Suffering an injury at work can cause physical pain, but
also great uncertainty about your rights. You need to retain
a worker's compensation law firm that is a winner like
our sixers, a firm that gets some of the best settlements,
but is also willing to go toe to toe with
the insurance company. No settling on the cheap. This is Philly.

Cohen are the official partners of the seventy six Ers.
They'll go ring the insurance company's bell. Talking about with
the double team was the score that ends up being
(01:41):
the final one fourteen one oh nine. So after the
successful Sixers challenge for the Quentin Grimes nonfoul the seconds
on the shot clock or so Minnesota the side out
of bounds, Edwards got it back double teamed by Butler
and Walker of the Sixers, and at the very end
of the shot, Clock threw it up from the right
wing and knocked it down a three ball to put
(02:01):
them from up two to up five, which ends up
being the winning margin after I missed six Ers three.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
You know, like, we watch guys shoot all the time,
whether it's pregame or after practice or whatever. And you know,
these guys take so many shots. But everyone and this
would be I would say this to young players. Every
one of your shots shouldn't be like stationary. In other words,
sometimes guys take shots you're like, why would he ever
take that? You shoot that in the game. Well, sometimes
(02:26):
you have to write in other words, like I watched
Red shoot nas reshoot some of those prior to the
game off one foot, you know, leaning falling away. That's
that's what that shot required. And these guys, like I said,
it's world class skill on full display. So but a
great effort by the Sixers. I mean, when you like, again,
to borrow an old line from six Ers coaches of
(02:49):
by Brett Brown used to say, compare the resumes, right,
Like the Sixers who had they had out there at
the one point, And then there was that one play
where you know, like two or three of the players
for the Sixers were just totally winded from playing so
hard and you know, like having to catch their breath.
You rarely see that right in an NBA game, where
(03:10):
they were leaning over and just trying to gather their breath.
That was just literally like a gutty effort on full
display to make it as close as they did. And guys,
a lot of guys deserve credit, Grimes being one of
them with his ability to score, and all Yabu and
Monnie Walker and Jared Butler played well.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
The resumes and the stakes, right, we know the Sixers
are not playing for the playoffs, whereas like Memphis just
had a narrow win over Detroit, and that's a team
that came in with the same record as Minnesota. They're
both now after a win for Memphis, there's still forty
six still tied now forty six and thirty two, and
it's a bunch of teams within a couple of games
(03:48):
of each other, and you want to avoid that play
in tournament. So that's what Minnesota's playing for down the stretch.
They had their lineup, their starting lineup loaded up with
Edwards and Conley and Gobert and Randall and McDaniels. It's
a very good five with a very good bench and
de Vincenzo Read Alexander Walker and the Sixers made it
interesting down the stretch. Was the offensive rebounding? Was that
what reared for Minnesota? Was that what reared its head
(04:10):
again in the fourth after they kind of the Sixers
kind of cleaned it up in the third.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Yeah, I mean that was part of it. They had rebounds.
I thought Rudy Gobert not just the numbers. He was
incredible with twenty three points and nineteen rebounds, but he
affected so many shots, like I was saying, like Sixers
guards were driving it. They appeared to have enough separation,
but they still didn't shoot it because his length. He
would go across the lane and you know, possibly turn
(04:36):
them away. And then he had so many baskets, like
you say, in the area of offensive rebound he was
so tall, and that's obviously a huge part of his game,
the rebounding. He was able to hold off the Sixers
with one arm and rebound the ball and a couple
times score it with his right hand while holding the
sixer player at bay. Yeah, and then there were there
(04:58):
was certainly like that one play at the end there
where they said there was no foul, it appeared there
was two fouls. One on Grimes which was initially called
and the initial foul which wasn't called on Julius Randall.
This was right before the big play that we're talking
about was six and a half seconds to go, and
it looked obvious that Grimes was fouled by Julius Randall.
(05:21):
But yeah, it was an exciting game. And again, like
you said, a lot of Minnesota fans here.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
And Edwards has a lot of fans. We see that
in the NBA individual players picking up fans. I saw
some young fans with one might have a Maxi jersey
on and the other might have an Edwards jersey on,
and kind of cheering for both teams at times. It
ends up being a one to fourteen one oh nine
Timberwolves win in Philadelphia behind thirty seven for Edwards. We'll
(05:48):
get to coach when we can, but while we have
a second Tom gershon Yabu Sele I know we didn't
make a three tonight, but how is he able to
impact this game against his fellow French national team player
at Gobert.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
Yeah, not every sequence was one on one with with
Yabu against Rudy, but a number of times when Rudy
was out, Yabu got I think two or three clear
pass right down the laying dunks. And then there were
other times when against Randall. You know, again, Yabu is
so effective at holding the defender off and in my
(06:20):
theory is like he's been undersized. You know, he's six.
He's listed at six to eight, so it's relative.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Nick Nurse always gives him less height when he's talking
about it. He's probably a sixth center.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Yeah, it's but they're they're so used to scoring against
taller players. They do it a lot.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Here's coach there there in the second half. It's really
tough shots.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
But you guys the board.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
Yeah, he obviously kind of needed it there, falling down
whatever eight, nine to ten, they're down the stretch, and
uh really energized us. I think you came up and
got a couple in it. Just then we started jarring
the ball away a little bit and and I think
I think it really sparked us to get back in
the game. And make it, you know, go down to
the last possession there in some.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Unusually big frank court tandem. The last two games with
Giannis and Brook and then to night with and Nods.
I guess what what do you the lessons do you
hope your your bigs take away from an.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
Experience where Yeah, I mean, I think a couple of things.
Let's start with the other guys first, that the other
guys aren't going in there and just serving up block
shots after block shots. I think they're they're learning, you know,
we we obviously talk about that in the in the game,
like once you beat them and they're gonna be there,
you can't really do much with them at the rim,
(07:35):
so you got to make the next play out however,
We're going to do that. That's the first thing. And
the other thing is mostly it comes down to rebounding right,
And it's not just the sheer size of it. It's
it's it's what those guys is. Not only are they big,
but they're also good at just before the shot has
(07:55):
taken their dislodging and pushing and throwing you underneath, and
as it's time to turn and block out, you're they've
already started on you, right, So that's the kind of
kind of a little bit of the experience or gamesmanship.
You got to learn to to be able ready to
anticipate that just maybe account before the SHOT's taken, rather
than waiting till one goes up to get into the
(08:16):
fight with that rebounding right. I thought that happened to
us quite a bit tonight, where we got almost pushed
out of bounds and they'd be standing there the clean,
clean put back right.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
He played about two and a half minutes in the
first quarter and then didn't end up back in the game.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
First, what was he available?
Speaker 3 (08:31):
And if he was, then you didn't go to him?
I guess what was the thought. Yeah, So so we
came made a quick early sub because Justin went out
and then Justin was back, and I kind of wanted to, like,
I could have done it right there before he got
the couple of minutes, but then I just wanted to
get Justin back in the game, and then you know,
(08:54):
then I just think it came down to some other
guys playing very well when they got their chances. Badley
played very well. I thought, uh Lonnie was playing well,
Q was playing well, Jerry was playing well. Hood Schafino
was playing well, and I just didn't feel like there
was I just just wanted, you know, three of those
guys on the floor and just just was a little
bit of a funky night for Ricky. I mean, is
(09:15):
there an update on him? Yeah, so he heard his
r He's been h dealing with some rib issues. Right,
he got hit again. I think this is the third
time now. Uh, two games ago, one game ago, tonight.
They are checking him out some more. Hopefully it's gonna
be okay, but they they need a pretty good check
(09:37):
on him here cause he was not not allowed to
I mean, came back, but then he was taken out
I believe a halftime.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
Yeah, the album was obviously giving you guys so much
to see your minutes waves production. Why just sort of
down the line, like just what causes you the strong
end of the season for him.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
In your mind?
Speaker 3 (09:55):
Yeah, just just kind of what he's doing now, Like again,
he's he's playing hard. I think he's you know, he's
got the right kind of attitude to kind of lead
and help the guys that are that are playing now.
You know, I think he makes tough, some tough plays.
He seems to find himself in in the right place.
(10:17):
For some you know, transition or dr or drives or
whatever gives us a pretty good picking pop option. I
know he didn't hit any tonight, but it's still part
of moving the offense to the next action and he's
he's you know, very good at that as well. So
just just kind of that spirit, that fight that that
they played with tonight f finish out the last four.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
He talked a lot about Arcus's hustle.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
Uh before the.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Game, it seems like he's really good timing for he
took backs.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Yes, what does it besides hustle?
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Just what goes into that?
Speaker 3 (10:47):
Yeah, I always think that you're right, he's got a
little bit of a knack for it. Right, But again
I always say that how many how many offensive rebounds
did he end up with? Three? Four? End up with three?
Felt like a lot more than that, and they were
all put backs. I think maybe that's why. But you know,
if you're gonna get three or four, you probably got
(11:08):
to go eighteen to twenty times. And I think he
just a consistent you know, he just consistently makes that
effort to go and then you know, every now and
then he breaks through and the ball bounces the right way.
And again, if you're going, you're going, you're going, you're
gonna get get some to bounce your way. I thought
a good job, you know, even the even three he
(11:28):
got officially, you know, he's close to about another six,
you know, I thought Colin was the same, you know,
just just going in there and making that matters too. Like,
if you can make their defensive rebounding more difficult, it
helps your transition game. Right, They're just not snapping it
and rolling right out of it. You know, they're fighting
and they're like shoot, they to it and they slow down,
(11:49):
handed off or whatever. So so that effort, even when
you don't get them, is a small, small thing that
that has some pretty good results.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
Yeah, just overall this group, like the things that you've
been able to like just put together that have just clicked,
that have allowed you to to push these studs upon this.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
I don't know again, I think that you know, the
the fluctuations of the roster and stuff have have probably
determined a little bit how we play. And again tonight
we got a little bit bigger just all around. Right,
we're starting big, got a couple of bigs to come
off the bench, you know, like wings are a little bigger, stronger.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
You know.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
Again, I think this group played really well on that
Southern road trip. But again we had kind of six
eight o okiki in there. We had six eight. We're
set in there, and it just gives us some more
options to like not just get bullied, you know what
I mean, just like pushed out, you know, just just
a little bit more highight across the board. I think
gives us a chance to stand in there and go
stand in and contest shots, stand in there and rebound.
(12:52):
I think that's probably it.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
Yeah, there's Nick Nurse on the seventy six Ers postgame
show presented by Parks Casino after a one fourteen to
one to oh nine Sixers loss in Philly to the
Minnesota Timberwolves. Anthony Edwards with a game high thirty seven
points twenty four in the second half the Dagger three
(13:16):
to put them up by this five point score late
at the end of the shot clock while double teamed.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
As we've talked.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
About, Rudy Gobert let all rebounders with nineteen eight on
the offensive glass, blocked three shots with his twenty three points.
Leading assist man was sixers point guard Jared Butler eight
assists with sixteen points. The Sixers leading rebounder was a
(13:43):
dem Bona with ten, just four points after a career
high twenty eight points on Thursday against the Bucks. Grimes
made six threes, so tooted Anthony Edwards of Minnesota. Justin Edwards,
of the Sixers, played only eleven minutes early in the
second quarter, left the game did not return after halftime
(14:05):
with the rib contusion. Four of Bona's ten rebounds were
on the offensive glass. Marcus Bagley was talked about by
the coach with three offensive rebounds five in the game.
Some efficient bench numbers for some of these new Sixers.
Bagley was signed to his second ten day contract earlier
today the great season in his second year with the
(14:28):
Blue Coats. Colin Castleton Jalen Hood Schafino on a two
way deal. Lonnie Walker, the fourth led all Sixers bench
scorers with eighteen points, was the third highest total on
the team, in between Butler, who we said had sixteen,
and then f Walker, then Yabu Sale's nineteen, and then
Grimes on top of the Sixers side with twenty eight points.
(14:53):
Minnesota shot fifty one percent. Philadelphia shot forty eight. Either
team excelled from outside thirty two percent for the Wolves,
thirty four for the Sixers, and they left points on
the board of the line. Minnesota twenty one of twenty nine,
but took fourteen more free throws nine for fifteen, the
Sixers at the line sixty percent. They were out rebounded
forty seven to thirty four, but they did clean up
(15:14):
the turnovers only eleven compared to fifteen for the timber Wolves,
which led to twenty two Sixers points. And now they'll
get Miami on Monday night. They're playing the Bucks tonight
in Florida, and at last check, we're up eight towards
(15:39):
the end of the third quarter, even with Tyler Hero
not playing. They've had an interesting couple of weeks. They
had a ten game losing streak, but then a six
game winning streak, including one here before Memphis beat them
on a Jah Morant game winning shot. And again they're
hosting Milwaukee tonight. We'll do the game from start to
(16:00):
finish with some highlight calls after a break. The Wolves
won fourteen, the Sixers one oh nine, and we'll do
that on the other side and talk about Anthony Edwards
making history tonight in Philadelphia from Beyond the Arc on
the seventy six Ers postgame show presented by Parks Casino.
(16:22):
So the Minnesota Timberwolves do take both games from the
Sixers in the season series here in the twenty twenty
four to twenty five NBA season, but this one took
some work in Philadelphia by a final score of one fourteen,
one oh nine. They did have a lead as large
as thirteen, but that was early in the game. The
Sixers had a lead through three eighty three, eighty two,
(16:45):
but the Wolves, behind thirty seven from Anthony Edwards, six
threes and ultimately what was the game winning three pointer
to make it a two possession game, they win it
one fourteen, one h nine. They were in a three
team tiebreaker record wise as the sixth and final team
(17:06):
that outside of the play in tournament, the last guaranteed
playoff spot in the other conference in the West coming in,
but Memphis won. So now, if the Clippers pick up
one more win, that would be the same situation that
had Minnesota in sixth, but for now Memphis goes to sixth,
Minnesota drops into the first play in tournament spot. So
all that to say this was an important game to them.
(17:27):
They're forty six and thirty two. The six Ers, it
was their eleventh straight loss, and they are twenty three
and fifty five. It's five straight wins for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Matt Murphy back with you on the Parks Casino postgame
Show after a game that featured fifteen lead changes in
seven ties. Our stat of the game is the rebounding
(17:49):
forty seven to thirty four in favor of the Wolves,
fourteen offensive rebounds, nineteen second chance points, although they mostly
did that damage in the first half with nine offensive
rebounds in the first two quarters and twelve second chance points.
The Sixers and the Timberwolves tonight in Philadelphia, and as
we always do on the Parks Casino Postgame Show, let's
(18:10):
listen back to the game from start to finish with
some of the highlight calls. Here's how it sounded, as
called by Tom McGinnis. The Sixers and the Wolves in Philadelphia,
a Spirit of seventy six City Edition night presented by
Crypto dot Com with the Sixers in the white Spectrum
themed uniforms, Minnesota in gray Statement Edition uniforms with lime green.
(18:35):
They started Jared Butler Quinton Grimes, Justin Edwards, gersha Yabusele,
and Adem Bona again without eight players, plus Jeff Diduten
junior and Alex Reese inactive on two way contracts, and
one more sixer went down in game which we'll get to.
The Wolves only one player on the injury report, rookie
number twenty seven overall pick, Terrence Shannon Junior. First quarter,
(18:59):
with the Timberwolves coming in on a four game winning
streak and a thirteen and three record in their last sixteen,
and the Sixers having lost ten straight. Early action in
a game that featured fifteen lead changes Minnesota, Anthony Edwards,
fourth in the NBA, coming in and scoring twenty seven
point three points per game. A first quarter drive and
look out.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
Here's Edwards striving, oh Man. Look out below, a nasty
slam man that has to crowd many.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
Of whom It was in a eight to seven game,
so very early stages and the Sixers were leading. We'll
hear more from Edwards, particularly from beyond the arc, where
he joined a pretty small club in terms of three
point shooting that coming later. It was his third three
(19:46):
pointer of the game.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
That did that.
Speaker 2 (19:49):
After one it was twenty seven twenty three Minnesota. Into
the second quarter, men talked about offensive rebounding. Minnesota used
that to their advantage. After Jalen hood s Chafino of
Philadelphia had the first basket of the second, the Wolves
(20:09):
had an eleven to nothing scoring run capped by Gobar
in the paint.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
And Alexander Walker will fire for three. That's still good.
Rudy jams it though. Wow, Rudy Gobert over two six
ers and he went up for the left hand and
then stuffed it and once again the Timberwolves bench up celebrating.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
That's the thirteen point Wolves Lee. At thirty eight twenty five,
Gobert had twenty three points and nineteen rebounds, eight of
the rebounds offensively. He had eleven first half points and
five first half offensive rebound He had a double up
through the first two quarters, eleven and ten overall in
that thirty eight twenty five lead. But Gershaon Yabuselee had
(20:56):
a monster jam in the first half, one of his own,
and here comes Yaboo flying in, plus the foul turnover.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
Not a good sequence there for Minnesota, dabbling. Yaboo Slee
with a slam and he's foul. But they had a
breakdown right there offensively, and it kind of costs him
at this end defensively. Yabou slee right down Frost Street
with a two hand jam.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
Forty one thirty three plus the free throw forty one
thirty four. The Sixers cutting in, but after nine first
half offensive rebounds between the quarters for the visitors and
a twelve to two advantage in second chance points, including
the last points of the second, it was a fifty
(21:42):
five fifty one Timberwolves lead at halftime. Jared Butler after
ten second quarter points for the lead in a third
quarter that the Sixers would lead. At the third buzzer.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
They're up three. Butler with a left ten lamp and good.
This is his time of the year. Well, it's April.
He's known for march Man and his fifteen points for Butler.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
He ended with sixteen points and a game high eight
assists Jared Butler to put the Sixers up sixty seven,
sixty six to twenty twenty one NCAA Final four Most
Outstanding Player for the champion Baylor Bears, and the Sixers
gave up zero offensive boards in the third, turned the
(22:32):
Timberwolves over six times and led eighty three eighty two
going into the fourth. Now keep in mind Quinton Grimes,
who did give the Sixers a lead again later in
that third after Butler did so earlier in the frame.
He only had eleven points through three, and he would
(22:55):
finish with another very high scoring game before we get
to the closing sequences, which involved Grimes and Anthony Edwards.
By the way, at halftime, Justin Edwards of the Sixers
was ruled out due to a rib contusion. He had
five points in eleven first half minutes. But Anthony Edwards
(23:17):
of the Timberwolves in the third quarter, after the game
was tied at eighty seven, he hits back to back
threes in what became a twelve nothing Timberwolves scoring.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
Run, and here comes Edwards again beyond the arc. Three
point shot got it back to back freeze, and he's
had six straight games with at least three pointers.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
So coming in he went back into second place for
three in the NBA behind Detroit's Malik Beasley. They're on
a back to back, so Detroit played tonight, but they
both were right on the verge of three hundred threes.
And when he tied the game, or when he hit
the first of those back to backs and broke the
tie ninety eighty seven. That was his three hundredth of
(24:04):
the season, and then he hit that one for a
ninety three eighty seven lead, made six tonight to go
to three to zero three on the season, and even
though Beasley did it earlier in the night, it's Edward's
becoming the fifth player in NBA history with a three
hundred three pointer season. Steph Curry's done it five times,
(24:25):
James Harden once, Klay Thompson once, and Malik Beasley of
the Pistons earlier tonight, so they both reached three hundred
on the same night, but that was in during a
big Timberwolves surge. With three twenty four left in regulation,
the Sixers were within seven and Julius Randall answered out
(24:47):
of a timeout, but Grinds hit a three and then Grimes.
Speaker 1 (24:50):
Again, Grimes around one man into the lane. Gobert comes
out to guard hum and Grimes fires at three. Hen
A's ten. He pours it up and good over Rudy Gobert,
Sixers cut the lead in half.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
It's three, one oh four, one oh one after trailing
by eleven not too much before that, and Abusele cutting
it to nine Grimes hitting back to back threes. He
scored seventeen in the fourth, twenty six in the second
half twenty eight in the game, like Edwards made six threes,
(25:27):
Quentin was six for ten from long range. Anthony Edwards
was six for thirteen, and here come a couple of
those in the clutch for Edwards. It was one o four,
one oh one. After the second Grimes three sixers had
two more points, but Edwards put the Wolves up one
oh seven one oh three. There was a review for
a foul on Grimes. This the Wolves had a side
(25:50):
out of bounds with not a lot of time left
and a double team on Edwards on the right wing.
And here's the dagger.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
Right back to Edwards. Three to shoot. He's trapped, he dribbles,
he shoots, it's up, it's gone, and it probable pray
by Anthony Edwards. Ed Minnesota was seven point three to go.
Has taken a five point league.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
And they would win the game by that score, one fourteen,
one oh nine. Edwards played the most in the game,
thirty eight minutes and twelve seconds, had twenty four of
his thirty seven points in the second half, went twelve
for twenty one from the field, the six for thirteen
from deep and seven for eight at the line. They
took fourteen more free throw attempts, then the seventy six
(26:37):
Ers made twelve more, did miss eight overall, but their
forty six and thirty two the Sixers are twenty three
and fifty five with Miami on Monday. We'll talk to
you then, but that'll do it for this edition of
the seventy six Ers Post game Show presented by Parks Casino.
(26:58):
Again the final score the Timberwolves one fourteen, the seventy
six Ers one oh nine. Thanks to our engineer Marty Dickerson,
producers Carl Namoli and Mike Morano, and of course Tom
McGinnis on the call, and a special shout out to
