Speaker 1 (00:01):
And that's what you really missed with Jenna.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
And Kevin an iHeartRadio podcast.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
Welcome to and that's when you really miss podcasts. The last,
oh God, final season. We are here. We are at
the beginning of the end. Kevin, this is crazy.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Yeah, we made it. Jenna.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
This is season six, episode one. We are at a
loser like me. Our favorite song and it is. This
was aired on January ninth, twenty fifteen, which was a Friday.
And this was a delay. Correct, So like they delayed
airing because we finished filmingly in February of twenty fifteen,

(00:47):
correct something like that, Yes, right close to it. Yeah, yes,
crazy times.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
And like, just for those of you who, maybe the
younger ones who aren't familiar with week do we television
on cable If you get moved to a Friday, it's
basically like moving you to the graveyard people in America, don't.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
People are out on Friday. They're not watching TV on
Friday night unless you're a mom of June and now
you're watching Harry Potter on a Friday night. Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Yeah, so that was a little bit of a kiss
of death. Okay, but we were already you know, I
can't wait.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
To get into this episode. So let's get all through
all the fun stuff so we can talk about our
thoughts because I know.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Okay now, So the number one song in the country
was blank Space by Taylor Swift.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Great song, new song. The movie was Taken number three,
so Taking three. This is the third film in the
Taking trilogy with William Mason.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
They were really just turning those out.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Didn't see it in Glee News this week. On January sixth,
Glee the Complete fifth season was released on DVD, still
and featuring all twenty episodes of season five and six
on discs. And then on January sixth, the music of
Loser Like Me Ep was released.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Not to be confused with the other January sixth that
happened a couple of years later.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Oh no, no, quite a few years later, many many
years later. We were in a different eon of time
where something didn't exist. Okay, No simpler times, Okay. This
episode was directed by the one and only Brad Baker.
You could tell as soon as we started watching it,
all of his shots, all his intimate close ups.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Uh huh. In this episode we have Brian Sookes Mitchell
back along with like Ickball, Max Adler, A lot of
people are back, and we have a lot.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Of and a special appearance as already caret. That's right, weird, Okay.
The songs in this episode Kevin tell Me.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
About Them Uninvited by Alanis Moore, sett performed by Rachel.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Suddenly Seymour Kevin by Blaine and Rachel.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
I have Trauma sing by Ed Charon performed by Blaine
and Skyler with Dulton Academy Warblers.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
And Dance to Night Away by a Book Adrenaline.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
And let It Go. Wow, yes, that let It Go
by Rachel.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
I've got to tell you I let it Go started playing,
and I watched the episode before this, and I listened
to Let It Go, the original Ladina version about fifteen
times this morning because my daughter is ob sassed and
she has two microphones that bluetooth in and you can
play it through and she sings it and she sings

(03:31):
it on repeat, and we're like, let's switch it up.
Can we change the song? Girlfriend? And she's like, okay,
can you do show yourself then from Frozen too? So
I am this Frozen in my house is like and
I thought I would be like shook by Leah singing
it because I was like, oh God, let it go.
But honestly, it's just in my bones now. And I
was like, oh, yeah, I know this song.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
I'd like to hear your version. Oh it's hard, Yes,
it is hard.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
I you know. I was lidal to Leon. I was
like wow, because Emma will be like, Mommy, sing this song,
and I'm like, girl, I don't know if I can.
And then show.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Yourself you're a singer, like do you know you can sing?

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Yes, a little bit. But I also think like even
if I didn't have a singing voice, I think she'd
be like, Mommy sing this. Except for the first time
today ever, she said no, Mommy, you don't sing. And
she said no, Daddy don't sing either, And I was like, Okay,
at least we're in this together. I didn't get shunned myself.
It wasn't just me, but I was like, wow, that's
a first. Okay, didn't you say that she has a

(04:31):
really good pitch. She does have a really good pitch.
Today she didn't, but usually she does.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
She's I mean.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
She's two and a half, like she she can really
get to the note. It's like flipping the head voice
that like we're trying to teach her now, but she's
like weirdly really musical and very.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
Good at it's better than me.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
No, no, better than me.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
It makes sense.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Yeah, anyway, get her in lessons now. I know. I'm
working on it.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Wow, staying junkle, I.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Know who are she loves this thing? Okay. Season six
of Glee aired on Fridays at nine, which we have
already discussed is the Graveyard and season six premiered at
EPM for a special two part premiere So usual like
Me was first, and then season six episode two, Homecoming,
aired right after.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
We're not doing that, we're spreading this out so just
so you know. Yes, this episode was watched by two
point three four million viewers, which is a twenty one
percent improvement from the last episode. However, this is the

(05:40):
lowest watch Glee season premiere.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
This is the second time two episodes aired on the
same day, the first being Props and National.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
This is the first and only season premiere where Ardy
and Tina don't appear.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Oh is sad and I'm starting In this episode, dut
Marie Jones and Amber Riley were promoted to a regular cast,
which is funny because when was Ama not regular cast?
But like you know. Nara Rivera, John Ashwitzpecatova, and Alex Newel,
Jacob artists Blake Jenner were deed demoted to the recurring casts.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
This episode marks the first appearance of Clint Spencer, Porter
and Roderck Meeks.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
And this is the third episode named after an original
song that's been done on Glee, following Extraordinary Merried Christmas
and All or Nothing.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
While the song Loser Like Me is not actually in
this episode, an instrumental version of the season five version
is used as background music in Rachel and Blaine scene
at the line of bean which I really liked it
really fit, it died, it fit.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
It was nice. This is the fourth season premiere where
Rachel has a solo.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
With this episode, Rachel sings a duet and every season
premiere in each of them with a different person Finn
and Don't Stop Believing Sunshine and Telephone Curtain Ding among
The Witch is Dead, Marley in New York, State of Mind,
Santana A Hard Day's Night, and Blaine suddenly.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Seymour piano shown during that so Rachel has a reference
to the Purple Piano Project would Die was like, Oh,
I know that piano.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
This episode marks the final appearance.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Of Leroy berry Oh. Rachel sings let It Go from Frozen,
originally sung by a Dana Menzel. A. Dina, of course,
played Rachel's mother, Shelby Corkran. The pop version of the
song was sung by Demie Levado, who played Danny. Season five,
All Full.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Circle Incestuous, Blaine singhs Suddenly Seemore from the Little Shop of Horrors.
Darren would later play Seymour himself and the current off
Broadway production.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
Which we have multiple times pitched ourselves for and yet
nobody has called us.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
No, nobody wants it. Well, okay, we'll have to do
our own show. Jenna God, I'll produce it.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
You start. No, no tell me what the summary is?

Speaker 2 (07:57):
Okay. After Rachel's humilionating failure as a TV actress, she
comes home to Lima to go figure out what she
wants to do next. Upon discovering that Sue has banished
the arts at McKinley, Rachel takes it upon herself to
reinstate and lead the glee club when they're just spoiling
the whole episode. Meanwhile, Blaine, no longer in a relationship
with Kurt, has moved home to coach the Warblers, while

(08:19):
Will is coaching rival Vocal Ajournaline and Sam is the
assistant coach for the McKinley football team.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
I mean, literally, that's what you really missed. Yeah, you
don't need to watch the episode. That's it. Okay, overall, overall, Kevin,
uh huh ah, what did you What were your feelings
on season six? To start?

Speaker 2 (08:49):
Mm hmm okay, let me start with the positives.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
I liked having this one's Rachel.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
I really enjoyed watching Rachel sort of like own what
was happening to her and shout out to that ickball
moment she's like. And I thought Leah was incredible. Yes,
I thought Chris and Darren. I thought everybody's performances were very,

(09:25):
very good. I really enjoyed that. I liked having them
back in Lima. However, I did miss them a little
bit in New York. I did a little bit. But
what I don't love, and this is maybe just a
me thing, is when you have all these beloved characters

(09:46):
and storylines and relationships that we have watched over five
full seasons now, and then in the premiere episode you
just sort of talk about all these things that have
happened off screen, like very big significant things. Obviously, we
get a flashback of the breakup between Blaine Cod we

(10:07):
get to see Leah's episode of Rachel's episode of her pilot.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
But you wish we had like lived it.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
Yeah, I would rather have seen what was going on
because we spent all last season getting to a certain
place and then they blew it up and we didn't.
We weren't there to experience it right.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
Time time jump.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
I don't love a time jump.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
I have to disagree with you in this do it. Yeah,
I have to disagree with you. Now I don't. I
don't disagree with you on everything. But just like the
time jump was interesting because I always love a flashback
on Glee. It feels very Glee to me. And I

(10:55):
liked the time jump because I feel like I would
have been complaining, like yet they're faster. There's something about
this episode going back to the beginning of it. Like
you had said you missed them in New York. I
loved New York, as we all know if you're listening
to this podcast. I there's something very nostalgic about coming

(11:18):
home to mccambley, seeing Jane and like social vest back
in her element seeing will and like kind of in
a new element in vocal adrenaline, Like it feels very
old school great to me, and it's like nostalgic. And
I was like there was like a breath of relief,
and I was like, oh, everybody's home.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
I agree with that.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
Really, there's something very very calming about it. But then
there's conflict within it. So I was like, oh, I
know this place, this is familiar to me. I'm all
about it. The thing that I had an issue with
or that felt very jarring to me initially, very specifically,
was Rachel getting fired and the whole thing like just

(12:06):
blowing up in our face that I do agree with you,
where you're like, oh, I feel like I didn't see
it all. I just like happened so quickly, and then
jumping into Uninvited, which love len Is love that song.
It was like out of nowhere, she like burst into song.
I was like, what is happening. But then when she

(12:27):
gets dropped off at the gate with the box, I
was belly laughing and I was like, this is ridiculous,
and I was like, right, it's a satire, Like I
could imagine Ryan sitting in the editing room, like like
hit the laugh that he has, being like this is
this is exactly what it's supposed to be because it's
so insane, like she has nobody is a box of

(12:49):
things that they get dropped off with and like outside
the game, like the gate shots on her face, like
it was comical and like in a good way. Like
I just was like, right, this is a satire, like
don't forget. And I loved watching Kurt and Blaane go

(13:13):
through this experience because we know where they're going to
end up to, like in hindsight, like I know obviously
spoiler alert, they end up together. Like so I enjoyed
that it's not all sung chin and rainbows for them
and that they go through some hard stuff before making
the very big decision to get married right like they're

(13:35):
so young still, And I loved the flashbacks and I
thought the two of them their performance was so stellar.
In addition to Las, it was just all really it
felt jarring it first, like the first twenty minutes, like
suddenly Seymour felt a little rush to me. Yeah, I

(13:55):
was like, where where are we? Why are we singing
right now? Why are we singing? And then and then
halfway through it, I was like, oh, I like this episode.
I don't know, Like when they're back in the hall,
like in the halls and McKinley in the choir room
and Sue is dropping drops her smoothie and she comes
at them, It's like, I'm here for it.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
I agree with everything you're saying. I think maybe part
of that thing being like jarring in the beginning was
part of what threw me of, like, oh, we're just
like making up a lot of ground here. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
we're just going into a song. And it was just
a lot of I guess it was comical chords like

(14:37):
her show ends up being the worst show of all time,
and then her dads are getting divorced.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
Right, It was just a lot crazy.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
Which is funny, but it also just felt like I
don't know, I care about Rachel. And it's also weird
that like why didn't she know her dads are getting divorced?

Speaker 1 (14:57):
And also like that's it just the way it was
written that that's the reaction is like we'll talk about
it later, you know. Like the whole scene felt rushed,
Like I agree, I'm still angry that like everything fell
apart and she gave up Broadway after she had it
in the palm of her hands.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
I'm not over it. I think it's.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
Really not over it. She's like, my dream is Broadway
at the end, and I was like but and like
she says she had it, but she it's angering to me.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
Yeah, I like the stuff of the TV show is
really funny. It has provided a lot of comedy. Especially
in this episode we get to see it and yeah, yeah,
dude gets hit by the light and then Carrot Top
forgets his line.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
It's ridiculous. She does weirdly like Brittany or like she's
very very like, yeah, very good. You know what now
that I think about it and we're like saying it
out loud, there's part of me that thinks, like like
I always try to imagine, like asking Ian, why did
you guys do this storyline? And like I always try

(16:06):
to like imagine what he would say, and I feel
like Ian, there's part of it. It's like, but this
is what happens, Like actors like, especially when you get
to a place that you always wanted, Like we were
always striving because it's so this industry is so hard
and we're constantly fighting in every audition for another role.

(16:27):
Another part to have our place, like to be seen.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
To climb up one more rung of the way, yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
And like get there right and then when you get there,
you're like, oh, there's another place to reach to. So
like that's kind of the way this industry was built
and how we learned how to do it. And so
like there is satire and like her getting exactly what
she wanted and then like trying again and like completely
falling in her face, Like yeah, I do see it.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
I know. I think there's a lot of reality there.
I don't have a problem with that because I think
that that's what happens all the time. Literally half the
cast was from Broadway, Like you know, you all came
from Broadway.

Speaker 1 (17:08):
I wanted was to be on TV after on Broadway.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
Yeah see, I just mean, like, you know, as like
a fan, I just I wanted to like live in
I know it's not good for TV probably, and this
is why I am not a writer, but live in
the joy of her finally getting to do what she wanted.
Because as soon as she got it, we like did

(17:32):
time jump a little bit, like a couple of months
or something, and she was over it and was trying
to pursue TV and so I just wanted to like
live in that a little longer.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
I feel that's all. I'm totally with you. I am
on board with that.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
What I do like about this sort of structure right now.
You know we talked about New York at the end
of last season was that there were less characters, so
you're getting more time with everybody. I really liked that.
Love this episode. You get your Will, like you said,
you get Sue, you get Kurt and Blaine and Rachel,
and it feels adequate, totally total. I really really enjoyed that.

(18:16):
I also loved what Brad Beeker was doing with Will's
like the shuster of it all, with the baby's perspective
and I'm planning out that was really nice. And also
Mattie Morrison like any creepiness that Will Schuster may have

(18:37):
had before, it's just simply evaporated. Yes, and like, this
is my favorite Will Shuster.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
Yeah, I didn't even think about that. I'm I totally agree.

Speaker 2 (18:48):
He's so good with the baby. There's something about that
where the character feels settled. He's he's reached his goal
and he's living in and he talks about it right,
or like you see the perspective age gives you, and
he got to his new goal and.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
Is just it's like there's a part of will that
I feel like, like you said, with the age of
maturity of it all of like his legacy was William
McKinley High School and the glee club in that time,
right and leading us to nationals and the whole thing,
like he built that and then like just now having

(19:26):
a family and having other priorities, but then also continuing
to be able to be involved in the arts. Like
there's something like very settling about that for him that
I loved and I thought he was so sweet and god,
that baby was so cute. I was like a little
are you kidding me? And then when he turns to
the camera and this is five six seven eight and

(19:48):
we cut into the next one. Honestly, I normally would
hate something like that, but like Brad Beeker, like, kudos
to you for getting us out of a scene and
into the next one, because like go you, Like I
loved it, and Maddie for just committing to it, like
that's all it is, you know, It's like you have

(20:10):
to just commit to it, and like he did. I
really enjoyed that. I also loved like Rachel coming back
to vocal adrenaline and visiting him and her doing that
scene with like making you know, don't talk me about
being part of something special makes you special, Like like
you said about Rachel kind of really leaning into like

(20:32):
admitting that like what you know, her mistakes and her like.

Speaker 2 (20:36):
Really enjoyed that because we don't ever see that from Rachel,
especially towards the end of last season where she was
sort of a monster, And to see the growth and
that will do it to you. Public humiliation will certainly
will yer. Yeah, whether you choose to accept it or not,

(20:56):
it will have some effect on you. And so I thought,
you know, she was just like, no, let's be real
about this, Like let's really be real about this really,
And and I liked her because I really loved his
speech to her. He was like, don't forget you're still

(21:16):
like Rachel Barry totally who like gets things done.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
And then she goes to talk to the superintendent and
like just offers her money.

Speaker 1 (21:28):
Is it starting a book club again? And then Kurt
being like maybe I need to be home, Starry staying
in Rachel before we jumped tokrt Rachel's trailer in the beginning.
Let's just like paint the picture for a second, Kevin,
Because we were only the hottest show on television, and

(21:49):
when we got first got cast, like we had for
the pilot, some like newer trailers and they're called trible bangers,
which huh, that sounds funny. It's three to one, so
it's like one one really long like RV kind of
looking thing, but there's three rooms in that. And the
reason why we couldn't negotiate, like a lot of stars

(22:10):
in Hollywood like get a single banger, which is like
one single.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
Huge, gigantic trailer with like.

Speaker 1 (22:16):
A bed and like a kitchen d and like all
these things. But because there were so many of us,
there was not enough room on the lot to hold
twenty single trailers. So like I was happy because our
trailer was Newmi and Chris and like I was happy
to be there forever. But when we started the show

(22:37):
for real and season one, we got trailers and they
were like nineteen from nineteen eighty therese still exist and
they're still out there, the star wagons. Yeah, and then
we upgraded at some point, maybe season three. They gave
us some newer ones. It might have been season two, okay,
got it was a little bit newer.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
They were newer.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
Versions, but the one that Chel was in was like
a single and it had like a recliner and like
a bed and like all this stuff, and those do
exist because I remember at the super Bowl episode, the
director had an episode Brad felt Jack our creator EP

(23:18):
and Hero and he never used his trailer. He was
always on set anyway, because like, who has time to
like go rest as the director. But he's like, you
guys can go, like sit in my trailer if you want. So,
like we all went and like sat in his trailer
and it was like group hag.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
It was nice to sit there.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
And like there was a fireplace in there. So they
do exist, like the ones that that Rachel had, but
we did not have those, so I was like, wow,
they really like pulled out all it stops for Rachel.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
It was also sort of jarring seeing like that they
canceled the show after one episode, like, oh, that doesn't
happen anymore.

Speaker 1 (23:55):
I did.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
So the thing about that number that she went into
invited is that you see our stages so weird. So
when she's facing into the sound stage. That building in
the back is where if we ever did have to
do eight R one time, that is the building we
would go into. And it was a new building on Paramount.
Like all those little things are so fun for us
to see on camera, little nuggets. Yeah, And like the

(24:18):
stage that she's looking at was one of our smaller stages.
We had. How many we had one, two, three, four,
five stages and we had two smaller ones and those
would be the ones that would change out every episode,
right if there were new sets to be built. And
so that's what you see right in this episode.

Speaker 1 (24:35):
Right. I loved seeing our I always loved seeing our lot.
It's always like so magical on Hollywood, like to see
our lot on camera. H she I mean, she really
gave it and she sounded great. Like I love the
song a lot. It was one of my favorite Alanta songs,
hands down. But unfortunate that like it was just it

(24:58):
was a jarring moment in the show in general, and
so I think I couldn't like fully enjoy it the
way that I probably should have. Yeah, But realistically, like
she sounded and she looked great.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
I really liked that we were back in Rachel's bedroom,
that feeling of when you go away, become an adult,
have experiences, and you go back to your childhood bedrooms,
it's exactly the same.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
Yes, yes, it feels different though, I bat you know,
like when it feels different, but it looks exactly the same.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
And it felt different watching her in that space.

Speaker 1 (25:26):
Yes, yes, so weird.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
And I enjoyed that, and it was nice to see
see it like in my eyes of like, oh, yeah,
they rebuilt this. It looks a little new paint on
the walls, looks.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
Exactly for her to be not living there. And then
the Blaine and Rachel scene when they're talking about coming
back and they both kind of have their failures and
Blaine's telling Rachel about Kurt breaking up and and it's
just a really nice, slower moment, And I think it's

(26:02):
like living in those scenes where you get to enjoy,
like you said, the simplicity of like having just a
few characters and really being able to like invest in
their storylines in.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
This have a real conversation because I think, yeah, a
lot of the magic of the show is the pace
and how quickly we you know, throw out little like
jabs here and there and we still get that. Yeah,
but it is nice to have the space to like,
let these two people who have been through so much,
we care about them, we want to know what they're thinking,
and let them just have the air to do it.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
So we also have the Dalton warblurs where Blaine takes
Rachel to Dalton and he is now Blaine is now
the head of Dalton. Ugly cluss.

Speaker 2 (26:50):
I also, I do really enjoy just like you don't
have to have a degree for that. Also, Okay, so
Rachel's show gets canceled, are getting divorced, Blaine gets after
the breakup, he starts flailing and failing and gets kicked
out of YadA, right Kurt and Kirk gets broken up

(27:12):
with Kurt breaks up with well yeah, and so like
everybody is going through so much. I was like, what
is that happening? But it gets them all back. I
get it. So what I do love, though, are these
little things of just you don't have to have a
college degree and like, well no, then you know, the
the instructor got ebola or whatever, and so I'm doing

(27:34):
it temporarily like it's just my great Yeah, just I'm
glad we asked the question and let's give a whatever answer.
I think it's hilarious. I agree when they go back
to Dalton, I missed Dalton a little bit. That was
nice to be back, wasn't it.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
It was nice to be back. It was weird t
back with like a totally new group of people. But
I guess it's like interchangeable anyway, like don't always kind
of changes their people. I I don't love this is
not my favorite at cheeron song like at all. So

(28:13):
like I didn't again, like couldn't for some like this
also couldn't get into like you know, I love a
Warblish number, but like I couldn't get into it.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
I could, and I don't love she brings music that much.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
Wow, I love it music. I just thought this.

Speaker 2 (28:29):
I just enjoyed the number. It was nice hearing those
harmonies and the a cappella of it all and seeing
like Rachel Berry sort of like rehab tour. Mmm, because
I agree, Like if you see those first two numbers,
I feel a little like shoehorned in. This feels natural
and she enjoys it and they sound and look great.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
Right, I I agree, I just like it was Actually
it was just the song, like I loved everything else
about it, Like I enjoy seeing Dalton and warblers and
like Rachel being there. It was all really fun. It
just felt like I was like, Wow, I wish I
liked this. I also I'm always just waiting for a
dark side for them, just saying.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
So then we have Kurt's business going on, we get
this flashback or at first I was like, what's happening,
Like we don't. We also don't live in flashbacks this long,
and it happened a couple of times this episode well.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
And also like can I just kudos to Brad Beeker
for all the transitions in and out of these scenes,
because from the watch to the watch in the flashback,
I was like, I'm loving this right now. I really
appreciated it, and we don't always do that, but like
it felt really good.

Speaker 2 (29:52):
I was like I feel the tear to the tier.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
Oh, I just come on like drifted through this episode
on like a cloud, do you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (30:03):
Well, yeah, it was like a perfect math. Everything just
snapped together. Yes, yes, yes, their breakup was crazy very
them where it's like a little like you guys do
not communicate, You guys are not good at living together
and you both get like.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
Well that is the truth. Like when Kurt was saying that,
I was like, actually, you're right, and like he was
definitely getting cold feet a little bit, but also like
he's not wrong, Like you the living together is actually
just a symptom of the of a problem.

Speaker 2 (30:32):
Those are valid concerns.

Speaker 1 (30:34):
Yeah yeah, but then like just coming on being like
let's just end it before we hate each other. It
was like, wow, that is harsh, which.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
Then makes sense why he comes back so hard to
be like I'm going to get him back, please set
it up. These speed dates are hilarious. Hilarious, Yeah, I
know it is said that cut to the one, you know,
the crying into the crying where he's sitting acrossing that
guy and he's like, I have to go in the
moments with Rachel also just to see how far Kurt
and Rachel have come together and how their friendship is now.

(31:08):
It's really nice.

Speaker 1 (31:10):
It is really nice. I I loved. I loved the storylines.
I really did. I appreciated all of them this this episode.

Speaker 2 (31:20):
Like now you know who got crazy and you know
we we haven't had that much to say lately, and
Tarty takes about the cringe moments, so everything Sue said like, yeah,
we can't talk about it because it's so it was crazy.

(31:43):
It was it was like that one season premier episode
was the season two auditions. Yeah, we're like we just
couldn't talk about it sometimes. The comedy just like it was.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
It was it really it tipped over and I tipped
if it sunk over the line, you know what I mean? Like,
I just like, I don't even want to talk about
it much. I don't want to go too much air.
But like the pig pen, oh my god, the noses,

(32:15):
I was like, where are we right now? Where are we? I?
My jaw was agaye on the ground or my mouth
will gape on the ground. Like it just was like
too too much. I will say the context decide. I
do enjoy that the rivalry coming back, like she's now

(32:38):
got new people to take down doing Sue at what
she does best is like taking people down. We just
hope it's not at the expense of other people, do
you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (32:51):
Oh? I sure do.

Speaker 1 (32:52):
I did love the vocal adrenaline performance. Also, Max George
of I'm Glad You Came Fame is a vocalist, you know, Yeah,
like singing his face off and that vocal adrenaline number.

(33:16):
I I have to admit, I don't think I ever
saw this episode, but I mean I was shocked, Like
I obviously know him from the boy band and I
should know better than anybody else not to judge a
book by its boy band cover. But he was no, no,

(33:38):
no singing, singing, dancing, yeah, like performing. It was really god,
it was very good, very exciting to see. I was
I was missing vocal adrenaline. I felt like, you know,
we love New York, but to bring back vocal adrenaline
that first was like we needed it. And I love
that Will is doing it. It's just so ironic and

(33:59):
like feels so crazy. But also his little sweater vests
and plaid spy, I know, he's so sweet. Like usually
he's like sitting there with like his eyes welling up.
In this one, he's like dancing. It's just a different shoe,
but I love it. I love it.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
I also love getting to see some coach beast in
there yelling at the football the football players.

Speaker 1 (34:17):
And Sam telling sat his own water.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
Marshall shows up at Spencer and I think it's so
great fits right in in this like new era gay student. Yes,
and also like Marshall's just so sweet, nice and big
fan of him.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
We have to talk about Krovski.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
We have talking about the last.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
Kurt meeting the Lane to get him back. It all
started out to happy, go lucky. For it to end
in them being together, it would have been like them
crying and then deciding to get back together. But this
I was like, something's wrong here, something is going to
happen in this scene, and I don't know what it is.

(34:59):
I was like, oh my god, here it is, and
Blaine is dating.

Speaker 2 (35:07):
I couldn't remember. Don't be mad at me, dear listeners.
I couldn't remember who dated Kosky if it was or Blaine,
because you know, so often like sex education, like you
have your the bully and bullied end up together in
some sort of suspicious relationship, right, And so I just

(35:32):
couldn't remember. And then also that flashback Max Line dancing
and Blaine Warbler. It is weird sitting there watching him. Yeah,
it's but it makes sense. It's a small town. How
many out gay people are there? Really?

Speaker 1 (35:49):
Yeah, And it couldn't have been so easy for kurtin
Blaine to like be like I want you back, Ohey,
let's get together. Like either Blaine would have been like no, no, no, no,
we're not doing it. It's not that easy, or Blaine's
gonna be dating somebody else. I for one have to say,
like love seeing Max Outler back, love seeing like them,
you know Kurk kind of being quick through the ringer
at this point, or like their relationship kind of being challenged.

(36:10):
But I do not like this couple. Do you know
like this? I don't either, but I think it's good TV.
I get it. I just am like, I don't know, yeah,
and I'm like Blaine, let's get let's get it together.
Curtain Blaine and let's just get married. Do you know

(36:31):
what I mean? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (36:32):
I don't. I'm I think it's done way too often
of you know, having the bully end up dating some
of their bullying, even though this isn't exactly that. But selfishly, yeah,
like you said, I like seeing them all. I like
seeing Max back. So did you also notice that Kelly

(36:52):
was one of the line dancers.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
Yes, I was just going to say that, it's my
favorite Kelly Kuzman himself, Kusman just making an appearance whenever
he can. I mean this is the place to do it.
I love it.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
And he was a writer this season. Oh that's right,
so he must have been on set and they just
threw him in.

Speaker 1 (37:12):
There man or he was like, I'm going to be
in this scene.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
Yeah, that makes sense. The Kowski and Blaine, the whole
thing about Bear and Otter. I was like, I have
to get out of here, That's what I'm saying out
of myself.

Speaker 1 (37:28):
Very uncomfortable there.

Speaker 2 (37:30):
Yeah, but I think that's part of the fun.

Speaker 1 (37:32):
I know, I know, I know, I just know.

Speaker 2 (37:34):
I'm not saying I like it, But there have been
crazier things on the show.

Speaker 1 (37:38):
And then you know, Rachel and Kurt, they get to
the end of the episode like Rachel and Kurt are
coming in and Rachel's in the office and mister Shu says,
I thought Finn was going to take this office, which
I thought was really sweet, and Rachel saying like it's
a few months, and like, yeah, your assets a few months.
But and then we didn't let it go, and we

(38:00):
get a wonderful performance of let I Go by le.

Speaker 2 (38:03):
Michelle and papers flying through the hallway with the open door.

Speaker 1 (38:07):
And again I have to say, like even her weird
little line at the end, You're like, how do they
pull this up? I was like, oh God, bless they
cut the cold never bothered me anyway, I'm so glad.
And then we get to her, which I'm glad they
did because putting up that Glee sign up list was
very exciting. I loved it. It's nostalgic. It made me

(38:27):
feel things with the gold star next to it and
then straight into the camera, which is a Bradbeaker special
of doing a cold. Never bothered me in it. I
was like, you know what I buy, I buy it.

Speaker 2 (38:40):
I take it now. Beaker's got taste.

Speaker 1 (38:42):
He really doesn't. He knows what he's doing. I was
into it. So that's the the beginning of the end.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
This is what always happens. This is how I listened
to music, watch movies, watch TV. I always initially don't
love something, and then after I talk it out, like, you.

Speaker 1 (39:01):
Know what, it wasn't so bad? Yeah, yeah, kind of
like that.

Speaker 2 (39:05):
Kind of enjoyed it.

Speaker 1 (39:08):
For sure.

Speaker 2 (39:09):
I also this was my weirdest watching experience. Why I
watched it in my car.

Speaker 1 (39:18):
I watched it in my car often, so really I
have to because I'm on ago and I just I
watched fair I watch it.

Speaker 2 (39:26):
There was a street cleaning and there was nowhere to
park my car, and so I sat in my car
to see if parking enforcement was going to come by,
and so I just watched the.

Speaker 1 (39:33):
Episode on your phone with the sound in your car. Yeah,
it's kind of fun. Yeah, yeah, that's funnyway. Yeah, I
watch it. I watch it all over the place. Sometimes
I watch it while I'm making dinner. Sometimes I watch it.
Sometimes I watch it when I'm feeding gray Am. Sometimes
I watch it a little bit with Emma. And yesterday

(39:54):
I was who's that singing? Mummy? Who's that singing? It was?
It was Rachel singing uninvited? Let's grades and performances uninvited.
The vocal A A plus the number so well. I
also liked singing paramount I did, but the GoF covers
being very fast.

Speaker 2 (40:15):
Yeah, I'll give it a B plus A minus.

Speaker 1 (40:20):
Okay, same thing my book that.

Speaker 2 (40:24):
Is not the same Jenna, that is a full different letter.

Speaker 1 (40:28):
Okay, suddenly Seymour B yeah B it's so weird to me.
Sing as a dance the Night Away, Oh A A
A let it.

Speaker 2 (40:47):
Go A plus. I really like Dance to Night Away.

Speaker 1 (40:51):
Yeah, let's give an A plus. I mean just a
vocal adournaline after all, let it go a B plus. Whoa.

Speaker 2 (41:03):
I just can't do that song.

Speaker 1 (41:05):
I get it. I am just too undisensitized towards it.
It is just normal in my body for sure.

Speaker 2 (41:11):
No, no, no, no, I'm a frozen two truther.

Speaker 1 (41:17):
Cracked. Do you like Patti get things go when he
does that? Because it's so high?

Speaker 2 (41:24):
God damn it, Jenna. I have spent this whole show
praising how good you sound, and then I agree to
do that. Ah, okay, TARTI takes TARTI takes cringe moments everything.

Speaker 1 (41:38):
Sue says, it's really bad. It's really really bad.

Speaker 2 (41:42):
Like I don't even know where to start.

Speaker 1 (41:43):
No no, no, I mean like her secretary, Like the
whole thing is just really bad.

Speaker 2 (41:49):
No.

Speaker 1 (41:49):
I can't with that Translors. No, no, no, no, no, it's
it's actually not good. It's bad. Best dance move right away,
best song, mm hmmm, dance to night away, dance nightaway?
Uh best?

Speaker 2 (42:07):
Hold on, we're not doing the best performance doing best song.
I'm going to switch it to uninvited.

Speaker 1 (42:15):
And invited vocally Yeah, okay, prop that's a Rachel like
the set.

Speaker 2 (42:28):
Everything, and that's so Rachel.

Speaker 1 (42:30):
Yeah, it's absolute best line.

Speaker 2 (42:36):
I'm gonna go sappy here and use the speech between
Will and Rachel.

Speaker 1 (42:41):
Okay, I like that.

Speaker 2 (42:45):
MVP. I'm going Leah.

Speaker 1 (42:48):
Yes, I'm going Leah with an honorable mention to Darren
and Chris.

Speaker 2 (42:54):
Leah carries this episode.

Speaker 1 (42:55):
She really does, and it's excellent, really really good.

Speaker 2 (42:59):
It works on her, it always has.

Speaker 1 (43:01):
Always has.

Speaker 2 (43:03):
Okay, okay, should we got on TikTok? It is so good.
It is these two friends Missus Jerry Traynor on TikTok
and they're leaving a fake voicemail and saying the urge
to leave the infamous Will Shooster voicemail every time someone
doesn't answer their phone, and they have it memorized and
are saying it. That's good.

Speaker 1 (43:25):
This is good.

Speaker 2 (43:27):
It's so good and the comments are great, like the
way I knew what it was immediately. The thing is,
none of my friends watched Glee. Can you imagine doing that? Someone?
Oh yeah, someone will have an issue with that target
audience reach. I found my people. This is my humor.
I think it's great. Jenna, leave me a voicemail sometime,
would you? I will oh my gosh, and do the monologue.

Speaker 1 (43:51):
Everybody has been talking to me about, like, oh, have
you seen like the viral song on TikTok, like which one?
I say a little brown, like yeah, it's still going
you guys. We have a great guest this week. Nolah
Guthrie is here kicking off season six guests. He is
so sweet, so don't miss that. And then our next

(44:13):
recap is Homecoming. It's a season part two of the
season six premiere.

Speaker 2 (44:19):
Oh I'm in that one.

Speaker 1 (44:20):
So Mike, we're back.

Speaker 2 (44:23):
We're back.

Speaker 1 (44:25):
This is when cord falls. We're all back. And I
remember we did some weird behind the scenes videos during
this number. Kevin at Bernstein, do you remember with Diana?

Speaker 2 (44:37):
Nope, nope.

Speaker 1 (44:38):
Oh it's really fun. Okay, stay tuned, and that's what
you really missed.
