Speaker 1 (00:06):
Hi. I'm Marissa Thalberg and I'm Stephen Wolf Betata.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
And we're excited to have you join us for an
all new podcast series bour and about those of us
connected to the team industries technology, entertainment, advertising, media, and
marketing all through the lens of brands. It's brand new.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
And what makes brand new actually unique? Like, does the
world really need another podcast? Well, we're two working executives,
we're operators, and we love what we do and we're
not pundits. We're not trying to sell something. We actually
care about this industry and we actually care about each
other because we're friends. And let me tell you why
I wanted to do this with Marissa. She's a world
class marketer. She's a brand leader or team leader, and
(00:46):
she's actually one of the only eighteen people to ever
have been inducted into the Forbes CMO Hall of Fame.
She's led across all different industries from luxury beauty to
fast food to big box retail to theme parks and entertainment.
And she is incredibly passionate about supporting women and even
founded as an entrepreneur something called Executive Moms.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Okay, okay, but wait, let me tell you why I
wanted to do this with Steven. First of all, Steven's
like the mayor of the industry, and he's also worked
across all different sectors, from finance back in his Blackstone
days to tech at Akamai and Oracle Media advertising, and
he's an entrepreneur, which I so admire. He's now chief
(01:25):
business officer of three past studios, co founded by the
biggest Latino actor in the world, Eugenio Derbez. So I mean,
we just have these totally different but similar and complementary backgrounds,
and we love bantering together, well.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Banter, and we're going to debate, and we're going to
have some real talk Marsa, Oh yeah, but we also
are going to have real talk with some of our friends.
Having worked in all these different industries, we just have
this incredible network and we want to have insiders that
can really share insights and what brand new is going
to be about. Well, we ask some industry leaders, industry
leaders like the Tavio Samuels, who's at Revolt.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
When I think about the term brand new, I think
about how so much of the world is stuck and
locked into convention and so brand new to me is
the opposite of that. It is about unearthing new perspectives,
uncovering people who have historically been invisible, telling stories that
the rest of the world hasn't heard. It is about
identifying those things that have been hidden that can provide
(02:21):
the opportunity for tremendous change.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Pretty cool, Jennet Baylis, who's at EY.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
Brand new means a fresh perspective and a new angle
on what's happening around us. How we need to raise
the bar for originality because we have access to new
productivity and tools and data and technology, and I think
it's only going to get more interesting.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
And even Philip Karmas, who was the CEO and our
chairman of care Lawiers.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
Brand new means to me excitement because it keeps us
going and I love learning. Learning is such a big deal,
so I want everything to be brand new every day.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
So whether you've been in these industries for years or
you're just starting out, sit back and enjoy the banter
as we discuss and debate what true we are driving
these industries and what is brand new.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
We're always passionate, but we don't always agree. Hopefully that's
what's going to make it fun.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
So that's the Panter. That's what's going to keep it real, Melissa.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
