Speaker 1 (00:00):
This shown would being podcast. Hey that's us, brought to
you by Hello Fresh, the Experts and Tastes that kiwis love.
What's been happening in America? Particularly after the Jake Jake
Paul Mike Tyson fight over the weekends. We go live
to our New York correspondence YOSA radio show. Over there
in America, it's the Carle Good morning. How's things?
Speaker 2 (00:18):
What's going on?
Speaker 1 (00:19):
Guys? We're doing all right? Jake Paul, Mike Tyson. I mean,
we didn't pay thirty dollars for it or anything. We
all had pretty much Netflix accounts. But what's the talk
been like over there?
Speaker 2 (00:29):
I mean, I'm still buffering, so I don't know if
you are. They better get their their butts and gear
for Beyonce doing the halftime show for the Christmas Day
football game here in the US because she they just
announced she's going to be performing during the game on
Christmas and it's going to be on Netflix.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
When you say butts in the game, we trigger, Well
I can think of was Mike Tyson and a G string?
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Why?
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Like, why what was that?
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Why do I need to see that? And then somebody
told me it didn't happen to me, but they're netflix
froze on his butt like when it.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
Was meant to happen though, right, because I kind of
panned down to his butt cheekes, so it was like.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
It's someone seated on social media. It was like a
scene out of the office, you know, when the cameras
are on the move and it's a little all good
and it kind of pans down to it. It felt
like there was a lot of buffering problems going on,
particularly in America. Did that happen quite a lot during the.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Fight, every single person, like everybody was complaining and like
I eventually went to sleep, My husband was just like
came into bed and.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
He woke me. He was like, you didn't miss anything.
He continued to buffer.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
He was like Mike Tyson, it was it was pathetic.
It made him feel sad for him because he is
one of the greatest ever do it, and he really
shouldn't have been in there, be like the legend that
you are. You don't need to fight a dude who
clearly could take you. Now, when before did you see
the thing before when he slapped him across the face,
when I don't know what that was.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
First conference way and thing.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Yeah, for two seconds when I was watching that, I
was like, Oh, Jake's done for because it's just like
that was supposed to be a slap, but that's the
sheer power of just a slap from that man. I
was like, he's done.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
But clearly I was wrong. There's been a people on
social media suggesting maybe Joe Biden could be the next
opponent for Jake.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Paula, Yeah, he probably would just hold him. Yeah a
million dollar yeah, I mean listening, they both made money,
and I don't know. For me, I feel like even
leading up to it, and especially now it's over, it
feels real set up.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
Especially the end of the fight when they essentially kind
of bowed to each other and we're like, wait, the
bell hasn't gone the fight, it's not over.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Yeah, But I did give it to Jake for at
least showing some respect, Like he's kind of this cocky jerk, right,
and that's like his wholem O. But like he did
say after he won, like it's an honor to be
in the ring with you, you know, like you're the
greatest to ever do it. And he wasn't gloating, he
was just like, I really respect that you've got in
the ring with me, So I thought that part was cool.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Apart from the buffering issues, this is probably well the
first time that I've seen Netflix really dipping the toes
into live sports and having a live event which was
watched by millions. What did you think of Netflix doing it?
I mean, I like the idea of it.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
You said most people have a Netflix account, and it
feels like that's where something like this should be. Yeah, again,
they need to get their butts in gear, not Tyson's butt,
and try to make sure if they want to continue
doing live stuff, which I think would be super cool, that.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
They just need to get it.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
You know, all the quirks figured out.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
I was gonna say, you mean timed Beyonce's They're planning
on live streaming Beyonce. Is that an interesting choice given
what we're Beyonce? Is it in America right now?
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Yes, I think it's an interesting choice. But money talks,
and that was the first thing I thought of was
kind of like, I don't know, you think of like
to me, like a Beyonce like a tailor, in the
way that they don't need to do these types of things.
You can do what you want to do. When you
want to do it right, you don't need to like.
But I mean, if she's doing it, that means.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
They really they really offered a lot of money.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
I still don't understand how Netflix has the amount of
money that they do, but I mean they paid a
pretty streaking pen for that.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
A new movie, Wicked as in cinemas as of today.
It's the story of the Wicked Witch before Dorothy went
to Oz and the Land of Oz is awesome.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
You agree, welcome new students to She's University, Miss Alphama,
you can room with Miss Galindo.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Don't be afraid. So much hype for this movie. We
saw it the other night, Megan. It was incredible. It
was well worth the hype. You won't be disappointed. I wasn't.
And we wanted to know. Is that hype all over
the world? And we got Nicole with us. She's a
US correspondent. What's the hype like over there? Is it nuts?
Nicole like nuts?
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Like nuts? Because obviously wickeds here on Broadway forever now,
and that's probably one of the most popular Broadway shows.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
And like beloved.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
It's like like the characters are very beloved, and I
mean the cast alone is insane and just like all
of the costumes, I just feel like it's going to
be like this mad experience. It's going to be so beautiful.
I'm very much looking forward to going to see it.
But it's it's pretty nuts.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
It's something that you probably, well Kiwi's listening, probably don't understand,
you know, having gone to New York and seeing Broadway
and see there are so many shows and they're on
all year round. Like we get a show in New Zealand,
like if we can come to New Zealand and maybe
be here for two weeks, but these shows are on
it pretty much six seven nights a week all year long. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
Like sometimes when I'm complaining about like being stressed out
or tired from working, I'm like think about somebody that
i'm Broadway who literally gets up does the exact same
thing night after night and has to like give it
there all like it's their first performance because there's always
like a new audience. But yeah, it's there's something very
cool about you know, because our office is near Broadway,
and when you actually go to that area, it's sort
(05:44):
of surreal, like all the different shows lined up and
it's a very cool thing. So whenever anybody can get
to New York, you have to come see Asia or two.
Even if you're not into Broadway. It's definitely an experience.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
Yeah, we actually got to see it, Bean and I
we got to see what it is. And I have
a very vocal group of people in the theater, so
there was lots of clapping, cheering, singing, not singing.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
But just my life, mate, I want to hear. I
want to say Cynthia and Ariana do their thing. I mean,
my wife's great. But I was like, all right, but
there was one moment.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
There's one moment there, and it's when Ethan comes on.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
Who does Ethan play Bock? Explain that for me because
I've kind of forgotten about this. Are going on me again?
Speaker 3 (06:28):
So this is a relationship. Arena Grande is now with Ethan.
Whatever's faces later and they I don't know the timeline,
No one's true of the timeline, but pretty much he
had a wife and a baby. Nicole's making a face.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
I know for a fact that the timeline is cheating happened, Yes,
And for.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
A fact, cheating happens. So and now they're together and
they have been together for a while now. But the
first time they appeared on screen together, there is like
a little bit of lum interest and everyone kind of
gasped and was like ooh, And.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
It's funny thing seeing them do all this press. Like
she keeps being like, I'm so happy people are getting
to know him, like because she knows that he probably
got so I mean he did, he got so much
bad press and sort of looked like the bad guy
in all this. Doesn't seem like she was like anyone
pointed the finger at her. It was all like him,
like how could he do this? I guess because he
was the one married with the kid. But yeah, yeah,
she seems very excited that they finally can like be
(07:19):
out in public together and that people know who he is.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
Yeah, people know what he did and people were groaning.
It's like making wincing faces in the Cimmus. But it
was still good.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
That was an amazing, amazing movie. I can't wait for
everyone to say it it was. My theory is, though,
what are you working about this, Nicole? Now it's they're
gonna do part one, They're gonna do part two. That've
what he said there, and then they'll remake that was it.
Of Oz was some of the characters from What Kid
playing their roles in the new version. What are you reckon?
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Yeah, and then they'll do a prequel and then they'll
do like a reunion.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
But I mean Hollywood likes to milk things until it
is bone dry. Go, it's gonna do huge numbers. And
as soon as that happens, it doesn't matter if it's
good or bad. They decide a way to do more.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
Right to who would play Darcy theme, because that it's
going to be the most coveted role. It's only even
being Judy Galland.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Like a Sabrina Carpenter maybe because like sure it got
that like little girl thing going on and.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
She's got pipes.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
They'd have to dye her hair.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
But whatever, I think we just cast. That's great at
the great casting decision to call that's great? Yes.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
Do you want to know a fun fact about Dorothy?
One year, many years ago, I was Dorothy for Halloween.
And this was when I was still single, so I was,
you know, dating around, and I may or may not
have done the Walk of Shame in my Dorothy costume
with a little Toto and one pigtail. One beautiful Sunday
(08:37):
when everyone was out having brunch and just looked at
me like it's like she's shame on you.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
Why didn't you pull the other pigtail out?
Speaker 1 (08:44):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
I just was like trying to focus on getting home
because that was all I had to wear.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
It was clear shame
