Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, wrapping wararweek here on the country, it's time for
our monthly look at the will market with GM for
Will at PGG Rights and Rachel share our good afternoon.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Rach, Good afternoon, Row and it's great.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
To wrap warweek with you. I've really enjoyed shining a
spotlight on this incredible fiber this week.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Well, we need to thank you for shining the spotlight
on this wonderfully sustainable fiber that we in the will
industry all feel so passionately about. And we've really enjoyed
the great guests and the great stories you've had this week,
So thank you.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Oh no, it's honestly it's been my pleasure. I've really
enjoyed it. And as you say, we've had some amazing
guests who I feel like have really educated me as well,
So I've absolutely loved it. Hey, Look, as we do
every month, Rach, we're taking our look at what is
happening on the market here in New Zealand. What have
you got to wrap the week for us?
Speaker 2 (00:47):
Well, I'm really proud to say that we've got some
really incredible news to end the week on. A record
breaking fine will auction happen yesterday in the South Island.
So I'm delighted to announce that John and Sam mckatam
many from the Bend down in ran Fairly they achieved
a record breaking result with their twelve point five micron
Marino wool. It's sold for an impressive one hundred and
(01:09):
fifty five dollars per kg. Greasy wow. And that's yeah,
that's more than double that we talked about a couple
of weeks ago, and I told you that we were
really proud that we had bought the handa down on
a record breaking lot. Yesterday they surpassed that, not just
with this twelve point five micron lot at a dollar
one hundred and one hundred and fifty five dollars per kg,
(01:30):
but they had multiple other lots that also surpassed that
previous record from a couple of weeks ago. So something
they should be really proud of. Oh.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Absolutely, this is an amazing way to finish.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Will wait great, Jill, It certainly is, and John and
Sam's will is exceptionally well grown. It's very well prepared.
Were really pleased also to say that their successful buyer
was the Schneider Group and they have fine wool specialist
Helen Cameron. She has told us that that well is
going to be sent over to Italy. They've got some
renowned mills over there which process this rarely ultrifying fiber.
(02:02):
So it's really encouraging to see this demand for fine
wall and we're expecting this demand to continue. We're also
anticipating more of these ultrafon find microns to come to
the market as the Marino sharing continues over the coming week,
so perhaps we might see that record broken again. But
once again the bench is attracting buyers from Australia, showcasing
the strengths of the competition that's been generated here at
(02:24):
the christ Church Wall Exchange. So it's something that new
Zella Marina growers can be very proud of.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Oh absolutely, what about the North Island rightchel?
Speaker 2 (02:33):
So in the North Island they will start up again
auctioning next week after taking a two week break. So
with the main summer share well on its way, it's
just a great time for everybody to clean up their
wallsheds before the sharing gangs arrive, help get rid of
any of those potential contaminants which can call some concerns
through the supply chain. So the North Island action will
(02:54):
start up again next week. Down in the South Island
and the Crossbred space, we saw market prices kind of
stabilized for most styles because of the match of supply
with demand. And in the North Island we're actually seeing
the supplies a little backs from what we're anticipating, so
we're hoping those prices will hold up there as well. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Absolutely, I can't believe we're at Labor weekend already, Rachel.
This year has rocketed by.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
It certainly has, and can I say it row, but
it's starting to look a lot like Christmas. From the
office at the moment, our wooll Integrity online store has
just dropped their Christmas decorations and from my office, I'm
lucky I get to see these beautiful products, the handmade
in Nepal by Fear Trade certified manufacturer, and they use
the Zealand will that gets procured through our business here,
(03:42):
and that will those farmers have all been ethically growing
their will, and that will follows a path of genuine
integrity onto our online stores. So it's just crazy to
think that we're talking about Christmas already. But it's looking
pretty cool in our office at the moment. Yeah, it is.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
I didn't think anything could get me excited about Christmas
before we're ra even through labour weekend, but handmade wool
decorations that is actually pretty cool. Rachel share a GM
for Will at PGG writes and lovely to wrap war
week with you here on the Country.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Thanks Roe, have a good long weekend.
