Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome to Radio hodarchis Off the Record podcast with Greg.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Let's have a chat with teenage dads. Is that you
Vini or have we got the whole band?

Speaker 3 (00:12):
There? We have everyone in the car.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Guys, you want to introduce yourselves?

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Nice one, fellas And you're honing around the Australian countryside
at the moment.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Yeah, currently one hour and one minute away from Wollongong, right.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
And what happens in Woollongong once you get there.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
We are playing at a place called the Servo.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
We're going to be selling some records and just hanging out.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
With some fans. Basically just sold out a band, which
is cool.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Nice. The Servo sounds like an old service station.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Kind of looks like a spaceship, like a UFO, but
also like a Merry go round.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
There should be some food trucks, I think there.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
So is this a run of eclectic venue shows that
you're doing this week?

Speaker 3 (01:03):
More or less?

Speaker 1 (01:04):
We do Perth tomorrow and that's also at like an
arcade bar.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
I'm thinking of the games where you put the coin
in and then you've got to try and get the
claw down to grab a titty beer or there's the
other one. Where you've got to follow the dance steps
on the pads on the ground, are you guys any Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:21):
I don't know, I for any good at that.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Also suck at the claw machine thing, but I think
I think in Perth it's all the the retro games
like Space Invaders and stuff like that. But a street
fighter and probably pinmall yeah, and street Fighter and pinball
machines and stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
Yeah, that would be fun.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
So where do you fit in your band amongst all
the machines? Are you between slot machines? You put the
drums over there and the guitars over there by the
dance thing.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
And these events.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Connor and Jeordi performing on the synthesizer and acoustic guitar.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Nice, You're a New Islands. Next week the new album
is out. There's a song on it called Weapons.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
It probably took the most amount of attempts, feel like
we tried it three times, I think in the studio
and in different studios. My favorite band Phoenix, they talked
about a lot of particularly with vocals. If they can
hold on to the very first take of something, they
always will because they think it always holds the most magic.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Did you just as an aside. Did you watch them
at the closing ceremony of the Olympics in Paris?

Speaker 1 (02:32):
I wish I did, but I slept. I should I
should have watched it. From what I've seen, it looked awesome.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
They were supposed to do the opening ceremony, but the
place they were going to play on top of the loover,
there's actually a whole lot of beehives up there, and
they were worried about them playing on the roof with
disturbing the bees. So they're like, okay, well that's out.
We'll just chuck you in the stadium at the end
of the thing.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Wow, that's awesome. I had no idea. So we saw
the the Gojira one as well. Oh yeah, who was
really cool?

Speaker 2 (03:04):
It was incredible.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
A no, it was very cool for the I guess
the Olympic committee to get behind bands like that.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
You know, well, Brisbane in eight years, will Teenage Dads
be playing at one of those ceremonies?

Speaker 3 (03:19):
Probably not, but we'll see.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
You will be playing in New Zealand next week. We'll
get to those shows in a moment. But first, a
tune from Teenage Dads. This is weapons I'm radio headache. Yeah,
Hotel Gasoline. It's lady A Heardachey that it's a tune
from teenage Dad called Weapons. It's from their brain new

(03:43):
album Major Domo, which has just come out, and we're
lucky enough to have the fellas on a zoom with
us now cured to teenage dads. Thanks for bringing us
some tunes this evening.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
That is no problem. Thanks for playing it.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
On your way to a service station in Woollongong to
play an eclectic sort of a venue there with food
trucks and carnival rides and so forth at an arcade
and Perth tomorrow and then New Zealand next week.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
We fly into Queenstown we do snow Machine Festival. It'll
be our very first festival in New Zealand, which is exciting.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Are you gy skiers or snowboarders.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
I've never skied over None of us have skied over
in it. Oh you've skied angus is skied in New Zealand.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
There we go, so that'll be cool.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
And then we head up to Auckland. Yeah no, I
don't know if it's pronounced gelatoes. I think it's gallatos.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Galatos, yep, galatos, Yeah, gelases we have there's a Tuesday and.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Borttleline playing great and cool bands. Yeah, great bands, coming
back down to Wellington at Moon, finishing up in good
old christ Church at the church with our favorite people
in Jensen and Poolhouse.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Great and so again you've chosen some excellent openers on
your New Zealand two and.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Again Yeah, honestly, some great accent over your side.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
It'll be cool run. I think at each venue is
something new.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
As well, Like we've done the Tuning Fork a couple
of times and Loons in Littleton a few times, so
we're excited to mix it up and I feel like
our fans might be excited to mix it up as well.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
And the church is literally an old church. I mean,
you guys are saying that this evening you're playing in
an old retro service station. Seems fitting that you would
play in an old church that's been converted into a
bar slash venue as well.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
Yeah, we've heard great things about it apparently, like the spot.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Now four shows in just a few days in New Zealand,
you're really beginning a quick blast around the country and
then from there you're back home to Australia And what
is the next few months hold for you guys.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
The States at the first show is on the thirty
first of October.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
So it's like Halloween.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
Yeah, we're honestly so pumped for Halloween in the States.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
I hope it lives up to all the stereotypes from
movies and stuff.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
So we'll probably dress up.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Yeah, and then back home for some New Year's Eve
festivals and that's that's the year.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
And then next year are you going to go to
the UK and go see Oasis?

Speaker 3 (06:18):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (06:18):
Yeah, we were just talking about it on Saturday with
our tour manager. Angers started chatting about Oasis, and the
conversation was still like, yeah, it's never going to happen.
Like two days later, the rumors are out, and then
here we.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Are boom last night.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
Basically, I think.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Our first thought is to make sure we don't book
any UK tours in that period because no one would go.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
I think every dy rock band is just sick and
guessing everything around July August next year in the UK. Oh,
because yeah, that's going to swallow it the whole hot day.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
There are rumors that they'll come to Australia, maybe New Zealand,
but probably more likely you guys, so you might get
to see them a little closer to home.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
So the shows that are in New Zealands next week,
where can we find details on those?

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Teenage Dads Official dot Com?

Speaker 2 (07:07):
Are you gonna bring some records with you?

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Definitely, We'll have a bunch of fresh new match. We
have a green T shirt that everybody seems to really like. Oh,
we have some trading cards kind of like baseball Pokemon
type cards.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
I guess yeah, oh, with your faces on them.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
There's a group one, there's there's like one of each
of us, but we're kind of like in costume.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
It's taken from a music video.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
I used to colleck cards like that kind of stuff,
like wrestling cards and so forth when as a kid,
So I left to look out for those.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
Yeah, it's honestly really cool and Jod put on on
the back of them. It has the description and the
weaknesses and the strengths and stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
Yeah, it's been a lot of fun. We've only been
putting out.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
Certain cards in certain cities through our like fan channels
and stuff. You can see people being like, oh what
did they have in Brisbane?

Speaker 3 (08:02):
Like in someone buy me some, I want to collect
more and blah. Blah blah, so kind of cool.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
And what are your strengths and weaknesses?

Speaker 1 (08:11):
Do you remember, George, my strengths and weaknesses for the
chef card?

Speaker 3 (08:16):
Yeah, it was like I remembered. Weakness was like five
star health food rating. Five star health food rating was
my weakness.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Not a great cook?

Speaker 3 (08:24):
Yeah, not a great cook apparently in the in the
music video.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Oh well, I hope you have some nice meals while
you're in New Zealand next week in Queenstown, Auckland, Wellington
and christ Church. Details on your website and also your
