Speaker 1 (00:05):
Hey, this is Annie and Samantha and welcome to Stephane
never told you protection of iHeart Radio. Um, So, this
episode I think doesn't need a trigger warning, but unless
you're like, I really can't handle something making me very
(00:27):
angry right now. But also there's a lot of humor
to be because we're gonna be making fun of some
narratives that have happened recently around women in marriage, specifically
as the title suggests. So just just to put that
out there, I think I think it's equal parts infuriating
and funny. I don't know if you agree, Samantha, but
(00:48):
oh yeah, well you know the moment you're like, did
you get this email? Because it was sent to our
email address the actual show, and then it was sent
to you directly, and it literally to me is tell
me you have not listened to our podcast without telling us.
You've not listened to our podcast, like and even looked
(01:11):
over the titles of our podcast in general, point blank
and this email is it? Yes? Okay, So before before
we get into that, I'll explain it. But one of
the reasons I was thinking about this is because, um,
and you can check out our kind of post election
reflection Monday. Many we did for more information. But one
(01:34):
of the narratives that came out, and a lot of
you have probably seen this clip circulating is um this
Fox News story newsdesk where they're trying to figure out
why there wasn't this red wave they had predicted, and
one of the hosts, a man, was like, its single
women went for Democrats by thirties seven points. They're brainwashed
(01:58):
by Democrats. They need to get married. Men go out
there and put a ring on it because otherwise keep losing.
And these Democrats, they're putting policies in place that are
keeping women's single. So we've got to stop this right now,
keeping women single. I love that. That's what's the mindset.
(02:20):
It's like, interesting, you really think that Democrats hold a
whole of fighting when it must be single. Let's do this, Yes,
he said, did they make it hard for women to
get married? There's a lot to unpack and and all
of that, but he literally said men go out and
(02:40):
put a ring on it at the end, so he
referenced a Beyonce song yes to get his point across
to other didn't even know he just heard it, which
is what happens in times not realizing, oh, you're literally
taking from black people once again. Yes, yes, but it
was one of those things where I'm like, I can't believe.
(03:03):
I mean I can, but wow, for a modern day
newscast to basically be like, women need to get married
to make sure that politics play out how I think
they should play out, which, by the way, he's also saying,
and the numbers do show this, but there's more nuance
to it than that. But he's also saying like, once
(03:23):
women get married, they go super conservative, which is I
will say, and we've talked about this before. I did
have a friend who flipped flopped her abortion stance after
having children, and her excuse to me was, you don't
know what it's like to have a kid. And my responses,
did you ever work with a kid in a system?
(03:44):
And have you actually helped any kids that are in
the system? And her face just was dropped a little
bit and didn't say anything else, and that was the
end of the conversation. We're not close. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
oh my gosh, So it does I mean, it does happen.
But he was basically I think the I think there's
(04:04):
a lot more we could talk about that. He was
just glossing over other than they have brainwashed one way
or the other. Um. Basically, I mean it's implying like
women are so easily manipulated. Uh anyway, No, it's definitely
an implication that if there was more control over women,
and women don't have the mind set to think for
(04:27):
themselves correctly. So therefore, I mean, there's definitely a lot
of no ones like, wow, you really hate women, Like
do you not understand how little do you think of women?
And that's a problem, Like what incredibly offensive it was.
I couldn't I wish I had recorded my face when
I was watching that news clip, but like, oh my gosh, Wow,
(04:49):
you're saying this on TV. Okay, Um, And to that end, yes,
Samantha referenced this email. So as part of this show,
we get a lot of what I call cold call emails,
which is clear like they're emailing a bunch of people,
you know, hey, have this guest on your show. Sometimes
they're personalized, and I can tell we've actually listened to
(05:10):
the show most of the time they're not, which I understand,
like that it's so much to listen to out there.
But as we've discussed, because we have Mom and the
name of this show, right. We get a lot of
emails that are very specifically focused on issues around motherhood,
which we do talk about, but most of them are
not what we actually do talk about when it comes
(05:32):
to motherhood. We're not giving mommy advice and we would
never right, we're not. Essentially every host that's been on here,
I think one out of all of us have actually
had children at least planned a pregnancy. But I mean,
like even still, like only half of us are married.
I think if that of all the hosts, yeah, yeah,
(05:57):
so it's one of those things where I get it,
but most of them I ignore um and most of
them even if you know, this isn't it, this isn't
a good fit. I could kind of see why you
thought it would be m or you know, maybe eventon.
But this email, this email we got and I was
(06:17):
reading it and my I just my jaw dropped to
the floor, almost like I could have not believe somebody
sent this to us. And again that they double down.
We rarely get double emails. Essentially, we get one or
the other and they don't associate their addressed to us
in the email to our actual show stuff. I've never
(06:41):
told you you know that often happens, but to get
it to your like personal email work email is a
whole different level. Like this dude doubled down. Yes, and
though you really you want them on this show? Yes, yeah, um,
and we're not gonna We're gonna avoid saying his name
because we really don't want to give him any His
(07:04):
name and his little slogan are so ridiculous that I'm like,
but we're not going to no, and I mean it's
easily found out, but yeah, I just have no interest,
um in giving him anymore traffic. It was kind of
hilarious where I was like, you clearly have no idea
(07:24):
what we're about, or either you do, and you're so
deluded that you think that we would read your email
and be like, Wow, he's got some good boys. I've
been changed. Let me get married yea. So we're gonna
(07:52):
read some sections of the email and react to them.
All right, So it starts with we would love to
have you interview this person on this explosive topic about
how feminism's mission to empower women has actually ended up
making women less happy, America less populated, and men wondering
what in the world is going on The world is
(08:16):
going on. I mean, at least for what it was
as an introductory you are intrigued. You're like wait what, Yeah,
I was like, okay, what's where's this going? Explosive topic?
They also bold, there's a lot of like red fonts
and like big letters. You know what I'm talking about,
(08:40):
Like this is how you get attention for your person,
and that it starts with feminism's mission to empower women.
So at least they understand, yeah, a little bit of
the bottom line of yes, we would love to empower women.
That's what is. So you've got that party right. That
(09:02):
is interesting where it's sort of like maybe if we,
you know, feed them a little compliment in the beginning,
they won't realize. But you know, that's the thing is
that I don't think they think of that as a compliment.
You know how oftentimes when it comes to the antie
of one event, so anti feminist movements idea is that
they're going to take whatever rhetoric is used and then
(09:24):
flip it to weaponizes. So I don't know they actually
think this is a compliment as much as like, oh, yeah,
you're empowered. Oh yeah, yeah, I think you're right. I
think they were just like this word is what is
used in this conversation a lot, so we'll get them
this way. It continues. Feminism in its current form is
a blatant attack on the very structure that makes America work,
(09:46):
marriage and family. This guest can discuss the rise and
fall of feminism from a historical perspective that dies directly
to communism, marks and b LM, and discuss in depth
what this radical movement has done. Two men, two men? Okay,
so so far what we know from this dude. He
knows every word to use to rile up conservative followers.
(10:11):
So Marxism, communism, black lives matter, uh, radical movements. Obviously
he knows this level of like all right, and then
also what makes people feel comfortable? Marriage and family which
was a whole damn subject in high school? Did you
have that lags in high school? Marmily? What it was
(10:34):
part of our home x stuff. Oh my gosh, see
I had to take home back. But it was like
how to crack an egg? Yeah, So they did a
lot of like marriage and family. Also like marriage and
family uh in college too. In college, and that's the
mrs degree type of level they're just trying to get
(10:54):
it moving on. Like, maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm remembering
something as like a social work so Jack, but I'm
pretty sure that was there. So again, I'm from well
you're from a small town too, but l J. Georgia
absolutely fed into this level of like preserve the family
and women should be taught these things. Um, it's very funny,
but yeah, I find that they did well in finding
(11:18):
the right words to rile up certain people groups. Um.
I also want to go back to the fact that
they're they're very concerned about America's population. Yeah, and we
know that's a that's a white supremacist term and tactic
just as a Yeah, it sure is. And I mean
I think it's clear. But this is a man we're
(11:38):
talking about who's just like, let me come on and
tell you about feminism from a historical perspective, which I
think is pretty telling. Yeah. Um, all right, so clearly
we get a lot of thoughts about this. We've been
getting riled up. I got all the rants. Yes, this
this one is chock full of rance, which I think
(12:00):
gets appropriate. But that means that we are it's a
surprise part two that happens sometimes a surprise part two.
Uh So be on the lookout for for the next
one and for even more infuriating funny things and our
responses to them. Um. In the meantime, if you would
