Speaker 1 (00:09):
Hey, how's it going, How you feeling, and how you doing?
It's another episode of Nerd Deficence and it's me your
host if you anyway, and sitting across from me, as
always is Danny Fernandez. Yes, and today we are joined
by one of our good friends, very esteemed guests. Um.
I'm always like, the weird thing about you know, working

(00:31):
in this industry is you get to become friends with
people who you thought were cool way before you even
met them and find out the losers. Yes, yes, just
like yeah. That voice you hear is none other than
Malcolm Barrett. How are you doing? Hey? This is one

(00:52):
of the most professional podcasts. Thank you. And I've been
on a number of podcasts. I know we somehow, some
way this week is set up, and it really I
like when we have people who have been on krilling
it come on this where it's like, yeah, oh yeah,
we got snacks, we got catered food, some of these

(01:14):
parmesan Chris. Because I've been I think three fridges. I
even told Malcolm, Hey, if you don't find the drink
that you want in this fridge, we have one upstairs
has even more drinks. Yeah, Um, Malcolm, so people would
know you from literally everything. I feel like you've been
on every show ever. Um, you're an actor, a writer,
so you said, sometimes a rapper, now a play, right,

(01:35):
But is this your you've done the play? Is this
your first play that you've written full length? Place? Okay,
I've written a couple of short plays. Um. I had
my own theater company years ago in New York. Um,
and now I have a second one. Them artistic director
of Ammal Theater were devoted to diversity. Um, we have
you know, women and people of color at the top
making decisions. I think that's real diversity. When you just

(01:57):
hire a guy, it's not really like you know, just
like one thing they're like, hey, like what's crazy is
like all these like um, I'm gonna talk about my
own industry, but all these like networks they do these
things where they have these like diversity initiatives and they're
like we're gonna get to the bottom of this and
you'll be able to speak to HR and this and
that and blah blah blah. And it's just like, hey,
you know this, it's the best diversity initiative. Hire a
person of color to do the job that you're hiring

(02:19):
white people to do. That's that's my diversity initiative. Anyway, Malcolm,
what do you think that people Because we were talking
about what people come up to you the most about.
Do you feel like now it's timeless or does it?
Because does your timeless family was like legit, like they
are so hardcore standing for you guys. Yeah they are.

(02:41):
They are. Um They're lovely and scary, which is how
all relationships should be. UM there, Yeah, it's really it's definitely. UM.
What's the name of the show timeless? Timeless is uh
because I think, you know, I'm one of those people
where you probably like, you know, it's weird to talk
about my own career like this, but you've like seen

(03:02):
in random places and things, and I've I've worked pretty
regularly since like oh three or something like that. UM
in the TV game and and so I think and
so not. Like I was telling Iffy and tell both
of you guys beforehand, it was like, okay, like usually
I can tell my Sonny in Philadelphia crowd, I can
tell like better better there's better off to mostly better
off Ted Sunny in Philadelphia, the People's UM and Timeless

(03:26):
people's only Black people know me from People's UM sunny
in Philadelphia is usually jock white dudes and and Iffy.
Look I was, I was right. I love I love that.
That was my my episode. Um, Charlie Day, who I

(03:47):
met because I did a show called Louis Uh the
first Louis not the not the Bad Louis h Yeah
yeah Louis Guzman. Yeah y um, so that's how we met.
But yeah, mostly now it's now it's Um, it's timeless
because because because it's family, it's a family show, do

(04:08):
you know what I mean? Which I didn't really even
realize in my head. Um, but now it will be
like whole white families being like, is it you rufus?
You know what I mean? I'm like, yeah, it's really
it's really awkward. Luckily I'm bringing Rufus back. I'm ringing
rufe is bad. We've been starting our podcast by asking
people what they're geeking out about. Um, Malcolm, can you

(04:30):
tell us what you're geeking out about? What am I
seeking out about? Um? I'm I'm really into watching I'm
a TV guy. So I've been watching Black Summer and
Barry Um Bill Hayter. It's just very funny and weird. UM,
and my new My new nerd hobby is, uh, these
like collectible figures and things like that and like one

(04:52):
sixth and all these things. So I got a couple
like I got Planet Hulk Ragnarock one and it's pretty big.
And I have um Infinity Gauntlet and Red Hood and
my boy made me some a couple of cows, some
Batman cow. So that's my new thing, is like putting
grown up toys in my office. Like my office is
just it's just like there's papers and a credenza. Because

(05:14):
I'm an adult man. I just wanted to own something
that that had that many syllables, uh and and just
really stuff like that. And comics, just random comics there. Yeah.
I it's funny you said office because I had them
in my room for a little bit. I'm like, nah,
I can't look at you when I'm trying to do
the deed. Yeah, I can't. Punisher, Punisher just looking at me.

(05:39):
We're making eye contact. How you're thinking about? Yeah, John Burnthal,
the thing that I'm peaking out about. We just had
the met gala. I love that some people didn't know
what camp was because that was the theme. I thought
that was really it was really weird. To see people

(05:59):
just dress really nicely. Yeah, Like I was like, well
that's do you give me your tickets? Okay, you don't
deserve to be there. It's funny too, because I've always
like gauge different levels of career where I'm like, oh, yeah,
I just want to be in like a movie, and
I was or I just want to be in and
it's like I want to be invited to that. How
do you get like, wow, those people are at a

(06:19):
different level. Those are a different level. I realized I'm
not a met Gala dude. Just I mean, it might happen.
I just I don't see it. Like I bought jeans
the other day. That was a big deal. Look at
these blue jeans or you could do that Chadwick flex
of like thanks for the invite at a blast, but
I'm on setly. I think Rihanna did that too. She

(06:41):
was working. Where is she? That's like I'm on set. Yeah,
Michael B. Jordan's showed up. You know, he looked good.
Like I always find it interesting when guys find the
best way to play it safe. Yeah, it's like like
there's something on here, there's someone that's text that's like
when I know when when I'm gonna be ready, When

(07:02):
I'm ready, I'm gonna turn out. I know I'm not ready,
only because I would have showed up dressed as Yogi Bear.
I did not get what camp was about, and I'm like, okay,
I don't see what this has to do. Have a
little Yeah. I think that would have been funny if
like a camp, Yeah, you would have had a little
boy scout vest dress boy from up Yeah, like like

(07:26):
everyone would have been like, you know, he missed the mark,
but he he nailed it. I would love it if
you went as a girl scout and just like handed
out someone that would see that, see, that's why you're
too good at this, because that would actually be on board.
That would be that would be yeah, that would go
what the kids called viral. So the camp is a
drag queen thing. No, okay, I just was going based

(07:47):
off Ana it is. It is heavy. I don't know
who would you say create a camp. I feel like
it's an aesthetic that definitely goes back to like inspired
by drag queens for sure. Yeah yeah, And I think, um,
but it's just like over the top, this acceptance of
like I think they're trying to go against traditional art
by being like completely over the top. It's almost like

(08:10):
making fun of yourself. Okay, there's a show a great
John Waters. Somebody like included a quote about what it was. Yeah,
there's a there's a Simpsons episode where John Waters guest
stars and any and they're like, camp is like ridiculously
ludicrous or ludicously Yeah, ridiculous or or something to that effect.

(08:31):
But it's always it's always like a sort of tongue
and cheek winking, another extravagant sort of thing. Oh and
then I would have had to just show up naked,
like I don't know how tongue in cheek that is.
There are some cheeks involved. Um, so the hallmark of

(08:52):
camp is the spirit of extravagance. Oh yeah, we will
bleep you, okay, dope are uh And you know, the
thing that I obviously was seeking out about was Spider
Man Far from Home. I wanted to say homecoming. H
And it's so funny because it's such a good trailer,

(09:15):
and you know, like, I'm gonna just go out with
the theory that I think isn't even that much of
a theory is m masterials bamboozling everybody obviously he's one
of you. You're gonna show me a Spider Man trailer
where one of his most prolific villains is an ally
and they're fighting this no name elemental beast like you

(09:36):
it Mysterial has bamboozled him and Nick Fury and into
thinking there's a multiverse, and then the post credit scene
is going to be a real multiverse, Like it's gonna
be like, oh, I guess it doesn't exist post credit
there's a multiverse. I could definitely see that. I think
they're definitely setting up that Mysterious like his whole thing
is he's an illusionist, do you know what I mean?
So like he's clearly just like faking good. He's he's

(09:57):
done this and they're gonna turn over and veil himself
as a villain. I think they said that that. I
think that fight is actually from a cover of one
of the Spiderman magazines of Mysterial versus the Water Monster
or Water Guy or something like that from back in
a day, So it's like a direct callback. Yeah. Um,
but yeah, I think it's gonna be a whole thing.

(10:18):
And I just I'm still young enough in watching these
universes that I'm amazed that we've gotten to the point
where seeing the sort of eight spider leg Spider Man
suit like that, like that is a commonplace thing. You
don't even think about there, Like here's a couple of
seconds of that suit. You remember it, right, boom boom,

(10:38):
and we're in not de Noir. When you see him
in the old Black Yeah, it's gonna be spidy porn.
That's That's what it seems like. They're just going over
the top. They're like Mary Jane already knows, let's go
into it. Yeah, the fact that they're able to put
that many suits into one movie, Like you have three
different Spider Man suits in one movie, at least just

(11:01):
from the trailer alone, you know what I mean. And
it's the most advanced suits they got, you know, at
least two out of three of them, you know. And
I think jumping off into the Spider Verse coming off
of that, where like you could literally see each one
of those characters having them. Yeah, you know what I mean.
I think that they are. Also it's like if you
talk in multiverse, I'm just gonna say, I think we

(11:23):
might see Miles. I think we might see for sure,
we're talking multi versus already and they're said, They're said,
are you totally I think so? I mean you got
the Prowler in the in the cartoon. Plus you had
Donald Glover as the Prowler in the last Spider Man one,
So I mean they're they're setting up for his identity
to be a little bit on a cinema it all in. Yeah,

(11:43):
and especially with that multiverse from Avengers, like they said
the Vengers in games set up of multiverse, you know
what I mean. And the fact when they when I
heard it in Spider Man, I was like, oh, like
we might really do this, Like you might really start
getting these newer versions of the comics like after a
new fifth too and stuff like that. Yeah, okay, I'm ready. Yeah,

(12:04):
but today we're talking about Street Sharks. About sharks. That's
the second time I've done that transition, you know, And
and I'm gonna just be straight up off rip. Street
Sharks I liked better than Ninja Turtles. Are you I'm
a California kids. Are you're talking about a blading group

(12:25):
of you know, like because because like they are I
will say half Canadian, but like you know, Ninja Turms
was so New York heavy that like having the Street Sharks,
and it had a lot of like, you know, l
a aesthetics because you know, you had the Blades. They

(12:48):
liked burgers, not pizza. You're you're a rocket power kid,
you remember, Yeah, So I was I'm in it. I
was like, let's go. I had the Street Sharks and
then they brought in the Killer Whale, which was a
black guy, and I was like, yes, let's go. You're
making this formul love that that has been your esthetic

(13:08):
now for like the rest of your life. It was
just like a buffed out dude tongue exactly. Wow. Okay,
So Street Sharks is an American Canadian animated series about
the adventures of crime fighting half man half sharks. I
would say they're arguably most sharks, the sharks that are
out of the water. Oh yeah, but actually I just

(13:30):
pause you one more time before you read the rest
of him. I have revisited it since I was a kid,
and this is definitely a kid if he loved this.
And now, to for lack of a better phrase and
actually the best pun, this is a show that has
jumped the sharks from the beginning. I was waiting to
say that I wanted it so bad, Like from the beginning,

(13:54):
built this in. I built the whole materials around this
one joke. I can't do the jomp no more. Malcolm,
when you when you said that you were up for
Street Sharks, why did this pop into your head? Because
I love eighties and nineties cartoons. So I love battle Cats,
I love what is it? Uh? I love battle Toads
or what was it was boom Cats or whatever the

(14:15):
hell those things were. I can't remember. There was like
the Mecca, like the Mecca Ninja Cats. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
it was all those like weird things X Men, Mike, Yeah,
biker mice from Mars. I love that show. That was
weird boy. Yeah, I just love these weird I thought
the animation was all weird and fun and like, I

(14:38):
feel like those shows either went super dark or rewatching
Street Sharks went super environmental, like like the big thing
Free Willy, all of you stop polluting the ocean coming out. Yeah. Yeah,
there's a whole thing about New Captain Planet. Yeah, there's
a whole nuclear weapons arc. Slowly going to get that

(15:00):
into the kid's head. Yeah, it's talking about the Cold War. Yeah,
it's like really weird, But I love Street Sharks because
I don't know, I loved eighties and nineties and not
ones from the nineties. I just loved how preposterous these cartoons.
Like I just feel like, I feel like SpongeBob is
like relatively normal as a cartoon. It's like undersea creatures.

(15:21):
They were giving them names and faces, like it's just
a starfish. But like all of Street Sharks is about
these super cool nineties X game kids who turned in
the Shark Outlaws sharks like who keep getting framed, which
which is apparently amazingly easy to frame a bunch of

(15:42):
anthropomorphic sharks, because I feel like once you see an
anthropomorphic shark and something happens, you could just be like
the sharks didn't Like probably sharks probably did that. Yeah,
it's oh my gosh, But I feel like it's also
I really wanted to revisit it because I feel like
it's the joke that you have, Like everyone kind of
knows Street Sharks, but like, I don't know that you

(16:04):
could And I think I can come close now, but
I dare you to name all four Street Sharks. Well,
I cheated, I don't go off the top top. Alright,
I'm moving the phone away Ripster. There's ripster whose real
name is I don't know, I don't know. It's really

(16:29):
John okay John Bolton. Was there one called bite? No? No,
okay no, but there is a one word now, uh blade?
All right, let's just go. There's a jab right, there's

(16:53):
a ripster. There's uh not tsunami, h not Shamo. Just
just think of where we're at in this show. What
would they call Shamo? It was god damn, it was

(17:14):
hold on, hold on its ripster, ripster, jab streets at
k blades and then Killer Camu or something like that
was his first name, Big big, what is it big
slam big slam mood was not Shamo slam Oo. Yeah,

(17:34):
oh man, Yeah no that was that was that was crazy. Yeah,
it's it's basically uh. It follows the university professor named
Dr Robert Bolton and his partner Dr Luther Paradigm. Which
is funny in all these shows, even in Mega Man,
it always seems like every scientist has a counterpart who's
just bad that you never caught on up until the

(17:58):
moment you try to do the big here a bit.
It's true. There's always like one good scientists, one diet
scientists and they're best friends for yeah, uh you know
it's but they create a machine known as the gene Slammer.
None of the scientists. Yeah. So so this this show
was an embodiment of that moment in the early odds

(18:18):
when everything had to be extreme. You had Extreme Dorito's
Extreme Clean deodorant. This is this is like the most
nineties show. And that's why I said it really took
all of the anthropomorphic animals shows and they're like, we're
gonna jump the shot literally. Uh but then um, you know,
uh he he It was hybrid. He was doing a

(18:39):
hybrid experiment, turning aquatic animals into like anthropomorphic hybrids, combining
their DNAs with humans. And uh, obviously Robert Bolton needed
to stop. Yeah, he had to stop Paradigm from using
the machine for personal power. I don't know what other
reason you'd use the machine. Um and then uh then
both and has turned into a monster and he escapes

(19:02):
and Paradigm gives Bolton's four sons, John, Bobby and Coupe
and Clint the likenesses of four different sharks, and when
Dr Paradigm captures their friend Bends, the resulting street sharks
rescue him and combined Paradigm with the Piranhadin. Yes, uh
Dr Parana, Yeah, Parana paranoid by other characters, and and

(19:27):
and so uh Dr Paradigm. It creates a variety of
monsters to destroy the Street Sharks while trying to persuade
the inhabitants of their native metropolis of Fission City to
imprison them. And uh so then a few uh ended
up becoming friends with the Street Sharks, which we got
our brother who ended up becoming moby Lick Yeah rock

(20:00):
in Manta man Um. And then eventually as it got
later into the series, we got the Dino Vengers. From
that series, it was yeah, the extreme Dinosaurs, oh man,
And I remember that one because that one they were
in a they're trying to prevent uh the other dinosaurs
from creating global warming. Yeah, the Raptors bad rap. So

(20:23):
they ran from to seven and the creators were David
Siegel and Joe Galiani. I thought there was a female creator,
you know, and she wasn't credited. Um, but yeah, so
what I guess what was your favorite? What was the
shark that you gravitated towards the most? My favorite shark,

(20:45):
even though I can never remember his name was Killer.
I like blades. I like trees because just because he
had rollerblades and they would sometimes not be there and
then sometimes automatically be there, um, which is like one
of those weird cartoon conventions were only like they would
just skip out, like someone didn't pay the money that
day for like those couple of frames. Um. But yeah,

(21:06):
I liked him just because he was he was rollerblading.
That was literally it. But then but then it was weird.
Is they clearly got so I was looking up the
first season, it's like three episodes or something like that,
and in the second season they like extend. But what's
great is they clearly got a memo because two big
things change, which is that um, the opening song changed,

(21:28):
because the opening song used to sound like Mr. Sandman
or some old sort of nineteen fifties before people had rights,
so it was like it was like they fight, they fight, um,
and then they just sort of updated it until it
was like more sort of like a California, you know,
surf tempo song. Um. And also Ripster suddenly had powers,

(21:54):
like he suddenly had like tele telekinetic or sort of
psych powers that only came into play for I think
literally one episode, like I think they gave it to
him and then forgotten was like, how did they get
that power? Would we give that shark giant sharks? Yeah,

(22:14):
they don't need to tell the future. Yeah, no, that
that was the fun thing about it. My favorites were
both jab and um Ripster and those were because those
were the darker. Those were the darker, which, by the way,
that definitely was an initiative thing, like they definitely were like,
let's create some dark ones because I've never seen sharks.

(22:37):
If He color that was the color scheme for these sharks,
was like, oh if He and uh Steph Curry those
those were the two sharks. But I was here for it.
And then they then they brought my man's moby licking.
I was very happy. Well, and then they had the
black chick scientist at the beginning Lena, which was cool. Well,

(22:59):
this is something, but I think her brother gets on
drugs or something, you know, I bet they were trying
to get in one of those Saturday storylines, you know,
like the Hey, what I found these in your bedroom?
I just wanted to like one of those ps is
that they did happened Like her brother Malik is taking
like drug like muscle enhancing pills. Talk to um also

(23:21):
if he inspired and then and then uh yeah, I
think they find out and then it's like a whole thing.
But yeah, it's very weird. They super fleshed out the
personalities of each of these characters, which I want to
get into, but we have to take a quick break,
not pop back into Street Sharks right after this Street
Sharks and we're back. We're still here, joined by Malcolm So.

(23:48):
The first one up of the Street Sharks Ripster John Bolton.
I love that they have like regular names, regular names.
And what's great is they suddenly adapt their new names,
like while they're chilling like um Ben, suddenly he's like, man,
you really ripped it. You're a bit of a ripster.
He's like, yeah, ripster. I like that. Yeah. Yeah, that
is the interesting thing. Why would they change their for

(24:10):
all intends of purposes? We're the same person. I'm not
gonna call you. They have to get a new driver's
license and all of that. You could just show up
as a shark named John Bolton. Let's talk about how
bad that home life was. This is a single father
of four children, and this father is also a scientist,
so he's not at home. No, noot sharks. Let me

(24:35):
really get let me really get into the meat. Yeah,
I bet, I bet somebody's trying. Somebody's trying to reboot
all of these. All I could think when I once
I saw them going into space, all I could think
of is like, we literally have like a raccoon in space,
a raccoon for the elites, a raccoon and a track

(24:57):
a train in space. I was like, we could definitely
have sharks in space. Yea, Like why is that? Like, now,
that's not as weird as it seems, but you know,
you've seen that one like weird crocodile hurricane movie that's
coming out, and the crawl is what it's called. And
the funny thing about it is, at first, like when
I first started the trailer, I'm like, Okay, this is dumb.

(25:18):
By the end of the trailer, your boy was sold.
I was like, let's go, let's crawl. So yeah, I
think we can have sharks and stuff. There's like seven
shark nadoes. Yeah, oh my gosh, you know, and you
know what, pretty great, pretty good time and you're just
want to get stoned and watch something funny with your friends. Look,
it doesn't take itself too seriously, but it's always there's

(25:41):
always that dip because there's always like when a movie
is like pretty bad because you know, they earnestly tried
and it just didn't work out, you know, and there's
a lot of moving parts in here, you know, we
need we're not trying to dog anyone up. But sometimes
you make something bad and it's like genuinely funny. But

(26:01):
then like when people lean into that where it's like,
all right, we're gonna be bad, then it's never as
funny good, yeah, because it's like like there's something about
like honest, like it's just like a fake fall and
an actual fault. Like if I see someone trip and
it's funny, you know, but if someone like tries to
fake trip to make me laugh, it's you just see
the you see the attempt to fall Street Sharks. How

(26:24):
do you I want to adapt that? I want that
to be a thing I was having when Ninja Turtles
came out. They made that work. Yeah, the original Ninja Turtles. Man,
they're bringing uh yeah. But I think that might also
be because we watch it with an air of nostalgia
in a way that like maybe the younger general. I
try to show my niece some videos when I was
visiting with her, and it was just like she just

(26:45):
doesn't gravitate towards them the same way that she does
hurt her newer like Mowanna she'll relate to. She doesn't
like the older Disney movies as much. I feel like,
if you go back to Eastman and you show Little Boys,
that's Eastman, Little Boys and little Girls. I'm little girls
like violence too, uh. But like he was one of
the creators of the Teenage Mutant the comics when it

(27:08):
was like straight, when it was not for kids. Yeah,
I loved it. I was like, this is it. But
I feel like it's very like Edge Lordie, and I
feel like people would be still be into that. But
like I feel like the original t m NT that
we grew up on, that we that was better quote unquote,
I think, yeah, there's like an air of nostalgia for it.

(27:31):
So we have Ripster, who is the smartest, the leader,
and the oldest of the four brothers, who enjoys creating inventions.
He has taken up most of his knowledge and skills
from his father. He's also added this an avid pool player,
he's a pool shark and the Wow Wow. In the
first episode of the show, John rides a motorbike. When

(27:53):
transformed into Ripster, he becomes a great white shark, able
to bite through steel as well as having extrasensory ability.
Like you were saying, yeah, it's interesting that they wanted
to flesh. I just imagined someone they came with. Okay,
so he's a shark and they're like, yes, but like,
what is his what is his motivation? What is his obstacles?
There's scenes where he's playing pool and I don't understand

(28:17):
how it's moving the plot and it's amazing, Like because
they clearly came up with a word play before they
came up with the scene. They're like, he's a pool
shark genius right the scene. I want to take one
moment to correct myself. I do a quick Google search.
There are iffy colored sharks. They're out there. I don't
want to erase any of our brothers. Sharks has already

(28:39):
tweeted to me because they tweeted before it got to
this part of the podcast. Does work? No, people people
like will They're like, when they finished the end of
the episode, they'll tweet and they're like, oh, never mind,
you clear to that. Never mind I listened to twenty
seconds later. Yeah, you just gotta wait. Well, lots of

(29:01):
times I like to you google what I say. I
like this because I'm usually on podcasts where they don't
care about actual information, not survive. Yeah, and you know,
because we're that was a piece of the Parmjohn Crisp,
I'm having a ball over. You don't understands my best life.

(29:22):
But yeah, no, well you know stuff, Media, now, I
heart media has has been known for getting there if
the zacts shipped straight. So when you're held to the
same standard, you know, I was gonna say, yeah, yeah,
I was gonna like call out specific podcast networks. But
I ain't trying to start no beefs, no, no, no,

(29:42):
I'm trying to just no, Zigler, I'm coming at your neck,
That's what I'm saying, chopping you right in the neck. Zigler.
Happy birthday, by the way, jab Clint Bolton is the
lazy is the laziest of the street show they have
to do, but enjoys boxing sport. Yeah, and he won
the race at the beginning of the episode, and he
appears to have some talent with mechanics and when he's

(30:04):
transformed into jab he becomes a scalloped hammer head shark
and uses his head as a battering ram. But then
we have Streaks. It's pronounced really weird because it's got
to exce at the end of something. It streaks. Yeah.
Next we have Streaks, which is Robert Bobby Bolton Jr.

(30:24):
Is a level headed, cool, and self proclaimed ladies man.
That is not something that you. That is a that
is a title that is given to you, not what.
I don't know what to say. I don't know what
to tell you. He's always but these two things don't
go hand in hand. He's well, actually he's a self
proclaimed ladies man, and he's always shown wearing roller blades

(30:48):
um so that yeah, and appears to enjoy parachuting and
snowboarding and later plays drums professionally. Wow, I know exactly
who this person is. When transformed into Streaks, he becomes
a tiger Shore, named after the purple streaks on his body.
In the toy line, he was originally called Blades for
his skills as a roller blader. So something that we
talked about Malcolm and our teenage mutant in De Turtle

(31:10):
episode was that they were largely the show was created
to sell toys, and we brought that up about um,
several other of these eighties and nineties series. To me,
it helps ground everyone where they're like, not my teenage
mut the art and I'm like, but my show, And
I'm like, but your show was created to sell to Like,
you know, let's I still think it's great, and I

(31:31):
still think it's funny and awesome, but like, let's take
it down or not. It's no, it's always funny when
people don't realize, like all of these cartoons for for toys, yeah,
you know what I mean, their their marketability. They had
to prove that how are they going to sell ads? Um.
That was a conversation again that my man Rod Serling
had uh talking about you know how you have to
kind of please that even though you're creating art. It's like,

(31:54):
how are we going to please our ad sales at
the end of the day. That's how you make shows. Yeah,
and we all remember those really cool Twilight Zone toys.
Next up, Big Slim also Streets or Streets is Streaks
or whatever. He's played by what was it, what's the

(32:15):
last letter X Streaks? Yeah, Um, someone's going to correct us.
Someone is it Streets? Yeah, I think it's Streaks. Yeah.
He's played by dude from Book of Mormon. Really yeah yeah,
who's on that Don Cheetle show now? Yeah Andrews? Yes, okay, yeah,

(32:35):
we do not know that storied career. Yeah, he's guy
he's been acting on since he was like fifteen or something. Um,
Big Slim Move and Dr Robert Bolton are both voiced
by d Kevin Williams. Yeah, I'm gonna. I just want
you to read that last sentence on Streaks again. Oh.
In the toy line, he was originally called Blades give

(32:56):
me my money, y'all. I want you all to read
one When I was laughed away from the mic Blade, No,
I think you said Wheels. I said no because because
I had the Streaks toy and I had the Lobster.
So so that's why I said Blade instead of Streaks,
because that was what my toys said. You were laughed.

(33:20):
I was laughed away from the mic, but I just
felt good inside. You know you can laugh at man. Uh.
Cooper Bolt so Big slim O Coop Bolton is the
strongest and youngest of the four. He's also a football player, yes,
in high school. In the first episode, he uses a skateboard.
When transformed into Big slim Oo, he becomes a whale shark,
and his most prominent maneuver is the seismic slam, in

(33:42):
which he may shake or crack the ground with his fist.
Sounds kind of like Hulk, but yeah, and that was
a real cool move. Which, by the way, this is
a great point time to mention that there was a
lot of collateral damage within the street Sharks and what
they did when they would dive into the asphalt and
create these just streaks. We can have it on these streets,

(34:03):
Like I don't know what to do in to the
public workers here. Like also I want to say, you know,
no offense to all my coups, Bobbies, Clint's and John's,
but that that's not a name I think a scientist
was gonna go for, Like this is someone who's about
to have a legacy frat sons yea to Clinton, Yeah, Cope,

(34:27):
Coop a Man, Coop oh Man. And then we have
Dr Robert Bolton. Uh. I just love that Bolton was
the last name they went with. H They didn't go
deep with like Paradigm Parade was like you're like yeah,
but Bolton you know that. You gotta a university professor

(34:49):
and the father of the Bolton Bros. Who invented the
gene manipulation device for peaceful uses. Once again, what is
the peaceful years for that? I don't know, but the
same thing ass. So I look at this as Jurassic Park,
which they ended up addressing that because originally it was like, Oh,
we want to create these creatures or recreate these creatures,

(35:11):
and then eventually it's like what happens when it's in
the wrong hand and they actually try to turn them
into weapons. So I was glad that they finally because
at first it's like, oh, they're killing us, and then
it's like, oh, we could use them to kill So
I'm glad that in the franchise they finally address that.
But anyways, I think that that is comparable is like, oh,
I want to create. I want to see what I
can create, what kind of um, you know, creature can

(35:34):
I create with this d n A. And then it's like, oh,
but of course there's somebody that's going to use it
for bad and it's your buddy who's evil. You've been
doing science with fresh friend years. That's Bud who has
science it up with yeah, uh yeah, and then uh yeah,
it's pretty much so afterward he is only ever represented
by a shadow cast on the wall. I don't remember that.

(35:56):
So what happens is very in the very first episode,
he tries to stop his best friend slash Matt scientist
buddy paradigm um, and then I think he gets hit
with the stuff he gets hit with, like some genetic stuff. Yeah,
and he just you just know, he looks horrible. That's
all you really know. And then you like see him
in the shadows for like two and a half years.

(36:17):
It sounds like a missed opportunity to talk about acceptance.
It does, right, Yeah, you never see him. He's arrested.
He's like he's like the good version of Dr Claw,
Like you kind of almost see him, and he never
really do. He helps some people out, and it's great
is he sends them helpful emails throughout the show, but
it's the nineties, so it's like the first time they're

(36:38):
depicting emails in a cartoon. And my favorite is like
there's a giant She's like, I have an email and
it's like a giant envelope on the screen and she
goes an email at this time of night, like like
an email at seven thirty. That's insane. That's my favorite.

(36:58):
So then we have Curtain Thomas Bolton, who's an ancestor
of the protagonist who was encountered in the episode Sir
Shark a Lot. He is the target of Paradigms time
travel excursion to destroy the Bolton family. And I go
back in time, which every cartoon anthropomorphic show does. They
always have to go back in time. Yeah, you get

(37:19):
you definitely want to go back in time. I mean
Ninja Turtles did that? What movie number three? Third one?
Sir shark a Lot. I love their need to be relevant.
I played with my brother. There's the trivia game that
you can play on Amazon Echo. It's like a music trivia.
You can just like Echo play or Alexa play whatever
like music trivia, and when you win around or when
you win a question, she'll be like lit And then

(37:43):
she'll be like stay woke. I'm like what who wrote this?
Not kidding? You? Go play your music trivia game on
Alexa and she'll be like, uh cool a for something
like that, Like those are her words. Somebody totally hype eat.

(38:04):
I just can't believe the one that was like they
woke in her robotic voice. Let's dip into you know
our man's Doctor Luther Paradigm. You know your voice by J.
Michael Lee. He's the main antagonist. He was also a professor.
He had a metal eye patching kind of gives it away.

(38:26):
Just these evil scientists just hanging out with you. Well,
and then he wears. Then he winds up wearing this
like big metal outfit to like defend. And I must
say there is a plot hole in uh Street Sharks,
which which is that he's like he's like first he's
on a good side and they're bad, and then like
but then he like beats up a cop or two

(38:48):
or something like that, and then like and he goes
into hiding and you'd think he'd be the bad guy
from on, but he's not. They're like, you know, they're like,
he's got to come back. He's looting the nose. How
to stop the Street Sharks because all the episodes are connected,
like twenty four you know what I mean, Like you'd
end the next episode would be so he beat up
the cop and the cops, a lot of the cops.

(39:10):
I guess they forgot what they weren't cops. They might
have been military or something like that. Which it's like, yeah,
now we still need you. We look these these like
roads have been jacked. After we waited all you could
beat up more of us. It was really a municipal show.
The show was about municipalities. Yeah, and then uh, yeah,
apparently you know, Dr Paradise even goes on to create

(39:35):
uh and he injects himself with iguana DNA, which was
given to him by the raptors, and uh, and it wasn't.
It wasn't. He thought it was going to be the
loss of raptor DNA. And then he became dr Iguana
Zoid and he said, and he helped out the raptors anyway,
hoping that they will actually give him the loss of

(39:55):
raptor DNA. That's like the second to last episode. Yeah,
and then by Shark Apocalypse Now, which is the finale,
that's series finale, the dr Iguana Zoid is apprehended by
the street Sharks. You know, really heavy movie for a
kids show. That's a great reference. Yeah, Apocalypse Now. Kids

(40:15):
love Apocalypse movie. They you know, they really love movies
about Vietnam. They're just drinking them all in and so
your guy Moby Lick Jets. His name was Jets Taylor, which,
by the way, his first name was Jets. That's amazing,
like not Jet, but like his parents wanted him to

(40:36):
be a football player. Is a good friend of the
Bolton Brothers and Ben's. Under Dr Paradigms mind Control, Jets
is combined with a killer whale by Dr Paradigm in
order to make his latest CVI it, which is a
bad guy becoming moby Lick. I mean that, I don't
know if that's the best name for a kid's but
sure because they already wasted big slim guy who's not

(40:59):
a killer. Honestly, Moby Dick probably would have been worse.
So he later broke free of Doctor Paradigms Mind Control
and became an ally of the Street Sharks. Moby Dick
has a long tongue, which is the source of his name,
great strength, and the ability to inhale water and expel
it through his blow hole, and later demonstrated the ability
to communicate with other killer whales. In Shark Hunt, it

(41:22):
is revealed that Moby became an eco conservationist. I love
that in the Everglades National Park they needed to be like,
how can we educate these kids? I loved it. Oh yeah,
we're deep were I mean, something was going on. We're
really pushing the conservationist movement. What happened, I don't know.

(41:43):
We stopped we need it more now. We stopped after
friend two or whatever. Yeah, they're like stopped cutting the trees.
And then it was like you know what, um, we're
just not going to give this, you know, buy some
more toys. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah. They were doing these
like t V shows about you know, saving the environment

(42:04):
and recycling and using them to sell plastic toys. We
were playing the game all along. We fell for the trap.
We fell for the trap. We're gonna go deep into
some of the villains after this and you know, talk
about some of our favorite episodes. It seems like I
had a short run as a kid. I remember it

(42:25):
being much longer, but as but that's because you watched
the same episode twenty times and you're like, yeah it's
it's a new one or something. Oh yeah, that is
a short run. I'm gonna go back and watch them
one now. But we'll get into that after these messages

(42:45):
and we're back, and yeah, you were right, there were
only forty episodes. There was only three seasons. I guess
it is pretty cool though that it had such a
big impact that, like, I feel everyone our age and
maybe the generation after an above No Street Sharks, I
feel like every street Sharks like not as intensely as
they know Ninja turtles, but they like, no, they're sharks

(43:08):
that were on the street. They're anthropomorphic, you know, Calabunga sharks.
And I guess there was there was also we didn't
mention this a direct to video feature film. Have you
seen that? Yes, as they do on VHS. Direct to
video feature film of the Street Sharks with all Oh
No all season one episode Shark Bait, Shark Bite, and

(43:29):
Shark Storm that were combined into one titled The Gene
Slamming Begins. It was then followed by two episode movies
using episodes from season two. One was Shark Quests with
two episodes Shark Quest and Loan Shark, and the other
was Shark and Roll with two episodes. This sounds like,
is this a movie direct to video feature film? It

(43:50):
sounds like they're just combining the episodes. Sometimes they repackage it.
That's what it sounds like. By the way, I Love
I loved I Love Street Sharks because they were all
pretty cool about turning into sharks, like there was no
traumatic They're like yeah, yeah, they're like well, if you
think about it, if you like think of like nineties
high school kids, if you don't do it, shark, you'd

(44:12):
be like, yeah, jawsome, that's literally what happened. They were
like they were like all right, like they didn't care.
And also it was like around they also were like
hitting on women the episode, which is like the women
were really attracted to them. When you think about how
terrifying this would look, because even if you have to

(44:32):
the the head to body ratio on the Street Sharks,
I don't want to understand that anatomy. No, I completely get.
It's why everybody was in love with the Lost in
Space robot because they're like, oh, I just want something
that's not the men that I'm around. I'm not kidding.
That's like the joke that I see all the time.
It's like, oh, what you're not, like, you're not the
human man that I have to deal with all the time. Sure,

(44:53):
I'll take you. I mean you're gonna get ghosted just
by a man who's a shark. Can you imagine you
wake up, you go to sleep with a shark. Can
you wake up and it's a regular man? You're like, no,
where was the or you wake up and it's like
sharks in the ground, it's through the ground. Didn't I
see butthole? Oh there's um there. I watched this of

(45:19):
the toys. I watched this commercial vin Diesel. Yeah was
that where he's yea yeah, yeah. That was also a
period where we were comfortable with anthropomorphic animals and people
having sex like Howard the Duck style. Oh yeah, oh yeah.
I was like, where are we going? I didn't know,

(45:41):
you know, with this new lion king. That's all I
see on my time. It's not all I see, but
it's a lot of what I see on my time,
like some sexy. One thing I remember is uh ripsters boots,
these boots that he was my man like. He looked
like he was turned up. What's even scarier is people
have a live action fan art of what they would

(46:02):
look like in real life. Is scarily arousing. Scarily I
was going to use a different edity have tix pack abs.
It kind of looked like thor but with a shark head. Yeah,
it's very comfortable, yes, or as Danny would say, sexy. Yeah.
I think I think the Internet is also embraced that fully.

(46:25):
I mean we're in a weird time. Yeah. But what
was interesting about the Street Sharks is they weren't shy
about completely leaning into the fact that they were in
direct opposition of the Ninja Turtles. So that's why they
were in the burgers because there's literally a scene where
they're like, pizza, give me a burger, which, like who

(46:47):
says that person with taste buds chooses one of the
those are like apples and oranges, literally disgusted by pizza,
but totally for a burger. Yeah, you you like a both.
I'm sorry. See, and we're gonna find some weird nerd
fan that are going to be like not if he
actually I hate pizza and I think I don't be like,

(47:09):
I don't know what to do with you. They're a
direct competition. They had like a fake beeB up and
ruck steady. Yeah, it was. It was so funny. And
what's funny is I was on the Street Shark side.
I was drinking it off. I was like, hell, yeah,
like they don't need weapons, they go under the asphalt.
I love that. It's like a Biggie pock thing. Oh yeah,

(47:31):
that's what it was. I know. But teenage muting turtles
still kicking Street Sharks rested. True, But I bet it
will come back. And I also probably in ten years
will have a live action version. I don't want to
see me. If it is, you will see my name
in the credits some shape or form. I could see
you as a street if that means I have to

(47:51):
be a p a. My name is going to be
in the post. I can't see his mobi lick. Oh yeah, yeah.
We can't forget about Roxy. You can't forget about Rocks,
who are the only female Street Sharks, and you know
that because she has eyelashes and is pink um. Every
time that you have a female character, you know, she

(48:14):
has the big lipstick. She's wearing a bikini top right here.
Oh my gosh, I don't even know about Roxy. Is
that really end? I think so it's when they really
went into the Street Sharks m c U. Because Roxy
is like the big problem with a lot of especially
nineties just anything where it's like you gotta give them

(48:39):
breast and lipstick, like it just looks bad. But the
fact that the picture and it's very un comfortable. I
don't have the same that Danny had. What it was
just kidding. I mean I did have a crush. There
are several cartoon characters I had a crush on um
one of which is Max from a Goofy movie. Huge crush.
I know there are people out there listening that all.

(49:00):
So I had a crush on him, and I weirdly
also had a crush on Jack Skellington from A Nightmare
Before Christmas. Cool. He dressed well right, and he has
a deep, low, like sexy voice. I think it's the voice.
I think it's because a lot of these are animated,
so I think it's the voice. The voice of them.
Max had a really cute voice. It was the voice
of like somebody that I would date my age or whatever,
even though he was in high school and I was

(49:20):
in elementary school. I'm sure I had a crush on
every female cartoon Yeah, like Lola Bunny. How many guys
crush on Lola Bunny, Rock Sand from a Goofy movie.
I want to go back and really look into the
fashion of each and every one of these street sharks,
because I think it's something that we glossed over that
is truly truly unique. So like like I said, for Ripster,

(49:42):
he had a belt, buckle, jeans and some like straight
up bant the boots like which you know, if you're
not Latin next you just don't know. I'm sorry, if
you don't know, you you know what I'm talking about.
You know what I'm talking about. That's straight cool style. Anyway,
that's the boots he's kicking with. And then you have yeah, okay,

(50:02):
all right. Uh look I grew up in Compton, like
in like Dorothea Flats neighborhood, which they really weren't messing
with black people, but you know we get along when
we got along, uh because of Puerto Ricans. So yeah,
well that was what's so interesting. This is night once
again another one of our because like growing up like
my my like Latin X community was Salvadorians, Guatemalans and Mexicans,

(50:27):
like I'm sure they would probably Puerto Ricans, definitely Cubans,
but like like like it's crazy to see like where
the like capitals are, Like the Nigerian capital is Houston,
like yeah, that's where all the Nigerians be at and
I'm surprised my dad didn't move there. So it's like
interesting to see where people of color just kind of
gravitate towards and they're like, yeah, this is our spot.

(50:50):
Mine was my families from San Diego and so Chula
Vista Mexican and the San Antonio, Mexican and it was
just Mexican. That was that was us. We just gravitated
words where which what um let me get the name
of them all streaks? Which one was Streaks. That's the Rollerblader. Yeah,
my man is in rollerblades at all times, Like I

(51:12):
think that's something we glossed over that and in every
scene you look at Streaks, he's in rollerblade. We don't
talk about how this is just how he has especially
made rollerblades for himself. There was Giant Sharks. How he's
running with everyone and fighting and he has blades on
the like and he's got neon green shorts that are

(51:34):
ripped and it's like, what is going on? I like that.
They're like, well, he can't, like it has to be unbuttoned.
It would be unrealistic if it was buttoned all the way.
But he is in blades all the time. That that
we will stick to at all times. Then we have
Big Slam, who's you know, just to remind us that

(51:55):
he's a football player, is always wearing the bottoms always
once again another all of these pieces of clothing. It
looks like he's in spring training. Yes, oh my gosh.
But it was like, but that was like nineties cartoon,
whereas like your personality and status in high school, that's

(52:18):
your costume, that's who you are. Yeah, you're always you're
the jock, so you're always going to be wearing And
then the hammer Head was wearing like wrestling pants. I
don't know what those look like straight up. Yeah, they
gave up by that point, everyone had so much personalities
and my man uh jab just had like Sean Michael's

(52:38):
walkout tights. Yeah. And so then they crossed over with
Dino Vengers, which ended up being their spinoff series. That's
when I feel like they were heavily trying to sell
toys during that because it was like then they started
using flying machines and all these things, which I felt
like there was a lot of toys for at that time,
Like you were just adding stuff to the street Smart

(52:59):
street Shark toys, yeah, you know, yeah, because there were
those like I don't even know, not nerve, but they
were like those um yeah, yeah, yeah, the spinners. No, yeah, exactly,
we're saying, would shoot it and it wouldn't spin off.
Um yeah. So diner dino Vengers were a military unit,
so their veterans from the inhabited dinosaurs allied with the

(53:24):
street Sharks once ordered. I thought they were at odds
with them. At some times there were at odds with
the Raptors, Like basically the Raptors came down the guy
Bad Rap. That's another guy that they named. I love
the way they named people on this show. Like literally,
Bins comes in, He's like, Rap, that's a bad rap,
and Rap goes bad Rap. I like that. Literally half

(53:47):
the character is a trope that that hate and love
and they'll never get old to me. And someone's saying something,
Who's like yeah, like like even if we go back
to solo, huh, you don't know your last name yourself?
So love I love it, but I love that bad

(54:07):
Rap ideally would already have a name. And then hears
him called he's like, yeah, bad Rap, Oh my god.
So the dino Vengers are T bone um Staggs, which
is a stegasaurus and T Bone is a Tryanosaurus rex

(54:27):
bulls eye spelled with a Z, so you know he's cool.
And Spike, which is a triceratops. Yes, yes, they all
come down after. I think Manto Man we haven't talked about. Yeah,
he's a flying dinosaur like alien specimen. Yeah. So Manti
Man combs with bad Rap and so he's like, I'm
gonna show you where you're from, and then he realizes

(54:49):
he's bad, and then bad Rap brings all these other
raptors down, and so then it becomes the bad Rap
the raptors versus the what are they the dino the
dino cop. I feel like this has more multiverse exploration
than Teenage Met Ninja Turtles. It does. Like the last
the last six episodes are like in space. Well that's

(55:09):
what's so funny, is like, yeah, like every in that era,
you know there was, it was. It was a big
time for crossovers, because let's not talk about we can't
talk about crossovers and not talk about the biggest a
crossover of our lifetime, the Battle Toads and Double Dragon,
Like did that happen? You're gonna say Teenage Turtles in

(55:30):
Power Rangers? Oh, that did happen. But no, I remember
it was Battle Toes and it was a video game
Battle Toes Double Dragon, and it was so hard. Was
the worst. I hated that game because I feel like
we all died at that part where you're on that
little hove craft and you have to avoid the rocks
or whatever. I gotta move up and down in your
time that and you died every time. I hated that game.

(55:53):
That's how it felt about Lion King. I. I got
it rented from Hollywood Video and there's that jump that
Simba had to make and I just, yeah, I just
kept dying and I had to give it back. Remember
when we used to like rent video games. That was
the best. Aladdin, Yeah, that one was a fun one.

(56:15):
I didn't have problems with that one. But Lion King.
I never got past that first jump. I did download
the game the emulator as an adult and beat that
part just for myself, but we're out of you, and
you know, I just had to go back and do it.
But yeah, no, you had a lot of crossovers. I
totally did forget that. You did have the Ninja turt
Power Rangers episode. When you think about it, that was

(56:35):
a huge effort when you think of what Power Rangers were,
which was just action scenes imported from Super Sentai shows,
So they really did have to like commit to that too.
Like break did they have live action Ninja Turtles? Yeah, yeah,
and they teamed up with the Power Rangers, so and
that had to be like a venture, which I'm sure

(56:56):
we can look in some future episode we do about
Power Rangers before watching Ninja Turtles. But yeah, these So
the way the Power Rangers works is they get all
the action scenes from the Sentai show in Japan and
then they shoot all the American scenes around that and
they link up. So for them to take an American
property like Ninja Turtles means that they had to like

(57:17):
go out and independently shoot this stuff. So they had
to do a new thing. Yeah, this is Malcolm experiencing
what it looks like for the first time. His mouth
is a gate, he's not speaking. Eight minutes of silence. Yeah,
it's it was great. I remember that was you you

(57:38):
know what that did? Uh? That is ultimate gonna be
I don't know, I'm gonna have to look at that, right. Yeah.
I mean, as a matter of fact, I'm gonna just
take the time to find out exactly because there's no
way they would have had shell shocked. Shell Shocked is
the fourth episode of Power Rangers in Space. It is
the crossover with Ninja Turtles the next mutation. So this

(58:00):
was wow. So it was a cross over Ninja Turtle's
next mutation. So that was a show. So yeah, I
guess we should talk about our favorite street Shark moments
where we wrap this up. Yeah, I mean I already
said minds a million times was moby Lick, And it
is one of those like to be corny for two seconds.

(58:23):
It is one of those like representation matters because yeah,
I had the Black Sharks for you know, the self
proclaiming black Sharks, but then you always knew that if
that they were these four white kids who like turn it.
So like seeing this, like black kids show up and
be moby lick and it's so funny. How like in
the grand scheme of things, it's the silliest, dumbest thing.

(58:43):
But like for me was a big moment. Uh just
seeing this, you know, they're like they added a black kid,
so you know that's you know, just think about that,
it seems dumb. I'm like, I'm sure, like all my
someone who is not black who watched streets Arks? That
was nothing. It was just this other new character. But
for for little wife's out there, they're like, yeah, I

(59:07):
could be a street shark now, No, I dug that.
I dug that. What about you? I mean you you
the one who seen it the most recently since you
jump back in. Um my favorite oh, my favorite moment.
This is really weird because I like obscure stuff. My
favorite moment is there's a scene where Bin's who's there

(59:30):
sort of who drives the thing? He's there sort of
Kato Kalin slash friend and he's literally driving, and there's
just a scene where this woman gets surprised and scared
by these sharks twice in like ten seconds, like literally
she's like and then like she walks along and then
the car stops so she looks at him, goes walks away.

(59:54):
It's really weird. Yeah, it's really weird moment. But I
I love that there too. That I the episodes just
to piggyback on you saying like that they had to
touch cultural issues, um and societal issues. There's one called
Cave Sharks that air where Doctor Paradigm announces the Wolverine
peds essentially wolverines as a solution to the pollution problems. Um,

(01:00:19):
he's like Thanos up in here. Um. And then there's
another one where they're called Rebel Sharks and also is
season three, so this was their final final season. Responding
to a letter from a boy whose country has been
taken over by a dictator, the Street Sharks free the
boy's dad and topple the evil dictator. Yeah, the Street

(01:00:41):
Sharks are doing at all social justice warriors. Yes, yeah,
they're not just petty little street sharks. They they the Avengers.
They started working with the President, which is like hilarious,
like because that's how the Dinald the Space ones came
is that the President was like, hey, we're getting something
space and they were like we'll handle it, Mr President,

(01:01:02):
which is amazing. They're like aliens are coming sin Street Sharks.
The Street Sharks are a bottle part to American history.
And I gotta say this is with pleasure that I
give this metal bandor dou Rister jab Streaks and uh

(01:01:24):
moby lick rest in Peace. Two. That's a really good Nixon,
you know what, you know what, I appreciate it if
he as someone who has had their impressions be loved
on here. Actually, nobody has ever written me that they
don't love my impressions. That's your best impression. Um No,

(01:01:47):
my joke impression is a Jimmy Stewart one. Just um
from Um. It's a wonderful life obviously. Yeah, that's right,
that's right. Jusus petals, jusus petals. Clarence, Clarence, I want

(01:02:08):
to live, Clarence. Everybody loves it, nobody hates it. Not
a single person has anything to say. I thought you'd
do the It's your house, Mrs Marianne and yours and
yours Clarence, Clarence. Please, Um, I think we're good here. Yeah,

(01:02:32):
where can people find you? Malcolm Man? Why don't you
go ahead and tell people how to see that dope
play you're about to say. Mostly people will find me
at home, but if I leave that place, Uh, they
might find me at the Pico Playhouse. They can go
to Ammal Theater dot com. The play is running. It's
called Brain Problems. I wrote it a minute, along with
most of the with a lot of the company. Running
until May nineteenth, Friday through Sunday, Fridays at Saturdays at

(01:02:54):
eight seven pm on Sunday. It's fun. Yeah, can you
tell people a little it about what it's about. So
um based on a friend of mine who was going
through things that he was going through. It's a play
about a sort of cynical man who's diagnosed with a
life threatening ailment who coapes by retuning into his imagination.
So it's kind of based on a buddy of mine

(01:03:16):
who actually had arterial m venice malformation or two of them,
which are basically swelling in a brain. And so I
wrote this sort of my best way to relate and
understand to that, And it's sort of drama um, and
it's basically what it's like to be inside somebody's head
for the course of an hour. I basically use the

(01:03:36):
the idea of what it's like, you know, if you
ever have a conversation with somebody and there's like a
million ideas that roll through your head um at any
given time that aren't just that conversation. That's kind of
the play toppled with the idea of you're sort of
losing your head in a certain extent because of confusion
or memory loss or dreams and things like that. And

(01:03:56):
so it sort of combines what that means as a
regular person, and what that means with someone who's suffering
from my threatening illness and how they deal with it.
And so I use that as an excuse to just
sort of have fun and show every piece of weird
thing in my own cranium and put that on stage. Yeah,
if you send us a link to that, we can
include it in the show notes. People can go there
and buy tickets. Um, I'm at ms Danny Fernandez. Check
