I’m running out of superlatives. Fortunately, I have a secret stash squirrelled away should Dame Lisa Carrington carry on her barely believable Olympic run

Note to commentators, you can’t say unbelievable, because it isn’t. It's happening right in front of your eyes.

What Dame Lisa is doing is extraordinary. It beggars belief if you will.

Last night's beat down of the opposition in the women's K2 500 final left me slack jawed. Along with Alicia Hoskin, they toyed with their opposition, a cat with wounded mice, batting them around the course until they grew tired with the game and slaughtered them without a thought.

To accelerate away from the cream of the world's female K2 500 talent like molasses had seeped into their lanes was a stark demonstration of the startling ability of Lisa and Alicia. The mental application, the physical prowess, the immense inner faith was there for all to see.

She is a generational talent. This we knew before the start of the games of the 33rd Olympiad, any lingering doubts as to the extent and dominance of her reign were put to bed last night as she, along with Alicia put on a masterclass in the restless conditions of Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium.

We are witnessing greatness.

What a time to be sports fan.

What a time to be alive.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
