Speaker 1 (00:04):
It's a podcast called twenty five Playoffs.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
And they were a whizz.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
So yeah, it's too bad, but what did you expect.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
It's a podcast called twenty five whistles.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Well, congrats, Kevin. Yeah, it's gonna.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Be good for me either the way. Either you're gonna
be in a good movie, you're gonna be mad oither way,
it's gonna be fun for me to come in here.
But again, all right, let's start. This is another surprise episode.
Since we are not tethered to anybody, we don't even
know if we're ever gonna do another show after this one.
That's how loose this is. Right now, it's just us
because let's go to game six. Though we're gonna get
in just a second. Mark Schleba on who is ESPN's

(00:44):
lead golf guy, and PJ Championship coming up. We'renna talk
some golf in a minute, but we got to talk
about playoffs. Game six happens, Tatum hadn't done crap through
three quarters, you get your butt's gotta be so puckered
because if Boston loses that game, it's over.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Walk me through the first three quarters.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
And your main guy not being the main guy.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
The first three quarters were a nightmare, torture everything, And
I said, Tatum, you just got to do something here.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
He nothing did something. You said that.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
I called him and I said, Tatum, he was on
the bench. You gotta do something here because if not,
Bobby's gonna give me a lot of crap on the
podcast and I can't take that. And he listened.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
I was hurting for you.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
In that. Here's the difference, though, it because I never
want anybody to lose simply because it's their team. The
only thing that I get annoyed about with you is
not a youth thing. It's a Boston fan thing.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
You guys are so entitled.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
I think you're the most entitled sports city ever because
you've won so much, and because you're not like a
rich kid who's entitled because their parents grew up extremely
wealthy o their grandparents.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
You've won a lot in your life.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
You're like somebody who got rich and still expects to
be rich.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
And there's a difference.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
And then I respect that version of the sports fan
better than I do with somebody who was born into it.
So I still don't like you, but at least I
respect you. I get it because if the Patriots. I
am so said, I'm a Patriot fan. Oh my god,
do you know any championships you got to experience? All
of those with the Celtics, you got to So that's

(02:27):
the only Boston. So I'm jealous. It's like why I
hate Tennessee and Texas balls and Longhorns.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
They win. It annoys me because they beat us. Sometimes.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Texas hasn't been that great as of late, but for
a lot of my life, Texas beat the crap out
of US. Tennessee same thing. So it's always like when
you hate a fan base, it's not because you actually
hate the people individually. It's mostly you're just annoyed because
they beat you. So I love Boston Boston sports fans.
I get really annoyed by that being said. I would

(03:00):
have enjoyed going m oh boo bootoo, is it hard today?

Speaker 3 (03:03):
You lost but you didn't.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
Tatum comes back as like, what he's scored like sixteen
and the fourth something like that.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
Sixteen, Yeah, I think you have scored in sixteen twelve
by himself.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Unbelievable, and then after the game he was like, humbly,
I'm one of the best basketball players in the world,
and I was like, that's true.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
That's true for sure.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
So you go to Game seven in the daytime yesterday too.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
That was an early game, right, Yeah. I loved it.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Yeah, on a Sunday.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
Sunday, I get it.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
I was just surprised for television's sake that they did
not put it a little bit later, even like a five,
you know game like primetime. But okay, so how you
feeling pre game? It was a fifty to fifty that's
pretty good becau Usually I'm like ten ninety any game
seven or like big game.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
If it was in Philly, I would have been more
so on the other side for sure. But fifty to fifty.
I knew were at home. Jalen Brown called out the
home crowd, so I knew they'd be going crazy. And
once they got off to a slow start. Philly got
off to a good start in the first quarter and
or they were leading. I was like, oh no, here
we go again. And then second quarter got a little better.
They had to lead at halftime, and then a third
quarter they just took it and ran with it and

(04:07):
it was beautiful. I got a question for you.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
Yeah, it was over quickly. Yeah, I mean, let me
say that again.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
It wasn't over quickly, but it ended quicker than it
should have. Meaning yeah about the as not a fan
of either, and I was rooting for Boston really because
of you. Honestly, as it got into the third period,
like halfway through the third quarter or whatever, I was like, Oh, yeah,
this game's over. And I don't I rarely feel that
way in NBA games because because the shot clock is

(04:34):
so short, and I'm mostly a college basketball guy, but
because the shot clock is so short, things changed so
rapidly and ten twelve fift I feel like Doc Rivers
was just gave up when they were down nine, ten eleven,
twelve points.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
I'm sure he didn't give up, he just looked so dejected.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
Yeah, that's why I said I wasn't really worried about
Philly because I feel like, mentally, they just are not
prepared to handle situations like that, whether it's James Harden,
Doc Rivers, Joel Embiid and we saw at all in
Game seven, all three of those guys gave up as
soon as they got down by like you said, ten plus.
It was like, Nope, they're over, they're done, Send them home.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Yeah, Yeah, they're they're weak. Minds.

Speaker 4 (05:10):
Yeah, they're weak minds exactly.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
And now that whole place is gonna implode and Doc
Rivers wind up going to Milwaukee.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
That's my prediction.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
You can get fired in two years from No.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
I mean I've heard that from like three different People's
why I say that three people are that I kind
of trust where they're like, we we would think that
Doc Rivers don't want to be in Philadelphia anymore and
go to Milwaukee.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Harden, what are they gonna do?

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Matt pam Max Because I gotta pay him like one
hundred and eighty maybe a one hundred eighty. I'm get
my numbers mixed up. But you can't pay Harden for that.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
Embiid. What are you gonna do with him? I mean,
he won the MVP.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
You can trade him.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
You could trade him. He'd love to go to New York.
He'd love to go to the next you.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Get some But again, if you're a Philly fan, do
you want your team if you lose your coach? Let's
say Harden goes to Houston and you have Embiid, are
you trusting the process again or would you rather see
them tank for a couple of years to build back
that's tough because I never want a tank, but I
also understand the tank.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
But what was your question for me?

Speaker 4 (06:11):
Mine was as a fan. So yesterday, third quarter, all right, halftime,
I get up, I start doing some stuff around my
place and cooking and whatnot. And then third quarter starts
and I haven't sat down yet, right, and they go
on this big run in the third quarter, So I
don't sit down until halfway through the fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
You stayed up the whole time.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
You understand, Like, is that weird you or is that
a normal thing for the Celtics.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
I wouldn't do that crap, But if it's an Arkansas tan, yeah,
I gotta go on to.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Anything that I have been doing. It's part of the
formula of the game, and it's going right. I will
continue doing it if I'm doing because what I'll try
to do too during fall, because that's what college football
is happening. I do push because I have so much
nervous energy. I'll do push ups every commercial break, NonStop,
and I'll get to the first quarter and I start

(06:57):
to get a little fatigue. But if we're winning, I
will kill myself and I will continue to do push
ups at all costs. Yes, if I get really tired
and your chest gets all you know, you feel blown up,
and I'm like, oh, I'm done.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
Now I'm for losing.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
I'm done because push up didn't help crep anyway. But
you never know, those push ups might have just been
doing the thing exactly. Congratulations, Thank you you guys.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
And the Heat.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
I'm scared of them.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
No, you're not, And you wouldn't have been.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
If I would have said to you're gonna play the
Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals, you'd have been like, awesome.
You're scared of them because Jimmy Butler and because the
momentum they have.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
But you're not scared of that team, not the team.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
But they're a complete opposite of the Sixers when it
comes to mental strength and stability and being able to
handle the moment.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
We're also opposite and talent it buls like they are
mental and I think spos is probably one of the
top three coaches.

Speaker 3 (07:43):
In the NBA.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
But they don't have the weapons that Philadelphia has, Milwaukee
has that we could list all those other teams in
the East. They have Jimmy Butler and they've got some
role players that have played really well so I know,
I'm pretty pumped for you. I feel like, God, I
feel like it's a fund I think it's what they
call it, gentlemen sweep.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
Five games.

Speaker 4 (08:03):
No way, I think it's a.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
Five game gentlemen sweep.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
I'm going total opposite from last series. I am scared.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
You should be. It's time to be scared. Like last series,
You're like, no problem, we got this. I'm like, bro,
I'd never even say that. Even if I thought that,
I would never say it. Yes, you're petrified, Yeah, you're
petrified of getting swept.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
Yeah, that's what I would say.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
Yes, I'd be like, man, I'm just scared they're not
gonna get COVID and not even be able to play.
I'd go the total opposite. Well, congratulations, so we're set.
We're set with Over in the East, it's the bubble again.
I saw a graphic on ESPN. It's the rebubble. It's
the Lakers and the Nuggets and obviously the Heat and
the Celtics, but no COVID protocols.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
Let's go.

Speaker 4 (08:41):
It's the real thing.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
They weren't masks in the back of their head instead
of the front of their faces. It's just the opposite Okay,
now before we move to the tittle title, give me
my credit on the Lakers.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
Okay, you gave me my credit and you congratulated me,
so i'll congratulate you the Lakers. They surprised me. They
keep doing it and they won pretty again over the weekend.
So congratulations. I'll give you your credit. You called it,
and they've got one more series ago and then we'll
see no, no, no, no, we'll see.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
I just told you their ceiling was winning at all, yes,
and you said their ceiling was the second round, so
they've passed your ceiling. If they lose, now, they didn't
go past my ceiling.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
I'm the winner. Price is right.

Speaker 4 (09:23):
Rules, you lost, you went over They went over mine,
but short of yours.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
If they lose this round, price is right, rules, I
can get under. You just can't go over, and they
went over yours.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
All right?

Speaker 3 (09:34):
Did Let's go over to the tip tattle.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
His name ever, the tittle Tattle?

Speaker 4 (09:45):
All right? The Western Conference finals are set in the
battle of two big men going at it with Nicola
Jokic and Anthony Davis. Who is your favorite all time
big men in NBA history? George Marasan seven foot seven.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
He's on my NBA two K team right now.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Okay, during the middle of the nineties, remember George Marissime
is massive. Sean Bradley too, Like those dudes were so tall,
but they were all so tall that they weren't even
effective because they were either so skinny. Mirason still, I mean,
they're both still alive, I think. But Minerson was seven
to seven. He was like ellegante, ellegante and wrestling No.
Seven foot seven, the giant Alegonte, the giant. No, no,

(10:21):
not giants. You need to stop not understanding wrestling sot if.
I got to pick my favorite big man ever, the
most unstoppable Squille O'Neil, I mean Shaquille late Orlando early Lakers. God,
he's awesome.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
No, they had to.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
They invented schemes just to try to slow him, or
they would just they would set their bench differently. They
would have players on their team that normally wouldn't make
a roster because they needed big men to just foul
them and they couldn't run out of fowls with the
big men that actually mattered. So you know, hack a shack,
so the d is they get him on the line,

(11:04):
but you can't have your starting center or power forward
or backup center. So what you do is you put
four freaking centers on the bench, and what do.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
You do with the other two? You put him in.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
You hack Shack and you get him at the free
throw line. It was like me on Dan Twinge of
the Stars.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
I'll say it.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
They changed the roles after I left. They changed them
for Shack. So Shack probably my favorite big man ever.
I just really didn't have a favorite because I have
a favorite team.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
But Tim Duncan.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
Legit just because he was so consistent. I mean, David
Robinson at one point they were together, which is crazy.
I'm gonna go Shack though, just because he's also just
still fun now recency biased, he's the most likable for Yeah,
Shaquille O'Neill.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
Blue chips?

Speaker 4 (11:51):
You know blue chips?

Speaker 3 (11:53):
Are you out of your mind?

Speaker 1 (11:56):
Oh my god?

Speaker 4 (11:58):
What am I missing here?

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Twelve?

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Why am I doing a show with a kid? Is
this some science Mike? Is this some science project I'm
doing with like an elementary school kid? No one ever
told me this.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
I wasn't aware of that.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
Oh my god. Uh, Penny Hardaway, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
There we go.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
What about him?

Speaker 4 (12:15):
Basketball player?

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (12:17):
Played for the no played for the magic? Is that
what they used to call them is the blue Chips?

Speaker 1 (12:23):
H Well, Kevin, this has been an episode of kids
do the Darkness things.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
It's a movie nothing, Nope, okay ninety four. It doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
Sam, Well, that's Shack is a genie.

Speaker 4 (12:41):
Yeah, I remember that movie. That's a great movie.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, look up Blue Chips. Tell me what
it says about you don't look it up?

Speaker 4 (12:46):
Yeah, nineteen ninety four sports drama.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
That's all it says. No description this cuzam?

Speaker 4 (12:58):
Oh yeah, cuzam.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
You can say that, right.

Speaker 4 (13:00):
I know, I know.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
Eddie just walked in because he's gonna do the camera
for Marshall in a second.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
Guys, what the crap? He never he doesn't know what
Blue Chips is?

Speaker 4 (13:07):
Nod, what is it?

Speaker 3 (13:08):
It's a movie that changed our life.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
Like, okay, look at look it up.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
Have you not found it yet? No? I do literal
blue tortilla chist.

Speaker 4 (13:16):
It's got six point two out of ten stars, so
it must be great.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
Reading what it's about.

Speaker 4 (13:20):
Nick Nolty college basketball coach is forced to break the
rules in order to get the players he needs to
stay competitive.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
Sounds familiar and who is in it?

Speaker 4 (13:30):
Looking for the cast here? Nick O'Neil, g T. Wallsignolty,
Nick Nolty, Mary McDonald, Oh, shack, there he is. He's
way down here. You going, Penny hardaway?

Speaker 3 (13:44):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (13:44):
Matt and Nover?

Speaker 3 (13:45):
Yeah, Matt freaking Over. How do you not know him?
Do they play as themselves? No, they have character name.
I don't remember that. What I remember, I am for
sure because I've seen it forever.

Speaker 4 (13:55):
Yeah, I'm watched like seven times.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
You've heard a movie called The Program of Course, Don't
Don't have of Course.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
Which I think is overrated.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
By the way, for that time, it wasn't Ladder's back.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
Laddimer was crazy at the time. It was Now it
probably doesn't hold up as well. But yeah, hey, when
he carried the football around they tried to.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
It goes out and they're all diamond board in the hallway.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
I love it that movie.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
When I went to theaters. It had them laying in
the street as a team, laying in the middle. All
the cars would go by. But then some kids actually
tried it and they got run over, so they pulled
it out of the movie.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
He never saw that scene, did you no heard about it?

Speaker 2 (14:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (14:30):
Me too.

Speaker 5 (14:31):
I wonder if that was even real. That was the story.
Everyone talked about that.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
All right, next question, there c three and the Suns
were eliminated over the weekend from the playoffs. He has
still yet to win a championship. Who are some of
your favorites to never win a championship? I just wish
Charles Barkley would have won a ring. We're talking about
Shack still being likable.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
I wish Barkley would have won a ring so people
would shut up as that argument against him, even when
they're arguing literally against him, ain't got no rings. Who
he was still one of the most dominant players ever
ever as a forward, just almost those Phoenix teams almost.

Speaker 3 (15:07):
But I wish Charles Barkley had a ring. Didn't that Nash?

Speaker 1 (15:12):
Did he leave Dallas before they won that ring?

Speaker 2 (15:16):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (15:17):
He left before they I know.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
Wow. Yeah, they went to the Suns and they made
their runs and got stopped by the Lakers every year.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
M and then Karl Malone. He went to Ring Chase
with the Lakers, but they didn't win it with him,
did they. That's three Hall of famers for sure, Probably
Charles Barklay. That's my favorite guy. Who's never won. Also,
I've never won a ring, and I'm kind of my
favorite so won a mirror ball though, Yeah, but I
didn't win an NBA Championship ring. Mirorball is above that.
But I still haven't won the NBA Championship ring.

Speaker 3 (15:46):
All right? What else?

Speaker 4 (15:47):
When the talks of Brady become part owner of the Raiders,
if you could own one franchise, who to be part owner?

Speaker 2 (15:55):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (15:55):
My mind. Listen.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
If I'm going with the what's the what's the smartest
team to own? It would be the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
Play me.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
We play your clubs all the time. You do anytime
I talk about the Cowboys, I'm.

Speaker 4 (16:05):
Like, weating boys.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
That's awesome.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
When I was at the ACMs this past week, they said, hey,
the team wants to talk I was doing all the press.
They were like, you need to skip this and come
out with us. The team wants to talk to you.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
The Dallas Cowboys. Yeah, the team. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:18):
And I was like wait what They're like, yes, can
you skip some of the interviews here because the Red
Carpenter is a bunch of interviews after pictures of the
team want to talk to you.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
And I just talked to Dak Prescott. He was super cool.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
And so I walk out and walk all the way
around to the backside of the building and I walk
over and I'm literally looking for a bunch of guys
in football, like they take their team picture. That's what
I think I'm walking into. It was the team media
who wanted to talk to me.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
Oh dang, dude, I.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
Thought I was walking into like the picture of the
I thought it was gonna be all of them.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
There's no team.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
There was a team media, all right, So probably would
be the Cowboys in football, you know, obviously the Yankees
and baseball. But I'm not a big fan. I don't
like the Yankees at all. I'm but I heard Cowboys
fan for the last eight months or so of my life. Yeah,
you are got a I always had on Now you
can't even tell though, mm because I got a bunch
of free stuff from my guy, Tad Cowboys merch.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
Yeah, that's already got his DC for this Cobys.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
For like Pat Cowboys this year.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
Just thrown out there the Cubs. Okay, well you said
the Yankees already.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
They gotta pick no for me personally if it's like
what team, But I if I were just like you
can have it part of any.

Speaker 3 (17:20):
Team and you can sell it.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
In ten years, it'd be the Cowboys, the Yankees, but
if it looks like for fun, it would be the Cubs.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
Do you think if you own the Cubs, you would want.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
To like if you wants to be on the show
now I said, he's hopping out.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
Would you want to like change the stadium and like
upgrade a little bit? They have upgraded it, but.

Speaker 5 (17:39):
Like for real, for real because as a fan, I
think we all love it, but I wonder if the
players like it.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
You know what's interesting is I'm gonna go and go
back and do all that this year. I've never actually
been in the guts of Wrigley, I thought the first
pitch before I've been to Wrigley to watch games. I've
never like gone I got to hang out, and I'm
gonna go do that. This year got a pretty cool
action and it sucks to go. It's the worst, but
it makes it the best of all the stadiums because
it's not you can only do so much.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
Yeah it's not. There are there are, but I.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
Don't that place will never change, I don't think. But
like Yankee Stadium, they completely.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
Yeah, you know it's it's legit. No, the new one,
the new ones. It's okay, it's but it's not old.

Speaker 5 (18:24):
No, no, no, I mean yeah, yeah, they moved to the Bronx.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
I guess is that where it is. I just went
like two years ago on the subway and it's like right there,
it's a legit. I loved it. I mean it's great. Yeah,
but it's not. It's it's like too clean and ster alone.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
I mean it's like two Have you been to Fenway?

Speaker 3 (18:39):
I've been to Fenway.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:40):
I like Fenway.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
I know that you obviously do, since you're Red Sox
fan all Boston all the time. But they've done a
pretty good job up dating ish Fenway.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
I mean it's old. It has old field too, but
that's what makes it so great.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
All right, what else?

Speaker 4 (18:53):
Last one? Did you have a favorite NFL schedule release
video over the weekend?

Speaker 2 (18:56):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (18:56):
Yeah, have the Titans? Easily?

Speaker 1 (18:57):
Because they went to drunk people and they were like,
who's this team, like the Lightning McQueen's No, it was
the Chargers, the sixty nine ers fantasy team, sixty nine ers. Yeah,
the Titans. One went viral. Yeah, there are a lot of
them were shown a lot and they were pretty cool.
Like the Chargers had an anime one, which I like anime,
but it like.

Speaker 3 (19:14):
All over the world.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
It was a big deal because people like the anime.
But yeah, the Titans was awesome. Then they went drunk people,
I want my buddies. I guess that shows you how
much Titans fans like their own team in football. I'm like, no,
those aren't Titans fans. They're just drunk people from out
of town. And the people they went to the probably
got the right answers. They didn't put on the club.
It wasn't like we're going to talk to twenty people
only and we'll put them up. It was like, no,
you find the most entertaining ones and you put them

(19:37):
up there. Yes, So the Titans one was awesome.

Speaker 4 (19:39):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
Ah, there you go. That's Tittle Tata stupid his name ever,
the Tittle Town.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
All right.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
The reason Eddie came in the room Mark sleighballs here,
we're gonna talk to him in the second. He is
ESPN's lead golf rider covering PGA Tour and live golf
reporting from the PGA Championship all week. Following my Twitter
at Mark Underscore slave Ball. He's written a whole bunch
of books. But he's the golf guy. We wanted to
talk golf. Let's do it now here he is and Mark,

(20:08):
how's it going?

Speaker 3 (20:09):
Man? Hey? Good? I got I got a lot of
stuff to ask you.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
First of all, when you get out to a major
and it's a Monday, in your Monday, Tuesday winds three
days or so away, like, how serious are these guys
this early in the week.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
I think they're pretty serious. I mean, especially in a
place like Okaill where they're you know, they just just
over had a renovation and grains have been moved, the
buckers have been removed and these have been backed up.
So I think the going out and playing nine the
next couple of days and then playing some holes on
Wednesday is pretty important, just in terms of preparation.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
I got to play the Pebble Beach Prom last year
and the first time i'd been out as the caddies
were also out.

Speaker 3 (20:52):
You know, they had to have their notepads.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
The caddies are out by themselves, just walking around making
notes on things. But if their course has been renovated,
are they like doing double time time now?

Speaker 3 (21:00):
But since they have no experience there at all.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
Yeah, some guys are, I mean, some guys have been
out and played it. I saw Phil Nicholson was out.
I think it was last week up in Rochester getting
his first look at it, so definitely. I mean, you know,
it's been ten years since a PGA Championship was played
in Rochester, so there wasn't gonna be a lot of
familiarity with it. Anyway.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
Jason Day wins the tournament yesterday. How legitimate is momentum
in golf? Because if I gonna play a week two
days later, sometimes that sucked the next time I play.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
Is momentum golf a real thing?

Speaker 2 (21:35):
Yeah? I think, I mean, I think it is for
the for these guys, probably not as much for you
and I Like, you know, I played four days in
a row. I'm throwing up ninety eight hundred the last
day usually, But you know, if you're not Tiger Woods,
you know, winning a tournament and then winning a major
the next week doesn't happen very often. A few guys
other than Tiger have done it, but I think nowadays

(21:58):
you just put so much focus and mental you know,
into into getting the thing done on Sunday, it's really
tough to bounce back the next week.

Speaker 1 (22:07):
When the Masters happened and the Lived guys were out
and the PGA guys were out. I mean, was there
any actual real animosity between the human beings while that
was happening.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
No. I mean, you know, I think some guys like
some PGA tour guys like some live guys better than others.
I think most of them get along with Dustin Johnson
and and Brooks Kepka and guys like that, and then
they don't as much like Patrick Reed and Georgio Garcia
and some others. But I think from a personal standpoint,

(22:40):
I don't think there's much animosity. I just think guys
got pissed off that the live guys decided to pursue
the PGA tour.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
Do you think Patrick Freed's a cheater?

Speaker 2 (22:49):
I don't want to join the law, super Bobby. Someone
keep my mouth.

Speaker 3 (22:52):
Okay, okay, somehow.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
Somehow I have not been named a 's defamation lawsuit
about every other media entity out there.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
Now, I'm telling you I'll watch those clips. I mean,
I let the video speak for yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
I mean, that's good's crazy, Patrick creed Man, that's not
my guy.

Speaker 3 (23:10):
But here uh, so here we go. It's this week
John Ram number one.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
Yesterday if because Jason day one and we if we
would have seen Scheffler one, he would he did jump
to number one in the world.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
Who's hotter right now though, rom or Scheffler?

Speaker 2 (23:25):
I think John Rahm, I think you know, I think
Scotty's cooled off a bit, but still the best two
players in the world right now. Certainly Rory mcroy's taking
a step back after the Masters and is still trying
to get thanks right between the years. But I just
think John Ram, with the way he's hit it off
the tee, his iron play, you know, work around the greens,

(23:49):
which used to not be one of his strengths. See,
you know, six worldwide victories to go.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
With you have relationships with these guys because you're not
covering them so much, it's just hard not to have
relationships with them. Do you ever get a chance to
go out and do and any sort of practice round
with them under the guys of hey.

Speaker 3 (24:02):
This is work.

Speaker 2 (24:03):
No, not as an actual tournament. I've played some rounds
with off weeks or during those still winner or whatever.
It's probably not a more intimidating thing.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
To do you cut out? Who'd you say there?

Speaker 2 (24:17):
No, I just said some guys got it fast.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
Oh so when you see Rory in person, I've never
seen Rory in person.

Speaker 3 (24:23):
Is he jacked? Does he always wear tight shirts?

Speaker 2 (24:25):
He's pretty jacked and he puts in the effort. You know,
he's a smaller guy stature wise, but he's pretty ripped. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
To me, is Tiger still ripped upper body though?

Speaker 2 (24:39):
Oh yeah, Tiger's ripped. Not as much as he once was,
but he is.

Speaker 1 (24:43):
I hear stories of when Tiger walks through the clubhouse
from some of my friends who play or are part
of the tour, and Tiger still rolls with a pretty
big one rush security mostly, do you kind of know
Tiger's coming before he's coming? I guess I saw Drake
once at a restaurant. All of a sudden, there was
all these security guys were like, well, somebody's about to
show up, and then Drake showed up. Is that how

(25:04):
Tiger is?

Speaker 2 (25:06):
Oh? Yeah, yeah, it's it's there's there's about ten to
fifteen media people that regularly covers the tour or whatever
Tiger shows up as where most of the the media
folks are too.

Speaker 1 (25:17):
All right, here we are it's another major. If you
had to pick one, what's a rhyme with that? We're
not gonna make you pick one. What's a rhyme with?

Speaker 3 (25:23):
Who do you like?

Speaker 2 (25:25):
One?

Speaker 3 (25:25):
Two? Three?

Speaker 1 (25:25):
Give me three guys that you feel like if you
were rhyming, who you rhyme their name with?

Speaker 2 (25:30):
Uh, Feffler, Tom, okay? And who would be the third one? Awfully,
I'll let you figure that one out shofly.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
Yeah, yeah, there is Eddie. What's up? Turn your mike,
come buddy, Hey, Mark, how's it going? Man?

Speaker 5 (25:51):
A quick question just about Ricky Fowler. Like, in the
past few years of Ricky Fowler, it's been tough, you know,
not making a lot of cuts. But this season you
start to see a little more Ricky now, Like what
have you talked to him or do you know what
he's been doing different?

Speaker 3 (26:03):
I mean he's playing a lot better golf.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
Yeah, you know, the deal with Ricky people have told
me to deal with Ricky over the years, was you
just never really wanted to put in the practice time.
He's just one of those guys that wanted to go
out and play and didn't really want to grind on
the range and work on the technical parts of the game,
and I think with maturity he's kind of turned the
corner with that. I know he was working with John Tillery,
a swing coach, and they broke up and he's with

(26:27):
a different guy now, But got back into the top
fifty in the world, and you know, he's got a
chance to get in the other majors this summer. So
certainly a resurgence as well for him.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
Let me ask you how swing coaches in general. A
swing coach that because we see them out on the road,
out on tour with these guys, like, did there swings
change that much week to week? Like really, the intricacies
of the swing I get it, because I don't have
whatever interesacy you need to be consistently good. What's a
swing coach's job day to day with a person.

Speaker 2 (26:58):
Basically to keep bad thought out of their heads? I think,
I mean most of these guys, the really good guys
have a swing coach, a putting coach, a short game coach,
a trainer, a chef, and everything else. But swing coach,
I think, is a lot of it's just keeping bad
thoughts out of his head, keeping good ones in there,
and then making sure.

Speaker 1 (27:18):
They're final confidence, any one of those for life, any therapist,
just travel when I tour. Dang, what about you watch
Full Swing? Do you get a chance to watch that?

Speaker 3 (27:27):
I'm sure you did, right, I watched.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
I watched most of it. My daughters watched all of it.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
What did you feel, who did you feel was most
accurately represented, and who did you feel came off most
likable that we learned about for the first time?

Speaker 2 (27:39):
Yeah? I love I love the episode with Joel Damon moved.
Not a lot of people know, but the guy that
overcame cancer, you know, it's Caddie's a really good dude.
Few is another one. Tony Fenw just a family guy.
I wrote today, it wouldn't surprise me to d f
now seats sixty five on Thursday, and then he take
his kids to ny Or Falls. That's just the way

(28:01):
he rolls. They're at every tournament with him.

Speaker 3 (28:03):
But h Yeah, I.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
Think brooks Kopka A lots of people don't like him,
but I don't think he was portrayed very favorably in that,
and he kind of moaned about it at Augusta National.
But he could be a factor here this week as well.
He's playing really well and it's hitting the hits the
ball far, and you're gonna have to hit it far
and head it straight here off the tea to have
a chance.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
Well, I wasn't a Kepka fan. I wasn't a Kepta
hater until I watch Full Swing. I can't stand Kepka
because of how I don't have his portrayed or if
they just kept listen. I did a reality show once
and I knew anything I said could be used, but
anything I couldn't say couldn't be used because you can't
they can't use what you don't say.

Speaker 3 (28:41):
So he said all this stuff.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
I'm not sure if he feels like he was accurately
portrayed or not, but god, dang man, I finished that
and I was like, I do not like that, dude.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
I think at that point he was really really vulnerable.
I mean, I think that's the only reason he went
to live other than the money, was he thought he
was done. He thought his knee was toasted and they
were gonna be able to compete with the young kids anymore.
And I think he was just so vulnerable at that moment.
If that's how he he came across, but you know,
it's he still got something left in the tank. You

(29:09):
approved to that Augusta.

Speaker 1 (29:10):
So are you telling me and only got two more questions?

Speaker 2 (29:12):
Here?

Speaker 4 (29:13):
Are you telling me I should like him more than
I do?

Speaker 3 (29:15):
Mark?

Speaker 2 (29:16):
I think you should probably like him more than you
like Patrick Reid.

Speaker 4 (29:20):
I'm telling you they ain't very like.

Speaker 3 (29:24):
All right, So what do you do all week you're there?
I mean, it's it's freaking Monday and this thing.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
Doesn't even start till Thursday, and then you're there till Sunday.
Like they give you a nice hotel, You're there for
a whole week.

Speaker 3 (29:34):
When I'm gone for a week.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
I'm yeah, it's it's it's a Monday to Monday deal.
And I do like six or seven of these every summer.
You know it's good. It's Look, I'm going to La
Country Club for the US Open, I'm going to Liverpool
for the Open Championship, and then I'm heading over to
Rome for the Ryder Cup. There are worse places to be,
but yeah, it's a long week. I'll walk holes with

(29:56):
guys in practice rounds if I'm working on a story
on a specific guy. But you know, it's it's not bad.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
Let me ask him on final question, not about golf.
But uh, when you've written so many books. But I
do want to ask about Duck Dynasty and the time
that you spent with those folks. What was your takeaway
after finishing your time with them.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
I talked to one of them a couple of weeks ago.
I mean, probably one of the biggest surprises and successes
of my career that I think we ended up doing
seven books with him. And I just remember I went
out to do Phil, Willie and Corey's book and they
said Phil wanted to see me. So I went out
to feel Phil's home on the river and he said, well,

(30:44):
if you're smart enough to write Willy's book, you're smart
enough to write my book. And we were eating dinner
and I took a bit a piece of fried chicken
and Phil looked at me and he said, schlebo, it's
going to be a rough winner. And I said, why
is that? He said that squirrel, you just ain't had
extra thick fur.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
Hey, I appreciate the time, have a great week. It's
the beginning of the grind for you too, so I
respect it. I appreciate it, and uh, yeah, hope to
talk to you soon. All right, Schedule release its on
like a bigger deal this year, like they built it
up more because they've even had a day of we're
going to give you the day when we give you
the day of the schedule release.

Speaker 3 (31:21):
So and eventually, because I used to.

Speaker 1 (31:23):
Think the draft, although interesting, it wasn't something I would
ever watch more than a pick. But now the draft
is the thing we sit, we watch. We eventually they're
going to make a TV show out of the schedule release. Yeah,
and it's gonna be like the big game from week one,
or what I think they should do is do the
schedule release.

Speaker 3 (31:44):
But they've got.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
Three teams sitting together, full pads, and they go and
they go, okay, Jets, Bills and like the Colts, and
they're like Colts, you're free to go. And the Jets
and the Bills got to play each other right then,
right after the schedule release show and they play in.

(32:07):
The winner of that game is I don't know how
to feel superowl some some like fun thing. But they
don't get stretch or anything. It's just like you're in,
you're cold, put your pads on, playball and then loser
gets killed.

Speaker 3 (32:21):
The killing.

Speaker 4 (32:23):
We're doing the old Roman day funk.

Speaker 1 (32:25):
It's like for sure, like Hunger Games type stuff.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
But eventually they're gonna make this a show, right.

Speaker 4 (32:28):
Oh yeah. Even NFL Network has a program where it's
like you got to release it. Yeah, I mean, but
like not a legit, but it's gonna get It's.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
Like Selection Sunday, that's a show. The NFL Draft, that's
a show.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
We could look forward to all that, but I have
here a few teams will go over the over unders.
Cincinnati Bengals over under eleven and a half games, and again,
I'm not looking at the whole schedule, so you just
going by gut.

Speaker 3 (32:50):
I'm not gonna hold you to it.

Speaker 1 (32:51):
Cincinnati Bengals over eleven and a half, I'm gonna go
over over. Can't say the Chiefs over eleven and a
half over yeah, proved me you're not gonna be awesome
over Yeah. Forty nine ers over under under. I go
under too, only because what's gonna happen in a quarterback?
We do not know if the season started now, I
guess they're Sam Donald will be their starter. Yeah, just

(33:14):
because of injuries. I don't think anybody else could play, right.

Speaker 4 (33:19):
No, I don't know if Trey Lands is going to
be good to go right now today, Oh, right now.

Speaker 1 (33:22):
Donald would have to be the starter. Would if we
did my game for a TV show, Yes, and it
was a forty nine er. Sam Donald would have to
play the game. Sam Jaguars over under ten and a half.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
Over, just because that division is so bad.

Speaker 1 (33:35):
That's what I was gonna say. They also have some promise,
but they're still the Jaguars. It's like we saw them
last year versus all the other years we've seen them.
And then, yeah, the division is so bad, let's go
with Buffalo Bills over under ten and a half.

Speaker 4 (33:52):
Over, but not by much. Eleven wins.

Speaker 1 (33:54):
Funny that we found out now that Josh Allen and
the reason that he was getting yelled at on the
sideline was because he was obviously his head wasn't in
because his girlfriend had found out he was cheating on
her the day before.

Speaker 3 (34:07):
Oh you don't know that.

Speaker 4 (34:08):
I didn't see that waiting what it's the whole story
now in May.

Speaker 1 (34:13):
No, but she found out the day before that playoff
game they lost, and I don't know who was receiver
a running back, somebody was yelling at him on the sidelines.
It was Diggs, yes, but that's what happened so apparently
allegedly where on the street is I'm gonna all those terms.
His girl found out that he was cheating on her.

(34:34):
They've been together since high school and she like pieced out.
And that was right when the playoffs were happening. Oh wow,
terrible game. I did not hear anything about that. Yeah,
keep your weani, honest, I didn't happen, you know what
I'm saying, Buffalo Bill to do that one Eagles over
under ten and a half.

Speaker 3 (34:52):
I'm gonna go under. Controversial pick.

Speaker 1 (34:54):
I think the Cowboys, I think the Commanders, I think
the Giants.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
That's a pretty good division.

Speaker 4 (35:00):
Yeah, I'll go under as well.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
Pretty good division.

Speaker 1 (35:03):
The bottom barrel teams, the Cardinals and the Texans having
over under a five and a half. You know, I'm
gonna go Texans over. I think they get six to
seven wins, not because C. J.

Speaker 3 (35:11):
Stroud, but because.

Speaker 1 (35:17):
They Yeah, I think See Shouds is an upgrade though too,
even though he's a rookie.

Speaker 3 (35:24):
I'm gonna go.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
I don't know if I'm going on, if he's going on,
I'm just kind of talking myself into not. But yeah,
they're they're division with the Colts, the Jaguars, and the Titans.
The Titans might be pretty good. See I'm going under
I've changed your mind, Live Live, Live under the Yeah,
all right? Cool?

Speaker 2 (35:41):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (35:42):
Tatum dropped fifty one.

Speaker 1 (35:42):
We talked about Celtics whip up on the Sixers. The
Celtics win in the East. Boy, that Lakers Nuggets serious
gonna be good?

Speaker 4 (35:51):
How do you feel about that going in because it's
such a big Lakers guy.

Speaker 1 (35:55):
I'm not a big Lakers guy. I just think that
I bet them than to make the playoffs. I'd like
to see the Ron won another ring, only because I
love it's not controversy, but I love when there's something
to talk about, and mostly people are like Jordan over Lebron.
That's probably sixty five thirty five if you were to
just put a straight gauge over all of America and

(36:17):
who they feel is the rights of all time. If
Lebron wins another ring, it's probably then fifty five to
forty five Michael still because people that are older and
saw Michael are getting hold onto that.

Speaker 3 (36:32):
But if Lebron wants another ring, that's trouble him. He's
got the scoring record.

Speaker 1 (36:37):
That's why I like though I want to see that
because I want there to be an argument and football
there is no argument anymore, Tom Brady, that's gonna be
a good one.

Speaker 3 (36:45):
What I want, that's all. I want the Lakers to win.
But man, Yoki is so good.

Speaker 4 (36:47):
I can't wait to see yo get so.

Speaker 1 (36:49):
Yeah, he's like somebody playing pick up all does all
the funny stuff, but he's making it against NBA teams. Yeah,
so that's what's up. Thank you very much. Let's close
it out right.

Speaker 3 (36:59):
Closing remark, Kevin, what do you have?

Speaker 4 (37:02):
I watched speaking of Jordan, I watched the movie air
over the weekend watching Amazon Amazon, Yes, and it was awesome.
I know Mike's talked about it a little bit and
he liked it. It was really, really, really good.

Speaker 3 (37:14):
What did the theater? Watched it and I never want
to go to theater again.

Speaker 1 (37:17):
Before I was never going already sport off and I
went and I enjoyed it, and I'm never going back.
Some guy was like cheering along with her, like I
told you, what did you tell me?

Speaker 3 (37:25):
You didn't tell me anything.

Speaker 4 (37:26):
The story has already written itself.

Speaker 3 (37:28):
I told you it was gonna be good. I don't know.
It's like something happened like some of the designs you
I told you? I mean, who is talking to didn't
tell me anything? And you're not sitting He was sitting alone.

Speaker 1 (37:40):
And Caitlyn's like, why is that guy yelling like it's
an actual sporting event?

Speaker 3 (37:44):
Yeah, and he was like, yep, boom knew it.

Speaker 4 (37:48):
That was me last night while watching it.

Speaker 3 (37:49):
It's great. Yeah, really was great.

Speaker 4 (37:51):
Awesome.

Speaker 3 (37:51):
Let's go over to read read what's going on? Buddy.

Speaker 4 (37:53):
I have never been more ready for something in my
entire life puberty. Yeah, all right, well and that's something.
Is our two K NBA league?

Speaker 3 (38:04):
Did you play all your games? Yeah? Oh no, I
think I have one more? You got play today? Today's
last day? Yeah.

Speaker 1 (38:08):
Our playoffs, which I was also going to ask you.
I can't remember when our playoffs were, so they'll start
in nice couple of days. And I have a money
in our two K league. If you play all your
games and you win your first playoff game, you get
ten dollars. After that's twenty more dollars if you win
the whole league, one hundred bucks. Okay, So, and Reid's
got Shack redrafted Shack with the Nuggets when Shack was

(38:29):
a rookie, so yeah, it's be good.

Speaker 3 (38:31):

Speaker 1 (38:33):
I went to the Dallas Cowboys standing for the ACMs.
But it wasn't the stadium. It's the Ford Center, which
is their practice facility. Except don't hear the words practice
facility and think it's actually a practice field where you
just do some crap. It's nicer than in the It's
better than half football stadiums have been into college football stadiums.
It's so all the offices are too, and all the

(38:55):
other memorability of the gear.

Speaker 4 (38:56):
There's a museum the whole community.

Speaker 3 (38:57):
It's freaking leguice.

Speaker 2 (38:59):
Really.

Speaker 1 (39:00):
Yeah, they got seat They have like high school games there.

Speaker 3 (39:03):
I don't think they play state championship game there.

Speaker 1 (39:05):
I think they play that in the Big One maybe,
but they play playoff games there. I thought we're going
to our practice field to do the ACMs.

Speaker 3 (39:11):
Oh yeah, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (39:12):
It's like the one of the coolest things I've ever seen,
Like all the they have all the mannequins of all
the help with all the helmets from over the years.
I stood there and I kind of got in trouble,
but I got in the middle of them into a
picture like looking like it. But like Eddie says on
our clip about them cowboys, I mean.

Speaker 3 (39:28):
Wow, how about them call there is there is?

Speaker 1 (39:32):
So it's pretty cool to see that. I mean they
got some I don't know if you guys know this.
I don't want to spoil this and I don't want
to get trouble for saying it.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
But Jerry Jones is.
