get used to that.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
Yeah, yeah, right, I've got some fast fire questions. I
thought I could throw your way as a bit of fun.
So Jason will stet up yourself to Walt or maqita
makita Sheldon. Do you rather work in the heat or
the freezing cold?

Speaker 3 (02:35):
Neither and between's better.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
But so we get about two weeks of that in
mckendrey a year.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
Yeah, probably the heat more than the color.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Jason, Which other trade is most likely to hold up
the build?

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Plumber, sparky, rufer, scaffolder, drainlier?

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Is the truth to the fact that builders don't run
the most wholesome diet. What's in your lunch box? Sheldon?

Speaker 3 (02:58):
I run a reasonable diark. I've had some fruit today.
I got a chicken and rice for lunch, and yes,
and music.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
I was just all pies and these.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
No, not not nowadays. I don't think that's old. That's
old fashions.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
There's old Sheldon.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Yeah, young Sheldon yet or.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Is that you Jason?

Speaker 3 (03:16):
That's definitely not me.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
What's the one thing you always make sure you take on.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Side radio five, like in the morning, the afternoon.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Keep it coming, keep it hey, well, congratulations again. Obviously
you're doing a pretty stand up job, and people really
appreciate it, so congratulations

Speaker 2 (03:32):

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
