Speaker 1 (00:06):
Whether you're a new listener or you've been with Family
Secrets since the first season, I wanted to take a
moment to thank you so much for listening. This week
has been really exciting personally for me. We launched our
first episode for season two on Monday on The Today
Show with season one guest Steve Lichtie and season two

(00:27):
guests Brigette M. Davis discussing their Family Secrets with me.
Next week, we'll resume our normal schedule of publishing a
new episode every Thursday, and we wanted to share a
preview of the next episode with you right here today.
We forget that our parents have their own lives, their

(00:48):
own desires, and in some cases, their own secrets that
they've covered up in order to protect the family. But
what happens when your elderly parent develops Inmentsha forgets to
cover his tracks and in doing so Unlesha's a Pandora's
box of secrets about his sexual escapades and misdeeds. So

(01:21):
my father and mother are walking. And one thing about
my father, um is he was always very jealous. He
was very conservative in certain ways. He didn't want to
talk about sex, He didn't want to know about sex.
He thought pornography was disgusting, really sort of antiquated possessive

(01:44):
behavior from my father. So they were taking a walk
in this little old man on the side of the
road says hi to my mother, he's probably, you know, ninety,
and my mother says hi back, and my mother sort
of says, I think, you know, I think Bob might
have a little crush on me, And all of a sudden,
my father says, really, well, then I'm going to get

(02:05):
back together with Karen. For more podcasts for my heart Radio,

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
