After Zoe Raman Downey's surprising primary victory in New York City,
a race many Democrats believe were their favorite former Governor
Andrew Cromo, Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado, who is black and
plans to run for governor next year, has raised concerns
that the party may be facing a deeper credibility challenge
among voters. Here's what he had to say about it
on MSNBC.

I think that part of the challenge that we face
right now, and part of why new voices and fresh
voices are very, very compelling for the electorate across the
political spectrum is because a lot of people feel like
a lot of political accuracy, but in polics for a
very long time concerned with protecting themselves and protecting the party,
then they ultimately are with protecting the people. And we've
got to get beyond that. People do not want to

feel like they're just pawns in a larger game. They
want to feel like you're actually here to serve. And
so I do think that what we're seeing here is
a reckoning and it's a moment of accountability.

The Lieutenant Governor warns that if Democratic leaders aren't serious
about uplifting every voice in a way that feels honest
and real to voters, the party will keep falling short.
And while the streets are watching as a Manhattan courtroom
was on fire today as John de decom sex crimes
trial hit its final stretch. Closing arguments are underway, and
while prosecutors dropped a few charges like attempted kidnapping in Arson,

like racketeering, sex trafficking, and transporting women for prostitution. CNN

The defense is certainly going to argue this was not racketeering,
there's no elements of racketeering. Then they were going to
argue that this sex trafficking as alleged by the government
just didn't happen. These were violent, toxic, you know, horrific

and sex trafficking charges. And finally, in a world where

of Oakland, California, is heaven McGee as a painful reminder.
The African American twenty one year old disappeared in January

of human trafficking. She was last seen in Stockton, California.
Her mother, Tamisha, is pleading for the public for help
to those.
