All right, welcome back into theshow, my friends. Glad to have
you here. Final hour countdown, getting a way for Clay Travis and Buck
Sexton to grace us with their presence. In the meantime, You're stuck with
me, the little Chihuahua of talkradio, red headed stepchild of the iHeart
Kingdom. But I'm okay with thatideal with it. I have a good
identity and it's fine. I dotherapy as well. Good to have you

(00:21):
here on the radio. So alot of you responding to this story,
let me post it up on myFacebook feeds. State experts have now said
that a man charged in twenty twentyone with the killing ten people at the
Colorado Supermarket in Boulder, the KingSupermarket. They've been trying to figure out
for three years of the guy's nuts. Is he's insane? Is he not
insane? We don't know. Theycan't get him to court. State experts

(00:42):
say, well, he was legallysaying at the time of the attack.
It's weird. But what most peopleare comedy gone is why did we ever
know the guy's name? What's thedelay? Why does it take so long
to figure out if the guy's sayingor not saying. I mean jud Lee
Harvey. John Hinckley Junior Rush hadsaid they figured out if he was saying
pretty quickly after he a tempted toassasinate Ronald Reagan. But for some reason

(01:03):
John Hinckley Junior gets treated a littlebit, a little slower. I guess
where technology is worse now. Amadal a we ala. Lisa is the
guy and he's been held and they'retrying to figure out if he's got his
uh, if he's should be inthe padded room anyway. Really a lot
of you commenting on the story.Let me post it up and you can
comment there. Facebook dot COM's lastJimmy Lakey fan page. All right,
ladies and gentlemen, Aviation travel Theexpert above all experts is mister Jay Ratliffe.

(01:30):
He joins us every Thursday at thistime for an Aviation and Travels segment.
Jay Ratliffe, Jyratliffe dot Com.Good morning, sir, welcome in
pleasing, good morning, well topof the morning to you, sir.
Let's dive right in here. Acouple of stories out there, by the
way, I got it. Somebodymessage me the other day, said Jimmy
Boeing, is causing problems for mycompany. I think they work for Southwest.

(01:53):
Is there anything going to happen? We got we gotta explore this and
keep me posted. This is whatyou hear is happening with the Boeing cop
because more and more people are goinghow did they get by with this nonsense?
Well, i'll tell you what. It's five years ago when we had
the two Boeing Max crashes, itwas revealed for the first time that Boeing
was aware of the fact they hadsome deficiencies, some safety issues that were

(02:16):
ongoing with their airplane, and thatthey actively covered that up from investigators,
from the FAA, from pilots, from airlines for a number of years,
and it ended up in the resultof two crashes killing four hundred and thirty
six people. And as a result, what took place after that point was
Boeing was kind of unnoticed. Now, they apologized to us in twenty nineteen

(02:39):
saying that they were going to makethe necessary changes, change the CEO and
they were going to be returned tothe Boeing of old. Well, we
now find out five years later thatwas a bunch of crap, because they're
doing the same stuff now. Ifnot worse than what they were doing before,
rushing airplanes through security. You andI talked about. At the beginning
of the year, they sent amemo out to airlines saying, those of

(03:00):
the operating the Boeing Max aircraft,we've had mechanics from airlines report that we
have the missing or under torque hardware, meaning missing nuts and bolts that kind
of holds the airplane together. Twoweeks later, the last Airlines door plug,
boom out. It goes big timeproblems at Boeing because the issue they

(03:20):
had five years ago was Airbus waskicking their tail, so they were trying
as fast as they could to produceand push out the door new aircraft to
try to compete and keep up withair Bus, and that's what led to
the problems. And now we're havingthe same issue. We have a number
of ten or more whistleblowers, engineersand former employees from Boeing that have stepped

(03:42):
forward saying, look, we're nolonger about safety. According to them,
we're all about production, getting theairplanes out as fast as possible, and
we are simply taking too many shortcuts. Of course, two of those whistleblowers
are now dead. One from anapparent self inflicted gunshot wound, and we
know it was self inflicted because theyfound the gun in its hand. And

(04:05):
I've talked to many of my lawenforcement friends that say, Jay, we
investigate things like this all the time, and rarely do we find the gun
in the hand of the individual whotook their life. It's normally nearby.
Then we had another very healthy whistleblowerthat but mid forties died of a mysterious
health condition, and both represented bythe same attorneys. So I'm not saying

(04:27):
anything's ongoing here, but i amsaying right now Boeing is being forced by
the FAA to slow down, andthey're under another audit right now from the
FAA. In fact, they announcedthis week they're coming into the Dreamliner seven
eighty seven production plant and they arein essence going to audit that because they
said, we have concerns over employeesfalsifying safety quality control inspection reports. Oh

(04:55):
yeah, that's just what we wantto hear. So as a result,
Boeing's delivering these airplanes much slower toairlines. And again, apologies for the
long answer, but what that meansis United American Southwest Delta are not getting
the airplanes that they expected this year. I think Southwest might get twenty of
their near fifty airplanes, which meansthey're gonna have to throttle back on their

(05:16):
summer travel schedule because they're not gonnahave enough airplanes to keep up. Southwest
has announcer are cutting pilot hours basedon fewer than expected aircraft, and I'm
sure that's going to make some unhappypilots. I mean, you're cutting my
hours, you're cutting my income. It's not a good situation all the way
around. And United had to dothe same thing. They told their pilots,

(05:38):
Look, we don't have enough airplanesto keep all of you flying,
so we're asking who would like totake time off in May. They're looking
at probably doing the same thing inJune and probably through the summer because they're
trying to do what they can. You've got a low cost carrier like Spirit,
though you'd think that they would beperfect because they're nothing but Airbus airplanes.
Sadly for Spirit, though, theywe have Pratt and Whitney engines and

(06:01):
some of those are going through someissues where Spirit is being forced to take
out I think thirty or forty ofthese airplanes out of their service this year
and up to seventy next year asthey fight through these power plant or engine
issues on their aircraft. They've gotthe right aircraft manufacturer, but the wrong
engine on there is really creating someheadaches from them. So from one end

(06:23):
of the spectrum to the other,we've got another round of challenges for the
airline industry unlike what we've seen before, and it's unfortunately affecting a lot of
passengers. Because Southwest last year knewthey were having X amount of new planes
that were going to be hitting theshelf so to speak, for them to
use this year, So last summer, last fall, last winter, this

(06:44):
winter, they started selling segments, routes, schedules online for people that were
going to be able to take advantageof all of this extra seats that they
were going to have. Well, obviously, when those airplanes are not going
to be delivered, they have tostop that and then go to those people
saying, I'm sorry, we haveto cancel this flight because we're not going
to be able to operate it becausewe don't have the airplane. Boeing is

(07:05):
costing the airline industry hundreds and hundredsof millions of dollars in lost revenue,
and for many airlines they're going tobe looking to Boeing to make that up.
Wow, it's going to be We'regoing to have the reinvention of trailways
in Greyhound here before long gets that'sthe airline industry. Yep, we'll be

(07:25):
talking about that this. If Iwere on the FM side of the hall,
I would make a joke about thisnext story. But I'm not going
to man in Miami says I gota snake in my pants. But the
TSA, yeah, the firmers aremaking a joke about that. I'm going
to let you just tell the story. Well, I appreciate that, especially
with the last few days that I'vehad on this particular story. But the

(07:46):
yeah, man in Miami, Floridawas trying to smuggle through the TSA security
checkpoint to exotic snake small ones. They might have been four or five six
inches or so in length, andthey were white in color. And forgive
me, I forget the type ofsnake it was, but the pouchs that
you would normally use for like sunglasses. He drops the two in there and
tightens it up and tries to hideit in his pants. Well, the

(08:07):
TSA checkpoint finds out about it,and he's detained, the arrested. And
we have probably every week a storythat comes across my desk of somewhere in
the world where somebody's trying to smuggleexotic animals. Most often they're caught,
I mean reports of somebody trying tosmuggle fifty sea turtles through in their check
luggage. You don't think the securityteam is going to notice fifty baby sea

(08:31):
turtles in your luggage. But thosetypes of things have happened, continue to
happen, and fortunately, most ofthe time these individuals are apprehended, the
animals are turned over to the Customsand Border team where they can make sure
that the animals get to wherever theyneed to safely and those kinds of things.
But you know, a lot ofpeople sometimes are getting packages they aren't

(08:52):
even told what's in them, andthey try to get it to the security
checkpoint more often than not or caught. I'm going to leave alone over there,
that thing the pants four five sixinches. I'm glad they caught the
guy, the exotic animal. Everybody'ssafe. I'm just I'm happy to hear
that. At the FM or andme. I started out in country music
and classic rock, so I'm justgonna leave it alone right there. I
am proud of you, my friend. I am proud of the restraint.

(09:13):
I think the Good Book says oneof the fruits of the spirit is self
controlled, and I'm going to exhibitas much of that as i can right
now. And a few words youare. I'm sure the inner junior high
boy in me, the inner middleschool boy, has got a few jokes
I'd like to make, but I'mnot going to yours. Let's go to
another story. This is about seatswapping on an airline. Go ahead,
you know, you and I talkabout people to get on board an airplane

(09:35):
and they didn't seat themselves together,so they taped somebody on the shoulder and
say, yes, would you giveup your you know, your premium seat,
your middle seat or your window seatso I can sit with my family
and you can sit, you know, fifteen rows back in the middle seat.
And we get aggravated in those kindsof stories. Well, this is
another one that has a slightly differenttwist. Virgin Atlantic from London to New

(09:58):
York. It's about an eight hourflight. Passengers are in the area preparing
to board, and a man strikesup a conversation with a lady who's eighty
eight years old. She's a retirednurse and she's on her way to see
her daughter in New York. Arecent knee replacement kepper from going for the
longest time. She could not waitto make that trip. They bored the
airplane, and this young man,he had to be in his early twenties,

(10:22):
goes and finds this woman back incoach and brings her up to his
first class premium seat and sets herdown and says, you and I are
going to trade seats. This isone of those pods, you know,
that kind of surround you. Theychuck you in for you know, when
you're getting regular to sleep, Theybring you food constant. It's onreal.
And then this guy goes back andsits in her seat, which was right

(10:43):
next to the laboratory and coach, and simply swaps to try to give this
woman a taste of flying first class. The flight attendants went nuts over this
guy. He didn't want any extraattention, but gave up his seat for
this woe. The story went viralfor all all the right kinds of reasons.
And the flight attendant said, inall of our years of flying,

(11:05):
this is one of our favorite storiesbecause forget the athletes, the actors,
all the people we have to dealwith. This is our most important passenger
we've ever had because of what hedid. Well, I hope he got
have to give him extra miles orsomething. I don't know, maybe an
extra bag of pretzels package. Thisguy probably turned it down. And all
it tells me and you can relateto this, is he had a very

(11:26):
good raising by his parents because justa great kid. YEA, all right,
real quick. We talked about misbehavioron airplanes oftentimes, and the FAA
can give you a fine. You'vesent me the story of guy that actually
is going to write a check Iguess to United Airlines because he caused him
a problem. He's lying United Londonto New York to Newark and he starts

(11:50):
acting up on the plane, getsinto a fight with his girlfriend. Flight
tents tell him to keep it down. He is unwilling to do so.
It escalates to the point the captainsays, we're going to divert this airplane
to Banger Main and get these twoindividuals off the plane. And they did
plane continues onto Newark's, New Jerseyand lands well. Then United is sending

(12:11):
this guy a bill saying, oh, by the way, that unscheduled diversion
that you caused us cost us twentysix and twenty eight dollars and we're asking,
or we're telling you, you're goingto reimburse us for it. Now,
I'm sure the FAA probably threw intheir own fine. They're never going
to fly United Airlines again. Butthis is the poster child that I want

(12:31):
in every TSA checkpoint all over thecountry. I want his picture the twenty
thousand dollars fine underneath it, orthe reimbursement in his name, in every
security checkpoint four hundred and some ofthem across the country, and every single
time somebody's required to do this,I want their picture on the wall so
that as people are preparing to bescreened, they can look up and say,
wow, you know there are consequencesfor acting up on board an airplane.

(12:54):
Maybe I better behave or at leastour wives will elbow us and say,
don't you dare be that guide becauseI think you're not that that'll be
a deterrent, because when alcohol isinvolved, you throw all that stuff out
the window. But I'd like itto be a reminder that, yeah,
there are some very serious consequences. We've seen these things up to forty thousand
dollars before. So yeah, pleasebehave on an airplane, everybody, behave,

(13:16):
Jay rat with my guests. You'reheading into a Mother's Day weekend,
some people traveling in and about,in and around the country. What does
it look like today? Ugly?Ugly, ugly. We only have the
Chicago and Atlanta airports competing for delaysright now. A lot of bad weather
that's giving us headaches. And youknow, those are the two biggest airports
in the country and two of thebiggest airports in the world, both of

(13:39):
them fighting through some weather delays today. So if you're routed three of those
two hubs, anticipate some delays todayfor sure. And if you're catching a
flight, let's say in Denver that'scoming out of the Chicago Hobbit, may
be delayed, not because of anythingin Colorado, but it could be bit
delayed because of something getting out ofChicago. So it's going to be a
chain effect across America. J Ratliftdot com, jratlft dot com. Jay

(14:03):
it's a pleasure, sir. We'lltalk very very very soon. Aviation and
travel expert j ratlift dot Com.All right, ladies and gentlemen, how's
everybody doing out there? Jimmy ismy name? You don't what I get
to do after the show today.I'm gonna get to go up and I'm
going to hang out with doctor SeanVisker and the team at Trail Ridge Dental
today. That's on my docket.I look forward to it. Listen.

(14:24):
You know, looking forward to hangingout or seeing a dentist is not something
that usually is a in the vocabulary, but it should be because, first
of all, you need to likeyour dentists. You need to know that
you're going to get the best carepossible. You need to also know that
how important it is to get tothe dentist. A lot of times you
avoid it. You're paying for thedental insurance and it's coming out of your

(14:45):
paycheck, but you just don't wantto go to the dentist. Listen.
Heading into the summer season, maybethis could be a great time to get
your kids caught up and they're cleaning. I've been thinking about orthodonics for you
your kids that they can do that. Maybe got a big vacation plan,
you want to have a little bitof wider teeth. They can help you
that. Basically all of your dentalneeds or you your family, three years
of age, all the way through, however old you are. Yes,

(15:07):

house membership program that you can bea part of and that helps make some
of this dental care accessible to youthat you have maybe been avoiding it for
the wrong you've had stop Trail Ridgdentaldot com, Trail Ridge Dental dot Com,
Trail Ridgedental dot Com and again officein Longmont and in Johnstown, Trail

(15:50):
Ridge Dental dot Com. All right, lots of emails coming in. I'm
surprised how well I think. There'sso many questions around this Boulder shooting that
happened back in twenty twenty one atthe King Supers killing ten people, and
we still don't have any no justice. There's just nothing happening. And again

(16:11):
I'm not a mental health expert, but happened in twenty twenty one, and
they're still debating whether the guys clinicallyor legally insane or able to stand trial.
The shooter in questions they do asanity evaluation. How long does a
sanity evaluation take? They're doing theevaluation on Ahmaan al A, Lais Alisa

(16:32):
and some of you commenting on ifthe guy's name was Bob, would we
have heard about his name more often? I don't know. I don't know,
but there's just a lot of speculation. Why does this take so long?
Ten people die at the King Supersin Boulder, and for some reason,
the state of Colorado can't figure outor somebody can't the judge can't figure
out if this guy's nuts or not. Colorado now says he was insane at

(16:59):
the time of the attack. He'sgot some issues, but he was okay.
It still drags on, though I'llbe back. We'll talk more about
this in just a moment. NewsTalk six hundred k col
