Speaker 1 (00:01):
The volume. What is going on everybody, How are we
doing John Middlecoff three and our podcast. Hopefully everyone is
(00:22):
doing well out there in the real world in the streets.
And today we're gonna talk a little football because most
of these teams will be headed to summer break and
we'll be off for the next forty ish days before
we report to training camp. Get those pads popping, start
playing some real football that usually takes place for every
(00:43):
team right around early August. So I mean, we got
a full month and about twenty days, so we got
you know, probably fifty plus days till pads come on,
so we got a little while. Luckily I'm a content creator,
we will keep it flowing. But we're gonna talk a
little football today from Daniel Jones to Christian McCaffrey to
(01:03):
Bryce Young to do a big mail bag at John Middlecoff.
At John Middlecoff is the Instagram, you guys know the drill.
Subscribe to the three and Out podcast feed, Subscribe to
the YouTube feed. Obviously, if you listen on Collins feed,
make sure you subscribe to three and Out feed. Other
than that, appreciate everybody. It's going to be a grind.
This summer, but it's what we do. Baby can't wait.
(01:26):
But before we dive in to some football, you know,
I got to tell you a boy my friends, my
partners in the official ticketing app of this podcast, Game Time.
I had someone slide in my DMS today and said, middlecough,
is there anyway you get me some Pacers tickets? You
have some special code? I said, no, My code is
John J. Hhen and it's the best code I've ever had.
It's the code that I've had to use it before.
So we're all in the same wavelength. So if you want,
(01:49):
if you live in Indiana and want to go to
one of these games, I know finals games are really expensive.
You don't often get the NBA Finals, I think the
first time in twenty five years, obviously, Baseball games, football
games this fall, concerts, comedy shows, if you want to
get a pair of tickets, if you want to go
enjoy yourself, if you want to get out of the house,
you know, go sing some songs on a Thursday, Friday,
(02:10):
Saturday night with your favorite artist, watch them live. There's
nothing like live music, especially in the summer. Comedy shows
haven't been to one in a long long time, but
sometimes it's fun to just laugh, you know, smile, have
a few cocktails, and game Time has you covered. So
take the guest work out of buying tickets with game Time.
(02:31):
Download the game Time app, create an account Musico John
for twenty dollars off for his purchase terms of play. Again,
create an account and redeem the code Joagen for twenty
dollars off. Down the game Time app to day last
minute tickets. Lowest price is guaranteed. Kayle's dive. It is
in football, and as I mentioned, Sam Darnold was something
that we did not see coming. And I think you
(02:51):
could lump in Baker Mayfield as well. It wasn't that
long ago that those two guys were battling for a
starting spot. Carolina was got of Matt Rule got fired
in the middle of the season, and it looked like
both their careers were in shambles. I mean, hell, we
had spy Tech on a couple of weeks ago and
he discussed how when they signed him he was competing
(03:13):
for the job with Kyle Trask. Obviously, these last couple
of years, that conversation feels like a distant memory. But
it wasn't that long ago. It was two training camps
Ago and Sam Donald two years ago was I mean
technically signed to compete for the backup job. But when
he signed with the forty nine ers, he was a
backup quarterback. Now a couple of years later, Sam Donald
(03:35):
just threw thirty five touchdowns, just got fifty five sixty
million dollars guaranteed on a big contract. Baker Mayfield is
definitely a top ten quarterback in the NFL. Things change,
and things change fast. Like most human beings, you know
who year around, what organization philosophy that you are a
(03:58):
part of, the people you're working for, the people you're
working with have a huge impact on your success or failure.
And Baker Mayfield and Sam Donald are great examples of
Like Aaron Rodgers went to the Jets and was an embarrassment,
So you think Sam Donald's gonna overcome that. I mean,
Baker Mayfield went to the Cleveland Browns, hell took them
to the playoffs, won a playoff game on the road,
(04:20):
and now look at their careers. Obviously, Baker in Tampa
with a good team, just rattle enough playoff appearances. Sam Donald,
you know, the last two games leave a bad taste
in your mouth. But no one's on throwing thirty five touchdowns,
and I just started thinking, like, is there a guy,
because it's going to happen again. Most teams are not
like the Ravens, Chiefs or Bills. There are a lot
(04:41):
of teams in shambles constantly. Every single year, five to
seven to eight coaches get fired. Why because it didn't
go well. Coordinators get fired all the time. Bad draft
picks happened, and dysfunction happens in the NFL, and young
players are caught up between them. A couple years ago,
I thought Brian Daball did one of the better coaching
(05:03):
jobs in recent memory. Took a team that wasn't that talented. Hell,
he won a playoff game, and for the majority of
his career, Daniel Jones I would say, it's been a laughingstock.
And obviously last year when he got an opportunity to play,
didn't look good, you know, coming off the injury. And
part of it was the off season with Joe Shane
(05:24):
us getting an inside look at their operation, and even
if you hadn't worked in the NFL, it was like
something seems off here. This can't These guys are just
discussing free agency a day before. It almost felt like
a reality television show that was scripted, but it was
scripted to make them look like idiots. And listen. Daniel
Jones didn't help himself. He didn't play well, and a
(05:48):
year later he is I think now, with Anthony Richardson's injury,
the starting quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, and I think
you could argue that this is the best spot he's
ever had. I think Brian dabol is a good coach,
but so Shane stiken who liked Dave Ball. Offensive minded guy.
But the difference between the Colts and the Giants is like,
this team has a good offensive line. He played with
(06:11):
Saquon the year that he was healthy, made the playoffs. Well,
they got Jonathan Taylor, they have a really good running game,
They got some weapons on offense. They just drafted a
tight end with their top fifteen pick. I saw headline
today Stikeen was like, God, this guy's a monster in practice.
So not saying it's going to happen. I haven't seen
(06:31):
anything that would make me bullish, But I never in
a million years a couple of years ago would have
said what Sam Darnld and Baker Mayfield would have turned
out to be and like those guys Baker number one pick,
Sam number three overall pick, Daniel Jones number six overall pick,
and his comp has always been We talked about it
earlier in the week, Alex Smith. If you would have
said Alex Smith the third or fourth year of his
(06:51):
career was going to go on to be a consistent
playoff quarterback and just one of the more well respected
guys in the NFL in two thousand and seven, in
two thousand and eight, two thousand and nine, you would
have been laughed at. People would have been like, you
don't know what you're talking about. And a decade later
he started for Andy Reid for like five six years
and they're going to the playoffs every single year. So
(07:13):
where you play the players around you and people believing
in you matters, right. Sam Darnold had Kyle Shanahan that went,
I believe in this guy. Then Kevin O'Connell's like, I
want a piece of that guy, and then this year
Mike McDonald, Kubiak and John Schneider were like I want
this guy. It's a powerful feeling. The Buccaneers clearly not
only rallied around the guy, but over the last couple
(07:35):
of years, they're like, we believe in you, Baker. You
are our guy, and that's a powerful thing. And when
Daniel Jones is announced as a starter I'm putting my
stake in the ground now. It shows like we not
only paid you fifteen million dollars to come here, but
we believe in you. And luckily the You know, part
of the reason that I like the forty nine ers
(07:56):
this year is because their schedule as a joke, and
a big reason for that is the division the AFC South,
Well that's who the Colts play. So listen, a lot
of stuff's going on with the Colts. When it comes
to the owner has now passed away, The Dodgers are
are in control. The GM hasn't had much success in
terms of making the playoffs consistently. Obviously, this Anthony Richardson
(08:17):
thing kind of hangs over their head. But like I
do think this is just a guy to watch to
resurrect his career. I mean, the best year of his career,
he threw fifteen touchdowns and he ran for seven, so
that's a total of twenty two touchdowns. Before last year,
the best year of Sam Darnald's career was he threw
for nineteen touchdowns and ran for two, so that's a
(08:39):
total of twenty one. Neither one of these guys had
lit the world on fire now. Sam Donald, to me,
is a more physically gifted player than Daniel. But I
do think I never, in a million years ago three years,
you know, back to the year the Eagles first made
the Super Bowl against the Chiefs would have believed in
Jalen Hurts. I didn't see it, but Shane Sichin did.
(09:01):
Why because he's a good coach, and he schemed it
and he made it happen. And obviously Jalen has gotten
much better since then. But coaching really matters in this league,
especially offensive coordinating, and when your head coach is the
play caller and is a quarterback guy, I just think
it's something to keep an eye on. Speaking of guys
(09:21):
resurrecting their career, last year was a disaster for McCaffrey.
Both of his achilles were not working correctly, and then
when he came back a couple games into it, as
he started kind of catching his legs, he tore his
knee and was out for the season. And obviously, the
forty nine ers at six and eleven were a complete
dumpster fire. But Kyle Shanahan said the other day, and
(09:45):
I know a lot of people that have been going
to these practices, Christian McCaffrey looks excellent. He's fully healthy,
he's full go. And Christian McCaffrey went healthy. Isn't just
arguably the forty nine ers best player, He's one of
the best players in the NFL. Two years ago he
ran for fifteen hundred yards, had fourteen touchdowns, caught sixty
seven balls. I think had another seven touchdowns. The guys
(10:07):
like Marshall Falker, Laedanian, Tomlinson and the forty nine ers
roster a ton of turnover, a lot of new faces.
But I know this, if they have a healthy Christian McCaffrey,
they're gonna be good. Why because he's a dominant player
and he's not just dependent on well there's nowhere to run. Okay,
call pass plays for me. I'm the best pass catching
(10:28):
running back in the NFL. Now older player. A lot
of wear and tear. Those injuries last year were pretty scary.
Not the knee injury, but like anytime you start getting
achilles soreness, and I remember last year, like we don't
know where it's coming from. Usually, at least historically with
players have been following this league pretty closely. When you
(10:48):
start getting that soreness, eventually it pops. It's almost like, ah,
we don't have much tread on the tire. Eventually you
got to replace the tires. And there's nothing you can
really do, and no one's going to just volunteer, like, yeah,
just just rip my achilles and give me the surgery,
because that's the only way to get the surgery. It
just has to rip. So either you do it on
your own or you go in and they rip it
for you. But I know this, if he is healthy,
(11:11):
the forty nine ers are going to be a problem.
And if he is healthy, he will immediately be one
of the better players in the NFL. Because we've talked
a lot about Shane Steichen and some of these other
coaches like he is the perfect player for Kyle Shanahan
and what they want to do. And one thing I
think that's going to be big on Kyle if he
truly is healthy leading into Week one is you can't
(11:32):
ride this guy like secretariat. This is not Penn State
with Saquon Barkley, right, I'm not trying to give this
guy every single snap, and Kyle really struggled with this.
He had a little Tom Thibodeaux when it came to
playing him. You know, the knock on Thibbs was he
just plays his starters. Well, It's like, well, his bench
kind of sucks. In the NFL, I don't care who
(11:54):
your backup running back is. He can take some snaps
and most teams backup running back is more than serviceable player.
Obviously there are better backups than others. But I would
say every number two running back in the league can
take multiple carries on a weekly basis, and Kyle really
struggled with that two years ago. And I do wonder
(12:15):
if that kind of caught up to McCaffrey. And I
think it has to be a point emphasis in twenty
twenty five because like his dad, like Mike, went through
a lot of running backs year after year after year,
and they all became stars, but then their bodies would
just fall apart. And Christian, of all these guys dating
back to like Terrell Davis, is probably the most talented.
(12:35):
And you have to do everything possible to keep this
guy on the field. So if he is healthy heading
into Week one, one. I think it's a major X
factor in the NFL, and I also think it's incumbent
on Kyle to I don't want to say, treat this
guy with kid gloves, but just be cognizant of like, okay,
like Christian doesn't need to get carries in a game
(12:56):
when you're up eighteen points with five minutes left in
the fourth, because that's what was happening in twenty twenty three,
And I can't imagine that that helped his health all
of twenty twenty four. Last, but not least, I was
out on this guy. I just thought you see him
in pads, you see him in an NFL uniform, and
(13:18):
you just say to yourself, this isn't gonna work. Obviously
a size, I mean, he's one of the smallest quarterbacks
of all time. Bryce Young at Carolina, but his play
was atrocious. I mean, he got bench two games into
the season his sophomore year at Carolina, and rightfully so.
He was unplayable. Like you could have been on the
best team in the NFL, you could have been on
(13:38):
one of the worst teams like he was. You'd have
no chance to win the way he was playing. But
sometimes like Young, people do need a breather, and clearly
for Bryce that breather worked. And then when Andy Dalton
got in the car accident, he came back, he was
a completely different guy. I looked this morning. Bryce Young
in about the middle of November till the end of
(14:00):
the season, through twelve touchdowns and three interceptions, and it's
not like they, you know, were beating the world down
with skill players. So in theory, his skill player group
will be improved this season. Obviously, they draft a wide
receiver from Arizona McMillan, the eighth pick overall pick. You
would expect Xavier Legett to be improved from last year,
(14:22):
and just overall the cohesion and the offense, you would
expect it to be more explosive. But it's pretty clear.
And I would say the older you get, I don't
want to say you are you know, you have an
easier time avoiding the ups and downs of life, but
you just have a little thicker skin. You're just a
(14:44):
little mentally tougher when you're young. Confidence, when you got it,
it feels like you're never going to lose it, and
when you lose it, it feels like, how am I going
to get this back, is it ever going to come back?
And Bryce looking this morning, I had forgotten. I knew
he was from LA but he replaced JT. Daniels at
modern day, which is like you know, depending at the
(15:05):
state in which you live in, I would say probably
the best football program currently in California. You could argue
fulsome and Sacramento it was Dayly sal forever, but it's
it's probably California's the version of like Alabama or the
Chiefs over the last decade plus, maybe even a little
bit longer. And JT. Daniels was a massive recruit, was
(15:26):
going to USC. Isn't a very good player in college,
but he was an elite college or a high school player.
Im and Ross Saint Brown was on that team. I'm
sure they had other NFL guys on the team as well,
and when he replaced them, they were dominant. I think
they went twenty six and two over his two years
as a starter. By his senior year, he's the high
school California Player of the Year, Gatorade Player of the Year.
(15:46):
Just a Camp Miss recruit, goes to Alabama and by
his second year he's winning the Heisman and leading them
to the national Championship and the SEC Championship game outplayed Georgia.
And if it wasn't for Jamison Williams and John Meshi
both getting injured, who knows, maybe they have a chance
to beat Georgia twice is like a month and he's
a national champion. And listen, I loved him in college
(16:08):
and I didn't think they were crazy for taking him
over CJ. Stroud. Now maybe I overestimated how small that
he would actually look. I'll never forget a buddy of
mine who was in the where they get weighed at
the combine, you know where they kind of stand their
skivvies and they hop on the on the scale and
they go two hundred and seventeen two hundred and five,
(16:28):
and he weighed in like two hundred pounds, And the
guy that was sitting there told me it looked like
he had to waddle off and went right to the
bathroom to either throw up or have it come out
the other way, because that was completely fake. This is
a guy that probably more naturally weighs one hundred and
eighty one hundred and eighty five pounds and he's barely
five to ten. So this is not a very big
(16:51):
player in a sport full of pretty big quarterbacks. Like
if you met Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Justin Herbert, I mean,
these guys are not small Summer a little taller than others. One,
you know, Mahomes might be shade under sixty three, Josh
might be six', Five lamar six,' two, you know but
THEY'RE all, i mean these guys are well put. Together
guys this is easily one of the smallest quarterbacks to.
(17:13):
Ever play but he hung his hat in the sec
when you watch, him play just a very, instinctive player
doesn't have the, biggest arm, but, accuracy. Timing rhythm guy's a.
Fucking ballplayer and the guy that we Saw for carolina's
like what is going on and reading. Some quotes there
was an ARTICLE on espn dot com Where jac horns
like you hear him talking now this, GUY like i
(17:34):
think his exact quote was he is talking way more,
this Year and canalis, mentioned this like his confidence and
leadership kind of. Comes out it's hard to be. A
leader it's hard to be vocal when one you don't
even believe, in, Yourself right so if you, don't know
you can play in. The league if you don't believe.
In yourself if your confidence, is gone it's hard to
just getting that huddle and kind of rally. The troops
(17:56):
it's easy When You're, Peyton Manning, tom brady, You Know.
Baker mayfield now some of, these guys Obviously, the Mahomes the,
lamar's like, of course but when you're suck just because
you're the number one, overall pick if you're not, playing
well like after, a while no. One CARES and i do.
Just wonder this is a guy going back to high
school and in college all he knew. Was success he didn't,
(18:16):
Just win they kicked the shit out. OF everybody, i
mean the only teams that could beat this team would
be like a team in the state championship or a
Team like georgia full of basically twenty two starters are IN,
the NFL and i would imagine most of those twenty
two guys are legitimate high end starters IN, the nfl
and if not high, end starters rotational players playing. On
(18:37):
teams so you're looking at a guy that all he knew,
was winning and all he knew was playing at a,
high level and then he comes to the league dysfunctional
plays and kind of, gets punked kind of. Gets Humbled
and i'm not even saying that he needed to. Be
humbled it's just a humbling experience when, you're like why
is this? Not WORKING so i Think that i'm excited
To Watch. BRYCE young i do think there is a
(18:58):
ceiling on a guy with those. Men bulls but if
this coach, is good canalis if they hit on McMillan,
From Arizona if laget becomes like a solid number two
and a, Versatile player i'm, Not again i'm using the
COMPARISON because i think you can move this guy around.
A lot give him the ball in, the Backfield a debo,
(19:19):
type player get the ball in, his hands let him get.
IN space i, mean hands aren't debos better hands than The,
leget ironically they're Both From. SOUTH carolina i think they're.
Actually BUDDIES but I think i'm not Gonna, pick carolina
probably to make, the playoffs probably do some. This summer
look at, the divisions and, you know maybe some sleeper
(19:39):
teams and some. Overrated TEAMS but i do think they
could be a lot more viable if THEY get i
don't Know If bryce young can become the thirteenth or
fourteenth best quarterback IN, The nfl like he's never gonna
be a top. FIVE quarterback i would probably bet against
him being a top ten quarterback in this. Upcoming season
but can he just be like a top half of the?
(20:02):
League guy and the guy that we saw down the
stretch was the top half of the. League guy and
that is a huge improvement for a guy that looked
like is he HEADED? The ufl are they gonna? Cut him,
BECAUSE honestly i, thought like you are you gonna cut?
This player are you gonna have to get rid of?
This guy and now, You're, like okay we got, something
(20:23):
there and that's that's a. Powerful THING The nba finals,

a lot, of mailbag actually a decent amount of. Questions
(23:21):
here we will just.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
Start with Patrick At john middlecoff is the Instagram At
John middlecoff instagram. Handle fire in, those dms my wife
asked ME who i THOUGHT THE nfl mvp. WOULD be
i like these conversations you guys. Are having she doesn't give,
a FUCK but i appreciate her asking my likely, MOST
likely i think it's Gonna. Be burrow if he has
a similar season to last year and they sneak into,
(23:44):
THE playoffs i think. It's his my sleeper pick Would Be.
Baker Mayfield the bucks retained invested in. Skill guys they
are in a, weak division so they play and they
PLAY The, Afc east so, on paper a. Cakewalk schedule
did LOSE, his oc, but hey that's why it's called a.
Sleeper pick who would your sleeper pick be this? UPCOMING
(24:07):
year i, do think like not that there's, voter fatigue.
YOU know i think that happened IN the Nba with
joker and you kind of look for a. New guy,
YOU know i think people would love to vote for
someone Not name josh Now that josh, Has Won josh
Lamar or patrick in kind of incorporating. SOMEONE else I
(24:28):
Think jalen hurts would have some momentum if he were to,
put up, you know throw twenty five touchdowns and run for.
Another ten, who knows maybe he'd get more Because the
tush push is still alive And the eagles win a bunch.
Of GAMES so i think they would be, a team
or he would be, a guy a little bit of.
A sleeper i haven't looked AT the. Mvp odds i'll.
(24:48):
DO shit i gotta do that, this summer keep it.
Content flowing but some of the guys IN, the nfc,
you know the forty nine er schedule is. A joke
What if perty throws thirty? Five touchdowns what if he
has a Year Like sam darnold and they win eleven.
Twelve games, You Know jared goff is a guy the new.
Offensive coordinator if he puts up a, huge year, you
(25:11):
know thirty five thirty eight touchdowns with a new, OFFENSIVE coordinator,
i Think, LIKE baker, i mean they're gonna. Be good
they have a. Stacked ROSTER so i think you kind
of look AT the nfc just because of. Voter fatigue
now at, any moment, you know Josh or lamar could
have huge. STATISTICAL years i mean they are gonna have.
(25:32):
Good years herbert's a guy that could have a. Better
year BUT ultimately i saw harbaughn with, McAfee's like we
want to run. The Ball jim harbaugh is a, Former
quarterback yet when he talks offensive line in the RUNNING game,
eli has he goes from six to midnight, really quick
and he's already talking. All beck then, he's like we're
just gonna run it right all. The time he's not,
(25:52):
even lying like he's telling. The truth he's gonna run
it right all. The Time fellow mustang. A lump that'd
Be The Cal. PAUL mustangs i was thinking back on
my playing days a few, nights ago and the memory
of a team coming out in the swinging gate formation.
Popped up it made me think Of the cowboys rolling
Out with zeke at center with the game on the
line a few. Years, ago yeah that was a. Tough
(26:16):
one was That the niners? Playoff, game no THAT was
i think the game in it with dak That was
was That a niners regular? SEASON game i swear they
were Playing the niners in. That game what are some
of the craziest formations play calls that made YOU? Go
wtf i've been watching a ton of film From Rookie
tray harris to the Of, the bolts and he has
(26:37):
a lot, of Talent Like Brian. THOMAS junior i see
Him in ladd becoming a top five wide. Receiver Duo
the bengals Won the, eagles Two the vikings three and
four and five are open for. The taking deebo, AND
McLaurin Btj. And hunter any other competition You See, Bengals. Eagles.
(26:58):
VIKINGS uh I Think poka Nakou And DeVante adams could
be pretty. Freaking good i'd keep an eye on, those two.
YOU know i, would say whoever's With? THE bucks I
Mean mike evans and what's? His name they just Drafted From.
Ohio State, assuming godwin, you know comes. BACK healthy i
(27:22):
do have to think. About that.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
What was?
Speaker 1 (27:25):
Your question? The formations, YOU know i think sometimes it's
human nature paralysis, by ANALYSIS and i think some of
these coaches spend so much time in the office it
just can't. Be healthy it really can't for most of these.
Guys too they're not dynamic enough thinkers and innovators where
(27:48):
it's actually helping. Them out and it's how you come
up with a play. LIKE that, i mean that's that's.
Pretty embarrassing that's. A formation And then Zeke Did fred
warner like run. Them over it was Against. THE niners
I Think fred warner killed, HIM literally i mean just
like elevated him In the it, was unfair like what
was he supposed? To do Remember When joe judge called
(28:12):
was it third to nine quarterback sneak up? The middle that? Was,
ROUGH yeah i mean, Sometimes LISTEN i'm i have a
problem like short. Yarded situations Like, THE chiefs i, get
it they don't like doing quarterback Sneaks with MAHOMES after
(28:33):
i forget what year. Had happened but when his knee
got dislocated like that would scare. Me too, It's like,
i'm sorry we just can't run. This play and some
teams like, you know Me. And cliff i'm not ACTING
like i know more Football Than, cliff kingsbury but, LIKE
philosophically i do not believe short yarded situations in. The shotgun, i'm,
(28:54):
Sorry like i'm never gonna get. Behind that, call me
you know some archaicpa from they grew up on, Nineties
football but Like The, chip Kelly's The cliff kingsbury's that
want to go gun runs on short Yarded, Stuff like
i'm just not a supporter. Of. THAT now i do
understand when you have a mobile quarterback if the gun
(29:16):
run can get him on. The RUN but i think
some of, these plays, Like Listen josh allen gets stuffed
on those short yardage plays in, The playoffs, like there
guy's just beating, Our guy like what are we supposed?
To DO but i think some of these plays is
just kind. Of outrageous but that's, part of, you know
the transition of college football INFILTRATING, the nfl which has.
(29:39):
Definitely happened when a team finds, a player say one hundred,
thousand dollars does that money go back into the salary
cap or right into the? Owner's pocket it goes? To,
CHERRY now i don't know if the league or. The
team you'd have to ask like the cap OR the
gm type guy that knows specifically how the funnel of,
(30:00):
money works but the owner doesn't, keep it it just
gets it just GOES to i think the league's charity
charity of the. Nflpa's choice i'm not, exactly SURE but
i know if like they FIND. Whoever tj watt doesn't
show up to mandatory mini camp and he gets some
fined one hundred, grand Total the roonies don't pocket. That
(30:21):
money i'm not exactly sure how that impacts. The, CAP
clearly i don't think it has a, big impact if
any good question some, of these like money details WITH,
The nfl i'm not quite. Confident on, YOU know i
know when you hit. Incentive bonuses so let's say a
(30:42):
team has six Million dollars i'm. Just picking or let's
pick five million dollars of incentive bonuses at the end of,
the year, playing, time touchdowns you. Name it i'm pretty
sure that number rolls over to the following year's. Salary
cap but we'd have to get Like a Howie or
parrague on the phone to nail. That down but obviously
(31:04):
some of these teams wouldn't have the amount of money
on their cap to be able to, fulfill THAT and
i think it. Rolls, over john you recently had the
idea of podcasters, becoming commentators and it was brought up on.
The show would you ever? CONSIDER it i think you
could be good at it because of. Your, Authenticity Also
anthony richardson has, hurt again is his. CAREER over i
(31:28):
tried play by play ONCE when i was At. CAL
pauly i did the internet our, baseball team which actually
made it to the first round Of The College. World
series well one of. The regionals we won, a game
we knocked out organ no, big deal and it was,
really HARD and, i said play by place definitely not.
FOR me i, would say as my career has gone
(31:49):
down the path Of what i'm, Doing now I've really
i'm not a. Corporate guy that's not. My strength i'm
just it wouldn't work out. FOR me i also think
you can't be like the WAY that i am on.
A GAME so i, would say in a long way
of around about way, OF saying i have. No interest
(32:10):
it's not something that interests me. At all it's a
hard Profession and i'm probably unfairly critical at TIMES because
i understand how difficult it can be for, these guys
but it's not that it's even an option. FOR me i,
have zero literally. ZERO interest i would say his career is,
(32:32):
not over but it's trending Over in indianapolis. FOR sure
i heard You and colin Talking about shador and how
he doesn't have a big arm to thrive in cold.
WEATHER situations i haven't looked at it. At all but
does your analysis change since he Went to colorado and
played in a lot of colder. Weather, games well i'd
(32:55):
have to break down how many quote unquote cold weather
games they PLAYED in, i mean how many games they
actually Play. IN november i would say it's a lot
Colder in Cleveland, and baltimore But, specifically cleveland especially when
you factor in, the Wind, Than. Boulder colorado but it
doesn't change, the fact like his arm RELATIVE to nfl standards.
(33:18):
Is average that's not. A shot, i mean it's just that's, a,
Fact Right greg maddox for ninety one miles. An, Hour
right no one Says Like greg maddox has a, great
fastball he doesn't throw at that ord now he can.
Locate it and It's why i'm a big believer of
like strong arm guys in cold. Weather cities and if
you look at at least in Like the, internet era
(33:39):
most most of the guys that have played in cold,
weather places especially In, the northeast have had big arms that.
Had success brady's the best Example In, new england But
from donovan McNabb To eli manning To Obviously joe flacco
for a long Time. In, Baltimore, now lamar You know
burrow doesn't have a. GREAT arm i, would say relative
(34:02):
To Like josh allen and some of these Guys, and
herbert but it's, Good enough like his arm is good enough.
To function i'm just saying it's it's not ideal when
you're playing in that type, weather situation but relative to,
the guy like he has a better Arm Than, DYLAN
gabriel i, would say do you think drafting philosophies can
(34:24):
change really drastically with certain positions based on their success
or failures with that position in? Previous years, for Example
the Chiefs Drafted Clyde edwards hilaire in the. First round
however since then they've drafted running backs in the, Seventh
Round isaiah Pachaco And. BOSHARD smith i, think sometimes, you
(34:47):
Know the chiefs pretty sure they just Won The, super,
Bowl right so in twenty nineteen they Win The super
bowl for the FIRST time, i mean it's a, big
moment and, you know you just you probably take a
player that, looking back, you go what were we? Doing?
There now clyde was a pretty elite PLAYER at lsu
(35:08):
the year they won the. NATIONAL championship i would say
when YOU think lsu, Twenty Nineteen joe burrow is the
first guy you. Think About, Ed Ojeron, jamar Chase And
justin jefferson are the next group of guys you. Think
about clyde pretty underrated player on. That, team also if
you go Back to, andy's history he had a lot
(35:28):
of success with pass catching or versatile Running, Backs, Westbrook Shady.
Jamal charles when he Got To, KANSAS city i think
they Looked at clyde like a guy that could be.
Really versatile and when you're drafting, thirty second you don't
have a pick till the end of the. Second round
so ideally you take a, running back, You know shady
McCoy second, round pick but, you're like all the good
(35:50):
running backs might, Be gone so it's a little bit
of kind of a. Luxury SELECTION but i will defend
teams when you it's hard to pick at the end
of the, First round like the teams that suck three
years in. A row, like you if you have three
straight top, ten picks you better hit at minimum on
two of the three. Of them as Being Like, pro
(36:12):
bowl all, pro guys it's hard For the chiefs. TO
draft i mean they're In The super bowl. Every year
that means you're getting the worst pick in every, Round
NOW and i think looking back on, THAT situation i
thought he was gonna be a good. PLAYER too, I
mean i like most people that WATCH that, LSU team
i thought he was, fucking good especially in this MODERN
day nfl of, like now was it a little bit
(36:34):
of an overdraft, Of course BUT he's i mean. DISASTER
obviously i think there's off the field stuff, with mentally
he's all over struggled. With shit but he's just not
a very. Good. PLAYER yeah I mean i would say
that your, previous experiences whether, it's drafting whether, it's dating
whether it's, in business definitely impact the way you think.
(36:54):
About THINGS and i also think when it's specifically a,
running back like if you miss on an offense, of
lineman you're not going to be more or less inclined
to take or pass on an offensive lineman the. Next
year you can take offensive lineman every single year in the.
First round right running back is a position where you
go a couple. Years later We got pachaco in the, Seventh,
rounds like what are? We doing why don't we just
(37:15):
take guys on the third day at? That POSITION so
i think it's probably more.
Speaker 3 (37:19):
Position Specific blending vice's signature dynamic storytelling with the high
octane world, Of Sports vice sports brings an exciting and
diverse range of programming that goes beyond, the game catch
action packed, live events and exclusive sports documentaries and profiles
Only ON.
Speaker 1 (37:36):
Vice tv heard you mentioned crazy Owners with colin as
far as them getting involved in football in which they know.
Nothing about tepper is known. For, this however McAfee on
a show showed a Clip of tepper in the draft
room but not saying, a word and it appeared as
if he was given his front office people. Free reign
(37:56):
do you think he's learned from his disasters early on
to try and step back OR am i overvaluing a thirty.
SECOND clip i didn't see that, specific CLIP but i
did see some clips of him just right. BETWEEN everybody i, get,
it LIKE if i owned, A team i'd be sitting
next TO the gm and. Coach too it is kind,
(38:17):
of intimidating Especially for it's one thing if you Got
Like aussy Newsom Or eric DaCosta Or mike tomlin or
some of these guys That The, hardbob brothers they've been around.
For andy if you're relatively new at the job and
the owners of standing there looking at you and you
know he's worth billions, OF dollars, i mean it's, just.
SLOW intimidating, i mean it's like most, human beings if you're,
(38:41):
the boss don't just hover over whoever in the biggest
moment of. Their year but that's the nature of, the
draft even if you don't. Say Anything jimmy haslam was
doing the. Same stuff he was sitting right behind those.
Two guys, It's, like jimmy can you give this guy
a little air? To, BREATHE yeah i mean part of
(39:01):
his personality is, he's aggressive. HE'S involved i think there's
just a fine line of wanting to be involved and
telling people who to pick and where that line starts.
And ends it's impossible. To QUANTIFY and i would imagine
when you talk to gms and you talk to coaches
(39:21):
that are with, successful teams you either have it or.
You don't, You know i'm tired of People. Disrespecting herbert
he Won the rookie Of the Year With anthony lynn ass,
head coach and through five thousand Yards with Brandon freaking
stately in his first, Three years herbert proved he could
be the quarterback of a high. Flying offense in his
first Year, with harbaugh he only threw three picks and
(39:44):
led the team to, eleven wins all while having a
bottom ten rushing attack in the lowest paid wide out
room in. The league he Made Fucking will disley look
like a serviceable receiving. Tight end do you Think The
super bowl Is for herbert And the chargers in the next?
FIVE years i think MVPs And. Super bowls I'm a,
(40:07):
charger Fan so. I'M biased I would i would Remove
the s's MVPs And. Super BOWLS but i don't think
it's outrageous to say he can WIN an mvp And
the Chargers With jim harbaugh can't compete for slash Win
The super bowl over the course of the next. FIVE
years i think that is. Realistic, expectations obviously the way
(40:32):
more important thing Is The. Super bowl WINNING The, afc
west WINNING, the afc winning. Playoff games but if you're,
doing that you're probably, really good and that means he's
really good for. The MAILBAG so i think the expectation
should be sky. FUCKING high, i mean if, you know
(40:53):
his playoff resumes, pretty ugly so for him to be
considered in the group in which the gms and coaches,
consider him he's just gonna need some. Bigger MOMENTS and I.
SAW jim, I mean harbaugh is a. Trip MAN he
i think he got a, hip surgery he had. Heart surgery,
(41:14):
he uh he definitely when you see pictures or see him,
talk now has been someone that's followed his career since
he definitely started Coaching At. San diego he looks, older
now he looks much skinnier than he did when he
was Coaching. The niners looks like he's in, good shape
but he's a. Weathered sob and, UH yeah i mean
(41:36):
this is if not, now WHEN but i think they.
Opened up they open up With. The chiefs then they Played,
the raiders and they Played. The broncos well know pretty
early likes this team. FOR real i completely disagree with
your hatred toward hard knocks, it's football and, before football
it's something to watch to get your. Rocks off before the.
(41:58):
Actual season you usually let you see some. Cool, players
also why don't you like? It Anymore because i'm comparing
it to what it used to be and there was
such like a. Raw inside you'd never seen anything. Like
it the first several years of, YOU know i guess
it would have been two thousand or two thousand. And
(42:18):
one those first five or six years were like you
would Get these the behind the curtain coaches meetings was
the best part of. Hard knocks you'd go around the
table the coaches and the gms and the executives would
talk about, the players and it, was like this. IS
incredible i remember it inspired ME like i want to
be in that room. One DAY and i remember the
(42:39):
FIRST time i got to be in that Room at
lehigh during training camp For, the eagles THINKING like i fucking.
MADE it i remember being a big DEAL when i
Got To president state and got to be in those
rooms talking about the roster and you just don't really get,
that ANYMORE which, i UNDERSTAND like i get it from the,
team's perspective it's not worth it to have the wide
receiver coach shit and on the third, round pick it's just.
(43:02):
SOCIAL media, i mean After, the Giants the giants hard knocks.
THE offseason i don't know if you would agree with me,
or not but for, my money it's the best hard
knocks in. Fifteen years regular season, hard knocks preseason. Hard
knocks it's the best thing that's come out and most
(43:23):
real thing that we've seen in a. Long time and
it's why that it was like universally like this. Is
insane we no longer get that in hard knocks like this.
Is insane it feels like it feels like a, propaganda
PIECE which i understand from the, team's PERSPECTIVE but I
just i just don't think it's. Very good I'm an,
(43:44):
eagles Fan so i'm. Clearly biased with, that said it
seems to Me that hurts is among the most polarizing
figures in. The league talking heads will state that he's
a below average quarterback to fill airtime and, ruffle Feathers
whereas eagles fans, myself included will say he's the second Coming. Of,
christ hi, YOU guys, i mean let's the last, two
(44:05):
games most important games of. His career. He dominated there
was times in the middle of the season where you
guys were shitting. On him, come on where do you
THINK the nfl gms would place him objectively in a?
Quarterback ranking he clearly. Has strengths he's vastly Improved since kelsey's,
were departure making crucial audibles during the playoffs that lead to,
(44:25):
explosive plays excellent, deep ball but can struggle over, the
middle and doesn't have quote unquote zip that a Guy like,
herbert has but does have, great touch not to mention
his strength is a. Tangible, asset clearly what are your
thoughts on HOW AN nfl gm may assess him in
relation to the. Other, starters okay let's just do a
little off the top of the. Head DRAFT so i
(44:54):
guess we got a factor, in age because if we
didn't factor, In age stafford would go a lot higher
than he would if it's just just a free. For
all so if, we go the top three guys in
some order are going To, Be Mahomes, Josh Allen, LAMAR
jackson I Think justin Herbert And. JOE burrow I guess
(45:16):
burrow could go in some order. As well with, those
THREE and i Would say herbert would be the fifth more,
Than likely so that would be the. Top FIVE then
i think there's a group of Guys where jalen would be.
INVOLVED in I Think. Jayden, daniels again it's only, one
season he would go. Really high. YOU know I think
(45:41):
jalen's Advantage. Over goff if you knew your offensive line,
was awesome you'd feel pretty Comfortable With. Jared goff but
if you didn't know, Your team jalen gives you a little.
MORE versatility i, Would Say, jordan love you Would take jalen.
(46:02):
Over him but there would be some coaches that, WERE
like i can make, It Happen. BAKER mayfield i mean
it just it also depends on what type offense you want, to,
Run right there are gonna be some coaches Like the
shanahan guys might Not Love jalen hurts the way that
they want to. Play offense and then some of the
(46:24):
more innovative like any guy That Coach, lamar jackson You
Know arthur smith that likes a, running quarterback, You know Brian,
day Ball The, Cliff Kingsbury chip, kelly types they Would
like jalen probably a lot. MORE so i also think
it's very, scheme, Dependent Right Like ben johnson would, BE
(46:48):
like i. Can coach give Me. BROCK purty i can
win games, with him, you know to get rid of the.
Ball FAST so i think we have to factor. That
in this isn't basketball where it's, like wait you would take,
you know it's pretty clear the top, guys right because
it doesn't matter what plays. You run you just give
him the ball and let. Him cook like what's? YOUR
(47:09):
offense i don't care Give. Me yannis, you know in football,
the offense how you play the, player strengths especially with
this group, of, quarterbacks matter so there are certain, you
Know Like kyle shanahan would Not Like, jalen Hurts But shane.
Sychin WOULD so i think who's calling the plays really
really matter in. That scenario and you could argue that
(47:32):
his ability to be comfortable in the pocket is something
that can improve over time because he's got a lot
of other stuff Going for he can keep. Plays alive
he's a. Good playmaker he obviously when he, chooses to
is a. Great runner he has excellent touch on the.
Deep ball, you know he's got some similar Game To
(47:54):
russell Wilson when russell Was with seattle when he. Was
young but, personnel wise it feels like People like jalen.
More Internally then russell started driving those. Guys, nuts anyways
john quick question for. The pod if you're, reading this,
excluding quarterback what position in football or really any sport
(48:15):
would you like to be the absolute best in the
World at my BUDDIES and i had talked about this
for years and my answer. NEVER changes I Choose. Mike
tyson other friends Have Said randy johnson in, His Prime.
Phelps jordan my buddy, Even said ruth curious and love. Your,
thoughts sorry, Terrible question let me ask. Another One, UH
(48:36):
no I think i can. ANSWER that i think it
would be hard to beat. Being now if you're like
the best left tackle in football for a long period,
of time you're gonna go To the Hall. Of fame
that also means every single room that you. Walk into,
you know you Speak About, mike tyson who when's the
(48:56):
last time anyone looked At Like trent williams A Win
like i'm feeling a fuck with. That guy so you
literally could probably handle any guy in any room you.
Walk in you are physically dominant at, your sport and
because of the position, you pay you're one of the
highest paid guys in, The league so you could argue
being the best left tackle or best. Defensive, lineman again
(49:19):
lots out of. YOUR control i want the team to,
be good, you know the, boxing thing or so you're
going back To Be babe ruth like in. THE twenties
i wouldn't want to live in. The twenties and while
it'd be cool to be a sweet, heavyweight fighter, you
know boxing is not as popular now and EVEN the,
ufc guys it feels like they come and they go.
(49:42):
PRETTY quick i mean that dude that Lived, in scottsdale
the dude with the, Purple Hair, sugar sean is like
his career. ALREADY over, i thought like a year ago
he was the, next star and now it feels like
he can't win. A FIGHT so i think fighting could be.
PRETTY fickle i think the answer would be probably just in,
His Prime. Michael jordan that'd be hard. To beat But
(50:03):
Like michael jordan couldn't physically beat up every. Single, PERSON
oh I mean michael six' six's beating. Up Most people
because i'd want. Like normal interaction if anything ever, did
pop off everyone would look AT me like i want
that guy. On my side question. For the pod what's
your TAKE On The usc notre dame potential cancelation would
(50:25):
be a real shame if A guy like lincoln gets
some authority to cancel the game when he probably won't
be there at the end. OF the YEAR i read
i almost had an article that would have been a,
little too strong maybe a tweet that one of the
big boosters or some of the BIG boosters from usc
essentially said we will cut you off if this, game
(50:47):
DOESN'T continue and, i, WAS like damn. I appreciate that
i was really anti AND embarrassed for usc last YEAR for.
The lsu, game, it's like guys this. Is college football
you're trying to get out. Of THIS game And I
gave brian kelly a, lot, of, credit, like no guys we're.
Playing the game you're not going to. Cancel the game
we refuse to. Cancel the, game this one there's. A
(51:09):
little more there's more. VARIABLES at play usc is, in
a conference so, every single year on, most given years
they're gonna have. A tough, Schedule Last year notre dame schedule.
Was a joke this year it's actually. Kind of hard,
but you know depending, on the year they just created.
That From SCRATCH besides stanford usc a couple. Like consistent
(51:32):
games there might be years. WHERE it's hard i think
this Year They're PLAYING miami texas a and m they
got they got some real games, on the schedule and
then there are years where it's like they're playing a
bunch OF nobodies where usc, EVERY single, YEAR i know
i got nine conference Opponents In, the big ten and
more than likely there's gonna Be Some, Oregons Penn, State's, Ohio,
STATES michigan's like i can't really, avoid these teams, so
(51:54):
you go you have this independent schedule and we have
this kind of set in stone nine games. Every single
year so it's not an apples the apples thing where
they were clearly trying to push their way OUT of,
the lsu game which ironically they. End up winning but,
IN this situation i do kind. Of Get it but.
(52:15):
I'm with You If, it's nick Saban If, it's kirby
Smart If it's pete carroll, in his, heyday, IT'S like
listen i, don't NECESSARILY agree but i ride, With this
dude like You're gonna let lincoln dictate, The terms here i'm,
With YOU there like i would not cancel the game
for anyone that's IN Charge of usc athletics slash. Football
(52:39):
RIGHT now but i do get some. Elements of it
it is understandable, why they go what's the? Point of this?
What this is they need this game more than we.
Need this game but and this is. Part of it
(53:00):
this is the issue with THE in, the i. Mean
it's inevitable college football is blown up and it's become
easily the second Biggest, sport in america and financially it
just keeps getting. Bigger and bigger with the good right,
paying the players you have these incredible matchups become some,
(53:22):
of these, situations it's like? Are we serious are honestly we?
Serious doing this and do we have to acknowledge are
we headed to a Time, When Like, Florida, Florida State,
CLEMSON South Carolina, usc notre dame these games are just not.
GOING to Exist, I Mean, Oregon, Oregon State. WASHINGTON washington
(53:44):
state i got. News for you there's a chance that
game is not played in, five ten, years which sucks
but It happened With texas and texa and m there.
For a while how Would You rate josh allen in
terms of all quarterbacks you have watched, over the years
based off, pure physical talent Not necessarily super. Bowls or
awards do you think he is more physically gifted Than,
(54:04):
His contemporaries Mahomes, Lamar, or herbert WELL he's got i
would say he's got the best arm, of that group
which is Pretty unreal Because herbert and. Mahomes, Have cannons.
Obviously Lamar's faster but josh is. A special runner i
would say he's on. THE short, list I mean when
(54:24):
i think of like great physical, freaks at quarterback, you
would say because part Of what makes josh. SPECIAL is,
size i mean what is he sixt' Five two forty
at the combine when he was Coming out of wyoming
he was sixty five. TWO thirty, SEVEN i mean i
(54:48):
would guess he's six five two fifty. Now rocked up
maybe in the off season he slims down. A little,
bit i mean he's a fucking. MASSIVE human being I
Would Say Cam newton ben roethlisberger would be on the
short list of greatest specimens of. My adult Life cam
(55:12):
was cam six five, to forty eight ran a. Four
to six that's pretty. Hard to beat roethlisberger was definitely
not as fast, as those guys but. Also A monster
big ben was basically the same Exact, height as. JOSH
(55:34):
same weight I mean when, ben was young you ran
a four. To seventy five those guys. WERE freak shows
i mean. Absolute freak, SHOWS so yeah i put them on.
THE short list i don't know how much you, care
ABOUT baseball but I Saw the colorado rockies are twelve,
and fifty three, which is embarrassing which made me think,
(55:55):
of this question what's the worst team you've ever SEEN,
IN the Nfl Nba And? Major league baseball Love? The
pod well basketball is For Sure, that sam hinky we're just.
TRYING to lose i mean, they were playing they were
actively putting bad, players out there like trying desperately for.
(56:18):
YEARS to lose i mean that's we obviously have. Tanking
in basketball but they had a. Couple of years let
ME see if i can pull up been, like twenty,
fourteen maybe fifteen they went ten, and seventy two ten,
(56:42):
and seventy two ten. And seventy, two to me ten
and seventy two is like the equivalent of. H to
sixteen that's. That's pretty bad you could argue, that You
know the bolts had a year where. They got luck
they won a, couple Of games but manning's. Neck didn't
(57:05):
work So it's like Pollion. Or not pollyon but one
of their, coaches said, forever it's like why don't you?
Let The bet when gruden Went To a monday Night
Was calling monday night and went to one of their
practices getting ready, for the game, and he asked like
one of, their, assistant coaches like why doesn't the backup?
Get any reps, and he said because what, Was exact
(57:28):
Quote because if, peyton goes, down we're fucked and we.
Don't Practice Fucked so peyton manning got all the reps
because they. Don't practice fucked, SO it's like i give
you a little leeway when you have. A Major injury
the lions would have been the year they went, oh
in sixteen that. WAS pretty bad I feel like Owen,
(57:53):
sixteen the lions which. Is really bad they were trying
to win in what, year was that two, thousand and eight.
That's pretty bad trying to look at some. Of their
Players They drafted cliff, favriel that year so they went
(58:15):
in The Season. With, culpepper orlovsky yeah. Roster's pretty bad
That A young calvin johnson defense was pretty. TERRIBLE rough
season i Still believe the sixers. ARE worse baseball, I
don't know rocki is. Clearly pretty bad question. For the
(58:41):
bag in your own experience and that, of your peers
how do you view the relationship between chasing success achieving
professional goals you've, set for yourself to making time for, outside.
RELATIONSHIPS buddies girlfriends i find it increasingly difficult to balance
the two and wanted to hear. Some outside perspective, I'LL
(59:02):
be honest i don't really. Think about it i'm not.
Great with. BALANCE you know i spend for most, of the,
year you know definitely for. Eight nine months the majority
of my energy is going to go toward this in.
My professional LIFE and when, i, was young younger that
(59:24):
number was probably close to ninety to. Ninety Five percent as,
i've gotten older you gain perspective and you. Realize life,
SHORT you know i don't know how, old you are
But you. Know i'm, forty you know you, lose a
parent you just lose people you. Grew up, with in
life you kind. Of gain perspective but, when you're young
if you're a high achiever and a guy chasing shit
(59:46):
like you can't spend too much time, thinking about it.
Which is hard social media and you. See PEOPLE partying
but i don't think there's a right, or wrong. ANSWER
you know i think most people that are really really
ambitious in that want to do big things tend to
have a skewed pie chart in terms of time dedicated to.
(01:00:08):
Whatever they're doing and then as you get to a
certain age and if you get, a serious girlfriend, you
get married, with, your kids like you really don't have.
That much time the majority of your time is going
to be whatever you're doing, for a living especially if you're,
passionate about it if you, run a business, whatever you're
doing and. Then your family so like, the friend, stuff
(01:00:30):
you know it. ACTUALLY takes work i mean it's, when
you're young definitely, in your teens but even in college
and in, your early twenties. It's just easier you have.
More free time the, older you get the less free.
TIME you have i don't have great perspective ON this
because i don't do, balance very well never have and.
Probably NEVER will but i, mean One thing and i've talked,
(01:00:53):
ABOUT this before i got a lot of, negative attributes
well one POSITIVE attribute is i don't really get too
cut up up With like what i'm. Missing out on
if you are one, of those people it's HARD then
like i don't need a, big social life haven't had.
One IN decades so, I, don't know Man there's not
(01:01:17):
you don't meet many dudes, that, are like yeah, self
made millionaire got, seventy five Friends have, pickleball Wednesday, Night,
golf friday. Saturday three. Kids they're, young it's like this
is not. Going to be that's not going. To go. On,
you know now some people can balance like huge social lives.
AND really successful i. Couldn't do that that. Drains MY
(01:01:42):
energy so i dedicate my energy to what means a.
Lot to me AND that's. Where i think also comparing yourself,
to other people we're all kind of wired different and we,
all you know certain things fill my cup that wouldn't,
fill your, cup, just emotionally, Professionally you know so. It's
(01:02:04):
everyone's different i'm. A big believer just, trust your gut
do what, you're passionate about, and you know if you,
make a mistake you. Learn from it the people you do, care,
about though friends especially friends as, you get, older you
know it is important to just. You got it you
have to make effort to just occasionally keep up if
(01:02:26):
they mean. Something to you because, life, goes, on kids.
Jobs and people it's easier to people move you just
kind of it's human nature to grow apart and some
people it's like healthy to grow. APART from them i.
LOVE the pod i Just saw the Vikings Re, signed
josh oliver who's our. Blocking tight end with The Addition
(01:02:48):
of Fries Kelly. And jordan, mason to me it screams
O'Connell wants to run the ball and it fits McCarthy's.
Game plan style what are your thoughts gonna, need to,
baby play defense, run the Ball. TAKE shotsta justin i
mean you got you get the highest paid wide receiver.
In the league he's probably one of the best players.
(01:03:09):
In the league. Addison's a stud your offensive line should.
Be Much improved so i've, Said this before once you become,
a play caller whatever, your philosophy is truly not what
you talk about or not what you've wrote on, a,
white board like truly what you believe in and what
you like to. Do Comes, Out Jim harbaugh kyle shanahan
(01:03:33):
want to run. The bugging ball it's Why Most, Defense Pete,
carroll mike tomlin, if they could they would run the
ball forty times a game and win that run the.
Ball play defense it's like who they are. At their
core most offensive guys are. Not like that It's What
makes jim harbaugh form a. Quarterback An outlier kyle shanahan
a young guy under fifty that wants to, run the.
(01:03:54):
Ball An outlier arthur smith likes to. Run the ball
sean mcvagh people thought like he's like. A Shanahan disciple
john gruden kind of likes to run the ball and,
like quick passes kind of old. School That way andy reid.
Wants to throw sean McVeigh, his true colors wants to.
(01:04:14):
Throw the, ball kevin O'Connell THE guy that i, watched last,
YEAR was like i like, throwing the ball so, AT
his core i think he's much closer To Like, an,
Andy reid like i'd rather win. Throwing the ball because
in the last couple of games, of the Season when
when darnold was thrown off and the game was still,
(01:04:35):
in the balance he wasn't. Calling RUN plays so, i,
HEAR you like i think they're building the team, to
do that but the play caller then has to just run,
the BALL constantly where jj in College Was like Sharon
Moore and jim harbar gonna, call power right. POWER left
constantly aka pull the guard, full back up the whole
(01:04:57):
helmet on a helmet and let's smash Some Skulls and
blake korum, hit, That hole baby and that's what the coaches.
WANTED to Do, i THINK kevin and i Don't. Even
BLAME kevin when i walk out TO practice And I,
see JUSTIN jefferson and I look And I, see JORDAN. Edison,
see tj Hockinson you know i'm not. In football mode
whoever they're the third wide Receiver is Uh? Naylor or
(01:05:20):
nyalen it. STARTS with a I think. It's naylor case
that case. PRETTY good too i want. To throw Bombs
that's what. Kevin O'Connell calls push the ball. Down the
field and it worked Last Year, with sam donald it worked,
two years ago the last couple Of Years. With kirk
cousins so is he gonna call thirty thirty five. RUNS
a game i don't know it's gonna it's gonna if
(01:05:43):
he truly is, a past guy and that's what is
what he believes. In his soul it's gonna test. Him
this year if, if JJ's ready. It won't matter but
if it's like it's gonna, take some time it's gonna
be fascinating to watch. It play out that'll. End the
day still you the volume
