Good afternoon, I'm railing Ramsey. This is your afternoon news
fix for Monday, the twelfth of May. Education Minister Ericus
Stanford's announced a one hundred million dollar boost for primary
and intermediate maths education. The money's allocated from budget twenty
twenty five over four years. He's senior political reporter Sophie Trigger.

The funds include four million to check each child's math
skill in their first two years of school to identify
those who are struggling rolled out. From next year, fifty
six million will go towards funding one hundred and forty
three new full time maths intervention teachers, while the remaining
forty million funds targeted small group tutoring for up to
thirty four thousand, year seven and eight students.

Stanford says giving students strong math skills sets them up
for NCEEA and beyond. The country's second most powerful cop
is quit before he could be dismissed. Deputy Police Commissioner
Jevan mcskimming has been suspen aimed it since December. Political
