In this conversation, Minnesota Tim discusses the performance of Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold, highlighting his impressive start to the season and drawing parallels to his previous experiences with the Carolina Panthers. He emphasizes the potential for both success and failure, urging caution as Darnold's past suggests that early success does not guarantee a strong finish. Tim warns listeners to remain skeptical and not to get overly excited about Darnold's current performance, as history has shown that he can falter after a promising start.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
I am about to share with you a very scary
reality about Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Donald. The national media
has hopped on board.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Stephen A. Smith has changed his opinion.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Dan Orlowski, who's been a lover of Sam Donald even
before the season started, talked about putting Sam Donald in
his top five QBS this season, and he has been great.
Leads the NFL on touchdown passes with eight touchdowns, has
two picks. He's played efficient and effective football this past offseason.

(00:46):
I predicted that Sam Donald will shock the world with
how he performs this season, and so far we are
seeing exactly that.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Now.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
I'm not going to throw a parade for myself because
that At the same time, it also predicted the Minnesota
Vikings to finish with a.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Five and twelve overall records.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
I hope there's no chance for that because that would
mean they would have to finish the season two and
twelve something like that, because they're three and zero. So
let's hope that they don't finish. That's hope they don't
crap the bed that badly. But here's the scary reality

(01:31):
about Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold. This is not the
first time he has started a season three and zher
with his team.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
In twenty twenty one, he was.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
The quarterback for the Carolina Panthers football team QB one,
and let's take a look at their schedule in twenty
twenty one. Week one versus the New York Jets, they
defeated them nineteen to fourteen. Week two versus the Saints,
they beat them twenty six to seven. Week three versus

(02:11):
the Houston Texans, they beat him twenty four to nine,
three and zero with Matt Ruhle as his NFL head coach,
and then the drop off happens. A Week four loss
of the Cowboys, a Week five loss to the Eagles,

(02:33):
a Week six loss to the Minnesota Vikings, and a
Week seven loss to the New York Giants. Won three lost,
four won the next one lost win lost loss loss
loss loss loss loss, and he didn't start all those
games at the end of the year because he eventually
got benched. But let's take a look at Sam Darnold's

(02:56):
game log for that season, because maybe he wasn't performing
that well.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Maybe it was just you know, your defense carrying it.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
They only scored fourteen point seven points and nine points
and I'm gonna get into that in a little bit more.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
In a second.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
But let's take a look at Sam Donald's performances himself
during those games. Oops, I shared the wrong screen. Please
bear with me for a second. Well, I played this
whole music. Oh, here we go wrong one again?

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Here we go? Wait one second? How many times can
I mess this up?

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Here we go?

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Let's go.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
All right. Sam Donald's game log in twenty twenty one
and Week one it was against the New York Jets
twenty four for thirty five sixty eight percent completion percentage,
one touchdown, zero interceptions. It's a pretty darn good ball
game for him.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
Week two versus the New Orleans Saints twenty six for
thirty eight sixty eight percent completion percentage three hundred and
five yards, two touchdowns, one pick. Another very good ball
game for Sam Darnald. Week three on the road against
the Houston Texans twenty three for thirty four sixty seven

(04:33):
percent completion percentage three hundred and four yards, zero touchdowns,
zero interceptions.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Sure, he doesn't have as many touchdown.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Passes as he has this season with the Minnesota Vikings.
During his first three games in twenty twenty one. But
these are darn good ballgames by Sam Darnald, and he
had the Carolina Panthers fan base and the organization thinking

(05:04):
that this was the place that he was going to
turn his team and their season around. He had believers
in him after the first three games because.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
He just needed to get out of New York.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
And right now, the same thing is happening with the
Minnesota Vikings.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Now listen closely, are you listening.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
I am not saying that Sam Darnold is going to
go through the same process with the Minnesota Vikings. Better situation,
better head coach, better organization, better defense, all of that stuff.
But he has started the season three and zero before,
and he had the organization and the fan base and

(05:57):
I'm sure the national media thinking that this was the stop,
that this was the place where Sam Donald would flourish
as quarterback in the NFL. Well, then the following week
the Packers two touchdowns, two picks, which wasn't a bad performance.
Philadelphia one touchdown, three picks, Minnesota one touchdown, one pick,

(06:22):
Giants zero touchdowns, one pick, Atlanta Falcons zero touchdown.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Zero picks. All these are in twenty twenty one.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
And then after the Falcons game Patriots, zero touchdowns, three picks,
and then he got benched, didn't start again from November
seventh all the way until December twenty sixth.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
So all I'm saying is that Sam Donald has been
here before.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
I didn't watch him with the Carolina Panthers, but he
has started a season three and zero, and he had
believers in him into twenty one. I'm not saying it's
gonna happen again. I'm not saying he's going to have
a complete catastrophic failure.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
For the Minnesota Vikings the rest of the season.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
But it's not outside the realm of possibilities either. Okay, Sam,
I am mister Sam Darnald could be.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
Faking us all out. Now.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
We all were believers in Josh Dobbs too. Dob Sanity
was going crazy last year. ESPN was talking about a
Good Morning Football, was talking about Cavin O'Connell, Josh Jobs,
what a force.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
The same thing could happen with Sam Donald.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
I'm not saying it's going to happen, but it could,
so I don't want you to be surprised to be like, what, well,
where where did this come from?

Speaker 2 (07:58):
What happened before?

Speaker 1 (07:59):
Heard it here. It happened once, it could happen again.
So just a warning, just a warning. Don't need to
be all offended.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Don't get all tidy whitey and get wedgies and whatever. Huh.
Don't get mad at me.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
I'm just the messenger delivering facts about the Minnesota Vikings
quarterback Sam Darnald. But you know, believe it, have opinions,
do whatever you gotta do. But I think what's fair.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
To say is that.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
This run of Sam Darnold eight touchdowns, zero two picks
is not gonna happen again during the course of the
next three games. He's not gonna have sixteen touchdowns and
four picks following the Packers Jets and it's a bye week,
but then got the Lions. He is not going to

(09:04):
have sixteen touchdowns four picks at the end of the
Lions game.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
I would bet money on that.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
So we'll see what Sam Darnold we get versus the
green bit Packers on the road in a hostile environment.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
Thank you for watching.
