Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome Back Movie Man, Joe Danielson, How was Rozilla?

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (00:04):
It was great. I absolutely loved it.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
Can you reveal the song that you sung to us? Now?

Speaker 3 (00:08):
I sung teenage stutbag oh from Whetus? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Was that your choice?

Speaker 3 (00:15):
No? It was. It was quite a funny story.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
We showed up on the first day rehearsal and they
went through the list of who's going to sing what,
and they go, now, we haven't discussed this, but Joe,
you're going to sing teenage jutbag I go.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
I love a challenge.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Did it feel fitting?

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (00:30):
It was kind of feels like a song that was
written for me.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
It was.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
It was an interesting one because a lot of the
other songs we are very serious, and I came in
from the top flirting with all the people in the aisle.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
And oh, you were the fun one. He people's choice.
I've heard nothing but great things. So congratulations on an
awesome production. So from the big stage back to the
big screen at the Regent. You've been to see Predator
badly and you've come to the.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Most dangerous planet in the universe.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Jeez, how much action can we pack into ten seconds?
So what's this one about?

Speaker 3 (01:10):
So part of the franchise obviously.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
So the main Predator Deec, gets sent off to catch
the deadliest creature in the galaxy because.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
He's a bit of an outcast. Yeah, like a runt
of the clean he's.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
The runt of the litter, so he doesn't get any respect.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
I can relate.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Yeah, So then he goes out and gets this thing,
runs into an Android played by al Fanning to help
hunt it down.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
I don't want to spoil too much, but he does
end up getting the creature in the end.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Okay spoiler, Oh good on him. But there's a few
other surprises along the way there too. So this is
unique for the Alien and Predator franchise in the facts
that it doesn't feature any humans.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
It doesn't feature any human characters because ol Fanning plays
an android.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
So then you've also got all your alien species in there.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
So yeah, Predator that it's the scary one. It's it's
what always gets me is the face that opens up
and all the NARROI teas.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Yeah, yeah, it's got before we fangs there.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
So graphics are pretty good. Once again, I understand a
lot of this was filmed in Auckland.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Yeah, yeah, I found that quite surprising, honestly, not a
big budget too.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Yes, yes, one one hundred and five million.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Although the return on that coming rather swiftly people voting
with their wallets opening weekends. Last weekend number one at
the global box office was an estimated eighty million dollars.
So that's the strongest opening of the entire franchise that
spans forty years.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Absolutely, it beat the beat the first movie. I couldn't
believe it.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
So the other creatures in the in the flick? Are
they scary?

Speaker 3 (02:54):
One of them is very cute?

Speaker 1 (02:55):
One of them's cute.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
One of them is very cute.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
It's kind of like a mix some of like a a
monkey and a pug.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
Yeah, right, okay, but yeah, there's a lot of a
lot of surprises. There, a lot of a lot of
unique creatures.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
I say, yeah, is there anything anything else in particular
that caught you?

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Well, all the all the androids are played by ol
Fanning or the female ones.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Oh so there's more than just one.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
There's more than just one android.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Yeah, but they all have the same face in the
same body and like the god cha got chat the
same person?

Speaker 1 (03:27):
So you think they would save on budget. But if
anythink it's done the opposite. Yeah, and then the Male
Androids too, yes, yes, like Star Wars the Clones.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
Yeah. Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
Do you need to have seen the other preteci films
to enjoy this one?

Speaker 2 (03:38):
No?

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Absolutely, no stands on its own. Okay yeah yeah? How
many of those scary teeth out of five would you
give it? Joe?

Speaker 3 (03:45):
I would give it a four out of five.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
That's solid. What's sold it for you?

Speaker 2 (03:49):
I quite like the short run time. I'm very much
a short movie kind of periods.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Yeah, so am I being a family god. These depths, well,
how long does it go for?

Speaker 3 (03:56):
It's about an hour and forty minutes.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
That's achievable. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. There seems to be
an appetite to make them marathon length these days.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
Yeah yeah, like Lord of the Rings.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
And Grivenment was almost four hours.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Well no, I don't know what they're thinking.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
Nice to be able to buck the trend.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
