Speaker 1 (00:00):
Me and Liz McMillan, Morning to you morning. Did you
get any sweep last night? Did it feel like the
roof was peeling.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Off, gearing off? But yeah, I found a wee bit
windy last night up in Methvin.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Nice warm though lovely tropics. Yeah, So in for some
council chat and I thought we'd polish off the heavy
stuff early. First. There was a bit of chat that
I spotted on the community Facebook page while I was
enjoying an extra long weekend. I think this was on
Sunday night. The water pressure was down in parts of Ellington.
What was going on there?

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Yeah, so we're just in the final stages of upgrading
our water treatment plants and Expudence. So we've got four plants, Domain, Argyll,
park Bridge Street and tim Wold and the Domain plant
is currently offline because we're that's the final one to
be upgraded. So there was a bit of low pressure

(00:50):
through Allington I think on Sunday night. It was fixed
within an hour, but probably just a reminder if you
know a few if there's something going on with your
water pressure or something unusual, you can ring the council
number and it's twenty four to seven. So we heaven
after our service so you can through hair.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Ald was thinking it was all the sprinklers going as
things are getting dryer there, right because of that wind
that we mentioned. That's right, Yeah, yeah, And I use
these sprinklers at off peak times where you can their team. Hey,
something else which has been top of mind. I've been
catching up on the news here as if poor teachers
don't have enough to stress about through two and four.
And then there's giving parents a bit of a scare

(01:35):
too that colored sands, some types of colored sand from
Kmart they reckon, could be linked with asbestos. So a
lot of schools and early child care centers are affected,
and no doubt a lot of parents going to check
if it's some stuff that we might have around the house.
If we do have some of the sand. The particular
batches in question, Council are helping us dispose of it.

(01:58):
We don't want it going in the red bins.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
No, don't want to going in the red buns. And
I think MB have said don't vacuum it as well,
so don't the particles. Yeah, So we've got a special
area in the Eshpur and Resource Recovery Park where you
can drop it off. Have a look on our council
website or the mb website for details of how to

(02:20):
kind of package it up, so you know, put some
gloves on, put it in a plus it bag, put
it in another plus it bag, rite contaminate it all
over it and then drop it off. But we don't
want it in the red buns.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
So that's from this Thursday. We don't usually accepts bestos
like material, but we're making an exception for the sake
of helping parents out. Wonderful, So all that details up
on the council website. It is yeah, yeah, nice. You
can go and check that one out. Our new Many
golf Course, Many, Mid Canterbury. It opens this weekend.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
It does on Saturday.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Wow, so break neck speed that the crew have been
doing all those earthworks and then it's been made by
an outfit in Amuru. Is it the actual holes themselves
they look cool of how do we sneaky peek over
the fence, but just unique local characteristics here.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Yeah, it's it's actually really really cool. So when we
saw the designs and sort of looked at at what
we could have sort of Mid Canterbury icons, I guess
on the different holes, you know, what you see on
paper and what we've got down at EA Networks is
just incredible fun.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Have you picked a favorite yet?

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Not yet, No, because they hadn't all been completed. I
was down there last week with the Long Beach school
kids doing some planting on there, so yeah, they weren't
all totally finished. But yeah, there's a couple of really
really cool Well actually they're all cool.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
So all the formalities and the ribbon cutting is on Friday,
but's Sat. Today is our opportunity to have our first hack.
What's the housekeeping around this?

Speaker 2 (03:58):
We need to book, yes, you so booking through AA
Network Center and then I think you just book your times.
It's if you've got your own clubs, it's free. You know,
you don't have to pay anything. But if you want
to hire some putters, I think they're five dollars each

(04:22):
network so similar to them to the disc golf where
you go in and you can hire a few. Don't
have the equipment and you don't have a school card,
so you don't have a paper scorecard. It's all done
through a QR code as well. So yeah, a little
bit different, a little bit exciting. I think it's going
to be amazing.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
What a rate about this the you know, my other
play of golf, which is usually at timuld the risk
of losing a ball is greatly reduced, well you'd hope.
So anyway, well, brilliant. So that's this coming weekend and
then next weekend ramping up the festivities. Jingle bells ringing
for light up the night.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Yeah, it's a big party. Returns on set today so
what would that be? The twenty from.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Here from about six So the Christmas Tree, Big six
made a Christmas Tree is going up at the end
of this week.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
So oh cool.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
The network's crew and there again helping us put that up.
I think it's been we've had it for ten years,
so it's doing pretty good for us age.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Yeah, that's great. Sitting on top of the present there too.
You get an advantage from your office seeing that all
come together.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Yeah, will do. I hadn't thought about that. Yeah, that's
that's good. So that's evening. So the twenty ninth down
in Barren Squares, so will be there'll be some food trucks,
bit of entertainment. I think you're going to be there,
aren't you.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Yeah, you're going to do my best to try and
keep everything on track with the with the mic. We're
also going to have the I Heart ready a photo
booths so you can snap away memoir of the evening.
And then I think the children stay crew there or
with the Face Painting Center is going to make an
appearance and we have the chance to win, which I'll
tell you about very shortly. But for more details on this,

(06:09):
you've got a special website setup. We'ill is light up
the Night dot co dot in zen if I've got
there's details correct, I think yes, sounds good. Light Up
the Night dot co dot in zire. The event page
is on the council's Facebook page if you want to
give that a follow as well. Looking forward to getting festive, Yes,
it's not long as that. Have you got your own tree? Uplers? No?

(06:30):

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
