They had front-row seats to all the action on Glee as dancers for all six seasons!

Brittany Parks and Hannah Douglass join Jenna and Kevin to give a different perspective on the Glee experience, including their audition process, the demanding schedules, the dance routines that went right and the ones that went wrong, and the performance that repeatedly got them in trouble!

Kevin also reveals why he was always sneaking into dance rehearsals (hint - it involves Beyoncé), and the ladies share what the dance community really thought about performing on Glee!

Speaker 1 (00:01):
And That's what You Really Missed with Jenna.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
And Kevin an iHeartRadio podcast.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
Welcome to you and That's what You Really miss podcast.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
We've got a two for one special today. I'm so excited.
Brittany Parks. Yes, Hannah Douglas tell us about them, Kevin.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Two of the best people, most talented dancers. They were
on Glee from the very beginning. They went on both tours.
Brittany ended up becoming a sister choreographer. Like family, Glee
family BFFs. You've seen them if you've gone to a

(00:43):
pop concert, like you've seen them dance for someone exactly.
They're just the best and some unsung heroes of Glee.
You know they're great. So here is Hannah Douglas and
Brittany Park.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Oh God, you guys, welcome.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
It's good to see you.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
My face already hurts. The gangs all back together.

Speaker 5 (01:14):
Sure are.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Thanks for being here. Really excited to talk to you.
I feel like we learn a lot from people about
their experiences on our on the show, and you guys
had a very different experience than us.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Can you both just share with us?

Speaker 3 (01:34):
I feel like a good way to start is like,
how you what was your do you remember what your
first number was and how you got the call to
join the show or Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:47):
So Zach had an audition for vocal Adrenaline and I
was like, great, it was like lip sinking. I was like,
I'm sold. So we did Proud Marry the whole thing.
It was amazing. Actually, I left the room and I
left something in the room and I came back after
like my audition slot and the next audition slot was happening,

(02:09):
and I came back in and Zach was like I
had never met before.

Speaker 5 (02:12):
But he was like you can you show everyone how
to do this? And I was like, oh god, what
I know.

Speaker 6 (02:18):
It was the biggest compliment, probably the best audition I've
ever had in sixteen years.

Speaker 7 (02:23):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
So then yeah, I like booked it, booked it. I felt.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Did you remember that? I remember that choreo still?

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Really? And you were there too? Yeah at the same time.

Speaker 8 (02:38):
Yeah, so was the pilot before that? Britt Or did
we audition and then do the pilot?

Speaker 5 (02:43):
We auditioned and then did the pilot?

Speaker 8 (02:45):
Okay, because I couldn't remember the audition. I remember the audition,
but I don't remember the order. Because I remember when
we did the pilot. I did the pilot and I
was like, we did one singular sensation.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
I go was like in the in the Glee club, like.

Speaker 9 (02:57):
I don't know how I got there, somebody put me there, yes,
And then I remember Brooke being like Brooke and Zach
were like, you guys are really dumb, like I don't
think most of you will ever come back again. I
was like, yeah, that that tracks like, oh my god,
I weren't driving came back. Thank god it has a
cheerio and they were like, let's put you in the
dumb group like thriving.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
I was thrilled, a really dumb.

Speaker 8 (03:20):
You know, but honestly it was actually like it was
the time of my life, truly, like there was.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
No better gig and we just yeah.

Speaker 8 (03:27):
I remember the audition to we were lift, thinking it
was proud to marry right Broo Mary?

Speaker 1 (03:33):
So random?

Speaker 5 (03:34):
What was the I go.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
And oh yeah, rehab rehab.

Speaker 6 (03:42):
I had never been lifted before my entire life. Poor
Mike Ratio lift my beans. And then I'm like, oh
my gosh. And then after that episode, Zach was like,
we should probably.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
Put you with the cheerios where you're not being over
thank god.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
Thank god, thank God so tall, right.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
I also love like, so we're on season we just
started season four of the show, and there was a
number like Casey Joe pops up. It's like I seem like,
I'm pretty sure he was also a Warbler and not
Warbler vocal journaline. At some point, like all the dancers
just sort of keeping because Zach and Brooke I felt like,
created a really strong unit like core of all of

(04:30):
you and just like I know I can depend on them.
They're great, They're great to work with, nice people, very talented.
Let's just keep having you back in every part of
the show. We can put you in.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Totally.

Speaker 8 (04:43):
And we rolled with the punches, Like as far as
getting made fun of, we loved it. We were okay,
make fun of us all day. We are the best
candidates for that, and it just that worked.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Well, okay, good, that's good.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
So then you were in the Cheerios and there were
a lot of like really big Cheerio numbers at that point,
keep me hanging on bust the windows like you guys
are in such plus the windows, great numbers. But then
did you ever transfer over because you were in competition dances?

(05:15):
Like did they just say like bring in Hannah and
Brian Brittany, we need them right now.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
I feel like britt Brett had a lot to do
with that. I think all a couple of towns be
like is.

Speaker 5 (05:27):
There any room for cheerios here?

Speaker 6 (05:28):
And Zach would be like, no, you and Hannah I
had no idea.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
So you just sort of were like, hey, I think
you could use a couple like your bodies here.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
It's like this coreo is really fun. I think actually
I should.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
So once you audition and you met Zach, like you
didn't have to.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
Like they just called you for numbers after that, like
there was no point where they were like Ryan wants
to see everybody for this number.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
No, no, thank god. What about the tour? How did
that work? Oh god, how did that work?

Speaker 4 (06:05):
That is such a good question. How did how did
that work?

Speaker 7 (06:08):
Well?

Speaker 6 (06:08):
The first tour was like you know, that was I
think just like whoever was there, because I feel like
we brought like all of vocal adrenaline there.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Was like yes, yes.

Speaker 6 (06:16):
But then the second tour I think he just like
went with the people that a like meshed with y'all,
with the cast that was like also important, and then
like yeah, he kind of.

Speaker 5 (06:28):
Chose like people that had been there for quite some time.

Speaker 8 (06:31):
Yeah, you know, it was like personality based, which was
super important and truly the time of our lives, like
I Britt and I talked about the tour like true,
this was the time of our life, like my favorite store.
Out of all tours by far, the stakes were very
low for us.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
The best time.

Speaker 8 (06:53):
Yeah, I mean, like you guys, many of you guys,
and it was just us kind of like filling in
the blank and having a great time.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
We had the best time.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
We had the best time to like as even though.

Speaker 6 (07:06):
We were just just dancers, like we felt like we
were our own entity, Like we felt important.

Speaker 5 (07:13):
Everyone's screaming for me, even though they we were.

Speaker 7 (07:16):
So lulu.

Speaker 6 (07:20):
Everyone bring on, No one's really looking at us, but
we felt like such stars. We felt like such individuals
on that tour, which is like so rare, like in
a dance like yourself.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Yeah, that makes sense because I feel like too, like
a lot of I mean, you guys can correct me
if I'm wrong, but a lot of growing up learning
like doing dance is about creating like a beautiful image
as a unit, as a collective, sort of stripping you
of like the individuality of it, and Glee was the
opposite in terms of like the characters that were in it,

(07:54):
and then in the dancing was like from workout, everyone
just make it your own, and especially because it's high school,
it's like.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
Yes and that tour.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Also, I don't think people understand like how much we
needed you, like not just like physically and emotionally, like
we needed you to like like what did we do?

Speaker 4 (08:21):
I just have like we were you guys right, we were.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
Like, yeah, we each of us for a scot.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
Yes. I was Amber.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
I remember looking up and you're showing Amber like where
she goes, and you're like doing some dancing, like this
is great.

Speaker 4 (08:38):
I looked at it one time.

Speaker 8 (08:39):
I was like I got a girl. Yeah anyhow, She's
like I can watch this with my house. I meanwhile,
I don't know my own steps or her so I
was lost in the saus.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
But well, yeah, you're learning all these things for the
first time, and like we had done them on the
show already, so it's like muscle memory.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
You're like, oh, yeah, this thing, okay, just remind me
where I stepped.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
You know, y'all had.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
Like no time.

Speaker 6 (09:00):
Y'all shot for ten months and then y'all had like,
what a week and a half off?

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Three days? No, three days?

Speaker 4 (09:08):
Okay, and didn't everyone get a stomach book. I'm pretty sure.

Speaker 8 (09:11):
Amberda, Yeah, yes, I think the first time I ended
up doing my real track was like the day of
the show because couldn't come in. I can't remember her.
She was right, and then she made it in for
the day of the show, thank god. And I'll still
work in such a pro I didn't need any rehearsal,
but yeah, but I just remember being like, what are
my steps?

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Where do I go?

Speaker 4 (09:32):
Crying to bread in the corner.

Speaker 6 (09:33):
I'm sure a bath for y'all because, like I mean,
obviously y'all are exhausted. And then like we were like
Zach had this, Oh my god, Zach had this. Remember
those notebooks that we gave yes.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
Religion, I have the one Kyle made me. I have
it somewhere. Yes, we were.

Speaker 6 (09:53):
So proud of those notebooks. We had so many drafts.
We like made them go out and give us more notebooks.
But like when we had in them, it was like, okay,
thank you, like and it felt like.

Speaker 5 (10:03):
Good to like, you know, help any sort of way
that we could, you know, it.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Was so nice.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
I just remember Zach being like, Okay, now watch these
clowns up here. They're you and you're like and I
remember all of us like with our jaws like on
the ground, like what and and we're like, we have
so many questions. He's like, just shut up and watch them.
You're gonna go off. They're gonna teach it to you
and then you're gonna know it. And he was totally right,

(10:31):
like it was the most brilliant concept of like it
really wasn't.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
It's very efficient, but I remember us being like, what
is this?

Speaker 2 (10:40):
But I think that only works because we trusted all
of you, Like we had worked with you for two
years now a lot, and we had all become friends
outside of it, and so it wasn't just like here
are random people. Still would have gotten done, but there's
like that extra level of like cheering for each other, yeah,
and like love between all of us that we're just.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
Like, oh my god, what are we doing?

Speaker 2 (11:03):
We don't know, we don't know what we're doing. Yep,
I don't know what I'm doing either, And it was
sort of we just got to get through it. Yeah,
there's nothing more humbling than watching like a d excellent dancers.
Do what you're supposed to be doing, Like I'm shit,
nobody else I got to see that.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
Version so incredible.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
So now back to the show for a second. So
because it was like so obviously we were all working
off the same kind of schedule where we wouldn't get
a script until the day before we started shooting, and
then Zach had to go do it. The music had
to go happen and then we would learn it. Like
for you guys, did you get how fast were you
called in for numbers? Like what was the context like

(11:46):
of when you got to rehearsal? Did you know what
you were doing? Did Zach even explain it to you
guys what you were doing? Like what was that like?

Speaker 8 (11:56):
We did so I'll speak because brit was on the
other side and I just showed up and someone told
me what to do, which was wonderful, but it was
a part of the process, the madness before that, So
I missed all that, I will say, so like as
just a dancer coming and not knowing other than like
the inside I got via like text and on the
side and.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Stuff I never you knew you were always getting.

Speaker 8 (12:16):
It was like so organized by the time we got there,
it was so clear and there was no any no
indication that it was insane fag minus before, which I'm
pretty sure it was.

Speaker 4 (12:27):
You can figure that.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
How many rehearsals did you guys usually have just one
before or did it? Was it on the day? Like
what was that?

Speaker 4 (12:33):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (12:33):
Yeah, sometimes if it was like something small, we would
have it on the day, But for the most part,
like we had like four rehearsals. I would say, maybe
like for nationals, sometimes we would even have two rehearsals.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
Yeah, a luxury too too, Yeah.

Speaker 6 (12:49):
Added to the SAG insurance. Okay, okay, it was nice
because yeah, we would have some time. But I would say, like,
so Zach would get the script, you know, at the
beginning of the week, and it would be like kind
of clear what we like they would need dance wise,
and also like dancer wise, so it would be like
put the veils out right away, and we went here
pretty quickly, Like I think we'd get put on a

(13:12):
veil and then maybe like a day later, if not
that day, I'd like, you're booked and then we come.

Speaker 4 (13:17):
In so efficient.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
So wow, so you both started on the show at
the same time.

Speaker 8 (13:31):
Yeah, I just was in with you guys in one
one direction for once for one minute, and then I
I made it. I have no idea what I like,
don't know the context. It was so early. I didn't
understand what's going on. I never knew what was going
on ninety percent of the time anyway, but I would
just I showed up saying one singular sensation and then
went home and was like, what was that?

Speaker 4 (13:50):
That was a great time.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
I got cut from that number. I showed up to
do that number, like, actually, you're not in this number anymore.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
It was like, cool, cool, cool, Okay.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
We did in the cut it, so that's why you
It was an old glee club or I can't remember
what what was the premise cabinant of one?

Speaker 2 (14:06):
Was it the glee club under Sandy Ryerson? Like, was
it like what the glee club was before she came in?

Speaker 3 (14:12):
No, well, we were in it, yeah, but I think
that's oh, I see, okay.

Speaker 4 (14:16):
Maybe maybe no context, Yeah it wasn't.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
It would make sense what I say.

Speaker 4 (14:19):
One direction. It wasn't new direction yet.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
Right, Like, no, it wasn't new directions yet, but we
were there.

Speaker 4 (14:25):
I don't know, Yeah, I know, you guys were there
so I don't know I have any It was a
stupid right after that.

Speaker 8 (14:31):
I came in for Teerio before Britt, but when Britt
was partnering her life away over there, you know, actually
we did full out. We were pretty full out too.
We did some serious choreo as teos.

Speaker 7 (14:41):
You did.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
Bust your Windows was a revelation.

Speaker 4 (14:44):
Oh my god, bus your windows was time.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
I feel like that's also where I got to like
bond with you more because we got to actually see
it yeah and sit there and I was like, damn,
I do I want to learn that?

Speaker 1 (14:57):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (14:57):
It was so good.

Speaker 2 (14:59):
Knew Heather. It's like you also, like both of you,
both of you knew Heather before the show. So there
was also that it was just like everybody was coming
in like, oh, these are my friends. Yeah, so we
were all therefore friends.

Speaker 1 (15:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (15:16):
It did feel really like a seamless transition into the altogether.

Speaker 4 (15:20):
I think, yeah, because.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
I can't I don't know a world in which there wasn't.
Like we were all just always on it together.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
Totally.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
We like, oh we get to work with all the
answers today like friends. But what was it like and
when did you start? When did you become col choreographer
and what was that conversation.

Speaker 5 (15:44):
Oh my gosh, I'll never forget it.

Speaker 6 (15:47):
I was on set first, which we were outside at
that high school with the bright light bright sunshine, yes, yes, yess, lightning,
and we had done some sort of scene this season
three and he was like, Zach, we were almost.

Speaker 5 (16:09):
Picking tape on.

Speaker 6 (16:10):
Zach was like, would you ever be interested in like
assisting and I was like I'm sorry what He was
like thing and just helping out me and Brooke, and
I was like absolutely.

Speaker 5 (16:21):
And growing up, I like did choreography. I assisted. I've
always taught all my life, but I never.

Speaker 6 (16:27):
Until that exact moment, I never thought that I could
take it into a career offered me in that position,
I was like yeah. And of course, like the first
like six months, it was like me getting coffee and
I was like yeah. I was like yeah, they're like
this and I was like yeah, they were like send
an email and I was like, Okay, it's going to
take me.

Speaker 8 (16:54):
Also, though, what Britt will never say about herself, I'm sure,
but I will say it, because like Britt could tease
anyone to dance, yes see one, and like it's like
a language that only brit can interpret watching someone try
to learn and be like no, no, no, they don't
need counts.

Speaker 4 (17:11):
They need rhythm, they need.

Speaker 8 (17:13):
To hear body parts to move, or they need to
hear lyrics, or they need to hear It's crazy. Like
watching it, I'm like, oh my god, she just interpreted
how they speak dance and then taught it back to Wow,
like such a testament only because there were so many
of you guys and so everyone differently Zach and Brook also,
but like, yes, it was.

Speaker 4 (17:32):
Just like such a prode it and it was like
me too included.

Speaker 8 (17:35):
I'm like, excuse me, ma'am, you please me in my
language now because excuse.

Speaker 4 (17:40):
Me, ma'am. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
Well, I think that was a surprising thing for Zach
and Brook when it first started, when they realized like, oh,
we don't have dancers at all. Really, we have some
people who have had like a tiny even of about
you know, dancers background, but not even and so I
think they were like, oh, we're in for something very
different than we had expected. We didn't even have to
dance to audition, that was not a part of the requirements,

(18:04):
and so you could see like exact stays like oh, okay, okay,
So what was it like for you guys to then
be like, oh, these people don't dance, brit We I thrive.

Speaker 1 (18:15):
Well.

Speaker 6 (18:16):
Also, what's so funny exactly because didn't Kevin, didn't you
dance at the audition? And then when he got this
was like, great, he's in a wheelchair.

Speaker 4 (18:24):
Hey, awesome.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
No, I just when we got to rehearsal, the very
first rehearsal of the pilot rehearsal. I I don't know
how it came up, but he knew I had some
dance experience. I don't know if I said I was
in a boy band or something, but he knew. And
so then I filled in for Corey for like two weeks,

(18:46):
that's right, because Corey couldn't like legally work in the
US yet, that's right. So then I was like learning
how to use a wheelchair and then also was learning
all of I mean quote dances. It was just a
lot of walking with intention. It was not even the
gay hands yet. It was simply just trying to do
a diagonal or straight line.

Speaker 10 (19:06):
It was.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
Important work that we did not get for at least
a season.

Speaker 4 (19:12):
Y'all had it down by the end. Are you kidding.

Speaker 5 (19:17):
Dancing with y'all, it was like I feel like it
was probably because y'all.

Speaker 6 (19:21):
Were like going and recording and then going and shooting,
and then you'd have to come to a dance rehearsal
and then you'd go and shoot again. Like I feel
like it was probably like anytime we would have to
teach y'all or be in the room with y'all, I'm
sure like it was probably like, oh my god, we're
in the room with these dancers, but like our patients
and like the way that y'all, y'all learned a lot
quicker than you think.

Speaker 5 (19:42):
Oh yeah, like I was. I mean I was.

Speaker 6 (19:45):
You took a couple of seasons, but I was able
to get core dancing like no other.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
Like that's right.

Speaker 5 (19:51):
He was learning choreo right and left.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
Yeah, but.

Speaker 5 (19:58):
You know, so it got better and better.

Speaker 8 (20:00):
Yeah, we did skeleton crew sometimes in the episodes too,
I feel yeah, Yeah, we'd come in and learn all.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
And then yeah, that's how crazy it was. Yeah, you
guys would do skeleton during the regular season.

Speaker 6 (20:12):
Wow, Like Zach would be on set, Broke would be
on location with y'all, and then like I would have
to be somewhere else like it was it called crazy.

Speaker 1 (20:20):
Yeah, I did, and there was no time.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
I was the I wish I could like explain to
people like how because a lot of times, like having
people on here giving to like give their perspective is
so nice because you know, we worked with hundreds of
people every single day, but there was something about like
the group of dancers and like the glee club that

(20:47):
were just one and the same and so like we yeah,
and we because also you know what it's like when
you're performing with somebody that's a specific type of bond
as well, and then you guys know what it's like
to go on tour with us. You guys started on
the show before anybody had seen it, before it became
what it was, so you were literally there for the

(21:09):
entire experience. So like when we try to say or
describe what the experience was like, not many people got
the same perspective that we had, but you guys sort
of did because you were physically with us everywhere. Yeah,
Like whenever we got to experience like people like fans
enjoying it, you were there too, seeing what it was like.

(21:31):
Like what was that like for you guys to like
start when nobody knew what the show was to then
end up at the E two for seven nights in
a row on tour, and yeah, you both have been
on gigantic tours and have done gigantic performances like at
the super Bowl and shit, so like maybe it's a

(21:51):
little different.

Speaker 8 (21:53):
It was insane, honestly, I mean it was insane. It
was like phones weren't what they are now.

Speaker 5 (21:58):
We signed up for Twitter on tour.

Speaker 4 (22:00):
Wow, we had nothing like it was.

Speaker 8 (22:02):
That's how like vintage the time was as far as
like like that type of we didn't feel it the
way you might now, you know what I mean, like
until you got into those arenas. But like I think
we were also delulu too that we were like, yes,
why wouldn't everyone want to come and watch this show?
Like there was no We didn't question it, question the fame.

(22:22):
We were like, yes, absolutely, everyone's here to see all
of us, as they should because we're such a great
time and we're having such a great time, and we
were by the way, there was no.

Speaker 4 (22:34):
We weren't confused as to why it was happening. It
was like a phenomenon that we didn't understand.

Speaker 8 (22:39):
I feel like we wrapped our heads around it as
if it was just part of it, which is so
delusional in hindsight.

Speaker 6 (22:44):
But like Quint though, because it's like I don't even
think that we really recognized like the gradual build up.

Speaker 5 (22:52):
We just were more and more fun.

Speaker 6 (22:55):
Yeah that like Glee was like a hit, but not
only that, like we as a family were a hit.

Speaker 5 (23:03):
Like the dancers, Like like we.

Speaker 6 (23:05):
Had had I guess six hundred and fifty six dancers
total on Glee. Yeah, we ended up counting going through
what old thing? Yes, yes, episodes and that's like I
don't know any other show that.

Speaker 1 (23:19):
Can employing an entire community. That's cool, that's really cool. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (23:24):
So like but every single one of us, like we
still to this day, like what it's been how many
years since glea has been off? Like people still talk
about it, like and even like people that didn't get.

Speaker 5 (23:35):
Hired on Glee, they'll be like, oh I wanted to
be on Glee messed out.

Speaker 6 (23:43):
Wow, Yes it was fame, but it was more so
family that grew into like an and to watch it's like.

Speaker 8 (23:51):
I wouldn't say like as a dancer, that necessarily made
our notoriety as a dancer like it wasn't like, oh
that girls a.

Speaker 4 (23:58):
Glee dancer, like right.

Speaker 5 (24:01):
In and not.

Speaker 8 (24:02):
It just there was the impact was like, Wow, what
a fun show to be a part of them, So
like that looks like the most fun community, the most
I know, encouraging atmosphere to work and everything about it
was just like a positive experience. Nobody could say a
bad thing about it in the dance part in the
dance world for us anyway, and it was just like
that was just the show to be on as far
as like enjoying your life as a dancer.

Speaker 7 (24:27):
Yeah right, you guys.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
I mean, Hannah, I know you're saying, how good Brittany
is it teaching? But so are you and you both
like outside of the show have taught us many so
people who listen to this podcast, not like the Dance
Studio was the ten Chid at first, which was a
hot box of death, and then we got the Powerhouse,
which was this gigantic thing that they really built out

(25:01):
to like the specifications of what we needed. And then
sometimes we'd sneak on there. I didn't even know if
we were supposed to do this and have like dance
class on the weekends.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (25:12):
Cute I don't think I was around for that.

Speaker 1 (25:15):
You were busy.

Speaker 4 (25:17):
Let's do it.

Speaker 1 (25:18):
Can we go back there?

Speaker 2 (25:19):
Yeah, you were booked and busy because sometimes Yeah, that's
when I think Brittany taught as a Beyonce our first
Beyonce number.

Speaker 4 (25:28):
Remember you guys knew everything was a girls from the world.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
It was the end of time and it was get
me bodied. Yeah, because I still I'll be out in
public and get me bodied.

Speaker 1 (25:42):
I'm like the partner.

Speaker 2 (25:44):
This is the partnering section, like where I can't do
this with it look crazy.

Speaker 5 (25:52):
Tell everyone to run off, and then we'd all just
like freeze.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
Well, the amount of parties, Poor Brittany, the amount of parties.
We'd make her perform that end of time and just
hope that she wouldn't mind doing it. For the fiftieth time.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
I did.

Speaker 5 (26:07):
It was fine.

Speaker 2 (26:08):
Yeah, yeah, we were. We were feeling good.

Speaker 4 (26:11):
We sure were for all all the years.

Speaker 3 (26:15):
Do you have many numbers that stick out in your mind,
whether it be so you got injured, it was really hard,
where it was really fun, or something that went wrong.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
Do you have any like.

Speaker 4 (26:26):
So many? I mean.

Speaker 8 (26:29):
We're partnered one time, which is oh well, for I
will survive yes.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
We were on the top, the very top of the risers.

Speaker 8 (26:40):
It was a set of risers and we were at
the very top in the back and there was no back,
like there was no backtop, so you just fall off
the back.

Speaker 4 (26:48):
And we were doing like I don't know what we're doing.

Speaker 8 (26:51):
We're partnering, or we were walking side to side and
we looked like dumb and dummer and Brooke or Brooke
came up, or Zach who came up.

Speaker 6 (26:58):
Brooke came up and was like, Zach said, y'all look crazy,
and we were like, oh, gosh, okay, okay, let's figure
it out.

Speaker 5 (27:04):
We did. We did well. We didn't figure it out
just yet because it.

Speaker 6 (27:08):
Was literally like the smallest riser, like when you looked down,
it was just black and us too, like just like
trying to like.

Speaker 5 (27:15):
Figure it out. Then brookeme.

Speaker 6 (27:17):
After one take, Brooke came up again. It was like
we were like, it is it better? And she was like, good,
how there's just something something that's going on. She was
like it just looks a little awkward. She was like
just trying to fix it. We do another take and
then finally Zach comes on stage.

Speaker 5 (27:32):
He goes, what's happening.

Speaker 4 (27:35):
It's like, why do y'all look insane. I'm like, we're terrified.

Speaker 7 (27:39):
Oh my, we changed it.

Speaker 4 (27:41):
I think we stayed there. I'm sure it's in there.
I'm sure it's gonna go back.

Speaker 2 (27:45):
Those Troubletone numbers were so good.

Speaker 1 (27:49):
Oh my god, that was real choreo in those numbers.
That's wine.

Speaker 4 (27:55):
Also the dinosaur head one.

Speaker 1 (27:57):
Finish that one, Oh my god, that was.

Speaker 4 (28:00):
A good time.

Speaker 8 (28:01):
I remember we had like could you see holes in
our like held after it was a crank you cranked
it on like, which was brilliant.

Speaker 4 (28:09):
Honestly, customs signed brilliant and they were huge and we
were doing a lot of jump drop splits.

Speaker 7 (28:14):
It was wild.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
Could you see at all?

Speaker 8 (28:17):
I think we could see front there's a peripheral Ah.

Speaker 6 (28:21):
I had that big of a headache the following day,
Like you didn't want the dinosaur heads to fall off.

Speaker 5 (28:28):
We were like, oh a bruises cross our foreheads.

Speaker 1 (28:35):
It was oh worth it. It looked great those days.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
Your family's like, so what's going on over there in La, Like, well,
here's what I did.

Speaker 1 (28:45):
At work today? Or a dinosaur head? It looked great
that number.

Speaker 3 (28:49):
I really was wondering about those heads though, if they
were falling off you guys all day.

Speaker 4 (28:53):
Oh it's brilliant design, honestly, that crank.

Speaker 10 (28:56):
Mmmm Okay they learned, they figured it out because there
were times early on to remember Jenna that you like
had to I don't know what department it was, but
like put soda on the floor so it wasn't a
slippery and all those little techniques.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
That's right, or hairspray soda one of those, Yeah, thank you?

Speaker 4 (29:16):
What else are other ones? Edge of Glory? That was
a good one.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
That was a fun one.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
So we like, as a viewer, I love the trouble
Tones numbers. Was that also like one of the highlights
for you guys as well? Because I also loved them, like, oh,
here are all these people that are just shown up
in this glee club. Why aren't they in a regular one?
Because they're better than.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
All of us? Like why do they just show up
for the trouble Tones?

Speaker 4 (29:42):
But did you?

Speaker 2 (29:43):
Was that like a highlight that anytime you got called
to do a Trouble Tones.

Speaker 6 (29:46):
Number because it was the ladies singing, it was nia,
it was amber.

Speaker 4 (29:55):
It's right, it was yeahs it was like.

Speaker 5 (30:00):
What was it stronger?

Speaker 4 (30:02):
Yeah, that was so fun.

Speaker 5 (30:04):
That one, like just like thinking about that, like just
everyone's voice.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
What it was, Oh that rumor has it? Maybe no,
Oh I can Hember.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
It was I have all these little because I would
stand on the wings every time the trouble comes around
stage trying to learn it.

Speaker 5 (30:26):
Ye.

Speaker 3 (30:26):
Yes, yes, it was Stronger. Such a good one, A
good one, or the Survivor you guys had you came
out with all your really curly hair. It was that one,
and then they switched it and they were like no, no, no,
and we waited like hours for you guys all to
go through hair again to take your hair down.

Speaker 8 (30:48):
I think it was Heather that Heather had it on too,
the curly wagon. I don't remember who looked at her.

Speaker 4 (30:52):
It was like take that off, and then everyone we
did look crazy.

Speaker 3 (30:59):
You you all had perms basically like so Susie h perms.

Speaker 4 (31:07):
It was crazy.

Speaker 8 (31:08):
You know what else was a really iconic one obviously
is run the World.

Speaker 1 (31:13):
Yes, that was just such a good one.

Speaker 8 (31:16):
It was such a good one. And so many dancers
for on that one too, Like so many girls came in,
which was so fun.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
It was huge.

Speaker 2 (31:22):
Also, it was it like took over the entire school,
like the geography of like where m hm do you
ever get confused with doing that on the real stage?
You just want to break into the glee version.

Speaker 8 (31:36):
Of So we did the really we get the relies
on tour?

Speaker 1 (31:43):
Yeah we did. We did do that.

Speaker 8 (31:44):
Like in hindsight, it fully is one of the reasons
why I booked being in general is because I knew
that choreo already, because it's hard choreo. It's not easy,
and thank god I'm a slow learner.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
And are you a slow learner?

Speaker 8 (31:59):
I yeah, Well I get in my head and then
I just will stand there. I'll like stare at the
wall and get so distracted by something, and then seven
accounts will go by and I'm like.

Speaker 4 (32:09):
Is hard?

Speaker 1 (32:11):
Yeah? The real run the world is hard?

Speaker 4 (32:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
Yeah, I'm still mad because I never got it. I
never got it in one of those dance classes. I
couldn't get it. I feel like I got the other
ones to an extent, and that was when I never
got like, yeah, it's just really I had a review.
My body doesn't move those ways?

Speaker 4 (32:33):
Yes it does. I know it does.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
We've seen it absolutely does.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
After I might need some alcohol for say exactly it's
been so fun to see you guys again, all of
us together.

Speaker 1 (32:47):
You don't this doesn't happen very often, and I.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
Feel like you guys get try to like work together
as much as possible too, Like don't you.

Speaker 4 (32:55):
Oh yeah, if I could only work with it for
the rest of my life, I'd be great. We don't
need anyone else.

Speaker 1 (33:00):
We'll be all right, We'll be fine in rehearsals.

Speaker 6 (33:03):
We'll like any different jobs, will like be on like
opposite sides that when I used to be dancing on
and we're like, does this feel weird? And we like
have to switch like on the completely sides because we're
so used to just like dancing one certain time on the.

Speaker 8 (33:17):
On the side of each other, Like, yeah, we were
on a job recently actually in November.

Speaker 4 (33:21):
We did like the Tick Van Dyke Special.

Speaker 8 (33:23):
And first of all, we're learning next to each other
and we should not have been because we were like
cracking up, crying off in the whole time. We have
never worked with squags. We're so wonderful, but like we
need to separate immediately.

Speaker 1 (33:33):
You get in trouble never working again.

Speaker 8 (33:36):
We're looking at each other like Cathfoy through and we're
like switching midway that everyone's just like, what's.

Speaker 4 (33:39):
Wrong with you guys? Like it's too many years, too
many years of history to try.

Speaker 1 (33:43):
Oh my god, that's so funny.

Speaker 5 (33:45):
Fifteen years of being bookends and so many different camps.

Speaker 8 (33:51):
It would get so bad that Britt and I would
we'd be working not that great, but we would be
working together, and like we we watch each other and
notice one of us was doing something different, and I
would change it to do what she was doing, change
it I was doing.

Speaker 4 (34:03):
And we'd be like, we're too like one of the.

Speaker 2 (34:06):
Can't Watching the two of you dance is one of
life's greatest joys. Yes, honestly, the amount of times I
would sneak, I don't know if it was technically sneaking,
but maybe ilso just be like getting ready or something
on set, but I would go watch your rehearsals as
much as possible. Probably why we forced both of you

(34:28):
dance at parties, which isn't cool. Sorry about that, but
it's like I feel like you two and Heather have
like this thing of when either of you dance, when
any of you dance, you can't take your eyes off
of you guys, because I don't the energy how good
you are. It just feels different, and like we're the

(34:51):
biggest fans of both of you, and just whenever we
see you and things are on tours, we're just happy
like they should booked and working all the time because
you're both like two of the most talented and nicest,
hard working people that I've ever encountered. And you need
to go back and watch all the episodes and see

(35:12):
you like dancing and all these things, because the ship
you had to do was crazy. We just watched a
number last week where you had like the cups and
you were doing like cups, like how do you There's
nothing you can't do, and it was always such a
joy to be able to see you like, oh here's
another thing they conquered, of course naturally.

Speaker 4 (35:33):
Yeah, all it takes is just be a touch to Lulu.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
Guys, that's right, that's you found the perfect recipe. Because
my voice was hoarse at like renaissance and you're like
everyone's shouting to Beyonce like.

Speaker 1 (35:53):
A proud parent all the time.

Speaker 6 (35:55):
Always I have always been so proud of us. It's
just like all support for us, like even or like
y'all were always just like the kindest, the sweetest, like
just with us and like and supported us. Yes, y'all learned, Kevin,
you learned every single number.

Speaker 4 (36:14):
I feel like.

Speaker 8 (36:16):
I think it has says so much about like that's
where we got some of our confidence, like from you guys,
because I remember going into rooms after that and not
feeling like that where everyone supported you, like where the
cast supported you or the artist or whatever, and not
not any where you. We would just go in and
it wouldn't feel the same. So I would picture you guys.
I think I told you all that before, but I
would picture you guys sitting so I could tap into

(36:41):
that type of support is also not normal, Like it's
so so I'm so grateful to have it, and it
really laid a foundation for us on how how we
the delusion.

Speaker 4 (36:53):
I guess.

Speaker 1 (36:55):
You're the.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
I think it's in reality and your skill and because
you don't have to say it about yourself who you
know then that would be crazy, but you're both so
good it's crazy.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
Yes, before I forget okay, so before we can go
back to just complimenting the shit out of you guys,
because we.

Speaker 1 (37:18):
Do that all day. What is the feeling like Lee
Leaves you with.

Speaker 6 (37:23):
First word that comes to mind is love. I like,
I think also because I was on the other side too,
and like now I'm getting bet emotional, so like not
only like becoming friends with y'all, but then like watching
y'all and then reading the scripts and then dancing with

(37:44):
my best friends. Like that doesn't then that does not happen.

Speaker 5 (37:49):
That is so rare. Like what we went through.

Speaker 6 (37:53):
Years was so rare and so special and I have
never I mean, of course I continue to feel, but
like that love. It's like that it was. It's unexplainable.

Speaker 8 (38:06):
It was so magical, that's absolutely right, and it was
like the perfect recipe for magic all across. It was
like a coming of age time for all of us too,
I think, And it was like what an incredible environment
to do that in and it really set the stage
for how we would all grow up to be adults
and continue and you know, learn what an like a

(38:28):
loving workplace is supposed to feel like where you look
where that that that feeling a family doesn't always exist,
that you know that carries on like how we are
now like just pick up you know, yeah, magical, truly
truly magical time.

Speaker 1 (38:46):
Yeah, I love it.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
Let's yeah tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (38:54):
Oh my god, so low steaks were so low that
like checking on you. Literally everyone trusted you to do
your job. He just did it, He just did it.

Speaker 7 (39:09):
Well.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
Thank you so much for joining us, you guys. It
was so nice to hear from you, and I can't
wait to see what else you guys do in your
amazing careers. And that we were so lucky to all
work together. Hopefully we get to do it again.

Speaker 5 (39:22):
I know.

Speaker 2 (39:23):
Thank you both so much, love you both.

Speaker 1 (39:25):
Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 7 (39:30):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (39:31):
Yeah, I'm so glad to hear their experiences like ours,
Like obviously we were also all integrated, but they had
their own experiences. And to hear that they got to
work with their best friends and had such a nice
time with Zach and Brooke and then with us, is
it's like a nice It's a relief to hear because dancers,

(39:53):
I feel like we're brought up to like keep their
mouths shut, do their job plane and so to hear
that their experience wasn't like being beat down, right, and
that they had fond memories of it is nice.

Speaker 2 (40:09):
I think a lot of times the dance community gets
treated in a way that they're like an afterthought, which
is crazy. I think that happens in the music business.
And I feel really proud of the show and of
Zach and Brooke and Ryan Bratt. Liked that they hired
six hundred and fifty something dancers and that the community

(40:32):
liked working on the show and had a really good time,
and like ging on tour like we would sneak on.
I slept on the dancer bicycle past right, yeah, because
I like they were. We go on vacations with all
of them, like I think people might not know, like
we were actually very very good friends with you know,

(40:54):
like the core group of dancers. We felt very attached
to them and still do obviously. Thank you Brittany and
Hannah for coming on and talking. Love that perspective, you know. Yeah,
they said we picked up quickly by the end of it.
Look at that they did. And Trouble Tones was their

(41:16):
favorite too.

Speaker 3 (41:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (41:18):
See confirmation, Yeah, confirmation. Okay, we have to have a
dance class soon about that. Actually we should do that.
We should definitely do that. Well, thanks for joining us.
I hope you guys enjoyed that conversation and we'll see
you next week.

Speaker 2 (41:33):
