Today on “Bachelor Happy Hour,” Joe and Serena chat with Tanner, the man at the center of the latest love triangle in “Paradise”! In their discussion, Tanner doesn’t hold back as he reveals the expectations he and Kat set about being exclusive on the beach, how he felt learning that Davia had no intentions of getting to know any other guys, and whether there was anything Kat could have done to stop him from going on the date, even though it was her birthday.

Plus, Tanner reveals how it felt to learn that Davia had spoken to Kat before he got the chance to and whether he thinks he did anything wrong by asking Kat out in the first place.

Speaker 1 (00:02):

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Thanks of course, we got a lot we want to
talk to you about.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
Is this your first time ever on We didn't have
you at Charities Mental hell did we?

Speaker 2 (00:21):
No? No, it is my first time talking to you guys.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
So welcome.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Yeah. I was listening to you guys all all throughout
Charity Season with all my boys like Joey and Dawton on.
So this is cool nice?

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Is this your first podcast?

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Sure?

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Is oh nice?

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Okay, all right, you're my first, Joe.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Then it's a special moment, special moment for everyone.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Let's let's get into a little bit of your backstory.
How'd you how'd you get on Charity Season in the
first place?

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Yes, I mean I was just working, living in Pitts
living in Pittsburgh and uh my brother just signed me
up anonymously. He didn't even tell me he was doing it. So,
uh I got a ring them call from a from
a cruiter. They said, do you want to be on the show.
I was like, I don't know, like probably not, but
let's go through the process and kind of see what happens.
And obviously I made it to the end, and it

(01:10):
was one of those things where it was like, you know,
you know, opportunity comes, you got to kind of go
that way, and obviously I was single at the time,
and so I said yes, and now we're here.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
I feel like that's the thing for a lot of people,
especially people that get nominated or like scouted, is it's
like do I want to be on the show?

Speaker 2 (01:30):
No?

Speaker 3 (01:30):
But do I want to see if I.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Could get on the show?

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Yeah? Exactly, And then you.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Get to the end. It's such a lengthy process and
then the opportunity arises. You're like, well, am I really
going to say no to this? Like I did it,
I got on, Like it's such a once in a
lifetime opportunity.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Well, I don't think anyone. I don't think anyone. And
I put myself in this group of people that, like,
you almost don't want to admit to yourself that like
you're kind of intrigued, Like you're like, oh, like they
want me, yeah, wait, You're like your wall is instantly
up until they finally ask you, and then you're like, well,

(02:06):
I got to do it now.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Yeah, even all my friends were asking me, and I
kept I didn't really tell anybody I was even going
through the interview process because you really can, so I
was kind of keeping it pretty close to my chest.
But towards the end, once I got the contract, I
was like, yeah, we're going to do this for sure.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
So and are you still in Are you still in Pittsburgh?

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Yeah, Pittsburgh, PA.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
And what do you do for a living?

Speaker 2 (02:32):
So I was I was a mortgage lender for the
past three years, and I've always been part time personal
training and working as a fitness instructor. But as of
two weeks ago, I finally quit my mortgage job and
I'm going fitness full time. So I'm super excited about it.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Congratulations.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Yeah. Thanks. It's one of those things where it's like
your your your main hustle funds or side hustle until
you can kind of go that way. So I'm excited.
So hopefully good things are coming.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Do you have like do you have a do you
have a gym? Do you have like a and him
where you teach classes?

Speaker 2 (03:02):
I do. I don't own it, but I operated a
gym here in Pittsburgh, but I teach like it's almost
like a Berries boot camp kind of feel. It's called
Walk Run Lift Studio, So I teach classes there and
I also film like my YouTube channel there and my
own app coming out Probaly later this year.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
So it'll be cool, big year, big year for Tanner. Well,
if you guys live in Pittsburgh, you know where to
find him. You know where to go get fit with Tanner.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
I saw, I saw, yeah, I saw you were in uh,
I saw you were in New York and you did
that like five You ran like five miles through Central Park, right.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Yeah, yeah, this is the I love the run. I
kind of have a love hate relationship with running. I
like more of like a weightlifter. But you know, I
had a shoulder injury, so I got into running, and
New York's my favorite place in the world. So anytime
I'm there, I try to go for at least like
a long run just to kind of zone out and
see the city a bit. So it was cool.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Nice, nice, Yeah, I'm doing the marathon and let's go.
So yeah, that goes. But yeah, all the money like
prepping for for it in all the miles that I'm
putting in a week. I'm just like, my body's really starting.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
How are you? How are your knees? Everything? Okay, my
knees are good.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
I'm more I'm more actually concerned about my ankles. But
we'll see. My body feels okay. I'm just I'm it.
I have a hard time because I still go to
the gym and I'm having I'm struggling now, like lifting
weights because I just feel like I'm I'm I'm losing losing,
losing strength from running so much.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
I'll be at the end with the sign.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
And me too, I'll be at the end. That's awesome.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
All right, let's get into uh, let's get into paradise.
Were you were you excited? Were you shocked when they
ask you? Were you hesitant? And all? To go back on?

Speaker 2 (04:49):
You know, it was a full day. I was in
Pittsburgh a whole day before I got the call, so
they gave me a lot of time to prepare thing.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
You guys are it's like quick turnaround, but I guess
it makes sense with the guy seduling for filming exactly.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
So I you know, I was definitely shocked. I was like,
you know, give me a minute here to kind of
decompress from the bachelorette and uh, and it took Honestly,
it took a while. I wasn't sure if it was
something I wanted to do again. I was looking forward
to kind of getting back into my everyday routine and everything.
But once I found out, you know that some of
my guys were going, and you know, there was interest
on the other side with some girls that might be there.

(05:24):
And again, I'm a yes man. I usually say yes
to fun, exciting things, and you know, a couple of
weeks in Mexico sounded pretty good, so I'm happy I did.
It was those great.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Well, there's a lot of women right now that are
interested in you, Like they're all been pretty vocal about
like you've been like one of the number one guys.
Have been waiting to see who on your end? Have
were you waiting to see down there?

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Like who was your list when they asked who you
were interested in?

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Yeah, So I mean I even told Kat, I said
I had a very very short list kind of going
in and uh, and Kat was on it for sure,
and uh and Jess was on it as well. So
really those two were the only two that was like
somewhat interested in. But once I got there, you know,
it's like, well, kind of see what happens.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
So okay, so you go down and you first grab
at least we see, so you first grabbed Jess. How
was that conversation and did she because we see a
lot of things happening right now between her and Blake,
Was she interested in going on a date with you?

Speaker 2 (06:28):
Yeah? For me, Jess was kind of hard to read
in that first interaction. I was definitely super nervous coming
onto the beach in the first place, and I was
really looking forward to meeting her, and I don't know,
we had We had a pretty good conversation, and to
be honest, I wasn't sure who I wanted to take
on that first tape, but I was happy to have
at least met Jess. I mean, she's obviously gorgeous. He's

(06:49):
kind of quirky and funny too, So you know, the
conversation went great, but I didn't know if it had
I don't know that spark, you know that right off,
right off the bat, and to ask her on that date.
So okay, yeah, so obviously I chose Kat.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
Yeah, So so you choose so you choose Kat, and
you guys go on a date. You seem you guys
hit it off, right.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Yeah, A quick question, Yeah, before we jump into the date,
So when because now we're like backtracking that all in
terms of the show. At that time Kat was with
Braiden and we saw that as viewers. Was she open
about her relationship with Braiden? How did she kind of
describe it to you before you asked her on the date?

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (07:34):
Yeah, Kat was super excited to meet me, and you know,
I obviously asked about Braiden, and she said that they
were like, you know, talking right, they were getting to
know each other. But she didn't give me any kind
of sense that, you know, she was actively pursuing him
and that she was like super excited about him. And
then obviously things played out a little bit differently after that,
but yeah, she didn't really make it seem like they

(07:56):
were super super into each other into each other until
you know, I kind of found out later on Gotcha.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
Okay, Okay, so you go on the date, get you,
you hit it off with her, and you come back
and then we see all the cat braid and stuff
come to a head. So we don't really see on
the show. We don't really see much interviews of you
talking about it, But what's going on in your mind
as all this is starting to go down.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Yeah. I tried to try my best to stay out
of all the drama as much as possible. So I
was probably talking to Wells at the bar, to be honest,
But you know, the way I looked at it, it
had nothing to do with me. You know. I came
in and I asked her on a date, and I
started a relationship with Kat. If Kat and Braiden had
some kind of relationship prior to me, that's that's up
to them to figure out, right. I didn't really want

(08:46):
to get involved in that. I didn't really care to
know more information about that. All I cared at that
point was getting to know Kat and figuring out if
we were gonna, you know, make it work or not.
So I just tried to stay out of it as
much as possible.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Smart, I mean smart. Okay, So now we get Cat.
You and Cat are kind of you're basically together for
paradise terms before Davia comes down, What is your what
is your relationship status with Cat?

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (09:18):
Where are you at? Like? Are you like, oh, this
could really go somewhere. Are you like this is nice,
but like we're still open?

Speaker 1 (09:24):
Have you had Have you had the conversation about being
exclusive yet? Is anything anything like that?

Speaker 2 (09:29):
No? At that point, it was so early, especially for
me because I came in a little bit late. So
you know, from my perspective, Kat had a few days
on the beach in the beginning to date to meet
multiple people. She ended up liking Brayden, so she went
that way. But for me, I came in and I
really only got to really know Kat, so you know,
I wasn't exclusive with her. I made that kind of

(09:51):
clear with her. But I was excited about it, right,
I mean, it was super super excited to be in Paradise.
We went on an awesome date. Never rode a horse before,
so like that was super fun.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Did not to cut you off? Did she? Did?

Speaker 2 (10:05):
She?

Speaker 1 (10:05):
You made it clear that you didn't want to be
exclusive yet, But what was her opinion on that? Did
she want to be exclusive yet?

Speaker 2 (10:12):
No? She was on the same page, yeah, saying we
were on this. We were always on the same page
with when it came to that. You know, she didn't
really press me to be exclusive with her, and I
didn't expect her to be exclusive with me either, you know,
someone else came down to the beach and asked her
on a date, Like obviously, It's like that's always the
hardest part about Paradise, right, It's like you want to
try to be cool and like now you can go
do your thing. But and I probably and I probably

(10:35):
would have played that card. But uh, you know that's paradise, right.
We're there to meet people, were there to date, so
I wouldn't have tried to hold her back.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
Okay, Okay, So Davia comes down, she asked, I want
to talk to Tanner. You guys have a conversation.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
And how does that combo go? Like I'm assuming she
so we know she pulls you first. Are you thinking
like she's gonna pull our guys or are you like,
oh yeah, like there's a spark here? Does she like
kind of like she obviously we know she came down
to meet yo. Is she kind of disclosing that to you.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
A little bit? She didn't say specifically when we had
the conversation that like I'm here for you. She said that,
like you know, you were on my mind, You're on
my list, and uh, and that was great to hear
from me, because like, I obviously knew that there was
some buy in from her side, and she's like adorable.
She was super cute and bubbly and like excited to
be there, excited to meet me. So that conversation just

(11:32):
flowed really well. But obviously I thought she was going
to be pulling other guys too, so I wasn't really
expecting to be the only one that she pulled.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
So how did you feel when she said, Tanner, I
don't need to pull anyone else. Would you like to
go on the state with me?

Speaker 2 (11:51):
I got super excited, man, I said yes right away.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
I like that, and I like the way she said
it of like I want to be in intentional. I
talked to someone I have an interest in them, and
I'm gonna go with that. I thought it was great,
and like I can imagine, felt really flattering on your part.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
Oh for sure. I mean it's a badass move and
that's nerve wracking coming down to the beach. You don't
know who's there, everyone's looking at you, and you have
a date card and there's a lot of pressure. So
she came in and I thought she was like she
handled herself really really well. And that was attractive to
me just to kind of see a strong, confident woman
saying exactly what she wants and she wanted me at

(12:28):
that point. So I've made me real good.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
No, that really that that came across. Okay, So you
guys go on the date.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
And first you pull Kat oh okay, yeah, to have
a chat with her.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
That's a key part. I did pull Cat.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
That is a key part. We will not skim over that.
Don't worry, har We know you pulled Kat to have
a conversation with her. Were you nervous going to that
conversation because honestly from and it's her birthday, it's her birthday.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
What an asshole she have her birthday that day?

Speaker 2 (13:01):
I know, I know. And crazy story. I actually broke
up with my last girlfriend on her birthday too, So
this I know. I know. It's horrible. It's horrible.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
Jesus should.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
That information with people yourself?

Speaker 2 (13:16):
All right? I didn't say that, but no, I mean,
obviously horrible, horrible timing with birthday. And obviously don't want
to ever hurt anybody, right, That's like the one thing
I never want to hurt anyone. But I was excited, I.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
Thought quick breaking up with people out of their birthday,
for one, So we're.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
Cutting that part out or striking from the record.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
But yeah, so I pulled Cat, and you know, maybe
I should have pulled her first, had a conversation and
then decided, but I was so in the moment and
I was excited, so I responded pretty quickly. But I
thought I did the right thing by pulling Cat and
just letting her know where my head was at. And
I just wanted to let her know that, you know,
going on this date is going to give me clarity
either way. Right. It's it's one of those things where

(14:00):
it's if I go on the date with Dabia and
we have a shitty date and it sucks and we
don't like each other, then like great, and then come
back and Cat and I keep building something that was
already pretty strong, or like the opposite happens, right, So, uh,
you know, I say yes and yeah, so we'll see.

Speaker 1 (14:17):
And what was what was Kat's response to basically you saying, like,
I'm going to go on this date?

Speaker 2 (14:25):
She she wasn't happy. No, no, she was she was
not not happy.

Speaker 1 (14:29):
I mean, what was her what was her reasoning for
not being what was her. Did she tell you, like,
I don't think you should go?

Speaker 2 (14:37):
She didn't know, She didn't say that. She's like she said,
she was kind of passive aggressive in the way she
was saying, you know, go do your thing, whatever makes
you happy. And you know, it put me in a
bad situation too, because I wish that you would have
been somewhat understanding of the position I was in, but
there really was no understanding from her point, and she
kind of stormed off. So obviously no hard feelings at
that time. I went on and went on the date anyways,

(14:59):
but it was it was definitely tough because you don't
want to hurt anyone, and obviously it being her birthday,
we planned on spending her birthday together at Paradise. So yeah,
just just bad timing all around there.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
So was there anything that she could have said to
stop you from going on the date.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
I don't think so, to be honest. At that point,
it was so early in our relationship and I wanted
to go on a date with Dabya. You know it
was she was a gorgeous girl that came down super excited,
and I knew we were gonna have fun. So I
don't think there's anything that Kat could have said that
it would stop me. But I thought of Kat maybe
handled it a little bit better. It could have maybe

(15:38):
had a better impression in my mind about about Kat right.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
The way she handled it, Like if she handled it
and the conversation had gone really well and she was
really understanding that, Yeah, you would have been attractive to
that quality and maybe a little more like you probably
still would have on the date but been like, oh,
like I'm excited to come back and talk to her.
Yeh like left you with a good impression before you
went on the.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
Date and that. Okay, so you're having your date with
Davia now and it's from our point of view, it
looks like it's going great. Could you talk a little
bit about just how it went and everything.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
Yeah, I mean, uh, we went to dinner and we
had a beautiful conversation. Honestly, we were so engaged with
each other and we shared a lot of deep things
about one another, and it was awesome. We really had,
you know, uninterrupted time to get to know each other,
and we were actually a lot more similar than when
we thought, you know, and we had a great dinner. Obviously,

(16:36):
we had a little surprise on the rooftop after we
had a little private salsa band up there and we
danced the night away. And she's honestly a fantastic dancer.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
Like I was gonna say, was she like a dancer
or ballerina or something, because like you guys did the
journey dance left, I was like, oh, she's like you
say she she's like the way she's holding her body,
she's done this before.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
And I like that big dumb, strong guy like, yep,
I can do this part. But yeah, I don't know
if she was in ballet, but she was definitely a dancer.
So I was just following her lead and we were
cracking up like we were having so much fun, and
it was honestly, it was a great, great night. It
was a great date.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
So yeah, it looked like a lot of fun.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
Yeah, we have a good time, all right.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
So then what is give us like a percentage of
where is your mind at with who? After this date
you're leaning more towards dove.

Speaker 3 (17:30):
Out, I mean like seventy.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
Yeah, like where are you?

Speaker 2 (17:36):
You know? I hate this about myself, but I'm very
indecisive and I try not to be, like I really like,
take me to cheesecake factory, and I'll crumble because if
there's too many options here but it's too big, like
give me eight entrees, it'll be good. But uh, But honestly,
between Cat and Doggya, they were so different, and and

(17:57):
Cat and I started off so strong, and I went
there to meet Cat, so that was always in the
back of my head, where you know, I came here
specifically to meet Kat. I'm here with Kat. Let's see
where that goes. But then Dabia came in and kind
of shook things up for me. So I hate to
say it, but and that in those moments, I was
really fifty to fifty I really was wow. Interesting.

Speaker 1 (18:16):
See, I would have thought you would have been like
especially the way Kat handled the initial conversation before you
went on the date. I would have thought that day
after watching that date, you would have been like eighty
twenty Dabya.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
Yeah, I had spent like three days with that, so
there's a lot of like foundation there too, I guess, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
I mean it was tough, and especially because like I
wanted to, I never wanted to make too quick of
a decision either too. I kind of wanted to see
where things played out. So in those moments, it was
fifty to fifty because in my head I was like, well,
maybe even Cat and I can work on things. Maybe
Cat and I can get there. Right, So it's it
was tough. It was definitely tough. But yeah, I don't know,
I was fifty to fifty in those moments. It was

(18:56):
pretty hard.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
Okay, so then you get you get down, you guys
get down to the beach. We we we see in
the teaser that you end up Pulley Cat have that conversation.
So we can't talk about that. But what are you
are you talking to any of the guys? Are you
getting in?

Speaker 3 (19:13):
Oh? Hey, I have a question. So yeah, did you
come down late that day?

Speaker 2 (19:20):
Yeah? Yeah, I don't think we didn't see anybody on
the beach when we came back.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
Okay, that's yeah, that would have been part two my question.
So it looked like the way it was all showed
was you guys came back after everyone had gone to bed,
and then you came down to breakfast at lunchtime.

Speaker 2 (19:40):
Oh yes, yes, yes, yes, yeah, that's exactly what happened.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
Okay, so you came down I'm assuming correct me if
I'm wrong. After Kat and Davia had had their morning
chat about.

Speaker 2 (19:52):
Correct, yep, yep. I had no idea that they talked
at that moment, but yeah, they had already spoke when.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
You pulled Kat, Did you know that Davia and her
had already had a conversation.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
I don't think so. No, I don't even I wasn't
even thinking about that, to be honest, I was just
kind of laser focused on the conversation I was about
to have with Kat, you know.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
And going into that conversation, how did you feel, you know?

Speaker 2 (20:15):
I would I wouldn't say I was conflicted because I
made up, made my decision and I went with it.
But at the end of the day, I didn't want
to have to hurt anybody, and I knew that Cat
was into me in that moment, so I was nervous
to have the conversation, But with the conversation you need
to be had, you know.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
But did you did you talk to any of your
boys before that and kind of try to get the
temperature of what happened the night before, what was going
on with Kat?

Speaker 2 (20:40):
Yeah, a little bit. I actually talked to Braiden, of
all guys in the room a little bit about it. Uh,
that that next morning, because when Dogby and I got
back from our date, everyone was pretty much asleep. So yeah,
I woke up the next day, talked to the boys
and the room. I was talking to a then talking
to Tyler, talking to Braiden a bit, and you know,
I'm not sure if they gave me any advice that

(21:02):
made me kind of go either way, just kind of
following my heart in that moment. But your boy had
to do what he had to do, you know. Wow.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
So pulling cat aside that morning, and you know, obviously
we're going to see how the conversation unfolds, But what
are your intentions and your kind of like mental game
plan going into this conversation with her? Like what do
you want to tell her?

Speaker 2 (21:23):
Yeah? I was going to tell her exactly where my
heart was, and I was going to try to just
try to stay calm as possible, you know, I'd try to.
I pride myself, I'm not getting too high or too low.
So I was just trying to stay calm, cool and
collected and just let her know exactly where I was,
exactly why I went on the date, where I thought

(21:44):
we were in that moment, and where I thought we
could go, So just trying to wrap my head around
all that so I can kind of tell her the
best way possible.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
So did you know where Davia stood before going into
that conversation?

Speaker 3 (21:56):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (21:57):
Not really, I mean, there wasn't it. We didn't confirm anything,
we didn't really talk about it, but we knew we
had a really good night and I felt like the
energy was there and it was you know, we just
had a really fun time and we were kind of
meeting each other halfway, so I didn't feel like I
had to ask her where we were. I kind of
felt like I knew that in that moment.

Speaker 3 (22:17):
Yeah, were you ever? And I mean like, obviously Kat
is not a scary person, but were you Were you
scared or nervous about her response going into the conversation
just because the first combo of just going on the
date hadn't gone well and now you're about to have
a second conversation.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
Yes, he was, yeh, I mean a little bit. I
mean I am scared of Cat. I was. I was
scared of Cat in that moment, you know, especially because
Kat was super tight with all the girls in the
beach too, so you know, if I rubbed her the
wrong way, she could, you know, kind of room my
reputation with the other girls or something like that. So
that was kind of on my mind where I didn't

(22:57):
want to hurt her, but I also didn't want to
like room when you know, the reputation that I had
on the beach.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
Yeah, you don't want to feel like you're like public
enemy number one now with the.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
Yeah, exactly exactly. So trying trying to play both sides.
It's kind of tough.

Speaker 1 (23:11):
And we see we see a lot of we see
a lot of things go down on this episode. What
are your thoughts on the other couples on the beach?

Speaker 3 (23:20):
Let's talk through some of the.

Speaker 2 (23:23):
Couple somebody else really, yeah.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
We really do. On your situation, let's talk what is
your what are your thoughts? Because we see, just for
the first time, kind of open up that Blake is
not really her number one.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
Well she says she he is her number one, but
with a lot of hesitancy and basically is just like
he's my strongest connection number or like that's basically the
tone is like there's no one else that I have
a connection with, so because of that, he's my number one.
And we're kind of just starting to see their relationship.

(24:02):
I don't want to say crumble, but I feel like
they're finally being like tested, yeah, tested. What was your
take on their relationship at this point?

Speaker 2 (24:17):
At this point, I mean, it seemed from me a
pretty surface level. You know. I saw other relationships that
were that were developing and getting stronger, and I can
see them interacting, and it seemed like it would work.
At times when I would look like see Blake and Jess,
it looked like it was pretty surface level, almost like
you know, this is my boyfriend, this is my girlfriend,
and we're gonna sit next to each other, right, So,

(24:39):
but I don't know how many behind closed doors or
you know, elsewhere on the beach. I don't know what
their conversations are looking like. But from from my.

Speaker 1 (24:46):
Thing, that's the thing. On the beach, there really are
no closed doors, so what you see is usually correct. Yeah,
you know.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
That's very true.

Speaker 3 (24:54):
So then in contrast to yeah, I feel like that
is what we're seeing as viewers. But it is interesting
to hear that.

Speaker 1 (25:01):
Well, I want to ask you, who.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
Do oh I got a question for me?

Speaker 1 (25:06):
Okay, because I want to hear I want I want
Tanner's opinion on this who at this point do you
think is Serena do you think is the strongest couple
on the beach.

Speaker 3 (25:16):
I'm going to go Kylie and Evan.

Speaker 1 (25:18):
So I think the strongest couple on the beach right
now is is Aaron b and Eliza who who in
your opinion, is the strongest at this point.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
I gotta go with you, Joe. I gotta go with you.
I mean, I'm not not taking anything again.

Speaker 3 (25:34):
That was like my pickers off, I'm not as good
as they used to be. So now he's feeling pretty
good about himself.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
Joe had me go and top four in the Bachelorette too,
and I was one off. I couldn't make them proud.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
Let me down, Let me down, Tanner, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
I'm sorry man. But and Eliza, I love them at
that point, like they were just they just look great
together and I love their energy and like he respected
her so much, So like at that point, I thought
that was the strongest. Even even Aaron said it a
few weeks ago. He's like, you know, if anyone's going
the distance, he thought it was going to be them,

(26:09):
So yeah, I gotta go with you, Joe. But even
and Kylie like that, next that next strongest couple for sure.

Speaker 3 (26:16):
Okay, gotcha.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (26:18):
I feel like Eliza and Aaron did have that like
test of her going on that date with John Bee
and her coming back, and I feel like when that
does happen, it like really solidifies a couple if you
can kind of get through that. And she came back
and was like, Nah, it's you.

Speaker 1 (26:33):
Yeah, or you do it, or you don't.

Speaker 2 (26:37):
Don't do it, don't do what I do, what not
to do.

Speaker 3 (26:42):
Either thing is a good thing, though, because you either
come back and you know one way or the other.
It brings you that clarity.

Speaker 1 (26:48):
And then what about what about Tyler and Mercedes? Because
we see Mercedes make out with John Henry and then
we do see in the super teaser that Jack Tyler
and Jess hook Opper makeout. So what is their relationship
status because that has to be surface level in my opinion.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
You know, it didn't seem that way to me at
that point. It looked like Tyler and Mercedes were actually
hitting it off. And I really didn't see Tyler pursuing
anybody else on the beach, and I didn't and I
talked to Mercedes a few times. She's a good friend
of mine at that point in the in the show,
and it didn't seem like she was really pursuing anybody
else either, so it seemed like there was something there,
but they were probably just not exclusive yet, so I

(27:33):
guess we'll see how it plays out. But yeah, and.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
Were you said to see how Sewn leave sew Well,
Sean Sean's technically at this point, you and Sean went
against each other in the in the tu on one.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
Oh yeah, you guys did do the two one. Who
are your closest friends on the beach You can include Sean, Aaron,
and Well in that even though we just saw them.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
Leave, gotcha. Yeah, when John Henry and John B showed up,
I was like, oh, let's go my boys here, but
definitely Sean. I mean I was blessed. I mean all
my guys for my show, for my season were on
the beach, right, So yeah, I mean it was really
only Tyler, Avan and Blake that really weren't and Will,
but I don't know. I hate to give you the
answer that I liked everyone, but I really do. So.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
Yeah, it's so funny because when we had Joey on
way back when at the beginning of Charity season, He
also said John Henry's name, and I feel like we're
just getting to know John Henry now as viewers, but
he seems to be very well liked amongst them.

Speaker 1 (28:32):
John Henry is a nervous wreck, which understandable. I was like, yeah,
I was like that when I was first in the showing.
I see him shake, I'm like, oh, but you could
tell he's probably very social and personable, but he just
he has stage train at the beginning.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
Is that accurate?

Speaker 2 (28:52):
You know? He's he's so dry, So like the more
you're around him, you kind of pick up on his
humor and then all of a sudden, everything that comes
out of his mouth it's hilarious. So he's kind of
one of those so you kind of have to be
around him for a while he has to warm up
to you. But he's just a good human being. I
love John Henry.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
I'm not very dry.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
You're not very dry.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
Now.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
Do you feel like it helps or hurts the guys
when all of them are friends and buddies, because we
do talk a lot about like the guys coming down
and like they grow out and that ends up being
like to their detriment, and also then the guys don't
want to like step on each other's toes. You know,
like you just said, John Henry's one of your friends.

(29:33):
We see in the super Tease cat going after John Henry. Like,
does it create kind of a weird dynamic.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
A little bit. I would say it created a lot
weirder of a dynamic for the girls actually. So yeah,
even though us guys were super close, I felt like
we we knew the roles of like Paradise, right, we're
there to date, we're there to meet people. Yeah, we're
eventually gonna step on each other's toes, but there was
always kind of a respect factor there too. Where the girls.

(30:03):
I feel like a lot of the girls actually shut
themselves off to dating anybody else because they maybe kissed
one of their friends and they were really treating Paradise
almost like you're out at a bar and like, you know,
someone's talking to your friend, where you know, it's not
really like that. We're on the reality dating show. We're
supposed to be dating people and meeting people. So I
feel like it actually hurt the girls more than hurt

(30:23):
the guys because some of the girls really just like
close themselves off.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
Yeah, I feel like you have to have. I feel
like you have to have a conversation with your friends
going into that show of like, hey, my my number
one goal here is to meet someone, so like, yeah.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
But you just never know how it's going to go
till you get down there. Like Abigail and I didn't
have that conversation, and like we never needed to. We
went for different guys. We're interested in different guys, and
I feel like you kind of hope that's how it's
going to go. And I feel like this season we're
seeing a little more crossover, a little more like, you know,
people worried about exploring and stepping on each other's toes

(31:02):
than maybe we've seen in the past. But that's interesting
that it was the girls this season.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
That's why there's a truth box, and that's why there's
the truth.

Speaker 2 (31:10):
Truth, the truth box, the truth box. But yeah, that
truth box is crazy.

Speaker 3 (31:15):
It was you weren't there for truth and dare the truth? There?
You were on your day with dab right, Yeah, yeah,
I was dancing the night away. You're dancing the night away.

Speaker 1 (31:23):
All right, all right, we're gonna we're gonna jump in.
We're gonna play a quick game Tanner before we do, though,
I want to ask you have any any regrets?

Speaker 2 (31:32):
No? Okay, zero, I didn't think so.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
You don't strike me as a guy that regrets things.

Speaker 2 (31:37):
I got a tattooed on my arm.

Speaker 3 (31:38):
Not kidding, I have no regrets.

Speaker 1 (31:42):
Do you do you want to do what you want
me to do?

Speaker 2 (31:44):
It?

Speaker 1 (31:44):
You do it?

Speaker 2 (31:44):
Joe?

Speaker 1 (31:44):
All right, rabbit fire. Are you more of an introvert
or extrovert?

Speaker 2 (31:49):
I feel like I'm introverted extrovert to be honest.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
Okay, already breaking the rules. What would you what would
what would be your go to paradise cocktail?

Speaker 2 (32:01):
Oh, it depends on the time of day. Sorry, It's
supposed to be one word answers. It depends on the
time of day. It goes early to be Mimosa with Rachel,
and if it's anytime past like two pm, probably tequila
soda a lot.

Speaker 1 (32:15):
Okay. What is the first thing you would buy if
you won the lottery?

Speaker 2 (32:20):
You can answer this so many different ways. Probably real estate,
probably by real estate be rich forever, and by beach
house too.

Speaker 1 (32:29):
What all time favorite Taylor Swift song?

Speaker 2 (32:34):
You know I'm actually a new Swifty. I used to
love Taylor Swift. I'm kind of getting back into it.
I love Cardigan Cardigan.

Speaker 3 (32:41):
Wow, Yeah, that is a good one.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
It's so good. I listen to that Song's gonna love.

Speaker 1 (32:46):
That Sean Johnson Swifty. He said it eighteen hundred times
in the show. What is one item on your bucket list?

Speaker 2 (32:58):
You know, a lot of this is out of my control.
But the Steelers ever go to the Super Bowl, I'm
gonna go see them with it. Steelers, Well, they say
it might not be for a while, Joe, but we'll see. Well,
I'm a Bears fan, so you're similar.

Speaker 3 (33:13):
In this recent episodes have done his absolute best to
integrate football into every single podcast. We go back and
listen to our last like six episodes. Somehow Joe has
found a way to brant football just so funny belist.

Speaker 1 (33:28):
The Steelers have have been in the past ten years,
They've they've made the playoffs a few times, right, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (33:34):
I mean Mike Tommins never had a losing season. I mean,
we kind of had a lot of good teams that
didn't win anything. But I don't know, We're used to
winning championships in Pittsburgh, so it's been it's been bad recently.

Speaker 1 (33:46):
We're not in Chicago. Do you have any dating deal breakers.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
Not not really. I mean I like to exercise and
like live like a healthy life, so they that needs
to be a priority for my girl for sure.

Speaker 1 (34:03):
What is your love language?

Speaker 2 (34:05):
It is access service.

Speaker 1 (34:09):
What is your favorite dessert?

Speaker 2 (34:14):
Favorite dessert? I like like a like a hot brown
like chocolate brownie with like vanilla ice cream, a little
hot and cold.

Speaker 1 (34:22):
Do you think you will end up breaking up with
somebody on their birthday in the future, I would never do.
What is What is the important item to pack for paradise.

Speaker 2 (34:36):
I've heard people say this in the past, but for me,
it's one hundred percent sure. It was bug spray. I
got killed with the bugs. Like if you if you
watch the show, if you pay attention to my back
at any point in time, like I had huge welts
all over my back then, that's sorry.

Speaker 3 (34:49):
Crazy. So our season, the weather was too insanely hot,
like it was brutal. The only good thing about that
is we had no bugs. But we came back the
following year and did a little visit and I was
getting eaten alive. I was like, what is going on?
The weather is beautiful, but I'm like covered in bug bites.

(35:11):
Oh my god, the worst.

Speaker 2 (35:12):
Yeah, it was bad for us. And it wasn't too
hot for us either. Down there. It wasn't nice.

Speaker 1 (35:17):
Yeah, lucky it was hot in our season.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
We had made a couple of hot nights like that.
The last road ceremony, I was dripping sweat. It looked disgusting,
but yeah, the worst.

Speaker 1 (35:27):
All right, Tanner, thank you, thank you for coming on
