Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hey, everyone, we want to tell you about our new podcast,
Daniel and Kelly's Extraordinary Universe. Hi.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
I'm Daniel. I'm a particle physicist, and I think our
universe is absolutely extraordinary. I work Ancern, smashing particles together
to try to figure out how it all works, from
particles to black holes, and to try to unravel some
of the big mysteries like dark matter and dark energy. Hello.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
I'm Kelly Wienersmith. I have trouble explaining to my parents
what it is that I do exactly, but at various
times it's involved jumping into dump trucks full of dead
fish under a summer sun, long debates over international space law,
co discovering a parasitoid wasp that emerges through its hosts
head which is totally mental, and writing science trivia cards
(00:45):
and well other stuff too. Also with a last name
like Wienersmith, I have a lot of practice laughing at
myself and the general absurdity of life.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Well, you forgot to say that you're also the upcoming
president of the American Society of Parasitologists, A Hugo Award
winner and a two time New York Times bestselling author.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Kelly Well you forgot, Daniel that you're a Fulbright Fellow,
Sloan Fellow, American Physical Society Fellow, and a Webby Award
winner and a Daytime Any nominee for your science show
on PBS.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
All right, Well, basically, we're both nerds. We love learning
about this extraordinary universe, and we love sharing what we've learned.
So that's what we're going to do.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Our new podcast, Daniel and Kelly's Extraordinary Universe, is all
about the mind blowing discoveries we've made about this crazy,
beautiful cosmos, from the tiniest particles to the biggest blue whales.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
It's also about all of the extraordinary things we have
yet to discover, the size of the universe, the true
nature of space and time, the existence of extraterrestrials, and
whether there's dark matter floating around Uranus.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Was that a joke? I don't know. I love it.
Each Tuesday and Thursday, we take an hour long dive
into some science topic, during which time I try to
suppress by biologists training and keep the poop jokes to
a minimum.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
So find out what qualifies as minimum poop jokes to
a biologist and a dark matter physicist and learn all
about our amazing and beautiful universe on Daniel N. Kelly's
Extraordinary Universe every Tuesday and Thursday on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
